My Commentary:

Like, some of the obvious POP culture references / in-jokes some of the other ‘outfits’ had aside, most of these outfits actually looked quite reasonable (and comfy, imo!! - which is pretty much the point I think Koushiro was going for?!??) and I could easily see Koushiro wearing some/most any of these canonically at various points of Koushiro’s tri. and post-tri. teen-aged lifetime, even just purely for fun. Heck, I’ve seen fan-artists (including on the J.P.N end and even in / using specifically their Tri-esque designs / outfits) draw Koushiro in MULTIPLE outfits like this!

{I kind of think the “King” outfit SHOULD stay, though.}

Also, the kimono choice is, like, fine? Koushiro’s Japanes---?

OK but Mainly I want to know which animator/Clothing Designer (as I’ve seen exist from some Tri and etc. Staff listings) specifically was involved in this specific segment / outfit set because they were clearly having a BLAST designing Koushiro like 20+ random outfits and honestly, as a Koushiro fan who has supported Koushiro since finding this series in my childhood I CAN’T actually blame them?? (You don’t even HAVE to use / consider every single one there, even TRI!KOUSHIRO doesn’t canonically use all of these!!)

Taichi Yagami & Koushiro{u} Izumi ~ featuring rp by @izzyizumi as Koushiro{u} + my now-ancient r.p. from 2012 era {I was playing Koushiro from original J.P.N version canon; Clearly the Tai{chi}-mun was using U.S. dub inspirations, but I was fine with that!}

Original commentary under the ‘read more’!

The style is one in which starters are the characters talking to their "mun" or players, which is common when "voice-testing" a character to possibly app {apply} into a future {typically pan-fandom, or cross-canon across multiple fan-bases} DWrp {Dreamwidth.org} rp game. Games usually have their own settings, styles and rules and you should carefully consider them before applying to any. (I eventually ended up applying for Koushiro at a DigiAdv{s}-centric game that ended up eventually dying...)

I whited out a few parts to give the former Tai-mun a bit of privacy, but to my knowledge I haven't seen them as active since. Hopefully they won't mind me posting just one old thread between us, because it was really really fun to try back then! Even playing Koushiro was still really fun, despite it being for a very short timeframe of a couple years + even if I never found an active Taichi player {+in a close in age range} to me since.

This was BEFORE Tri had fully aired or before Kokuhaku was even announced, so Koushiro has a small mix of icons I'm using, but sometimes I switch between "canon-points" of early Adventure!Koushiro or late, OWG era or post-02 but pre-epilogue!Koushiro. Tri!Koushiro wasn't even animated more animatedly yet (and much later had very limited appearance in Saikai, etc.), so I was mainly relying on my head-canons for a Koushiro that appears between 2002 and the epilogue, but I often imagined Koushiro of those ages still sticking very close to both 02 and Tri looks. {I did like Tri giving Koushiro back slightly spikier hair, because that was how I imagined Koushiro during in-between years too.} Muns could later go back and update some icons, so some default icons may later change as well. {That's how a Tri!Taichi icon shows here even though it's 2k12}

Also, its very fun because you can personalize your responses even using things like subject headers way better than on this kind of site, and sometimes muns leave you really fun and kind messages that make you want to cry so you try to show them appreciation in turn!!!

DIGIMON 30 DAY CHALLENGE

DAY 08: FAVORITE COUPLE

Simple, my OTP... KOUMI, by far.

I don’t even need to explain why i love them, BUT I WILL.

I think that from all the Adventure couples, Koumi has the best chemistry between them.

Jyoumi is a very clear friendship, just like Taiora, in my opinion.

Also, Koushiro and Mimi complement so good, and they have any kind of moments; cute ones, intense ones and even funny ones.

I think they complement each other maybe even better than Sorato, which is a very good pairing too.

I’m going to put my Top 5 Koumi moments, one for each letter.

#5-K

On adventure episode 10, the day that Koumi was born, we saw Mimi getting angry because Koushiro was ignoring her (because she’s used to have everyone giving her all the attention (Joe) and her demands (Taichi) haha), so she makes a scene in order to get Koushiro’s attention.

It worked, and Koushiro came to save her, and from then, they showed some good chemistry as a couple.

After that, they travel together to fight Devimon, flying on Kabuterimon.

#4-O

When the digidestined went to the hot springs, Mimi was with the girls, picking up their clothes model, and Koushiro was with Takeru, picking up their clothes too, and then Mimi appears next to Koushiro and helps him to choose.

It looks like a Girlfriend-Boyfriend thing that the girl chooses clothes for her man.

#3-U

After the Reboot, the digidestined lost their digimon partners, then Koushiro calls everyone to make a plan for going to the Digiworld, but everyone ignores him, except Mimi, which still was mad at him for their early discussions.

She comes by to his office, stares at him, worried, cleans up the place, and leaves him a new bottle of his beloved tea.

If it that doesn’t means love, i don’t know what does it means.

#2-M

When the Digidestined went to the digital world on Tri #4, they were having a picnic, Mimi was on the right side, with the girls, and Koushiro was with Takeru on the other side, and she switched places and went next to Koushiro just to feed him with her food.

That scene blow my mind. Geez.

#1-I

When they saw each other again, after a long time, they sat together on the car, and Mimi catched Koushiro looking at her and she just gave him that “I got you, now you’re mine” sexy look.

That moment represents Mimi has noticed that Koushiro finally developed attraction for her.

And she appears to love it.

I’m really looking forward for Toei making Koumi canon, they deserve it, and we deserve it too.

What do you think of Tri?

Oof, you're going right for it! xD I'll toss this under the cut, as my understanding is that this is kind of a hot button issue. I can't really tag it as Tri positivity or negativity, as I think Tri is a mixed bag, so I guess be ready for both if you read on, but skewed towards negative.

Basically, I think Tri had some interesting ideas, but was executed poorly.

I love the idea of the National Data Processing Bureau and the strained human/digimon relationship. I loooove the concept of the Chosen being stuck between several forces (the general populace and authorities being against them on earth, Yggdrasil wanting to destroy earth and humans, Homeostasis wanting to restore the Digital World at the cost of Meicoomon, the partner digimon, and the Chosen). The Chosen taking a stand against the force that helped choose and guide them? Nice, interesting.

But there are a lot of problems. Even the most basic story telling cohesion is a mess. There is a time when the scene shifts from day to night in an instant (Saikai). There are times when the internal rules suddenly change without explanation (electronics are said to malfunction around distortions in Saikai, but Koushiro talks to Mimi on the phone during a distortion in Ketsui while a reporter broadcasts the fight by a distortion live from a helicopter). And none of this is "it is not cohesive with the bajillion episodes and movies that preceded it" stuff; these are internal issues within Tri itself.

In my opinion, there are enormous pacing issues (extremely slow pace until the last act, with the main villain Yggdrasil info dumping their motive in a few sentences towards the end of Shoshitsu) and issues with the Chosen ignoring leads and problems mounting around them to engage in fluffy stuff like... onsen trips, culture festivals, ghost stories, and drawn out conversations about... well, mostly about avoiding actually saying anything to each other, with the occasional actual conversation.

Oh, and I'm not saying Tri shouldn't have fluff. Fans love that, in general. My position, though, is that you need to allocate enough time to your plot first, and in my opinion, Tri failed to do so.

And obviously, the treatment of the 02 crew is terrible, as was the lack of reaction to apparently "destroying" V-mon and Wormmon in Ketsui. There's really no way to adequately explain why the Chosen failed to react to those issues (or had slight reactions delayed a few days/weeks/months? I'm unclear on the timeline, but Hikari and Takeru should have noticed that Daisuke and Miyako weren't at school right away).

I've heard folks try to defend various... unpopular aspects of Tri by saying things like... I dunno, "you don't understand this type of Japanese story structure," or "the Chosen trust that the 02 kids can take care of themselves," or "you don't get the philosophy behind it." And everyone is entitled to their opinion/interpretation, but, um.

There's a difference between offering information on whatever type of story structure someone thinks Tri has and the potential philosophy behind it and telling folks that they simply lack the knowledge/intelligence/reference point to appreciate a series of animated films. And historically, the Chosen are supportive and quick to help one another, while also believing in each other. The older kids give the 02 crew room to do their thing in 02, but when one of them gets stuck (Hikari is locked in the Digital World city), or when the kids needed real world support (Taichi, Yamato, and Koushiro go camping to cover their absence), they... they help, same day, right away. Same thing for Jyou, who dropped his test to help the kids when they were stuck underwater.

Even with all of that, there were moments that made Tri worth it for me. For example, Yamato and Gabumon talking about their future, and how Gabumon will always be beside him and supporting him, that shit got me dude ;_; There were some powerful emotional highs in Tri, and a lot of moments to enjoy. They were just... connected to a roughshod plot that couldn't support them.

BUT! Do you know what happens when I enjoy aspects of canon, but want to change some things? FANFIC, THAT'S WHAT! So that's a huge bonus for this gal!

I don't have any strong feelings about Tri one way or the other; I think I'm pretty dispassionate about saying, "I liked this, I didn't like that." So I don't mind discussing and exploring it. While it released, admittedly, I was more emotional, but I firmly believe that fandom is a place to have fun. If something about it bothers me, I make adjustments and/or step away as needed.

So, whatever your stance on Tri, please take care of yourself! And thank you for the ask, hopefully I didn't ruffle too many feathers, lol!

Mostrati altri bozzetti per il nuovo film dei Digimon

La pellicola, realizzata per i 20 anni del franchise, vede tornare il character designer storico Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru.

Arrivano direttamente dallo stand Toei Animation alcune foto con i bozzetti per il nuovo dei Digimon, dal titolo ancora provvisorio “Gekijou-ban Digimon Adventure” (Digimon Adventure the Movie). La pellicola festeggerà i 20 anni del franchise e sarà supervisionata dallo storico produttore Hiromi Seki. A disegnare i personaggi, ormai ventiduenni, è Katsuyoshi Nakatsuru (Digimon Adventure, Dragon Ball GT); il creature designer sarà invece quello di Kenji Watanabe.

Di seguito trovate Taichi Yagami (Tai Kamiya nella versione occidentale), Yamato Ishida (Matt Ishida nella versione occidentale) e Sora Takeuchi.

Qua invece vediamo Koushiro Izumi (Izzy), Mimi Tachikawa, Joe Kido.

Infine abbiamo Takeru Takaishi (T.K.) e Hikari Kamiya (Kari).

Per celebrare il 15° anniversario del franchise, Toei Animation ha lanciato nel 2015 la saga cinematografica “Digimon Adventure tri.”, una serie di sei lungometraggi che costituisce in tutto e per tutto il sequel delle storiche prime due stagioni televisive “Digimon Adventure” e “Digimon Adventure 02″ divenute popolari anche in italia grazie al passaggio sulle reti Rai.

Il primo, Saikai, è stato proiettato il 21 novembre 2015, il secondo Ketsui ha fatto il suo debutto il 12 marzo 2016, il terzo Kokuhaku ha debuttato il 24 settembre 2016, mentre il quarto Soushitsu è uscito il 25 febbraio 2017. Il quinto, Kyousei, è sbarcato nei cinema giapponesi il 30 settembre 2017 e l’ultimo, Bokura no Mirai è uscito nelle sale giapponesi il 5 maggio di quest’anno.

I think the best thing about the Chosen in Tri is they're all like "why do I even like these people?" On paper they should not even run in the same circles, but because of Adventure they're all besties. Also, second best thing is that the girls constantly put the guys in their place: Taichi and Yamato are always afraid of angering Sora, Mimi has Jyou and Koushiro wrapped around her finger, and Hikari shuts Mr. Flirtatious down every chance she gets.

Yeah, I love how they’ve all got such distinct personalities and interests. The things that scared us before Saikai’s release - producers etc saying things like “their lives are very different so they don’t spend much time together” - in the end, never meant more or less than that. They lead different lives, but they still very much see themselves as a team and connected to each other.

The ladies of Digimon are scary, it is known. The boys are just at an awkward age hahaha.

(Anyway, I need an A.U. like this where Taichi runs into +French-speaking Koushiro in France, {in Tri: Saikai, Koushiro is canonically attempting learning some French, and as the cap above shows, takes Koushiro's parents to a fancy French restaurant - it is also heavily implied it's Koushiro paying for their meal, as well as helping them order} and Taichi's "beige suit" and shoes "make a sensation" for someone we all Know...)

My commentary:

I’m aware there’s quite a few ongoing and recent fan events right now that might have had Taichi or Koushiro involvement, but I was tied up with offline things; Thus, this time is an A.M.V. that is mainly Koushiro-centric, but TAICHI does get some quite good focus too, and, specifically, also their (Very Good) relationship! There is also some vid-style analysis on the dynamics of Izumi Family, as well as the Yagami Family. It’s also yet another "analysis” of Koushiro & Taichi in general, too. (Basically any of my other ships can also be read in, in varying combos.)

Notes:

This is the preliminary 1st version of this A.M.V. Hopefully you find some enjoyment as it is now though! The 1st part had taken about 45~ min already. The 2nd verse + chorus took about another 35~ min. This 3rd section took about 30 min at start, another 1 hr to wrap up scenes through the interlude, and already had a total of 1 crashing of my editor. The last segment took about 45 min total; Thus, total time spent on this? 3 hours and 35~ min or so. These may not be final scenes as I make future adjustments. (However, it came together well despite the crash!)

There is a tiny bit of scenery shots from beginning of Kizuna, then, by the interlude, some more notable Kizuna spoilers involving Taichi & Koushiro mainly, but you will see a scene involving Chosen. Tri spoilers, mainly Taichi & Koushiro supporting each other moments, are also added in the interlude and the ending; there are small moments from Saikai, Kokuhaku & Kyousei, mainly. The ends of Kokuhaku, Kyousei & Bokura no Mirai / Our Future are not spoiled, but there is lead-up. Kokuhaku middle-end spoiler occurs in the final chorus; a scene namely showing Taichi and Koushiro supporting each other (I’ve used it often in past A.M.V.s). A tiny Bokura no Mirai moment of just Koushiro is also included.

DigiAdv 2020 (for A.U. spinoff{s}) becomes included by the interlude (it’s mainly Koushiro moments from beginning + middle of Ep 36) However, it can also be seen as inclusive of wider Adventure{s} “canon”; and basically paralleling many of the following canon moments.

Koumi Week

Day 02: Future / Parenting

Word Count: 1078

Pairing: Koushiro Izumi & Mimi Tachikawa

Time Period: Digimon Adventure Tri (Saikai / Reunion)

[ Prologue: ]

This story is set just after the moment when Mimi says she’s going to be in the same class as Koushiro.

Koushiro takes Mimi to their classroom, where she presents herself to the class.

[ Professor speaking ]

“Ohayō class, today we have a new student, she just moved in from North America, so we’re going to present ourselves with her. I go first.

My name is Miyazaki Kōji, I’m your math professor this year, and please let me introduce myself:

I’m 37 years old, I have a degree in physics, I love classic music and Italian food. Now, in list order everyone is going to pass in front and tell your name, age, what do you want to be when you grow up, and things and hobbies you like to do”.

Koushiro sat on his place, on the 3rd desk on the first line from left to right, next to the window. The desk next to him was empty, just like the desk behind.

Mimi followed Koushiro and sat next to him.

— Nice seat, Koushiro-kun, lucky me that there’s a free desk right next to you. Now we can do some chit-chat. — said the brown haired girl while giving him a cute smile.

For some reason, Koushiro didn’t had a lot of friends, despite the fact he was polite and the first of his class. All his classmates thinked he was weird, and most of them avoided talking to him. But Koushiro didn’t care, he always was in his world, typing his class notes in his laptop.

—Next one is Izumi Koushiro. —said Miyazaki-sensei.

The red haired teen standed up and walked to the front of the classroom, when he noticed Mimi was looking at him, with a big smile.

Koushiro tried to avoid looking at Mimi, but their eyes met, and Koushiro blushed heavily.

—My name is Izumi Koushiro, i-i’m 16 years old. — said the teen while blushing even more.

Koushiro was very shy, and the whole class was laughing because of his blushing. But Mimi wasn’t laughing at all, she kept looking at him, smiling. He made eye contact with Mimi, and noticed that she didn’t have taken her eyes off him, then she wave at him. His heart started pumping fast, and the blushing went worse.

—When i’m older I want to be a software developer and… — Koushiro stopped talking, he was too embarrassed to keep with the presentation, so he just returned to his desk, hiding his face.

—I never knew you were this shy, Koushiro-kun. — Mimi whispered to his friend, while giving him a naive look. Koushiro blushed red-hot, and he just kept typing things in his laptop.

— Next one is our new student: Tachikawa Mimi, come over here. — said Miyazaki-sensei. —Hi, everyone, my name is Tachikawa Mimi, I’m 16 years old too. I want to be a famous chef when I grow up, and having my own fusion cuisine restaurant in New York. I want to marry at 31, and to have a very handsome husband, and two gorgeous kids, first a boy, and then a girl, so her older brother would protect her from bullies. I love going shopping, yes, I love buying clothes, nice shoes, purses, everything. My hobbies are watching series and hanging out with my friends, right, Koushiro-kun? — The girl looked at his friend, making him blush like never before.

—I see you have your future very well planned, Tachikawa. Nice. You can take seat, thanks. — said the professor.

Mimi went happily to her place next to Koushiro, and gave him a victory sign. —That’s how is done, Koushiro-kun. — said Mimi, giving Koushiro a triumphant smile.

The class ended and all the students started to leave the classroom, except Koushiro, who was still working in his laptop.

—KOUSHIRO-KUN! CLASS IS OVER, LET’S GO! — Mimi yelled at him with a big smile.

The red haired teen gave her “that look”. “The look” that he always flashed to her when she was annoying him. He had the same look that he used to give her 6 years ago, when they were in the Digital World.

Koushiro finished saving his files, and closed up his laptop, Mimi took her purse and walked together out of the classroom.

While they were walking through the hallway, Mimi started looking Koushiro in a doubtful way.

—What is it, Mimi-san? Is something wrong? — asked Koushiro.

—I’m upset with you, Koushiro-kun. I wanted to know what to you wanted to be in the future. Also I wanted to know your hobbies and the stuff you like. You’re always so mysterious. It makes me mad. — said Mimi.

At the time Mimi finished talking, they were at the schoolyard, Koushiro sat on a bench bellow a great tree, and Mimi sat next to him.

—I don’t know what I want to do with my future, Mimi-san. I never think in things like that. I don’t know if I’m going to study here, or maybe I’ll go to college in another country. Right now I’m studying English, French, Deutsch and a bit of Spanish. But I’ve never thought about having family, and stuff like that. — said Koushiro.

When Koushiro ended up talking, Mimi was looking at him very surprised. Then she closed her eyes and smiled.

—I knew that you were interesting. But you like playing it hard, don’t you? —said Mimi, while she put her hand on Koushiro’s shoulder.

—I still don’t know what you like doing in your free time. Do you have any hobbie, Koushiro-kun? Do you practice any sport or something? — asked Mimi, while giving him an innocent smile.

Koushiro blushed a little, intrigued by Mimi’s interest on him.

—Well, I don’t really play any sport, I’m not good at them. But I like playing chess. — He said, looking to the ground, still a little blushed.

—Do you like playing videogames? — asked Mimi

—I’ve never been really into videogames, but I don’t dislike them. —answered Koushiro.

Mimi frowned a little.

—Why you ask, Mimi-san? —Because I love playing videogames, when I lived in New York I was a big fan of Mario Kart and Legend of Zelda.

Koushiro looked at Mimi with surpise, blushing a little.

—I-I never thought that you liked playing videogames, Mimi san — said Koushiro.

Mimi frowned again, and said — why? A girl couldn’t like videogames, Koushiro-kun?

Koushiro blushed and then Mimi started to laugh.

—Haha, chill out, Koushiro-kun, I was kidding. I think is funny that I’ve known you from years ago, but I don’t really know a lot of things from you. You see? You don’t know a lot of things from me neither. But I hope we will know each other better, Koushiro-kun.

Remember how Koushiro is completely clueless to the fact that Taichi and Yamato had an argument, because he was too engrossed in his computer and what he was saying

Well I also noticed that prior to the meetings start everyone seems to be looking at either Taichi or Yamato and be aware that something is wrong. Likely also aware that a fight could very well be on the horizon based on past experience. Except Koushiro, who appears to be looking down (potentially at Tentomon). So, he’s just very unobservant throughout the entire encounter and this makes me smile.
