"My name is Izumi Koushirou and I just recently turned thirty. I'm studying science related material at Keio University, though I've technically already graduated, I am always trying to further my education and my career goal in the field of relevant scientific research fields. My family... consists of my parents. My favorite drink is ... Oolong. My favorite food ... I lately really enjoy Chinese takeout, and dishes in general, but I also enjoy Japanese home cooked dishes. Omurice is also a favorite. I like my eggs with some ponzu. The food I hate ... there are 'some' things that I mostly just try to avoid, but I do well with that. People usually listen and try to be accomodating if I make a polite request to not be served the food. If they didn't, I would have already left. Strength: I try to maintain an open mind about the world and reality around me. Weakness: I'm actually quite obstinate. Going thoroughly insane over how on completely different ends Sora's and Koushirou's roles and relationships with their mothers (and in extension their parents in general) are portrayed in Adventure. And once again, it was ALL based on miscommunication:
Sora is perceived as the tradition-defying "tomboy" who is "loud" and plays football; Koushirou is perceived as the "good boy" who is always "polite and correct" and never acts spoilt or out of line. The key word here is "perceived", because we see both of them display traits in front of their peers that go beyond the "role" their parents witness (and that both of them are willingly or subconsciously displaying in front of them); Sora is actually the caring mom/big sister friend who literally and figuratively takes everyone under their wing, Koushirou is opinionated, forward and outspoken when things are dire and at stake.
Sora's mother wants her to act more like "the daughter of an ie-moto", more feminine, less out of line - at least, that is the message that reaches Sora, since her mother asks her to quit her beloved football. Her polite and aloof attitude appears to be rather cold and dismissive to Sora, which is basically what makes her rebel against the whole flower arrangement business. She feels unloved and misunderstood, as if she cannot be appreciated if she isn't "perfect" in her mother's eyes. Thus she is unable to understand that her mother may just worry about her hurting her injured leg even more. Furthermore, Sora has a very poor grasp on the fact that she herself is acting towards her friends and partner in the exact same way, albeit in a more gentle way most of the time.
Koushirou's mother wants him to be more selfish, to tell her what he dislikes and what bothers him, to stop being perfect at all times - but that is exactly what he physically cannot do, as he himself is doubting his whereabouts and simply tries to just shove all doubts and worries aside. Instead of acting "normal", he is hiding behind that barrier and mask of perfection towards his parents - and has to realize that this attitude is worrying them even more.
In the end, it all gets (mostly) resolved through them realizing that they're still loved regardless of what happened; they don't necessarily HAVE TO change, but it is up to them whether they want to or not. Meaning, their respective arcs of self-discovery have not ended yet, but the foundation for better relationships has been established here. Sora will start playing tennis (a.k.a changing her hobby) in an attempt to move towards her mother more, choosing to do so for her own sake. Koushirou will try to act more open and casual towards his parents, even though he is actively being reassured that his hobby (being into computers) is exactly what he is all about and that he doesn't have to change that.

Koushiro Week 2022 - Day 1: Tentomon

Title: Longing
Characters: Koushiro Izumi, Kae Izumi, Tentomon, Mimi Tachikawa and Megumi Izumi (OC), with short appearences of Agumon, Gabumon and Piyomon.
Summary: Five moments between Koushiro and Tentomon throughout the years.
Note: The scene were Koushiro manages to bring Gabumon, Piyomon and Agumon back has sequels on Oretachi (last scene, written for Yamato's week) and You And Me (also last scene, written for Sora's week). In case you want to read them: Part 2 | Part 3
Everything seemed so... empty. I didn’t think it was possible to feel such thing until I went through it. I knew my adventures with the other seven children would be over eventually, but all I wanted was to be able to go back to the Digital World and see Tentomon again.
“Koushiro?” My mother knocked on my door gently. “Are you awake?”
“Yes, mom.” I replied, still lying down on my bed. “Come in.”
“How are you feeling, sweetie?” She spoke softly as she walked inside my bedroom.
“I miss Tentomon and the Digital World.” I admitted, looking at her and giving her a small smile. “But I’ll be fine, I promise.”
“I wish there was a way to make things less painful for you.” She sat on my bed. “I’m very sorry you had to say goodbye to each other. I know how much he means to you.”
“I keep expecting him to come flying from the window, but I know he won’t.”
“Aww, darling.” My mother sat closer to me and put her arms around me. “Wherever he is, I know he’s thinking of you. I’m sure it’s just a matter of time before you are reunited again.”
“You think so?”
“Of course. Such a good friendship can’t get lost like this. Everyone could see the strong connection you two had. That’s very rare and should be cherished.”
“So you don’t think it’s strange to be friends with a virtual animal?”
“Not at all.” She looked at me. “He’s not just a virtual animal to you. He’s a very dear friend and I’m very glad you found him.”
“Mom.” I said in a tearful tone. “This means a lot coming from you.”
“I have to admit I miss him too. I never got the chance to thank him for taking care of you and everything he did to you.”
“Everything he did to me?”
“You may not have noticed, but you’re a different boy now. It’s a positive change and it makes me very happy.”
“Mom!” I threw myself into her arms and hugged her. “I’m so sorry for disappearing without telling you.”
“Disappearing? I don’t remember that.” She said in a light tone. “There’s nothing to apologize for, sweetheart. You saved the world. I should be the one thanking you. In fact, I know just exactly what we should do.”
“What?”
“Me and your father are taking you out for dinner.”
“Mom, really, you don’t have to. I don’t want you to waste money on me.”
“It’s not a waste of money, Koushiro. We’re going to celebrate and also spend some time together. And if you want, you can go to the arcade.”
“Thank you, mom.”
“No need to thank me.” She gave me a smile. “I love you so much, sweetie.”
“I love you too.”
“Dinner is ready.” She stood up and looked at me. “You don’t have to eat right now if you don’t want it. I’ll put it on the oven when we finish.”
“That’s okay.” I jumped out of my bed and walked to her, reaching out for her hand. “I’m starving, actually.”
“I’m relieved to hear that. I was thinking you weren’t eating that much and was worried about it. I bet Tentomon would be too, if he was here.”
“He most certainly would. He would keep insisting I should eat more.” I stated and then laughed.

Gender: Female
General Appearance: She has light purple hair like Shinsou’s and round, bluish green eyes closer to Izumi’s, as well as her freckles.
Personality: Upbeat and caring, Seju is rather ditzy at times, but quick thinking and intelligent nonetheless, being as observant and strategic as her mother. Her apparent nature in particular is what tends to lower people’s guards around her, which she definitely exploits to her advantage in training and out in the field alike, as well as her uncanny knack of crying on command. Hitoshi finds her antics amusing and clever more often than not.
Special Talents: Her Quirk manifests in Esper ability, being both telepathic (Shinsou’s side) and telekinetic (Izumi’s side, via Inko). The former manifests more in Brainwashing techniques based in her speaking as if the internal voice in other’s minds to make them all the more susceptible to commands and the like the more they respond to her than mindreading (she can forcibly induce Brainwashing upon her chosen target, regardless of response, but hates doing so both out of a sense of morality and due to how taxing the effect can be to maintain and take hold should the target actively fight it). She’s a lot more comfortable and confident in her telekinetic abilities (and has verbalized her preference and reasons why, unintentionally upsetting Hitoshi a bit with her view), though overusing either can take an equally serious physical toll on her.
Who they like better: She loves both her parents equally, but likes to pretend it’s Hitoshi simply because of Izumi’s comically shocked reactions each and every time.
Who they take after more: Tends to take after Izumi more, both in personality and in appearance.
Personal Headcanon: Her aversion to the Brainwashing capability of her Quirk has unintentionally caused some hurt to her father, even if she doesn’t wholly realize it at times until it’s pointed out or it Clicks for her in seeing his face. She’s working on trying to get over her bias, but she’s still rather terrified of it. Especially since in her case, the Brainwashing doesn’t necessarily need a verbal response to activate. She fears strong emotions of want would trigger it in whoever she’d ask something of or even talk to, making them carry out or give her whatever she wants. She dislikes the possibility of accidental misuse greatly, and thus tries to keep a careful handle on her telepathic abilities.

My Commentary:
Like, some of the obvious POP culture references / in-jokes some of the other ‘outfits’ had aside, most of these outfits actually looked quite reasonable (and comfy, imo!! - which is pretty much the point I think Koushiro was going for?!??) and I could easily see Koushiro wearing some/most any of these canonically at various points of Koushiro’s tri. and post-tri. teen-aged lifetime, even just purely for fun.
Heck, I’ve seen fan-artists (including on the J.P.N end and even in / using specifically their Tri-esque designs / outfits)
draw Koushiro in MULTIPLE outfits like this!

Also, the kimono choice is, like, fine? Koushiro’s Japanes---?

OK but Mainly I want to know which animator/Clothing Designer (as I’ve seen exist from some Tri and etc. Staff listings) specifically was involved in this specific segment / outfit set because they were clearly having a BLAST designing Koushiro like 20+ random outfits and honestly, as a Koushiro fan who has supported Koushiro since finding this series in my childhood

@izumikoushiroweek: Day 4 - What is something you wish we saw happen for Koushirou in canon?
One of my favourite pet peeves is that I really NEED to see Koushirou confiding in others about personal issues, including opening up to his friends about being adopted. While I could imagine several scenarios in which he would confess to different friends (groups) at different stages of his life, I love the idea that somewhen around or after 02, he would actually grow confident enough to at least try and address it. To quote Tentomon again: "If you can speak your feelings, they will understand."
Taichi and Sora are my preferred options here, especially when the subject of mothers is concerned - imagine Yamato being there too, he just didn't fit into the frame -, so the topic would almost come up naturally. He feels safe around them and even if getting to the point may lead to some misunderstandings (that hopefully won't end up killing Taichi), it's the intentions that matter. Because why would Kae Izumi start crying if they told her that she was a great mother to her son? Because it would mean the world to her.
In the end, they will have a proper heart-to-heart and I genuinely cannot imagine any of the Chosen Children not reacting with utmost sympathy towards him.
(A/N: Taichi would absolutely tell this to Kae's face. You'll see...)
