the extroverted urge to overshare vs the paranoid schizophrenic feeling of not wanting to reveal too much about myself because what if that somehow causes BAD THINGS™️ life is suffering

I deleted my original Tumblr, back in 2019 or so, under a compulsion, after my SZ onset.
Apparently, deleting social media accounts, suddenly, after having invested a lot of time and effort into them, is common in Borderlines, also.
This may have been what happened with my Myspace, too.
-
For years, I spent too much time on Tumblr, though. I tended to have a posting pattern, which was 2-1-2, but not, always.

to my psychotic/paranoid/OCD/other friends - you might start seeing posts in the next few days about how the rapture supposedly happened or is going to happen very soon. a group of evangelical “rapture watchers” think the rapture happened 9/22/23 for a handful of reasons, such as the dates lining up in a way that’s somehow significant.
i promise the rapture didn’t happen. i don’t personally believe in the rapture and i have nothing against those who do, but it for sure didn’t already happen. if it did everyone would know. there would be tons of footage. anyone who tries to claim it did happen or that they know the date is either lying or misguided.

hey so i dont wanna get into too much detail here to protect the dignity of the people involved in this, but as THE anarchist hacker girl i sort of regularly deal with a number of people with paranoid schizophrenia (or adjacent issues) who will very persistently email me or contact me on other platforms. obviously mostly people who think they are being wronged/followed by the government or other big authorities. most of them eventually give up on it and stop messaging me after like half a year or so of ignoring their weekly emails (and are mostly geographically far away enough for it to not be too much of a safety risk for me, only one person so far has made it to my city to try and meet me). however in the currently ongoing case i am dealing with someone who has now for a week sent me upwards of 20+ emails a day, usually all within the same 3 hours of the day, i generally dont block them (especially in more extreme cases) as i like to at least somewhat keep an eye on the developments for the safety of both me and them, but i dont really know what else to do in this specific case. i usually know exactly who i am dealing with (most of them send me their full personal info, sometimes even including passport scans, etc) but i have no interest in reporting them to any kind of authority figure, be that people in their life i can find or government authorities, as i do not want to needlessly endanger people dealing with mental health problems as a basic rule. does anyone here either have personal experience with particularly bad paranoid schizophrenia or experience with dealing with a situation like this, like is there any way to talk to them that doesnt just further feed into their paranoia? this isnt like just a question for my comfort or anything, i can deal with stuff like this, i am just curious if there is a way for me to actually help them meaningfully :)

To all the people telling me "I'm in your walls" is a harmless meme and "if you are sensitive enough to be triggered by it you shouldn't be on the Internet", please read this and then tell me it's a meme that has nothing to do with schizophrenia, it's a harmless meme, and if me and other people with schizophrenia get 'triggered' by it we are too sensitive.
It was literally made to purposely trigger people in psychosis/ people with schizophrenia specifically. Me and many other people who post about our schizophrenia/psychosis online get spammed with this type of thing, I get anons pretty regularly. I actively try to avoid it but it doesn't matter. I can't think of any other popular "meme" that purposely triggers people online who are already vulnerable. It is blatant sanism/ableism.
There is no way you can divorce the "joke" from its original intended purpose. And why do you guys fight so hard to justify this "joke"? It's not ever funny, it's not clever or creative, it's just bullying a minority, that's literally it.
Those of us with schizophrenia/psychosis deserve to be on the Internet just like everybody else. It's not our fault that there is a popular meme made specifically to target our vulnerabilities. Even if we try our hardest to avoid these types of jokes, people will seek us out and harass us regardless.
Notice on the Know Your Meme page, all the other related searches that are more "memes" meant to trigger, harass, or make fun of people with psychosis/schizophrenia. A lot of these memes have only started/become popular in the last few years. And yet no one seems to be speaking up about how fucked up that is. Not even neurodivergent/mental illness awareness online. And when those of us with schizophrenia try ourselves to call it out, guess what kind of comments we get 🙄

Can people stop fucking using the term “delulu” or using “delusional” improperly can people stop making light of symptoms of mental illness if you are not affected by it.
It is like saying “Oh I’m so OCD” for just wanting everything to be clean or something
Shut the fuck up
You are not delusional just for having a crush on somebody who does not like you back or for wanting something that is generally unlikely to happen
Stop using mental illness as your quirky little fun language I bet the second you see someone who experiences delusions you will get extremely uncomfortable and want them out of your sight

Attention
If you're schizophrenic/schizospec in some way, have/experience psychosis, extreme paranoia, hallucinations, delusions, or in general have a mental illness / neurological condition that is widely demonized (like most cluster b disorders)
Could you please take a moment to leave a word or two about representation? I'm making this post so that people with misunderstood mental conditions could get a boost in talking about representation, and for everyone else to learn something valuable relating to portraying characters like that in original works (or fanworks too!)
Basically, I'm gathering input from people who live with these conditions about what they'd like to see more, in terms of representation in media, harmful stereotypes or pitfalls to avoid, and how to appropriately portray mental illness in fantasy settings for example.
So if you have anything you think would be valuable to know for people outside your group or community, feel free to add on! In reblogs or comments. No pressure though! You can only mention one thing for example, or maybe one criticism and one wish for what you'd like in representation. Don't be ashamed to go on a long rant either, if you have stuff to say! Whatever you feel like commenting on! I'll try to boost all/as many responses as this post gets.
If you're not part of the group I'm asking input from, please reblog for a wider reach if possible!
Obviously I know even people within the same communities can have different opinions and preferences for representation, which is why I wish we could get a wide range of responses to this.
Thank you in advance!

can our next mental illness symptom advocacy be for people whose symptoms make them aloof and detached and not emotionally expressive or scared of intimacy and vulnerability cause some of y’all really like to make fun of that shit and as an autistic schizoid I’m fucking tired of it. not being able to feel and express emotions genuinely or be vulnerable with others is exhausting and difficult and is way more complex than like toxic repressed “too cool for everyone” male bullshit you treat it as in your jokes.

hi this is your reminder that having homicidal thoughts does not make you an inherently bad or broken person. your intrusive thoughts don’t define you as a person. and anyone who says otherwise can go vomit blood and die :3c

happy disability pride month and im here to say to all my disabled people with imposter syndrome:
you are disabled enough for accommodation
you are disabled enough to call yourself disabled
you are disabled enough to use braces and tools
you are disabled even if you have a good day
you are disabled even if you can function
you are disabled even if you can work
you are disabled enough even if you are happy
your disability does not mean you cannot thrive.
you’re not faking
you don’t have “too many.”

i know a lot of people like to point out abed as being really good autism rep and stuff, but i would really really like to point out that abed is canonically schizophrenic. i don’t mean that to take away from the way people feel represented by him. both can coexist!! i relate very heavily to autistic characters all the time! but instead, i want to really point out that like . abed is, by far, the best and only really accurate representation i’ve ever seen of a schizophrenic person in media (and trust me i’ve looked). i am in NO way saying that takes away from relating to him as autistic. what i am saying is: i think he’s a really important character to look at and show what schizophrenia is really like. it usually just looks like autism from an outside perspective. i think abed is such an awesome and cool character, and he is so important to me. i’m also really happy that (even if they did it as a joke) they ended up creating one of the most accurate schizophrenic characters in media. i think he’s so cool. that’s all 👍

Being schizophrenic/psychotic and saying you don’t want to take your medication is met with so much hostility. It’s MY body and it’s MY mind. I’m sorry it makes YOU uncomfortable that I don’t want to be on medications that will ruin my body for the rest of my life. (I’m not sorry)
