my current fav one is The Unreliability of Men's Promises by dazednstoned. abigail centric fic. I'm absolutely in love with it. the writing is phenomenal and they just GET abigail and what her likely dynamic with the gang was. ugh chefs kiss
one that has been my biggest source of inspiration is mine is clouds by ssstrychnine. charthur fic. I cannot tell you how much this inspires me. not even the story, just the writing style. I was in a massive creative funk and couldn't figure out this last chapter of bloom, and I read 1.5 chapters and INSTANTLY understood how to write again. like I had to read this in quarter chapter increments so I didn't steal too many ideas, it was that amazing
this night has opened my eyes by my mutual @pinkysberg REALLY love this. john centric and pinky just GETS him. so if you read this and the first fic i mentioned side by side you have a phd level understanding of the worlds most dysfunctional couple. for a time we were writing this at the same time and were at the same place in rdr2s plot so i felt like we were two random cars driving along together on a highway lol
He Was A Friend Of Mine by biiitchofCambridge. charthur fic. SO GOOD. this was another source of inspo, mostly the dynamic between arthur and charles is what was so good. I've read a lot of fics that tend to soften both of these guys, but this fic really has that 1890s masculinity thing going on, and I appreciate that
no law less than ourselves by CatRoofDance. another source of inspo. I fully stole an entire idea and forgot that it wasn't my own and based arthurs entire character around that. oops! woah I just wrote out a whole thing abt how this was popular and well-loved for good reason, and its not number 1? huh? it should be. the top fics of the charthur tag are cliche garbage. this deserves far more love than it has
Luck and Chance by swampslip. charthur fic. I read this a looong time ago and I barely remember it but it has some of the best charles characterization ive seen. his dialogue is so perfect I can only aspire to it
Let Me Down Gently by reddeaddesolation. smutty mary/arthur fic. again its been a whiiile since I've read this but i remember really enjoying it, particularly the characterization the the dynamic between them
Don't Come Knocking by charlock221. sadie/molly fic. no sorry, THE sadie/molly fic, THE ONLY sadie/molly fic. this is canon as far as I'm concerned. not kidding. it's so well written, it's incredible. everything about it makes sense. I adore it a normal amount. even if this isnt your cup of tea, I still think you should read it

There’s so many ways you can rate fic, bc I’ve truely read so many amazing fics this year. I’m gonna go by how much brain space these fics took up, and how many times I’ve gone back to reread them. I’m also not counting anything I’m betaing for since like it’s my job to reread and let those fics take up a lot of brain space, and also bc in my mind betaing a fic isn’t really “reading”. If I was counting them though they would make the list.
6. |a leap in faith| by littlekaracan
Star Wars, codywan. 10k.
I’m an absolute sucker for wing fics. SUCKER. And this fic just has such a lovely level of intimacy, but with just a smidge of repression & pining that makes it very compelling. It’s an incredibly comforting and comfortable read and I find myself coming back to it now and then when I want something soft. Littlekaracan is one of my fav Codywan writers and they write Cody so well I’m always very compelled by the way they represent him!
5. Stalker’s tango by crashing_meteros
Star Wars. Bobadin. 7k
I was and still am very taken by the nonlinear structure of this fic. It’s incredibly well done and remains not just coherent but very expertly builds the plot. I’m always very intrigued by Boba and Din have met before aus and this fic’s take on that idea is just so unique and compelling. I support bobadin’s rights to be total and utter shitheads.

I am not immune to eldritch cowboys. I am NOT IMMUNE TO INCREDIBLY WELL EXECUTED ELDRITCH COWBOYS. I don’t think I have anything more coherent to say other than ELDRITCH COWBOYS.
3. While Mighty Oaks Do Fall by witchofendor (@a-witch-in-endor)
Atla. Zukka. 155k
This fic’s premise, incredibly oversimplified, is atla but Zuko is a lawyer. And I LOVE IT. It has this incredible blend of theology, law and political manuvering. I love some good old politics but I don’t know a lot about religion and law. This fic not only made me care and be invested in fantasy theology and law, it made me care more about real life theology and law which I think is a major accomplishment. The author clearly knows their stuff and it makes the fic way more compelling. The fleshing out of institutions like the firesages and the theological practices of other nations is incredibly well executed and compelling. I deeply care about WMODF zuko and literally just every time I re-read chapter 15 I cry.
2. War Games by Lovely_Elbow_Leech (@lovelyelbowleech)
Atla. Zukka. 271k
This one wins the “OC character most likely to tempt Flynn’s aromanticism” award. Everyone and their grandmother goes on about how much they like Shen BUT OH MY GOD I LOVE SHEN. I LOVE HIM SO MUCH!!!!! While I love love love War Crimes (this fic’s prequel) War Games does such a stellar job balancing so many moving parts, characters and plot lines that it’s incredibly impressive. It’s handling of the aftermath of War Crimes and the kind of damage that does to Sokka and Zuko is Very Very Good and feels realistic & grounded and not torture porny. This is also maybe my fav characterisation of Suki like ever. I can’t wait to see how this fic unfolds and comes together.

The rest of the fics on this list are very close together, with little separating them between ranks. This fic is the exception. 2022 has been the year of AST for me in a lot of ways. I can’t go into all the things I love about this one or we’d be here all day. It has crept into the fibers and seams of my mundane life in a way only few things have been able to. It’s helped me keep time, to know what day it was relative to updates. It’s let me examine parts of myself I didn’t know we’re there. It’s kept me entertained, and thinking, and given me the ability to reflect and grow as a person. There’s not much you can do to top that.

This fic was written in one sitting directly after the finale of tbobf made me briefly loose my mind. I have a lot of fondness for the feeling I had while writing it, and I like the way it turned out. Really should go back and edit it someday huh.

hey folks. i got into a car accident (the guy was at fault which is good for insurance), but my shit is currently not drivable b/c i had to put it in the shop, and i got my knee busted tf up. i already work two jobs, but i’m strapped for cash due to the circumstances.

subjects: any pairings that aren’t gross (i.e. incestuous or anything), angst, hurt/comfort, any dark topic that you can think of that doesnt include (romanticizing incest, bestiality, necrophilia, underage ... just weird things. i think you get my drift). AUs or UAs, headcanons. explicit content (you just gotta give the parameters of what you want done). i’ll do a lot tbh, you just gotta give me some groundwork to follow.

$5 for anything 1,000-under $10 for 2,000 $15 for 3,000-5,000
anything above 5,000 (add that $15 to another $7.50 /per each 1,500 words). so, for example in case math isn’t a strong suit ... if you wanted a 6,500-7,900 word fic, it would be $22.50. if you wanted something that was around 10,000-11,000 words, it would be $45 (i think, idk how to do math either). i can always do price buffers, b/c honestly i’ll take anything even if $1 is all you can afford. i’m just trying to think of a system.

It is so hard to choose. I love all my fics still each for their own reasons. But here's a top five of sorts in no particular order:
Roses Entwined Together - This was my first fic for the Endeavour fandom and it has been a blast writing and creating and making friends in the fandom ever since. I love Morse and Monica's relationship and I had to explore it just a bit for myself. I think this is also one of the rare fics I've written that just expands on canon ever so slightly and doesn't need to do anything else. It was simple sweet and joy to write.
Seven Nights in Rose Creek - This is the first multi-chapter fic I've ever finished. It was a great accomplishment and such an emotional ride to write. The Magnificent 7 movie really made it easy for me to write Vasquez and Faraday and dig into what would happen if they had secretly fallen in love at the start of their stay in Rose Creek.
Scrapping at the Bottom - The first fic I wrote for Calder (Fallout 4 OC) and my second OC fic overall. It's sort of his prelude for the rest of the fics I want to write for him and mostly haven't gotten to yet. I really felt like i was able to delve into his psyche a bit and play a little artistically while writing this. And it really gave me a great foundation for his character.
Norrbacka at Sunrise - I created a fandom! ...It's still just me; I just checked and it is the only fic under Fallet (Sweden TV) still. But I did it! This is a fun little fic I did for Fluffy Feb back in 2021. It hasn't gotten much traction for obvious reasons (except some excellent writer friends who have checked it out), but I honestly didn't expect much when i posted it. And I just love it so much. Just me in my little fandom. But honestly, if you like comedy and murder mysteries check Fallet out. It's a delight. Then come join my tiny fandom! ^_^
In Bud - This is gonna be a beefy one but is still in work. I started it at the end of 2021 got some steam but have had it on the back burner for some time now. Writing this fic for Arthur and Albert has brought me so so much joy. And I'm just so happy with how it's been received by other RDR2 fans. I do really think it's some of my best work to date. And I hope to get back to it once my real life calms down a bit.

“Ma, I know you’re a witch,” Bucky told his mother a few nights later, under the comfort of the wood cracking in the fireplace and the slow, calm lull outside, the half-moon barely shining through the thick clouds over the neighbour’s house.
His mother laughed, took his hand. “I’m not a witch, you silly boy. I’m a priestess.”
Bucky frowned. He wasn’t a regular church-goer, but he knew there was no such thing as Catholic priestesses.
“Priestess of what?”
She fetched the same leather-bound book he found before, all those years ago. “Let me show you.”

17th century. Steve Rogers goes to the New World with a group of Europeens in the hopes of a new, better life. They settle on the edge of a forest, in what would become Massachusetts. He quickly finds his place as a carpenter, and he may or may not have been staring at the Barnes' son a few too many times.
But as months pass, spirits and demons from the forest start to emerge. Steve can feel their eyes on him, can hear them skitter in his house at night. What if leaving offerings for them come to not be enough anymore? What if they want more?

The man, with his large brown eyes and beautiful features and small smirk, had a dangerous edge to him. No, not a man, a vampire. His long hair was loose, and he wore a perfectly fit three-piece suit. He was stunning, and it was almost irrelevant to mention that Steve was, indeed, stunned.
The stranger’s smile only grew as he dragged his gaze down Steve’s body and brought it back to his flustered face.
“Well, aren’t you lovely, lonely soldier.”
Winteriron - Tony/Bucky

Tony wakes up three years after being part of the rescue team for the USG Icarus, the most notorious planet-cracker classed spaceship, and from which he’s the only survivor. He doesn’t remember what happened during that time, or understand why he’s kept in a straightjacket on the Sprawl, the station on Saturn’s biggest moon. What Tony knows is that the Church of Hydra, responsible for the first necromorph outbreak, is redoing the same thing, and that he’s once again stuck in the middle of it. (Dead Space AU)

He'd seen all sorts of things during his travels: unexplained flying objects in the middle of the night, robots murdering their masters, a human-made monster, a serial killer convinced he was a vampire, ghosts haunting the swamps and Roanoke Ridge, and the list went on. An encounter with a werewolf wasn’t too far fetched in the greater scheme of things.
When he woke up the next day, he wondered if he hadn't just dreamed the whole thing, but the pair of jeans discarded on the floor was still damp and there was a messy drawing of the beast in his journal, along with the simple description: "I saved a werewolf from drowning. He owns me a lasso."

“Because of her decaying state? She just needs some remodel, soon she’ll be back up and about.” He stepped sideway to pat the half-destroyed wall and take a deep breath, away from Geralt’s unfair attractiveness.
“Partially, but there’s also been paranormal rumours. Apparitions, misplaced objects, footsteps.”
“And you believe in them? I always assumed you were the skeptical cartesian type.”
Geralt wasn’t facing him, but he heard him chuckle darkly. “There are things you can’t escape from.”
“Indeed,” Jaskier breathed out, thinking of what’d he seen when he was alone in the inn, the heavy presences and the few cases of being touched by a being that he had the unfortunate ability to see. “I’m, uh, familiar with unusual events.”

In 1819, Jaskier accidentally buys an old abandoned inn in the middle of nowhere, England. Haunted, as if this mountain of dust and debris wasn’t already enough of a problem. At least he has a handsome carpenter to help him renovate it.

Geralt hummed and nuzzled the crook of Jaskier’s neck without thinking. It was foreign to him, being held this gently. Only Ciri gave him hugs nowadays, but this one felt different. Geralt felt understood, precious.
“What happened, with the Horseman? How did he hurt you?”
“Freed himself and stabbed me when I was about to throw him back through the portal.” He frowned. A wound like this wouldn’t have killed him, but Doctor Lancaster had been right when he said even his metabolism wasn’t this fast. “You used your chaos to save me.”
“I did.”
“Why?”
Jaskier gently cupped the back of his head, his thumb stroking the shell of his ear. “Though I cannot cure the world, I would make you live healthy and happy in it.”

This wasn’t Dorian anymore, not the Dorian who would make fun of Felix when he’d become flustered and tongue-tied when trying to talk to a girl, who introduced him to the delicacies of wine and with whom he discussed for hours about books no one else took interest into. He couldn’t believe it, to use such radical mean for such a pitiful reason.
Halward Pavus didn't use blood magic on his son, he turned him Tranquil.

Tonight Dutch is leaning on the mantelpiece, smoking a pipe, and Hosea is in their single overstuffed armchair, nursing a cup of the boiled straw he calls tea. There's another man with them too. A stranger. Presumably the owner of the spotted mare. Tall and broad and impassive, in cross-stitched blue and tan. He has a black and gold feather braided into his hair, the match to the one in his horses bridle, and his skin holds all the warmth of the fire.

The smartest part of him still that blustering navy man taking command of the cooking to hide how terrified he was of them. Fear that was faint, but still sour, on the still air. “I’ve seen what you do to idiots who pick fights with us. You werewolves aren’t that fragile.”
“We ain’t that strong, neither,” Arthur told him.
The Pinkertons have been lost in the snow, and the law has bigger game on its mind. The O'Driscolls aren't as easy to lose.

Waking up in a field terminator style is not her idea of a good time but it beats dying, she supposes. If there's no way back (or forward?) she'll just have to do what she does best and survive in this wild western hill billy hell. And if that goddamn deathless cougar would quit stalking her, that'd be just swell.
She's got enough problems without being stalked by random wildlife and she's pretty sure that poor guy with the stalker stag is in the same boat. Maybe there's a support group they can join because this is getting ridiculous.
