Pony was so good for our first trail ride together!! She did have to frequently trot to catch up to the horse in front (short little leg problems 😂) but she was content to walk again and follow behind. One of the other horses lost his mind a little bit when he saw some other horses and Luna mostly stayed calm thru it, we had a brief moment when the second horse started trotting while first horse was still losing his mind and she crow hopped into a running canter but she settled after like ten strides.
And then she tried to turn around leave before the first water crossing and did a lot of hesitant backing up steps before being coaxed into it, but once she was in it she powered right thru!!
And then she was better for the second (smaller) water crossing!!
Overall she was very good, just a little looky and some maybe anxious trot when she felt she was getting left behind, but otherwise an absolute superstar!! Gold star for the trail pony 🌟
I've seen a lot of discourse about Virginia Kull's portrayal of Sally Jackson in the Percy Jackson and the Olympians TV series, and I'd like to say that I loved her. Don't get me wrong. I love Sally from the original book series, and I, too, would fight the God of War on her behalf. But something that I enjoyed about Virginia's portrayal of Sally that we don't get in the books is the character depth. We don't hear much of Sally's backstory in the TV series, apart from a couple of flashbacks with younger Percy and that scene with Poseidon (Toby Stephens). However, those scenes do an excellent job of showing us that alongside being Percy's mother, Sally is also a young woman who fell in love with a man she could not be with and is enduring the natural consequences of having Percy. She struggles to communicate with him when she's frustrated, gets teary-eyed when she lies to him to prolong the inevitable, and actively sacrifices her happiness to ensure his safety. Virginia Kull's portrayal of Sally Jackson reinforces the character's humanity, imperfections, and determination, and it's everything to me.
I think Oscar Isaac should play Harvey Dent because then we'll get Damian bullying him for being short. Meanwhile Jason, 6'5 combat machine, immediately hides behind Bruce when he sees him
Had a really fun lesson with my perfect angel pony (well minus when I tapped her with the crop and she kicked out).
We ended with a course at .7m ish which was higher than we’ve jumped in awhile. And it was fun! But I definitely need to ask for way more forward from her and really focus on a good engaged canter. In general I need to be asking more of her because then it goes better (duh). Also still liking the new saddle. It fits her well, doesn’t move around and fits fine well too. So feeling better balanced and secure. And so relieved to not have to think so hard about it anymore. And now I can just focus on me and all the weird things I do with my body. I think I have an okay for feel for what I need to ask for I just always ask with the wrong body part. Ie trying to pump my shoulders instead of using my legs for more forward.
We did have one refusal that was fully my fault. I woahed (read pulled) for the chip instead of pushing for the long spot because we hadn’t jumped this big in awhile and the long spot made me nervous. But more leg is always the right answer. Always.
It was after the refusal that my trainer said to tap her whip when we went again and she was so offended she kicked out twice. And then gave me a perfect beautiful canter for out last two jumps and they were great. My form wasn’t great (read got mess on landing) on the first one, but the last one was about as good as I can be so feeling really good about that. I might not be good but I’m getting better AND I have the best pony.
This is coming from a show-only fan, but. Gotta say. I was having conniptions of delight over Siuan and Moraine in this episode. It is the BEST angst I have been served in forever. It is SO good. Don't know if this is "character murder" of Book!Siuan, but I for one find this characterization extremely compelling?
Because? She's doing exactly the same thing Moiraine is doing? Sacrificing everything she loves; and everyone she loves; for what she thinks is the only thing that matters, saving the world.
The only thing is that they disagree on how that must be done. Perfectly symmetrical opposites. Their lives and hearts ground to dust beneath the wheel.
The fucking. The fucking flashback flashes. When they were torn apart. I am dead? I have died. I have been murdered, and it felt so good.
