i love taking advantage of my art uni's massive (MASSIVE) scanners for literally anything i can. it's got the most gorgeous grit and scan banding that photoshop trickery cant replicate (though i try lol). so, yes, i literally printed out the b&w flyers, scanned them in, then added color and printed them again to stick on my wall haha.

when digitally adding color, i wanted it to really feel like black ink on colored paper instead of trying to print on color paper and then scan it again (i have done this before idk). i think the xerox-y look is pretty convincing! the green, pink, and purple are my personal favs.

an irl friend suggest i try non-black-ink versions to see what i liked. i think they look cool but some of the text gets a bit lost. still, i like the pale yellow+red ink one. (this almost makes me want to try riso printing this to see what it'd look like 👀👀).

^ this is what the white horse metal barrier edit looked like before I added the Huji Cam filter lol. it wasn't feeling convincing enough like this, so i actually took a photo of my laptop screen with the filter and somehow that looked more real than the actual shot from the show lol. (also, because i've stared at this screenshot for so long, the orange/yellow June 12th poster? is everything on it a reference?? loll)

We believe in blatant favouritism in this household, so I will just keep turning most of my Tem portrait practices into Rex until seriously motivated otherwise

we need to see Rex's outright refusal to forgive Anakin for the carnage and trauma he caused the galaxy and the clones juxtaposed to Ahsoka's acceptance of the good in him living on in her

because while Ahsoka needed to make peace with Anakin and what he became to continue on in her journey...

Rex does not. Rex deserves to know the truth so he can realize that HE was the hero in his own story. HE was the one trying to save the galaxy from evil. and that Anakin is no longer deserving of the reverence and loyalty that Rex always gives him to this day. Rex and his brothers gave everything, including their lives, for the good of the galaxy and they do not owe Anakin any ounce of gratitude anymore.

I just want to see Rex turn his back on him because he knows loyalty is EARNED not given and that you can/should revoke your support of someone when they no longer stand for what you believe in.

I am thinking thoughts about airports and flying again. And Dreamling, of course.

So. Human AU. History professor Hob has to fly around a lot for work, perhaps for conferences or smth of the sort so it's always to a small handful of the same nearby cities. He's pretty neutral on the idea of flying in general, though he wishes it was a bit more environmentally friendly, but Hob is a sucker for a nice airport and especially a nice airport lounge during layovers or before boarding.

Hob has begun to frequent a small local airline (White Horse Air, the logo is a coat of arms with a little pegasus, wyvern, and hippogriff on it, haha) when traveling because he likes their service (they've never lost his bags, not even once!) and their flights are never fully booked, which makes them quieter and easier for hob's chronic pains. He always picks seats with no one next to him so he can sprawl out and so it's easier on his knees.

Until, one day, he boards the little plane and there's someone in the seat next to his. Hob's sure that when he booked his seat, the other one was empty. Oh well, whatever, Hob's not going to bother the other man already sitting there for one flight— he'll just have to be a little more mindful booking next time. Hob shuffles into the seat, and notices that the stranger sat beside him is reading Sir Thomas Malory's Le Morte d'Arthur! Hob gets excited because! That's a William Caxton publication! And Hob has so much to say about Caxton! He turns to the stranger to strike up conversation about it and... is immediately lost at how pretty the stranger is. Handsome, gorgeous, yes of course, but pretty, with the shell pink lips and focused blue eyes and slight frown at the book in his hands. Hob picks up his metaphorical jaw off the metaphorical ground and strikes up conversation with the stranger. Though the other man starts off apprehensive, somehow the two hours of flying fly by and the two of them end up talking about all sorts of art, history, and everything in between. Hob learns that the stranger works in publishing, thus his interest in Caxton.

Their flight lands, and the two of them disembark at the gate, still attempting to continue their conversation while Hob tries to wrangle his carry-on bags. (The Stranger only has a small laptop bag on one shoulder and a suit jacket folded over his other arm with him.) Then Hob has to check the time and begrudgingly says that he should probably head towards his next gate soon— this is just a layover after all. The Stranger looks ever so slightly disappointed and admits that this is his actual destination and he needs to meet his sister soon. They part ways, and Hob tries to dwell on the strange warmth in his chest. He thinks about the Stranger for his entire work trip afterwards.

This, somehow, happens a couple times. Turns out they both frequent White Horse Air, and though they're never in booked seats next to each other again, the flights are always empty enough that they can shift to sit next to each other once the plane's in the air. They chat the flight away, and then part ways once they disembark, with the Stranger headed to the baggage claim and Hob to his next flight. One time, the Stranger even requests the hostess to bring out a special bottle of Chateau Lafitte 1828 just for the two of them to share. Hob's in awe. He really enjoys their conversations, it's nice to be able to talk about his interests in a non-academia environment. The Stranger always has the most intriguing and eye-opening perspectives on everything, too. It doesn't really help that Hob thinks... maybe he's developing a tiny, teeny, really inconsequential really crush on his Stranger. He's not in grade school anymore, how does he feel like this about someone he doesn't even know the name of yet!

This all comes to a head when Hob mentions to the Stranger that his layover is a bit longer than it usually is, and if the Stranger is in no rush, they can continue their conversation in one of the airport's lounges. White Horse Air is a bit too small an airline to have their own lounge, but Hob's collected enough miles to get into one of the other airline lounges and is fully willing to pay to get in one if it means more time with his Stranger.

The Stranger is extremely enthusiastic about the idea— which shows up physically as a subtle, coy upturning at the corner of his mouth and a little sparkle in his eye. (Hob feels proud that he can read this reaction so well.) He's so enthusiastic, in fact, that the Stranger offers to get them both into a first-class lounge. Hob doesn't even pretend to hesitate to say yes.

Let's just say they get to the lounge, split some cheese and wine, and the proceed to get even more enthusiastic with each other in a private room. Hob's lucky he brought a change of clothes in his carry-on. (Maybe Hob's not so lucky and can't sit comfortably during his next three-hour flight.)

Hob gets a bit emotional when he has to leave for his next flight (already missing being able to hold his Stranger's face so gently, being able to card his fingers through his soft, smokey hair) and gets his guts together to ask if the Stranger wants to exchange phone numbers or something, so they can be in contact more regularly. Perhaps even, meet on purpose maybe? The Stranger smiles and kisses him lightly on the cheek when he slips a business card into Hob's hand.

Hob's so caught up in it all that he doesn't check the business card until he's fully boarded and sat on his next flight. And he gawks.

Morpheus Aion The Dreaming Publishing House

As in, one of White Horse Air's biggest shareholders? Aion, as in, probably the sibling of Teleute Aion? As in, Teleute Aion, the CEO of White Horse Air?! Hob almost passes out.

In the end, Morpheus and Hob laugh it out. Morpheus promises he never abused his sibling privileges to invade Hob's privacy, but used the sibling perks to frequent White Horse Air flights a little more than he even needed to just for the chance to see Hob again. They're both happy to not need to keep flying just for that chance anymore, haha. Idiots in love! Turns out, while Teleute lives where Hob keeps having his layovers, Morpheus and Hob actually live just a few hours driving from each other from their shared initial departure location. It all works out perfectly, and Morpheus self-restraint from inviting Hob to move in (so they don't have to keep travelling to see each other, no matter how small) lasts not even a year after they officially start dating. Hob doesn't even pretend to hesitate to say yes :)

(Years down the line, much after they're married, Hob finally has enough miles to get them back into those first-class lounges to have more fun. It's all very lovely.)

it's been a year since kazuki takahashi's passing. even the smallest of his creations could touch the hearts of many. i'm forever grateful for the impact his work has had on my life. rest in peace, i hope we can meet someday.

I know the show probably won’t do it but it would be nice to see rex struggling with the prosthetic hand they give him (you see it in the s2pt2 trailer)

a long rant from the perspective of a person who’s parents are physical therapists:

the healing process from any amputation is long, arduous and traumatic all around. Also most amputees don’t wear their prosthetics (if they have one) 24/7

Hands are one of the most complex systems in your body they are made up of 27 bones total including the wrist! They’re full of so many tendons, small muscles and nerve endings which is why hand injuries tend to hurt that much more and as someone healing from a bad finger injury rn it takes time and patience to heal from

I know the invincible show verse has much more advanced tech and I don’t doubt they have advanced prosthetic technology at hand (accidental pun) but going off of the most advanced prosthetic hand tech we have available now it involves connecting nerves to electrodes that are on the outside of the left over arm stump via surgery. Then the patient has to work slowly with A LOT of physical therapy to rebuild these new connections to use this new hand. To even just make a fist!

I don’t expect the show to go into the depths of this whole process and the intricacies of physical therapy work with amputees but I would at least like to see rex struggle a bit. To fuck up when he tries to first use it! to just be frustrated at how hard this is! He’s been through so much in his past and now he has to get used to a fake hand? It could provide good character depth and show a bit of the real life struggles amputees deal with especially since the show has gone much more in-depth on the emotional, physical and mental effects of trauma.

Not gonna spoil who but rex is not gonna be the only amputee we see in this series and I hope the show handles a certain female character’s injury better than the comic did! That’s all bye bye!

So anyway came up with the theory that i don't want to be true but won't leave me alone that the Operative is Cody. Because he survived and seemed significant and we never saw his face but we know he's a clone.

And the last we saw of Cody he was going to defect and you'd think he'd have found his way to Rex by now if he did. And if the Empire found a clone commander defecting they would have done exactly what they tried to do with Crosshair--turn him into an operative and wipe his identity

I felt inspired to draw a goth Circe design because I didn’t really get why people called her a goth and then I had so much fun that I came up with my own Circe design.

1 + 2) Dreamling-ish! (Hob & Daniel) Started Oct 2022 and I'm STILL trying to figure out the lineart. Trying to make it a bit surreal/abstract, a borderless comic where each panel connects to each other. My first time drawing Hob, and without a reference bc I was being dumb, so I think i still need to go back and tweak things a bit. Def going to finish it one day though.

3) Dreamling doodle that I've lost the context for. Really like it though!

4) Mini comic of Morpheus and Lucienne that I wanted to use to promo the Into the Dreaming zine! Thought it was cute but a bit convoluted as zine promo :(

5) Right I really struggle to chibi-fy my art style and wanted to doodle some dreaming folk and endless siblings. Didn't really go anywhere but fun!

6) Drawing Morpheus in fleshtone feels a little strange so this was an excuse to make him look distinctly different from any other time I've drawn him + motivation for the strangest finals week I've ever gone through in my life.

7) Bonus! The first Dreamling art I ever did and never finished, and probably the first Sandman art I did, under the cut because it's so noodle-y lol:

Anyways we got a Hades/Persephone AU, a regency AU, a piracy AU, and a canon AU with padawan!Obi meeting rex on Kamino. I wish I coulda fit in more aus and maybe done a full turnaround lol gotta respect gif limitations though. This wasn’t that large a size in the end so maybe I can push it further next time.

Emmet: Everyone is special in their own way

it took a little over a month to do but IT'S FINALLY COMPLETE!!

this color wheel challenge was super fun to do, especially since i had been so creatively stagnant for many months. and i got to draw some guys i either never have or hadn't done in a long time! it was such a good time, and i'm thankful for my friends for their help with suggestions - there were so many that sounded cool that i'm desperate to do at least one more round on my own!

i'm so happy to see this finished and looking so nice. you can probably tell when i was sick and when i wasn't lol but overall i'm still really happy with how it turned out :3

im certain the rex in s2 ep1 is the shapesmith, because to me his voice sounded very different. and his mannerisms seemed off too, like he was goofy in a way that wasn't him. at first i was worried they changed his voice actor. also kinda sad IMO that no one else on the team noticed something was off

big fan of a character being replaced and no one knew what was up. the potential for "i should've known" and "i'm sorry i didn't realize it sooner". the moment the character was replaced goes "you guys never really knew me, it's not your fault".

but i don't think rex was replaced.

he was goofy, check. but he was also still his jerky, antagonistic self. and i don't really get that jerky or antagonistic vibe from shapesmith in the trailer, he felt more of a goofy and silly dude that might be a lil over his head with the hero gig but he's enthusiastic and trying.

another thing to consider from the trailer was shapesmith's line: "i call me... the shapesmith." shapesmith's sentence structure is different, which is understandable cause he's an alien and adjusting. so i'm convinced rex is still himself in the first ep.
