“So it was you” he slowly walks up to her, he is past the table when her fingertips reach out for the pelt hoping the movement goes unnoticed, it doesn’t. He flings himself against her taking her by the arm holding tight his other hand goes directly to her neck as he drives her against a wall. Her skull hits the stone and her entire body vibrates with the impact, gritting her teeth she snarls at him. “Why?” His long fingers close around her throat pressing against her skin she can feel as they leave a mark. He leans in close to her ear, the scent of pine and something deep and intense, earthy. “I could so easily break you, fragile like a little sparrow” he presses his thumb into the curve of her jaw and neck.“But first answer me, why ?”

She watches him from afar; tall and fair, commanding men at land and at sea.
His voice is a coarse thing, low and melodic.
She thinks of it as she falls asleep.
Her father warns her of men and their capacity to harm.
To him, from where he hides beneath the ocean, life is danger.
To her, life is a mystery she must learn for herself.
She plans carefully.
She waits until nightfall to bury her skin in the sand, then dons her stolen dress.
She walks on novel, unsure legs until she finds him.
The tavern is loud, but it doesn’t matter.
His eyes scan her human form with hunger, appreciation.
He approaches her, speaks. She smiles.
He leads her around the room, hand warming her back.
She matches his steps gracelessly, giggling.
Under his attention, his affection, she blooms.
He leads her to his quarters, she follows.
From him she learns and she takes, to him she gives.
The cycle builds, and it crests, and it falls.
He leaves her as sated as her curiosity.
The vessel of his body is a home not unlike the one that awaits her beneath the sea.
Warmer, dryer, less familiar, but a comfort all the same.
In his arms, between the soft furs that line his bed, she finds bliss.
Head to his chest, she basks in his heat as his breathing grows more and more even.
Once he’s asleep, she untangles her limbs from his own.
She will miss him, she is certain.
She will think, for the rest of her life, of this one perfect night spent ashore.
Still, the sand beneath her bare feet is a relief.
She retraces her steps, the slight glow of first light ghosting along the horizon.
Her timing is perfect.
Except.
It is not where she’d left it.
The hole she’d dug in the sand is empty.
Behind remains a shallow grave.
Men stream towards her, leering.
Some she recognizes from the tavern, others she does not.
They form a circle, blocking her path.
He steps forward, this man she had trusted.
There’s a cruel gleam behind his once tender, steel-grey eyes.
“Have you lost something, ástin mín?”
So beautiful, he’d whispered, breath hot on her neck.
So good for me, tracing careful lips along her human spine.
Mine, he’d said, as she’d writhed beneath him.
What she’d taken for kindness had been a promise. A threat.
He clutches that which is precious to her in his hands.
He throws it to the crowd.
Men jostle to touch it, laugh as it tears.
“Eiginkona,” he says, words as soft as his hands and eyes are greedy. “My wife.”
She does not fear him.
She does not cower.
She is a woman of the sea, a force to be reckoned with.
She follows him, meekly as the coming tide laps at sand.
But in her hidden depths there is power.
He cannot fathom her own capacity to harm.
Once more, she makes her plans.

I forgot the name of this fic and the author so need help - It’s Draco/Hermione but I think the author mistagged (can’t remember if they correctly tagged it as a romantic relationship this time) can’t recall the plot but the summary had Justin Finch-Fletchley’s fault, selkies. Draco hasn’t changed mindset I think and Hermione takes none of his BS (maybe) and they strike a deal I guess or something IDK hope this is enough info to help me 😭
Best Laid Plans - Metaphora - M, 12 chapters - Considering how often the Ministry actively opposed Hermione's plans to introduce some efficiency, transparency and diversity in their departments, was it really her fault if she might have signed a contract that made her a pawn in an unknown wizard's attempt to gain power? After all, she was dealing with Justin Finch-Fletchley at the time and there had been imminent danger of a selkie massacre in Skye.

She tells him she wants to go home but he can't seem to let her go just yet. After all, she's still injured, so he takes it upon himself to keep her otter skin in the meantime.

3. What fandoms do you write for? right now mostly stranger things. I've got most of a ted lasso fic written but who knows if that'll get posted?? and prev, harry potter.
4. What are your top 5 fics by kudos?
1. don't take this sinner (dramione, marriage law ish),
2. same as it ever was (steddie, two timelines, one of my first steddie fics!)
3. carve your name into my chest (steddie, the hockey au of my dreams)
4. come get your man (he got lost in my DMs) (steddie, social media, steve being a horny DM guy)
5. there'll be a riot (cause I know you) (steddie, the matty-healy-rat-man-Eddie-vibed mostly smut fic)
5. Do you respond to comments? Why or why not? ugh. I WISH!!!! I want to be better at this, I really do. I usually start strong but I end up with limited energy/time and I want to filter that into writing more. if you've ever commented: I FUCKING LOVE YOU and think you're SO cool! if you really WANT a reply, the best way to get that is to ask me questions haha. it starts to feel weird just "thank you!"ing everyone, ya know?
6. What is the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending? I am.... not an angsty ending person tbqh! I think the closest is probably you love the sea, which is a flintwood rarepair selkie fic that I deeply love. it ends happy, insofaras they end up TOGETHER, but if you think more about the implications and how fucking sad it's going to be for oliver... well. I'll leave that to you guys.
7. What’s the fic you wrote with the happiest ending? god, I'm well known for having "endings so happy they border on absurd", according to one person online. so, pick your poison I guess! anyways the fic THAT person was referring to was same as it ever was, so, let's go with that!
8. Do you get hate on fics? I have been so lucky lately to not get much hate at all lately, which is a real privilege in the fandom world. remember that I cut my teeth in early days of harry potter, and people were BRUTAL. I definitely HAVE gotten hate - my aforementioned dramione fic has a bit of a weird twist that some people were PISSED about (and once I got an incredibly detailed comment about how badly I fucked up my representation of black Hermione because she... didn't talk that much about hating her hair? which I know is AN experience but not necessarily a universal one) but overall, at least this fandom go around, no hate. thank you, everyone, for that!
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind? yes. lots and lots and lots of it. mostly kinda kinky and pretty much all pretty gay. let's not talk about how many times I've had to tag dacryphilia and what that means. I just like when people fuck about things, yknow?
10. Do you write crossovers? What’s the craziest one you’ve written? nope, never! and I likely never will. too much to keep track of.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen? not that I know of, thank god for that.
12. Have you ever had a fic translated? I've had requests but... I would need a translator willing to work pretty closely with me because I want to make sure certain choices come across well, and I haven't found that yet.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before? not officially, though I did write a buckingham companion piece to the amazing cowboy-bar fic @riality-check did!
14. What’s your all time favorite ship? OH GOD don't make me choose! ALL TIME is still probably dramione, but steddie is a very close second. in terms of canon ships, I'm such a sucker for buffy/spike (leave me alone), and veronica mars/logan (AGAIN LEAVE ME ALONE) and rory/logan (BECAUSE RICH WHITE BOYS NAMED LOGAN ARE A WEAKNESS, APPARENTLY)
15. What’s a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will? pour one OUT for you can't take the sky from me, which is my firefly inspired harry potter au ft pansy/percy, mostly because I had so many big plans for it that I've completely forgotten AND I just can't write in that fandom at all anymore. sorry everyone, I do love what I put out and I wish there was more of it.
16. What are your writing strengths? prose, smut, tying things together with little bows, and spending way too much time in my characters heads
17. What are your writing weaknesses? dual POVs, getting so lost in one character I don't flesh out the others as much as I mean to, action sequences, and consistent motivation
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic? I've done it before (mostly in clean ice, cold hearts, can't lose) and my typical strategy is to indicate that the characters are speaking a diff language (in french, I use guillements and italics) but not to actually WRITE the french, unless it's very short and the POV character doesn't understand it on purpose like in carve.
19. First fandom you wrote for? harry potter baby! my oldest posted fic that I've found online was from 2002, when I was... too young to be interacting with the internet like that, that's for sure.
20. Favorite fic you’ve written? carve your name into my chest and it's no contest. I love same as it ever was as well, which I think is a better WRITTEN fic technically speaking, but carve was a huge passion project that I had so much fun with, and the response to it had been one of my favourite things in the world. oh, and special shout out to make this inn our own, which is my second longest fic ever and was just an absolute joy to do. so, those three, I guess!

Draco sat on the rocks, gazing. The night sky was lit by countless stars and the sea by their reflection. He sat there hoping, wishing upon every star that she would come, breathing in rhythm to the sea lazily crashing in spilling waves.
There was no moon upon him, only starlight and the candle he had brought. Charmed to survive the gale that sometimes rose, washing over the land, clinging to the cliffs and to the walls of his family’s seat. His hand toyed with the flame, his mind lost to memories of her and of her fascination with fire. His eyes drifted up to the stars, wishing again, and he let his heart soar high above him. She haunted his thoughts, made him wish to do grand and wonderful things in her name, and yet he could not. For all his wealth, Draco Malfoy could do absolutely nothing, for this was wrong.
He was wrong. Sitting at this beach hoping for her, wanting her, was wrong. Cheating on sweet but sickly Astoria was wrong. Having a relationship with a magical beast was wrong, but gods be damned, he could not be wrong when she felt so right.

It's possible that Hermione may have a bit of a hand kink in my current WIP...

He reached into his suit. Hermione couldn't help noticing how delicately and precise his fingers moved about. She hadn't noticed that before about him, but she certainly did now.
Draco pulled out a money pouch from the inside his suit and held it out for her to take. "Your pay," he explained when she didn't immediately respond to the action.
She blinked, realizing that she was staring too long. Much to her dismay, Draco had also noticed, and his eyes were now shining with absolute amusement. It was like he knew exactly the reason for why she hadn't pulled her eyes from him for so long.
Hermione accepted his offering then, not unaware that their hands had touched. Something flopped around a little in her gut, confusing her. She hadn't felt this way about a man in weeks.
She couldn't think about Draco Malfoy in such a way though. Not when she and Draco really had little in common and the two definitely wanted different things in their lives. And she especially couldn't think about a man when she had a mate who would stake his claim to her as soon as realized who she was to him.
Hermione decided that the only logical reason her hormones were acting this way was because she was missing the intimate touch of a male companion.
She really hoped her mate would find her soon. Hermione feared this need may become stronger.
"So you will come to my event tomorrow?"
"I don't typically do formal events," Hermione informed him. She hated how much attention that she had to give her hair in order to look appropriate.
"It would please me to see you there."
Hermione grunted. "I'm seeing someone, just so you know. So you can stop wasting your time with me." The thought of his hands were instantly at the top of her mind again, and she wondered what other uses those hands would be good for.
She quickly shook those thoughts away. Damn, she was losing it, and it was so strange how sudden it came on.
One of Draco's eyebrows flipped up. "Oh? That's quite unfortunate. You are not married though?" His lips formed a knowing smirk.
"Not yet anyway," she emphasized. "But I'm sure we will be united soon enough!"
Oh, please let that be true, she thought to herself, begging whichever god that was listening to her.
"Then you may bring your boyfriend to my event with you, and together, the two of you can enjoy a night out on me." He shrugged, not at all bothered that she was "taken". "Call it a gift."
"Thank you, but I'll be busy tomorrow."
It was best if Hermione stayed as far away from this man as humanly possible.
