WE ARE FROM IDHÚN

Oh boi, here we go. This song got kinda popular in my primary class, and some girls even learnt it and sang it in the playground. It was something else.

In a nutshell, this is just an introduction to all of the main characters of the books, so it’ll help those of you who don’t know what the hell they are about, although my 11-year-old self wasn’t really a master with words, to say the least, and specially with English, but alas, here we go.

Vermicelli Upma or Shavige Bath is a very simple and delicious breakfast dish made with vermicelli, onions and mixed vegetables. You can add vegetables of your choice. I have used carrot or peas to make it more nutritious. It is high on fiber and low on calories.

In India vermicelli is known as seviyan or semiyan. It is called Shavige in Kannada. The noodles are used in a number of dishes including a variation of kheer, a sweet dessert similar to rice pudding. Vermicelli is also used in many parts of India to make a popular dish called upma. To prepare it, dry oil-roasted vermicelli are boiled with a choice of vegetables.

There are many types of Vermicelli available in market- -Ragi Millet Vermicelli -Whole Wheat Vermicelli -Rice Vermicelli -Maida Vermicelli 〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️〰️ Ingredients 1.5 cup Whole Wheat Roasted Vermicelli 1 small Chopped Onion 1 teaspoon roasted peanuts 2 green chilles chopped. 1/2 cup Frozen Peas and carrots ( optional) .1 Tomato chopped .8 pieces of Curry leaves .1/8 teaspoon small mustard seeds .1/4 teaspoon Crushed chili peppers .Salt to taste, Lemon juice .1 tablespoon Oil Recipe- Heat oil in a kadhai/pan and add small mustard seeds ,green chilies,roasted peanuts and curry leaves. When they start to sputter mix in chopped onions and saute for a minute. Mix peas and carrots and cook for another 1 minute.Then add chopped tomatoes.
