What is PRI? The Ultimate Guide to Primary Rate Interface
Tumblr media
PRI (Primary Rate Interface) is a form of a digital circuit that’s used for transmitting data and voice over conventional phone lines. But what exactly is this digital circuit, how does it work, and what benefits does it offer to businesses? We’ll discuss this in the ultimate guide to PRI and answer all the questions you may have about PRI.
PRI Explained
As mentioned, it is a digital circuit, which offers around 23 voice channels, as well as one data channel. This makes a total of 24 channels for transmitting both data and voice over conventional copper phone lines. Typically, medium to large-sized firms use PRI for their telephone systems to ensure they can easily manage a large volume of calls without any hassle.

Com fail or Missing self test
What does it mean when the Central Dispatch company for your alarm system calls and tells you that they are missing the SELF TEST SIGNALS?
When your alarm keypad says “COM FAIL” or Communication failure it means the panel has been trying to send signals and is not able to.
When dispatch calls to tell you that they are getting MISSING SELF TEST it means that dispatch normally gets a signal from your panel checking in and they are not getting those signals.
Most of the time this is an issue with the PHONELINE or the CELLULAR UNIT.
If your system is a 3G Cellular unit it will no longer transmit signals after 12/31/2022 and the way to fix this is to have a new 4G/LTE cellular unit installed.
3G Cellular systems were taken off of the phone company cell towers and the transition was supposed to be done by the end of 2022.
Fire Alarm panels are required to send several signals per day and if the dispatch center is no longer getting any signals they will need to notify the fire marshal.
Another issue that could be happen is if you have changed your analog POTS line to a VOIP digital line then the alarm panel tries to send the signals to a computer at the central station and VOIP is 18 volts and analog lines are 54 volts and VOIP lines cut the sign wave off on the top and the bottom so much of the times packets are lost and signals are corrupted or not sent. The solution to this is to install a cellular unit.
Often you will be able to save more money by canceling your phonelines and having the alarm company install a cell on the fire alarm, security and the elevator phones.

Grid Kids
Sebastian Vettel x wife!Reader x platonic!drivers
Summary: your adopted family may be chaotic but you wouldn’t change it for the world
Series Masterlist
Tumblr media
Max Verstappen: Jailhouse Rock
It’s an ungodly hour of the morning when your phone rings. You groan, fumbling blindly on the nightstand to silence the offender. The name glowing on the screen gives you pause: Max Verstappen.
“Seb,” you mumble, nudging your husband awake. “Max is calling. It’s 3 am.”
Sebastian grumbles something unintelligible, face squished into the pillow next to you.
“You take it,” you insist, poking him again, “I spent three hours on the phone with Lewis last night promising him that Roscoe doesn’t hate him for being left at home this weekend.”
Reluctantly, Sebastian sits up, rubbing the sleep from his eyes. He swipes to answer, his groggy voice filling the silent room. “Max, do you know what time it is?”
You hear a hurried explanation from Max’s end, something about a go-kart race, a party, and a tiny misunderstanding with local law enforcement. Your husband’s face becomes more incredulous with every word.
“Wait, you’re where?”
***
Ten minutes later, you find yourselves at the police station, bleary-eyed but amused. Max is sat behind bars, a sheepish look on his face.
“I promise, it wasn’t my fault,” he insists, blue eyes pleading.
You both manage to suppress your laughter. After signing a few papers, Max is free but the smug grin on Sebastian’s face tells you that he’s not going to let him off that easy.
“So, this is our life now?” you whisper to Sebastian, wrapping your arm around his. “Running a day care for unruly F1 drivers.”
He chuckles, giving you a light kiss on the forehead. “I think we make a pretty good team.”
Charles Leclerc: Open the Floodgates
It’s a stormy evening when your phone buzzes again. This time, it’s a text message from Charles Leclerc: Hey, can I crash at yours? My flat’s kind of … flooded.
Sebastian, reading over your shoulder, raises an eyebrow. “Flooded?”
Before you can respond, a photo arrives — Charles’ living room, a sea of murky water with floating furniture: Okay, maybe more than just kind of.
You look at each other, suppressing laughter. “Guess we’re running a bed & breakfast now too,” you comment, already texting Charles back: Come over. Bring a mop.
***
Not an hour later, there’s a knock at your door. Charles, drenched from head to toe, stands at your doorstep, carrying what appears to be a plant pot with a small, equally wet cactus.
“I saved the cactus,” he says, looking as pitiful as a drowned rat, albeit a very cute one. He offers a half-hearted shrug, “I didn’t want it to drown.”
Sebastian bursts out laughing, his contagious mirth echoing around the hall. You can’t help but join in, hugging your sides in an attempt to remain composed.
“Well, come in. We can’t have you and the cactus catching a cold.”
***
Over the next few days, you quickly adapt to the unexpected housemate situation. Charles proves to be a surprisingly tidy guest, always washing his dishes and even cooking dinner one night (although you had to discreetly order pizza after trying his special lasagna).
In the evenings, the three of you curl up on the sofa with Sebastian’s old race replays, laughing and teasing each other. And every night, before he goes to his bed in the guest room, Charles says goodnight to his cactus — the newest member of your eccentric family.
Lance Stroll: The Cat-astrophe
A week later, you get a frantic call from Lance Stroll. “Guys, I found this cat,” he says, panting heavily, “It was all alone in the alley and I couldn't just leave it there.”
The line goes silent for a moment before Lance coughs then sneezes loudly. “Uh, guys, I think I might be allergic ...”
***
When Lance arrives, the culprit — a tiny, scruffy looking kitten — is perched on his shoulder while Lance himself is a picture of misery: puffy eyes, runny nose, and all.
Between his sneezes, Lance pleads, “Can you please keep her until I figure out what to do? I can’t just abandon her.”
You glance at Sebastian, who looks at the tiny furball with a mixture of amusement and concern. He’s been a dog person all his life but how can you say no to those pleading green eyes?
And so, your home expands to accommodate another kid — this time, a four-legged one.
***
The next few days are full of chaos. The kitten — whom Lance named Speedy — turns out to be an agent of destruction, knocking over everything in her path and giving Charles’ cactus a few worrying near misses.
You try to give Lance advice on finding a new home for Speedy while dealing with cat-proofing your own. But, during the ensuing pandemonium, you can’t help but laugh.
George Russell: The Shrunken Sweater Saga
One sunny afternoon, George Russell bursts through the door, a panicked expression on his face. “Guys, something terrible happened!”
Sebastian and you exchange a concerned look, jumping up from where you were cuddled on the couch. “What is it, George?”
He holds up a shrunken cashmere sweater, once a luxurious wardrobe piece, now resembling something only a toy poodle could wear. “I accidentally put all my sweaters in the washing machine! They’ve shrunk!”
As the reality of the situation sinks in, you can’t help but chuckle. “George, you do know cashmere isn’t machine-washable, right?”
“I thought they were!” he laments, looking at his miniature sweater in disbelief.
Sebastian claps a hand on George’s shoulder. “Don’t worry, mate. We’ll figure this out.”
***
Over the next few days, you and Sebastian embark on a quest to save George’s beloved cashmere sweaters. Armed with online tutorials and gallons of fabric softener, you attempt various rescue techniques.
Some of the sweaters regain a semblance of their former glory while others are beyond saving. You present George with a colorful assortment of shrunken clothing which he accepts with an embarrassed grin.
***
A sudden thought strikes you and you can’t help but giggle. Holding up a particularly tiny sweater, you call out to Speedy.
“Look, Speedy! It’s your size!” you exclaim as you gently dress her in the shrunken garment. It fits her perfectly, making her look like the most stylish cat on the block.
The sight of Speedy strutting around in a cashmere sweater breaks all of you into laughter. Even George can’t help but chuckle, despite his heartbreaking loss.
***
In the following days, Speedy parades around the house, flaunting her new wardrobe. George’s shrunken sweaters have found a new purpose, and despite the initial panic, everything worked out in the end.
“This is the most high-fashion cat I’ve ever seen,” Sebastian comments one day, watching Speedy strut her stuff on the living room rug. “She should be on a runway.”
George, watching his beloved sweaters being put to good use, grins. “I think they look better on her than they did on me.”
Speedy watches you with a lazy stare, now comfortably nestled in her new family’s hearts (and cashmere sweaters).
Lando Norris: Call the Milk Man
It’s a lazy Sunday afternoon when the doorbell rings, jolting you out of your peaceful nap. Groggily, you stumble towards the door, pulling it open to reveal a sheepish-looking Lando Norris.
“Hi, I was just wondering,” he starts, shifting nervously from foot to foot, “Do you have some milk I could borrow? I ran out and the shops are closed.”
Suppressing a smile, you nod, motioning for him to wait while you go fetch the milk.
***
When you hand Lando the milk, he seems relieved. But then, he looks at the container quizzically. “Why is it in a glass bottle? Don’t you use cartons?”
Your laughter fills the hallway as you explain your household’s eco-friendly policy. Lando listens attentively, his previous discomfort replaced with genuine curiosity. You can tell he’s taking mental notes.
***
Over the next few weeks, Lando pops by more frequently. Sometimes he borrows more milk, other times he just wants to chat about sustainability, an interest sparked during his first milk visit.
One day, he arrives at your doorstep with a broad grin and a glass bottle in hand. “Look, I’ve switched to glass milk bottles too!”
Sebastian will be proud.
Mick Schumacher: Comfort in Company
One evening, you find Mick Schumacher sitting alone in your backyard, gazing at the stars. His usually cheerful face is thoughtful, his eyes a little glossy.
“Mick, everything alright?” you ask, settling down next to him on the grass.
He looks at you then at the stars again. “I just ... I miss my dad, you know?”
The silence hangs in the air, thick with emotions. You reach out, placing a comforting hand on his shoulder. “It’s okay to miss him. You don’t have to hide it. Especially not here with us.”
He nods, wiping his eyes. “I know. It’s just some days it hits harder than others.”
You stay with him, listening as he talks about his dad, his memories both sweet and poignant. You realize that while you’ve adopted your grid kids into your chaotic family, they each come with their own sets of joys and sorrows.
***
Sebastian joins you two after a while and the three of you sit under the stars, sharing stories and remembrances. Mick smiles as Sebastian tells him stories about racing with Michael, the camaraderie they shared, and the respect they had for each other.
By the end of the night, Mick seems lighter, the earlier sadness replaced with a soft smile of remembrance. He thanks both of you for listening and understanding. “You guys really are like a second family to me.”
The Big Announcement
One sunny afternoon, you gather all your grid kids in the living room. The chatter is lively, the room buzzing with energy as they try to figure out why they’ve been summoned.
Sebastian gives your hand a reassuring squeeze as you both stand in front of your unconventional family.
“We’ve called you all here because we have some news,” you begin, heart pounding in your chest.
***
When you finally tell them you're pregnant, the room falls into a stunned silence, their wide-eyed expressions making you chuckle. But then, as the news sinks in, the silence is broken by whoops of joy and congratulations.
“Wow, so we’re going to be big brothers?” Max exclaims, while Lando jokes about teaching the baby to prank Sebastian, Mick looks almost teary-eyed with happiness, and George immediately volunteers for babysitting duties.
***
With your pregnancy announcement, your grid kids go into overdrive. They begin to dote on you in a way that’s both touching and a little overwhelming. From Charles insisting on cooking you healthy meals (despite his previous lasagna disaster) to Max bringing you comfortable pregnancy pillows, everyone tries to make you as comfortable as possible.
Lance even makes Speedy wear a bell around her neck in case she inadvertently startles you. The cat isn’t pleased but the sight of her jingling around the house keeps everyone entertained.
***
As the weeks go by, their concern borders on overprotectiveness. They fuss over you at the smallest things, like Max insisting on driving you to your doctor’s appointments because he’s “the fastest driver” or Lando continually adjusting the house temperature to ensure you’re never too hot or cold.
While their actions are well-intended, they often become hilariously excessive. One day, you find Mick baby-proofing the house even though the baby isn’t due for months. He sheepishly shrugs, “Just trying to be prepared.”
***
Despite the chaos, their actions stem from love and concern, which warms your heart. One evening, you find yourself surrounded by your grid kids as you sit in the living room, their laughter filling the air.
As you watch them, your hand gently resting on your growing belly, you can’t help but feel grateful. These young drivers, your grid kids, have become such a vital part of your life. Their genuine care and, at times, overzealous concern during your pregnancy only emphasize the strong bond you share.
Your family may not be traditional and your daily life may be filled with mayhem but it’s your life with Sebastian and the grid kids. It’s chaotic, hilarious, and unpredictable — and you wouldn’t trade it for anything else.
The Big Day
The day finally arrives when you’re rushed to the hospital. Sebastian is by your side, holding your hand through every contraction, while your grid kids anxiously wait in the waiting room, pacing and biting their nails.
A few hours later, when your newborn daughter makes her entrance into the world, Sebastian walks out to the young drivers, his eyes sparkling with joy and exhaustion. “You can meet her now.”
The joy and anticipation in the room is palpable as they rush in, crowding around the hospital room door in their eagerness.
The sight that greets them is nothing short of heartwarming. You’re in bed, looking tired but blissful, a tiny bundle nestled in your arms.
As they take turns holding the little one, their faces light up in awe. From Max’s gentle cooing to Lando’s finger being gripped by tiny hands to Mick’s unashamed happy tears to Charles’ whispered lullaby in French and George’s soft-spoken promise to be the “coolest brother,” the room is filled with a warm sense of family.
Even Speedy, smuggled into the hospital in Lance’s jacket, gets to sniff the newest human member of the family, much to the nurses’ chagrin.
A Baby in the Paddock
Several months later, the paddock welcomes an unexpected visitor — your baby daughter, wrapped snugly in a cute onesie with a tiny racing helmet print. As you push her stroller through the crowd, your grid kids and their fellow drivers are visibly smitten by the adorable sight.
Your grid kids instantly surround your daughter, their faces lighting up as they coo and make silly faces to elicit giggles. They take turns pushing her stroller and you can’t help but chuckle at their enthusiasm in their newfound roles as big brothers.
Sebastian, ever the proud father, looks on with warm amusement as he watches your daughter bond with her extended family.
***
Amid the hustle and bustle of the paddock, your daughter experiences her first pit stop as Charles and Lando try to change her diaper. Even Mick, the baby-proofing master, hovers nearby to ensure everything goes smoothly.
You can’t help but admire their dedication and the way they’ve embraced their roles as her protectors and playmates.
***
At the end of the day, you gather the whole group for a family photo. Your daughter, held by Max and Mick on either side, steals the show with her toothless grin.
As you look at the photo later, you realize that this quirky, chaotic family has grown and changed in the most beautiful ways. Your daughter has been embraced by these young drivers, who have become her brothers and protectors, just as they’ve become sons to you.
A New Racer on the Track
Years pass in the blink of an eye and soon your little girl is no longer a baby. She’s grown into a lively child with a love for speed, much like her father. Today, she’s ready to participate in her first karting race, and the whole gang — your grid kids now with seven World Championships between them — are here to support her.
As they gather around the track, an old joke resurfaces. Max points at a particular bend in the track, nudging Charles with a smirk. “Remember the inchident?”
Charles groans, rolling his eyes, “Not this again. It was years ago!”
Laughter breaks out among the group, their bond echoing through the years.
***
Before the race, each of your grid kids offers your daughter their sage advice. From Lando’s “always keep your cool” to George’s “remember to enjoy the ride,” her brothers are keen to impart their wisdom. Mick even attempts to show her how to properly do a pit stop, using a toy car and tiny plastic cones.
Your daughter, with a sparkling helmet almost too big for her head, listens earnestly, her wide eyes moving from one brother to the next.
When the race finally starts, your grid kids cheer on loudly, their voices carrying over the vroom of the karts. The sight of your daughter, determined behind the wheel of her tiny kart, brings a surge of pride and a few tears to your eyes.
As the race ends, your daughter crosses the finish line in third place, a beaming smile on her face. She’s welcomed back to the pit by a roaring cheer from her family, her brothers lifting her onto their shoulders.
***
That night, the celebration is filled with laughter, teasing, and an impromptu re-enactment of the inchident by Charles and Max, much to your daughter’s amusement.
Sebastian lifts his glass for a toast, “To our little racer, may you always find joy on the track. And remember, an inchident is only funny if it doesn’t happen to you.”
Laughter fills the room once again, and you can’t help but marvel at the love and joy surrounding you. These are the moments you cherish the most, moments of laughter and unity shared with this extraordinary, unconventional family.
As you watch your daughter being coddled and celebrated by her brothers, you realize that this legacy of love and support will always continue, and for that, you couldn’t be happier.

SEVEN DAYS A WEEK !
a/n: if u saw my post b4 — no u didnt. n*sfw under the cut
wc: 3.1k
Tumblr media Tumblr media
✶ MONDAY
(somnophilia, oral / cunnilingus, pussy slapping, fingering, clit stimuation, implied overstim)
“start of the work week, huh?” gojo’s hands are slow on your sleeping form, trailing from your chest to your thighs, kneading at it as he pulls away from your embrace gently. he can’t help but place small kisses along your skin, manoeuvring you onto your back. it’s cute how you naturally spread your legs for him. “need to show my darlin’ how much i’ll miss her tomorrow.”
he’s mumbling to no one, admiring your peaceful form in the early morning that hasn’t even bared the sun yet, getting a whiff of your scent before he’s tracing a finger over your thighs. he brings his finger closer to your cunt, a wet spot already formed on the fabric; satoru slyly smiles — you always get wet easily in the morning.
peeling away your underwear, his breath fans over your needy pussy and gojo doesn’t miss the way you twitch. he blows a little at your core, smiling when you whine and shift in your sleep, and it’s reason enough for him to dig in. he licks a slow stripe from bottom to top, collecting your slick on his tongue, your legs opening to get more of him.
slowly, gojo sucks at your clit, breathing through his nose while he takes his rightful place between your legs, eyes occasionally flicking up to catch the moment you’re waking up. but when you do, it’s with soft whimpers and languid pleas, words slurring as you come to find satoru slobbering over your pussy. your hands unconsciously fly to his hair, moaning loudly when he hums into your sex.
“feel good?” gojo murmurs, a hand teasing the skin beside your sensitive areas before he’s plunging a finger into you. he groans at how your walls wrap around his lone finger, increasing his ministrations by the second when you whimper out s’good that it’s got him mindlessly eating you out, letting out moans now and then from how you tug on his hair.
he’s got you cumming easily when he inserts a second, back arching with whispers of satoru on your lips, and you think he’s going to have some mercy unlike other mondays, but your head sinks deeper into the pillow when gojo starts to lap at your dripping cunt again, sensitivity at its peak when he laughs into your core.
“it’s the start of a new week,” satoru chuckles when he lands a few wet smacks on your pussy and your body shakes with the impact, “gotta be sure my baby knows how much she’s loved.”
Tumblr media
✶ TUESDAY
(phone sex, m masturbation, gojo has the hots for your voice, dirty talk)
it was a day-long mission for gojo, sent to hokkaido in the late morning that within an hour of him leaving, you’re already texting him and making jokes that remain unanswered and you’re left to your own devices until the evening comes around that you get a call.
“didn’t they say the curse would come out at night?” you mumble, mindlessly stirring the soup in the pot while satoru on the line just sighs. you think it’s fatigue, but it’s entirely different on gojo’s end. he explains how the curse never attacked at night in the first place — the ability to create a mini veil was all it took for you to understand. the villagers think it’s night, while they’re left vulnerable in the daytime that they think they’re safe in.
you huff, wanting to ask more but you’re cut off by satoru who asks about your day and who seems… strangely winded. “ well, if you really wanna know…” your voice trails off when you’re telling him what went on today, hearing the other get progressively breathy on the other end.
“’toru? you okay?” maybe he was in the mission right now, fighting with you on the line, but that’s out of the picture when a soft moan leaves his mouth.
you see, satoru was a filthy guy, obsessed with the way you spoke that he just had to pull out his cock that’s half-hard when you talked on about that annoying neighbour who hung his laundry in your side of the flat, or even how you put too much sugar in the soup despite gojo not being there. the cadence of your voice, paired with your sweet words.
“yeah? and then what happened?” he’s shamelessly asks you with a breathy whimper, hands squeezing around his cock so warmly he wishes it was yours. you didn’t even hear the zip of his pants but you’re switching off the stove instantly, listening at the edge of your seat to the slick wet noises that increase in frequency.
“and then i’ll talk until my cute boyfriend cums like a little virgin,” you giggle when he groans into the receiver at having been found out, fist moving faster around his cock until it’s the only thing you can hear. it’s so attractive, having gojo satoru fucking his hand in some hokkaido hotel, beads of sweat probably dripping down his head at not having you there.
“wish this was your mouth, baby…” gojo whines out, a mixture of “fuck’s” and your name flooding the line and you’re just telling him what else you’d do to him, maybe i’ll swirl my tongue ’round your tip, ’toru, take your cock all the way down my throat, hm?
you grin when all you can hear is the still of his fist and a loud, sultry moan on the other end. ah, you loved it.
Tumblr media
✶ WEDNESDAY
(69-ing, oral (m and f receiving), clit stimulation, calls u ‘slut’ and ‘whore’, fingering, deepthroating, cumming down throat)
“filthy slut, hm?” you’re rolling your eyes, tugging on the dick in your hand while gojo just yelps, laughing in surrender. “okay, okay, i’ll shut up and eat my girl’s pussy like she deserves it.” even when you go back to stroking his still hardening cock, your lover is admiring the leak of your juices from your cunt, dripping so viscously onto his chest.
“satoru, it’s not going to eat i—” gojo always liked to pull you in, and then make you speechless instantly after. he spreads your cheeks, tugging your pelvis towards his mouth, “ooh, shit…” all you can hear are the muffled chuckles of the other, moans cutting past his messy eating habits when your fist start to pump his cock again. you thumb his tip, collecting the pre-cum.
you do exactly as you told him last night, circling your tongue around his weeping tip and his hands tighten on your ass, tongue moving from your clit to your gaping hole. you clench around nothing when gojo’s cock jolts in your mouth before your mouth descends on him and you’re bobbing your head, moaning around his length when you feel two fingers prod at your entrance.
“suckin’ me off so well, it’d be a shame if i don’t give my princess the same treatment,” gojo sighs when his fingers disappears in you, knowing you like it when you go slack around his dick and your tongue stops, struggling to keep a right mind when he’s got his thick, long fingers in you. “yeah… i know a little whore like you loves this.”
he starts to thrust his fingers into you, holding down your hips that start to move. he tuts, “ah. keep it movin’, baby.”
you grunt at his incessant teasing, mouth getting to work again as you start to inch him into your mouth, breathing through your nose when you’re up to his hilt and his pubes are all up in your face. you’re coming off to whimper when he angles his fingers downwards and his tongue is back on you, not stopping the squeeze of your hand on his shaft as you drool from the corners of your mouth, eyes rolling back when you feel his hips thrust lightly into you.
“that’s it, sweetness…” gojo moans around your pussy, blissed out from how warm and wet your mouth is, along with the way your pussy looks right in front of him, surprising you with a squeal when his hips impatiently snap into your mouth, cumming with a fervour and loud moans against your slick skin, pumping your throat full of his cum. you hum around him, letting his thick load warm your insides before you’re pulling off of him with a sigh, smiling at the way his tip still manages to push out its last drops.
your small triumph is interrupted by gojo who adds a third finger and he hisses when your hand tightens around his cock, “your turn, b-baby.”
Tumblr media
✶ THURSDAY
(riding, sorta sub!gojo, implied multiple rounds, overstim, unprotected sex, creampie / breeding kink)
“baby—” gojo whines out, fatigued from the week of missions and classes that he feels like his body could collapse, but you’re energetic as always, having cummed two times yet your hips still continue to grind onto his pelvis like a minx. there’s already a translucent ring of cum around the base of his cock, and while you love the cum he’s pumped into you, you’re just sooo needy tonight — the pure pleasure on satoru’s face and his shivering hands are just the cherry on top.
“g-god, shit,” satoru moans out, even when he’s grabbing at your thighs to stop, there’s the unmistakable humps of his hips because his cum sticks to your skin and dribbles out of your pussy so sweetly he can’t help but fixate on it.
“’toru— feel so fucking good—!” the way your ass bounces against his pelvis sends him reeling, the ability for words lost to the way your cunt wraps around him like a cocksleeve; all he can manage are guttural groans leaving his mouth while he lets you use him to the brink.
“g’nna cum, satoru?” you mumble, body dripping with sweat as your hips start to falter, “gimme all your cum, baby boy.”
satoru whimpers at that, roaming hands feeling around your body that settle for your tits, squeezing while yours tug on his hair. your cunt just feels too good that he thrusts up to meet you too, reaching so deep into you that you’re cumming.
the clench around his length has gojo shooting his hot cum inside you, whining out your name while he pumps your pussy full of a third load and you’re trembling from the feeling. you can only giggle drunkenly, leaving a whimpering satoru to hold down your hips that continues to grind on his sensitive cock.
Tumblr media
✶ FRIDAY
gojo likes paybacks, especially now when he’s got your face shoved into the kitchen sink of a private showroom, checking out just the right height to fuck you on and eat you out from. his cursed energy easily messes with the security cameras, and he’s locked out the staff with convincing words and a sweet smile, all so he could shut you up with his cock.
“s-satoru— what if they see—” despite your words (gojo likes to fuck the voice of reasoning out of you) you’re moaning while you’re moving back onto him, a hand clutching onto his forearm with pussy clenching around him.
“like you give a shit,” gojo breathlessly says, relishing in the line down the middle of your back, your arch, how your ass bounces with each thrust. “think we should go with a quartz countertop?”
of course he’d ask stupid questions while balls deep in you, “it’s expensive— oh, fuck! stop spending your money so—”
you slouch against the counter on a deep thrust, a loud mewl leaving your lips, nails digging into his forearm and he has the audacity to hiss while he’s the one who’s fucking you in a goddamn showroom.
“quartz, it is,” satoru only laughs and you’re ashamed to admit that it turns you on, having so much control over you that you clamp down on his length again and gojo groans softly, reaching around your front to rub your clit, pressing the nub into you like he knows the buttons that just make you twitch. the way the sorcerer rams into you is too much and you need both hands to support you, cringing a little when your nails scratch the finishing on the countertop.
“haaah… gonna fill you up, baby—” gojo mumbles out to no one, the circles on your clit turning erratic and your legs spread to take more of him, feeling the wave of your orgasm crash down on you the same time gojo cums in you, cum so thick and much that when he pulls himself out it drips out your cunt and onto the floor.
you two look to the floor and back at each other, stifling a laugh before you’re cleaning up, yelping when gojo lands a hard smack! to your ass and wraps an arm around your waist.
he doesn’t miss the way you pick at your nails filled with flakes of the cheap counter, “let’s go find a real quartz countertop.”
Tumblr media
✶ SATURDAY
(geto is not evil here, sharing, clit stimulation, oral / cunnilingus, slight nipple play, gojo’s a little jealous aw :(, protected sex w/ geto, praise)
“was this what you had in mind?” your lover asks, cooing at your cries and nods as he stays fully clothed, littering kisses along your neck and jaw. your back was against his chest, causing you to brush up against the uncomfortable tent in his pants, but he’s able to hold himself back for now when he’s enjoying the way his best friend eats you out.
“she tastes good, doesn’t she?” gojo calls out from behind you, helping the other by spreading your legs while the other goes around your waist, a possessive hand around you to tell the dark-haired sorcerer that you’re his. geto only could hum into your pussy, and you note it’s a little different from how satoru eats you out. you weren’t entirely a stranger to your boyfriend’s best friend, but this was the first time you’ve been spread apart so filthily in front of him.
you’re nodding after two orgasms later when they both ask you if you’re okay, geto’s tip waiting at your entrance before he pushes himself slowly into you, tensing against the sheer girth of the other. where gojo was slimmer and longer, geto was a little thicker, and gojo feels just a little pull on his heart when he sees your jaw drop.
“you’re doing so good, sweetheart,” he softly praises, locking eyes with his best friend when he sinks into your warmth. it’s not long before he’s swallowing your pleas as geto starts to move, the kiss lewd as gojo slips his tongue into your mouth, mumbling praises when the other sets a comfortable pace.
“she takes a cock so well,” the dark-haired man says breathlessly while gojo focuses on the way his best friend fucks into you, the pussy he knows like the back of his hand sucking the other in so nicely that it’s even a blessing geto gets to see it. he can feel your juices seep past his pants, hearing a soft pant of satoru when his hands come to rest at your tits, pinching your nipples lightly. suguru grunts at the way you clamp down on him, too lost in the tightness of your cunt to notice how you’re mainly focused on gojo and your love for him.
“good girl,” satoru only mutters into your skin, locking eyes with you when his hand finds your clit. he knows you know you belong to him when he watches your eyes flutter close, “that’s a good girl f’r me.”

✶ SUNDAY
(spitting, morning sex, praise, unprotected sex, creampie / breeding kink, implied multiple rounds, finger sucking, gojo loves u a lot!)
“hey, satoru,” you hum, waking up with a familiar ache in your core that you knew only gojo could quell. his best friend was gone by the morning, leaving just the both of you on his king-sized. “are you awake?”
gojo stirs and softly whispers an i’m awake now, cracking his eyes open, not before needing to take a minute to just admire your morning stare and words. they’re always hooded and slurred, the hunger for you and jealousy from the previous night taking over him. his hands are wandering, pulling you atop him easily.
it’s not long before gojo’s slipping into you from above you, cock an angry red just from kissing you, “so tight, baby. no matter how much your pussy’s molded to fit my cock— f-fuck— you’ll still be tight as shit.”
you smile. you’ve caught wind of satoru’s feelings of green last night, confirmed when you bid goodbye to his best friend with a laugh from the other how you should treat him well this morning. wrapping your legs around his middle, you’re whining a little from how bit by bit, gojo’s bottoming out in you before he finds a slow pace, succumbing to his body weight on yours.
“satoru…s’full,” gojo’s eyes stay fixated on yours, hot breath sending your skin tingling with goosebumps while your pussy drips pure nectar, lewd sounds amplified by the slap of his hips against yours. even if he wants to go slow, gojo is insanely drunk on your gummy walls and the way they wrap snugly around his dick, ears blessed with the way you call out for him.
with a thumb, he yanks at your mouth and he softly moans at how fast you stick your tongue out. it’s an unspoken gesture, hips never stopping even as a ball of spit leaves your lover’s mouth with a gradual drag and lands on your tongue, still connected by the web of saliva that stretches until it’s all in your mouth, an attagirl lingering on his lips.
you bring his forehead to yours after, hands grasping at his hair and neck while there’s fire exchanged between his striking blue ones and yours while you’re babbling that you’ve reached your high and gojo almost tears at the way you cry out for him as you cum, at the way you try your best to hold your ground but his cock is just splitting you open so well and the intensity of your orgasm is making you tremble, at the way you’re like this for only him.
but the one sentence that sets him off, “wan’ you to cum in me, ’toru,” you’re whimpering out, arms going around him and legs closing around his hips just to get him closer to you even after you’ve cummed. you ignore the overstimulation of your climax, “breed me, baby.”
and satoru has no choice but to listen to his girl, capturing your lips right as his thrusts start to stutter and he’s cumming deep in you, moans escaping from the kiss and mewls leaving you at the gush of his cum in you, white and hot and so much of it. gojo cries into your skin as you milk him dry, clenching down around him like you don’t want to let him go.
“so much cum just f’you, princess,” satoru chokes out, feeling himself getting hard again from your pleasure-filled face, especially when he sees your juices mixing below him. he takes a hand, smearing them around your clit and he can feel his breath hitching when you grab the hand and stuff his fingers into your mouth.
you’re swirling your tongue around his fingers, voice hoarse.
“use me, satoru,” your other hand dance along his cheek and he thinks he might be blessed with a goddess’ touch, “use me until i’m full of your cum.”

part 1
Tumblr media
Tara woke up with the world's biggest headache. When she sat up in the random bed she had just awakened in, she realized she was in a completely unfamiliar room. The walls were white, with some paintings here and there, and the room was filled with a faint scent of lavender.
Tara left the bed, her head pounding with each step she took. She stumbled towards the door, trying to remember how she ended up in this strange place.
As she makes her way down the hallway, coffee begins to fill her nostrils. She follows the scent and finds herself in a cozy kitchen, where a pot of freshly brewed coffee sits on the counter. "You're awake, a voice says from behind her.
Startled, Tara turns around to see her professor, and suddenly, all of her memories rush back to her.
"Leaving already?" Frankie asks, raising an eyebrow. Tara hesitates, unsure of how to respond. She just nods, "Yeah, my... my rides here." Frankie keeps his gaze fixed on her, his expression unreadable. Tara can feel the weight of his scrutiny, making her even more uncomfortable.
"Oh damn, well, let me walk you out." Frankie offers, breaking the silence. Tara's heart races as they make their way towards the exit, unsure of what's going on. It was obvious Frankie wanted to get into her pants; he'd been following her the entire night.
You notice Tara at the exit, looking slightly flustered and uneasy. You quickly exit your car and walk to her. "You're her ride?" A brown-haired boy asks you.
"Yeah, I'm her ride," you confirm, giving the boy a curious look. The brown-haired boy gives you a skeptical look before reluctantly stepping aside, allowing you to approach Tara. As you reach her side, you offer a reassuring smile, hoping to ease her discomfort.
Tara's eyes drop to your attire, taking in your sleepwear. A wife-beater and black boxers that matched your black Nike socks. You notice this, "Sorry, I just woke up about five minutes ago."
"All good...Professor." Tara smiles. You shake your head, "Y/N is just fine. You're in my kitchen, after all. No need for formalities." Tara blushes and nods, "Right, sorry. Y/N it is then."
You chuckle softly, "No need to apologize, Tara. Can I offer you some coffee?" Tara gratefully accepts the offer, "I could definitely use a cup. Thank you, Y/N." She takes a seat at the kitchen table as you start pouring a fresh cup of coffee.
"Do you need me to drop you off?" Tara tries to take a sip of her coffee, but it's too hot, causing her to wince in pain spilling a bit on her hand. "Shit! That's hot!" Tara exclaims, quickly pulling her hand away from the cup. You rush to grab a napkin, softly grasping her hand and gently wiping away the spilled coffee.
"But, um, yeah, I'd love a ride if you don't mind," Tara mutters, ignoring the fluttering of her heart as you touch her hand. She tries to hide her blush by taking a deep breath and looking away, but the warmth of your touch lingers.
"Of course." Your phone begins ringing, interrupting the moment. You quickly apologize and grab your phone from the kitchen counter. You answer the phone without looking at the caller ID. A deep voice on the other end of the line.
"Hello, Y/N." You scratch your head, trying to place the voice. It sounds vaguely familiar, but you can't quite place it.
The voice clears its throat, and your ear is soon filled with Laura's laugh. "Haven't you watched Stab?"
"Ohhh! Yeah, I just did yesterday." You chuckle, realizing that the deep voice was an imitation of a character from the movie. "How's your mom? She doing better?"
Laura's laughter subsides as she replies, "She's slowly recovering, thanks for asking. The doctors say she should be back on her feet in a few weeks." You feel relieved to hear the positive update about Laura's mom and express your well wishes for her continued recovery.
"Anywho! I was just calling because I wanted to know how your first lecture was. Did everyone behave?"
You chuckle and respond, "Well, it was definitely an interesting experience. The students were well-behaved, and I was actually surprised by their level of engagement. It seems like they're all eager to learn and participate in class discussions."
Laura hums over the phone, "Are you sure you're talking about my students?" You laugh and say, "Seriously. They were great." Laura pauses for a moment before replying, "That's good...I have to go now, take care, Y/N."
You bid Laura farewell and promise to keep her updated on any future classroom developments. Tara speaks up when you set down your phone, "Was that Professor Crane?" You nod and say, "Yes, it was. She was just checking in on you guys."
Tara nods, taking a sip of her now slightly cooled-down coffee. "I'm going to take a shower, and I'll be back in a bit. Let me know whenever you're ready to leave."
"Wait, uh, do you know where my phone is?" Tara asks, glancing around the room. You remember plugging it up near the kitchen counter when you arrived home yesterday.
You point towards the kitchen counter and say, "I think it's over there, by the sink." Tara thanks you and heads towards the kitchen to retrieve it, but her head turns as she watches you leave the room, pulling your tank top over your head, revealing your toned back.
Blushing slightly, Tara quickly averts her gaze and focuses on finding her phone.
When Tara finally finds her phone, she realizes that she has missed several calls and messages, mostly from Sam.
But her heart truly drops when she realizes your name is at the top of her messages, remembering that she did indeed text you drunk the previous night.
Tara's mind races as she tries to recall what she said, hoping she hasn't embarrassed herself or said anything inappropriate. "You've got to be kidding me."
Tara mutters under her breath, scrolling through her messages with you. This was so embarrassing, and she couldn't believe she had let herself get so out of control.
"The hot professor whose filling in for Ms.Crane? What the fuck?" Tara's eyes widen in disbelief as she reads her own words. She had confessed her attraction to her substitute professor, not realizing how much she had revealed in her drunken state. Panic sets in as she wonders what your reaction to the message might have been.
Tara's phone dings, indicating a new message.
Mindy: Tara where the hell r u?
Mindy:  Sam is literally is losing her marbles
Shit.
Tara: im about to leave in about 15 minutes
Mindy: that didn't answer my question lollll
Tara: just tell sam im on the way
Mindy: omg you're at professor y/ln's house
Tara's heart races as she reads Mindy's message. How did Mindy know she was at your house? She quickly types a response, trying to come up with something to get Mindy off her back.
Tara: wtf? no?
Tara: ill ttyl

The next couple of months consisted of Tara staying back after every lecture to talk to you. Now, you didn't exactly mind, but it did make you wonder why she was suddenly so interested in your company. Tara wouldn't talk about her studies, rather, she would ask you about your personal life, your hobbies, and your opinions on various topics.
Or whenever you'd be leaving campus or just arriving, Tara would leave her friends, jog over to you, and strike up a conversation. It seemed like she always found a reason to be near you, whether it was wanting to walk together or simply to share a funny story. Her genuine interest in getting to know you better was both flattering and intriguing.
"That's all for today, guys." You tell the class, packing up your things. Everyone begins leaving—well, everyone except for Tara. You shuffle your papers together, double-checking that you have everything, before looking up to find Tara still standing by your desk.
"Did you watch The Hereditary?" She had mentioned the movie a few times before, and you could tell she really wanted you to watch it. You smile and reply, "Yes, I did! Scared the shit out of me."
Tara laughs, "I thought you said you liked scary movies?" You begin walking toward the door. "I do!"
"What's your favorite scary movie?" Tara asks, genuinely curious. You pause for a moment, thinking of all the horror films you've seen over the years. "Hmm, that's a tough one," you say, pondering. "Maybe Chucky."
"You're joking," Tara says, raising an eyebrow. "Chucky? The killer doll? That's more of a cheesy horror movie than a scary one." You shrug and defend your choice. "Well, it scared me when I was younger. Plus, it has that nostalgic factor for me."
Tara chuckles and shakes her head playfully, saying, "Alright, if you say so. But I'll have to introduce you to some truly terrifying films one day."
You smile, holding the door open for the shorter girl. "Sure, T." Tara ignores the fluttering in her stomach at the nickname, striking up another conversation. "You heading home?"
You nod and reply, "Yeah, I was planning on making this salmon dish I found a recipe for. The sauce is supposed to be really flavorful, and I've been craving seafood lately." Tara hums, "Sounds fun."
You pause your walk, making eye contact with your student. "Maybe you could come...?"
Tara's eyes widen with surprise, but a smile tugs at the corners of her lips. "That sounds like a plan," she says, "What time?"
You check your watch and say, "How about around 7 p.m.? That should give me enough time to prepare everything." Tara nods eagerly, "Okay." You thank her and continue walking, "See you, T."
-
You were more than tipsy, this might have been the most fun you've had in a while. "I feel like a bad influence." You joke to Tara, pouring her another glass of wine. Tara laughs, "You're a perfect influence. You know how to have a good time."
You shake your head, standing up. "You can sit in the living room, I'm just gonna clear the table." Tara smiles and takes a sip of her wine. "Don't worry about it, I'll help you clean up."
Tara sets down her glass, standing up and helping you gather the dirty dishes and leftover food. Everything about this feels so domestic like you two are a married couple tidying up after a dinner party.
You start washing the dishes while Tara dries them and puts them away. The conversation flows effortlessly, making the task feel less like a chore and more like a shared experience.
On the last plate, you splash some soapy water onto Tara's shirt, causing her to let out a surprised gasp. "Oops, sorry about that!" you jokingly apologize, grinning mischievously.
Tara playfully flicks some water back at you, making you let out a laugh. "Oh, it's on now!" you exclaim, grabbing a nearby dish towel and flicking it towards Tara.
Tara runs out of the kitchen, laughing and dodging the dish towel, her wet shirt clinging to her as she goes. You turn off the water and chase after her, determined to catch her. While you reach the living room, Tara takes a sharp turn, causing you to stumble for a moment.
You quickly regain your balance and continue the chase, both of you enjoying the playful pursuit.
"I give up!" Tara calls out, breathless and giggling, as she collapses onto the couch. You slow down and join her, catching your breath and collapsing beside her.
You glance at her shirt, "Do you want one of my shirts?" Tara looks down at her damp shirt and shakes her head, still catching her breath. "No, I think I'll be fine," she replies with a smile.
Your eyes fall back on Tara, her cheeks flushed and her hair slightly disheveled from the chase. You know you shouldn't be thinking about your student in this way, but it's hard to ignore the undeniable chemistry between you. And she was absolutely gorgeous.
You're caught up in your thoughts, you don't even notice how your body is subconsciously scooting closer to her, until your knees are almost touching. The air between you feels charged with tension, and you can't help but wonder if she feels it too.
A part of you wants to reach out and brush a strand of hair behind her ear, but professional boundaries hold you back.
Tara turns her head slightly, her eyes meeting yours, and for a moment, you both share a knowing smile. Fuck, why did she have to look at you like that?
The intensity of the moment lingers, making it difficult to focus on anything else. You find yourself questioning the consequences of acting on this undeniable connection.
Tara leans in, and you follow behind slowly. You don't notice what you're doing until your noses brush against each other, sending a jolt of electricity through your body.
Tara parts her lips slightly, her warm breath tickling your skin. You place a hand on her leg, closing the distance between you. Your lips meet in a passionate and electrifying kiss, leaving you breathless and craving more.
You place your hand on Tara's waist, pulling her closer to you and allowing her to straddle you. Tara can't help but respond, her hands finding their way to your hair as she pulls you in even closer.
When you pull away, your heart is racing as if you had just run a marathon. You knew what you were doing was wrong, but in that moment, it felt so right. The chemistry between you and Tara was undeniable, and the desire for each other was too strong to resist.
Your hand rises to Tara's face, your thumb tracing over her soft, plump lips. She closes her eyes, and a moan escapes her mouth. You kiss her lightly, your tongue tracing the outline of her mouth. She responds with a slow, passionate kiss, her lips trembling as you pull away.
"Please," she mumbles, grinding her hips against yours. "Fuck, T." What was this girl doing to you? Without hesitation, you capture her lips once more, this time with an electrifying fervor that leaves you both breathless. In that moment, you knew that there was no going back, you were stuck under her spell.
Your hands slither under her shirt, exploring the curves of her body, feeling the heat radiating from her skin. She moans softly, encouraging you to continue your exploration, and you do.
Skillfully, you unclasp her bra, and your fingers trace the outline of her breasts, teasing and caressing every inch of her sensitive skin. She arches her back, pressing herself closer to you, craving more of your touch.
You lift her shirt, revealing her bare chest, and your lips eagerly find their way to her exposed skin. The taste of her drives you wild, and you lose yourself in the moment, savoring every sweet and intoxicating sensation.
Your hands fly back to her waist, lifting her slightly as your lips trail to her stomach, leaving a trail of soft kisses along the way.
She lets out a soft moan, her fingers tangling in your hair as she surrenders to the pleasure coursing through her body. Tara's breath hitches when you stand up, picking her up with ease. You carry her effortlessly to the bedroom, her legs wrapped around your waist, her body pressed against yours.
One thing is, you don't make it to the bed. Tara's back is now pressed against a wall, her heart pounding in her chest. You lean in closer, capturing her lips with yours as your hands roam over her body. You couldn't get enough.
You flip Tara, pressing her against the wall with a newfound intensity. Tara gasp, her eyes rolling back in pleasure, feeling your strong grip on her hips and your lips trailing down her neck.
Your hands trail to her jeans button, fumbling to undo it as the passion between you increases. Tara's breath hitches as you slide down her pants, along with her underwear, exposing her bare skin to the cool air.
Without hesitating, you drop to your knees, eager to taste her. A loud slap is heard, followed by a gasp of surprise. Tara bites down on her lip, balling up her fist against the wall, feeling you spread her legs for better access.
You lean in closer, your tongue teasing her entrance as Tara's moans fill the room. Oh, shit. You were officially addicted to this girl. Every touch and every sound she made only fueled your obsession for her.
You couldn't get enough of the way she responded to your touch, her body arching and trembling with pleasure. Or the way she tasted, leaving a permanent mark on your tongue.
"Fuck..." Tara gasps, the side of her face flat against the wall as her hips buck against your mouth. You remove one of your hands from her ass, holding her hips steady as you continue to devour her.
Tara whines in response, reaching behind to tangle her fingers in your hair, urging you to keep going. Her moans grow louder, and her grip tightens. "I'm so close, shit..."
You intensify your movements, your tongue skillfully exploring every inch of her, pushing her closer to the edge. Tara's breath becomes ragged, you grip her with greater force, and she becomes more and more undone, on the brink of exploding in pleasure.
And just as she's about to tip over the edge, she lets out a guttural cry, her body convulsing in ecstasy.
"Y/N! Shit!"
You stand up, and Tara catches her breath, her body still trembling from the intense orgasm.
While Tara attempts to compose herself, you unbuckle your belt and slowly remove your pants and underwear, revealing your own heightened state of arousal.
Tara's eyes widen when she feels your intense desire pressing against her. You press a kiss onto her head, whispering, "I need you, Tara."
Tara turns her head, meeting you with a lustful gaze. Her lips parted slightly as she whispers, "I want you too, Y/N." You place a soft kiss on the freckled face that you've come to adore before taking yourself, rubbing against her in a slow, teasing motion.
Tara's wetness lubricates you, allowing you to slip right in with a breathful gasp. As you enter her, Tara arches her back and lets out a low moan, her body responding eagerly to your touch.
The feeling of her tightness around you heightens the nirvana, driving you both insane.
You pick up the pace, your hips meeting hers in a delicious rhythm. Each thrust sends waves of pleasure coursing through both of your bodies—a symphony of desire and passion.
Tara's arm reaches around, her nails dig into your neck while her moans grow louder and more desperate with every movement.
Tara's hand falls back against the wall as she braces herself against the overwhelming pleasure. Your own hand falls on top of hers, and for a second, Tara finds herself caught between the intensified sensations and the tender touch of your hand.
She exhales a breath of pleasure, and her eyes roll back in pleasure. You lean in to kiss her neck, and she moans in response. You move your lips down to her shoulder, leaving a trail of soft kisses along her skin. "You feel so good, T." You groan, your voice thick with please.
This time, without warning, Tara lets go, a long and loud moan escaping her lips as she arches her back in ecstasy.
She collapses against your chest, her eyes half closed, catching her breath as her body trembles with satisfaction. You hold her tightly, savoring the intimate moment shared between you both.
As you slowly untangle yourselves from the intimate embrace, Tara wraps her arms around your neck and plants a soft kiss on your lips.
You smile into it, placing a hand on the small of her back, pulling her closer. The lingering taste of her lips lingers on yours, igniting a drive for more.
Tara moves onto her knees with your help, never breaking eye contact. Her hand wraps around your pulsating shaft before she kisses the tip, her tongue swirling around it.
The sensation sends a jolt of pleasure through your body, making you moan softly. You grab Tara's hair, guiding her movements as she takes you deeper into her mouth. "That feels great, shit..." you mutter, throwing your head back.
Tara's expert tongue continues to work its wonders, teasing and exploring every inch of you.
You begin moving your hips in rhythm with Tara's movements, finding a steady and pleasurable pace.
The hallway fills with the sounds of your heavy breathing and the wet, persistent slurping of Tara's mouth. "Yeah...just like that, Tara."
Your grip on her hair tightens, urging her on as she eagerly takes you deeper, her eyes watering at the sensation. You feel yourself getting closer and closer to the edge.
With a grunt, you cum hard, your body shuddering in pleasure as Tara's lips move over your shaft. She keeps sucking until you finally pull away, a satisfied smile on your face.
You feel yourself getting closer and closer to the edge. With a grunt, you cum hard, your body shuddering in pleasure as Tara's lips move over your shaft. She keeps sucking until you finally pull away, a satisfied smile on your face.
Tara can't help but think about how this night will shift your relationship. She wonders if this newfound intimacy will bring you closer or create complications that she didn't want to deal with. As you catch your breath, Tara's thoughts wander to the potential consequences of crossing this line.

I have an a request!!! What about boy dad gojo taking care of his son while his s/o is sick? Maybe he takes him to work and face time her with his son when he has a break or between classes?? And his son misses her a lot cause it’s his first time seeing her sick🥹
➳  minors / ageless / blank blogs dni   ➳  tags: fluff; dad gojo and son reader
"mama! wanna talk to mama!"
"easy, tiger," satoru consoles, using his long arm to pull the phone away from his son's grabbing fingers.
"dada, wanna talk to mama!" his son insists, inching his body forward which prompts satoru to adjust his legs so his boy doesn't climb off his thighs. using his other hand, the sorcerer lightly runs his fingers through his child's soft locks to calm down his excitement while and in the meantime taps away at the screen to video call you.
"there you go," he whispers as he brings the phone to his son's line of sight, his heart swelling when you finally answer the call.
"hi," you croak softly, your voice thick and hoarse while you rub your tired eyes. "what time is it?"
"it's lunch-"
"mama!" your son interrupts, his small hands curling over satoru's fingers as he holds both sides of the screen. "mama, miss you!"
"hey, cutie", you reply with a tiny smile, but satoru can see the exhaustion weighing heavy on your face. "miss you soo much,"
you've been sick for the last four days. a terrible cold that's kept you bedridden. satoru and your son have been isolating to make sure that they don't catch what you have, but your boys have been wallowing without you around. your son has been extra needy and keeps bringing up his "mama" every chance he can get. satoru is in the same position as well, hating that he can't cuddle up to you in the middle of the night, or that he can't wake up to your good morning kisses.
"mama sick," your son says with a furrow of his brows, moving his hand over the screen like he's trying to touch your face. "mama get better ok?"
he's still learning his words, trying to form whatever sentences he can with the vocabulary that he has.
you nod your head, "yeah, baby, I'll be better soon,"
your son smiles at the camera, his eyes twinkling with delight. "kisses!" he announces, before leaning forward and pressing his lips onto the phone screen.
you blow him back three kisses in return.
at this point satoru can't help but feel a little left out, so he arches forward to rest his chin on his son's shoulder, the two of them now centering the screen.
it's wild seeing them both together because they really do look like twins. your son's hair stands as a harsh contrast because it is identical to yours, but his eyes are a blend of your love. there's an icy blue that pierces through his natural color on the left side, a unique trait that distinguishes him entirely.
"can I get some kisses too?" satoru pouts at the camera, and your son obliges but placing one kiss on his cheek.
satoru can't help but grin, "thanks, rugrat, but I was hoping the kisses would come from your mama..."
"but mama sick," your son answers nonchalantly, twisting his body slightly so he was turning toward's his father's instead.
"she just blew you some kisses," he answers back with a raised brow. "I can't get any?"
your son blatantly shakes his head no.
satoru deadpans at the phone screen, and you have to use the blanket to cover your amused grin but you clear your throat as a cough escapes you, and satoru can't help but wince.
"how are you feeling? is the medicine helping at all?" he adds.
"yeah, it is. I'm feeling much better today actually."
"there's a pot of soup in the fridge " he continues, his cheeks tinting a slight shade of pink. "I made it last night"
satoru toiling away in the kitchen is a rare sight. the man grew up spoiled, and rarely ever had to take care of himself. you're the only person who knows that the first time he ever touched a stove was in his late teens, with shoko and suguru assisting in teaching him. he doesn't experiment much, but he was able to perfect a handful of recipes over time.
your eyes widen, glisten with absolute love. "thanks, handsome. I'll be sure to heat some up..."
"just want to see you back on your feet, angel," satoru murmurs, and presses his cheek against' the plush surface of his son's. "you've got us pining over here, isn't that right?"
your son nods his head, bringing one hand to hold his father's jaw. "sick bad, want mama t'get better now..." he acknowledges.
(meanwhile, you sneakily take a screenshot of the two of them in frame)
requests are open for dad gojo.

Bath Time Gone Wrong [Part One]
an: a huge thanks to @satorini for the prompt that produced this. Let's see if this goes anywhere... it sure has potential.
prompt: Your best friend lets you crash at her place over the spring break since you have nowhere else to go. Little did you know that it isn't actually her place. Instead, it belongs to a tall (grumpy) hot guy who finds you in his apartment–her brother.
pairing: Nanami Kento x female reader
warnings: none, SFW
Series Masterlist | Part Two
Tumblr media
You couldn’t believe your luck. Not only was your friend clearly loaded, they had immaculate taste as well. All of this you might never have discovered if it hadn’t been for a miscommunication that left you with no place to stay over spring break.
It would be wrong to blame your parents for forgetting that you would be coming home for the two week break, instead arranging for the family home to be renovated whilst they cruised to goodness knows where, but you still felt that stab of disappointment and hurt in your gut. One phone call to confirm dates would have fixed that, but no, what was done was done.
Instead, you found yourself in a penthouse apartment that your friend from college said you could use as it was currently sitting empty. Those were Karin’s exact words, “Don’t worry about it, the place is empty anyways. May as well make the most of it!”
Whistling through your teeth, you did a slow 360 spin of the entranceway.
The moment your Uber had pulled up outside the building you had an inkling that the inside was going to be luxurious, and you were dead right. The penthouse apartment on the very top floor needed a code and a swipe of a keycard to access by elevator. Your fingers fumbled on the keypad in your nervous excitement, only blowing out a breath of relief when you began to move smoothly upward.
As the doors opened, you found that the apartment was almost entirely open plan with panoramic windows of the cityscape lining the length of the wall in front of you. “Well, fuck…”
The decor wasn’t quite minimalist, there were too many home comforts to allow for that, but everything was clean lines and muted colour palettes. The sprawling couch scattered with one too many throw pillows, a basket of neatly folded blankets of every type of thickness tucked into the corner and a lush potted plant with long spiky green leaves all added that homely touch that true minimalist apartments lacked.
It was spacious but oddly welcoming with a rich scent that permeated the air, French coffee and freshly baked bread. You wondered if there was perhaps a housekeeper or someone that stopped by every few days to keep the place ticking over.
That thought was how you found yourself exploring deeper into the apartment, searching for an occupied room or some sign of life. There were no noises to be heard, no telltale signs that a terrified housekeeper might pop out any moment and scare the bejeezus out of you. What you did find was several seemingly unused bedrooms in different colour schemes and what you assumed was the master bedroom.
What a sight.
The bed dominated the majority of the room, a thick grey duvet adorned with pillows and a turned down fleece lined blanket on top. What kind of luxury lifestyle did Karin live that she had this kind of place stashed away, unused?
Perhaps you should have peeked inside the closets or the walk-in wardrobe at the very least, but you were drawn like the proverbial moth to a flame by the enticing peek of an en-suite bathroom.
Dumping your small wheelie suitcase and hold-all by the bed, you scurried towards the pristine black and white marble decorated room. It was safe to say you were giggling like an idiot, hands clapping together at the generously sized tub and did it have jets too? Oh my gosh, it did!
In your pure unfiltered joy, you found some jasmine scented bubble bath tucked away behind the bathroom mirror, completely overlooking the men’s razor and bottle of expensive cologne that sat beside it.
A bath would be exactly the thing to begin your new adventure. You could soak, shave your legs, listen to some music and contemplate what you could get up to with your two weeks here. Oh, takeout! You could order something super decadent and pretend that this was actually your place for a little while.
The possibilities were endless.
You set your phone up in the bathroom, finding a favourite playlist and blasting the music louder than you would have done back home. No one would mind, you were alone and the noise surely wouldn’t filter to any of the apartments below.
This was going to be an amazing spring break, you could feel it.
Kento was tired. What was new?
A weary hand passed over his face as he examined his reflection in the elevator mirror. Has he always looked this tired? Maybe.
He exhaled as the doors opened into his apartment, but only two steps forward told him that something was not right. Nothing had been touched or moved in the living area or kitchen, yet an unfamiliar scent mingled with the one he was used to.
Slowly, he deposited his briefcase and shrugged out of his jacket to hang it in the closet by the front door. He kicked out of his too-tight shoes and two fingers loosened the knot of his tie whilst his frown deepened.
His home office was exactly as it should be. The same with his little gym studio. None of the unoccupied guest bedrooms were disturbed, including the one that Karin had long claimed as her own for when she visited once in a blue moon.
Had Karin decided to visit thinking that he’d be away on the business trip that was cancelled last minute? It would be just like her to do something like that, but he was certain she would have stayed away from his room—the master suite.
Now certain to find his baby sister, who was as far from being a baby than ever, somewhere within the walls of his home, he felt his temper bubble. He didn’t need to be disturbed during what was pitched to him as mandated paid time off.
Kento was already annoyed by the idea that was forced upon him earlier this afternoon, and it wasn’t until he reached his building did he begin to think perhaps it was a blessing. Honestly, he couldn’t remember the last time he had taken any vacation time. A week or so to unwind, maybe read for the first time in months, sample a new whisky imported from Scotland…
The possibilities were endless.
He spied a small suitcase open on his bed, the contents a riotous jumble that made his head pound just to look at. A trail of clothing led from the bed to the bathroom door which stood slightly ajar. Perfumed steam escaped and his teeth grit together in irritation. Music played rather loudly in his opinion, a bright bubbly song with lyrics in a different language he couldn’t understand.
Did he dare to burst into the bathroom and scare the living daylights out of his darling little sister? The idea was tempting. The only downside being that he had no interest in mistakenly seeing her in some state of undress if she hadn’t yet made it into the bath. He would listen a little longer, wait until he was sure he wasn’t going to irreparably damage both his eyesight and his psyche before acting.
Kento padded around the bed, pulling his tie off and throwing it on the pillow to deal with later. The top three buttons on his shirt unbuttoned easily and breathing became a little easier again. Not for the first time, his mood shifted again. It would be nice to see Karin, catch up and find out how school was going. There was never enough time during the holidays to really enjoy her company so maybe this was all working out for the best.
He was still going to give her the fright of her life though.
The sound of splashing reached his ears and he smiled. Memories of tormenting his little sister rose to the surface whilst he tiptoed silently towards the bathroom door. He could hear the sound of humming along to the music and he had to stifle a snort of laughter, singing was not her forte.
A strong hand gripped the edge of the door. Kento held his breath, preparing to yell. Silently, he counted to three and leapt inside.
“Boooo!”
You had never screamed so loud in your entire life. A man was standing in the doorway of the bathroom, his features twisted in amusement but quickly shifting into sheer mortification.
Water sloshed over the side of the bath, bubbles going up your nose as you pushed your body low into the fragrant water. An intruder!
“Who the fuck are you?” You yelled indignantly, anger finally overcoming the terror ripping through your heart. Whoever he was, he was tall and incredibly pissed off.
His blond hair fell into his eyes, a hand the size of a dustbin lid swiping it back only to highlight the furious scrunch of his eyebrows. Sharp hazel eyes swung between you and the wall, clearly unsure where to look. In other circumstances, you would have called him good-looking, handsome even but not when you were so very vulnerable.
He spoke, almost to himself. “You’re not Karin…”
You knew that name, it was your friend’s name. This was her pl—Shit, this wasn’t her place. You could scream.
“I’m Nanami Kento, and you’re in my bath. Who are you?”

The night air was cool and refreshing as you rolled the window down, but it went back up before you could appreciate the breeze against your skin. You shot Steve a glare who didn't acknowledge you as he drove. You didn't like uncomfortable silence, but you didn't attempt to fill the time with small talk. Not since he decided to rip you a new one in front of the team an hour ago.
You just wanted to go home.
“You have nothing to say?” Steve asked, his voice low. “Must be killing you to go this long without talking.”
You fought the urge to kick the dashboard since the car didn't do anything to you and smacking him could cause an accident. “And it must be killing you that I didn't fall in line today like a perfect little soldier,” you said with a sardonic smile. “Or would you prefer I act like a doll?”
“You ignored my direct order,” he growled as he gripped the steering wheel. For a moment you thought he’d bend or rip it away. “What the hell were you thinking?”
You sneered before facing forward. “Jesus Christ, give it a rest. You berated me enough on the quinjet and I don't need to hear it again.”
He took his eyes off the road long enough for you to see the anger brewing. “Damn right I berated you because you never listen to me.”
The tension thickened. You didn't typically argue with Steve. You went against him once and now he was saying you never listened to him? Where the hell did he get off?
“Don’t you dare lecture me about not listening to you when you’re the one who never listens to anyone,” you argued, feeling a hint of satisfaction when he clenched his jaw. “And I made the right call. I stand by that.”
The mission was a success because of your decision.
“You don't make the calls. That isn't your job,” he snapped, the tires squealing as he made a rough turn. “You could've been hurt or worse. Don't you get that?! You can be so stubborn sometimes.”
“But I wasn't hurt! And me being stubborn? Pot meet fucking kettle, Rogers!”
“Captain,” he said through his perfect teeth.
“Captain,” you scoffed, your blood boiling. “You are not my Captain right now. You're just some guy who wormed his way into driving me home after running his mouth.”
You shrieked when he slammed on the brakes, bracing yourself on the dash when he ran a hand through his blonde hair and bitterly chuckled. It was a foreign sound coming from him. One that made you shut your mouth. “Some guy? Now I’m just some guy?”
Concern flickered across your face. Yeah, you were mad, but you didn't have to push. “Steve. I mean, Captain, I-”
“I’m not just some guy and I’m not just your Captain,” he cut you off, stopping you when you reached for the door handle. “Don't even think about getting out of the car. We’re not done yet.”
“Why should I stay? So you can snap at me some more?” You mumbled. “Would you treat Bucky or Sam or anyone else like this?”
It wasn't fair to try and make him feel bad. He was your leader for a reason and he gave you an order. You didn't follow it. He had every right to be pissed off. By all means he had the right to bench you, too.
But why was he taking it personally?
All the anger fell from Steve’s face as he leaned across the seat more. “I’m sorry.”
Your gaze softened, too. “Why are you sorry?”
“For snapping the way I did,” he said with a shake of his head. “You just scared me today. I get scared every time you go into the field, but that was the first time you…”
“Didn’t listen,” you finished for him, your heart pounding when you realized just how close he was. If he leaned in any closer, his lips would be against yours.
“And you are right. I have a hard time listening to others myself,” he said, smiling when you snorted. “But I don't give you orders for you to act like a perfect soldier or doll. Just like I don't give Bucky or Sam or anyone else orders just to have things done my way. I do it to keep you as safe as possible. It would break my heart if something happened to you, sweetheart.”
Your eyes went wide. “Did you just call me ‘sweetheart’?” You asked, your stomach doing a funny flip.
He chuckled, the sound much warmer than before. “So, you do listen.”
“Most of the time,” you teased, staring into his eyes. You could see how much he cared. No wonder he took this mission to heart.
“Arguing aside, you did well,” he praised, which sent heat to your cheeks.
“Thank you, Captain. I’m sorry I scared you.”
“I’ll forgive you for ignoring my orders if you let me walk you to your door.”
“And I'll forgive you for snapping at me in front of the team if you come inside and have a drink,” you countered.
You didn't expect him to move his mouth to your ear. “I’ll only come inside if you say ‘please’,” he whispered, sending a shiver down your spine. “And that's a direct order.”

# CHEATING? ON ME? WITH HIM?
Tumblr media
SYNOPSIS: misunderstandings -> jealousy WARNINGS: suggestive, gender neutral, super long drabbles, cheating (doesn't actually happen), misunderstandings, toji is toxic, a little angsty with geto, nanami's a little corny CHARACTERS: TOJI, GETO, NANAMI
NOTE: in celebration of JJK winning 6 awards! PART: 1...
Tumblr media
the clock hit ten p.m. right as TOJI stepped into your house. he said he would be late, and he wasn’t lying. it was what he expected. until his plan got called off by his handler; somebody had beat him to the mission.
it was a pain in the ass, he’d be making no money that day. but it meant he’d have the rest of the night— and you— to himself. or so he thought.
he entered the house as he normally would, with the key you always left in the potted plant by the front door. he took his shoes off (a habit he took up while living with you) and walked leisurely toward your bedroom, but his steps slowed down as he heard your voice from the other side of your door.
“… i mean, he’s not home right now. i don’t know where he is but he said he’d be back at 3,” you spoke softly into the phone, and he heard a muffled male voice come from the speaker. you smiled and continued, “i’ll be up anyway.”
you’ll be up anyway? what the hell would you be up for and why was it of any interest to the fucker on the receiving end? toji almost stepped forward and announced his presence, but you interrupted his train of thought with a laugh.
“he’d kill you,” you still hadn’t turned around to see the man at your door, and your voice seemed a little too carefree for his taste, “i promise i won’t tell him anything.”
toji had never been one for monogamous relationships. or relationships that went further than skin-to-skin connection, really.
yet, he couldn’t deny the way his blood boiled hearing your huffs of laughter as you talked to another man. behind his back at that.
he didn’t expect the pang of betrayal to hit him— he had forgotten that feeling long ago and vowed to never remember it. but…
“uh-huh, i'll call you later. bye,” you hung up and shook your head in amusement— but your smile immediately dropped and was replaced by sheer horror at the sudden feeling of a hand wrapped tightly around both your wrists.
you always felt toji before you saw him.
he had both your hands pressed together behind your back, preventing you from you turning around. he didn't want you to see the red that coated the tips of his ears or the twitch of his jaw.
he didn't need you to know he was fuming or that you had control over his emotions.
“toji— what the hell?” he snatched your phone with his free hand, and you didn't fight it, "when did you get home?"
he didn’t answer and instead scrolled through your call log.
toji tapped on your phone, and his eyes landed on your most recent call, “fuckin’ cute that you think an unsaved number hides anything."
he scoffed at your lack of reply and continued, "you gonna tell me his name or am i gonna have to call him?”
"what are you on about?" you tried to wiggle your wrists out of his grasp but he held on tighter, pulling you toward him in the process, your back to his chest.
"you really want this shit the hard way? fine, that's on brand for you," he dialed the number, waiting (not so) patiently for the man to pick up.
the other end of the line finally picked up, and the man didn't waste any time, "hey, finally heard back from him?"
shiu kong.
toji could recognize his handler's voice anywhere, unfortunately for him. but in the moment of shock, he failed to answer and let your hands go.
you turned around to face toji and spoke into the mic, "hi shiu, yeah, he's right here."
"fushiguro, i've been blowing up your phone cause i got a job for you for real this time. couldn't reach you so i thought i'd just call you through here. so, about the mission..."
you were about to shove past toji, but he hung up and threw your phone on your bed.
"shit, thought you were planning to fuck some loser 'til i got here."
you rolled your eyes, this is what you got for trying to help shiu out, "is that what this tantrum was about? don't trust me?"
and yeah, thinking about it from his perspective, the conversation sounded extremely suspicious. but his reaction was... somewhat endearing for someone who's supposedly 'non-chalant'.
toxic? sure. but you knew what you signed up for.
"can't trust anybody," he glanced at your hands, unsure of how to proceed. should he apologize? ice your wrists? they didn't look hurt. he didn't think he had seriously hurt you. or that he could ever hurt you, at least, not physically.
you took note of his lingering gaze, "i'm fine, you pinning my wrists behind me isn't anything new."
he exhaled in amusement, the call notifications from shiu serving as background noise, “you were right though. i'd kill him.”
Tumblr media
“you’re not supposed to be here, y’know,” you frowned at the tall man in front of you. he was sweaty and in wrinkled clothes, like he had come straight from the gym or from a really good nap.
either way, he wasn't welcome at suguru's house (ever since he'd walked in on you two... bonding... multiple times). but you especially didn't want to see him that particular weekend.
GETO would be coming back from a long mission that day and you were not in the mood to see anyone else but your beloved.
gojo stuck his tongue out at you, “and you are? listen, i get that suguru's your boyfriend but you’re so greedy with him.”
“what... how are you calling me greedy?" he shrugged and walked past you into suguru's home. you scoffed as he took off his shoes, casually threw them next to yours, and headed straight to the kitchen.
“i never see him anymore, but when i do you always have your tongue down his throat," gojo threw you a disgusted glance from over his shoulder, "or worse, your tongue further south."
“wow, would you rather have your tongue down his throat?”
he ignored you, “anyway, do you have something to cool me down? it’s like 300 degrees outside.”
“we have ice cream bars in the freezer, but they’re sugur—“
at the words “ice cream”, gojo’s eyes seemed to gloss over and he quickly dug his hands into your freezer…
...on the other side of the door, suguru was taking out his keys.
but he found that the door was completely open.
it was strange, and he would definitely get onto you later for being so forgetful, but he was just happy to finally be home from that month-long mission.
he stepped into your home and the second thing he noticed was a man's pair of shoes next to your own.
then he heard your laugh resonate through his house, and another voice mocking your laugh.
geto took a step forward and then froze again when he heard seemingly lewd slurping noises and a yelp from you.
his heart dropped to his stomach. but you could be slurping noodles! maybe they were hot and you burned yourself or…
“you’re nasty— you’re such a messy eater, gojo.”
gojo? geto didn’t know whether to panic or be relieved. a part of him wanted to just walk in and trust that he would find you two eating soup of some sort.
but another, more twisted, part of him couldn’t shake off the disgusting feeling that crawled into his chest. the noises, the door, the shoes, your choice of words...
so he gave in and stood there, in the middle of the living room, just to ground himself. it seemed you two probably hadn’t heard him come in, and he was curious.
he didn’t know you two hung out without him. one on one. he wasn't even aware you liked gojo enough to laugh so loudly at his jokes.
he heard the shutter of a camera followed with your muffled laugh, and then gojo’s voice, “don’t send that to him— he says i have a habit of taking what’s his, and he’ll totally hate me.”
the conversation really, truly, could not get any more suggestive than that.
gojo continued, “you don’t wanna ruin our friendship, do you?”
ruin? could eating noodles with your friend's lover really ruin—
“aw, come on,” you insisted, “you got it all over your chin, is it sweet?”
all over his chin? sweet? he was gonna be sick.
"yeah, your boyfriend’s got good taste, huh?”
geto’s bag dropped from his hands and he coughed, trying to get rid of that pressure around his throat. your voices became muffled to him and he felt the all-too-familiar sour taste climb up his throat.
“an intruder?!”
“what? no— suguru’s home!” you smiled, hopping off your chair to greet your lover, but you reached the living room and he stood there, unmoving, his eyes shaky and bouncing quickly across your face and body before finally landing on your eyes, "suguru, you look so pale, are you okay?”
your hair looked neat. your lips weren't red or swollen. you were completely dressed.
the cute shirt he recalled gifting you flattered you perfectly and he looked down and spotted and fuzzy slippers you always kept at his place.
he felt his heartbeat still, and he spoke with an uncharacteristic rasp, "where is he?"
"who? gojo? ugh, in the kitchen eating all your ice cream! can you believe that? i was just about to send you a picture of the mess he made but he stole my phone."
geto swallowed thickly, "ice cream?"
"yeah, i'm sorry, i know it's your favorite," you reached out to push his hair out of his face, "is everything okay? you look tired, was the mission bad?"
he relaxed his shoulders, "yeah, 'm fine, why is... why are you here with him?
you shook your head, "i was here yesterday hoping you'd show up and gojo walked in earlier saying he was overheating and wanted something to eat."
satoru soon waltzed into the living room, chocolate painting the corners of his mouth, "hey, you're back. how'd it go?"
geto frowned at his friend's appearance, "went fine. now, get out."
"huh?!"
"you're banned from visiting, ever, especially when i'm not here."
"what?! are you serious? over a few ice cream bars? i'll pay you back! seriously, you two are so greedy."
geto checked him with a sharp glare, and his friend rolled his eyes, the chocolate on the corners of his mouth dragging down with his frown.
and when he finally left (not without a not-so-sly comment about you two "being safe" because he was "too young to be an uncle") geto finally wrapped his arms around you, using your scent as an anchor, "i'm sorry."
"for what?"
he shook his head, the horrible taste in his mouth long gone, "i'm stupid."
he didn't let you question him any further, placing a quick kiss on your nose, "let's catch up."
Tumblr media
NANAMI stared at his phone's homescreen, rubbing his eyes with the back of his hand. it was early in the morning for him, and really late at night for you.
it wasn't out of the ordinary for you to text him late at night, especially while he was abroad, but the contents of the text made his heart squeeze.
♡: so we're on for next saturday?
his fingers hovered over the screen, and he forced himself to sit up all the way in the hotel bed. he could text you back, but you've always insisted that hearing his voice is "one-hundred and twenty-seven thousand times better".
then again, you had sent the text over two hours ago, when he was deep asleep, and he was sure it was way past your normal bed time. so, he opted for typing out a quick response.
did you mean to send me that?
i'm not back until the week after next.
to his surprise, you responded rather quickly.
♡: sorry, ken
♡: wrong person :(
♡: why are you up so early?
nanami stared at his screen and decided to call you instead. his phone rang once, twice, and then your voice was on the other end, "hi, is the hotel bed comfortable?"
"it's not as nice as ours."
he swore he could practically hear the smile in your voice, "really? guess you should come back soon then."
"just two more weeks."
"yeah, i know. i miss you like crazy though. like i ordered our favorite take-out yesterday but i accidentally ordered for two so i had to share with shoko."
cute, but that didn't shake off the weird feeling in his chest, "yeah? and why are you up so late?"
"oh, i was waiting for a text."
"ah. okay."
and it was radio silence after that. you picked at your nails and nanami cleared his throat.
"who," nanami cleared his throat again, a nervous habit of his, "who are you meeting on saturday?"
"i'm meeting gojo."
silence again. and then...
"one on one?"
"yup, we're planning the exchange program," you told him, and he sighed into the mic. your heart fluttered at the barely audible sound, and you wondered if you could get him to facetime you instead, so you could see him in all his glory: tired eyes and blond stubble.
but he spoke before you could, "on a saturday?"
gojo was stronger. the leader of a powerful clan. tall. a nice face and (albeit superficially) charismatic.
"yeah, i'm busy all week with the second years."
"do you think you could take utahime with you? or shoko?"
you laughed at his question. so that's what this was about. you had never seen your boyfriend jealous, so this was a first.
"hm, why?"
the man himself didn't know how to answer your question. it's not like he believed you would ever go after gojo. he wasn't exactly the most charming after getting to know him. but nanami couldn't lie, he had a certain appeal with people, although he'd never understand it.
so the best he could come up with was: "i... don't like how he looks at you."
you smiled at his shaky response, "you can't even see his eyes."
he whispered your name and you hated that you liked the desperation in his voice, "please?"
"is this you being jealous?" you pushed, and he groaned at your teasing.
he tugged on his pillow to put it into its place and put you on speaker, "don't make this difficult."
your laugh filled the room and nanami continued making his bed, "i just don't like how he flirts with you with no shame. i can't imagine how he acts when i'm not around."
"he's shameless, but he knows his place."
he raised his brows, "which is?"
"the very, very, very last place. compared to you, at least."
"is that so?" he smiled widely, and he wished he could see the look on your face as you said that.
"it is so," your voice flowed smoothly through the speakers, keeping him warm against the cold breeze of the hotel air conditioning.
"so who takes second place?"
"shoko, probably."
he laughed, picking up his phone to take you with him to wash his face in the restroom, "she's my competition?"
"competition? for what? she's not the one who..." you trailed off purposefully, allowing him to finish the sentence with his own imagination.
he chuckled, sure that if he indulged you, you wouldn't sleep any time soon. so he played along, "...who?
he turned off the tap water, drying his face with a rough towel and he wondered if you were already done with your nightly routine, his favorite sight to come home to. it's why he always chose the flights that landed at night.
"nothing," you bit the inside of your cheek, "just know you're first and nothing could change that."
he hummed, choosing his words carefully before speaking, "i don't think i'd have any room for places in my heart."
"what? why?"
"you'd take them all up."

White Nail Polish
Tumblr media Tumblr media Tumblr media
Pairing: I.N x reader
Genre: pure fluff, angst, hurt/comfort
Word Count: 5.1K
Summary: Every Sunday when Yang Jeongin comes home to your shared apartment, there you’ll be, in your corner seat on the couch, painting your nails the same white color. But today, when he steps inside, you’re not there.
——————————————————————-
You always painted your nails yourself.
“It’s easier!” You would tell Jeongin with a bubbly smile. “Plus, it’s so nice to take some time to pamper myself. And I get to save money.”
It was a simple tradition he’s come to look forward to.
Every Sunday, when Jeongin walked in the door to your shared apartment and the smell of acetone smacked him in the face, he would always smile.
There you would be, on your designated corner seat on the couch, in your coziest, oversized hoodie, a fresh clay face mask on your face with your hair held back by a fuzzy headband.
The same fuzzy headband he stuck in your Christmas stocking last year.
You’d only just be finishing taking the last coat off your nails by the time he got home.
Without fail, Jeongin would walk in and immediately open the window to air out the chemical smell. He would then lecture you about fumes and how dangerous it was to be inhaling them.
Then, you would giggle and ask him to sit with you. He would do so without any fuss and a happy tingle in his chest.
Both of you would talk and watch TV until it was time for bed.
Sundays were his new favorite days.
The roommate line of your relationship was quickly crossed with how you were as a person, your overly friendly nature couldn’t keep you apart for long. After living together for two years now, Jeongin would easily proclaim you as one of his best friends.
His life was always changing, nothing was ever the same; nothing except for you and your white nail polish.
So, when he opened the door and was met with only the smell of a burning candle, Jeongin frowned.
The living room was dark. The TV wasn’t on. The entire apartment was standing still.
Not even a fresh pot of coffee was sitting on the counter.
You were home, though. Your shoes were by the door and your keys were hanging on the hook.
Never once have you missed a ‘Self Care Sunday’ as you coined them.
Even when you had the flu, you made sure to paint your pretty nails.
The door shut behind him, the click of the lock was as hollow as the apartment felt.
Jeongin kicked his shoes off and made his way down the hall, tossing his bag in his room before walking across the hall to stand in front of your closed door. The soft glow of your fairy lights shined from the crack underneath the wood.
There’s soft sounds coming from inside, it sounds like you’re watching videos on your phone.
He knocks a few times, you hum for him to come in.
Jeongin pushes the door open gently, his head peeking in first before his body.
You’re a lump of blankets on top of the bed. If he looked quickly, he might not have realized that it was you underneath all the blankets and pillows.
“Y/N?” he asks quietly, stepping inside slowly.
Your eyes look at him, they seem… dull. When you see his face, you lock your phone and place it down on your bed.
Again, you only hum.
“What’s wrong, Y/N?” he asks. Jeongin walks towards the bed and sits on the edge. “You’ve never missed a Sunday before.”
You shrug— or at least, he thinks it’s a shrug, all Jeongin’s able to see is the lump of blankets move around.
His eyebrows pull together and he purses his lip. “What’s going on?”
You look away from him. “Just… life weighing down extra today. Exams, job, finding an internship, life, everything.”
Every day you were bubbly. Not a moment went by where you didn’t have a varying degree of a smile on your face. Some people had a resting bitch face, you had a resting happy face.
The corners of your lips were perpetually upturned.
Seeing you now, like this, a sad lump of fleece, pulled at Jeongin’s heartstrings.
You reach one hand out from under the blankets and place it gently on top of his. “Sorry for being all meh,” you huff a humorless laugh through your nose. “I’ll be fine tomorrow. I think I need to be a bedbug today.”
Jeongin thinks for a moment, he looks around your room to your desk. Everything that you usually use on Sundays is there on top.
He flips his hand around and picks yours up, bringing it closer to his face. Cocking his head to the side, he peers down at your nails, making sure to exaggerate how much he’s judging the chipped polish.
“No, no,” he says, clicking his tongue. “This won’t do at all.”
“Jeongin—“
“Nope, look at this.” He holds your hand up for you to see. “How unprofessional. We have to take care of this.”
You roll your eyes. And it doesn’t slip past Jeongin’s watchful eye that your lips twitch in a smile.
“I just don’t feel like it right now,” you whine.
“That’s fine, I’ll do it.”
Jeongin pulls on your arm to yank you out of the blanket pile.
You blink a few times and allow him to sit you up on the bed. A large, stretched out t-shirt hung off your shoulder, your hair sticks up in different directions.
“What?” you ask with wide eyes.
“I’ll paint your nails, come on. Free of charge.”
Jeongin stands up from the bed and holds his hand out for you. You just blink at him over and over.
“You’re going to paint my nails?” The question ends with an incredulous laugh.
Rolling his eyes, Jeongin thrusts his hand out for you to take again. “Yes, I’m going to paint your nails, what’s so odd about that?”
“Have you ever painted your nails before?”
“No, but I watch you do it every week. How hard could it be?”
Your face scrunches up but a small twinkle returns to your eyes. It doesn’t slip past Jeongin.
Deciding that you’re taking too long, Jeongin leans down and picks you up over his shoulder.
A loud squeal comes from your throat that dissolves into giggles. His heart lights up at the sound— it always has.
Even on his worst days, hearing your laughter was like sitting in front of a fireplace during a snowstorm. When he’s sick, he swears he doesn’t need medicine, he just needs to sit near you.
He can still remember one night where he was at his wit’s end, everything that could go wrong, did. He was so overstimulated and angry at everything that he could scream and cry at the same time.
But then, your laughter pierced through the gray clouds of his mind. Your fit of giggles traveled through your door and into his room, they were so muffled but uncontrolled.
Slowly, they dissolved into cackles. Breathless wheezes and snorts that made him smile without knowing what you’re looking at.
You had one of those laughs that was so contagious, especially to him.
There was a bit of shuffling, a door opened, and then you came through his with one of the happiest smiles he’s ever seen. Tears coming down your red face from laughing so hard.
“You have to see this!” you wheezed out.
What was it? A video of a duck sitting on top of a water park geyser, when the water jet activated, the duck went flying.
It wasn’t even that funny. But hearing your angelic laughter made it hilarious.
Suddenly, his day wasn’t so bad anymore. He couldn’t even remember what he was mad about.
That’s the friendship you both have always carried on with.
A shoulder to cry on, a hand to hold, an arm to grab when you’re laughing too hard, an extra coffee to bring home, a constant reminder to refill the Brita. It gets deeper and deeper every day.
Jeongin unceremoniously plops you into your corner seat and you let out an ‘ooof!’
He points down at your face. “Stay.”
“I’m not a dog!” You laugh nonetheless while Jeongin’s lithe form disappears down the hallway again.
You look down at your nails. They desperately needed to be done. After studying for hours on end while chewing on your nails, typing on your laptop, and picking nervously at them, there’s barely any polish left.
Truly, you were just going to wait until tomorrow— but if Jeongin was offering, who were you to turn it down?
He comes back out into the living room with everything you typically used. You honestly never noticed how much he paid attention to your pampering.
Setting everything down on the table, he sits cross legged on the seat next to yours and clicks the TV on. A random Christmas movie plays in the background.
He grabs the remover and a cotton pad and goes to work. All the motions look so natural after he grabs your first hand; like he’s the one that does this every Sunday, not you.
The two of you are facing one another, knees practically touching. He’s so gentle when he works.
The chemical burning smell of acetone makes him scrunch his nose up.
“Aren’t you going to open the windows?” you tease.
He grins. “In a minute. The smell has to permeate the house first.”
“And here I thought you hated the smell.”
“I do,” he wipes off polish and goes to the next finger. “But it’s just … something that’s grown on me.”
“Acetone?”
“Yeah,” he snorts. “Strangely enough. I hate it, but I love it.”
He switches to the next hand.
The Christmas movie continues to play, it’s a classic one with Korean translated subtitles at the bottom of the screen. It’s weird hearing English come out of the TV.
Jeongin’s been trying extra hard with English since you moved in. With you being from America, it was like having a live-in tutor.
“I … need remote, please.” He asked in a slow, calculated tone.
“You need the remote,” you corrected him, holding it out of his reach.
“I need the remote.”
“Why?”
“Change channel.”
“Change the channel.”
“Oh my god.”
Your attention goes back to Jeongin. He’s wiping the last of the nail polish off your fingers.
He’s been your rock these last two years. And you’ve been his.
Neither of you really enjoy having emotional conversations or talking about your feelings, you both prefer to stay quiet about it. But that doesn’t mean you don’t need some form of support.
That’s how you two work out so well. When one needs help, the other is there with jokes or food or a movie ready to watch.
Or in this case, nail polish ready to be applied.
With a huff, he stands up from the couch and pushes open one of the windows. He fans his hand in front of his face just to be extra dramatic.
Rolling your eyes, you poke him in the side when he sits back down on the couch.
You were expecting him to put the paint on right away afterwards, so imagine your surprise when he picks up the small pair of clippers.
With a raised eyebrow, you take your hand away a little. His grip tightens and his head snaps up to look at you with a mock-offended expression.
“Nuh-uh!” you tease. “You’re gunna give me man nails!”
“I will not!” he jests back. “I will clip your nails exactly how you usually do it!”
Your eyes narrow, he mirrors it.
You jut out your bottom lip, he mirrors it.
You slowly turn your head to the side to side-eye him, he mirrors it.
“I'm trusting you, Yang Jeongin. Christmas is next week. I don’t want man hands.”
He scoffs and looks back down at your hand. “I have rough news, Y/N.”
You balk and rip your hand away from him and then usher a swift smack to his bicep.
The two of you giggle the more you smack him around playfully.
“I do not have man hands!” you yell.
He laughs with you, holding his arms up to shield himself. “Okay, okay! Fine! You have beautiful womanly hands! Enough!”
You stop smacking him. “That’s more like it.”
With that adorable smile, Jeongin reaches forward and grabs your hand once again.
“One set of ridiculously short nails coming up.”
“I’ll poison your coffee tomorrow.”
“You wouldn’t.”
“Try me, Yang.”
He snickers once more and then starts cutting your nails in small, little snips.
Jeongin just trims them a bit— he does a perfect job if you’re being completely honest. You preferred them a little longer anyway.
When he picks the nail file up, you’re less wary.
He files your nails down a little more, rounding off the edges just how you like.
“How was rehearsal?” you ask quietly.
“Are we gossiping now? Is this what it’s like getting your nails done at a salon?”
You chuckle. “Yes, now tell me all about it.”
“It was good, I had vocal training after, so it was a long day.”
“What does your day look like tomorrow?”
“Nothing tomorrow. But Tuesday we leave for Japan until Thursday.”
You hum, watching him file your nails. “Nervous?”
“Always. It’s never gone away.”
You giggle. “I think if you weren’t nervous, you would have too big of a head.”
“Or I would be Minho.”
Then, simultaneously, you both go: “Same thing.” And then break into a fit of laughter.
He files your one pinky finger and looks down at both of your hands at once.
“How’s that shape look?”
You bring them up closer for you to look at. They all look even and perfect.
How is he doing this?
“I think you should open a salon,” you tell him, still inspecting your nails.
“Ah, yes, let me abandon my idol lifestyle to be a nail tech.”
Jeongin grabs your one hand and files a little notch off that you didn’t see.
Again, you giggle.
He puts the nail file down and picks up the bottle of white polish you use every week. He shakes it around just like you do, hitting it against the heel of his palm.
Holding his hand out, you put yours in his.
“If you couldn’t be an idol, what would you do?” you ask suddenly.
Jeongin doesn’t even pause, but you can see he’s thinking about your question as he unscrews the bottle. The excess on the brush is swiped on the neck.
“Hmm,” he weighs your question. “I don’t know, really. I love singing so much.”
Jeongin grabs your one finger and swipes the polish over your nail.
“You could be a lounge singer,” you tease. “Singing in those fancy, swanky nightclubs at the piano.”
“Would I have a tip jar on top?”
“Oh, of course. It would be overflowing from all the women who fall in love with you every night.”
His cheeks heat up from the compliment, moving from nail to nail with the first coat.
“Don’t say things like that,” he mumbles.
You snicker. “Sorry, but all the old ladies would be head over heels for you. They’d empty their wallets into your tip jar and you would smile and wink at them with those dimples.”
With your free hand, you poke at his face. Jeongin swats at your hand with a whine.
“I’ll mess up your nails on purpose!” he threatens.
Still laughing, you take your hand away from his face. He switches to the second hand. You blow on the first one.
“Okay, your turn: why white?” He asks, paying attention to his careful brush strokes.
“The color?”
He hums an ‘mhmm’.
You smile down at the color on your first hand he did, admiring the way the white looks.
“I think it’s pretty,” you tell him.
“That’s all?”
You snort. “Does there need to be another reason?”
“No, I guess not.” He moves from finger to finger.
“It makes me feel a little extra beautiful. I can’t explain it, but having my nails painted white feels so pretty.”
His own smile is warm and happy. His cheeks scrunch up and the small blush of pink that sits on them make your stomach dance.
You’ve never really needed anything else like you’ve needed his presence— nor have you craved anything similar.
Jeongin is Jeongin. He’s simple and everything you could ever ask for.
“My turn again; if you could change one decision you’ve made in the last five years, what would it be?”
Jeongin whistles and finishes the first coat on your hands. “That’s a heavy question, Y/N.”
You continue to blow on your nails. “Well, I figured we were getting deeper and deeper.”
“I asked you why you liked white nail polish!”
“And I asked you to take a deep dive into your regrets, I think these are pretty similar.”
“Is it?”
“Hell yeah.”
Jeongin grabs the first hand he was working on and takes a look at the polish. “How long does it take to dry?”
“It’s a special gel polish, so ten minutes between coats.”
“How long do you think it’s been?”
“Maybe five?”
He nods and turns to look at the TV. His eyes scan over the subtitles at the bottom to understand what’s happening.
But you don’t look at the TV, you continue to stare at him.
Jeongin’s boyish charm never seems to go away no matter what. Even after all the soft lines of his face turned into hard ones, that teasing happiness is still there.
When you became roommates two years ago it was because you desperately needed a place to stay and he just as direly needed someone to pay the other half of the rent.
A match made in Heaven.
He continued to be an idol and you continued college.
When you first moved in, Jeongin told you that if you wanted more privacy, to let him know, that he was more than content to leave communal spaces to you.
You looked him in the eye and asked, “What if I wanted to hang out with you?”
Neither of you have looked back.
You needed a friend and he needed someone who wasn’t in his group. The boys can only do so much for his sanity.
Sometimes he just needs to come home to acetone and fresh coffee.
Scrunching your nose, you look down at your first hand and poke at the first coat. When your fingerprint doesn’t show up, you hold it out to Jeongin.
“You didn’t answer my question.”
He looks back at you, then down at your hand and takes it. God, his hands are so soft.
“It’s too heavy of a question,” he whines.
“I wanna know the answer, though.”
He applies the second coat to a nail.
“I mean, I regret having to wear some of the outfits they had us in before and right after debuting.”
You laugh, it’s a cackle. Jeongin cracks a smile— it feels like a victory in his head.
“Okay, but I mean a real regret. Something you had control over.”
He stops painting your nails and thinks. His lip pulls between his teeth and his eyebrows pull together. Jeongin’s eyes flit around while his brain reels.
After a few seconds, he shakes his head and looks up at you. “I really can’t think of anything, Y/N.”
“Nothing?”
“Nope.”
“Not even me moving in?”
His eyes glisten and soften considerably when he hears you say that. The corners of his lips twitch and his heart stutters in his chest a bit.
It feels like cotton is shoved into his mouth while he looks at you. Your hair is still frizzy and everywhere, bare faced with sleepy bags under your eyes, pajamas from this morning still on.
If there was one decision that he was sure he made the best choice of in the past five years, it was you.
“No,” he says with a twinkly smile. “Not even that.”
His demeanor catches you off guard, but you don’t let it show too much.
Jeongin looks at you for a few more seconds before looking down to switch hands.
“My turn again. If you could do anything for a living, what would you do?” he questions while carefully painting.
“Oh, easy. Actress.”
Surprised, he looks back up at your face. “Really?”
“Yeah! I was doing a lot of acting back in America, just local stuff. But when it came time for college, I gave it up.” Your eyes shine sadly. “I was pretty good too, but it’s just one of those careers that have too much uncertainty.”
“Like being an idol.”
“Exactly.” You swallow thickly. “So I went for the secure route.”
Jeongin focuses down on your nails again.
You keep talking. “Besides, I get to live through you.”
His painting stutters, but he continues nonetheless. “What do you mean?”
“You come home with these fun stories of being famous, all the people you get to meet, the countries you get to see. You get to wear Alexander McQueen for God’s sake.”
He blushes, and paints the second coat on your pinky finger.
“Jeongin, your life is so cool. You get to fly to Japan on Tuesday, and you said it like it was just a regular commute. That’s … that’s amazing, you know?”
“It’s not all like that.” He inspects each nail, making sure nothing got messed up.
“I know. There’s crazy fans and all the blood, sweat, and tears.”
Jeongin rolls his eyes. “‘Crazy’ isn’t even a good enough word to describe some of them.”
You laugh.
The TV continues to play.
“But you get to do what you love,” you whisper to him through a thick voice.
Jeongin looks at you closely. There’s unshed tears welling up in your eyes. His heart sinks.
Swallowing, your eyes drop to the couch.
“I gave up on that dream a while ago.” You take a deep breath to try and calm yourself down. “So I decided to live vicariously through you and your fun stories.”
You shrug and roll your eyes to stare up at the ceiling. Your lip quivers.
With your hands still in his, Jeongin threads your fingers together and holds your hands up between you two.
He says nothing.
He doesn’t know what to say.
What can he say in this situation?
You don’t need him to say anything, though. You never have. The fact that he’s there is enough.
“Maybe that’s why we workout so well as roommates,” you say, “no one would suspect a normal girl, with a boring 9-5 would be living with idol superstar I.N from Stray Kids.” Humor was always your coping mechanism.
Letting out a deep breath towards the ceiling, you look back down at him, hands still intertwined.
“Thanks for letting me mooch off your life stories.”
Jeongin chuckles. “Anytime.” He pauses. “For the record, I don’t think your life is boring.”
You cock an eyebrow. “Oh really?”
He nods enthusiastically. “You did that research study about traffic safety last month, I thought it was really interesting.”
An unbelieving laugh leaves your chest. “You don’t need to lie.”
He squeezes your hands. “No, really! You’re studying so hard to be an analyst. You sat outside in the freezing cold for days and days and days watching the crosswalk of a busy road just to collect data.”
It’s true, you did do that. Jeongin also stopped by about once every other hour to give you a hot beverage or food.
If he noticed you were getting cold, the next trip consisted of extra jackets and blankets.
The things you do for research.
“After your findings were submitted, the city started the process to add more crosswalks to busy streets. You’re like a superhero.”
You stare at him for a second before bursting out in laughter. “What a lame superhero!”
Your cackles, like always, are contagious. He can’t fight his own giggles bubbling to the surface in his heart.
Before he knows it, Jeongin is laughing with you.
“I’m Captain Statistics! I beat the odds no matter what!”
He laughs even harder at your pun.
The two of you are giggling so much, your bodies falling forward on the couch, hunched over in a fit of laughter.
But, your hands stay intertwined.
Eventually, the laughter dies down.
Jeongin squeezes your hands once more and flips them around to look at your nails.
“I think it’s time for the top coat, Captain Statistics.”
You look at your hands and test the polish. “Yeah, you’re right.”
He switches the white bottle out for the clear coat. Repeating the shaking process and grabbing your hand.
The top coat goes on much quicker than the white polish does.
“Thank you for this, Jeongin,” you say quietly.
The smile that grows on his face reminds you of those timelapse videos of flowers growing in the Spring. It takes up the entirety of his face— and your heart.
“Of course, Y/N. Happy to do it.”
He moves to the other hand. You blow on the first one.
It’s the truth, he was happy to do it. He’d do it again if you asked him to. Jeongin would happily paint your nails every Sunday for the rest of your lives if you wanted.
Words sit in his mouth, words that he’s wanted to say for months now, words that would change the entirety of your relationship.
They’re so heavy on his tongue.
Jeongin can practically feel them tumbling out. He has to clench his jaw from keeping his confession to himself.
How much longer until he explodes? You can only shake a soda bottle too much before everything comes out the top.
God, he loves you so much.
You say it to him all the time, you say it to everyone so often.
“I love you” is said all the time by you. It’s as easy as breathing for you.
He asked you about it once, why do you say it so much? Your answer?
“People need to know when they’re loved. I will happily be that person that reminds them.”
As if he couldn’t love you more already. You’re just a light, a star, a sun.
Yes.
You’re his sun. The center of his galaxy. Everything revolves around you, he gravitates to you. He can’t help but bask in your warmth every single day.
The last of the top coat is painted delicately. They’re done.
“Finished,” he says quietly.
Your smile lights up the room.
“God, you’re the best, Jeongin,” you say, admiring his handiwork. “Thank you so much!”
He mirrors your smile and starts putting everything away. “Anytime, Y/N.”
Jeongin screws the lids tighter on the polish and acetone. A car honks outside. The TV plays on. The heat kicks on. You blow on your nails.
“I’ll miss you this week,” you tell him casually.
He looks over at you, folding his long legs up on the couch again.
“Really?”
“I always miss you, Jeongin. The apartment feels colder when you’re gone.”
He studies your face for a long stretch of time.
You’re too busy smiling at your nails to notice.
He can’t take it anymore.
“I lied to you,” he says suddenly. You look at him, slightly alarmed.
“What?” you ask.
“I lied— when I said I had no regrets, I lied.”
Your face scrunches up. “Why?”
He swallows nervously. “Close your eyes and I’ll tell you.”
You eye him curiously for a few more seconds before your eyes slide shut.
Jeongin’s heart rate picks up exponentially. It’s going to explode at this rate.
He leans forward towards your face, you’re so perfect. How are you so perfect?
He hesitates.
But, he swallows his nerves and swoops in the rest of the way, pressing his lips to yours delicately. Your body jolts, but you don’t move away from him.
It’s no more than a long peck. Electricity shoots through his body anyway.
A shock goes from his heart to his toes. He can barely feel his fingers.
You’re so magical. How do you do this?
Jeongin pulls away slowly, brushing your noses together and letting your shaky exhales mingle with one another.
He can’t open his eyes. He’s so worried that if he does, he’ll see rejection and disdain in your beautiful eyes.
You’re the first one to speak through the thick silence.
“I fail to see how that is a regret,” you whisper.
He laughs. Like always, you get him to laugh. He rests his forehead on yours.
“I regret not doing it sooner.” His long fingers come up to cup your one cheek.
You hum and lean into his touch.
Validation courses through his veins. It’s taking everything in his body not to jump for joy.
All he wants to do is stand up and scream, pump his fist in the air and claim victory.
Before he could do any of that, you lean forward and kiss him again.
Your top lip slots between his, his bottom in between both of yours.
A sigh of relief leaves his nose, his other arm wraps around your shoulders to bring you even closer. He can’t get you close enough to his body.
Closer, closer, closer.
Please, he needs you to be as close as possible.
He pulls back from the first kiss just to press another one to your lips.
Again, and again, and again— he pulls away just to swoop back in.
It’s never enough.
It’s like drinking water after you’ve been parched all day. He never knew he was crawling through a desert until now.
“Jeongin,” you giggle through his frantic kisses.
He grunts in response and continues to kiss you more. Why can’t he get enough?
He’s resigned himself to his fate. He’ll need to kiss you forever until the world ends.
“Jeongin,” you say again, still laughing.
How has he gone this long without your kisses? It’s madness.
Finally, you pull back. He dives in for another kiss, you turn your head with a brilliant smile, his lips meet your cheek.
Eh, that’ll do.
Over and over again he pecks your cheek. Laugh after laugh comes from you.
“My nails!” you finally call out. “You’re going to ruin them!”
His hand turns your face to look at him. “I’ll do them again. I’ll do them again and again, just please let me kiss you.”
Unable to take it any longer, you throw your arms around his neck and smash your lips together.
You pull him down onto the sofa with you, kiss after kiss being shared between the two of you.
How was he supposed to go to Japan now?

“hey, pretty girl.”
pulling the phone away from your ear confused, you checked your screen to see who was on the other line, frowning slightly when you saw no contact.
“who is this?” setting the home phone back on it’s stand, you let the call ring out on speaker, turning your attention back to the stove.
“there’s no fun in telling you who i am just yet, why don’t you answer a few of my questions first.”
rolling your eyes, you shook the pot once more before turning to lean against the counter, the buttery smell of popcorn filling your nose. “why should i do that?” speaking over the loud crackles and pops coming from the fire, you moved around the island to grab a bowl.
“it’ll be fun. so tell me, what’s your favorite scary movie?”
“hm, i don’t know.” pouring the yellow kernels into the large bowl, you popped a few pieces into your mouth with a satisfied hum. grabbing the phone and turning it off speaker, you pressed it between your ear and shoulder, balancing the device steadily. “maybe, halloween? think that’s the one where that guy stalks the babysitters.”
“you think it was scary?”
“i guess, anyways. tell me who you are now.” ungraciously falling onto the couch, you picked at the pieces of popcorn that had fallen into your lap, licking your lips with a smile as a salty taste covered your tastebuds.
“can’t do that princess, haven’t finished asking my questions.”
“then hurry up and ask them already.” annoyance showing on your face, you reached across the many throw pillows and grabbed the remote —  clicking through the channels with disinterest, before going to browse your downloaded pick of scary movies.
“you got a boyfriend?”
eyebrows raising in shock, you stilled with a quiet laugh. “why, wanna ask me out on a date or what.” you teased the person on the other line, shifting in your seat as you began to ponder who you were really talking to.
“we’ll see, do you have a boyfriend?”
“no.” placing the overflowing bowl of popcorn on the coffee table, you stood to make way to your room, keeping the chunky phone against your ear.
“that’s a shame, such a pretty one you are.”
biting back a smile, you switched the light to your room on; bending down to open your drawer of pajamas, you tossed an oversized shirt onto your neatly made bed. “you gonna be this charming to me when i find out who you are?”
“maybe.”
“got anymore questions for me, or can i start guessing who this is.” unbuttoning your jeans, you kicked the pair of uncomfortable pants off . turning the speaker back on, you tossed the phone onto your pillow, pulling your tank top up and over your head before slipping on the big shirt.
“go ahead, you’re giving me such a good show.”
“what are you talking about?” picking up the dirty clothes that you had left stranded on your floor, you walked into your connecting bathroom, putting the clothes in your dirty hamper.
“hm, that’s a nice shirt you’re wearing. where did you get it?”
eyes widening in surprise, you slowly turned back into your bedroom, your knuckles white as you gripped onto the phone. “can you see me?”
“ah what a good girl! putting her brain to some use.”
“if you can really see me, how many fingers am i holding up?” walking up to your window, you peered outside trying to get a good look. sticking out your middle finger, you squinted as you stared into your dark backyard, trying to piece together unfamiliar shadows.
“funny, one.”
“shit.” shutting your blinds in hurry, you stumbled out of your room, quickly heading back downstairs. “who is this, jason?”
“from econ? no.”
“you better leave me alone, my boyfriend is coming over soon.” closing the blinds to your backdoor, you shuffled into your kitchen, grabbing a large knife. “he’s strong, s-so get out of here!”
“i thought you said you didn’t have a boyfriend?”
“w-well i lied!” locking your front door, you turned down all the lights, curling into a corner, knife in hand. your breath was ragged, eyes darting from place to place in worry. “tell me who you are before i call the police.”
“quit being such a brat, the fun isn’t over just yet.”
chewing on your lip, tears lined your waterline as fear overtook you. anxiety creeping up your throat with every shallow breath you took. “this isn’t funny.” you flinched at the loud noise emitting from the buzzing device, a staticy and robotic laugh filling the eerily quiet apartment.
“you look so cute with that knife. what’re you gonna do, stab me?”
“show yourself, you coward!” standing from the hardwood floor, you paced around the kitchen, blinking away any tears that threatened to spill down your pink cheeks. frustration and anger burning in your chest, when the anonymous caller laughed again.
“careful what you wish for.”
a loud ringing echoes from the phone as the call ends, the wind whistling against the windows has you whipping your head to each sudden noise. pressing yourself up against the wall, the knife that you held a safe distance away from you.
“where are you, motherfucker.” your voice just barely above a whisper, you jumped at the sound of your doorknob rattling – a fist loudly knocking against the wood of your door. “go away! i’ll kill you.”
“baby? hey, what’s going on it’s just me.”
“ethan?” letting the knife drop to the marble of your kitchen countertop, you winced at the loud clang. running to your front door, you stood on the tip of your toes, peering through the peak hole to see your boyfriend awkwardly standing in front of you. twisting the lock, you threw the door open before jumping into his arms.
“what’s wrong? did you forget i was coming or something?” pressing a quick kiss to your cheek, he circles his arms around your waist with a hesitant laugh.
“no- no. this guy just prank called me, i was so scared.” pressing your face into his shoulder, you gripped onto his coat, muffled sobs racking from your chest. “he saw me, ethan.”
“no, pretty, don't cry. i’m sure it was just some sick joke.” gently pulling you away from his tearstained coat, he cradled your face in the palm of his hand; wiping your wet cheeks, he pressed a light kiss in between your brows. “relax, no one’s gonna hurt you as long as i’m here.”
“can you stay the night?” leaning into his touch, you wrapped your arms around his neck pulling him closer to you. “don’t think i can sleep without you.” twirling his thick brown hair between your fingers, you sighed heavily, relaxing in his embrace.
“of course, i was planning on it anyway.” adjusting the bag on his shoulder, he squeezed your hip once nudging you inside your apartment. “don’t want these creeps lookin at you, especially without pants.”
shaking your head with a smile, you wiped your remaining tears with the back of your hand, sniffling quietly and shuffling back inside. “lock it, please.” grabbing his bag, you tossed it onto the sofa, the sound of a lock clicking easing your shoulders.
“you were really scared, huh.” ethan laughs at the abandon knife on the counter, picking it up and putting it back with the other collection of cooking knives.
“i was, that was the creepiest interaction i’ve ever had.” dragging your hands down your face with a huff, you walked over to your boyfriend, wrapping your arms around his torso and pressing your face into his back. “y’should jus’ move in with me.” your words muffled, you felt his chest rise and fall with another laugh.
“i was the one that made that request, i’d rather live with you than chad.” he loosened your arms around him, dragging you around his body so you were caged between him and the counter. “i am really sorry you had to go through that, did you call the police?”
“no, i think there are worse things to worry about. it was just some silly call.” rubbing your arms nervously, you took a deep breath, reassuring yourself of any crazy thoughts. “i don’t want to talk about it anymore, how was your day?” pulling yourself up on the countertop, you shuddered lightly when your bare skin met with the cool marble.
“uninteresting, just caught up in some classes, i missed you a lot.” moving in between your legs, he dragged his fingers against your thigh, teasing the hem of your shirt higher up your leg. “is this mine? i’ve been looking for it.” inching his hand up your shirt, he squeezed your hip, his thumb trailing along the lace of your panties.
“mhm, it’s comfortable. didn’t think you’d miss it much.” sinking your teeth into your bottom lip, you placed your hands on his chest, drawing little circles into his shirt. looking up at him through your lashes, you licked your lips, your fingers settling at the base of his neck. “ethan…”
“what is it, baby.” bringing his other hand up to your cheek, he tucked a strand of hair behind your ear. “want me to stop?” moving to retract his hand that found it’s way under your shirt, he looked down at you with worried eyes, scared that he had read the room wrong.
“no! no. i want you, ethan.” grabbing his wrist, you bring his large hands back to your body, leaning forward to press a sweet kiss to his collarbone. “do you— do you want me?” guiding his hands under your shirt, you whined softly, his cold fingers grazing your stomach.
“oh fuck.” mumbling under his breath, he pressed his lips to your forehead, glancing down at your exposed panties; pretty and pink, decorated with a white lace, a small bow stitched right in the center.
“gonna answer my question?” trailing along the seam of his belt, you played with the hem of his shirt, your lips lingering on his skin with every word you mumbled.
“i do, baby. let me make you feel good.” rubbing up and down your sides with a light chuckle, he gently patted your waist. “you deserve it, such a good girl.”
tugging at the collar of his thick coat, you pressed your soft lips to his with a happy hum, your fingers entangling in his curly brunette hair. swiping your tongue against his bottom lip, you brought your hand up to cup his jaw, pulling him impossibly closer to you.
ethan grinned against your lips, snaking his arm around your waist to grind his clothed crotch against your damp panties. “s’wet for me, haven’t even done anything to you yet.”
gasping into his mouth at the roll of his hips, you squeezed your thighs around his waist yearning for more. “please, ethan.” your words blurred together as you continued to kiss him – you tugged lightly on his hair with a mewl, the bulge showing in his jeans nudging your clit.
“so needy, can’t wait–”
a deafening ring cuts him off, his phone softly buzzing in the pocket of his jacket. letting your hands fall from his hair and atop of his shoulders, you shook your head with concern. “ethan, no.”
“relax, i bet it’s just chad.” giving your thigh a reassuring squeeze, he reaches into his pocket, pulling out the red phone. tilting his screen, he showed you the number on the screen, one that he had not previously saved. “recognize it?”
“no, i wasn’t shown a number.” anxiously playing with your fingers, you kept your eyes glued to the vibrating phone. “put it on speaker.”
nodding at your request, you watched him accept the call, letting it play out loud. “who is this?”
“hello, ethan. what’s your favorite scary movie?”

Analog phone lines verses VOIP
It is harder to get analog phone lines for fire alarm or the elevator phone than it used to be and they are much more expensive now. Using a Cellular unit tied to the hardwired elevator phones or to replace the 2 analog phones for a fire alarm are the best options.
Analog phone lines are POTS lines Plain Old Telephone Service and the voltage is about 54 volts and VOIP lines are 18 volts. Analog phones can grab the line and cut off others that are using a phone and VOIP does not operate like the old phone lines.
A phone company may tell you that they are getting you an analog line although most of the time it goes through a digital system and still has problems because they are not true analog lines on copper wires. With two people talking over VOIP the voice quality is good although when the phone dials out to a computer often VOIP misses signals and does not transmit all the information required for Fire or Elevator phone emergencies.
Phone companies got a 3 year period from Aug 2, 2019 to Aug 2, 2022 to begin their transition from analog to other technologies. During those years they would still repair old copper phone lines but now they don't have to repair them anymore although they will offer you an alternate method. If the copper still works you can use them until they don't. Often it is less expensive to change to cell and cancel the old analog lines.
VOIP (Voice over Internet Protocol) lines are used more and more although they are not a good alternative for Fire Alarm or or Elevator Phones because of a few reasons. Often packets transferred over the IP protocol get lost and all the information is not transmitted. The voltage is not what it should be on VOIP for many panels to recognize that it is a phone line or to trip the communication failure alert that is now required outside of the elevators. VOIP does not function well with DTMF which sends account and location information. One more reason is you need at least 4 hours of battery backup for TALK TIME on an elevator phone and VOIP does not give you that. If the power goes down in your building the internet routers are not normally on that long of a battery backup.
When I visit job sites I always press the elevator emergency phone button and tell the dispatcher we are testing the system. The scary part is about 1 out of 10 that I test is disconnected or not working. Some of these are not working because they switched phone service and took out the analog lines. Don't get stuck in an elevator without a working emergency phone.
Some Fire Marshals still require Analog lines and as the AHJs become educated and learn how analog is being phased out and how VOIP does not meet the code requirements they are coming onboard.
I am not a phone expert. I have been selling and installing alarm systems for over 25 years so if I have made any errors concerning the VOIP or Analog explanations I welcome feedback. Times are changing and so is technology.
Call Larry Love in Salt Lake City for information on installing a High Supervision Commercial Fire Alarm cellular unit or a Commercial cellular unit to provide dial tone to your elevator phones. 801 898 6003 [email protected]

That Week in Vancouver ~ Quinn Hughes
(Pt. 2 of That Night in Michigan)
"You can just keep believing whatever you want to believe if it makes you feel better about the way you treated me."
Word count: ~11,800
Warnings: some toxic behaviours (primarily arguing), drinking, language, smut.
A/N: there is a small potential for a part three, I have an idea for it but it depends on how motivated I am to keep going with this as a series. It's already gotten much longer than I ever intended it to.
“Do you have time to talk?”
There’s a silence that falls over the line that makes your heart race, your hands growing clammy. He had answered the phone at the very least, you had to hold onto some hope that he would be willing to have a conversation. It wasn’t a big ask, you didn’t need all day. You just needed a few minutes, a few minutes that could determine the outcome of your entire relationship.
“Quinn?” you whisper, unable to sit in the silence for any longer.
“I don’t really have time,” Quinn tells you, his voice distant and cold.
“Oh,” you mumble, your eyes prickling with tears. “When, um…when would you have time?”
“I don’t know,” Quinn replies quickly. “Things are kind of busy right now.”
Your breath catches in your throat and you blink quickly, trying to stop the onslaught of tears coming to your eyes. “Quinn, please,” you plead.
“Sorry,” Quinn mumbles. “I’m sorry, I have to go,” he croaks, the first indication that this wasn’t as easy for him as he was making it seem.
Before you have the chance to say anything else the call ends, your heart sinking with it. Pulling your knees to your chest you feel a few tears slip from your eyes. “Fuck,” you mutter under your breath, tossing your phone onto the couch beside you. Wiping the tears from your face with your sleeve you struggle through a few deep breaths, your breath catching in your throat each time. Was this really how it was going to end? A lifetime of friendship. Years of feelings. All of that to end without so much as a conversation.
You don’t know how long you sit there until eventually your body is so exhausted from crying that you climb off the couch, heading straight to bed. At least if you were asleep you could silence the never-ending stream of thoughts about you and Quinn. It doesn’t take long till you fall asleep that night, sleeping till late the next morning.
When you finally pull yourself out of bed you take a shower, your body numb as you go about some sort of normal routine, unsure of what else to do. Standing in front of the coffee maker in your kitchen you stare at the drops of coffee splashing into the slowly filling pot. Your phone vibrates on the counter beside you and you glance over at it, opening the text message from Luke.
‘if I get a dog would you look after it when we’re on the road?’
Sighing you read the message before locking your phone, setting it back down again to pour yourself a mug of coffee. As you’re stirring some cream into it you hear your phone vibrate again.
‘at least turn your read receipts off if you’re going to ignore me’
Picking up your phone you quickly send him a message back. ‘sorry, just not having a great day’.
A second later your screen is filled with an incoming FaceTime call from Luke. Groaning quietly you slide to answer it as you walk into the living room. “Hi,” you say quietly, flopping down onto the couch.
“What’s wrong?” Luke asks, skipping past a greeting.
“Nothing,” you mumble, fiddling with a loose thread on the blanket that was tossed over the back of your couch. “It’s not a big deal.”
“Alright,” Luke drawls, clearly not convinced. “So will you look after my dog?”
You can’t help but giggle, rolling your eyes. Luke was always there for you when things weren’t going well, even if he didn’t always know the appropriate responses to your emotions. “I don’t know if you’re even responsible enough to take care of a dog when you are home.”
“I am,” Luke defends quickly. “I just have to feed him and walk him.”
“And train him and brush him and take him to the vet and the dog groomer and make sure he’s getting enough exercise.”
“Yeah, yeah, I can do all that,” Luke says with a shrug. “I think it’ll be fun.”
“Sure,” you say with a quiet laugh. “I’ll look after him when you’re on the road if you get a dog.”
“Thank you,” Luke replies, smiling happily. “Now tell me why you’re so sad.”
Sighing loudly you toss your head back dramatically, staring up at the ceiling. “Quinn won’t talk to me,” you state quickly, knowing that if you didn’t just say it you wouldn’t be able to get the words out. “I called him last night, he won’t talk to me.”
“What did he say?”
“Literally nothing,” you mumble. “He said he didn’t have time to talk and he’s too busy to talk later.”
“He’s just upset about you and Holtzy,” Luke explains, as if you were completely in the dark as to why Quinn didn’t want to talk to you.
“I know, Luke, I’m not an idiot,” you exclaim, eyes flooding with tears again. “Sorry…I just…I don’t know what to do. I miss him.” Reaching up you quickly wipe away the tears that had pooled under your eyes.
“I know,” Luke mutters, nodding slowly. “Are you doing anything today?”
“Not really,” you tell him honestly, shrugging it off quickly.
“Get ready, I’m going to pick you up.”
“I don’t want to go anywhere, Luke,” you mutter, sighing quietly.
“You just want to sit there and cry alone all day?”
“Oh my god,” you whine, shaking your head. “Leave me alone.”
“I’ll be there in like forty-five minutes,” Luke tells you, hanging up before you can argue against it.
Sighing you pull yourself off the couch, finding an outfit for whatever this mysterious outing was. You busy yourself getting ready until Luke texts you, telling you he was there. Hurrying out of your apartment you find him idling on the street in front of your apartment building, hopping into his car. “Hi,” you greet, pulling your seatbelt on.
“Hey,” Luke replies, waiting till you were situated in your seat before pulling back out onto the road. “Do you want like a coffee or something?”
“You’re trying really hard, aren’t you?” you tease, giggling quietly.
“Yeah, I don’t want you to be sad,” Luke tells you. “But if you keep making fun of me I might stop.”
“No, please don’t,” you laugh. “Yeah, I’d love a coffee.”
Luke takes you to your favourite coffee shop, after you gave him step by step instructions of how to get there. With a latte in hand you climb back into Luke’s car, still unsure of where he was planning to take you.
“Where are we going?” you ask.
“It’s a surprise,” Luke tells you with a mischievous smile.
“I’m scared,” you joke, taking a sip of your coffee as you look out the window, trying to figure out where you could possibly be headed.
Shortly after Luke pulls into the parking lot of a large building, your eyes focusing on the sign out front. “You’re unbelievable,” you laugh, looking at the animal shelter in front of you.
“Come on, you know that seeing dogs is going to cheer you up.”
You follow Luke out of the car and towards the building. “We’re not leaving here with a dog, Luke,” you warn, stepping inside as Luke holds the door open for you.
After talking briefly with the woman at the front counter she guides you through the building to the dog kennels. “Looking to expand the family?” she asks with a friendly smile.
“What?” Luke asks cluelessly.
“No…we’re not, um, we’re-,” you begin.
“Ew,” Luke mutters.
Looking over at him you narrow your eyes, scoffing. “Well you don’t have to act like it would be disgusting,” you joke. “We’re just friends, he’s looking for a dog, I’m just the designated pet-sitter.”
“Well it’s always good to have a pet-sitter lined up,” she says uncertainly. “Anyway, I’ll leave you two to take a look, let me know if you have any questions.”
Walking over to one of the kennels you look at the tag on the door, reading it over. “Muffins,” you gush, looking at the small dog in the kennel. “His name is Muffins,” you repeat.
“Muffins is ugly,” Luke mutters from behind you, staring at the little dog with scraggly fur, bulging eyes, tear stains on his white fur. Reaching over you playfully whack Luke’s arm. “Don’t be mean to Muffins,” you scold.
“Look at this one,” Luke says, drawing your attention away from Muffins and to the large lab in the next kennel over.
“You’re so predictable,” you tease, reading the description of Dewey the lab. The two of you wander along the rows of kennels, fighting against falling in love with each and every one of the dogs. By the time you were leaving that afternoon you were covered in dog fur, no longer quite as sad as you had been when you woke up that morning.
Sitting in the car with Luke he scrolls through the pictures that he had taken of the dogs, clearly wanting to go back in and adopt one right then and there. Leaning over you look through the pictures with him, stopping him when he gets to a picture he took of you and one of the puppies. “Can you send that to me?”
“So you can post it on instagram?” Luke teases.
“Shut up,” you wine, rolling your eyes. “Yes.”
Luke chuckles, sending you the picture before setting his phone down. “What do you want to do now?”
“I don’t know, you’re the one who dragged me out.” Saving the photo to your phone you open instagram, adding the picture to your story with the caption ‘puppies really do make bad days better’, tagging Luke in the corner.
“You’re so dramatic,” Luke says, pulling out of the parking lot. “Are you still going to pretend you didn’t have fun?”
“No,” you say, shaking your head. “Thank you, Luke…I do feel a bit better.”
“Good.” Luke turns down another street, seemingly on the way back to your apartment. “Quinn’s just an idiot,” Luke says suddenly. “He’ll come around, I promise.”
“I don’t know,” you mumble, glancing over at Luke. “I think this is different.”
“Why?”
Shrugging you look down at your hands, fidgeting with your fingers. “Because he’s never been like this before. He’s never been mean to me before, he’s never said things like…that.”
“What did he say?”
“He basically called me a whore…I mean, not directly, but it was easy enough to figure out what he meant. He said that I don’t think about anyone other than myself and that he’s done with me.”
Luke is quiet for a few seconds before looking over at you when he stops at a red light. “What?” he finally mutters.
“Yeah,” you whisper, sniffling quietly. “Maybe it really is just time to move on. I just…I love him so much, I don’t know…it’s hard.”
“He’s an asshole,” Luke mutters under his breath. “I didn’t know that’s what he said to you,” Luke admits.
“I didn’t really want to talk about it,” you tell him with a shrug. “I mean, I guess maybe he’s right, maybe I was flirting with everyone, I don’t know. I’d take it all back, it never even meant anything to me, I didn’t realize it was affecting him like that…I just…I just want him back. Maybe things will never be more than they were before, maybe we’re not meant to be together or anything but to lose him altogether, as a friend…I can’t handle that.” You hadn’t even realized how quick your breathing had grown, tears streaming down your cheeks. “Sorry,” you mumble, wiping the tears from your face.
“You’re fine,” Luke assures you, glancing over with a smile so full of pity that it makes you want to hurl yourself out of the car. “Can I, um, can I do anything to help?”
Choking out a breath of laughter between your shaky breaths you shake your head. “No, I don’t think anyone can do anything to help.”
Luke turns into the parking lot of your apartment building, pulling into one of the visitor spots. “Well can I at least come hang out for a bit?”
“I’m not going to say no,” you tell him, picking your purse up from the floor of his car. “But you really don’t have to stay just because I’m sad.”
“You know that I actually like spending time with you, right? I don’t know why you’re acting like I’m doing you a favour.”
“I just don’t think that I’m that fun to be around right now.” Climbing out of his car you fish your keys from your purse, guiding Luke into the building.
“Remember when I had the flu and you spent like a week taking care of me?” Luke asks as he watches you press the button for the elevator. “Was I fun then?”
“I mean it was kinda funny,” you say with a playful smile. “I would never have expected a little flu to take you down so easily.”
“It was bad,” Luke defends, chuckling as he leans against the wall of the elevator.
A few minutes later the doors slide open and you guide Luke to your apartment, kicking off your shoes and heading for the couch. Luke joins you a minute later, grabbing the remote from the coffee table. “What do you want to watch?”
“You’re actually going to let me pick?” you ask in shock.
“You’re the one who’s sad,” Luke reminds you, handing the remote to you.
You pick your favourite show on Netflix, pulling your legs up onto the couch and curling up in the corner. You watch the show in silence for a few minutes before looking over at Luke, watching him type something on his phone. “Do you think he ever loved me?” you whisper, a feeling of shame washing over you for even asking the question, of wanting that reassurance.
Luke is quiet for a minute, as if he wasn’t sure how he should reply, like you were a ticking time bomb waiting for the next thing to set you off. “Yes.”
Nodding slowly you turn your attention back to the tv, your vision blurry as you stare through a layer of tears. You didn’t know what else to say, didn’t want to talk about anything else yet you didn’t want to talk about it either. So you remained silent, watching episode after episode till you were beginning to drift to sleep.
“Hey,” Luke whispers, gently shaking your shoulder.
Inhaling sharply your eyes fly open, glancing around in a tired shock. “Hm?” you hum. “What time is it?…How long was I asleep?”
“A few hours,” Luke tells you with a shrug. “I’m going to go home now though, I have practice in the morning. Do you want to come? I’ll give you my bed again.”
Shaking your head you sit up, blinking tiredly. “No, no, that’s okay…thank you though.”
“Are you sure? Are you going to be okay alone?”
“Luke, I’m fine,” you assure him, swinging your legs off the edge of the couch. Standing up you pull him into a hug, resting your head on his shoulder. “Thank you for coming over today. Text me when you get home, okay?”
Luke waits for you to pull away first before saying goodbye, heading out to drive back to his place. After waking up a bit more you find something for dinner, calling your best friend to talk, needing to get out of your head. You end up talking with her for most of the evening before heading to bed rather early, the intense emotions of the last couple days catching up with you.
The next morning you wake up early, trying to keep yourself busy so that you didn’t fall into the same sadness that you felt the day before. You couldn’t spend the rest of your life wallowing. After having breakfast you take your coffee and grab your laptop, heading to the living room to sit on the couch. You pay a few bills before opening your email, your eyes narrowing in on one email from 1:46am.
Flight Confirmation.
Nervously clicking on it you scroll down, confusion building when you see that it was indeed a flight booked under your name. Then your eyes fall to the destination. Vancouver. Glancing at the date you realize it’s for next weekend, your heart racing.
Picking up your phone you dial the number of the only person you thought would be buying you a flight to Vancouver. You listen to the dial tone for so long you begin to wonder if he wasn’t going to answer at all.
“Hi?” Quinn mutters, his voice groggy and tired.
Looking at the clock you realize how early it still was in Vancouver. “Shit, sorry, did I wake you up?”
“It’s fine,” Quinn mumbles. “Did you get the email?”
“Yes,” you whisper, your eyes not leaving the screen of your laptop. “Why?”
“Because I’m sorry,” Quinn says quietly. “I’m sorry I was such an asshole to you, I shouldn’t have treated you like that and I want to see you. If the date doesn’t work I can change the flight, just let me know when, I figured you have weekends off so I thought it would be better to pick a weekend but I know the flight is Friday morning so if you can’t leave that day I can just-.”
“This weekend is perfect,” you interrupt. “I’m sorry too, Quinn, I never meant to hurt you.”
“It’s okay,” Quinn assures you. “I miss you.”
“I miss you too,” you reply, not expecting your voice to grow shaky in the way it did. “I can let you get back to sleep now.”
“No, it’s okay, I was going to get up soon anyway.”
“Okay,” you whisper, still staring at the flight details on your laptop screen. “You didn’t need to buy me a first-class ticket, Quinn.”
“It’s the least I could do,” Quinn tells you quietly. “You’re going to let Luke get a dog?”
You can’t help but laugh at the question, pushing your laptop off your lap and curling up on the couch, staring out the window across the room. “I can’t really stop him…you’re his big brother though, maybe you should talk him out of it,” you tell him. “How long has he been talking about this?”
“Not long,” Quinn mumbles. “We talked yesterday.”
“Oh,” you whisper, wondering if wanting a dog was the only thing that Luke talked to Quinn about. “About a dog?”
Quinn is quiet for a little too long, your palms growing clammy, realizing that the answer probably wasn’t yes. “About you,” Quinn finally admits. “I um, I saw the Instagram story and called him. I just, uh…I wanted to make sure you were okay.”
“And he told you I’m not?” you ask, though it was more of a statement than a question.
“Not exactly,” Quinn replies. “He did make sure that I knew I was an asshole…not that I didn’t already know that.”
“If you already knew that why have you been refusing to talk to me, Quinn?”
Quinn sighs heavily, silence falling over the line. “Because I was hurt,” Quinn mumbles. “I was hurt and jealous and I don’t know…I just didn’t want to admit that. I’m sorry.”
You wanted to forgive him, wanted to tell him that it was okay. But it wasn’t. It wasn’t okay the way he treated you in Michigan, it wasn’t okay the way that the situation had played out since. Dismissing it, telling him it was fine, you knew that wasn’t going to help the situation. You needed to talk about it, to really discuss it. Maybe he was right in booking you the flight, maybe this just wasn’t a conversation that you could have over the phone.
“What should I pack for Vancouver?” you whisper, doing your best to change the topic.
Quinn hesitates a moment, clearly taken aback by the 180 degree change in the conversation. He tells you the plan for the weekend, primarily just that he had a game on Saturday, though he assured you that you didn’t need to go if you didn’t want to. You told him you did, making a mental note to add an outfit to wear to the game to your list.
You talked on the phone for nearly an hour before Quinn had to go, not wanting to be late for practice. You spend the rest of the day preparing for the week ahead, grocery shopping, meal prepping, laundry, all the chores that kept your mind busy.
The week went by slowly, each work day feeling never-ending. The closer you got to your 6am Friday flight the closer your anxiety gets to overtaking your excitement. Of course you wanted to see Quinn, wanted to make up for the months of not even speaking to each other. But you also knew that the point of this trip was to talk about what had happened, a conversation you were dreading having.
Friday morning you wake up at 4am, collecting your luggage and climbing into an Uber half asleep. You’re not fully awake till you’re on the plane, the six hours ahead of you seeming like they were going to stretch on forever.
By the time you landed in Vancouver your heart was hammering so heavily you were worried you might just drop dead of a heart attack right then and there. Your hands were shaky and clammy as you wiggled your carry-on out of the overhead compartment. You follow everyone off the plane, down the long hallway and to the arrivals area of the airport.
Weaving your way through everyone around you stopping to greet their loved ones your eyes scan the crowd of people still waiting. When your eyes land on Quinn you nearly stop walking altogether, your heart stopping for a moment. Three months of not even talking to him made it feel like years of not seeing him. Hesitantly you force yourself closer, not knowing what to expect when you get to him. But as soon as you’re close enough Quinn has his arms around you, pulling you close against him.
“Hi,” you whisper, fingers curling into the fabric of Quinn’s hoodie.
“Hi,” Quinn replies, pressing his lips to the top of your head. “How was your flight?”
“Really good,” you reply. “I’ve never flown first-class before.”
“I’ll make sure you only ever fly first-class from now on.”
“Stop,” you giggle, shaking your head. “A seat on a flight is good enough for me…especially if it means I get to see you.”
“I love you,” Quinn whispers in a way that makes your heart skip a beat. You had been telling each other you loved each other since childhood. In the same way that you told Jack and Luke that you loved them. But your love for Quinn was so different and you weren’t sure what his admission of love entailed. “Should we go get your suitcase?”
“Y-yeah,” you stammer, nodding quickly, thankful that Quinn had said something to break you from your train of thoughts. Heading to the baggage carousel you wait till you see your suitcase, dragging it off the carousel.
Quinn swoops in quickly, taking your bag from you. “Ready to go?” Quinn asks, gesturing towards the door.
Nodding you follow Quinn through the airport and out into the cool air outside, rain drops hammering onto the sidewalk. “People weren’t lying about how much it rains here,” you comment.
“You can wait here, I’ll bring the car around,” Quinn offers.
Shaking your head you step closer to Quinn. “No, it’s just rain, I’ll survive.”
Quinn slides his jacket off quickly, wrapping it around your shoulders.
“It’s okay,” you whisper, your eyes locking with his as he keeps his hands on the jacket wrapped around you. You slide your arms into the sleeves when you realize Quinn is not about to take the jacket back. “Thank you,” you tell him, pulling the fabric around your body. The jacket smells like Quinn, his body wash or cologne or maybe just his laundry detergent, but whatever it was it was it felt comforting, familiar.
Quinn picks up your suitcase again and you follow him through the parking lot, quickly climbing into the dry car. Quinn is in the driver’s seat a moment later, starting the car before looking over at you. “Thanks for coming.”
“I just want to figure this out,” you say quietly, pulling your seatbelt on. Glancing over at Quinn for a moment before you turn your attention back to the drops of rain landing on the windshield. “I can’t lose you, Quinn.”
Quinn reaches over, his hand sliding into yours, squeezing it gently. “I know I fucked up, but I promise you that I’m not going anywhere.”
Sniffling quietly you nod slowly, not entirely sure you believed him. Sure, you were here with him now. But it seemed so easy for him just weeks ago, to tell you that he simply didn’t have any time to talk.
“I’m sorry,” Quinn adds, squeezing your hand again before shifting the car into drive, pulling out of the parking spot.
You remain silent through the entirety of the drive, your mind racing with thoughts that brought tears to your eyes. You knew what was coming. You knew you needed to have a real conversation about what had happened in Michigan, about what was going to happen now. But you didn’t know how it would go, didn’t know what Quinn would say about it, and you were scared that somehow, someway, it would only make things worse.
When you get to Quinn’s apartment building you follow him inside, sliding his jacket off your body and hanging it in the closet by the door. You had never been to his apartment before, almost all of your time together was spent in Michigan.
“Are you hungry? Do you want something to eat or drink?” Quinn asks, walking into the kitchen.
Shaking your head you rest your hands on the counter, looking over at him. “I think we should talk.”
Quinn nods, sighing quietly. “Yeah,” he mumbles, nodding towards the living room. “Should we go sit down?”
“Sure.” Turning around you walk to the living room, sitting on one end of the large couch. Lifting your legs onto the couch you pull them to your chest, wrapping your arms around them in an attempt to comfort yourself. “I don’t really know what to say,” you admit.
“Me neither,” Quinn agrees, sitting on the edge of the couch, leaning forward, eyes focusing on the living room floor. “I know it’s not an excuse but I was so drunk that night,” Quinn begins, glancing over at you. “And I see the way people look at you, the way everyone just falls for you, which I get, but, I don’t know…it’s hard. Seeing you with Alex that day, on the dock, I was jealous,” Quinn rambles.
Nodding slowly you dig your fingers into your legs, forcing deep breaths into your lungs. “But you didn’t have to be so mean to me, Quinn. We could have just talked about it.”
“I know,” Quinn replies quickly, shaking his head. “I shouldn’t have said those things to you. I shouldn’t have treated you like that. I don’t have an excuse, I was hurt and drunk.”
“I didn’t mean to hurt you,” you whisper, your eyes prickling with tears again. You had never cried so much in such a short period of time, had never expected to. “You know that, right?”
Quinn shrugs, his elbows resting on his knees, leaning forward to stare at the ground. “Yeah, I mean, I guess.”
“Quinn,” you croak. “What do you mean you guess? I promise the last thing I would ever want to do is hurt you.”
“Then why did you do it?” Quinn snaps, turning his head to look over at you.
“I-,” you begin, shaking your head. “I don’t know, I really didn’t mean to, nothing I said or did with them meant anything, it was just-.”
“No?” Quinn interrupts with a scoff. “Nothing you did with Alex meant anything?”
“It wasn’t-,” you begin before getting interrupted again.
“Don’t lie to me,” Quinn interjects. “I’m not that fucking stupid. I saw your stories with him, I know when you were going out with Jack and Luke that Alex was there too. I know you went home with him after you guys went out drinking. If you’re going to sit there and tell me that none of that meant anything then maybe none of the stuff you said to me meant anything either.”
“That’s not true,” you plead, eyes glossy with tears. “I don’t know what you want me to say, Quinn. I’m sorry, I really am. Yeah, Alex and I were hanging out but that doesn’t mean what I said to you wasn’t true.”
“If it was true you wouldn’t be fucking one of my friends,” Quinn mutters.
Swallowing heavily you wipe away your tears, shaking your head. “You’re such an asshole,” you mumble under your breath.
“I’m the asshole?” Quinn snaps.
“Yes,” you exclaim, dropping your legs off the couch and standing up quickly. “You called me a whore, Quinn. You said such horrible things and now you have the audacity to get mad at me when I started spending time with someone who actually was nice to me after all that.”
“I did not call you a whore,” Quinn defends, staring up at you from where he was still sitting on the edge of the couch. "I would never say that."
“Maybe you didn’t use that word but how do you think I would take you telling me that I’m flirting with everyone, that I want the attention of every single man around? Do you know how bad that hurt, Quinn? You’re telling me that you’re not sure if you believe I didn’t mean to hurt you but you’re not acknowledging how much you hurt me.”
Quinn is quiet for a few seconds, his eyes falling back to the ground, not looking you in the eyes. “I didn’t mean to.”
“Maybe you should have thought about someone other than yourself then,” you tell him, repeating his words from that night in Michigan back to him. Maybe you shouldn’t be so petty. Maybe you should have been the bigger person. Maybe you should have let it go. But your heart was racing, your hands clammy, your mind scattered in a million directions and a part of you selfishly wanted him to feel the way you felt that night.
Quinn visibly flinches in response to your words, inhaling deeply. “I’m sorry,” Quinn breathes out.
You were already on your way towards his front door, body moving faster than your mind. Grabbing your purse you toss it onto your shoulder, yanking the same jacket Quinn had let you wear earlier off the hanger in the closet.
“Where are you going?” Quinn asks, hopping up from the couch and hurrying over to you.
“I don’t know,” you tell him honestly, spinning towards the front door. Your hand lands on the door handle just seconds before Quinn is wrapping his hand around your wrist. “Don’t,” you mumble, yanking your hand away from him. “And for the record, I didn’t sleep with Alex. I’ve never fucked any of your friends. But you can just keep believing whatever you want to believe if it makes you feel better about the way you treated me.” Yanking the door open you head out into the hallway, finding the stairs and hurrying down them.
Outside the rain is still pouring heavily from the sky and you begin walking quickly, continuing till you find a coffee shop. Inside you pull the soaking jacket from your body, laying it over your arm and heading to the till. After ordering yourself a coffee you find a seat tucked away in the corner of the coffee shop, watching the cars passing, the rain drops bouncing off the sidewalk.
You’re not there long before your phone begins vibrating. First with a call from Quinn. Then a text message. Then a couple more calls and a few more texts. Sure, you probably should have replied, but your mind was still racing a million miles an hour. All of your thoughts were so incredibly cloudy that you didn't even know what to say if you were to reply.
Eventually, long after your coffee cup is empty, your phone rings and this time it’s Jack. Sighing you slide to answer it, bringing the phone to your ear. “Hi,” you say quietly.
“Hi,” Jack replies with an audible sigh. “You okay?”
“I’m fine,” you tell him honestly, fiddling with the cardboard sleeve on your paper cup.
“Where are you? What’s going on? Are you sure you’re okay?”
“I’m in a coffee shop, Jack, I’m perfectly fine.”
“Quinn is freaking out,” Jack tells you. “Can you please just call him?”
“No,” you mumble, watching a man walking by with his dog, the dog’s hair plastered to their body with rain. “I want to come home, Jack.”
“Oh my god,” Jack groans. “You two are so fucking annoying.”
“Fuck you,”  you whisper, glancing around to make sure nobody in the quiet coffee shop could hear you. “Why would you say that? I haven’t done anything.”
“Both of you need to get over what happened in Michigan,” Jack tells you.
“Tell him that,” you mutter, rolling your eyes to nobody but yourself at that table.
“I did,” Jack exclaims. There’s a few seconds of silence after he says it, unable to think of anything to say. Because he was right, you both needed to be honest. You both did and said things you wished you hadn’t, both made mistakes. “Do you want me to book you a flight home?” Jack finally asks.
“No, it’s okay…thank you though.”
“So are you going to go back to Quinn’s place or do you want me to book you a hotel room?”
“I could book my own hotel room if I wanted to,” you tell him with a quiet sigh.
“You’re always complaining that you’re broke,” Jack comments.
“I know how much money you make, Jack, I’m broke in comparison.”
“I’m never buying you drinks again,” Jack replies with a chuckle.
“Please,” you say with a giggle.
“If you go talk to Quinn and figure out whatever is going on with you two and leave me out it, then I’ll consider buying your drinks when we go out again.”
“Fine,” you whine playfully. “What do I even say to him?”
“I don’t know, just go talk to him. I’m sure you two will figure it out.”
“I’m scared,” you admit.
“Why are you scared?” Jack asks, a sudden intensity in his tone.
“What if he never forgives me?”
“Just go talk to him,” Jack sighs. “He’s losing his mind right now, just go talk to him.”
“Fine, I’ll go back,” you groan. Standing up you pick up Quinn’s jacket from the back of the chair, pulling it on. “I’m sorry you had to get involved in this,” you tell Jack, picking up your empty coffee cup to toss it into the garbage on the way out the door.
“It’s fine,” Jack assures you. “Just figure this out, okay?”
“Okay…we’ll try,” you tell him. “I’ll talk to you later.”
“Good luck,” Jack says.
“Thank you,” you say with a sigh, stepping outside. “Bye, Jack,” you say before hanging up. Hurrying through the rain you make your way back to Quinn’s apartment, stopping outside to text him to let him know you were back.
Quinn is down in the lobby a second later, letting you inside. “I’m sorry,” Quinn says as a greeting, reaching over and pulling you into his arms. Your jacket is soaked, seeping into the fabric of his hoodie.
“Let’s just go upstairs,” you mumble, though if you were being honest the last thing you wanted to do was let go of him.
Quinn pulls back, guiding you back into his apartment. You’re quiet as you pull off the jacket, kicking your shoes off a second later. Following Quinn back to the living room you slowly sit down, sighing quietly. “I talked to Jack.”
“I figured,” Quinn mumbles, sitting down across from you. “I’m really sorry.”
“Me too,” you mumble, looking across the couch at him. “I-,” you begin, eyes filling with tears again. “I don’t know how to deal with this, Quinn, I can’t lose you. I love you so much. I don’t know…I don’t know what to do.”
Quinn slides closer to you, pulling you into his arms. “I love you too,” Quinn tells you, pressing his lips to your forehead. “You’re not going to lose me. I’m not going anywhere, okay?” Nodding slowly you clutch at Quinn’s arms, holding him tight against you. “I’m sorry for everything I did, everything I said. I promise I’ll never talk to you like that again. I don’t expect you to forgive me right now, I know what I did was horrible.”
“I do,” you whisper, pulling back to look up at him. “I do forgive you, Quinn. I know you’re sorry, I really do. I just need you to stop holding me flirting with other people over me. We weren’t together. I’m sorry that I didn’t realize the way it was making you feel, I really am. But I wasn’t trying to hurt you, I wasn’t doing it to make you feel bad.”
Quinn reaches down, taking your hands in his, squeezing them gently. “I know we weren’t together, I know you weren’t doing anything wrong and I’m sorry.”
“It’s okay,” you whisper, reaching up to wipe away a few tears that had slipped from your eyes. You weren’t even sure why you were crying anymore. Relief, exhaustion, an overwhelming level of emotions. “What now?”
Quinn shrugs, glancing over at the TV. “Do you want to go somewhere? Or do you want to just stay here and hang-out?”
“Stay here,” you tell him laughing quietly. You didn’t need a mirror to know that your eyes were swollen and red, that your skin was splotchy from all the tears you had shed. “If that’s okay with you.”
“Of course,” Quinn assures you, reaching over and picking up the remote. He hands it to you before leaning back on the couch, watching as you turn the tv on. “We can order dinner too, just let me know when.”
Picking up your phone you look at the time. It had been a long day but you were still shocked to see that it was nearing 6pm already. You pick a show, watching an episode before the two of you order dinner. The rest of the evening goes by quickly, most of it spent in relative silence as you watch a few more episodes of the show you had put on.
Eventually Quinn shows you to the guest room and you change into some pyjamas before settling into the bed. You fall asleep easily that night. Maybe it really was just because the bed was so comfortable, but you’re sure there was more to it than that.
When you wake up the next morning Quinn is already gone for morning skate, a note on the kitchen counter letting you know he would be back that afternoon. The note also told you that there was coffee in the cupboard and to help yourself to anything else you wanted. You were almost certain he bought the coffee specifically for you, something you confirmed when you found it unopened in the cupboard. After making yourself a cup you head to the living room, watching TV while waiting for him to get home.
The sound of the front door opening draws your attention just a little after 12pm. “Hey,” Quinn greets, walking over to sit on the couch next to you. “How was your morning? I didn’t want to wake you before I left.”
“It was good, I slept in, that bed is really comfortable,” you tell him, moving closer and wrapping your arms around him. You rest your head on his shoulder, feeling his arms circle around you, pulling you closer.
“It’s not bad,” Quinn says with a chuckle. “My bed is better.”
“Are you bragging? Because I am your guest and that’s kind of rude,” you tease, pulling back slightly to look into his eyes.
“Maybe a bit…but I’m not stopping you from sleeping in it with me so I don't think it's that rude.”
“I don’t know, the last time I slept in a bed with you seemed like the beginning of the whole disaster,” you joke.
“Too soon,” Quinn chuckles, shaking his head. He stands up and reaches down, taking your hand and pulling you to your feet. “Come on.”
“Where?” you ask, though you’re in his bedroom before he has the chance to answer you. You watch him lay down on one side of the bed, gesturing for you to take the other side. Walking over you lay down beside him, rolling onto your side to face him. “It is really comfy,” you admit.
“I wasn’t lying,” he tells you with a chuckle. "I do need to have a nap before the game though."
"That's why you brought me in here? To break the new sthat you need to have a nap?"
"Kinda," Quinn admits. "And because I did actually want to brag about the bed."
Rolling your eyes playfully you sit up, looking down at him. "Okay, Grandpa. What 24-year-old gets this excited about a bed?"
"It was expensive," Quinn exclaims.
"I'm sure it was," you reply with a giggle. "Do you want me to tuck you in for your nap before I go or are you okay all by yourself?"
"Get outta here," Quinn jokes, shaking his head.
Giggling you climb off the bed, heading back to the living room to continue keeping yourself busy for the afternoon. It wasn't hard, after an episode of your favourite show you head to the bathroom, finding a towel and hopping into the shower. By the time you're out of the shower Quinn is already up, startling you as you step out of the bathroom in nothing but a towel.
"You scared me," you breathe out, clutching the towel to your naked body.
"It's my apartment," Quinn says with a chuckle. "Why are you not expecting me to be here?"
"I thought you'd still be napping. Must need a lot of beauty sleep to look that cute," you tease, stepping past him towards the bedroom.
"We can't all just be naturally cute like you," he comments before you disappear behind the closed door of the guest bedroom. It was such an insignificant comment but you couldn't stop your stomach from filling with butterflies regardless.
Later that afternoon you're in the bathroom, running your fingers through your hair, fixing it slightly. Your eyes shift over your shoulder, seeing Quinn appear in the mirror behind you. Your lips curl into a soft smile, eyes drifting up and down his body. Quinn was always attractive to you but you were more used to Quinn in a t-shirt and shorts at the lake than Quinn in a suit before a game.
“You look good,” you tell him, turning around to look at him. Leaning back against the counter you watch Quinn walk closer. “Very handsome,” you add, running your fingers over the lapels of his suit jacket once he’s close enough to you.
“You look good too,” Quinn mumbles, his hands landing on your hips.
You feel your breath catch in your throat, swallowing heavily. “Can’t believe this is the first time I get to see you play in Vancouver.”
“Hopefully it won’t be the last,” Quinn replies, stepping close enough to cause your heart to hammer heavily in your chest. “You sure you’re going to be okay to get there alone tonight?”
“I’m positive,” you whisper, your eyes flicking down to his lips. Your heart was hammering so fast in your chest you were sure it was about to burst. “Good luck tonight,” you whisper.
Quinn smiles softly, leaning in a little closer. “Thank you,” he mumbles, his lips nearly brushing against yours. You could feel your breath catch in your throat, your hands running up his chest, resting you arms over his shoulders. Just seconds before your lips touch his your phone rings loudly on the counter beside you, making you jump.
Laughing you pull back, pressing your hand over your heart. “Oh my god,” you breathe out, reaching over to silence your phone. “Sorry,” you add with a sheepish smile. “Really ruined the moment there.”
Quinn chuckles, leaning in to kiss your forehead quickly. “I’ll text you later, okay?”
You couldn’t deny the disappointment you were feeling that the moment really was ending this way. But you knew that Quinn said he was already running late and you weren’t about to make him any later. “Okay,” you whisper, watching him turn around and head out of the bathroom.
You order yourself dinner after Quinn leaves, hanging out by yourself until you needed to head to the arena. The sky is dark already as you climb into the Uber outside Quinn’s apartment building, pulling your seatbelt on.
“Going to the Canucks game?” you Uber driver asks you, looking at you through the mirror.
“Yeah,” you tell him with a nod and a friendly smile. “First Canucks game here.”
“First game ever?”
You can’t help but laugh, shaking your head. “No, I’ve been to a few before. Never in Vancouver though.”
“Oh, really? Who’d you see play before?”
“Mostly the Devils,” you tell him, realizing the more information you gave the more you would need to explain. “I’m just here visiting a friend.”
“You’re from New Jersey?”
“No, I live in New York now.”
You watch him glance back at you, clearly not following along. “Something against the Rangers?”
“I guess you could say that,” you tell him with a shrug. You’re at the arena shortly after, heading in and finding your seat.
The game passes quickly, your attention on Quinn throughout the entirety of the game. It was different than watching Jack and Luke play. It felt more intense, like the outcome of the game would somehow be an indicator of the outcome of this entire trip.
When the game ends and the Canucks win with a score of 4-2 you can't help but feel a mixture of relief and happiness. It really did feel like a good omen of sorts.
You wait around the arena after the game, doing your best to fill the time till Quinn was ready to leave. You scroll though Instagram, liking post after post till you hit the point of not having a single new thing to look at. Eventually Quinn finds you, pulling you into a tight hug.
“Congratulations,” you whisper, not pulling back. “You’re even more impressive to watch in person.”
Quinn laughs at your comment, shaking his head. He had always been humble, refusing to accept your compliments. “Do you want to go out for a drink or something? I know it’s kind of late but you flew all the way up here, I don’t want you to just have to stay in my apartment the whole time.”
Giggling you lean up closer, your hands on his shoulders. “I’d be fine staying in your apartment with you the whole time.” You lean in a little closer, lips almost brushing against his. “Doing anything with you,” you whisper.
“You coming out with us or what?” someone calls, making you jump back from Quinn, turning in the direction of the voice.
Quinn places his hands on your hips, pulling your body back against him. “No, I think we’re just going to do our thing.”
The man in front of you chuckles, shooting Quinn a knowing look. “Sounds good, man, see you later,” he says before heading off in the other direction.
Giggling you spin around, looking up at Quinn. “Well, where are we going for drinks?”
Quinn reaches his hand down, sliding it into yours. “It’s a surprise,” he tells you. Guiding you out of the arena and to his car Quinn opens the passenger door for you. You climb into the car, pulling on your seatbelt. A few minutes later you’re on your way, heading downtown.
The lounge Quinn takes you to is small and intimate. The table you’re seated at is equally as intimate, tucked away in the back of the restaurant. Opening the menu your eyes scan over the options, more specifically the prices on that menu. Glancing over at Quinn you watch him look at the menu himself. It wasn’t that you didn’t have the money for the drinks, you just never would have picked a place so expensive yourself. You had also never seen this side of Quinn. You weren’t oblivious, you knew he had money. But you were so used to him with a bottle of some middle-of-the-road beer he picked up at the liquor store on the way to the lake house that you could barely picture him ordering a $25 cocktail.
“Do you know what you’re going to get?” Quinn asks before looking up from the menu, an uncertain smile on his face when he realizes that you're already looking at him. “What?”
“Nothing,” you say, shaking your head as you look back to the menu. “No, I’m not sure yet. What are you getting?”
“A sazerac, probably,” Quinn tells you with a shrug, the menu already closed letting you know it was most likely more than just probably.
“What’s that?” you whisper, your eyes scanning the menu again.
“Whisky,” Quinn tells you with a quiet chuckle. “Kind of like an old fashioned.”
“Right,” you drawl, nodding slowly. You couldn’t say you were that familiar with the old fashioned either but at least you knew what it was. “I think I’ll try the clover club.”
A few minutes later you order your drinks and you lean back in your chair, gazing across the table at Quinn. Was this a date? You hadn’t even stopped long enough to consider that possibility. You had gone out so, so many times before that you didn’t think the suggestion to go out this time was anything different than that.
“What are you thinking about?” Quinn asks uncertainly.
“You,” you whisper, with a small shrug. “Us,” you add a moment later.
“What are you thinking about us?” Quinn presses, leaning a little closer.
“I don’t really know,” you admit, glancing down at the table for a second. “Do you think there’ll ever be an us to really think about?”
Quinn swallows heavily, silence falling between the two of you as he stares across the small table at you. His silence makes you nervous, shifting in your chair under the intensity of his gaze. “I hope so,” he eventually tells you.
“I-,” you begin, your sentence getting cut short as your server returns with your drinks. She sets a coupe glass in front of you filled with a pink liquid, three perfect raspberries balanced across the top of the glass on a cocktail skewer. “It’s so cute.”
“It’s fitting,” Quinn says, picking up his glass and taking a drink of his own cocktail.
You can’t hold back your smile at Quinn’s comment, rolling your eyes playfully. “Okay, Casanova,” you tease.
“Am I not allowed to flirt with you now?”
Giggling you shake your head, “of course you can,” you tell him before picking up your glass and taking a sip. It’s stronger than you expected, catching you off guard as you slowly set it back down. Maybe that’s why they were so expensive. “I asked for some time off work before I came out here,” you say suddenly, watching Quinn closely, trying to gauge his reaction. Of course it had been presumptuous of you to take the time off before discussing it, but you had the vacation days anyway and you had assumed two days probably wouldn’t feel like long enough.
“Yeah?” Quinn says, reaching over and taking your hand, running his thumb across the back of it. “Does that mean you’re staying longer?”
Shrugging you stare down at your interlocked hands. “Depends if you want me to stay.”
“Of course…I don’t want you to leave yet,” Quinn tells you with a reassuring squeeze of your hand.
“Good, because I don’t want to leave yet either,” you tell him. Picking up your glass you take another sip of your drink, the liquid going down a lot smoother now that you were expecting it.
The two of you sit there at that table for hours, over multiple drinks and a couple appetizers. Your conversation is comfortable, the issues that had brought you to Vancouver in the first place no longer seeming so heavy or intense. Quinn pays the bill at the end of the night and your previous thoughts about the possibility of the evening being a date come flooding back into your mind.
Walking back into Quinn’s apartment you kick off your shoes, sliding your jacket off. “Thank you for tonight,” you say as you hang your jacket in the coat closet.
Quinn glances over at you, eyebrows furrowed. “Thanks for what?”
Shrugging you lean against the wall behind you. “I don’t know…taking me out, showing me a bit of Vancouver, paying for the bill.”
“It wasn’t a big deal,” Quinn assures you. “I wanted to.”
Reaching over you take Quinn’s hands in yours and pull him in front of you. “Just take the thank you, Quinn,” you whisper.
“Okay, fine…you’re welcome,” Quinn mumbles, staring down at you.
There’s an intensity in the moment, a heaviness in the air. Your heart was racing so fast, stomach filled with butterflies. The apartment is silent, so silent you begin to wonder if Quinn can hear it all. The shakiness in your breath, the hammering of your heart in your chest. The apartment is dim, lit by a single warm lightbulb a few feet away. Your eyes gravitate down to his lips and this time you don’t care how obvious it is.
He begins to lean in and your patience quickly wears thing, fingers grasping at the fabric of his shirt, pulling him down to press your lips to his. His hands land on your hips, pulling them closer to him, your shoulder blades pressing back into the wall. Sliding your hand up you tangle your fingers in his hair, your tongue brushing against his. His grasp on your hips tightens, a quiet moan slipping from your lips.
Your mind was hazy, your emotions overwhelming. Your body was begging for more, his hands on your body felt intoxicating. Sliding your arm over his shoulder you lean your body further into him, desperate to be as close to him as you could, desperate for more. When you pull away it’s to catch your breath, steady the racing of your heart. “I love you,” you whisper against his lips.
“I love you too,” Quinn replies, pressing another gentle kiss to your lips. He’s smiling when he pulls back, reaching down to take your hand. He guides you into the living room, sitting down and pulling you down beside him. He places his hand on your thigh, fingers just a little too high for your mind not to be filled with less-than-PG thoughts. “Do you want to watch a movie or something?”
“I, um, y-yeah,” you stammer. Quinn knows what he’s doing and you can tell by the smirk on his lips as he hands you the remote. Taking it from him you put something on the TV, the very first movie you could find that seemed alright.
You’re not watching the movie long before you feel Quinn’s fingers move on your thigh, a heavy breath escaping your lips. Your eyes flicker down to this hand, watching him brush his thumb on your leg. When you turn your attention to Quinn you see that he’s not watching the movie at all, his eyes are locked on you.
Pushing his hand off your thigh you swing your leg over his body, your hands resting on his shoulders as you lean down to kiss him. It’s fast and eager, your back arching as you roll your hips forward.
“Fuck,” Quinn breathes out as he pulls back. “Baby, you’re…,” he begins, cutting himself off with a strangled moan. You didn’t need him to finish the sentence, you knew what you were doing when you felt him growing hard beneath you.
His hands slide underneath your shirt, his fingers warm against your skin as he slides them up your waist. Pulling back you let him tug your shirt off, dropping it onto the ground beside you. Quinn leans closer, pressing his lips to yours as he unhooks your bra. You feel your bra come undone and you pull back. Your eyes lock with Quinn’s as you slowly slide the bra down your arms. It wasn’t like it was the first time he had seen you naked, but this time it was different. This time you were inviting him to do far more than just skinny dip with you.
Setting the bra down Quinn places his hands on your waist, sliding further down towards the edge of the couch. Leaning in your lips lock with his again, your body begging for more. “Quinn,” you whimper against his lips.
“Yes, baby?” he mumbles, his hands exploring your body, sliding to your hips as he tugs you in a little closer.
“I need you…please,” you whisper.
He doesn’t need you to say anything more, standing up and pulling you with him. He leads you into his bedroom, pushing you across the room till the backs of your thighs hit the mattress. Laying back on the bed you gasp in surprise as he lifts you further onto the bed, hovering over you as he unbuttons your jeans. “Quinn,” you gush.
“What?” he asks with a smirk, pulling your jeans down your legs as you lift your hips to make it easier.
“I just didn’t expect…this,” you tell him, sitting up as you push his shirt up his torso, letting him take over and toss it aside.
“I can slow down,” he offers, running his hands down your thighs.
“No,” you say quickly, giggling at your own eagerness. “Please, don’t,” you add.
Quinn chuckles, nodding as he leans down, pressing his lips to your inner thigh. He moves further up your thigh, and each time his lips brush against your skin your body jolts with desire. Slowly he pulls your underwear down your legs, letting them drop onto the floor. Your breathing is heavy by the time his tongue brushes against the spot that you had been nearly begging for.
“O-oh,” you gasp as he flicks his tongue over your clit. You weren’t sure what you were expecting but whatever it was you weren’t expecting it to feel this good.
Your fingers tangle in his hair, back arching as you moan loudly. “Fuck,” you breathe out, breathing heavily. His hands wrap around your thighs, your fingers curling into the fabric of the comforter on the bed, trying to keep yourself still as waves of pleasure rip through you.
Your body flushes with warmth, desperate to reach your climax as your hips begin to squirm. Quinn presses his arm against your hips, stilling them as his tongue flicks against your clit. “Oh fuck,” you whine, moaning loudly. A second later your muscles are tensing, waves of pleasure ripping through your body. “O-oh my god,” you cry out, flinching away from his tongue when the sensation grows too intense. “Okay, okay,” you mumble, hands cradling his face as you tug him back to your lips. Pressing your lips to his you kiss him deeply, your legs wrapping around his torso. “Please,” you whimper.
“Please, what?” Quinn teases.
Your breath leaves your lips shakily, eyes locked with his. “Please…I want you inside of me,” you plead.
Quinn leans in, kissing you gently before climbing off the bed. You watch him open the nightstand, grabbing a condom. You reach over, taking his hand and pulling him towards you, till he was standing in front of where you were sitting on the edge of the bed. Looking up at him you unbutton his pants, slowly pushing them down.
“Fuck,” Quinn breathes out, his hand on the back of your head, fingers weaving into your hair. You slide his underwear off a second later, your hand wrapping around his erection. Leaning down you swirl your tongue around his tip, taking him into your mouth a second later. He lets out a shuttering groan, his fingers grasping at your hair. “Holy shit,” he mutters.
You take him as far into your mouth as you can each time you bob your head up and down, suppressing your gags as your eyes well with tears from the sensation. You can feel the saliva building in your mouth, wrapping your hand around the base of his cock, the saliva dripping down onto your fingers. Moving your free hand to Quinn’s thigh you readjust on your knees, the hardwood floor below you is not particularly comfortable, but the quiet groans he’s making make it worth it.
A few minutes later Quinn pulls back and you wipe your lips with the back of your hand, staring up at him. “You’re so beautiful,” Quinn mutters, running his thumb along your bottom lip. He leans down to kiss you again, gentle and slow.
Pulling back Quinn opens the condom, sliding it on quickly. Scooting back on the bed you reach up, grabbing his hand and pulling him down on top of you. He kisses you passionately as he slides his hand between your legs, fingers brushing over your entrance before slowly pushing one finger inside you. He moves slowly at first, brushing up slightly, sliding another finger inside you a minute later, your moans growing in volume.
He pulls his hand back quickly, wrapping around his dick, sliding himself inside you. It’s slow at first, almost teasing as he watches you beneath him, moaning quietly. “Oh my god,” you whimper, your hands grasping onto his shoulders. “You feel so good inside me,” you whisper as he picks up the speed, each thrust sending waves of pleasure through your body.
Leaning up Quinn places his hands on the backs of your thighs, gently pushing your legs back further. Sliding your hand down you run your fingers over your clit, Quinn watching you for a moment as your moans grow in frequency. “Oh, fuck,” Quinn groans, tipping his head back to look up at the ceiling. “I’m close.”
Your fingers pick up speed when you hear Quinn say he’s close, bringing yourself to the brink of orgasm just a moment later. As your body is overtaken by the familiar tensing of your muscles you cry out in pleasure, your free hand wrapping around Quinn’s bicep, fingers digging into his arm.
Quinn finishes just a minute after you, groaning as his thrusts slow in pace, slowly pulling himself out of you. He leans down and kisses your forehead gently before pushing himself off the bed, heading towards the bathroom as he takes off the condom.
Laying on the bed you stare at the ceiling, trying your best to catch your breath. It had been awhile since you had sex in general but a very long time since you had sex that felt that good. Your hand rests on your bare torso, rising and falling with each heavy breath. You turn your head to the side when Quinn returns, tugging on a pair of underwear before sitting on the bed beside you. “How are you feeling?” he asks.
“Good,” you tell him with a giggle. “Really good.”
“Good,” Quinn echoes with a chuckle, leaning down to quickly peck your lips. “I’m going to get us some water, do you want anything else?”
Shaking your head you sit up, tugging your underwear back on. “No, just the water would be great.”
“I’ll be right back,” Quinn tells you, kissing your forehead again before leaving the bedroom.
Pulling the blankets back you slide under them, realizing just how tired you really were. Quinn returns a minute later, setting a glass of water on the nightstand beside you. He joins you in bed, reaching over and pulling you closer. His fingers brush against your back, your arm resting on his chest.
“Was tonight a date?” you whisper.
A soft breath of laughter leaves Quinn’s lips as he tips his head up to look at you. “Well I thought it was but that’s kind of embarrassing if you didn’t.”
Giggling you lift your head, looking up at him. “I didn’t know but that doesn’t mean I didn’t want it to be.” Rolling over you slide one leg over his body, straddling him as you lean in, your lips hovering over his. “We can call it a date but I don’t usually kiss on the first date and look at where tonight went,” you joke.
“Well I’m definitely looking forward to the second date then,” Quinn replies with a chuckle, his hands on your hips as he rolls you off of him to hover over you. “I’ll make sure you know it’s a date next time,” he says with a smirk, kissing you gently. “Get you some flowers or something.”
“Ooh,” you say with a giggle, running your fingers along his arm. “I love flowers.”
“I’ll get you all the flowers you ever want.”
“I didn’t expect you to be so romantic, Quinn,” you tease, leaning up to peck his cheek.
Quinn shrugs, settling onto the bed beside you. “I’m not normally.”
Rolling your eyes playfully you shake your head. “Okay…whatever you say.”
“I’m being serious,” Quinn assures you with a quiet laugh.
Turning your head your eyes meet with his and you realize he’s not joking. “Well please don’t stop, I like it.”
“I won’t,” Quinn promises, leaning over and kissing your forehead gently.
Smiling softly you curl in closer to Quinn, letting your eyes fall shut as you feel the steady rise and fall of his chest under your hand. It doesn’t take long for you fall asleep in his arms, feeling an overwhelming sense of contentment that extends into your dreams, lulling you into a deep sleep.
Your eyes flutter open the next morning, rolling onto your side in the dim bedroom, the blinds blocking out the early morning light. “Good morning,” you whisper when you watch Quinn’s eyes open, turning on his side to face you.
Quinn reaches over, brushing your hair behind your ear. “Morning,” he mumbles with a tired smile. “How’d you sleep?”
“Really good,” you whisper, unable to contain your own smile. “Did you sleep okay?” Rolling onto your stomach you move closer to him, resting your arm on his chest.
“Yes,” Quinn replies, his hand sliding down to rest on your lower back. “Was last night okay?”
“More than okay,” you assure him, drawing imaginary shapes on his chest with your fingertips. “What do you want to do today?” you ask him, knowing it was one of very few days where he wasn’t doing something for hockey.
Quinn shrugs, brushing his thumb along the skin of your lower back, sending a shiver of pleasure up your spine. “Anything as long as it’s with you.”
“What a coincidence…that’s also what I want to do today.”
You spend most of the morning in the apartment, not going more than a few minutes here and there without touching each other in some manner. Brief kisses here and there, a hand on your back, your arms wrapped around him. The afternoon brings you out of the apartment and into the streets of Vancouver, Quinn showing you around the rainy city.
You spend the rest of the week at Quinn’s apartment. Watching movies on the couch, making dinners, going to another one of his games, afternoons spent at his kitchen table working through projects your laptop. You spent a night alone there when he had a road game, curled up on the couch in one of his t-shirts, watching the game on the TV in his living room. Everything felt so comfortable, so normal. Like this was the life you were supposed to be living. Just you and Quinn in an apartment together.
But no matter how good it felt you knew it wasn’t going to last. You had to go home, had to get back to your job and the classes that you were barely keeping up with online. It didn’t matter how much you wanted to continue living in this blissful state with Quinn, it just wasn’t reasonable.
Your time in Vancouver had to come to an end, the time slipping by so much faster than normal. Before you knew it you didn’t have another day or even another night together.
You force a deep breath into your lungs, the lights in the airport feeling too bright, the air a little too cold, the bustling of people a little too loud. “Well,” you whisper, blinking quickly as you glance around, at anything and everything but Quinn. You were certain that if you looked at him a little too long you wouldn’t be able to keep it together. “I, um, I guess I should go…don’t want to miss my flight,” you mumble, though if you were being honest you wouldn’t be too upset if you did miss your flight.
Quinn nods, reaching over and pulling you into him. The two of you stand there in silence, neither one wanting to pull back, not wanting the inevitable to happen. “I’m going to miss you.”
Sniffling quietly you curl your fingers into his hoodie. “Me too,” you whisper, pulling back just enough to look up at him, your hands still on his arms. “Don’t get too busy that you can’t talk to me when I call,” you joke, a sad breath of laughter following. Reaching up you wipe away your tears as you take a small step back.
“Never,” Quinn assures you, a clear hesitation as he lets you go. “Have a good flight.”
“Thank you,” you whisper, slowly turning around and heading towards the security line. You don’t look back, didn’t want him to see the stream of tears that you had been holding in all morning running down your cheeks. You fight through your emotions till you're through security, finding yourself a seat to hide away from the rest of the world as the sleeves of your hoodie grow damp with the tears you’re wiping from your face.
Who would have thought that leaving on such great terms would be just as hard as leaving thinking you were never going to see him again.

You’ve always had a thing for Bob’s hands.
They were one of the first things you noticed about him that day at the coffee shop almost a year ago now.
You’d been reaching for your iced vanilla cinnamon latte when a big hand had wrapped around it just a half of a second before you could grab it. Which you wouldn’t have minded admiring them for a moment under any other circumstances, but after an endless string of meetings you’d been in a dire need of a caffeine fix- and not the weak stuff that people brewed in your office’s communal coffee pot.
“I think that’s-” you’d started.
“Oh, I’m sorry-” the coffee thief backpedaled.
The next thing you knew you were looking into the prettiest pair of ocean blue eyes.
The two of you were startled out of the moment when the barista called out the next order as they’d set it on the counter.
By some kismet or fate, they had been a matching set. But instead of embroidered towels, it was his and hers coffee cups with your names written on them in a hasty scrawl.
Realization dawned over his features as he gave you a sheepish smile, “Think this one might belong to you, Miss.” He spun the coffee until he found the spot with your name. That little smile becoming a full grin as he’d said it aloud before passing the cup to you.
The hands had been good, the eyes had been great, but Bob’s smile directed at you had left you weak in the knees.
You’d been a goner right then and there.
And while you’d ended up almost ten minutes late to your next meeting, you’d also gone back to the office with his phone number written on a cardboard coffee sleeve that was tucked away safely in your purse and a date lined up later that week.
As it turned out fate had a name and it was Robert Floyd.
Barely twenty minutes into your first official date with Bob, his ears had turned a delightful shade of pink as his anxious fingers straightened the silverware on the white linen tablecloth of the Italian spot he’d taken you to. He’d fessed up and apologized as he came clean, telling you that he’d purposefully ordered the same coffee as you in hopes of getting to start up a conversation with the pretty girl who’d been standing in front of him in line.
“I didn’t want to interrupt you, since you looked busy. But I didn’t want to miss my chance,” he’d confessed over candlelight.
He’d told you how he’d only been at the coffee shop because he’d recently returned from a deployment and was fighting the jetlag that came with adjusting to being back on Pacific Standard Time, and that he normally preferred tea but he needed something with a bit more to it to get him through the day.
Instead of getting up and taking the bottle of wine to-go as a consolation prize, like you would have if it had been anyone else, his genuine earnestness had charmed you instantly. And you’d settled on having a second date with him before the first one had even really started.
You only let him sweat it for about thirty seconds before you took pity on him. With a light fingertip, you traced along one of the veins on the back of his hand and simply asked, “So other than being a meet cute mastermind, what is it that you do for a living, Bob?”
It was the best first date you’d ever had.
For your second date with him, you’d bought tickets to a ‘Paint and Sip’ event at a buzzy new bistro in town your friend had told you about.
You weren’t an artist by any means, but during that dinner date his antsy fingers and expressive hands had clued you into how nervous he’d been. You’d found your eyes drifting to them on more than one occasion. Partly because they were so enticingly disproportionate to the rest of him, but also because you couldn’t look him directly in the eye for too long without feeling your face heating up.
You thought it would be a good way for the both of you to work past the getting-to-know-you jitters, something that would keep your hands and eyes occupied enough to relax a bit more and have fun together.
Although instead of the seascape class you’d thought you’d signed up for, you’d willingly paid $86+ tax to watch Bob’s lithe, long fingers delicately grip a paintbrush in a way you thought was going to make you lose your mind.
You’d spent the whole first hour trying and failing to mix the perfect shade of blue before giving up when you’d realized that the man next to you, in addition to having really great hands, was also very good at painting.
Bob had seemed surprised by that too because he’d kept flushing that wonderful shade of pink that had quickly become your new favorite color every time you complimented his piece.
He had steady, capable hands. But you were quickly learning that everything about Bob Floyd seemed that way. There was a quiet confidence about him. He didn’t shy away from the way he’d openly observed you, like you were a riddle he was enjoying learning to decode.
You’d never known a man to be so attentive until him.
Bob’s tongue was peeking out as he’d worked on adding some wispy clouds to the top of his piece. You weren’t even sure what step you’d technically stopped at before you’d given up to watch the visual feast of him painting instead. Only halfheartedly adding random bits to your canvas along the way to make sure it wasn’t totally blank by the end of the session.
You’d been so zoned out watching him create that it was like a slow-motion sequence in a horror movie. You’d reached out for your wine glass, lifting it to your lips to take a sip, it had only taken you a split second to realize it wasn’t the full-bodied red you’d ordered that was coating your tongue, but the murky, gritty paint water instead.
Mortified, you’d looked over just in time to see Bob’s empathetic wince. You’d been hoping to fly under the radar, but it had turned out that you’d had more than one set of eyes on you.
“And we officially have our first casualty of the evening, folks,” the instructor cheerily announced to the group, “The rest of you can breathe easy now!”
You wanted to be able to laugh at your own expense, but you’d groaned as you buried your face in your hands.
It was not the way you saw the night going. You wanted to be dazzling, you wanted that pivotal third date with him. But now you were the girl who drank paint water whose canvas looked like it had all the same efforts as an enthusiastic fourth grader.
Bob’s hands had gently wrapped around your wrists before he’d pulled them from your face. And then he’d leaned in close, taking your chin in his hand and kissed you squarely on the lips, his tongue dipping in and sliding against yours to taste the acrylic pigment from your surprised mouth.
“Huh,” he’d said, contemplatively. He’d pulled away only far enough to look into your eyes and give you a soft smile. “Celadon blue doesn’t taste like a Cabernet, go figure.”
He brushed a light kiss against your cheek as he’d passed you your wine glass so that you could rinse the paint water taste out of your mouth.
You couldn’t help but to still be a little embarrassed, but then you’d caught the way he’d shoot an unimpressed look at the instructor every time they passed by for the rest of the evening. You didn’t need a knight in shining armor when you had a Bob Floyd with a paintbrush and a cutting side eye.
You took him home with you that night and learned for yourself just how capable those hands of his were.
It was only later that you realized the exact shade of blue that you’d been trying so hard to capture earlier that night was the same color as the eyes that gazed down at you as Bob fucked you for the very first time.
There was no way you could have known that the ‘Paint and Sip’ date would have inspired him to pick up painting as a hobby.
First, he’d started taking classes at the Rec Center. His once a week classes later turned into him checking out books from the library. And then he’d turned his spare bedroom into a studio, as it has the best afternoon light in the Spanish style house he rents near the Naval base. He’d even bought a comfy chair for you to curl up in as he painted, a little nook of your own in his favorite space in his home. And steadily, the walls of both your apartment and his place fill up with all of his creations.
You’d even had your favorite one professionally framed. The pretty landscape done in shades of soft greens that he gave to you for your birthday hangs in a place of honor above your bed. You like having that piece of Bob as one of the last things you see before you fall asleep and one of the first things you see in the morning on the rare occasion the two of you aren’t sharing a bed. You liked to imagine the hours he spent on it with the sunlight streaming through the open window as he lovingly and painstakingly created something just for you with his own two hands.
Although you did have to beg him to sign it for you. He claimed that since he does it for fun that there’s really no reason too, but you were adamant about it and he’d eventually caved and scrawled his name in the lower right-hand corner.
Now it’s become your personal mission to ensure that every Bob Floyd original has his signature on it when he gives his paintings out as gifts.
Everyone assumes that his art would be all straight lines and precise angles, but it’s your favorite moment when people get to see his abstract landscapes. He’d told you he spends so much time in the sky that he likes to paint what’s on the ground, the things he doesn’t get to see when he’s 50,000 feet in the air.
You could tell Bob was a little nervous when he first asked to paint you.
After almost a year with him, you’d think he’d know by now that you’d do anything for him. Not to mention, you were more than a little in love with the idea of being his muse.
“Are you saying you want to paint me like one of your French girls?” you’d teased with a grin, unable to resist the opportunity. You always did have a thing for men with perfectly floppy hair.
He’d tipped your chin up so that you were looking into his blue eyes- a color you were positive couldn’t be replicated- and stated, “No, I want to paint you like my girl.”
Which is how you’ve ended up naked on the floor of his living room.
You’d been surprised when you came downstairs to see that the furniture had all been pushed to the side to make space for the king-sized top sheet he’d laid out on the floor. You figured it must have been from some mismatched set he had stashed in his linen closet because you’d never seen it before and you spent more than enough time in his bed getting familiar with his sheets.
Bob was shirtless and wearing only a pair of loose-fitting and paint stained jeans that were hanging low on his hips as he worked on getting all of his brushes and paints set up.
You were pretty sure that Michelangelo himself wouldn’t be able to do proper justice to Bob’s body. He wasn’t as built as some of his friends on the Dagger Squad were, but there was an undeniable sturdy steadfastness to him. Those defined shoulders and arms often were the stars of your afternoon daydreams, since you got to admire his handsome face anytime your phone lit up.
He came and met you at the bottom of the stairs, giving you a low whistle, “Well, aren’t you as pretty as a picture in my shirt.”
“Oh,” you’d said, feigning surprise and toying with the hem, “So it is.” And then you’d slowly lifted it up and off of you, revealing more of your body to his artist’s eye.
You never felt as good about yourself as you did when you were naked in front of Bob. The color of his morning skies eyes would always darken to a deep shade of Prussian blue as he took in the curves of you. With him you always felt appreciated, wanted, desired.
His greedy hands came to grip your hips pulling you to him until you were pressed against him.
“Is this how you wanted me?” you asked, running your fingers through his hair.
Bob slipped his hand behind your neck and tugged you in for a heated kiss. “I always want you.”
You never knew true distraction until you’d felt Bob’s lips against yours all those months ago. You’d happily lose minutes, hours, days to them. The thing about Bob is that he never does anything halfway. If he’s kissing you, he’s doing it thoroughly until you’re out of breath.
The sound of the air conditioner kicking on and the light draft that it coasted over you reminded you that there were other plans on the agenda. And that the sooner he starts, then the sooner he finishes, and the sooner you can feel his lips on other parts of you.
“Where do you want me?”
“In my bed,” he murmured against your lips.
His name started as a laugh but turned into a sigh as he dropped a line of kisses down your neck, “I meant, like on the couch or on one of the chairs from the kitchen.”
Bob pulled away and peered deep into your eyes, “Darlin’, I wanted to paint you.” He trailed a teasing finger down your soft stomach. “If that’s alright with you.”
You thought you were just going to be his subject, but as it turns out he wanted you to be his canvas too.
You’re trying not to shiver as he meticulously coats your overheated skin with cool paint. Goosebumps follow in the wake of every delicate stroke he makes along your body.
His hair was curled over his forehead in a way that had your fingers aching to touch him. There was a slight furrow between his eyebrows as he concentrated on the deliberate lines and curves he painted on you. The paint smudge on his cheek only made him all the more attractive to you.
Bob had tucked a pillow beneath your head before he’d started, a gesture that you appreciated now because time had lost all meaning to you. You had no idea how long you’ve been lying there. You were pretty sure every inch of you had to be covered by now.
He’d started along the plane of your stomach and steadily worked his way out from there. Up your arms. Along your clavicle. Over your breasts and tops of your thighs. You didn’t miss the way he’d smirked when you arched into that soft to the touch paintbrush as it glided over your peaked nipple. Or the way he’d hummed pleased when you’d try to subtly rub your thighs together to relieve the need that had been building as you laid there.
Bob loves taking his time with you. In bed, he loved teasing you until you had tears in your eyes and were begging for his cock. And it became clear very quickly that this would be no different.
There was an electric thrum that was pulsing through your body with every dip and swirl and brushstroke. The muscles of your stomach jump involuntarily as the fine hairs of his paintbrush drift over your hypersensitive skin making you whimper.
He tsks, “Gotta stay still for me, pretty girl. I’m almost done, promise.”
You release a shaky sigh and nod, not trusting your voice to betray just how needy you were for him. Although the self-satisfied smile on his face told you everything you needed to know.
You try to control your breathing as he works on finishing, but your shallow breaths sounded loud in his living room. You love getting to watch him work normally, but the intense way he is looking at you- his eyes your favorite shade of Prussian blue now- is too much for your hummingbird heart.
Just as your skin was collecting layers of paint from his brush, the space between your thighs was steadily collecting your wetness. You were so desperate for him to touch you, the need made you want to crawl out of your skin.
You hear the sound of a watery swish and the clink of a brush against glass and your breath catches in your throat in anticipation.
“God, look at you,” Bob breathes, reverently, “You’re so beautiful. This might be my best work ever.”
Instead of the paintbrush, you can feel the path of his flame blue gaze traveling over you as he takes in the art he’s made out of you.
You open your heavy eyes and see Bob wiping off his hands with a frayed towel.
“There she is,” he says, giving you a smile that makes your toes curl. You didn’t notice it sitting there with all his paints until he was reaching for it, his dad’s old film camera. He holds it loosely in front of him like a question, “Can I take a few just for me?”
The answer is easy, “Yes.”
You trusted Bob more than any other man you’d ever been with. He’s never once given you reason to doubt his words because his actions always spoke for themselves.
The guys you’d been with before had been boys, Bob Floyd was a man.
The tension between the two of you is thicker than the acrylic he’d been using earlier as he snaps photo after photo. You admire the way his muscles shift as he bends and angles himself to get the perfect images.
He stands over you, the lens pointed down at you, “Look at me.”
You can barely breathe. You feel yourself getting even wetter at the thought of seeing yourself through his eyes. No one has ever made you feel the way he does.
“Bob”, you whine.
The camera clicks.
“I know,” he hums, “You’ve been so good for me.”  He sinks to his knees between your legs and hooks a hand behind your knee, pulling it up so it’s propped on the floor. And then he does the other so that you’re sprawled open for him, just the way he likes you to be, “Just one more, darlin’.”
The heat in his eyes has dried up all the words in your mouth.
He trails a finger down the soft skin of your inner thigh and you gasp.
The sound of his camera reverberates in your head.
“You’ve made such a pretty mess,” he drawls, as he gently sets the camera on the floor next to you. “It’s a good thing I put something down. You’re damn near dripping.”
“Bob, please.” You arch towards him like a flower in the sun.
He settles between your thighs and pushes them apart further so that his broad shoulders fit between them. The paint is still drying on your skin, but neither one of you cares about that now.
“You were so perfect for me. I appreciate you staying so still.” He drops a kiss to the inside of your thigh. “Don’t worry, I know just how to thank you.”
Your body jolts at the first touch of his tongue on your clit. You can feel his smile against you, he knows exactly what he does to you.
Bob has always eaten you out like it’s what he was put on this earth to do.
Normally, he’s teasing you with gentle licks and tracing nonsensical shapes on your clit with his tongue until you’re a squirming mess for him. He knows your body so well, always building you up to the point where you’re breaths away from tipping over the edge and then pulls himself back before building you right back up again.
But tonight, there’s nothing playful about the way his mouth is working against you. His hot mouth is sealed to your clit. Bob hums in satisfaction with every keen and whine that he pulls out of you. He laves at you until you’re writhing underneath him, your thighs already shaking.
“Wanna paint you just like this,” he murmurs, sucking at the spot where your leg and hip meet. “But I don’t think you’d stay still long enough for me to finish.”
Bob dips down and gives you another long broad stroke of his tongue. He pulls back only long enough to spit on your cunt before diving right back in, chasing after his own taste on you.
Your hands are in his hair. Clutching at his shoulders. It’s taken him no time at all getting you to the point where you’re trembling and taut.
All the air leaves your lungs when he buries two large fingers into you. Your hips cant into his mouth on their own and he moans. Bob wraps an arm around your hips and presses down on your lower stomach to hold you in place.
You feel the pain smear beneath his warm palm. You were dying to see it. You hoped there was a handprint- his handprint- that disrupted all the lines and swirls of color that he’d decorated you with. Something that was distinctly him.
You were wearing his art and now you’re wearing him. The evidence of this moment in time on your skin.
His fingers and tongue weren’t enough.
You needed more.
“You cock, Bob, I need your cock,” you pant, tugging at his hair.
He meanly sucks your clit into his mouth in a way that has you crying out and jerking against him. You love it, you love him.
“God, I love it when you beg for me,” he licks into you again, “Sweetest sound in the world.”
Bob drops a sweet kiss on your clit, it’s a stark difference to the filthy way he’d been using his mouth on you. He rises to sit back on his knees between your parted legs.
He looks so good kneeling above you the way that he is. His cheeks are flushed and his hair is a mess. That knot behind your bellybutton twists tighter because you did that to him.
He unzips his jeans and tugs them down low enough to pull his hard cock out.
It’s pretty enough to be featured in a gallery, you think to yourself, even in your desperate haze. It’s long, thick, perfect and yours.
Bob smirks when he notices you admiring him, pumping himself slowly a few times for your viewing pleasure.
The only time Bob Floyd was ever a show-off was when he was in bed.
He grabs your thighs and pulls them over top of his own, so that yours are draped over his obscenely, and then he thrusts easily into you.
You gasp at the sensation of being so full of him. It always takes you a minute to adjust to his cock, no matter how many times you’ve taken it now. His thumbs make little circles along your hipbones as your body relents and yields to the size of him.
“There you go,” he says, rocking into you, working you open, “Just needed this cock, didn’t you?”
You whimper your agreement. Your hips tilt into the pressure like you’re trying to get as much of him as you can. Wanting to show him how much you can take. You know you’ll never get enough of him.
He fucks into you at a reckless and unrelenting pace. You’re high off the feeling of seeing Bob like this, that you’re the one who gets to see him unreserved and uninhibited. He has your hips gripped so tightly, keeping you closer than close. And when you clench around him, you’re treated to a wrecked groan.
Your skin prickles with desire and the feeling of paint drying on you. His cock is hitting just the right spot inside of you and you know you won’t be able to hold off for much longer, not with the way he’s grinding against your aching clit.
Bob’s eyes glued to the spot where you two come together. You’re on full display for him. He watches the way you stretch and spread around him with every deep thrust with the same appreciative gaze that he admires his favorite artists.
It’s under his river blue gaze that your orgasm swiftly sweeps you away. And with your back arching and thighs quaking around his, you give yourself up to the endless current of it.
You know he’s close when his hips start to stutter.
Bob pulls out of you and wraps his large hand around his slick-shined cock and works himself with rough, purposeful strokes.
This time he paints you with himself, his come covering your stomach.
The only sound in the room is the two of you breathing hard, trying to catch your breath.
“Jesus Christ,” Bob huffs, raggedly, taking in his handiwork, “You’re my masterpiece.”
You’re covered in paint and come, but you’ve never felt more beautiful than you do right now as he looks down at you in awe.
“Did you remember to sign your work this time?” you ask, out of breath but teasingly.
“I think I left my mark, darlin’,” he says, with well-earned smugness in his voice. You can’t help but giggle. He flops down next to you, throwing his arm over his eyes, “Goddamn.”
You prop yourself up onto your elbows to look at yourself.
“Baby, I think you gave Jackson Pollock a run for his money.” You grin widely when he lets out an amused snort. “Wait, where’s your camera?”
He passes it to you, the fondness in his eyes makes your chest feel warm. You scooch in close to him and hold it up above your heads, the camera flashes when you kiss his flushed cheek.
That picture is the first one that gets put up in the new house, the one the two of you chose together when he asked you to marry him six months later. Followed by the soft green landscape that now hangs above your shared bed.
It’s your favorite picture of the two of you, happy and in love. You can just see a hint of the cloud he’d painted on your shoulder.
That night Bob had decorated your body with the place he loved best.
He gave you the sky and he made you his world.
