While I do have my complaints with the most recent chapter, I do want to give praise where it's do.
Tumblr media
Now, I would joke that Sir Nighteye is nagging Toshinori from beyond the grave, but I do like what is being done here. Nana and Sir Nighteye are two of the people closest to Toshinori. They are also the people that Toshinori feels the most guilt over. He wasn't ready to fight All For One when he attacked, leading to Nana dying in a fight she couldn't hope to win. He pushed away Sir Nighteye for years, barely having a chance to reconcile and only doing so moments before Mirai's death. I've always believed that a lot of what All Might has been doing in the post-war era is coming to peace with his perceived failings. So far, he's tried to come to terms with his failings as a teacher and his inability to act as a hero.
As this is preceded by Stain's message of living on, I believe that this is meant to punctuate the whole journey Toshinori is going on by having him face his regrets. This could tie into him defying his fated death, having a near-death experience, and facing past loved ones. Not only is he fighting against his guilt, but he is not giving in to his fate as well. He's met by the ghosts of his past, with Nana cheering him on with her optimism while Sir Nighteye tells him that there isn't any point in fighting anymore, but Toshinori doesn't deny either. Yeah, he is damaged beyond belief, and his odds are bad, but he will keep on going. So him getting up off the ground and proclaiming he isn't dead and will still live and fight as a hero works as a really strong moment for the character.

Toga’s Love/Quirk Theory;
Tumblr media
‘I love Tomura-kun and Touya-kun too, but their quirks won’t come out like Jin-kun’s or Ochako-chan’s. I also tried it before this battle...and they wouldn’t come out! Even though I love him... Even though I can become someone I ‘love’... Even though Jin-kun could make them come out... ‘
Translations made in here by @pikahlua.
Tumblr media
Recently in chapter 382, we see Toga’s unable to become people she loves (Tomura and Dabi), despite the fact that she became Ochaco and Jin and used their quirks and i would argue that problem is not that she didnt love them enough. (This scene also remind me of the time La Brava gets depressed when her love quirk isnt powerfull enough and she questions her love, kinda parallels.)
But i dont think thats the case. Not after Shigaraki became the first person who believed in her, gave a place she belong to her and everything he did for her and not after Dabi and Toga recently connected through Jin’s death and we even get a official art of him imitating Dabi, more details in here.
I believe in you, Toga, that your love for them is geniue too.
So what’s the problem?
Tumblr media
I think its no coincidence that the people whom she couldnt use their quirks happenned to be Shigaraki and Dabi. Suicidal brats who is full of hatred and have personal agenda in league the most, unlike Toga who wants to live, even if its her own way and she is living for love.
Toga cant fully become them because she cant understand them. She doesnt understand whats going on their head. She cant relate to their hatred and she doesnt understand their thoughts.
Compared to this;
Tumblr media
Uraraka is Toga’s foil. She is someone who is just like Toga. This is exactly why Toga ran away to talk with her. Because they are similar. Their feelings, the way they tried to shut their feelings down because Toga did the same in the past, the good girls who repress their needs and they both want to become their crushes. This is why Toga thought if its Ochaco, then she can understand her and they could talk about love.
Tumblr media
In Jin’s case, he is Toga’s bestie and someone she cares as big brother. They have many similarities, they both live for the connections. They both felt lonely. They both were abandonded by society and they wanted to live easier life. They saw league as home and they wanted to do their best to help people they care about.
Basically, Toga can understand their inner thoughts and relate to their inner feelings. I dont blame Toga for this really. Shigaraki and Dabi are too complicated to understand, especially if you dont know their story and inner thoughts. And they dont even talk about their past to connect with league so it makes sense why Toga cant use their quirks.
Well, you could say Toga cant become them because she doesnt want to become them? But i kinda disagree with that. There is a theory made in here by me and several people already mentioned that Toga is imitating Shigaraki and she seems to wanting to be more like him. I would even argue that when she says ‘Even though I love him... Even though I can become someone I ‘love’’, she is talking about Shigaraki.
Tumblr media
‘I loved people’s happy faces. That’s why, for that girl, I won’t turn a blind eye to her tears.‘
Toga is a character who geniuely want to connect with people she care about but key point of love is understanding the person you love. I guess it happens to be good time to talk about love. And last panel with Uraraka and Toga is parallel with Deku’s last panel with Shigaraki, that they wont turn a blind eye to crying face, even though they are villains, they want to save them. So good luck, Toga and Ochaco.

you know, aside from the fact that I fully believe that All Might living would be 100% more interesting and is backed with past foreshadowing and theming, there's another factor that points to that outcome.
The only other time Nighteye's prediction has been wrong was back at the Overhaul battle, in which Deku used Eri's quirk to prevent himself from sustaining injury. At the time, fans speculated that the true reason that Nighteye's prediction didn't come true was because her quirk messes with the natural flow of time, thus negating Nighteye's ability to accurately view what was in store -- in other words, her quirk's ability to literally undo what would've happened in any other situation distorted the vision that Nighteye saw because, well, she undid it before it could happen. And you know what quirk is yet again in play now that All Might is in his would-be final battle? It's Eri's (reverse-engineered) quirk again.
Perhaps if AFO wasn't rewinding indefinitely -- if he was at his full power and maturity -- he would've been able to easily kill All Might here. But instead Rewind is coursing through his veins, and whatever might've happened without it is doomed to never be. He's missing quirks he gained later in life, he's impulsive and desperate, and All Might is just as determined as ever. He's got this, and he'll live.

do you ever also think about the fact that death is the only endless in the comics who doesn't have a speech bubble quirk?
destiny speaks only in italics
Tumblr media
dream has his classic black/white wobbly bubble and a unique font
Tumblr media
destruction's speech bubbles have thicker lines than everyone else
Tumblr media
desire also has a unique font
Tumblr media
despair gets her shaky ripped paper bubbles
Tumblr media
and delirium of course is always psychedelically coloured
Tumblr media
but death just talks like any other human
Tumblr media Tumblr media
because she's the only one of them who's realised that the best way to thrive as an endless is not to hold yourself above mortals, or confine yourself only to your domain - you have to live, to be part of them, because you were always part of them, that's why you exist
and your job is a lot easier to do with them alongside you

All of you people talking about whether or not All Might died or not are missing the real most important part of this chapter.
Tumblr media
I went back and double checked, she didn't have that gear before. And you can see the guns growing out of her shoulder in that top panel. Do you know what this means?
Yaoyorozu has built constructs that only partially emerge from her body in order to refuel them with her Quirk. She is making ammunition directly into the weapons.
(Not only that but her signature bo staff has been upgraded into some kind of spear, and judging by the marking on the handle, it's also got some tech behind it as well.)
The armored plating on her legs seems damaged, so I don't know what it was like before, but the shield she has growing from her arm looks intact, with some kind of plating.
Yaoyorozu's gotten some upgrades! And possibly spent some time around Hatsume, considering the new gadgets she's using.

one thing i find interesting about Dana’s words about Caleb and Evelyn from the livestream is how she seems to center events from Evelyn’s perspective (she refers specifically to the "Evelyn and Flapjack" lore when the question prompting the discussion also named Caleb, tho I don't think that's like. A calculated decision, it might just reflect who she views as the most significant characters in the grand scheme of things)
it’s about what Evelyn was doing in gravesfield, why Evelyn liked caleb, how she first presented herself to him. it’s about her family that he married into, the Clawthorne family, blood members like Eda, chosen/adopted members, like King and honorary members, like Luz. That’s who the story really centers around, so it makes sense that when approaching this nugget of lore, they'd tackle it from Evelyn's POV.
But i just find it interesting bc it’s so unlike 90% of the fan content centered around that era. Like most of the things ppl make related to Evelyn and the Wittebros is usually set from one of the brothers perspectives (with a couple of exceptions! @/moonmeg’s comics and @/litfeathers various drabbles and dubs all have a good balance of Evelyn and caleb/philip perspective!). Obviously this is mostly bc we got the Wittebros lore first (all the way back in yesterday's lie) and because we know (marginally) more about them, people have been playing around with them for longer and with more material.
But I'm honestly really interested in Dana's version of the story! Especially considering it seems like Evelyn had much more agency in the story than we give her credit for. She's the one who went to gravesfield, reached out to Caleb, presumably taking either the romantic or platonic initiative and thus setting things in motion. Why? we don't know! Dana says Caleb seemed more reasonable than the rest of the population in gravesfield, that they bonded over flapjack like dog owners over pets, which is all very interesting when we know he was a witch hunter, implies a lot of interesting things about why he was doing that career and what his status in the town social climate might've been like, but that's where fan interpretation comes into play, so I digress.
(also, this is a tangent but I'm a big fan of Dana implying that Evelyn took initiative? We only have huntlow to go off of but generally speaking the show likes to subvert overdone or overly stereotypical m/f romance tropes- while not being too pointed about it and still leaving room for nuance and characterization- and I like the idea that if they had the chance, they would've done that w/ Caleb and Evelyn, with her being the passionate Romeo and him being the more longing, pining-maiden type in the relationship hehehe)
Point to all this being, I think it's very funny how we all got wrapped up in the mystique and intrigue of (Belos' biased, carefully crafted and incomplete) narrative of ~the tragedy of the brothers Wittebane~ bc he was our main source that we failed to consider that Evelyn, who fits the character archetype TOH likes to use as a focal/viewpoint character much more cleanly that either Wittebane (what with being a young woman, a 'weirdo' estranged from her home, a Clawthorne, etc), might've actually been the perspective we should've been looking at things from. Dana's based for this actually

It's so insulting that the IronSuit "Shoto" is everything Endeavor wanted and real Shoto had a whole arc fighting against...
(Being reduced to a quirk, to his left side, to his fire). To be thrown away like a broken lighter.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Like, I'm sure it's unintended, but it's funny how tone-deaf the whole Class-A gimmick is. It's a plain testament that they are not "inspirations", but just disposable pieces.
It's a fucking mockery of their character arcs.

Trails of Love Hori's been paving down in the build up for the series' ending
Part II: Decoding the love story being told through other characters
Part One | II. Gentle/La Brava | Part Two -> KamiJirou
.•° ✿ 3. KiriMina ೋღ
Tumblr media
Kirishima and Mina have been acquainted since middle school and are tied together with themes of admiration. They also have a lot of other parallels with BkDk and Horikoshi's purpose behind these similarities became even more intriguing with the addition of chapter 383. This chapter came while I was still writing the Hori trails meta so it's inclusion is a bit of happy accident, but it helps reinforce our understanding of what Hori is up to.
I've always been interested in KiriMina because they're the only other pair besides BkDk that have history together which pre-dates U.A. So I was curious about where Hori was going to take them.
In this meta I will be exploring many similarities and parallels between KiriMina and BkDk, as well as share my thoughts on Horikoshi's intention in writing them this way.
These are some of their similarities:
They knew each other before U.A just like BkDk
Kirishima lacked bravery/confidence like Izuku
Kirishima admired Ashido's confidence and bravery like Izuku did for Kacchan
When Kirishima entered U.A he aimed to be more confident and personable, just like Ashido, in the same way Izuku wanted to be like Kacchan and copied his confidence and movement style.
Tumblr media
Chapter 383 reveals Ashido also struggles with feelings of weakness and blames herself for the death of Midnight and others in the war, in much the same vein as Kacchan's guilt he felt about being an end to All Might's hero career because of his "weakness".
Tumblr media
Kirishima admired Ashido's ability to connect and bring people closer together and he wanted to have that same influence on their classmates at U.A. Aizawa once described BkDk as the heart of his class who instilled their passion into everyone. But in contrast to BkDk, KiriMina have always gotten along well and have actively strived to help their classmates do the same.
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
When asked about Kirishima's role in helping Katsuki after the LoV abduction arc, Horikoshi spoke about the bittersweetness of Izuku not being able to do it himself. Kirishima was written as an important bridge that connected Izuku to Katsuki again, and in doing so, he became someone who brings their classmates together like Ashido. With encouragement from their classmates and teachers, Izuku and Katsuki's bond began to heal and they became pillars of hope whose passions inspired those around them to go beyond their limits.
There are also parallels between Kirishima and Izuku in their ideals of heroism.
Tumblr media
Izuku's idea of heroism and sticking his nose in where it doesn't belong also lines up with Kirishima's ideals of heroism. The story of Izuku running into danger to save Katsuki had also inspired Kirishima to do his best to become a hero.
Tumblr media
In the fight against Gigantomachia, there's a parallel of Kirishima running through the flames to save Ashido, just as Izuku ran through the flames for Katsuki's sake in chapter one.
Tumblr media
And a narrative seed was planted when Kirishima pushes Ashido out of the way and tanks a heavy hit in place of her. This scene is mirrored shortly after, when Katsuki does the exact same thing for Izuku, saving his life.
The amount of similarities these two couples have with each other is so striking, isn't it? We never really knew why Hori has been building these two up as mirrors of BkDk, until the recent chapter 383, where they went up against the same villain BkDk did at the start of the manga and the most important similarity was revealed of all.
Tumblr media
Mina's facial expression and explosion of acid coming from her hand is very similar to Katsuki's. Although she often emulates Katsuki, Ashido primarily took on Izuku's role during this chapter's story, and Kirishima is the one being saved from the sludge villain by her in this call back to chapter one.
In a moment of weakness, Ashido is overcome by exhaustion and almost faints, and Kirishima catches her - which may call to mind the time Izuku fainted of exhaustion at the end of his Vigilante arc, and Katsuki leaping forward, just in time to catch him.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Ashido apologises to Kirishima, just as Katsuki did with Izuku, and that's where their similarities with Katsuki and Izuku stop, because Kirishima gives Ashido his answer... while Izuku, has always kept his own to himself...
However, anyone who has been paying attention to the story, knows Kirishima's next words to be absolutely true for Izuku, too:
Tumblr media Tumblr media
There's nothing to forgive, because Katsuki is Izuku's hero.
Tumblr media
Kirishima's answer to Ashido, are Izuku's missing words to Katsuki’s apology in chapter 322. Katsuki is Izuku's light and hero, but Izuku never got the chance to tell him this. Katsuki had poured his heart out to Izuku, and never received Izuku's reply.
There has clearly been some things left unsaid between Katsuki and Izuku, and this indirect reference to BkDk via KiriMina only serves as a tool to highlight this even further and generate more intrigue and anticipation for what BkDk will be saying to each other some day.
It's also very possible that these words are something Katsuki needs to tell Izuku, as well. Kirishima calling Ashido “baka” is very akin to Katsuki’s tsundere behaviour towards Izuku, so these apologies and affirmations of Ashido being Kirishima’s hero may yet be more seeds Kohei has planted for Izuku and Katsuki to mirror some day.
Tumblr media
Katsuki has never told Izuku what he means to him, and it seems that Edgeshot, having become a part of Katsuki's heart, is the only one who really knows the true shape of his love and how Katsuki was waiting for Izuku to come save him.
Because Izuku has always been Katsuki’s hero, and this goes back as far as the river scene.
Tumblr media
And aside from referencing Katsuki's apology, these words of: "I'm seriously sorry I've been such a let down" could also be describing Izuku's current feelings towards ‘failing to protect what he cares about’ and his most important person dying on his own because they got separated when Izuku got caught and dragged away by Toga. Izuku must feel incredibly guilty for what has happened, and like he has let Katsuki down completely. These may serve as important call back lines for BkDk, for an intimate scene they will share together.
So KiriMina is another couple Hori has SPEAKING for BkDk, for events that are both in the past and, very likely, in the future as well.
Hori has already brought back the #2 baka couple (#1 is BkDk, soon™) a second time and inserted their dialogues to help remind us that Katsuki's very last moments alive were filled with thoughts of Izuku by his side, which brought him happiness to mask over his fears and pain. And now KiriMina’s situation paralleling BkDk's own dynamic and scenes together, seems to have been written in almost as if to get people wondering what the true nature of BkDk's relationship might be, even though they aren’t featured in the chapter.
I think Hori wants people to come to the conclusion that the words and thoughts Kirishima and Mina are expressing, are yet another layer that serves to fill in the blanks of how Izuku and Katsuki feel about each other. Whether or not these affirmations are to be taken romantically, or are words that will be said between them is up to Kohei's discretion. However, by bringing BkDk's relationship to the forefront of a lot of reader's minds, Hori is taking a well-planned step towards his goal of making their deep bond and connection of love a central focus of the story later this year.
Next up - Kamijirou! Back to Gentle/La Brava Back to Part One

when Kiriona says to Crux: "“Good. Die. Die for [Harrow] … it’s the only goddamn good you’ll ever do for her. It's all any of you ever knew how to give her. You could have lived for her … but you didn’t know how.”
this is it, isn’t it? Gideon calls herself out and lays bare something this entire series has been built on: love as consumption, as sacrifice, as a fucking forest fire and a nuke: "you have not yet seen the horrors of love"
Gideon dies for Harrow because she thinks it’s all she can do. Harrow sacrifices her selfhood and her mind and every memory of Gideon, because she cannot conceive of a universe without her. Camilla and Palamades die for each other because they cannot bear to be apart, the idea of the perfect love twisted into a mutual death. John loves the world so much that he ate it. destruction and revenge and cannibalism as the ultimate expressions of devotion.
the D in devotion stands for dead.
and obviously, that is all incredible and extremely thought provoking and sexy, but..... Kiriona names the one avenue of love that this series has not yet really explored: what if you lived for someone instead of dying for them.
i’m thinking of Abigail and Magnus, in the river bubble, telling Harrow to live for Gideon instead of dying for her. i’m thinking about how Ianthe loves Coronabeth so much and refuses to eat her, refuses to consume her, leaves her abandoned and sobbing but alive. i’m thinking about Blood of Eden’s founding protocol, the one that supersedes all others: the order to live.
Kirona has named it, but how does she earn it -- how does Harrow earn it? narratively speaking. anyway... even if AtN doesn’t end up exploring this i am turning it all around in my head.

I absolutely adore the little quirks that come with the roles. The little touches they add to their characters, habits or moments that aren’t exactly in the script you know? Dave burning himself repeatedly on the trays is funny as hell and I’ve recently discovered that Frank apparently believes that everything needs carrots.
He does this like four times and I’m losing it. I don’t know what it actually is but it looks like carrot soufflé (which is great btw).
It’s fun to watch body language, it also gives a great help if you write!

A Lie of Individuality
Tumblr media
You know my favorite part about chapter 419?
It's how All For One's great big, brutal final reveal destroys Tomura by ripping away the single most important part of his character journey as a Villain, and throwing it in the trash.
One of the lost in translation moments this series lost from Japanese to English is the fact that the terms for ones ability in this series would more correctly be translated as ones "individuality", and no character is defined more by this than Izuku and Tomura.
Izuku because of his lack of it defined him as a person, but for Tomura, ALL of his development has been based on finding his own individuality and building himself on it.
Tumblr media
One of his biggest moments of growth was when he finally realized that one of the things that made his urges go away was to fully give in to his urges, which he saw as finally giving in to what he was meant to be. What his quirk, his genetically set destiny had laid down before him.
He was born with a quirk of total and absolute destruction, and so he was genetically predisposed to destroying things. It was only natural that this was what he was meant to do, and so each and every impulse of destroying things he ever had was completely justifiable.
He didn't really have any culpability in it. That's why he hated hero society so much. Because it rejected him from the moment he was born, because he was born with violent urges, just like Toma was.
Except that was all a big, fat, fucking lie.
Shigaraki was never born with any destructive urges in life.
The feelings he had, whatever their origin, had absolutely nothing at all to do with any predisposed genetic urges.
Tumblr media
And that means that his justifications for why he killed and murdered was all based on a lie, a flimsy foundation, a hollow base.
A lie based on his belief in his own Individuality.

What do you think Class 1-A's action figures would look like in universe?
Non-quirk related question haha. What do you think class 1A's barbie-ken taglines would be? Not sure how to frame the question but for example for Tokoyami it could be, "This Ken is gothic" or for Ochako it could be, "This Barbie is on cloud nine" (due to her quirk)
I mean, I'm not sure if there is much to say on that. I feel like any taglines for actions figures would just be pretty generic, but I can talk about action figures.
Tumblr media
Sato: Comes with a series of small snacks that you can feed him to cause him to bulk up and you pop open the stomach to get them back.
Koda: Just a simple figurine of him with a bunch of small animal models that you can play with as well. Comes with a button to play animal sounds.
Mineta: Orbs on the head are removable and the toy comes with arms that catapult the orbs forward. Possibly with a pointless target pad that no kid will use.
Sero: His tape dispensers can be pulled out like a rip cord, letting the action figure pull itself to whatever you put the doll on. Filling them with regular tape did not work well with test audiences.
Aoyama: Armor is made of a super reflective material that shimmers and has a flashlight in the belt to replicate his beam. Also comes with a lot of costume variants and accessories at Aoyama's instance.
Hakagure: Like Aoyama, her toy is very reflective, almost like a giant prism that gives off colorful lights when put up to any light. A stocking issue made it a hard to find collector's item for a time.
Ojiro: The tail can be curled up and then released, causing the action figure to fling forward. This curling can be used to make it hang on stuff as well. His tail also comes with "kung fu action grip", because of course it does.
Denki: Comes with a bunch of flashing lights and sounds for his electrical attacks. Has a swithcable head for his regular face and his low power face, much to Denki's chagrin. Batteries are not included for some reason.
Jiro: Definitely has some music aspect for it's main gimmick, like being able to use her jacks to plug your MP3 player into it to play music on it or having recordings of her songs on it when you press a button on it.
Kirsihima: Either has a bunch of plates on it that you can put on him to harden him up or you push a button to pop them out of the toy. Had issues in production because of how dangerous the hair spike was for kids.
Mina: Has an action figure with a lot articulation. It's main feature is a goo that comes with it that kids are suppose to put in and fire out of the toy. They fill it up by removing head and pouring the goo in, much to Mina's horror.
Shoji: The main feature would obviously be his arms. They'd either work like super stretchy arms or have a much of attachments that a kid could connect and stack on top of each other to add on whatever organs they want.
Iida: This figure with a set up buttons that can kick the legs forward, able to demolish any stack of cups that you happen to set up. He happens to be bundled a lot with overly complex, Ingeium themed cars, much to Iida's confusion.
Tsuyu: Has a lot of suckers on the hands and feet so you can stick it to surfaces. The tongue can be shoot out as well to grab onto stuff, kind of like those sticky hand toys. Yes, it is water proof and a popular bath toy for young children.
Tokoyami: Probabley has a standard figure with Dark Shadow with larger versions of it being sold separately. The parts of Dark Shadow can be removed and put onto Tokoyami for his armored form. It has a glow in the dark feature, without a doubt.
Shoto: Comes with fire and ice attachment to simulate shooting it out of his hands and feet. The scar was on the wrong side of a better part of it's run and it's occasionally bundled with Endeavor toys to help increase Enji's poor sales.
Momo: Her costume had to be changed on the figurine in order to be sold in stores. She comes with a massive amount of accessories to have her wield, along with little facts and tidbits about them. Momo demanded that her toy had some educational merits.
Katsuki: Probably has some spring power launcher in his arms that you can use to fire out plastic darts. Definitely has something that screams out catchphrases like "Die!" and "I'll kill you!" that would have to be rewrite and recorded several times to get them published.
Uraraka: Has a button that makes her hands glow like she does when she uses her powers along with has wench systems like Sero for her grapple hooks. Probably has a weird spin off line based around it, like Uraravity's Space Adventures featuring the Alien Queen Pinky.
Izuku: The most popular and with the most variations, though the standard ones glows with a button press, has spring shoots for the boots, and an spring in the hand to fire plastic air blasts. Sometimes comes out with special versions that come with other Quirks he had.

the 2nd user is an enigma to everyone...
...including All for One?
It would seem our time spent wondering about 2nd's quirk has come to an end. I guess I should put my old theory to rest? Well, hang on. I noticed something weird.
Please note that as of posting this official translations are not out, so I might easily be mistaken, but I'm under the impression that All for One did not know about 2nd's quirk. There are a few things that set up this implied detail:
It is established at the start of the chapter that AFO is the one in control, at least for the moment. So we know we're getting his POV in narration.
When Izuku uses Blackwhip and Fa Jin, AFO calls them old tricks that won't work on him. He's familiar with these quirks.
When Izuku activates Transmission, AFO is taken aback. He describes the power's appearance as completely different from before, and he doesn't seem to know what's happening right away.
When he describes what the quirk does, he's deducing it, which is odd. From this we can actually infer a couple of things besides him not knowing about it. First of all this must mean that the Search quirk AFO stole from Ragdoll can't see into One for All's additional accumulated quirks, otherwise he would have anticipated 2nd. This also means, dare I say it, that AFO is an unreliable narrator when he describes 2nd's quirk as "a meta ability that enables the user to shift the speed of anything he touches." He's making an observation using the given evidence, not stating a fact. 2nd strikes me as a very secretive person, so it seems possible to me that AFO never met him, or at least never experienced his quirk firsthand. Indeed, maybe no information exists about his quirk because he never told anyone about it. I can see how 2nd’s support items could be designed to conceal the use of his quirk to make projectile weapons move faster. They conceal his whole hand and forearm, so no one could see what he’s doing inside.
Hell, maybe the way Izuku is currently using Transmission is also a misdirection. Let me once again call attention to the fact that 2nd told Izuku that his quirk evolved into something PARTICULARLY UNIQUE. THAT CANNOT BE WIELDED THE USUAL WAY.  Now I don't know about you, but the power we have been shown does not fit my criteria of unique, and Izuku seems like he wielded it pretty "usually." The previous scene made it seem like he tried and FAILED to use it before, so how come it came to him so easily only minutes later? I really really hope this is because we haven't seen the full reveal yet. Perhaps using this power now comes at some greater cost to the user. Perhaps we are only seeing one of its uses. It should be pointed out here that while the locked door imagery was used in reference to 2nd's quirk in ch 349, it was not used here. So, something hasn't been unlocked yet?
I think now I’ve reached the end of my rope in reasonable theorizing, but I want to mention one more thing. The name of 2nd’s quirk, Transmission. in Japanese it is called トランスミッション which looks to me like it’s borrowed directly from English, and it means exactly the same thing. Two things, actually. It can refer to the transmission of a motor vehicle, but more generally, transmission can of course refer to the action of transmitting something, anything. A message, an emotion, an energy, a thing, an idea...a quirk? I can’t get it out of my head. This feels so suspicious to me given the nature and origin of One for All itself as a power that is transferred.  What if 2nd is actually directly responsible for the transference of OFA? What if his own quirk holds that ability, and once he gave it to Yoichi, it merged with the power stockpiling quirk AFO gave him? The story we were given about Yoichi not actually being quirkless and unknowingly having a power that passes on... the ability to be passed on(???)--it’s rather flimsy, no? Doesn’t make a whole lot of sense. We don’t even know how Yoichi was able to figure out he could give OFA away. Makes me think, if it’s not simply bad writing on Horikoshi’s part, it could be a lie constructed to further keep Transmission a secret. I mean, seriously, what if Transmission created One for All? Of course they’d want to keep that information from AFO.

So Transmission + power stockpiling quirk = OFA, which in itself also gathers and powers up existing quirks, including the original Transmission quirk. Now imagine, what could Transmission do now that it’s powered up? What could it turn around do to OFA?

Oh yeah, also, uhhh, this could be super relevant to Izuku and Katsuki finally holding hands?

AFO not only takes out Mt Lady, he takes out MACHIA. He aims a kill shot at his own loyal servant now that the servant dares speak back to the master. Immediately after, AFO wonders if his “other self” (aka TomurAFO) is influencing him because his insides/his core has started to produce a “dark thing” that AFO cannot fully control, especially as he rewinds. Then he says that, by surrendering to it (the “dark thing”), he can get “even more” from a quirk.
Meaning at some point soon, AFO could be overtaken by the “darkness” and his quirk(s) will go beyond their full power. A rewound AFO IS the quirk singularity. All impulse, all quirk power; no heart or soul. His body will move entirely on its own with no heart driving the movement. It’s no coincidence that this happens in the same chapter as Hawks loses his quirk (but keeps hope alive) AND as Death Arms gets his heroic “moved without thinking” redemption to save a kid who’s consistently shown doubt in heroes.
