@cryscendo and @katyobsesses have been making me think about Hevans today, so I'm gonna share my rewrite of the astronomy room scene from Duets. Will I ever finish this full fic? Who knows.
“I love astronomy,” Sam said, staring up at the planets hanging from the ceiling, “something about all that space makes my problems seem kinda small.”
Kurt rolled his eyes with a smile.
Sam pointed up at the red styrofoam ball directly above his head. “That one’s venus, planet of love.”
Kurt laughed. “That’s actually Mars, planet of war.”
Sam glanced back up and bit his lip. “Which one are we on?” he said with a teasing glint in his eye.
“Earth,” Kurt said, brows furrowing. “Which I need you to come back to for a minute. What changed your mind about the duet?”
“Honestly,” Sam took a deep breath, “watching you sing. You were so confident and incredible up there. It felt like you truly knew who you were. I guess, if I’m going to be in this club, I need that kind of confidence. And I need to not let others talk me down.”
“Commiting social suicide doesn’t make you confident,” Kurt said.
“Maybe not, but hopefully, spending some time with you will. No matter the consequences.” Sam’s pulse was racing, waiting for Kurt to reject him, not fully understanding why he did not want that to happen.
Kurt pursed his lips. “Maybe,” he said, “convince me a duet with you will be better than what I just did on that stage.”
Sam grinned. “Okay. Let’s start with choreography,” he said, pulling his guitar strap over his head. “The singing will be easy,” he said with a spin, “so I’ll just start playing.” He started strumming gently before looking back to Kurt. “Get behind me.”
Kurt stared at him in confusion. “What?”
“Get behind me.” He jerked his head to the side with a lifted eyebrow. Kurt took a breath and set his bag on one of the tables, moving to position himself behind Sam. “Now grab my hips.”
“Sam,” Kurt sqwauked.
“C’mon, I promise it’ll be good.” Kurt cautiously placed a hand on Sam’s waist. “Closer,” Sam instructed. Kurt huffed but did as he was told until his chest was almost to Sam’s back. “And start swaying.” Kurt pressed his free hand to his forehead with a nervous laugh but followed the movement of Sam’s hips. “Now here’s the cool part, give me your hand.” Kurt lifted it slowly and Sam took his hand gently. “Do you know how to play?”
Kurt shook his head with a soft, “No.”
“Oh it’s easy.” He guided Kurt’s hand into position on the fretboard. “Just put your finger there, yeah just like that.”
Kurt was making a concerted effort to keep his breathing steady. He wasn’t sure when the last time he’d been this close to another boy that hadn’t been visibly uncomfortable about it. Sam was so relaxed and calm, even as he touched Kurt.
Sam started strumming again, and he looked up to meet Kurt’s eye. He smiled at him, and their faces were so close. Electricity thrummed through Kurt as he stared in shock. Slowly, the tune they were playing started to click in his brain and he pulled away.
“This is a love song,” Kurt said, spinning away from him, pressing a hand to his chest.
“Yeah,” Sam said with shrug, “it’s one of my favorites.”
“We can’t sing a love song, Sam,” Kurt said with disbelief. “The other footballers will crucify you.”
“Because so many of the guys on the team will be watching us sing,” Sam rolled his eyes.
“Maybe! Anyone could look in the choir room and see us. Anyone could walk by right now and see us, and you know what they’ll think.”
“That we’re two artists singing a song?” Sam said.
“That you’re gay, Sam! And people at this school are not that accepting, trust me, I’ve lived through hundreds of locker shoves and slushie facials and being thrown into trashcans. That’s the kind of talk Finn was trying to protect you from. That’s the whole reason I set you free to sing with someone else.”
“And why should I care? Isn’t being in Glee going to get me that kind of treatment anyway? Why does it matter what everyone else thinks about me?”
“You don’t understand,” Kurt pleaded, “yes, everyone else is bullied, but none of them experience the shit I do. They get annoyed and frustrated, but they can all walk away from the club if they want it to stop. But me? I can’t do that. Everyone at this school hates me because of who I am, not what I do. And if they think you’re like me? You will never be able to escape it.”
Sam’s face was drawn tight.
“I’m sorry, Sam. Thank you for trying, but I can’t let you do this. Just… sing with Quinn or something, it’ll be safer that way.”

Dasey on Broadway (Mixer’s Commentary)
Look out y’all, this is long. I’m serious: I’m putting it under a cut because it is 2700 words long.
Proud of Your Boy — Derek (duh)
It’s sung to his missing mom; because I am kinda low-key fascinated by their relationship (and because I think @dustinswill nailed it when they wrote: “George loves him but he doesn’t like him”)
“So say I’m slow for my age, a late bloomer, okay I agree…” Derek is fully aware that people think he’s stupid; he’s charming but he’s stupid and slow (which is amazing when you consider he’s probably born in late November…)
“Say I’m a goldbrick, a goof-off, no good; But that couldn’t be all that I am.” — because Derek IS amazing and he KNOWS he’s amazing, just… not in the ways that his parents want him to be.
“I’ll do my best, what else can I do? Since I wasn’t born perfect like Dad or you” — and here’s the kicker, because his parents are SO FLAWED and SO WRONG, but they’re still somehow still better than he is. Isn’t that the worst? He can’t even measure up to the most flawed people he’s ever met.
Everything Else — Casey (duh)
It’s honestly more the vibe than any particular lines, but it’s about Casey’s ache to get out, to succeed, to put on a performance so people don’t see her anxiety and pressures.
“You play ‘till it’s perfect, you play ‘till you ache; you play ‘till the strings or your fingernails break.” — You try and you try and you try and you try until you actually have nothing else to give.
I Never Planned On You / Don’t Come A’Knocking On My Door — Derek
LOOK. Derek didn’t want to be absolutely fascinated by Casey, okay? He still doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but he knows about attraction and curiosity; and he took one look at this girl with the retainer and the private schoolgirl outfit, and was hooked; which doesn’t make any sense!!! Because girls are fun, but nothing like this?!?!
“You are the most impossible boy — Shhh! — ever!” is the most Dasey-like interaction.
What is This Feeling? — DUET TIME
I don’t think I need to explain this. Because it’s SO THEM in early season 1. Especially when the way they’re feeling could easily be taken as extreme sexual tension. XD
“There’s a strange exhilaration in such total detestation: it’s so pure and so strong! Though I do admit it came on fast, still I do believe that it can last; And I will be loathing, loathing you my whole life long!”
Ladies’ Choice —Derek!!!
HE’S GOD’S GIFT TO THE WORLD, OKAY???? Which is fun, because that first song is about how he doesn’t think he measures up, but Derek is a mess of paradoxes and I love him so.
(He’s also a romantic, as we can see by the fact that the song ends with him wanting a relationship and love and family.)
Breathe — Casey
“It’s me: the biggest disappointment you know.” Basically the idea that Casey has all these expectations placed upon her and she doesn’t know if she can measure up to them; she’s gotta be enough for both parents and her grandmother, and now this whole other family and this new school; and I kinda pinpoint around the whole grade grubbing episode if we’re being honest, but it does linger for years and years.
Anything You Can Do — DUET TIME
I really don’t think I need to explain this either, except for how I LOVE that at the end, the guy yields to her talents, the same way Derek is always admitting defeat when Casey does beat him. It’s a game, alright?
A Guy That I’d Kinda Be Into — Casey
SO! This song is all about how the guy is SURE the girl is talking about having a crush on him, and then she says it’s this other guy. A couple of things about this song is:
(1) there is quite an argument that could be made about how Casey gets clumsy when she’s around DEREK and not Sam; and
(2) although Casey has no reason to trust Derek at this point or even confess anything about anything to him, “I guess a part of me wants to; I guess a part of me likes to talk to you; sit with you; hang with you…” Which… yeah! For all that Casey usually wants to strangle Derek, a part of her still wants to be his friend.
Dancing Through Life — Derek
NOT ONLY is this 15/16-year-old Derek’s philosophy on life — “No need to tough it when you can sluff it off as I do; Those who don’t try, never look foolish.” — but also the start of his and Kendra’s relationship, i.e.: “You’re perfect / You’re perfect / So we’re perfect together.” Because I do sincerely think that a good chunk of their relationship was based on popularity as opposed to genuine feelings.
When He Sees Me — Casey
SO! There’s a part of Casey that feels this way about dating: what if when he sees me, he doesn’t like me? “What if I give myself away only to get it given back?” Should I change a part of me to be more like what he would like? “I’m not defensive! I’m only being cautious.”
And what if when he does see me, the real me, he DOES like me? Damn, that’s even scarier… “Or even worse, he could be very nice, have lovely eyes, and make me laugh… Come out of hiding… What do I do with that?”
This, I think is about Scott AND Max, but mostly Max (and maybe even a bit of Derek): “If when he holds me, my heart is set in motion; I’m not prepared for that, I’m scared of breaking open.”
I’ve Grown Accustomed to Her Face — Derek
Something There — DUET TIME (but mostly Casey)
POOR DEREK. A combination of him actually realizing he has FEELINGS; starts off with Scott — “Damn, damn, damn, damn! I’ve grown accustomed to her face.” — and goes around to Max: “What a heartless, wicked, brainless thing to do. But she’ll regret it.” — It’s full of jealousy and hating what he’s feeling and trying to shake it off, because it can’t mean much, it must just be a small thing, BUT “I’m so used to hear her say, ‘Good morning’ every day.” But it’s okay, because “she’s a woman, and so easy to forget, rather like a habit one can always break— and yet.”
Casey realizing there’s something more to Derek, around the time he calls Dennis back for her and stands up at Smelly Nelly’s for her…
“There’s something sweet and almost kind; but he was mean and he was coarse and unrefined…”
“New… and a bit alarming; who’d have ever thought that this could be? True, that he’s no Prince Charming; but there’s something in him that I simply didn’t see…”
ALSO Derek: “No, it can’t be. I’ll just ignore… But then she’s never looked at me that way before.”
Fight for Me — Derek (XD)
BULLY BROTHERS!!!
“Could you face the crowd? Could you be seen with me and still act proud?”
“But I would fight for you if you would fight for me.” BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT THEY DO!!! THEY STAND UP FOR EACH OTHER!! THEY FIGHT FOR ONE ANOTHER!!
Also, also: “You can set my broken bones; and I know CPR.” Hey Case? Wanna make out?
ALSO ALSO: “Wow. You can punch real good. You lasted longer than I thought you would.” — CASEY PACKS A PUNCH!!! AND THESE FEELINGS HAVE LASTED A LOT LONGER THAN HE THOUGHT THEY WOULD!!!
Suddenly Seymour — DUET TIME
Post Truman’s Last Chance. Derek taking care of Casey.
“I’d meet a man and I’d follow him blindly.” AND “Seymour’s my friend.”
…which is the end of canon LWD and into…
I Won’t Say (I’m in Love) — Casey
A combination of “same difference” and what I imagine Casey would be going through.
“If there’s a prize for rotten judgment, I guess I’ve already won that.”
“No chance, no way, I won’t say it, no no.”
I Don’t Know How to Love Him — Casey
So THEN we get into Queen’s, and Casey is developing feelings and having a harder time denying them.
“He’s just a man.” Like: what is so special about Derek???? He’s just some guy???? He’s not actually that impressive; and Casey has had boyfriends, alright; they’re not that amazing.
But: “He scares me so.”
“If he said he loved me, I’d be lost, I’d be frightened.” — because Casey REMEMBERS ‘same difference’, and Derek and her are finally circling around this thing, but she’s not ready, she’s terrified.
If I Loved You — DUET TIME
And now both of them are circling around these feelings (I’m thinking second year of Queen’s?), and both are aware that the other has feelings but it’s scary and they’re kind of in denial and they’re not ready to admit it, but if they say it then it’s real, and...
Rewrite the Stars — DUET TIME
SO DEREK MAKES A MOVE. “It’s up to you and it’s up to me; no one can say what we get to be.”
…And Casey says no: “You know I want you; it’s not a secret I try to hide. But I can’t have you; we’re bound to break and my hands are tied.”
Satisfied — Casey
WHICH LEADS US TO THIS, where both Derek and Casey try to date other people for the rest of the time they’re at Queen’s. I imagine Casey sets him up with someone from the Dance Team or some charity she’s involved with; and she goes on dates with various guys. But neither are really happy because they can’t really give each other up — “At least I keep his eyes in my life.” — and it’s really not fair to the other parties, no matter how hard they try. Because: “He will never be satisfied; I will never be satisfied.”
You Must Love Me — Casey
SO: after a couple of years of this, I’m imaging Derek graduates and is living in Toronto: he bartends, he helps out his contacts with odd jobs, and he’s trying to get into the film industry with limited success (but he hasn’t given up yet); and Casey gets into a couple of different law schools. She does a semester in Montreal, but ends up transferring to Toronto and tracking down Derek because she misses him and, well…
“Where do we go from here? This isn’t where we intended to be.”
“Why are you at my side? How can I be of any use to you now? Give me a chance and I’ll let you see how nothing has changed.”
And finally… “You must love me.” Now that I’m finally admitting you, you must still love me.
First Date / Last Night — DUET TIME
SO THEY GO ON A DATE and it starts off awkward and bad because Casey is hopeful and scared and Derek is kinda still hurt and uncertain, because she said no before and what makes it different now? “Why the hell are you still here?”
And they can’t match up and it’s not great; “Don’t expect too much, just walk.”
But then, at the end, Casey makes a joke and he laughs and responds, and she’s laughing too; and they knock shoulders or kick at an ankle, and suddenly everything starts flowing…
Bad Idea — DUET TIME
AND THEN THE MORNING AFTER. Because it’s one thing to think it MIGHT be good, and another thing altogether to realize it IS good. And shit, this is a really bad idea, because of so many reasons; but damn Derek is good with his hands, and Casey is hot and a really good kisser, but “Let’s face it, making mistakes like this will make worse what was already pretty bad.” Because life is hard and Derek is struggling to get into film and Casey is drowning in law school, and it was already complicated and now there’s this; BUT IT'S SO GOOD??? and “no reason to throw it away when there’s love to be had.”
And finally, surrendering, “Hold me tight as I tell myself that you might make sense and make good what has been just so bad…”
Waterloo — DUET TIME
So they’re not really labeling it for a while until, well, one day they do. It’s real, it’s big, and it’s inevitable, “knowing my fate is to be with you.”
As Long As You’re Mine — DUET TIME
I dunno if this needs an explanation; like, “My wildest dreamings could not foresee lying beside you with you wanting me;” and “Say there’s no future for us as a pair; and though, I may know I don’t care.”
We Kiss in a Shadow — DUET TIME
They sneak around for quite a while. I always imagined that if they got together as older adults, like 24+, they would actually hide the relationship LONGER than if they were in university because it would be much easier TO hide it. In university, they have to go back to London for long periods of time: breaks and summer semesters. But as post-grads and living in their own city, their trips back would be a weekend here or there, and probably far more focused on spending time with Simon and Marti than anything else. So they have a secret relationship for a while, all the while wanting to come out…
“Alone in our secret, together we sigh, for one smiling day to be free.”
Take Me or Leave Me — DUET TIME
(last year, someone told me this was a Dasey song, and I haven’t gotten it out of my brain since)
So Derek asks if they can come out. “A tiger in a cage can never see the sun; this diva needs her stage.”
Casey says no, not yet: “I look before I leap; I love margins and discipline.”
So they fight, arguing (honestly, the list of Joanne’s flaws is the most Dasey thing ever), until finally:
“Guess I’m leaving; I’m gone.”
Seventeen — DUET TIME
…I don’t think it takes very long for Casey to come back and apologize. A few days? A week maximum? And even though they’re not 17 anymore (more like 25…), the concept is still the same: Why does this have to be so dramatic? Can’t it be simple? “Don’t you want a life with me?”
“Yeah, we’re damaged / badly damaged / But your love’s too good to lose.”
“I’ll stay if I’m what you choose.” I’ll come out and fight by your side. Let’s do this.
Kristoff Lullaby — Derek
…This is Derek admitting he’s in love. It’s just… So lovely. “You’re what I know about love.”
I’m in Love with a Wonderful Guy — Casey
CASEY IS SO HAPPY??? “Love is a grand and a beautiful thing.” / “I’m as trite and as a gay as a daisy in May; a cliché coming true.”
Moving Too Fast — Derek
And then Derek gets some kind of grant for a film project he actually gets to direct and “I’m feeling panicked and rushed and hurried; I’m feeling outmaneuvered and outclassed. But I’m so happy I can’t get worried—” and yeah, a lot of things are happening: him and Casey are moving in together, they’re in love, Casey is happy; and now this grant and he’s so happy and it’s all very fast—
Something Wonderful — Casey
…And he does something stupid. I don’t know what; maybe he misses a date because of the film thing? But then he makes it up to her, and:
“This is a man you’ll forgive and forgive and help and protect as long as you live…”
It’s just. The most Dasey song and it HURTS to listen to.
If Ever I Would Leave You — Casey
Look, Casey sings this to Derek, I don’t make the rules. Maybe something happens; he doesn’t get the grant the next year, or Casey gets a job offering for another city; and she has to reassure him:
“No never could I leave you at all.”
The Best Thing That Ever Has Happened to Me — DUET TIME
AND THEN THEY’RE JUST HAPPY!!! I just love this song; they’re so happy and healthy and flirty and grown up…
“We might just be the best thing that has happened to us…”
I Love You Like a Table — DUET TIME
Look: Casey is the one reciting bad poetry (imagine, if you will, her draping her leg over a table, and singing, “My legs were carved for you” while running her hands over her very shapely legs, while Derek glares at her because that’s not FAIR, Casey!!) and Derek is the only who wanted to surprise her and has only managed to come up with a drum line (it’s a lot, but then again: the way he feels for her is a lot).

tell me abt the top 5 stevebucky headcanons that live rent free in ur mind🥰
aaaaaaa i love this tysm!! all i can think about rn are stevebucky from my latest wip but if u send me this again later i might have more brainrot for their canon versions for you !!
1. steve prefers savory stuff while bucky looooves sweets so buckys always looking up these fancy recipes to try and make for steve who is always super touched but he CANNOT bake for shit without genuine hazard to their lives so he just buys bucky a bag of candy on his way home from work and buckys like 🥺🥺🥺🥺🥺 truly the man of the year i am so down bad how did i get so lucky (for reference at one point bucky literally works at a gourmet candy store but he’s impressed by like maynards lmao he’s such a simp)
2. i know everyone typecasts skinny steve as completely tone deaf but i’m special <33 so i have this hc that they go to a karaoke bar one night and theater kid bucky is so excited because he hasn’t performed in forever but hopefully he can still sing bc steve has kept teasing him about his “dulcet operatic tones” and he doesn’t even know why he feels the need to prove himself so competitively like sure they’re good friends but why would he care if steve thinks he has a good voice lol?? and sam is looking through the list and hes like “aye steve your gal is on here i’ll sign you up” and bucky’s like “huh? who?” and clints grinning like “oh YEAH hes very fond of dolores, is our steven.” and steve BLUSHES looking at bucky and they’re both kinda laughing and hes like “i showed you that in CONFIDENCE you shits” and bucky’s like thinking hes shy bc he can’t carry a tune so he’s like “awww c’mon dont heckle him i’ll duet with you steve so it’s not so bad” and they get up there and sam has put in a request for zombie and bucky starts casually singing and the first chorus comes and steve absolutely BELTS IT OUT LIKE DECIMATES THE CRANBERRIES AND BUCKY IS JUST THERE LIKE. STARING !!!! HE FORGETS TO EVEN SING LIKE HOLY FUCK WHAT THE HELL IS HAPPENING TO ME????? and then when they get together bucky thinks about it and he’s like wait oh. ohhhhhhhhhhhhhh. OHHHH???? needless to say they leave the karaoke bar early that night lmfao
3. one of my favorite parts of this fic and what started it all is steve is from an area that has these extremely colorfully painted houses and his childhood home is in bRIGHT red and baby blue with white trim (because duh) and bucky thinks it’s the most garish, hilarious, extremely steve thing ever and he loves it 😩
4. once they start living together steve and bucky are both constantly covered in glitter like. glitter all the freaking time. because steve works a job as a character performer at a mythology museum 🤡
5. bucky offers to model for steve’s figure drawing class at one point and everyone is freaking out over him like HOLY SHIT WHO TF IS THIS GUY and they start calling him “the hot american” and all anyone can talk about is the Hot American™️ but they keep it super professional pretending like they don’t know each other and then the last day of the class bucky changes into his clothes while everyone’s packing up and steve’s ready to go so he’s just like “hey babe ready to bounce” and steve’s like “fuck yeah” and completely snogs him in front of everyone who are just there like o_0 and they run out to the street laughing so hard at their faces bucky has to carry steve onto the bus until he can find his inhaler
lol ik this isn’t probably what u had in mind but ty so much for giving me a chance to talk about The Boys <333333
bonus: PEGGY AND BUCKY GETTING REALLY FUCKING DRUNK AND SINGING LINGER on natasha’s couch one night using the bottle as a mic lolololol

invisible string [quinn fabray]
quinn fabray x reader
requested by anon: Hey, I love your writing and I loved Quinn Fabray's miniseries. Could you do a sequel to "Betty", maybe Quinn and the reader meeting in episode 100 and giving them a second chance? I would love :)
pt.1  pt.2 pt.3
Tumblr media
*not my gif*
There was once a old folklore. It once said that everyone had an invisible string tying one to their soulmate.
A simpler term for it would be fate.
That everyone decision, good or bad, would lead you to that one person.
The invisible gold string would drag you out of the wrong arms, wrapped all of your past mistakes, and chained your demons back. The one single thread would lead them to you, no matter how far you’ve strayed.
Not many people believe in it anymore because of the time. The time that it takes for the invisible string to tie one another together took far too long, maybe that’s why you didn’t believe anymore.
There you were back at McKinley High School. When Mr. Shue told you that the glee club was shutting down and you were having one last hoorah, you did not hesitate to book a first flight home.
Walking down the hallway with your classic olive green cardigan that made you feel like you seventeen again and straight back into the classroom that made you feel like home.
And there she was the beautiful blonde who held your heart and dropped it all at once, “Y/N,” she let out a breath as her eyes caught on yours.
“Hey Quinn,” you told her with a shy smile, “Long time no see,”
“Yeah, how has college at Penn State?” she asked as the two of you made small conversation in the middle of the choir room.
You shrugged, “It’s been nice, I don’t know if it’s everything I’ve dreamed it would be, but it’s good. How’s Yale?”
The two of you didn’t live far, it wasn’t all the way across the country. It was driving across a few state lines, but you never hung out. In fact, you barely talked after the two of you had broken up.
“Good, good. It uh feels like I’m missing something, but I don’t think I would change my decision,” she told you and you nodded.
She was about to say something else when you heard someone scream your name, “Y/N!” Sam yelled as he rushed over towards you.
You broke out into a big smile as he picked you up from off the ground, spinning you around and around. You let out a hearty laugh as he set you down.
“I’ve missed you!” he told you as he let go.
You smiled, “I’ve missed you too, bud. I wish our third musketeer was still here with us,” you said with a sad smile.
He let out a sigh, “I know, me too,” he turned to Quinn who looked hurt and jealous at the same time. Do you know why? No, but she always has been hard to read.
“Hey Quinn,” he said, giving her a tight hug.
She hugged him back with a smile that didn’t quite reach her eyes, “Hey Sam, I’m gonna go catch up with Mercedes. I’ll catch the two of you later,”
You and Sam looked at each other with furrowed brows before eventually shrugging it off.
You thought that coming back here would bring back loads of bad memories from the cheating to the heartbreak to losing Finn, but it didn’t. As the day went on you remembered why you fell in love with her in the first place.
The way she sang, so full of heart. When she crinkled her nose as she smiled. Or how big her heart is for people she actually lets in.
And at first you weren’t too sure, but when the nostalgia of the club forced you guys to sing your iconic duet, it just hit you harder than before.
“I think we need the iconic rendition of Everything Has Changed from Quinn and Y/N,” Mercedes admitted and your heart immediately stopped.
You looked at Quinn who was already staring at you, like she was seeking approval, “Let’s give the people what they want,”
You grabbed your guitar playing the soft acoustic intro, as she stood on the opposite side of the room, both of you unable to look away from the other.
“All I knew, this morning when I woke is I know something now, know something now, I didn’t before. And all I’ve seen since eighteen hours ago is green eyes and freckles in your smile in the back of my mind, making me feel like,” she began to sing and you forgot how soothing her voice was. Like everything in the world kind of faded away at the sound of her voice.
As the song went on the two of you closed the gap between you until you were face to face. The only thing separating the two of you was the guitar that was wrapped across your body.
“All I know is we said ‘hello’ and your eyes look like coming home. All I know is a simple name and everything has changed. All I know is you held the door, you’ll be mine and I’ll be yours. All I know since yesterday is everything has changed,” the two of you sang.
You couldn’t tear your eyes away from her only doing so when they averted to her lips. Like two puzzle pieces that were supposed to fit together, you were about to connect when the sound of clapping tore you from each other. And with one last lingering look, you broke the gaze as everyone was clapping and smiling like we were all seventeen again.
You didn’t know what to do though. Finn was usually the one to give you advice, but he wasn’t here, so you did the second best thing. The boys locker room was empty as his football jersey hung proudly on the wall. The big number five just staring back at you.
“Hey buddy, I’m in kind of a dilemma right now,” you told him honestly, “And I really wish you were actually here to tell me what to do. You were always good at that,”
He probably would’ve chuckled at what you said, recalling the time where he told you to not eat that funnel cake on senior ditch day before the rollercoaster, but you did anyway and puked all over his shoes.
“I think I’m still in love with Quinn and that absolutely terrifies me. I don’t want to get hurt again,” you whispered, tears staring to sting your eyes when you realize he’s not gonna be there to hug you.
“I’ve been so scared to put myself back out there and when I do it just feels like no one compares to him. And God I wish you could be here right now to tell me what to do because you would know, you always did,”
That’s when you heard someone clear their throat. You looked to find the source of the noise, seeing Coach Beiste standing there next to the office door.
“Hey pumpkin, do you mind if I sit here?” she asked as she pointed to the empty seat on the bleacher.
All you did was nod, before wiping your eyes, “I’m sorry, I know I’m not supposed to be here,”
“Eh it’s okay. You aren’t the first girl who’s come in here to talk to him,” she told you with a shrug.
“Rachel come in here too?” you asked.
She shook her head, “Nope,” she popped the ‘p’ in the word, “Quinn, turns out she needed advice of her own and she asked him a question,”
“About?” you asked, curiously.
“I can’t tell you that,” she confessed.
“Hey Finn,” Quinn told him, staring at the jersey that was hanging on the wall, “God I don’t think I ever stopped loving her. Actually I know I never stopped loving her, but I’m so scared Finn. I don’t know if she’ll give me a shot or anything, but I don’t want to hurt her,” she confessed.
There was a moment of silence, before she continued on again.
“I’m so scared that I’m gonna hurt her again and she doesn’t deserve that. But if I don’t tell her how I feel then she’s gonna be the one who got away,” she contemplated it for herself for a second, “Do I have your blessing to love her again? I know how much she meant to you. If you do give me a sign, anything,”
She sat there on the bench for a moment before something fell off the shelf. She let our a teary laugh, “Thank you,”
After a little more time she left the room as Coach Beiste left her office to pick up the towel that she dropped.
“I know I’m not Finn, but do you mind if I give you some advice?”
“Please, I really need it right now,”
She smiled, rubbing your back, “Go for it. If Finn was here he’d tell you something like ‘don’t give up on something that would be good for you’. And I bet if he could come down here right now and tell you one piece of advice it would be dont take life for granted. Don’t let the love of your life slip away like he did. I think that was his one big regret, not being with Rachel before he passed. I think he wants you to be happy,”
“And my advice the two of you are mature now. All of the negative emotions and feelings are easier to talk out now. So talk and just go for it, life’s too short to waste another second,” she told you and you smiled at her with teary eyed.
“I miss him,” I whispered, staring back at the jersey on the wall.
“Me too, pumpkin, me too,”
After a few more minutes, you hopped back onto your feet and went to find Quinn. You searched every hallway and every classroom for Quinn, but came up empty. Until you found her outside by the football field. There was a little tree made out in his honor, she was looking at it, just staring, contemplating everything.
“Quinn!” you shouted and her head shot up to the name of her voice.
You were making a bee-line straight for her, “Y/N are you-” but you cut her off and kissed her. Your hands grasping her cheeks and pulling her towards you.
The two of you pulled away and looked at each other, “Everyone deserves a second chance,”
“Are you sure?” she asked you, a small smile on her face.
“Very, very sure,”
The invisible string tied her to you.

At breakfast this morning, Travis announced that he broke his charger last night and needed to run out to buy a new one. The majority of the group left with him, needing to go to the store for various reasons. I didn’t pay much attention but I know one of the reasons was because Kendall ran out of sunscreen. Which led Cara to go too. I guess from there everyone went along.
This brings me to the current moment, with the newfound aloneness, I decided to take a shower. Of course, I can’t take a shower without my music playing. I’ve seen too many horror movies and without music, I get freaked out. With everyone out, I can blast my music without worrying about bothering anyone. I live alone and my closest neighbors are pretty far so don’t usually have to consider others hearing it. Bonus, Sam and Penelope aren’t here to complain about my “dad music.”
After my nice prolonged shower, I start getting ready for the day. Using this opportunity to the fullest, I continue playing my music as I apply my makeup in front of the vanity in the bedroom. Being alone for the first time in days, I can sing and not worry about anyone hearing.
"
“You never told me you could sing…”
I nearly jump out of my skin upon hearing the sudden voice.
I whip around in my chair to find Colson snickering against the doorframe.
“Holy Jesus, Mary, and the camel!” I hold my hand to my chest. “What?”
“You can really sing,” he compliments, pushing off the frame to enter. "I mean, I knew you could rap a little, but you have a good voice."
“Wow gee, thanks!" I sass. "Oh! And that’s for the mild heart attack you gave me!” Turning back toward the mirror, I continue to apply my makeup. “I thought you left with everyone."
He moves to stand beside me, propping himself against the wall by the mirror. “No, I decided to stay back. Figured I could do some writing with the peace and quiet. You have a beautiful voice Y/N, why don’t you use it?”
I do use it. I use it when I dish him a big ole platter of sass.
“Because it’s not in my job description,” I joke, struggling to suppress my smirk.
Upon completing my makeup routine, I stand up and head out to the kitchen.
Colson follows close behind. “Sing with me!"
"Yeah, okay!” I laugh, not taking him seriously for a second.
He follows me into the kitchen like a lost puppy. As I pour myself a cup of coffee, he leans against the counter, propping himself on his elbows.
“No, seriously! Sing a duet with me on my next album!" He offers.
I look at him as though he has three heads. "You're nuts!" Moving past him, I head back to the room to get ready.
"At least stop by the studio when we go back!" He jogs past me and blocks my path before I can disappear into Sam and I's room to get dressed. "Just one song... think about."
I exhale deeply, concluding he won't leave me alone until I satisfy him at least a little bit. "Fine!" I comply. "I'll think about it."
Pleased, he grins and plants a quick kiss on my forehead. "You won't regret it!"
"Not making any promises. Now can I get some proper clothes on?" I ask rhetorically, gesturing down at my robed body."
"Oh! Yeah, yeah! Of course!" He stammers, moving out of my way.
I giggle, stepping into my room.
I can try but I don't think Steph or Nicole will be sold on the idea of me and Machine Gun Kelly sharing a duet.

Later that day...
After Coldplay's performance, Pete announces needs to charge his phone so I decide to tag along a do the same. He and I search the area for a charging tent and find one reasonably quickly. My phone isn’t terribly low but in case of a call from Steph or Nicole, I rarely let my phone go below sixty percent. We go for a walk around the immediate area while our phones charge.
I grip the straps of my backpack, kicking random pebbles as we go.
“So you and Colson..." Peter insinuates.
“Oh nooo," I drag out nervously.
He chuckles, “What? It’s obvious you two have a thing going.”
I keep my eyes focused on the ground as I kick the random pebbles. “Colson and I are complicated.”
“Meaning?”
“Meaning, he and I are still up in the air.”
“Colson has the tendency to be self-destructive in a way. He didn’t have the best experience as a kid. Travis and I have a theory that he puts up the tough-guy exterior because that’s his method of coping with his issues. Dom, Travis, and I, we’ve been with him so long that we’ve grown accustomed to his habits. He acts unattached and disconnected but he wears his heart on his sleeve. A total romantic he is. Exceptionally loyal, would go to war for the ones he loves. Though, you wouldn’t guess that when you first meet him huh?”
“Our first meeting wasn’t the most polite interaction. I’m not sure if he’s told you.”
Pete grins. “I was there actually.”
I was surprised, my walking slow. "You were at the party?”
He hums. “The four of us all went. Didn’t have the pleasure of meeting you that night but Colson spoke very fondly of you.”
“We fought...” I say curious as to why he would speak fondly of me after our conversation full of tension.
“Exactly, he said you were courageous, bold, a force to be reckoned with. I’ve seen him infatuated with a number of girls in the years we’ve been friends but nothing in comparison to how he talks about you.”
“But we have nothing in common,” I realize aloud.
Two weeks doesn’t quite allow a proper foundation for a relationship in my opinion.
“How are you so sure about that?”
“Well… I mean… we’re polar opposites!
Pete stops and places a hand on my shoulder. “Give him a chance,” he encourages. “I have a feeling you’ll be pleasantly surprised.” He turns around to head back to the charging station.
“It could get messy! Everyone will be against us!” I warn him of the factor that emerged in my mind.
He halts and turns to face me with a grin. “Yeah, he knows. He’s ready for the challenge if you are!”
Stunned, my lips part to debate another point, but I fall short of an argument.
Pete smirks and spins on his heels.
Which option will have the best outcome? Choose Colson and deal with the repercussions or listen to the many voices that will say it’ll never work? Normally I would take listen to the advice of others without hesitation. Perhaps the weekend was a test? The past two days have given me an opportunity to spend time with Colson. I’ve observed how he is around our friends and myself. Pete and Travis are right, he’s not what I expected at all. On the other hand, his fans will come after me. The media will have a frenzy. My family along with my team will be furious. Is he worth every ounce of the inevitable trouble?
Okay. I’ve made my choice. If it comes back to bite me in the ass so be it.
I accept the challenge.

“Feeling good in my skin/ I just keep on dancing,” Harry Styles sings in his latest single, “Treat People With Kindness.” And in the song’s exuberant music video -- which has garnered 17 million YouTube views and counting since its debut on New Year’s Day -- he does just that: Wearing a sequined jacket and bow tie, he chassés, spins and flutters jazz hands like an MGM musical star (with a little help from his equally debonair partner, Fleabag’s Phoebe Waller-Bridge).
Styles shot the video in early 2019 after several weeks of training with choreographer Paul Roberts, a collaborator since his One Direction days. “I think somewhere in the back of my mind, I knew this could be something special,” says Roberts, a veteran stage director and choreographer who’s worked on videos and tours for the likes of Sam Smith, Katy Perry, Diana Ross, and the Spice Girls (their Spiceworld stadium tour).
Watching the explosive fan reaction to Styles’s little known dance talents -- including from the Spice Girls, who've “sent lovely messages" about the video -- Roberts says it seems like "Treat People With Kindness" arrived at the precise right moment. “Most people’s comments are, ‘I’ve not felt that happy for three and a half minutes in a long time,’ or ‘I smiled from ear to ear the whole way through.’ It’s a positive light.”
He spoke to Billboard about Styles’ intensive training process -- and why he wouldn’t be surprised to see him dancing onstage again.
There’s been one pretty overwhelming reaction to this video: “This is the guy who was in the group that insisted they couldn’t dance?!” Did you expect this kind of reaction to Harry dancing? I’ve been with Harry for 10 years: I was with the One Direction boys from the beginning the whole way through their career before they took the hiatus, and they always made a very conscious decision that they didn’t want choreography as part of their brand -- but they did want a kind of disheveled organization in order to allow the cameras and the lighting to stand a chance in terms of presenting them in the best manner possible.
What was very evident to me was that all five of them, and then it obviously became four, they’ve all got their own magic. The only time I’ve experienced that was when I worked with the Spice Girls. I always knew that they had special skills aside from what they were in One Direction, whether it was movement, songwriting, being able to handle the business side of things. For such young lads they were very astute and very decisive.  So, getting together with Harry -- he’s a bit of an alchemist, is Harry. Everything he turns his hand to turns to gold. Where did the initial dance-centric concept come from? Harry and the directors, Ben and Gabe [Turner], sent me a video link to the Nicholas Brothers scene from Stormy Weather and Harry asked me, "How long do you think it would take to dance like this?" I was like, "OK, are you being serious?" "Yeah, I’m being serious."
That is probably one of the most standout dance sequences ever captured on film -- so I knew we were aiming high. I said, "Why don’t we go into a studio and let’s workshop some choreography, some moves, some short sequences, and see what your ability is, see how we can tailor this to make you look the best you can possibly look." Obviously it would take some investment in terms of rehearsal and commitment, I told him it would be mentally and physically exhausting, but I thought, "My God yeah, let’s do it; this will be an adventure."
How long did the whole process take? We started in mid-January 2019, and we rehearsed and workshopped for about four to five weeks before the shoot, every day. Both Harry and Phoebe had other things going on, so, for instance, Phoebe was working on the new Bond movie in Canada, so I sent my assistant to Canada to work with her. I stayed in the U.K. with Harry, and then we went to L.A. where Harry shot two more videos, for “Watermelon Sugar” and “Falling.”
At the end of the “Watermelon Sugar” shoot, he wrapped, got in his car, came to the dance studio and we rehearsed into the night. Knowing how short a time you sometimes get with artists even for really big performances, I thought the rehearsals would dilute and we’d lose momentum, but both Phoebe and Harry were so committed.
What was the process in the studio like with Harry? We didn’t even use his [vocal] track to begin with -- we used different big band songs, some contemporary alternative music. It was just about finding his [movement] language first and foremost.  Then we developed the choreography and sent it to the directors, who gave us feedback. We enhanced the work a bit more, and then once we had some really solid sequences, Ben and Gabe storyboarded the scenes against the timeline of the music.
At this point Harry and Phoebe were still working separately, and then we joined forces in London, where we really started to refine these sequences of choreography we’d developed, trying to find the finesse and the style, almost making sense of the movement for them so they felt they had a dancer’s way of working the movement through the body. You’ve worked with a wide variety of artists, many of whom aren’t dancers first. How do you find, as you put it, the “language” of movement that makes sense for each of them as individuals?
I think the general answer is really communicating -- listening and understanding what the artist’s desire is. And also collaborating, so you don’t get too lost in yourself as a choreographer. What looks good on you might not transcend to the artist, or even necessarily the dancers.
With Harry, what was important within the language of the choreography was that it felt joyful and had personality. Him and Phoebe, with the work she’s done with Fleabag, you associate them and what they do with a sense of style, a real confidence, but at the heart of it it’s entertainment. And with the amount of time and budget we had, which was such a luxury in this day and age, we wanted to do something that pushed both of them out of their comfort zones. We tried to make it as athletic as possible but without compromising them as artists and becoming too comedic. We wanted it to be a bit quaint and cute in places, but we definitely didn’t want it to be thought of as nonsensical or silly.
Harry’s movement in the video is so crisp and precise, even his hands and arm extension look very dancerly. Did that come through a lot of specific work with you? As a songwriter and artist, for Harry it’s about detail, about pushing yourself to be the best. He’s always got questions: "Why are we doing that? Should we be doing this?" We got to a point during the rehearsal period where I brought in a ballet teacher, really to just get Harry and Phoebe to open themselves up from behind their shoulder blades, have an idea of extension, the lines that extend from your center all the way to the tip of your finger. I’d be saying, “Your arms Harry, your arm line!” Asking him to push his shoulders down, lift his carriage up, extend through his breast. And when he hit those lines, he’d be like, “Oh yeah, that feels different.” It’s funny: We spent a couple days apart -- he had to go off and do a gig somewhere -- and I was like, “I hope you’re rehearsing when you’ve got some downtime, dude!” And he sent me a picture in the gym with his arms in the most beautiful balletic arm line! I was like, "Yes, by George, you’ve got it!" Besides the Nicholas Brothers, did you have any particular dance references in mind for the feel of the choreography? I just delved into the MGM archives. Obviously [Fred] Astaire and [Gene] Kelly, the two greats -- especially with Astaire, we loved how sometimes it seems so effortless yet a bit throwaway, not totally totally perfect always.  We enjoyed the moments from him of “I’ll just do a bit of this,” “I’ll just walk off camera left,” the dropping in and out of movement.  We loved the duet “Moses Supposes” from Singin’ in the Rain, for Gene Kelly and Donald O’Connor -- we loved the camaraderie between them, which felt a bit goofball at times, and just that wry smile, the look to the left, knowing your partner is there and has got your back. It feels fizzy, it feels joyful.
And yes, there was a massive core of MGM-ism, but at the same time an absolute huge dollop of Harry-and-Phoebe-ism. It was important to us to feel a bit more contemporary, so again we stay true to Harry and Phoebe as artists. Has Harry indicated any interest in dancing more going forward?
We had a conversation back at the end of the summer about how much we enjoyed the process, and I know he was doing another project where choreography was involved, so we were just talking about it and how he felt. Coming from where he came from to what he was about to do, he felt he could be pushed even further. I don’t know if he got the bug, or if it’s just the way he is as a person, very inquisitive and wanting to keep elevating himself. There’s now been some talk on social media that it can’t be long before Harry does Broadway. What do you think?
I mean, I think with Harry Styles, anything is possible, is it not? I mean, I’m sure because he’s tasted the dance, he’ll inject that along the line in his career. It won’t necessarily be out-and-out dancing, but I guess it’s a bit like Bowie used to do, isn’t it? It’s the showmanship and presentation of the performance. Who knows? He’s just so open-minded and open-hearted — and because he’s so open it allows the universe to come back at him and he’s able to do anything he sets his mind to.

How Harry Styles Found His Inner Dancer For 'Treat People With Kindness'

Hard to say exactly as some episodes only featured a little Blaine or Klaine but that enough was iconic enough to make a great episode. So I’ve tried to pick obvious contenders, when you think about the episode you think Klaine or Blaine. Episodes like Never Been kissed or Original Song or A very glee Christmas have of course some of the best Blaine/Klaine parts but the rest of the content of the episode is poor or annoying.
So my faves;
1 Prom Queen - Everyone had a great moment in this episode. But there is enough for me to say a Klaine episode. With Kurt asking Blaine toProm, and Blaine’s other speech telling us that small, but oh how important fact about his past. And the fact that Blaine is crazy about Kurt, and Kurt is so happy to be going to prom, as well as the scene with Finn and Burt, and then the actual prom itself. All great
Tumblr media
2 Dynamic Duets - oh Night bird - the start of Blam - Sam caring enough about Blaine and Blaine has a true friend. The whole bit with the Warblers is just so good. Flawless
Tumblr media
3 The First Time - waiting for the antis to come at me, but do I care? No because I know what the scene is about and how I interpret it. And the rest of the episode is priceless - from their chat In Blaine’s room and at the locker… the introduction of Mr Slime himself, Scandals and then the end few scenes which is just right. (And Seb gets one of the best lines - sex on a stick and sings like a dream, and it wasn’t about Kurt!)
Tumblr media
4 Guilty Pleasures. The tiny wham shorts, Who shot who? Breathe mints. Blam at their best. Against all odds is brilliant. Teacher Blaine would own my heart, if he wasn’t a big superstar in the future. Even Bruce the boyfriend arm has a place in my heart.
Tumblr media
5 I do. I tentatively put this here as they probably were on screen for no more than 15 minutes. But what brilliant scenes they were!
Tumblr media
Closely followed by Puppet Master and Love love love and GABOF
Best acted moments (oh heck!!) - wow there’s going to be more than five Editing - I didn’t even mention his improvising which we see loads of times! Hurt locker part 2, with Elliott in NNY and the unscripted kisses and affection.
1 Loser like me - the break up scene. I mean he’s great at angst, with those big eyes. But he goes from happy, to shock, to sad, to anger in about 20 seconds and it’s brilliant to watch, especially with Chris’s brilliant acting here too.
Tumblr media
2 Tested - god I hate the episode but the boy can do blangst.
Tumblr media
3 oh please let me put some happy in here!! His comedic scenes are great too - so many but I’d go with Feud or Puppet Master - the scenes with Jane Lynch, when they just bounce off each other
4 He’s so believable when he’s singing and putting his heart into it. But the one I like best is. against all odds and the chat with the others and then with Sam afterwards.
5. Sometimes he doesn’t have to be singing or saying anything. Just watch some of the looks he gives at certain times. The whole Shooting Star scene, the look while Ryder sings Everybody Hurts, or Unique singing If I were a boy. Yeah we all talk about his puppy dog eyes with love, but what about the looks he gives to display the very heart of emotion.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This one too - we know he’s no angel.

Gave myself Hevans feels so here's a snippet from the fic I haven't touched in a month.

Okay so fave lines are hard so i chose one from the next chapter of One More New Direction (which will be up... when i finish the Silly Love Songs chapters and at least get an outline done for Comeback until Prom Queen, uhg)
“You calmed down?” Coach asked as his breathing evened out. “Yeah.” Dave replied, blinking against the stinging in his eyes. Fuck… when had he started crying. He swiped the tears on his cheeks away angrily and sniffed once, twice, three times, before his mask fell into place again. “Thanks.” “Any time, seriously. If you need to just… walk away from a situation and think, my door’s open. Actually,” She dug into the pocket of her shorts and fished out a set of keys before rifling through and taking one off of the keyring. She took his hand and put the key in it. “Here’s a spare key to the office in case I’m not in. Anytime you think you’re going to go off the handle I want you to take a deep breath, walk away, and go there. Ya hear me?” Dave blinked at the key in his palm but nodded. Fuck. Why did it feel like he was going to fucking cry again. It was just a key.
(okay, more than a line... opps)

From the first installment of the One More New Direction 'verse set in S2 (One More New Direction)
“It was awesome to finally sing a duet with Kurt.” Sam said earnestly, and Erin could see Kurt purse his lips, holding back a disbelieving grin, and saw Finn, sitting in the front next to Quinn, sink low in his seat.
(I think this counts as happy! makes me happy anyway! Hevans duet! Finally figuring out how to write Silly Love Songs! hell yeah!!)
:::OR:::
From the third installment of the One More New Direction 'verse set in S4 (working title: Violets & Purples)
[REDACTED] gave a soft laugh and took the initiative, [their] hands moving to the back of [REDACTED]’s neck and pulling [them] down into a kiss. Soft and slow and romantic. It felt like it could have been hours, or several days, before they came apart. [REDACTED]’s hands at [their] waist and [their] own playing with the hair on the nape of [their] neck. “I’ll see you tomorrow.” [Shey] whispered into the space between them, but didn’t make any move to pull away and open the front door.
(sorry for the redactions, big spoilers!)

From the first installment of the One More New Direction 'verse set in S2 ( One More New Direction)
She wanted to go back into that gym and shout. She wanted to curse them out, tell them off. How dare they make her best friend sob like this! She hadn’t seen him like this since his dad had been in the hospital. She just wanted to give the Junior Class a piece of her mind. But she kind of felt frozen as well, as the anger flowed through her, and as she watched her best friend break. [...] She really didn’t know what to do when someone cried. One of the reasons she tried not to cry, not in front of people, anyway. She’d been doing a good amount of isolated crying the past few days.
🎬 Share the last line you’ve written.
Last line I wrote today (from the first installment of the OMND 'verse):
Erin rolled her eyes, as Kurt opened the door, humming Dancing Queen under his breath.
The Last Line I've written in the entire verse chronologically so far (like, literally in 2030something):
“SAM!” She called, projecting her voice over the racket. His head shot up, shooting her his signature goofy grin. “You still owe me $40!”
(not sure if I'll even keep this line or this story, but i had fun writing it at the time)

ok so i’m copying the last anon who asked about lover x glee —> can you do evermore?
hell yeah i can!! the only one i didn’t come up with something for is long story short
(here’s my lover x glee headcanons if anyone missed that)
• champagne problems: Kurt sings this after he calls of his engagement with Blaine. I imagine him singing this while walking back to his apartment, except he’s taking the long route and walking past places him and Blaine had memories. These places that he reminisces over is The Spotlight Diner, the coffee cart they used to stop by, that one restaurant all of the boys used to eat at, and the piano bar (that i can’t remember the name of)
• gold rush: Kurt sings this when Sebastian and Blaine are dancing together at Scandals. It would be a dream-like sequence, he would be wearing something similar to what he did in ‘It’s All Over’ & would be walking around Sebastian & Blaine while their dancing, singing it to Blaine longingly.
• ‘tis the damn season: Rachel would sing this when she’s visiting Lima for Will & Emma’s wedding. She’d sing this as she walks out of Finn’s hotel room. Instead of singing “I’ll go back to LA,” shed sing “I’ll go back to NY.”
• tolerate it: Brittany would sing this about how she misses Santana. I’m writing these without wifi so I can’t look up the exact episode it would be in, BUT she would sing this because of how she told Santana that how she left her makes her feel like she’s hyperventilating and left behind.
• no body, no crime: Kurt would make a murder mystery dinner off of this song. Idk how these work but I’m assigning each person in the song as a member of the New Directions: Tina would be Taylor, Puck would be Este, Rachel would be Este’s husband, Mike would be the mistress, Santana would be Este’s sister, and Mercedes would be Taylor’s dad.
• happiness: Marley would sing this about her breakup with Jake in the last episode all of the newbies are in. Although she isn’t able to forgive Jake for cheating, she’s able to look back and recognize the good moments. She doesn’t want a boyfriend, as we see her telling Ryder, she knows that she is good enough for herself and that’s all that matters.
• dorothea: Sam see’s an advertisement for Mercedes new tour. A wave of melancholy hits him and he starts singing this song. He’d be silently crying with have a genuine smile on his face because even though he misses her more than anything, knowing that she has all of the fame that she deserves makes him unbelievably happy.
• coney island: Kurt and Blaine would sing this after Kurt calls off their engagement. I imagine there would be a montage of Blaine finding a different place, him moving out, and Kurt going through the stuff that he left behind.
• ivy: Finn would sing this when he realizes that he’s still in love with Rachel even though he’s dating Quinn in ‘Funeral.’ He’d be sitting in the pew, looking at where Rachel is sitting, and glance at Quinn every now and then. This would be when he realizes that he needs to breakup with Quinn.
• cowboy like me: Santana would sing this right before and Brittany start their thing. This ones kind of self explanatory.
• marjorie: Two words: Furt. Duet. They would first sing this in Ballad when they’re in Finn’s basement. Kurt starts sings this right after he tells Finn about how he opens his moms drawers, lays on the floor, and takes in the scent of his moms perfume. Finn joins in the duet around 1:50 of the song. THEN they sing a reprise of this in Home when Kurts telling Finn that it’s okay to let go of material possessions because he still has his dads memory.
• closure: Kurt would sing this when he visits McKinley in ‘Glease.’ After Blaine asks Kurt if he wants to know exactly what happened when he cheated, Kurt would sing this as a reply. This would basically be a huge middle finger to Blaine.
• evermore: Rachel and Kurt would sing this as a duet in ‘The Break Up’ kind of like how Blaine and Finn had that duet.
• right where you left me:Kurt would sing this in ‘Loser Like Me’ when he that one dude from his date is a few minutes late. This is when he realizes that he’s not over Blaine and wants him back. He wouldn’t start singing the first part of the bridge since that doesn’t really apply to his situation.
• it’s time to go: Finn would sing this when he realizes that Quinn and Rachel are in love with eachother 👀

FanFiction.Net: https://www.fanfiction.net/s/13927358/3/Kurtbastian-Singing-Adam-Lambert (Chapter 3)
“We are so going to win this,” Kurt exclaimed as he walked out of the bathroom stall and looked at his outfit in the mirror. He was wearing a black leather jacket, a skintight black shirt, black leather pants and black, knee-high laced up boots. He had on sunglasses even though it was indoors and his hair was spiked up with hair gel. He had drawn a star on his cheek and had blue and purple glitter on his face along with guyliner.
“Well they might as well just give it to us now with the way we look,” Sebastian said, walking out of his stall and up to Kurt. Him and Kurt were matching except Sebastian wasn’t wearing the laced-up boots. He looked his boyfriend up and down and smiled. “We look hot.”
“I know we do babe,” Kurt said, kissing him on the cheek. “And our performance is going to be even better, I know it.”
“Yeah well we better get going, don’t want to keep everyone waiting. Do you think Mr. Schue and Artie have everything set up?” Sebastian asked. They had asked Mr. Schue if they could have some special effects and props for their performance and their teacher had happily agreed.
“I don’t know,” Kurt said, taking out his phone. “I’ll text Artie and ask him.”
The week’s assignment in the glee club was to sing a song about victory and Kurt and Sebastian had admittedly known the perfect song for them to sing. It was upbeat and full of energy. The assignment was a competition and whatever group won got the duet at Sectionals. Sebastian didn’t really care about winning since he had been the lead soloist for the Warblers and had sung solos at the competitions but he knew that Kurt wasn’t as lucky as him even if he was the most talented performer in the group. He knew how much a duet would mean for Kurt so they went all out with costumes, make-up, special effects and props. They also came up with matching choreography and Sebastian had to say that it was the most work and effort he had ever put into anything. But it was all worth it because he knew they were going to win and he really wanted that duet for Kurt. His boyfriend deserved it.
Kurt had told him about the glee club’s duet competition last year and about how he ended up singing a duet by himself because Finn didn’t want him to sing with Sam. It had just hurt Kurt even more when Sam and Quinn had won the competition and Kurt had told him that even though he loved singing “Le Jazz Hot” that he was glad he had a partner this year. Sebastian had seen the video of Kurt’s performance and thought that Kurt would be the only person in the world who could pull off singing a duet as a solo.
His costume was so creative and so was the background he had designed. He had also designed costumes for the Cheerios he had paid to act as background dancers for him and the choreography was stunning. Sebastian thought that he should’ve won but Kurt told him that Finn and Rachel were acting fishy the whole time so they probably had something to do with Sam and Quinn’s win. Not that they didn’t deserve to win but even Santana and Mercedes’ performance of “River Deep, Mountain High'' was mind blowing. Kurt didn’t care about winning so much as having someone to sing with and made a joke saying that he may be able to sing a duet by himself but that he didn’t want to have dinner by himself. But last year didn’t matter anymore because this year they were going to win a duet at Sectionals and not some stupid dinner at a cheap restaurant when Sebastian could easily pay for his own date and could take Kurt to a 5-star restaurant.
Plus this time the group couldn’t vote for themselves so as long as they blew it out of the park then they were for sure the winners. They were the last to go this week seeing that they had spent so long preparing themselves and that they had just finished up their performance the previous day. Brittany and Santana had sung “Try Everything” by Shakira, Finn and Rachel had sung “The Climb” by Miley Cyrus, Sam and Puck had sung “Victorious” by Panic! At The Disco, Tina, Mercedes and Quinn had sung “Shake It Off” by Taylor Swift as a trio and Mike and Artie had sung “On Top Of The World” by Imagine Dragons. All the performances were good but Sebastian thought that the only competition they really had was against Sam and Puck since they had picked a song similar to theirs, the only difference was they didn’t put in the extra effort. They had it in the bag.
“He says they're ready,” Kurt squealed. “Oh, I’m so excited, Seb, just imagine us singing a duet at Sectionals. Together. It’d be so romantic and fun and we would win the competition for the New Directions.”
“Well you won’t have to imagine much longer. You deserve this more than anyone else Kurt. Don’t go down without a fight, okay?” Sebastian told him. Sebastian thought that sometimes Kurt went too easy on his friends and let them push him to the side when Kurt was a star. He needed to stand up for himself more and go after what he wanted.
“I won’t, I promise.” Kurt said and grabbed ahold of Sebastian’s hand. “Now let’s go win this duet.” He cheered and they grabbed their stuff before walking out of the bathroom.
They walked to the choir room hand in hand, mentally preparing themselves for their song. They couldn’t help but worry a little too much, especially Kurt. The choreography was a little complicated and it had taken them some time to really nail it down but it would be worth it in the end. It was fast, just like the music and they had to mind the spacing in the choir room also.
Once they reached the choir room they stood outside of the doors, Kurt to the right and Sebastian to the left. They were planning to come into the room when the music started to surprise everyone and to add an effect. They would storm into the room, grabbing everyone’s attention and the lights and the costumes and the choreography and the singing would be a crowd pleaser.
“Okay, why am I so nervous?” Kurt asked, pacing back and forth, fidgeting with his hands.
“I don’t know, why are you?” Sebastian asked. Kurt had no reason to be nervous right now. He was amazing and he could and would pull this off. “Hey, look at me babe,” He told Kurt and took his hands to hold them. “We’re going to win this and we're going to perform at Sectionals. Don’t worry about it, you’re going to psych yourself out.”
“I know,” Kurt nodded. “I just… things are never certain and I really want this Seb. It’s my last Sectionals and I want it to be really special.”
“I know you do and I want this for you too so just calm down, focus, breathe and get your head in the game.”
“I will,” Kurt said, doing what Sebastian told him to do and taking a deep breath. “Artie says that he’ll text me when they're ready inside but the band is still setting up.”
Sebastian nodded and gave Kurt a kiss before going back to the other door to the choir room. Inside everyone was talking to each other about the setup of the room.
“Of course this is for Lady Hummel and Fivel, gays always go full out,” Santana said, looking around the room.
“Well doesn’t this seem like a little too much?” Rachel asked the group who just shrugged in response. “I mean it’s not like they’re going to win over me and Finn.”
“You know what Man-Hands,” Quinn snapped. “Just for that I’m not voting for you. And The Climb was the worst. How is that about victory?”
“It’s about overcoming obstacles in life. My obstacles being you guys and how hard it is working with people who are less talented than you.” Rachel said, nonchalantly.
“Rachel, babe, you can’t just say things like that.” Finn told her. “It’s not nice. But anyways, this does seem like something Kurt would do. Remember his “duet” last year?”
“You mean the duet he did by himself because your homophobic ass couldn’t handle him singing a song with Sam?” Quinn asked, raising an eyebrow. “I remember and he nailed it. You guys better watch out because now he has Sebastian and we all know how badly he wants a duet.”
“Hey, I wasn’t being homophobic, I was looking out for the team. Sam knows what I’m talking about right dude?” Finn asked Sam who shrugged.
“I don’t know man, some of the shit you said was really offensive. And I was all set to sing with him and then you talked to us and he set me free. I would totally have still done it if it wasn’t for you.” Sam explained, narrowing his eyes at Finn. Sam liked Kurt a lot and they were really close with one another. Sam treated Kurt like he was one of the guys and they had only bonded more when Kurt had helped him out the previous school year with his siblings. He had really wanted to sing with him but then Kurt had let him go and Sam was too worried about his popularity at the time to try and get Kurt to keep their arrangement. Up until now Kurt and Sam had only sung one or two lines together in a group piece and Sam had always thought that maybe he could still see if Kurt wanted to sing with him. He’d have to ask him.
“That’s not what I meant, it’s just…” Finn’s voice trailed off and threw his hands in the air, frustrated. “... you just don’t get it,”
“It doesn’t matter now anyway. Kurt has a partner this time and it’s obvious that he’s in it to win it with Seb,” Tina said. “He should’ve gotten this a long time ago.” She rolled her eyes at Rachel.
“Yeah well he could’ve gotten a solo at Sectionals two years ago if he would’ve hit the high F but he couldn’t despite saying he was able to. It’s not my fault that I have a superior vocal range.” Rachel sneered.
“You know what Berry I’m sick of your shit,” Santana yelled, pointing her finger at Rachel. “Let me give you a little newsflash here. First of all, half the people in this room like Artie, Mercedes and I have a better vocal range than you. Kurt can sing just as good as any of us but no one ever gives him the chance to shine. He can hit that note, he’s hit it several times before right in front of you but you never noticed because your ego’s ten sizes the size it should be. We weren’t going to tell you because we didn’t want to risk you throwing a hissy fit and blabbing your mouth but we already decided that we’re voting for him. He deserves this and he’s the only member of this club that hasn’t had a chance to shine yet. So shut up, suck it up and deal with it you selfish bitch.” Santana fell back in her seat and folded her arms across her stomach as she watched her friends' (and Rachel’s) expressions.
All the girl besides Rachel looked proud of her (and why shouldn't they be), the boys looked surprised and shocked (which they shouldn't be because that wasn’t the first time she had told Berry off) and Finn and Rachel looked like she had just slapped them (and they were lucky that she didn’t because she really wanted to).
The room was silent for a few seconds before Artie and Mr. Schue came out of Mr. Schue’s adjoining office. “Okay everyone, I think we’re all ready to watch our last performance from Kurt and Sebastian. Artie you can get Kurt to tell him that we’re all ready for him.” Artie pulled out his phone to text Kurt while Mr. Schue continued talking. “Now after they are finished we’ll be voting to see who wins the competition and remember, you can’t vote for yourselves this time.”
“Is there even a point in voting?” Rachel muttered and everyone except Finn shot her a death glare.
“Okay, he says that they’re ready,” Artie said. “Let’s start up the smoke and then he says they’ll come in when the music starts playing.”
“Alright then,” Mr. Schue said, going over to the smoke machine and staring it up. “Hit it you guys,” He said, referring to the band who started playing the background music for the song.
“Wait,” Kurt said. “I hear the music,” He told Sebastian. “Ready babe?”
“Born ready babe,” Sebastian assured his boyfriend. “Let’s do this,”
And with that they opened their doors and walked into the choir room like they had planned to. They admittedly started singing while going through the choreography like they planned. The scene was perfect. They were blue and purple lights flashing around the room and Mr. Schue and Artie had properly set up the smoke machine so that the room was misty. Kurt and Sebastian felt like they were at an actual rock concert which got them in the mood for their performance even more.
We're coming up like killing machines
Our big guns gonna shatter your scene
It's pandemonium on the floor
'Cause everybody wants a little more
They wanna ride on the rocket ship
Ride around the moon for a velvet kiss
'Cause all the girls and the boys wanna know
How far this bad wild child's gonna go
Everyone seemed to be enjoying their performance already except for Rachel who had a stony expression on her face and who sat there in her chair with her arms crossed. They kept dancing and Kurt felt a sort of high when he realized that they were hitting the moves exactly like how they had planned. Kurt turned into Sebastian and then Sebastian took his arm and spun him back out. Then they had prepped themselves before going into a roundoff back handspring in the choir room, earning clapping and cheering from their friends.
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
Bringing the heat and the word is out
Giving you something to shout about
We are, yeah, we are, we are the sure fire winners
Sure fire winners, sure fire winners, sure fire winners
They both sang the chorus and walked around the room and interacted with their audience, Sebastian high fived Puck and Sam while Kurt danced with Quinn and Brittany. ‘So far so good’ Kurt thought to himself, excitedly. He was so happy that they seemed happy about him being so extra about the performance and that they seemed to love it. He was just a few minutes away from winning the duet, he could feel the feeling of victory already and the song just pumped him up even more.
Flick the switch and the missile will fire
I'm a heat seeker when I'm full of desire
We're all drawn to the heat of the flame
'Cause you wanna be a star in the hall of fame
I was born with glitter on my face
My baby clothes made of leather and lace
And all the girls in the club wanna know
Where did all their pretty boys go?
The boys went back to the center of the room and Sebastian quickly glanced over to Kurt and was happy to see how into it he was. He was moving along with the music, adding his own pizazz to their dancing. He put his hand on his face and dragged it down his face to emphasize the glitter and then took his jacket off his shoulders slightly, matching with the lyrics. On the last line they stood back to back and sang it together as the audience continued to cheer and holler.
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
Bringing the heat and the word is out
Giving you something to shout about
We are, yeah, we are, we are the sure fire winners
Winners winners
They started singing the chorus again. They stood on opposite sides of the room and swung one leg forward before forcing it back and flipping over into a backflip. Then Kurt slid to the floor in a split and swung his legs forward to spin himself around on the floor. Sebastian walked over to him and took his hand spinning him around in the floor before helping him up off the floor. Kurt stood up gracefully and Sebastian dipped Kurt back. They held the pose as Sebastian took over the lyrics and then Sebastian lowered Kurt down so he could fall into a backbend. He let go as Kurt kicked himself over and then they started singing the bridge.
Ooh yeah, take a walk on the wild with me
Gonna take you to the top to the brink of what you believe
Never gonna stop 'til we reach the top
Never gonna stop 'til we reach the top
You'd better get out of the game it's never gonna be the same
Move over 'cause a new boy's calling it time
They both hit the high note and Kurt had to resist the temptation he had to ditch the choreography and to jump up and down with excitement. They walked around the room, clapping their hands together and the rest of the glee club even Rachel joined in on the clapping. There was no way they weren’t going to win. Everyone was loving them and they were doing amazing. They were on fire, they were pumped up and they were going to finish out strong.
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
Bringing the heat and the word is out
Giving you something to shout about
We are, yeah, we are, we are the sure fire winners
They pumped their fists up in the air as they sang the lyrics. Mercedes, Tina and Quinn were singing the lyrics along with them, Mike, Brittany and Santana were doing their own moves in their seats, Puck, Sam and Artie were pumping their fists along with Kurt and Sebastian and Finn and Rachel were quietly observing the scene but Kurt could tell that they were both impressed with him and his boyfriend.
Ooh yeah yeah-oh yeah yeah yeah
Mr. Schue’s expression was the best though. He seemed shocked with Kurt’s and Sebastian’s dance moves and singing, like he didn’t know they had it in them. There was nothing more that both boys loved more than proving people wrong while also proving themselves.
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
We are the sure fire winners
Uh-oh yeah big time hitters
Bringing the heat and the word is out
Giving you something to shout about
Yeah we are, yeah, we are, we are the sure fire winners
Kurt walked over to Sebastian and they stood next to each other as they finished out their dancing, ensign off with a series of complicated footwork. They got it right, matching it up with music and ended their song, posing, back to back again, with their arms crossed and their heads bowed down a little so that their sunglasses slipped down to the bridge of their noses.
Gonna take you to the top to the brink of what you believe
Gonna take you to the top to the brink of what you believe
Gonna take you to the top to the brink of what you believe
The music faded out and they held their pose as they got a standing ovation from their friends. Everyone cheered and clapped for them and Kurt finally gave in to his temptation and jumped up and down, holding hands with Sebastian. They hugged each other and Sebastian lifted Kurt off his feet.
“Wow,” Mr. Schue exclaimed. “That was amazing boys. The costumes, the special effects, the energy, kudos to the both of you.”
“Thank you,” Kurt said, still full of energy. He was so happy at the moment, he wouldn’t even be that upset if they had lost. Of course, they weren’t going to though because they had kicked ass but nothing was written in stone yet.
“What do you say guys?” Mr. Schue asked his students. “Are we ready to vote?”
“Actually Mr. Schue, I don’t think that’s necessary,” Rachel said, standing up. “We all decided that we want Kurt and Sebastian to sing at Sectionals. Kurt really deserves it and I think that his performance with Sebastian just goes to show that even more.” Everyone nodded their heads in agreement and Sebastian squeezed Kurt’s hand. He was getting his duet!
“I couldn’t agree more Rachel,” Mr. Schue said as he turned back to the two boys. “Well, congratulations you two, you won the duet. Start brainstorming some ideas and we'll talk about it tomorrow. Oh, and try to incorporate some of those moves. That’ll guarantee us a win alone. Well done gentleman.”
“We did it Seb,” Kurt said, hugging him again. “We did it. We’re gonna sing at Sectionals. Oh my god.” Everyone laughed at how excited Kurt was and clapped for the boys again.
“I know, I know,” Sebastian told him. “This is great. You did great. You were amazing babe.”
“I couldn’t have done it without you, Seb” Kurt smiled and they kissed each other before going to sit down in their seats. They would have to do this all over again and they both couldn’t wait.
