Dysphoria
Secondo me, as the Italians say, it seems to me that what we’re seeing across the UK, Europe and the US is the great reactionary resurgence. The reaction is partly of the miserable bastards who deep down have always resented the challenge to patriarchy, disliked all the great change on behalf of women since the sixties. Partly, its fundamentally racist, anti-immigration, even of those who are immigrants or children of immigrants themselves. And partly it’s driven by small-minded, small business people who are jealous of those with jobs in bigger, especially public sector, organisations with more security. And partly it’s driven by irrational fear, of the other, of being absorbed into something bigger, of losing identity. Here’s Shedman's Brexit poem, Dysphoria. You’ll find it in Barry Smith’s latest Poetry & All That Jazz and many thanks to Barry for the huge amount of work he’s been putting into the South Downs Poetry Festival and other activities to support poets all across the the South of England.
In the shed of his remaining days, mulling history both personal and public, stratified in splintered years, like the larch lap slats along the wall, he realises how the residue of prejudice tanks his psyche’s depth, caustic tar that oozes up to foul each thought with racist, sexist filth, cultural resentment. He bathes in secret in this wash of hate, believes   it better to let such feelings rise. No. Not to affect how he behaves, but be recognised for what they are. Monstrosities waiting in the dark.

メルセデス・ベンツ Aクラスセダンに見る、クリーンなディーゼルが大衆車に広がる難しさ【週刊クルマのミライ】
■A200dセダンは、アンモニアスリップ触媒(ASC)を 備えた、日本市場の乗用車で他に類を見ないクリーンディーゼル メルセデスのラインナップでいうところのエントリーサルーン「Aクラスセダン」に、最新の2.0Lディーゼルを搭載した新グレード「A200d」が追加設定されることが発表されています。すでに予約は始まっており、納車時期は4月頃。メーカー希望小売価格は420万円(消費税10%込み)とアナウンスされています。 最高出力110kW・最大トルク320Nmという「OM654q」エンジンはフロントに横置きされ、8速DCTによってフロントタイヤを駆動します。すでにハッチバックのAクラスには設定済みですから、Aクラスセダンに搭載されることは既定路線で驚くことではありません。 とはいえ、あらためて日本市場で売られている乗用車としては他に類を見ない、最高の排ガス浄化システムを搭載した最新クリーンディーゼルの処理システムを見ていくと、クリーンディーゼルの進化はまだまだ続くと理解できると同時に、このままでは大衆車からはディーゼルが消えてしまうかもしれないとも思ってしまうのです。まずは、メルセデス自身の説明文を引用して紹介します。 排出ガスの浄化システムはエンジンに近接し搭載されたことで、排出ガスの温度 低下による浄化効率の低下を防ぐことを可能にしています。ターボチャージャーから 出た排出ガスは、まず酸化触媒へ送られた後、AdBlue®が添加されます。下流の sDPF(DPF with SCR Coating : 選択触媒還元法コーティング付粒子状物質除去 フィルター)で粒子状物質の捕集と窒素酸化物の低減を行った後、SCR触媒でさらに 窒素酸化物の処理を行います。 その後、新しく追加されたSCR触媒でさらに窒素酸化物 の低減を行うと同時に、余剰のアンモニアを処理するアンモニアスリップ触媒(ASC) を備えることで、運転状況が急激に変化した場合にもアンモニアが外気中に放出される ことを防ぐことが可能となりました。その結果、常に十分な量のAdBlue®を噴霧することが可能となり、窒素酸化物の処理能力を高めることに成功しており、日本市場 で販売される乗用車では他に類を見ない排出ガス処理システムとなっています。 この説明文だけでもターボチャージャーの下流に4つの触媒が配されていることが読み取れますが、ポイントは最後にアンモニアスリップ触媒(ASC)が装着されていることです。NOx(窒素酸化物)を処理するためにAdBlue(尿素水)を利用するのですが、メルセデスが説明しているようにAdBlueを噴射しすぎるとアンモニアがすり抜けてしまいます。それを防ぐためにAdBlueを少なめにして排ガス浄化を妥協するという手もありますが、ASCを搭載することでNOx処理に適切なAdBlueを噴射することができるというわけです。 メルセデスがすごいと思うのはエントリーモデルであるAクラス級であっても、妥協なくクリーンディーゼルを進化させている点です。こうしてメルセデスがコンパクトクラスにおいてもディーゼルのクリーン度についてハードルを上げていくと、法規的には求められなくても、ユーザーの期待値は同等レベルを求めるようになるでしょう。 しかし、他社のもっとアフォーダブル(手頃)な価格が求められるコンパクトカーのディーゼルエンジン搭載グレードにおいて、メルセデスと同程度のクリーンさを求められるようになると、それを実現するのは難しいと感じます。 そうはいっても、将来的にはディーゼルエンジンの排ガス処理の手段としてASCのような機能がマストになるでしょうし、コストが上がっていくことは否めません。ディーゼルエンジンについてはエンジン本体というよりも後処理のコストが車両価格に影響しているといわれて久しいですが、いま以上にクリーンな排ガスが求められるようになると、価格面で厳しいコンパクトクラスではディーゼルエンジンを積むことが難しくなってきそうです。 コンパクトクラスにおいて、スーパークリーンなディーゼルエンジンを積んでいることがプレミアム性の象徴となる。そんな未来がやって来るかもしれません。 日本市場でもっともクリーンといえるディーゼルエンジンを積むメルセデスA200d。メーカー希望小売価格は420万円から (自動車コラムニスト・山本晋也) あわせて読みたい * メルセデス・ベンツCLA/CLAシューティングブレークに、「180」と「35 4MATIC」が追加設定【新車】 * メルセデス・ベンツAクラスセダンに、トルクフルな走りと低燃費が魅力の「A 200 d セダン」が追加【新車】 * 「メルセデス・ベンツ ミディアムクラス(W124)」最善最良のドイツ製セダン/ワゴンはなぜ伝説化された?【ネオ・クラシックカー・グッドデザイン太鼓判:輸入車編】 * メルセデス・ベンツ Cクラスの次期型プロトタイプがニュルで進化した走りを披露 * 3月のジュネーブショーで初公開か? メルセデス・ベンツ 最強クーペSUV、新型AMG「GLE63」は571馬力 http://dlvr.it/RQyYNk

Mercedes-Benz C 300 d - ‘Mr Clean’
De acordo com a atual edição da revista especializada em automóveis "Auto Motor und Sport", as emissões em doze veículos testados de diferentes marcas mostram que o Mercedes-Benz Classe C 300 d Station (consumo de combustível em ciclo combinado: 5.6-5.0 l/100 km, emissões de CO2 em ciclo combinado: 147-133 g/km), praticamente não emitiu NOx. Os veículos ligeiros de passageiros Mercedes-Benz equipados com a mais recente tecnologia Diesel atingem valores médios de 20 a 30 mg/km de NOx nas condições RDE.

No que diz respeito às emissões de óxido de azoto dos veículos Diesel dos diferentes fabricantes, o ADAC afirma: "Os motores Diesel Euro-6d-TEMP emitem, em média, menos 76% de NOx do que os motores Diesel Euro-6b, e menos 85% do que os motores Diesel Euro-5.

A norma Euro 6d é ainda mais exigente devido às suas menores tolerâncias de medição. A Mercedes-Benz iniciou uma ofensiva a nível de motores em 2016, que incluiu os novos motores Diesel de quatro cilindros (OM 654 e OM 654q) bem como os motores Diesel de seis cilindros em linha (OM 656). Com esta base, que está associada a investimentos de cerca de três mil milhões de euros, um vasto conjunto de modelos Diesel Mercedes-Benz, desde o Classe A ao GLS, já respeitam atualmente a norma Euro 6d.

As medições em laboratório de acordo com o WLTP são suplementadas pelo designado teste RDE (Real Driving Emissions). As emissões de poluentes (incluindo o óxido de azoto e as partículas) são medidas nos veículos diretamente na estrada e o cumprimento dos limites com os fatores de conformidade é verificado.

A Mercedes-Benz não só evita a formação de emissões de partículas, como também utiliza tecnologia altamente complexa de controlo de emissões. O sistema de controlo de emissões, instalado junto ao motor, apresenta baixas perdas térmicas e as suas condições de funcionamento são extremamente favoráveis na vasta maioria das situações de utilização. As medidas adicionais incluem:
Recirculação dos gases de escape de alta e de baixa pressão, incluindo    arrefecimento.
Um catalisador de oxidação Diesel (DOC) para evitar a emissão de     monóxido de carbono (CO) e hidrocarbonetos (HC) não queimados.
Um filtro de partículas para capturar as partículas de fuligem     combinado com a função catalítica SCR (sDPF).
Um catalisador SCR (redução catalítica seletiva) para reduzir os óxidos de azoto. Para esta finalidade, é injetado amoníaco na forma de     AdBlue® nos gases de escape, sendo estes últimos condicionados antes de entrarem no sDPF,
um catalisador adicional (SCR) com revestimento catalisador de     amoníaco não reagido (ASC) por debaixo do piso do veículo.

Condromalácia patelar
"
A condromalácia patelar também é chamada de síndrome da dor patelofemoral (SDPF). Essa nomenclatura é empregada em casos onde ocorrem condições múltiplas associadas à dor patelofemoral. Consiste em uma condição comum em pessoas fisicamente ativas, com algias intensas em região anteropatelar e retropatelar, referida durante a subida ou descida de degraus, andar de bicicleta, saltar, correr, agachar, dentre outros movimentos que exigem determinados graus de flexão e extensão da articulação do joelho.

Causas
Normalmente a dor relacionada à condromalácia encontra-se especificamente na região anterior do joelho. A principal característica da condromalácia se dá por conta de um amolecimento patológico da cartilagem articular, podendo originar um processo degenerativo da cartilagem articular. A condromalácia caracteriza-se por apresentar dor, edema e crepitação retropatelar, aumentando a sensibilidade local, associando-se ao desequilíbrio funcional da musculatura do quadríceps, gerando atrofia de vasto medial e encurtamento de trato iliotibial. Porém, a patologia pode se manifestar por conta de traumas esportivos, ocasionados pelo excesso de atividade física, sobrecarga de peso ou corridas excessivas, tendo como maior predominância a manifestação em mulheres jovens.

A condromalácia se dá a partir da ação compressiva anormal e repetitiva sobre a cartilagem articular. Essa compressão ocorre a partir da ausência de congruência e diminuição da área de contato femoropatelar, quando uma subluxação ou deslocamento patelar for causado por um contato anormal da anatomia e da biomecânica, podendo ser causada também por radiculopatia lombar ou pinçamentos de terminações nervosas periféricas. Algumas classificações podem ser observadas no que se refere à condromalácia patelar:
Grau I: amolecimento da cartilagem e edema;
Grau II: fragmentação de cartilagem ou fissuras menores que 1.3cm de diâmetro; fibrilação; frangeamento;
Grau III: fragmentação ou fissuras com 1.3cm de diâmetro ou mais; lesão parcial da cartilagem;
Grau IV: perda de cartilagem e dano ao tecido ósseo subcondral; lesão total da cartilagem;
A cartilagem articular da patela é estruturalmente a mais espessa do corpo, não seguindo o contorno do tecido subcondral. Com o passar do tempo, tende a se tornar menos espessa, mesmo que não haja nenhuma patologia, no entanto as alterações decorrentes do processo de envelhecimento tendem a deteriorar o tecido e diminuir a funcionalidade. Quanto às propriedades mecânicas, é importante destacar que a cartilagem hialina possui grandes habilidades, como resistência às tensões, compressões, torções e extensibilidade, determinadas pelos componentes presentes na MEC (matriz extra celular). Porém, a integridade e função da cartilagem dependem da interação dos componentes da MEC e o fluido intersticial. Já a superfície articular promove a baixa permeabilidade de fluidos, servindo assim para restringir os fluidos exsudatos e aumentando a pressurização do fluido intersticial, tornando assim a articulação mais funcional, com maior suporte de cargas e mantendo as propriedades físicas e biológicas.

Sintomas, diagnóstico e tratamento
No caso da progressão da condromalácia patelar, as alterações iniciam na matriz extra celular, onde a composição colágena da cartilagem sofre rupturas, diminuindo progressivamente a quantidade de proteoglicanos. Dessa forma, há um prejuízo na MEC, comprometendo a função dos condrócitos, degenerando-os desde a camada mais superficial até a mais profunda. Com as alterações biomecânicas causadas pelo quadro degenerativo da patologia, percebe-se que o desequilíbrio patelofemoral resulta em uma combinação de sintomas que podem levar à diminuição drástica da funcionalidade, resultando em tensões desequilibradas entre os grupos musculares estabilizadores, diminuição de força muscular, excesso de tensão em estruturas ligamentares, falha mecânica, desvios posturais patelares e até mesmo dos segmentos superior e inferior à patela. Dependendo do estágio em que a lesão pode se encontrar ao ser diagnosticada, provavelmente o paciente estará incapacitado para o desenvolvimento desportivo de alto nível. Porém, vale lembrar que o processo de reabilitação, incluindo reforço muscular e alongamentos, tornam muito mais próximo de proporcionar ao paciente o retorno à funcionalidade e desenvolvimento das atividades desportivas, tanto de caráter de tratamento, visando a prevenção da manifestação de sintomas ou de patologias, quanto para a prática de forma geral.

Vozidla, homologovaná v souladu s emisní normou Euro 6d-TEMP, se vyznačují výrazně nižšími emisemi NOx. Tuto normu splňují všechny nové osobní vozy Mercedes-Benz, které lze v současnosti objednávat. Mercedes-Benz kromě toho nabízí na trhu již dnes řadu vozidel, která splňují ještě přísnější emisní normu Euro 6d, která bude postupně závazná od 1.1.2020.
Na začátku desetiletí přijaté rozhodnutí vyvinout zcela novou generaci motorů nese ovoce. Inovativní technologie zajišťují nízké emise NOx. Díky tomu splňují po přechodu na novou generaci motorů všechny aktuálně nabízené nové osobní vozy Mercedes-Benz nejen normu Euro 6d-TEMP, ale případně už také ještě přísnější Euro 6d.
Limity emisí NOx – u normy Euro 6d platí hodnota 80 miligramů na jeden kilometr i při měření podle metody RDE (Real Driving Emissions) za jízdy – patří mezi limity, které nesmí být při měřeních emisí překročeny, a to při každé platné jízdě RDE. To znamená, že vozidlo nesmí tuto hodnotu přesáhnout ani při nejméně příznivých kombinacích podmínek RDE – například při velkém zatížení vozidla, kopcovitém profilu trasy a nepříznivých teplotách i dopravních situacích. Limit přitom platí nejen pro nová vozidla, ale i pro vozidla s více než 100 000 ujetými kilometry. Nezávislá měření potvrzují, že v reálných testech na silnicích zůstávají naměřené hodnoty osobních automobilů Mercedes-Benz často výrazně pod limitem 80 miligramů na kilometr.

Mercedes C 300 d se zařadil na vrchol našeho žebříčku čistých vozů
Odborný časopis auto motor und sport měřil emise dvanácti testovaných vozů různých značek a v aktuálním vydání uvádí, že testovaný Mercedes C 300 d kombi měl „téměř nulové emise NOx“. V textu následují ještě přesnější výsledky měření u vozu Mercedes-Benz C 300 d kombi (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva 5,6-5,0 l/100 km, kombinované emise CO2 147-133 g/km): „S pouhými 13 miligramy NOxse zařadil na vrchol našeho žebříčku čistých vozů. Donedávna bylo nemyslitelné, aby vznětové motory vůbec mohly dosáhnout takových hodnot. Nový dvoulitrový turbodiesel s označením OM 654 byl však důsledně koncipován pro nízké emise. Problém mnoha měst s emisemi NOx by se tak mohl vyřešit s rostoucími počty registrovaných nových automobilů.“
Autoklub ADAC zveřejnil v únoru 2019 zprávu o vlastních rozsáhlých měřeních: „Emise NOx aktuálních automobilů jsou v reálném provozu na silnicích hluboce pod limity pro laboratorní měření.“ Mimořádně pozitivně byl hodnocen Mercedes-Benz C 220 d (kombinovaná spotřeba paliva 4,8 l/100 km, kombinované emise CO2 126-117 g/km), „jeho hodnota emisí NOx byla sotva měřitelná, mezi 0 a jedním mg/km“.
Tato měření ukazují, že výzvu NOx lze s novou generací motorů technicky vyřešit i u automobilů s pohonem na naftu. Průměrné emise vozidel při ujetí mnohatisícikilometrové vzdálenosti jsou v tomto ohledu ještě výrazně výmluvnější. Při tomto měření dosahují osobní vozy Mercedes-Benz s nejnovější technikou vznětových motorů průměrných hodnot 20 až 30 mg NOx na kilometr za podmínek RDE.
ADAC na téma emisí oxidů dusíku u vozidel se vznětovými motory různých výrobců aktuálně zjistil: „Vznětové motory Euro 6d-TEMP vypouštějí v průměru o 76 procent méně NOx než vznětové motory Euro 6b a o 85 procent méně než turbodiesely Euro 5. Namátkové zkoušky při měřeních na silnicích ukázaly, že u dobrých vznětových motorů Euro 6d-TEMP došlo ke snížení emisí v porovnání s průměrnými vznětovými motory Euro 5 dokonce o 95 až 99 procent.“ Ještě přísnější je norma Euro 6d, která umožňuje jen nízké přípustné tolerance měření. Norma Euro 6d je pro nové typy předepsána od 1.1.2020 a pro ostatní vozidla začne platit o rok později. Mercedes-Benz zahájil již v roce 2016 ofenzivu v oblasti motorů. V jejím rámci byly vyvinuty zcela nově koncipované vznětové čtyřválce (OM 654 a OM 654q) a šestiválce (OM 656). Na tomto základě, který si vyžádal investice tři miliardy eur, splňuje již dnes řada modelů Mercedes-Benz se vznětovými motory normu Euro 6d – od Třídy A až po GLE.
Pohled do zákulisí
1. Měření emisí probíhá nejen v laboratořích, ale také na silnicích. Fotbalisté vědí, že o výsledku se rozhoduje na hřišti. Tímto hřištěm jsou při měřeních emisí silnice. Proto je podle normy Euro 6d-TEMP, resp. ještě důslednější a přísnější Euro 6d, laboratorní měření podle metodiky WLTP doplněno tzv. testem RDE (Real Driving Emissions). Emise škodlivin (mj. oxidy dusíku a pevné částice) jsou v tomto případě měřeny u vozidel přímo v silničním provozu. Kontroluje se tím dodržování limitů s přihlédnutím k faktorům konformity. Níže uvedená grafika ukazuje, jak náročná jsou tato měření.
2. Mercedes-Benz zabraňuje samotnému vzniku emisí a vzniklé emise velmi důkladně čistí. Příkladem je motor OM 654q: Díky zdokonalenému systému dodatečného čištění výfukových plynů splňuje výkonný čtyřválec z moderní řady motorů OM 654 již dnes druhou fázi normy RDE (Real Driving Emissions), která bude závazná až od roku 2020, a je homologován v souladu s normou Euro 6d. Systém dodatečného čištění výfukových plynů má díky uložení v blízkosti motoru a tepelné izolaci malé ztráty tepla a v naprosté většině provozních situací velmi příznivé provozní podmínky. Mezi další opatření patří:

vysokotlaká a nízkotlaká recirkulace výfukových plynů včetně jejich chlazení,
oxidační katalyzátor pro vznětové motory, snižující emise oxidu uhelnatého (CO) a nespálených uhlovodíků (HC),
filtr pevných částic k odstraňování pevných částic v kombinaci s funkcí katalyzátoru SCR (sDPF),
katalyzátor SCR (selektivní katalytická redukce) pro snižování emisí oxidů dusíku. Za tím účelem je do výfukových plynů před sDPF přiváděn amoniak v podobě roztoku AdBlue,
dodatečný katalyzátor pod podlahou vozidla (SCR) s povrchovou ��pravou pro funkci zásobníkového katalyzátoru k odstraňování amoniaku (ASC).
Dodatečné čištění výfukových plynů na příkladu vznětového motoru OM 654q
Tzv. demonstrátor emisí NOx z vývoje osobních vozů Mercedes-Benz se vznětovým motorem má ukázat, jak účinně pracuje čištění výfukových plynů. Vozidlo odpovídá motorem a systémem dodatečného čištění výfukových plynů i softwarem řídicí jednotky 100% sériovému stavu. Dodatečné senzory a možnosti vizualizace umožňují „sledovat“ při jízdě na silnicích emise v mnoha jízdních situacích.
3. Vzhledem k tomu, že limity musí být dodrženy za všech možných kombinací provozních parametrů, jsou emise v reálném provozu obvykle pod předepsanými limity.
Dodržování limitů musí být u každého typu vozidla prokázáno v náročných homologačních měřeních, v laboratořích i na silnicích. Vozidla jsou za tím účelem vybavena přenosným zařízením pro měření emisí PEMS (Portable Emission Measurement System).

V-Class – the successful model just got even more attractive
In 2014, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class premiere saw a completely new approach to design, value appeal, comfort and safety being introduced into the MPV segment. The concept went on to be a true success: proof of this can be found in the 209,000 or so V-Class units that have been sold since its market launch in 2014, a sales record in 2018 with some 64,000 units, one of the youngest buyer groups at Mercedes-Benz and successful launches in other markets, especially in Asia. At the start of 2019, India was the latest V-Class market to be added to the equation. And the facelift will now make for a refreshing feel to the already successful model. Focal points include a re-styled and striking front-end design, as well as the introduction of the OM 654 four-cylinder diesel engine generation – with the V 300 d reaching the new top value of 176 kW (239 hp) (combined fuel consumption 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165-154 g/km)*1.
Plus, the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission is available for the first time, while safety and assistance systems, among them Active Brake Assist, have been brought up to the latest technological level. The new V-Class can be ordered in Europe from March 2019. Prices in Germany start from 36,990 euros (including 19 percent VAT). Furthermore, Mercedes-Benz Vans is continuing to evolve its eDrive@VANs electrification strategy and will soon be offering a fully-electric MPV.
New design and even greater comfort
The style and value appeal of the V-Class lead the way in the MPV segment. The V-Class designers in Stuttgart have used a series of targeted measures to give the MPV a new look which follows the design idiom of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger cars. The new V-Class has a broader appearance and an even stronger visual presence thanks to its new front end. This comes courtesy of a new bumper design with striking cooling air inlets and a new diamond structure in the radiator grille. The Mercedes star is positioned centrally in the radiator grille and framed by two slats in silver. The personalisation concept with the attractive AVANTGARDE and EXCLUSIVE lines continue to exist, while the AMG Line will become visually more powerful: it features a new diamond radiator grille with chrome pins and thus delivers a sporty note.
New paint colours in graphite grey metallic and selenite grey metallic expand the spectrum of the well-received black/white tones. Equally new is the optional paint colour steel blue. With the new colour hyacinth red metallic, the new V-Class also optionally makes an especially emotive statement. At the same time, the four new light-alloy wheel designs ensure a powerful and avantgarde appearance. They include 5-twin-spoke 17-inch light-alloy wheels painted in black with a high-sheen finish as well as 18-inch light-alloy wheels in tremolite grey with a high-sheen finish and 5-twin-spoke design or in black with a high-sheen finish and 5-spoke design. At the upper end of the new wheels portfolio are black-painted 19-inch 10-spoke light-alloy wheels with a high-sheen finish.
In the interior, too, the designers have been busy, transposing the interior design philosophy of the current Mercedes-Benz passenger car models into the new V-Class. The interior of the new V-Class follows the trend of modernity and clarity. In line with the facelift, the V-Class facelift presents itself with new air vents in a more sporty turbine look as well as new dials in the instrument cluster. Thanks to the reduced design, drivers can orientate themselves much more simply. The new upholstery and equipment colour tartufo nappa leather makes a modern and elegant statement. With Lugano leather and nappa leather, each available in black and silk beige, not to mention Santos black fabric, a total of six different upholsteries in light and dark colours is available. Modern and elegant can also be used to describe the new trim element in twin-stripe look which is used on the instrument panel and in the side trim elements. The trim elements in the piano lacquer, ebony wood, carbon fibre and brushed aluminium looks remain.
As part of the facelift, rear passengers can enjoy an especially comfortable space. The optionally available luxury seats for the first row of seats are a real treat and, just like in the S-Class, they offer a fully reclining function, back massage and climatisation. A journey in the new V-Class as a VIP shuttle thus feels more like a spa treatment after a stressful flight or business meeting.
New engine, new transmission – powerful and efficient
In line with the facelift, the Mercedes-Benz V-Class will be equipped with the four-cylinder OM 654 diesel engine in output variants including the following:
The V 250 d with 140 kW (190 hp) and 440 Nm torque (combined fuel consumption 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165 154 g/km)*1
And – with new best values in its segment – the V 300 d with 176 kW (239 hp) and 500 Nm torque (combined fuel consumption 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165-154 g/km)*1
In the acceleration phase, the V 300 d can briefly deliver an additional 30 Nm of torque (“overtorque”) in addition to its 500 Nm of torque. The V 300 d accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 7.9 seconds. It can reach a top speed of 220 km/h.
The new engine generation is even more efficient and clean and offers further improved noise and vibration characteristics. It is pleasantly quiet inside the vehicle and annoying vibrations have been reduced.
Among the innovative characteristics of the new engine generation are the combination of an aluminium housing and steel pistons, the stepped recess combustion process and NANOSLIDE® cylinder wall coating for reducing friction within the engine. How efficient these measures are can be seen on the basis of the fuel savings of around 13 percent which the new V 250 d can boast in comparison with its predecessor model*2.
The majority of components relevant to reducing emission are directly installed on the engine. The integrated technological approach comprising a new stepped recess combustion process, dynamic multiway exhaust gas recirculation and close-coupled exhaust gas aftertreatment facilitates low consumption with low emissions. Thanks to the near-engine, insulated position of the components, the exhaust-gas aftertreatment system enjoys low heat loss and advantageous working conditions. The measures include:
High and low-pressure exhaust gas recirculation including cooling
A diesel oxidation catalytic converter (DOC) reduces the carbon monoxide (CO) emissions and unburnt hydrocarbons (HC)
A particle filter with SCR catalytic converter functionality (sDPF)
An SCR catalytic converter (Selective Catalytic Reduction) for reducing nitrous oxides. Plus, ammonia is mixed into the exhaust gas upstream of the sDPF in the form of AdBlue®
An additional Selective Catalytic Reduction catalytic converter (SCR) with ammonia slip catalyst (ASC) in the exhaust gas duct
The facelift will also see the V-Class optionally equipped with the 9G-TRONIC automatic transmission for the first time. The particularly comfortable and efficient converter automatic transmission replaces the 7G-TRONIC and is available as standard for the V 300 d (combined fuel consumption 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165-154 g/km)*1 and V 250 d (combined fuel consumption 6.3-5.9 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 165-154 g/km)*1. The driver can use the DYNAMIC SELECT switch to select the drive programs “Comfort” and “Sport” and thus influence the shifting behaviour. Alternatively, “M” mode allows the driver to shift manually using the DIRECT SELECT steering wheel gearshift paddles.
All engine variants of the new V-Class are equipped as standard with rear-wheel drive, but 4MATIC permanent all-wheel drive is available as an option. In this way, the new V-Class can still move agilely on various types of terrain. The vehicle height remains under the two-metre mark even when equipped with all-wheel drive. Thus the new V-Class doesn’t lose any of its daily usability and can still fit in regular garages as well as multi-storey and underground car parks problem-free.
New V-Class, even safer
With the standard feature Crosswind Assist, the driver receives support in keeping the V-Class on track even in the case of heavy crosswinds. Meanwhile, ATTENTION ASSIST which was introduced in the V-Class five years ago put the V-Class in a league of its own for safety standards in its segment. And the facelift model continues to build on this position.
In this respect, the new Active Brake Assist can now detect the risk of a collision with a vehicle driving in front and initially initiates a visual and acoustic warning. If the driver reacts, Active Brake Assist increases the brake pressure to suit the requirements of the situation. If the driver fails to react, the system initiates autonomous braking. In urban traffic the Active Brake Assist also reacts to stationary obstacles or pedestrians crossing. In this way, accidents can be avoided or, at the very least, the consequences thereof reduced.
Another new safety feature is the optional Highbeam Assist Plus which is available for the first time in the V-Class. In main-beam mode, Highbeam Assist Plus allows the driver to enjoy a permanent, broad illumination of the roadway without dazzling other road users. In the event of vehicles in front or oncoming traffic, the LEDs of the main-beam module are partially deactivated and thus create a U-shaped cut-out in the cone of light. The remaining areas of the roadway continue to be illuminated with the main-beam headlamps (partial main beam).
Facelift also for Mercedes-Benz campers and leisure vehicles
Be it in terms of style or value appeal, performance and efficiency or safety, the Marco Polo family based on the V-Class will also benefit from the entire scope of the first facelift to the Mercedes-Benz MPV at the same time as the base model. The compact Marco Polo and Marco Polo HORIZON campers and leisure vehicles also feature the new front-end design, the new paint colours and light-alloy wheels, as well as the new air vents and upholsteries. They are joined by the new diesel engine with a new peak of 176 kW (239 hp) (combined fuel consumption 6.8-6.1 l/100 km, combined CO2 emissions 180-160 g/km)*1 as well as Active Brake Assist and Highbeam Assist Plus.
Expansion of the eDrive@VANs strategy
In the MPV segment, Mercedes-Benz Vans will soon be taking the next step and will be the first premium manufacturer to offer a fully-electric model. Thus Mercedes-Benz Vans will consistently expand its comprehensive eDrive@VANs strategy. With the eVito already available and the eSprinter due for market launch in the second half of 2019, the range of fully-electric vehicles will then be extended to include a model series for private use.
Mercedes-Benz Vans will provide an initial outlook on the electric future of its MPV at the Geneva International Motor Show with the near-series study „Concept EQV“, which will celebrate its premiere there.
