Let's think about this again...
Tumblr media
Lucas: " What is the answer?"
Tumblr media
Karen: "You sure you just want water?"
so the answer (the solution?) is water... the Mind flayer needs (wants???) water to get free from Vecna? Does drinking water kill Vecna? WHY ARE THE WRITERS SCREAMING AT US SAYING THAT WE NEED WATER????????
Tumblr media Tumblr media
H2O? Vital for all forms of life! (the mindflayer? the demogorgons? the flowers? are the flowers taking all the water from the ud to survive?)
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Water works...

Watergate pipe-smoking porn, final installment. Some great footage of Senators Fred Thompson and Howard Baker, along with lawyers Rufus Edmisten and Terry Lenzner, and a few other random spectators.

"Rosemary Wood, the former secretary to ex-president Nixon retired today on a pension of fifteen thousand dollars.
"A lot of people feel that's a lot of money, but she happens to be an excellent secretary.
"How many secretaries do you know can erase 2000 words a minute? "

what's crazy about watergate is that it totally covered up that fact that nixon was the first openly demisexual president

What is your favorite book about Nixon and/or Watergate?
Oh man, that's a tough one because there are so many great books about Watergate, as well as excellent biographies about Nixon.
This answer would be ridiculously long and I'd be including scores of books if I try to suggest more than one. So I'm just going to go with the second of Bob Woodward and Carl Bernstein's two classic books about Watergate, The Final Days (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO). That's one of those books that is just jaw-dropping when it comes to the details of Nixon's last couple of weeks in office. All the President's Men (BOOK | KINDLE | AUDIO) is also great, of course, and it's the more important book and the one that was turned into a legendary film. But The Final Days is such a stunning read the first time you pick it up that I've always thought it was the more interesting of the two books.

Hey uh guys... about Watergate. There's no water in the Upside Down. The tunnels avoided Lover's Lake and all other rivers. Erica had that line about how you need water to survive. Argyle asked Mike if his shirt was Ocean Pacific. Mike was sat in front of the Jaws poster in his heart to heart with Will. Mike jumped off the cliff in season 1 into the quarry. What if....
What if we're only assuming that the way to kill Vecna and defeat the Upside Down is though fire. What if the truth is that the Upside Down and Vecna are allergic to water. What if in season 5 Mike figures out that the only way to truly defeat the Upside Down is by drowning it out. Boiling Water, perhaps?

On This Day In History
August 5th, 1974: President Nixon is forced to release the "Smoking Gun" tape, clearly and unambiguously implicating him in the Watergate scandal.

You know my theory about the fact that maybe salt water is the solution to destroy the upside down?
Well, it's very convenient that at Hawkins middle school we have a huge water tower
Tumblr media
and DE-ICING SALT !
in season 1 they keep making references to things and people ''freezing'' and Will was freezing to death in the upside down because it's icy cold... salt is used to de-ice roads when it's too cold, right? That's why at school they have all that salt, and they used it for the pool.......

ngl, I did not realize that Oceangate was the name of the company. I thought it was just what we were calling The Incident, like Watergate, etc.

If you're a guy who's turned on by 1970s men smoking pipes, the 1973 Watergate hearings are better than porn. Senators, lawyers, reporters and businessmen, all decked out in 1973 fashion, confidently filling a room with pipe smoke like it's the most natural thing in the world. Which in those days, it was. Here's a compilation of footage from the hearings (only about a quarter of what I've found so far) set to a nice 1970s 'adult film' soundtrack. More where this came from...

TIL the sub company is actually fucking called “OceanGate,” and that’s not like, the Watergate style name we gave the incident. Holy fuck, dude. How dumb do you gotta be. Yeah this is my sub to see the Titanic, called the Titan, and I’m gonna name my company a synonym for the biggest scandal ever.
