𖤐 If you suffer from imposter syndrome, or ever feel like you aren’t nice and don’t deserve friends, I hope you understand that’s not true.
You aren’t manipulating your friends into thinking you’re okay and then randomly showing them all your flaws, that’s not manipulation that’s trust. When you first meet anyone, you shouldn’t automatically tell them all your problems, you build friendships first and earn eachothers vulnerability.
Your mental health should be treated as a priority, for YOU but not for your friends. If you happen to be the mom friend, then you’re probably familiar with dealing with friendships that end because you didn’t feel heard or supported the same way you supported someone else.
I wanna say that while those feelings are valid, you aren’t always the victim. Never venting or establishing how they can support you in the ways necessary, or your love languages, and never showing anything less than strong, leads them to be unequipped to help you.
Instead, try processing what you feel then asking for what you need. (Ex: If my goldfish died, I’d be sad. I’d process those feelings alone and ask my friends for distractions or encouragement. This way, they support you and show up while I deal with my problems.) This also cuts the “manipulation” feelings out of the picture early and sets the precedent for what expectations might be amongst you.
I’d recommend that everyone try it once, and if you need help processing what you feel try talking to yourself! Ask yourself “what’s wrong” as if you were talking to a kid and you were an adult. I know it sounds silly, but we’re often nicer to kids than ourselves when we are big kids. 𖤐
Anyways, that’s todays potd!

1️⃣ Loving deeply. No one should make you feel bad for how you feel and how you love.
2️⃣ Moving on when it’s not working. Listen, you gave it your all. If it ain’t working, go find something that is working for you. You don’t owe anyone suffering. Put yourself and interest first.
3️⃣ Saying NO! If you don’t feel it, if you don’t want to, if you can’t, if you don’t have the energy or capacity for it, SAY NO! and it’s ok to do so.
4️⃣ Setting Boundaries. Boundaries are important especially in a relationship. Set them with ease. They keep you sane 😅
5️⃣ Asking for what you want. You have every right to ask for what you want or need in and from the relationship.
6️⃣ Imperfections. No one should make you feel bad for your imperfections. No one is perfect and you shouldn’t be expected to be.
7️⃣ Your partners Actions. Those are his/hers. You shouldn’t feel guilty for anyone else’s actions other than your own.

What do you think of when you hear “couples therapy”? For many of us, it’s “divorce”. Couples therapy has a reputation for being a “last ditch effort” for relationships on the brink of breakup. But it can be a really effective strategy for laying the foundation for a solid long term partnership, giving couples the tools they need to weather any storms.  The goal of couples therapy is rather…

On episode 130 of @americansexpodcast, @AidaManduley introduces us to attachment theory and explains how it impacts our daily lives. It turns out the way we connect in adult relationships is influenced by how we related to our caregivers as kids. Find out which best describes you–secure, anxious, avoidant, fearful? Aida also adapts attachment theory to polyamorous relationships, tells us how attachment styles affect the way we express ourselves sexually, how they impact our relationships in quarantine, and how BDSM roleplay can be used to explore our styles. Aida also gives us specific exercises we can do to help us relate to our partners better and overcome obstacles influenced by our attachment styles.⁣ SWIPE FOR CLIPS ---> ⁣ Get it here (link in bio): http://sunnymegatron.com/attachement-styles-aida-manduley/⁣ ⁣ Or find it on Pandora, Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcasts. ⁣Please subscribe so you never miss an episode! itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/american-sex/id1269884261?mt=2 ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣⁣ ⁣ p.s.
