It's freezing??? The heating turned on like 20 minutes ago and I've got two blankets on, why is it still freezing???

i'm not an amputee so absolutely tell me to stay in my lane if applicable, but it seems to me that there's something really unique about the way that black sails handles silver's disability and the narrative role of his prosthetic. as in, it's one of the only shows i've seen (although i'm sure there are more out there) where 1) a character's mobility is more impaired when using a prosthetic, and 2) where using a prosthetic is explicitly portrayed as an effort to appear more able-bodied to others in a way that's harmful to the amputee character: silver insists on wearing the leg in front of the men to the point of giving himself an infection and limiting his mobility in a fight because he's worried about maintaining his authority. while he doesn't choose to stop wearing it, i think it's telling that he also doesn't try to have a replacement made after he loses it or otherwise seem bothered by being seen using his crutch after he establishes the myth of long john silver by crushing dufresne's skull with his metal leg for mocking him as "half a man," symbolically tying the myth to his disability

i think its weird that i have to make this disclaimer but the internet is crazy so wtvr,, anyway,,

i swear literally every time i even mention that i dislike something, people will go "wow does that mean u fucking hate me cuz i post that thing? ur a fucking stupid bitch and all ur opinions r wrong" LIKE ?? er.. no. just because i say i dont like certain characterizations of certain characters (the saiki k fandom is CRAZY about this cuz i can state an opinion on literally any character and a group of people will still go 'well only we're allowed to post our opinions about them because we're always right!1!1!'), or certain ship tropes (mentioned my hatred of toxic yaoi maybe once or twice on here months ago and people STILL get mad at me as if i said toxic yaoi lovers r evil or something), or certain ships, or WHATEVER, does not mean that i HATE the people who are posting them or that i think they shouldnt post them at all, NO, im just posting about my personal tastes on my personal blog and it would be extremely weird and hypocritical if i decided that i was the ONLY person that was allowed to do that,,

I've got an interview for an internship for next year aaa

I'm excited because the guy who's interviewing me does the same kinds of pokeology as I do (Pokémon ecology), but I'm also nervous because aaa! This is a big opportunity and I don't want to mess it up!!

I've been hardly sleeping and honestly I've given up on it by now. It's about 6am and the interview is in Hammerlocke at like 10am, so an hour away by train (granted the wooloo don't get on the tracks)

But my younger brother is coming with me, so we can spend the day shopping afterwards so calm me down after the interview.

Unsure how to bring up naturally the 'tism, but I'm sure it'll come up at some point!

having a pretty large backlog of content that many people are unwilling to consume before getting into the fandom so they make art/fic/posts from a “solely read fanfiction and not consumed the media itself” space and it results in beliefs about the world/characters/lore that are extremely divorced from the series itself overtaking the fan space.

anyway, I will probably think about the Randy and Benson working at a movie theater instead of a fast food place AU for some time. that dream where they were my coworkers really set something off lol

rotating Randy interacting with customers in my mind 🙏 he'd be so awkward and quiet, would have to repeat himself a bunch, especially when it's busy and loud. but probably in a very endearing way <3 and miraculously he's never had to deal with excessively rude customers.

and Benson. oh Benson. he'd be quite charming and competent as hell with customers on a good day, especially during busy times. but deflate and go back to his silent serious ways as soon as the rush is over. so many smoke breaks for coping as well.

thinking about how Benson probably showed Randy the ropes when he first started. so much one on one time. Randy being scared to ask for clarifications at first but slowly warming up to Benson. Benson always keeping an eye on his boy, even now that they've worked here for a while and Randy has mostly found his footing.

also thinking about everyone calling on Benson whenever there's a rude customer who needs some Reprimanding and Getting Escorted From The Building.

and Benson being one of the only workers who keeps things running, who the manager trusts mostly. so of course if he wants to dip out early, he burdens Benson with tasks like counting the cash at the end of the night and other closing up duties that'd usually be managerial tasks only.

Benson gets revenge by fudging some numbers and pocketing small amounts of loose change on the side. he sure as hell will pay himself for the extra work he's doing if no one else is gonna do it 👍 and the manager's too lazy to check, which Benson knows
