NEW BOOK SUBMISSION
FIRST CREATION || MARS ADLER
Another day, another book entry! Today the Queer Book Directory spit out First Creation by Mars Adler!
First Creation is a high spice horror novella following the Angel of Truth, Amitiel, as he runs from his fellow angels with the fallen angel Stolas. It's a lovely novella that I would argue is cozy horror, if you find cannibalism and the eroticization of The Horrors as cozy.
There's also the peach scene. I will never be able to look at peaches the same way.
SUMMARY
Amitiel, an angel of God, and Stolas, a fallen angel-turned-spy, should be enemies. However, after they uncover a shocking secret that drives them to desert, they go on the run together in modern-day America. Both are injured, and it’s only by chance that they stumble upon a long-abandoned church.
Ensconced in the alluring, stifling church with a forgotten cemetery and too many peach trees, they finally have time to heal. They also have time to think and plan, which is as much a blessing as it is a curse.
Amitiel must come to terms with his strange hunger and forbidden desires, while Stolas plans their next move. They both grapple with the knowledge of where their food rations came from, and that something is very wrong in the heart of Heaven itself. God has vanished, and if he isn’t giving the orders, who is condoning the atrocities the angels commit in the name of winning?
FIRST CREATION is an erotic horror novella. It is a love letter to fallen angels, rediscovering religion in a way that works for you, queer rage, and hunger of all kinds. It deals with some very heavy themes and is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. For a full list of content warnings please check the author’s website.

what's ibvs???
it stands for isaac beamer versus the supernatural! it’s an ao3 story that I’ve been working on since 2016. it started out as a utmv project but all of those specific characters became ocs pretty quickly due to them diverting from having any similarities to the characters they were inspired by, so anyone can read it 👍 if you click on the readmore of my directory post, you’ll find a link pretty easily.
it’s a melodramatic comedy about a bunch of idiot teenagers who coincidentally happen to have powers that they’re trying to keep a secret all while trying to figure out what’s wrong with their town. although there are a lot of characters who take turns being the mc, the real mcs are isaac and edward, an ostracized artist and a popular jock who do not get along but become unlikely friends because of their curiosity towards the unknown and their similar secrets. also this story is very gay.

What are some anti-therapy programs that survivors should be on the lookout for and how to deal with them if they’re triggered? And do you have any recommendations for good therapists who are educated on RA/MC and offer secular therapy?
Also, what are your thoughts on hypnosis as a memory recovery tool? I’ve heard it can distort memories or create false ones. Would it be better for survivors to avoid therapists who use this method or can it be done safely?
Some of the programs that could impact therapy are:
Silence-Shut Down Programs-When enacted, such programs will cause the subject to "stop talking" and to cease revealing information. Though such programs may be triggered through awide variety of modalities, enactment via self-touch triggers are particularly common. Some shutdown programs will be directed toward specific alters, while others are meant for the system in general. Silence Programming- no talk programming.
Burning Programs-Burning programs are linked to Silence programs, and self punishment programs. Common modes of burning include: cigarettes, lighters, hot metal implements (i.e., knives, rods, wands), and/or a variety of scalding (or flammable) liquids and caustic chemicals.
Don’t Talk; Don’t Tell Programming- Triggers flooding, body memories, spinning programs if the subject attempts to talk about programming.
Nightmare-Night Terror Programs- Similar to flooding programs, subjects are conditioned to become overwhelmed with terrifying images/memories while asleep. They serve to keep the subject run-down and fatigued. Often, nightmare programs are triggered or tripped automatically when processing forbidden material in therapy.
Reporting Programs-Subjects are programmed to routinely contact and report back to their handler. These programs may be time-triggered (every month, full moon, etc.), date-triggered(i.e., corresponding to cult "holidays", etc.), or situational triggered (i.e., host personality enters therapy, reveals cult "secrets," etc.). Such programs keep the handler updated on the subject’s daily life.
Spin Programming-Designed to spread effects such as pain, painful emotions, and other feelings or urges globally throughout a subject’s personality system for purposes of either designing and building a young subject's personality system, or harassing older subjects and disrupting psychotherapy.
Therapy Interference Programs-Programs designed to interfere with the therapeutic process which trigger the subject to: (1) not see, (2) not think for self, (3) stay distracted, and (4) become resistant, mistrustful, and/or obnoxious toward the therapist.
Abreaction programming- Gives the subject topics to talk about in therapy or with other outside individuals who may be attempting to assist the subject.
The survivor may not know the programming is triggered during therapy. Often people leave therapy due to the programming feeling overwhelming and attributing it to therapy being ‘too much.’
I suggest working with a therapist to identify when a program has been triggered. This could be by identifying the symptoms of the program (cement mouth, feeling dizzy, flooding).
Focusing on safety. How to cope with the program. Ways to communicate. How to stay engaged in healing.

my very first earnest attempt at drawing my boy when i was first playing ilitw vs my most recent stab at it again, five years later. i'd like to think that i've shown some noticeable improvement...? at the very least, i've switched art programs since then, thank fucking god.

His name is Oscar Velasco. Technically, the name is Óscar, but the thing about growing up as a kid of color in a majority-white town is that you eventually give up on correcting your teachers when they mispronounce your name and resign yourself to going along with it.
His favorite animals are dogs and corvids, crows especially. His parents didn’t let him have pets as a kid, but he would sneak food to the crows that hung around the house because he read once on an animal fact card that crows can remember faces and thought it was super cool. He eventually managed to win their trust, and they started to follow him around and bring him gifts. When he was in middle school, one of his crows left a dead sparrow on his windowsill which was, like, kind of disturbing, but also sick as hell? He didn’t want it to go to waste, so he cleaned up the skull and turned it into a pendant. When Ava finally hears the story behind it she literally starts shaking him by the shoulders out of excitement because holy shit, that’s metal as fuck, and also, you gotta introduce me to your crowbros now.
He was kind of quiet and withdrawn as a kid. Entering kindergarten as a kid with undiagnosed ADHD was like being thrown into the deep end of the swimming pool with weights tied to his ankles. He was smart, but had troubling understanding and remembering directions long enough to follow them. It didn't help, either, that his teachers back then were often short with him, mistaking his confusion for oppositional noncompliance. So he was the kid who spent most of his time in class spacing out or doodling absently in the margins of his sheetwork, and most of his recesses hiding under a picnic table reading books he brought from home...
...at least, until he met Jane. It was nice to have someone to protect and look out for, someone who genuinely believed in him. He felt like he could do anything as long as she needed him to be strong for her. And then Jane died, and everyone else drifted away, and he went back to hiding under picnic tables. But at least he got in a few good years of a normal, happy childhood.
He's not used to being a priority in people's lives and he truly doesn't expect people to care about him with the same intensity that he does for them. When he sacrificed himself so that Noah wouldn't have to, that was kind of supposed to be the end of it. If he thinks too hard about Noah coming back for him, confronting his fears and letting the Power back into his life to find a way to save him, his head might explode. Anyway this is the only thing I can say about their dynamic without wanting to throw myself into the ocean:

Kill Your Boss post because it's the new book club book!!! Yes!!!!!! Gonna finish this motherfucker so fast. Part 1 here.
Where we last left our mafioso, the capos were supposed to meet the boss in their dandiest digs to plead their case. Logan and MC show up first, but Logan gets called away to check the dog pit. Yes. They have a dog pit. There's dogs in it. Death by puppy it shall be. I just--murder ain't my area, but I feel like there must be a less outrageous method to choose as your signature gang kill. Like. Hm. Is this a "it's so overt it's covert" thing or. How are these guys still in operation.
ANYWAY, MC and the boss chat about how MC has the nicest clothes and fanciest outfits. The boss favors Logan + MC to become the next Boss + Under-boss. However, he's worries there's a mole in the gang, because someone gave him a rap sheet of his crimes and how the courts could convict him. MC is like "Wait. That's not my report. Is one of my co-workers here?? Damn, I knew I should have familiarized myself with the Employee Directory." asdfghjkl;'sfjlf DUDE
The boss's drink runs out, and MC politely pours him more from a glass decanter. But oh no!! The drink is poisoned!!! The titular prophecy has come true!
MC panics. Logan returns and is like "MC...okay, I AM mad, but not disappointed." He throws the decanter against the wall to shatter the evidence because no shit is this a set up. They rush the boss to the hospital.
Hours later, said hospital is full of extremely jittery, extremely well-dressed gang members. Riam and his cohorts march in and demand an explanation. They've supposedly run fingerprints on the decanter shards and oh noes, Logan and MC's fingerprints are on it! Riam and Logan square off. Riam has a gun and Logan literally brings a knife to a gun fight. BOY. LOL
You have a choice to protect either man. I chose Logan because, for all his "murder is my preferred love language," he seems the most straightforward and honest. Riam shoots, and MC gets to see his own blood spray the wall, as a treat.
MC wakes up with an extremely distressed Logan at his bedside. They literally do the forehead boop thing and whisper desperate "Are we okay?" pleas while fingers card through hair and OUCH MY HEART. 💔💔💔
Everyone knows a gang war is on the horizon. Logan leaves to make preparations (nooo, don't go, the plot happens when you leaveeeeee) and let MC rest. One time skip later, MC is discharged with a gnarly-looking bandage. He makes contact with his CIA handler, who is very displeased about this whole affair. For some reason, she wants Logan in charge. Part of MC's mission is to ensure a smooth transition to Logan's reign. This is despite like, clearly having enough evidence to put the original boss and his two potential successors in jail.
Since Logan is under suspicion for the old boss's murder, Riam is poised to become the new boss. The CIA handler instructs MC to go to a secret sex club to get dirt on Riam and put Logan back on top.
And now we're back into full on fun. This isn't just a sex club: it's a secret BDSM sex club (gasp!), and Riam is one of their top clients. Code name White Stallion, he promises "a prize" to anyone who can "tame" him. Which supposedly no one has actually done, but turns out to be incredibly easy.
MC interrupts Riam's session with a dominatrix, which is rude, and she involves him in play without okay-ing everything first, which is very rude. MC takes it in stride and, once again, stomps on Reim's cock. i was in STITCHES AHHH LOL. MC gets a short villain monologue like "Haha! I know you're the White Stallion!" and flees.
Logan calls and asks MC to meet him in Logan's room, which, interestingly, looks exactly like MC's room. 👀 When MC arrives, Logan is like "Why do you smell like sweat and perfume?" and gets a wee bit possessive. By "wee bit" i mean, full on kabedon whilst kissing and teasing mutual handjobs. Gorgeous cheesy dialogue flits through the air like "Don't forget the lap you most love to sit on," and some solid advice like "Stay away from Riam: we're enemies now." The story is HORNY and I LOVE IT. It's blisteringly evident that Logan has fallen in love with his best friend/fuck buddy, and he doesn't know what to do with these emotions. And he's conflicted about the whole dead boss/gang war situation.
MC WISHES he could stay away from Riam, but his next text message is a helluva cold shower: Riam knows he's CIA and demands MC meet him. IDK why MC doesn't like, abort mission. Besides that this story still has 16 chapters. Anyway, he drives to an abandoned warehouse and is immediately surrounded by Riam's men. They escort him inside and the warehouse is all done up like a 5 star restaurant because....
this is a dinner date.
THESE TWO DORKS eat PASTA and POLITELY CHIT CHAT for a whole meal!!!! Pretending that everything is fine???!!! We're flirting now?? I guess we're flirting??? asdfghjkl;kjhgfds
FINALLY, the mask drops, and Riam says MC must join his side or be exposed. Logan may love MC, but that love doesn't necessarily win out over his loyalty to the gang. MC counters that he'll expose Riam as the White Stallion. Reim pushes MC to his knees and we get this CG:

Riam tells MC to lick his shoe (aka join him) or die. I was sweating bullets at this point. I don't want to betray Logan! There's no going back on forehead boop friends!! I clicked the option to refuse. I was fully expecting that my MC would die. It's happened before.
But no!!! MC defies fate! He head-butts Riam in the crotch.
how has this man made it to capo. Against the dulcet tones of horny groans, MC runs. Riam's men catch him, and MC is once again beaten into unconsciousness. He wakes up hours and miles away and by his bed...is his co-worker, Noah Young!!! Is he the other mole?!
I dunno! Noah is an Love Interest and he explains he's been sent in undercover to help MC out. As Riam's new secretary, he can feed MC info, and, if Logan fails, he can be the new CIA informant. I thought it was p clever. "He must be the adorable, sweet love interest!" I think right up until Noah points a gun at MC's head and the chapter ends.

About Me:
My name is Jason, I’m a young adult trans guy (he/him), and bisexual. I’m currently taking full-time university classes double majoring in Psychology (mainly) and Creative Writing (secondary). I’m Canadian!
I’ve been writing fiction in some capacity basically my entire life, since elementary school. But I only started writing frequently / seriously in high school.

I almost exclusively write fantasy, usually involving mythological creatures like dragons, mermaids, sirens, selkies, werewolves, vampires, etc! Always involving magic and many LGBTQ+ characters! I also occasionally write and post short stories which you can find here.
A Selkie’s Home - Main WIP
What happens when a mistrusting selkie woman, a man who is secretly a sea monster, a man who yearns to sail, and a powerful monster hunting sea witch all end up stuck together? A chaotic adventure full of magic, secrets, bloody sword fights, friendship, and love as the group uncovers evils both above and below the waves.

Dragons Of The Forge
A cyberpunk world where many unique kinds of dragons live side by side with humans, and a dictator rules. A mlm / gay deaf MC Oliver, his crush Sammy who uses a wheelchair, and their friend Savannah who has ADHD each have their own dragon partners. The sequel to A Selkie’s Home and 2nd book in the trilogy. In A Witch’s Curse, Lorelai, a sea witch, finds herself on a tiny ship when suddenly the flashbacks of her traumatic past begin to haunt and disturb her much, much more frequently than they have in a long time. But when a horde of strangely crazed violent selkies begin attacking the group, it’s not Lorelai’s traumatic past that is brought to life– it’s Morgan’s, the selkie on board. When Morgan flees into the sea, she has no idea that she is leading all of them towards new discoveries, new friends, and right into the hands of their enemy: The Navy.
