Binderary 2023
This February, I participated in the @renegadepublishing Discord's binderary bookbinding event. For this event, I decided to bind a book for every day in February, but in order to be realistic about my time constraints, I chose to do each book as a single-section pamphlet bind! I chose 14 different fics by authors (and friends) in the Malevolent fandom and did the typesetting for them during January, then bound 2-3 copies of each fic over the course of February. Here is the final spread!
Each cover design utilizes either public domain images from sites such as rawpixel and the Noun Project or art created for the fic! It was a pleasure to work with the authors of these fics this month, along with the associated artists, and I had a wonderful time with this project. Ice Phoenix AU: a divergent Farmworld timeline where instead of the crown being blown up, the crown’s pieces are initially separated and the power is removed from Finn by mere chance. It’s also important to note that one of the crown’s crystals (the small right one more specifically) is chipped, and due to this, the magic it contributes is corrupted, thus corrupting its user, with more potency over time. It is essentially a Recrowned Ice Finn AU variation.

What if Rhaegar had been stillborn?
Lots of pressure on Rhaella to have another child, which makes Aerys’ moods worse, and the lords more nervous. Obviously, no one is making off with Lyanna, but Aerys’ behavior was worrying long before he executes brandon and his group, so it’s certainly not out of the realm of possibility that Aerys does something else that goes too far over the line. if it takes aerys and rhaella all the way until viserys to have a living son (mind you, viserys is born around the same year cat and brandon are engaged, & like two or three years before rhaega & elia are engaged, to give you a timeline comparison), i think aerys gets a lot crueler towards rhaella, and perhaps even paranoid someone is poisoning them.
meanwhile, not only are elia and rhaegar not married (bc rhaegar doesn’t exist), but this is similar to that “what if rhaegar married cersei” one, where elia is either safe at sunspear or (very likely) married to a rebel. if aerys pulls a similar stunt - maybe murdering several people at court because he suspects they’re killing rhaella’s babies - he has like 70% of the realm either united against him or perfectly willing to sit this one out. a rebel faction only has to deal with mace and the reach, and maybe tywin and the westerlands (and given there’s no rhaegar/cersei matchmaking going on, who knows how tywin is feeling about all of this, maybe he even joins the rebels sooner).
Depending on what happens is what shapes the rebellion though. Would aerys look to dorne and arianne as a match for viserys? without rhaegar acting as a buffer for his father’s worst impulses, do the lords just give up hope on the targaryens wholesale before viserys is even born, and a rebellion starts early? it’s likely any king crowned would still wind up being a baratheon, because they’re the closest cousins to the targaryens, and the only lords that have really attempted to recrown themselves are the greyjoys; on the whole, at this point in time, westeros is fairly united. makes me lean towards them gathering around a distant relation targaryen as king on the iron throne rather then using viserys as a puppet king - especially because they’d have to wait a long time to ensure viserys’ line of succession. this pretty much just leaves female lines of Rhae, Daella, and Rhaelle, aka the Baratheons, Tarth, and [source not found]. And the Martells, technically, but that’s never happening lmao.

The 7 Deadly Sins : Lust (Bob)
Bob had been home for a week now. It felt weird, even though he had only left for a short deployment, he felt like a different person and this felt like a different town. It didn’t help that tonight was the High School reunion and he had to face the fact that the people he had immortalised in his mind as perpetual teenagers had actually grown up.
He was standing by the punch bowl, nursing a plastic cup. He didn’t like punch, he didn’t really drink actually. But he didn’t know what to with his hands otherwise.
Well, he knew what he wanted to do with those hands, but those thoughts of you were better suited for the darkness of his room in the earliest hours of the morning when everyone was asleep and no one would hear him.
You were on the other side of the room with some old friends and old teachers. You looked good. Curves in all the right places, long legs and straight back. And that angelic little smile.
Bob knew he didn’t look it, but he was no stranger to one-night-stands. They were just easier in the navy. No ties and no heartbreak when they inevitably left (or died, but thinking it almost felt like a curse).
He breathed in sharply when you laughed and threw your head back. The only thing he could possibly think was you throwing your head back on a pillow, a moan escaping those perfect pink lips of yours.
Speaking of lips, there were plenty of things he could think of doing with those. He thought of you on your knees, lipstick smearing as he fucked your face.

Bob looked at the dusty thing you were holding up in front of your chest.

1. How many works do you have on AO3?

2. What's your total AO3 word count?

3. What fandoms do you write for?
Lately it's mostly been Malevolent! These characters have eaten my brain for the last two years. I am open to branching out - just waiting for something to grab me.

Pitcher Plant! I wrote it for a horror exchange and it shows.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
This is a tricky one! I write a lot of hurt/comfort, and a lot of cute snippets that can hardly be said to have an "ending." I'm going to go with Holding Onto You! A kiss and an animal companion are great elements of a happy ending.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Nope! If I were in a bigger fandom I might, LOL. Small fandoms are fun.
9. Do you write smut? If so, what kind?
Yes, and only on LoyalMonsterFan! I don't care who in the fandom sphere of the internet knows both are me anymore, but still - I feel like I can let loose a bit more on an alt account.
As for what kind, mostly body-sharing zex with some monster/human sex in there too. Fun stuff!
10. Do you write crossovers? What's the craziest one you've written?
I've only ever written one crossover, Malevolent and Monstrous Agonies. I had to put the Malevolent side into a modern AU for my idea, but I wouldn't call the crossover particularly crazy.
11. Have you ever had a fic stolen?
Not to my knowledge!
12. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! Someone translated These Are Lonely Times, a Deltarune fic I wrote.
13. Have you ever co-written a fic before?
Not exactly. One time a friend if mine and I decided to each write our own fic based on the same idea, and that's how we ended up with A Game To Pass The Time (mine) and we're all just killing time (theirs).
14. What's your all-time favorite ship?
I'm contractually obligated to say John/Arthur for the sheer impact they've had on my mind. I wrote my first smut for them!
15. What's a WIP you want to finish but doubt you ever will?
I have one called "Alive in Full Bloom" that's been in draft purgatory for over a year. It's about Arthur exploring gender nonconformity with John and John being a good friend to navigate this with since he isn't bogged down by human societal rules. By now, it's been long enough that I'm not sure mine will ever see the light of day. Luckily, some other writers have written great takes on the same premise!
16. What are your writing strengths?
My favorite complimemt I've ever gotten on my writing style is that my fics seem "lived in." (Thanks, Croik!) I write short fics, and I'm told I can pack a lot of feelings into a small bite.
At the risk of bragging, I also like my character voices and how I describe eldritch things. It's really tricky describing the undescribable, but I've worked at it and I'm proud of the ideas I've conveyed.
17. What are your writing weaknesses?
Plot! The fics I write are so short they're usually just one scene. Any time I try to write something with plot and an arc I'm practically tearing my hair out and I still end up with something under 5k. I like my short fic! And I am really proud of the ones I've managed to get over 4k with some semblance of an arc. I just wish I also had the power to give some of my ideas the 10k+ length they deserve.
18. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language in fic?
I'm not nearly fluent in any other languages, so I'd worry about it sounding wrong. I'd have to ask a native speaker if I ever wanted to use another language for dialogue.
19. First fandom you wrote for?
Doctor Who! Unless you count the Phineas and Ferb "episodes" I wrote as a young kid that are not published anywhere on the internet.
20. Favorite fic you've written?
Cambiare! My beautiful longfic (4,840 words) full of introspection and character development and monstrous philosophy. Even though it didn't turn out as long as I plannd/hoped, I'm really proud of the end result.

🤝 - How do the characters meet? (antagonist included!)
Kiris and Iiriok met several years before the start of Prince, at Iiriok's mother's recrowning gala. That said, in Prince, they meet again when Iiriok rescues Kiris from bandits. That would've been great and all, except Kiris' escape plan was those bandits, so Iiriok kind of jacked everything up for him.
Kiris and Batar met when they sat opposite each other at dinner that first night in 'L Tuola's fortress, and Batar murdered someone 🙃
Batar and Iiriok have known each other longer than Kiris and Iiriok, and met when they were both children. Their parents were considering potential alliance options (as well as some other parents of other princes roughly their age) and inevitably Batar wandered off after silently challenging Iiriok to follow her (ostensibly to keep her from breaking anything). They both agreed that if they did have to go through with an arranged marriage, a partnership between the two of them would be the best option of a bad situation.
👀 - A piece of lore you’ve been waiting for an excuse to share
This goes hand in hand with the above! As much as Iiriok hates Msvoulga and everything it stands for, he doesn't hate Batar (third in line for the Msvoulgan throne). Similarly, as much as Batar is angry at Iiriok, and overall bitter about how he, in her mind, abandoned her when she needed his help, she doesn't hate him. They're well over a decade since their initial choice that if they had to pass in an alliance marriage, they would choose each other, and they both still stand by it.
