I have been going over the seasons looking for all the evidence of the whole epic primary color theory connected to El, Mike and Will. And ngl this moment right here had me spiralling.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
THE SAD PAUSE UPON THE REALIZATION WILL IS STILL MISSING AND THAT EVEN THOUGH HE HELPED THIS GIRL WHO WAS LOST IN THE WOODS AND HOPED IT WAS A SIGN, IT PROBABLY DOESN'T MEAN ANYTHING. WHICH MEANS HE'S STILL FOCUSED ON FINDING WILL. LIKE WHY DID HE NEED TO TAKE THAT YELLOW CLIP WITH HIM UPSTAIRS?!?!? WHAT WAS THE REASON? WHY IS THE MF RAINBOW IN FRAME?!?! SOMETHING SOMETHING TOO MUCH YELLOW

Willel twins, Twelvegate, Byler + labyrinths
The first thing we see in the lab: the twins, Twelve with two boxes of crayons, a labyrinth and a yellow box, Will's color
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Five and Seven (12) Willel colors, red and yellow, and the labyrinth
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Robin and Steve, our twins Tweedledee and Tweedledum, talk about Steve's labyrinth-esque love life (thank you Jo for remembering this one) Also, more yellow
Tumblr media
Mike has two posters of Escher's works in his room. Hand with reflecting Sphere, and Relativity, the famous lithograph of a series of staircases crisscross in a labyrinth-like interior that inspired the iconic scene in Labyrinth. Mike has just read El's letter, where she mentions Will liking a girl (he's not happy about it, at all) and her being twice as happy now. We know it's a lie, but I wanted to mention it because it's a parallel with the Halfway happy line in S2, when she only had Hopper. Now that she has Will she says that she's twice as happy (and they show him when she says that) Twin imagery.

Thirteen looks a lot like young El, and this is El's POV

El, labyrinth + the twins

There are also labyrinths/mirrors (?) in 2x07. Kayla noticed that So long and thanks is the famous line from The Hitchhicker's guide to the galaxy, published on October 12, 1979. So there's definitely a connection with the massacre (also, 12)
I'm so curious about Kali's role in all this. Her smirk and the "blood"...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
This also reminds me of the fun house in S3
Tumblr media
Let me know If you remember other mentions of labyrinths!

idk the full meaning yet but it’s interesting that we get two upside-down glad wrap/plastic wrap  boxes RIGHT in front of mike’s face in early s4. and i made another post about how this ties into mike getting vecna’d (the 100 on the upside-down boxes looks like 001/vecna’s number), but i also think it’s interesting that both boxes have a willel/byler/independent el colour scheme (red being el’s previous colour, white being her indepdent colour, and yellow and blue being byler). The top box has willel with independent el, the bottom box has red with white writing + then blue and yellow writing on it.
Tumblr media
and then later, we see a blue and yellow/byler coloured, upside-down waxtex box positioned over El.
Tumblr media
idk what this means yet but hmmm

GLADIOLUS
A Willel ficlet
It’s late one night when El comes into Will’s room after a nightmare, it’s routine by now after a few years of living together as siblings. She’s laying in his bed, the warm light from his bedside lamp illuminating the room in a soft glow.
He doesn’t shut it off, he knows it helps her just as it does him.
The room is silent as he waits for her to speak first, if she wants to. He is no stranger to silent nights following nightmares, taking comfort only in the others presence. A sign that they are still here, that they won the war waged against them from the midst of their childhood, despite how it bled into their adolescence.
She runs a trembling finger across her wrist, her breath shakes with each inhale.
“I wish it would wash away.” Her voice shakes too, her words bitter to hear, he’s sure they’re even bitter to the taste.
His eyes land on the two black marks on her wrist, just an inch south of her palm. A cruel reminder of all she’s been through, a sick mark of trauma that has just barely faded with time.
“I hate it.” Her voice is softer now, her eyes drifting from her wrist to meet his. “I hate it, Will.”
He understands. He understands in the same way Jonathan understands, how Max understands, Nancy and Dustin.
Physical marks left on them. His scar on his hip from his possession, Nancy and Jonathan’s scars on their palms from cutting them to lure the Demogorgon, Max’s loss of vision and the slow of her mobility, Dustin’s limp from his leg never healing quite right.
The scars fade over time, sure, but hurt like an open wound at the slightest glance. They serve as a reminder of what was taken from them, stolen from their tiny grips like they ever stood a chance. Cruelty branded, a permanent mark everlasting on their bodies. On their minds.
His eyes drop to her wrist, his hand cupping hers gently as he runs a finger along the dark marks on her pale skin.
“Maybe, when you’re eighteen, you can get it covered up.” He says, looking up to see her eyebrows furrowed in confusion. Her head is cocked to the side.
“Covered up? I can do that?” She looks down at her wrist, her eyes a little brighter now. “With more tattoos?”
“Sure, if that’s what you want.” He traces along the numbers again. “Would you?”
She smiles, a gentle yet genuine smile pulling at her cheeks. She nods. “But what would it be?”
“Anything you want.” Will adjusts in the bed, his blanket falling completely into his lap and pooling around his legs. “Something you find meaningful or, if you want, just something you think looks nice. Something you like.”
She thinks for a moment, silence stretching on as she stares at the mark on her skin. Her smile only widens as the seconds tick by. He knows that look, the sparkle in her eye shining iridescent in the low lighting of his bedroom.
“A flower?” El glanced up at him. “I like flowers.”
“Hold on.” He smiles, getting up from the bed and making his way over to his bookshelf. He searches for a moment, producing an old cloth-bound hardcover book, the golden accents shimmering in the dim lighting of his lamp, the title ‘The Language and Poetry Of Flowers’ glittering. “Did you know flowers can have meaning? Like, symbolization of different things.”
“Really?” His sister perks up then, craning her neck to see the book as he flips over the cover and carefully leafed through the pages. His eyes skim through the words as he glances up, nodding with a small smile.
“Really.” He stops at the page he was looking for, grinning a bit to himself. “Mom loved picking flowers from the meadow when she was little. Hawkins gets some pretty diverse kinds of wildflowers, so my grandma got her this book so she could learn what they meant. These ones were always her favorite, but they’re native to South Africa, so she only ever saw them through her book.”
He turns the book towards her, the page showing a mix of pink and red and yellow flowers. She stares in awe.
“Gladiolus?” She breathes, a gentle hand caressing the page.
“It’s Latin for sword,” He leans closer, his finger pointing out the text below the picture. “Some people believe Gladiators from Ancient Rome wore them as protection. But it’s also means strength and courage, to overcome. Just like you always do.”
“I love it.” El sniffs a little, her eyes wetter than they had been before. “It’s perfect, Will.”
He smiles, reaching over to his nightstand and ripping out a page from his sketchbook before marking the page and handing the book to her. “Here, so you have a reference when you decide to get it.”
“Could…” El chews on her lip, her fingers fidgeting with the corners of the book. “Could you draw it for me one day? I want it to be from you, if that’s okay.”
Her words twisted into his chest, squeezing around his heart like a warm hug. His face broke into a smile.
“Of course,” He says, taking the book back from her outstretched hands. “I’d love to.”
She smiles at him, laying back in the bed with an expression of serenity. Her hand fell from her wrist for the first time that night and suddenly, it felt like everything would be okay again.

I love this scene for many reasons. Hopper is finally free and he’s so happy to be with Joyce that he’s crying. Now they can finally kiss and be honest about their feelings. And of course, this big Jopper moment, when they’re about to make out, has big Willel-twin imagery.
Yellow and red, Willel colors. Also, in S4 we see El's S1 big yellow t-shirt again. The only flashback during Mike's monologue
Tumblr media
Hopper mentioning Chianti* and saying that he dreamed of Enzo’s food and that he’s getting Two orders of bread sticks. Two. Like, let’s be clear about how many bread sticks he wants, lol.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Then, when they start kissing, the red phone rings. News about their kids. And in the next scene, Joyce and Hopper wear the same outfits, like twins.
Tumblr media
*I love that they mention Chianti. A reference to this very interesting scene in 3x03.
Joyce is Diane (Hopper’s wife)
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
She used to watch that sitcom (Cheers) with Bob, and she remembers he said this: “They’re funny. I just wished they’d get back together again already.” (Joyce: Me too)
Not I hope they get together. Get back together again. This line implies that Joyce and Hopper were a couple in the past. But I doubt it just means that they dated when they were teenagers and then broke up. Imo, it means that in the og timeline they were married. And since Hopper and Diane had a child, I think Hopper and Joyce had kids too.

AU concept:
If anyone wants to use this as inspiration for drawing, a comic, a fic, literally anything, feel free to. Take creative liberty wherever you want, but tag me so I can see it because I'm insane about it :)
It's a platonic madwheeler speedster AU. Set in the DCU.
Lots of madwheeler siblingism, Mike is an idiot and Max is an instigator. They get their powers because Mike is doing something stupid involving electricity and Max is enabling him at the time of the particle accelerator explosion. Because they're at the same place at the same time, they end up being affected in the same way, and therefore both become speedsters.
So here's the general stuff:
Max is Zoomer (kind of a given) (not to be confused with Zoom), her suit is red with green accents, her lightning is white
Mike is Zipper (Zip for short) (credit to @piper-yipee for the name), his suit is blue with yellow accents, his lightning is green (yes this is entirely for byler reasons)
(I know that lightning colors have different causes in DC canon, but for this AU that is not the case, I'm just choosing lighting colors based on what I want. Cope.)
Zipper and Zoomer I mean COME ON IT'S PERFECT
Established lumax
Slow burn byler because I said so
Once they discover they have powers they go a little crazy about it and Mike immediately wants to be a superhero while Max tries to stay levelheaded about it and reason with Mike that he doesn't know the first thing about being a superhero. Mike ultimately concedes that he doesn't know the first thing about being a superhero and he shouldn't just jump into something like that.
Something happens, whether it be an accident or a crime doesn't really matter, but Mike and Max are there when it happens. Even though they decided that neither of them were gonna jump into anything, they can't stand by and let people get hurt when they know they could do something about it. So they save the day.
After that they decide that they wanna use their powers for good but that they need to be smart about it
They decide to tell Dustin about their powers. He's a super smart science guy and he makes suits for them and has the time of his life learning about the speed force
They decide that they are NOT telling Lucas and Will (they're gonna find out eventually though)
Other stuff:
Will, El, and Lucas are also metahumans, but their powers manifest at a later date.
Will: dimensional awareness (like Vibe), erebokinesis (the power to generate or manipulate darkness or shadows), heliokinesis (the power to bend and control sunlight)
El: I don't have a specific preference, but anything similar to her canon powers would be interesting
Lucas: I also don't have a specific preference for him, I just think there's not nearly enough superhero Lucas content and I need more. Maybe vibrokinesis?
Willel siblings obviously
Once Will learns about Mike and Max's superhero activities, he insists on helping Dustin design better suits for them, because although they may be functional they could look so much better and Will is an artist so
The superhero squad is called The Party because obviously
That's all I got for now, I think, I'll probably edit this post as I think of more stuff. HOWEVER! I do know how Will learns about his powers and Mike being Zipper. This is heavily based on how Cisco discovers his powers in CWs The Flash.
So, Will ends up being in the wrong place at the wrong time while Zip and Zoomer are fighting some villain. Mike isn't fast enough and he isn't able to save him, Will dies. (They're very much in love at this point but neither of them has confessed). Mike obviously loses it. He's holding Will in his arms and the only thing running through his mind is some theory Dustin had about the speed force and time travel. He doesn't even think about it he just starts running. He ends up two days in the past and manages to prevent Will's death. He intends to take this to his grave, no one knows. Not even Max or Dustin. But then Will starts having flashbacks to the timeline where he died. He keeps reliving his death, and every time he sees Zipper, mask off, so really he sees Mike, begging him to just hold on. And maybe even telling Will that he loves him. And Will feels like he's going crazy. One day he can't take it anymore and he tells Mike about it, and Mike ends up coming clean about everything because he's tired of lying to Will. Will doesn't really know how to feel about it, he tells Mike he needs some space to process it. He's not mad at Mike, he's just really confused and overwhelmed and he feels slightly betrayed because Mike kept his whole superhero life from him for as long as he did. Obviously they work things out in the end and Will joins the superhero squad.
That's all for now folks

Who’s Spying?
I believe that something that is decidedly not Vecna has been watching over Mike since before the events of season one even fully kicks off. We don’t see Vecna really start stalking people until season four. We see Mike from some very odd angles far before that. It’s almost like we peer in at him. We don’t do this nearly as often, if at all, with other characters. Even if others are shown under framing that implies stalking. It’s not to the extent that Mike is.
Tumblr media
(more stalking shots)
So, who do I think is spying? The mind flayer who, for the purpose of this post, I will be referring to as the “shadow”. Mike’s understanding of the shadow is very unsettling under this perspective, but I digress. @boysdontcryboycry pointed out that Mike’s name only appears in the second episode summary of a season, if it appears at all and so far it has appeared three times, mysteriously absent in the season three summary. They also noted that his appearance with different groups totaled to seven and all that I could think of was the relationship between seven and demogorgons. There is also the fact that we are introduced to the shadow as the second villain in the series after the Demogorgon.
In season two the main villain is the shadow, and this is the same for season three. In season one all signs are pointing to Vecna and we know in season four that Vecna is the big bad. This to me implies that Mike is opposite of the shadow and that while Willel are off fighting and defeating Vecna, Mike will have to deal with the eldritch monster that might have been spying on him. Additionally, so many important numbers make their first appearance in the Wheeler house: 8:15, the moment Karen calls off the game, 20, which we hear repeated a few times and is what will be needed to win, a campaign that took 2 weeks to plan and stopping breaks the flow. Vecna not being able to continue back-to-back once he’s been foiled.
There’s also 10 hours and two 10s make a 20. We learn that the shadow intends to utilize Will to spy- on what exactly? What is the shadow so interested in that it needs to be close to in order to understand? The shadow is capable of moving across plains so what does it need Will for? Perhaps to spy on Mike? The shadow was content staying in place and being dormant until the soldiers burned it as well. It knows Mike’s name and nobody else’s.
Tumblr media
The hivemind tries to grab Mike specifically.
Tumblr media
This honestly makes the hub reference that much more ominous. Mike’s sensitivity to Will feeling the supernatural and Will feeling the supernatural specifically when it has to do with Mike. We have to remember that Will might be connected to Vecna, but the shadow is what possessed him and what likely continues to possess him. We learn in season three with more concrete information that the shadow can go dormant and allow the host to do as it pleases.
We also see Mike in some very odd outfits, odd in the color choices. We see him in green in every season, but four. We see him in red in season one, we see him in outfits that seem to have all the colors of the clocks in stranger things, primary colors with a green background, in them. He’s worn every color associated with the upside-down.
Tumblr media
I believe he wears blue the most frequently and red the least. Red is the color we see least associated with the Upside-down outside of brief flashes. Yellow is the color that the Upside-down was originally and blue is the color we see the Upside-down in the most.
El
I think Mike created El. Micha(el) and (El)even. Now you might be wondering, ‘if he created her what about her number’? What significance does the number 11 have to Mike? Well, it’s his birthday number. Mike’s birthday is 4/7/1971. 4 + 7 is 11 and even if you include the year and go 4 + 7 + 1 + 9 + 7 + 1 = 29, 2+9 = 11. Another reference to Eleven is the number of days Mike calls her. He calls her for 353 days. All these numbers add to 11 and right after his final call El goes on her hero origin journey.
Also, the meaning of their birth names is reflective. Michael means “gift from god” while Jane means “god is gracious”. They imply something similar. The kindness of a deity. This is also likely why there seems to be a glitch with the Ives family because Jane wasn’t supposed to exist originally instead her history is filling itself out as we go. That would be the kicker, wouldn’t it? All these parallels to Mike and different parental figures in El’s life leading up to this reveal.
There is also the word lifting that Mike does. It makes sense for him to be repeating what he heard from Will and/or Eddie, but for him to tell El that she “can move mountains” and “fly”? Where does that even come from? It’s not like he heard Brenner say it and if he had he definitely wouldn’t be repeating it. He also directly follows it up by telling her that she doesn’t have to do all that and that she just needs to survive.
My guess is that the words are his own and that Brenner and many other figures from El’s past are fabricated in a way by Mike. Afterall, Mike already thought that the lab was a place where the government made weapons due to stuff his father said. He’s probably also heard his father complain about Russians because the Wheeler’s are supposed to be all patriotic. I could see this plotline all coming from Mike as a part of some story that he’s made unconsciously being influenced by the people around him..
We also know how closely coke ties into El’s powers, but the first time we see coke is at the Wheeler house during the first DnD game next to Mike. Later we pan out and see that there is another one for Dustin. In season three we proceed to get an argument between Lucas and Mike regarding “new coke” and how Mike can’t believe that it’s good. In season four we see Karen give one of the cops a coke. Coke must be a pretty big deal in the Wheeler house.
Tumblr media
(First time we see coke behind Mike)
There is also Mike’s understanding of El’s powers to consider. This isn’t necessarily about the coma comment because that makes sense. He’s seen El overuse her powers and collapse afterwards, but how did he know B*lly could hurt her in the mind space? Mike also calls their meeting “dumb luck” which is a major red flag because the events are leaning into something very different. El being a parallel to Will, El knowing where Will is, El’s powers in combination could’ve very easily been used to save Will, El appearing in Will’s color to help the boys find Will, and Mike understanding that what El is talking about is literally another world.
There is also something else that I hadn’t considered under this context before, but Mike is the only character we ever see take off his watch and actively lend it to someone else. We only see him lend his watch to El, temporarily. You could say he’s giving her time because he puts it on the same side as the other members of the party have their watches. He wants her to meet him at 3:15 which all together is 9. Upside-down that’s 6.
Tumblr media
Someone also pointed out that the role Mike gave to El was the role of a mage, which isn’t actually a role in the 80s. Instead, a mage is a npc monster. Mike identified her this way. Contrary to giving El a npc role, Mike doesn’t actually give Max one instead she decides to identify herself a zoomer, which to quote Mike “doesn’t exist”.
In conclusion my thoughts are that Mike invented El as a way to find Will. He would’ve manipulated space and time in order to do this causing a butterfly effect.
Tumblr media
We see in the above picture that one of Mike’s identifiers that they want us to focus on is his watch. Knowing all the references to time travel I find this particularly interesting.
As for the battle Willel will be going after Vecna while Michael will come face-to-face with the shadow. I’m not sure how far this power would extend to and how much protection Mike could offer El if this turns out to be true, but I doubt he would let her go because despite what people want to say – El is a very important person to Mike.
Numbers & Appearances
This is a mini section in relation to the number of times that certain characters appear in the summary. Lucas only appears twice in summary, Mike appears three times -mysteriously missing in season three and only in the second episode-, and Max appears four times, not including her titular episode. The order of that is literally going up 2, 3, 4 without Max’s titular episode and 5 once you include Max’s titular episode. Once again taken from @boysdontcryboycry post. Max is on there twice, but I digress. What I think this means is that Lucas will by the thessalhydra and Mike will step in which leads to him getting captured and meeting Max. I believe that the end of episode four and episode five will be the time Mike and Max really meet if this theory comes true.
Mike’s vs the Thessalhydra
Mike will battle thessalhydra. In fact, he will be leading the party against the thessalhydra and Will is going to deliver the final blow, but it will have the consequence of greatly injury or maybe even killing Mike. Will’s painting shows us Mike leading the charge against the creature, but throughout the series we see multiple scenes of creatures that greatly resemble it in Will’s art and a character that looks suspiciously like Mike’s dying at the hands of it. I also believe that the dragon will be from someone being turned.
Tumblr media
In accordance with my theory, it’s likely that it will be El who is turned into a thessalhydra. Max isn’t there and all the boys are going to be fighting it meaning that El is, for whatever reason, unavailable. I believe they will save El and it will cost Mike.
There is also the final DnD game where Mike mimics dying after the thessalhydra is defeated and the painting depicting him leading the party against the thessalhydra. I believe he will be lost sometime during the battle against it.
Tumblr media
My thought process is that they will be fighting the thessalhydra first. It’s weaker than Vecna as it only requires a fourteen to be completely neutralized, but Vecna requires a twenty in order for the hit to be deemed critical.
So, I think things will go like thessalhydra -> Vecna -> shadow monster in terms of the s5 enemies. This means that what they fight on the hill will be the thessalhydra.
The Therapist
I recall a long while back that someone made a comment about the Hawkin’s High Therapist and her watch necklace. I finally have thoughts about it and what it could mean. The watch itself is shaped almost very key-like as if saying that “mental health is the key” or “mental health is the solution”.
Tumblr media
This leads me into the next stage of this theory. We only see the therapist take special interest in Max’s case. We see her call Max out and make sure that they speak. We also see something very peculiar with Max this season. She is wearing a lot of blue. Blue is a color we’ve associated with multiple things, but in particular we’ve associated them with the Upside Down, Mike, and danger.
Mike is very rarely out of blue in season four. He wears his hellfire shirt for a long period of time in the first episode. That shirt has a red face on it and it’s what he almost starts out wearing, but just before that we see him in a pure white top. We see him in pure white top again in the desert. In any case Max is heavily paralleled with Mike throughout the series and for her to be wearing colors that are normally associated with Mike while seeking therapy seems important.
In season four especially when it’s the first time we see Mike invalidate his own emotions and actively doubt his place in the lives of his friends and family. I believe this is meant to be signal that the key to solving things is for Mike to seek mental help. Plus, the green present in each meeting and Hopper the last season referring to Mike as the key with a green key in the background.
X-Men 134 Reference
So, X-Men 134. We see this comic referenced right before Will separates with Dustin. At this point we might not know the full story regarding the reference, but out of curiosity I went to search up the premise of the comic and I found some interesting parallels to the Phoenix, Jean Grey, and Mike.
Both of these characters are apart of the Hellfire Club. This club is noticeably antagonist in the comic, however. I’m not certain if that means that Mike’s feelings regarding the club are more complicated than what we see or if perhaps something else will be going down with the club.
Now Jean Grey and Mike. Jean’s name has the same meaning as El’s birth name, Jane, so I’ll spare you the details, but we already have a play on the similarity of names. Jean is associated with the Phoenix, a powerful cosmic entity. Her connection to the Phoenix lead to a great number of deaths, and resurrections. It’s also said that because the Phoenix force, the entity, felt a kinship with young Jean Grey that it kept a close eye on her.
Who have we been spying on almost from the shadows throughout the series? Mike. We keep seeking him out from behind the stairs, behind bushes, in the dark, and we see El spy on him through the void. It’s rare that we got those stalker shots in the light. I believe that this might be the connection between the shadow creature and Mike.
What I believe is Happening
I think we are quiet literally watching Mike manifest a DnD game in real life. I don’t think he manifested everything, but I do believe that a lot of what’s happening ties back to Mike and his deteriorating mental state. I believe what we are seeing is Mike’s mental state because the focus shifts quite literally depending on what Mike is focused on and what he is trying to do.
In season one he’s desperate to find Will and a girl with the perfect abilities to help them appears. She can find people across different dimensions and all she needs is tons of water plus salt. If they had never gotten the help of the adults and lab it’s possible El might’ve freed Will herself. In season two Mike’s mind is “Will, Will, Will” because he’s worried about how Will is dealing with everything.
I know we complain about Will being sidelined in season three, but who was trying to sideline him exactly? Who was pushing him away? Who was pushing Will to the back of their mind? Mike. Mike was quite literally sidelining Will. In season four we learn that he thinks of himself as just “some nerd” which would explain the sidelining off himself, and he felt like he “lost” Will. Hence both of them are on the sidelines that season.
It would also lend an interesting perspective with the fact that Mike’s feelings are constantly invalidated every season with the idea that “there are more important things” if those important things literally relate back to how he’s feeling and coping.

okay this is a bit of a crazy post lol don't take it too seriously and I think I have seen someone else already talking about this (make yourself known in the comments bc I don't remember the username sorry 😭)
but I was thinking that the color theory fits with the idea that El is red? also El likes purple I think and it makes sense with Mike being blue.... and Will being yellow of course
and we keep seeing the pattern of colors through the season of red, blue and yellow... but also white!
Also the white is "outside" and doesn't mix... meaning El being finally... indipendent?
El has been wearing a lot of white too in the end of s4 🤔
Also willel being orange would be cute lol

What do you think is the "history" between Vecna and Will leading to his kidnapping? It doesn’t seem like it was just wrong time, wrong place anymore. It doesn’t seem really believable that for no particular reason, Will had some strong and unknown powers Vecna needs to control. And all things considered, Will was a relatively happy kid: loving mom and brother, a group of loyal friends, healthy. So what could it be? I’m really curious.
Yeah that’s a great question. I think the things I just reblogged below from @willel on the colors of this other dimension that becomes known as the UD as we know it are relevant to this as background. It appears one way (yellow) when Henry first enters it, it’s always appeared red as the MF before or ig now Vecna, so Vecna seems to transform it as he does the MF particles. Then it could be it gets transformed again seemingly on Nov 6, 1983—when El opens the gate and Will disappears, leaving open the idea that either El reopening the gate transforms it into the blue UD as we know it, or Will getting taken does and he is crucial to transforming it.
But, yeah, I agree, what looks like the wrong place at the wrong time does begin to look more purposeful. Like say Vecna needed to take someone to transform the UD into a mirror copy/photo negative of Hawkins, why couldn’t he just take anyone? It’s especially interesting he decides he needs to because he’s previously said it’s a land “unspoiled” by humans which he seems to like—altho he’s the first human to enter it, and then the second one is Will, like this super innocent little kid. I don’t totally agree that Will has had a fully happy family life, altho Jonathan and Joyce tried to shield him as much from the affects of Lonnie as possible (I think Jonathan and Joyce really beared the brunt of Lonnie’s abuse).
Idk if Vecna singles Will out for his sensitivity that borders into powers? Or he sees the potential for powers within him? Has he been tracking him before the first ep of s1? Since he seems to plan in advance, does he already have the plan to possess him later and that’s why he leaves him alive? It definitely feels like he targets him, but it’s still unclear to me why—beyond he sees someone particularly vulnerable out of the party (altho remember in s1, Will gets out a gun and tries to protect himself). There are all gifsets going around showing the parallels between young Henry and Will in how they’re discussed, but they’re also obviously opposites in terms of what they do with their “sensitivity.” Either way, all of this seems like the crucial thing they want to answer in s5—the history of the UD. And Will going missing seems completely tangled up in it and crucial to why it gets frozen in time:

Something about Patrick and the parallels with Will and El.
They are at Benny's here, a place connected to El. Jason's outfit is white, like Henry's. Patrick's t-shirt is orange (Agent Orange), and there are #12 and Christmas lights behind him. All things connected to Will.
Tumblr media
Also, Jason and red and yellow lights, Willel colors, above the letters W and E!
Tumblr media
I always found strange that they ignored this poor kid and his story. We never even saw his Vecna visions, only the grandfather clock. But after my S4 rewatch, I have a theory.
Tumblr media
Patrick has many parallels with Will, and him being ignored might be one of them. Patrick is empathetic, like Will. He has a violent father, like Will. And if my theory of the car accident is correct, even his death in Lover's Lake could be a hint at Will/Willel story.
A lot of people have pointed out that they never showed his visions. But if you think about it, we don't know what Will saw in the UD either. And in S3 and S4 he's been sidelined too. So maybe that's another parallel. I actually made this connection because Patrick is the only victim whose story was never explored.
It's also interesting that the only vision they show is of the grandfather clock, at a funeral. They had a funeral for Will...
Tumblr media Tumblr media
And since Will has some big parallels with the Turtle, a character of IT and The Dark Tower series (here, one of my favorite theories) maybe the name Patrick is a reference to Patrick Danville, another character of The Dark Tower. An artist who (SPOILER) has the ability to draw pictures that become or alter reality. He draws the Unfound Door (Will and all the door and key imagery!) that allows one of the characters, Susannah, to leave Roland's world. Hmm. Patrick's death in ST opens a gate in the lake...
Patrick Danville also plays a critical role in the defeat of the Crimson King. He draws a picture of him, only to erase it from existence. The only part of the King that he can't erase are his red eyes.
Tumblr media
The chess club scene in 4x01 is foreshadowing of El and Henry playing chess in the lab. And I noticed another black boy with an orange shirt, so I rewatched the scene in 4x07.
Since the writers love to invert things in their parallels, I think this is very interesting. Imo, it's evidence that there are indeed paralles between Patrick and Will/Willel.
El, a girl with short hair, plays black. Henry, a man, longer hair, plays white (plus, the yellow, orange and red of the rainbow)
Tumblr media
In this shot, a black boy with an orange t-shirt plays white. And a girl with longer hair plays black.

and what if I told you that byler colour theory wasn’t just about the colours but also about the order in which they appear? I need to go gather evidence for it, but the pattern is constantly “blue and yellow beside eachother with red beside yellow, NOT beside blue” which tells us “byler (blue and yellow) and willel (yellow and red- platonic willel of course, they’re twins). and it’s either blue and red separated by yellow OR blue and red separated by white (which is the colour to represent El’s independence imo). plus the yellow-green-blue (byler) AND the yellow-green-red (willel and byler)
we do NOT see a “red-purple-blue” (which would present m!leven) colour scheme the same way that we see the yellow-green-blue and all the other combos I’ve listed.

More Willel and Twelvegate in S2
Old and new things I noticed.
2x02 The half way happy scene
In Hopper’s cabin there’s so much yellow and red I could post twenty screenshots. I love it, and I love that Hopper’s secret knock spells “US” (his family) But to me the most interesting thing is when he and El have breakfast. There’s a owl on the table and a bottle in front of two “little people”, a red one and a yellow one. But they’re only in this scene in S2, when El says that she’s half way happy. Only in 4x01, when she’s with Will, sheìll say that she’s twice as happy.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Same episode.
Bob shows Jon how to use the camera, a Back to the future Easter egg. When he says how to zoom in, it’s 5:42 (5+4+2=11)
Tumblr media
And when it’s 5:43 (12), he says “And double u to zoom back out.” Double u (you?) Twins?
Tumblr media
But this moment is also interesting because the Willel hint is not there when Joyce rewatches the tape. The time is different. So, different timeline? But what does it mean for Will and El? Why does the hint about them exist in one timeline but not in the other?
Tumblr media Tumblr media
2x03. In the Phineas Gage scene, that is about Will, behind Mr Clarke there’s the news about Kathryn D. Sullivan, the first American female astronaut who stepped outside her spacecraft, on October 11, 1984. Also, the two Extras?
Tumblr media
Later, Hopper and Owens mention leaks spreading into Hawkins, like Will says. They say it twice. Also, some red and yellow.
Tumblr media
2x05. I just rewatched S2 to be sure. We only see the number twelve on Bob’s car in this scene (the same sticker is on Steve’s car in S4). When Will is possessed and they’re trying to find Hopper.
Tumblr media
And I just noticed this parallel between Will and El.
Tumblr media
While Will is trying to find Hopper, El is trying to communicate with Terry, and there’s a red X on the blanket like the X on the drawing, and a lamp that looks a lot like the disco ball of the snow ball, the one at the Arcade and at Rink-o-mania. The ball represents the Mind Flayer (I made a post about it) Not a good sign.
Like the song we hear when El arrives at Terry’s house, Green green grass of home. A man dreams about coming home only to realize that his family is dead and it’s all an illusion because he is actually in prison and about to be executed. What a happy song for a reunion with “mom”. Oh, and there’s also the name Peter on the truck. And if Henry is Peter, yeah. Not a happy reunion.
