I love Nesta, but it drives me absolutely bonkers how some people think ACOSF was SJM telling us the IC is toxic and Nesta was always right.

Like…did y’all READ the book?

SJM makes it so incredibly clear that the things Nesta said/did were wrong. That the IC tried to help (even though they didn’t know what was wrong, since Nesta never told them and the IC are not mind readers Jesus) but that the training was the LAST resort. Nesta changed by the end of ACOSF. She grew, healed, and saw where she had messed up. If she had “always been right and the IC are just toxic”, she wouldn’t have changed. She’d have stayed the same. But by the end she wasn’t.

ACOSF is both a healing and redemption story.

Unlike so many of Nesta’s stans, SJM acknowledges Nesta’s trauma response, but she doesn’t excuse them when it comes to her behavior. That is never more abundantly clear then when Amren calls Nesta out, in my opinion.

People will talk all day about “unreliable narrator” when it comes to Feyre, but not about Nesta when she was at her LOWEST? Somehow, how she viewed the IC at the beginning of ACOSF is just pure facts?

Y’all missed the whole point and it kills me.

I just know that deep down both Cassian and Rhys are rooting for Lucien to have his endgame with Elain. My guys knows what it’s like to be pining and waiting for their Archeron mates to even acknowledge the mating bond between them and the pain that goes along with it 😂

The High Lord, who is the product of a lesser fae woman and the magically chosen High Lord that doesn't get a say in if he's chosen by the gods to rule or not, who is also discriminated against by his own court (and the people outside it) for not being full High Fae

A bastard-born general who never knew his father and whose mother was murdered for being sexually assaulted, and was raised in a war camp for the first decade of his life

A shadowsinger who was likely also the product of sexual assault at the hands of his powerful father, who then punished Azriel for his OWN discretion by locking him in total darkness for 11 years and allowed his two older sons to torture the Azriel so severely he still carries the scars

An ancient god that spent 1000 years trapped in a prison

A woman whose only value to her family was her reproductive organs and when she no longer served that function, had a note nailed to her body before she was dumped over a foreign border where, lets be real, they expected her to be killed

Because it’s gotten so incredibly popular over the years, I feel like this notion gets ignored a lot, but I don’t mind saying it:

The ACOTAR series isn’t for everyone.

There are themes, characters, and plot lines that not everyone will like or enjoy. In fact, I’d argue that ACOTAR is really for people that love and indulge in High Fantasy, and knows that putting excessive modern day expectations on High Fantasy is NOT realistic. It’s for people who enjoy classic themes and motifs, as well as fantasy romance and all that entails.

So when I see people hate the IC, Rhysand, Feyre, Nessian, Elriel, and the structure of the Fae world, all I can think is…yeah, this story might not be for you.

Maybe, if you hate all the main characters and the main storyline, you should read something else??

“The Inner Circle treated Nesta like shit simply because she had a different trauma response than them” babe her trauma response consisted of being abusive, lashing out and hurting people unprovoked, and using people’s insecurities to tear them down so she can feel good about herself. Respectfully how the fuck did you think they were going to treat her? With the respect she can’t even be bothered to give them?

You hate Feyre, you hate Rhys, you hate Cassian and Az, you hate the inner circle, you want Elain to be with someone she doesn’t want to be with just cause he’s her mate, you’re pro Tamlin, you’re pro Lucien and thinks he never did anything wrong.

Imagine having the AUDACITY.

Why would you read the books if you hate Feyre who is the entire core of the series, and Rhys who is extremely important in the series as well? Cassian and Azriel as well. You go through all those pages just to hate the main characters?

And you want Elain to give “poor Lulu 🥺” a chance when she doesn’t like him, is uncomfortable around him, loses her confidence around him and he said he can’t stand to be in the same room as her? Yeah that makes a lot of sense. Elain does not owe “Lulu” ANYTHING. She doesn’t like him. The books make that extremely clear. Stop trying to make it seem like they should be together and disregarding canon evidence that they don’t like each other just for Lucien’s benefit.

People apparently fail to remember that the Inner Circle is Rhysand's most trusted family and friends. That's it. No one else is included except his, again, MOST TRUSTED FAMILY AND FRIENDS.
