i'm always nervous to watch any horror movie because i can get pretty squicked out by live action gore but recently i'm finding that a lot of horror really isn't too bad once i watch it

After saying I would do so... However long ago, I have finally listened to Discipline by King Crimson. I admit that King Crimson tends to be hit or miss for me; I find a lot of their songs are either drop-dead stunning or have the same effect as ambience music.

However I definitely feel like Discipline is pretty different from the past albums I've listened to. The songs are a lot more "active" on average and kept me paying attention a lot more than previous albums that tended to make me drift off a bit.

Overall I really enjoyed it and it's probably second place behind In the Court of the Crimson King for my favorite KC album. My favorite song was Matte Kudasai, which I will probably be revisiting the most.

i should become a jojo youtuber known for his shitty halfasses jojo analysis that the dudebros fucking eat up and take as the word of god until one day after i get like 100k subscribers (which is what i think some of them have?) i suddenly drop my gay avdol essay and since jojo dudebros see jojo youtube men as Never Wrong and are completely unquestioning of whatever they say (ie: the pucci is white shit) people will finally see all the very heavy subtext that they've all been ignoring (or at least they'll pretend to see it) & then ppl will end up going far enough with me saying "he has heavy gay subtext" to "avdol's canonically gay" and it'll get put in his wiki and he'll forever be regarded as a canon gay anime character. i am a genuis.

I get my media recommendations the old fashioned way: by watching someone I follow on here go on an unhinged reblog spree of media related content until I eventually decide to go "alright, what's all this then"

i am kind of curious

whenever i watch invader zim i can't help but feel like the last few episodes (like, season 2) that aren't related to the inklings of the developing plot falls off a bit. some of the plots get a little less interesting but i think my main problem is that it just gets way too hyper.

the most obvious example is the way i start getting annoyed by the characters' voice acting as much as they're praised as one of the show's highlights. like, ZIM gets way too obnoxiously theatrical every line (the christmas episode was the worst with this. who told horvitz to inflect in some of the ways he did there...) I liked the early episodes having moments where his voice would get deeper or even slightly ominous but i think they started exaggerating his screaming and voice warbling even more for the goofy factor. And then the later episodes also have moments where Dib just starts squealing and making random high-pitched noises... shit hurts my ears, man...

i think it also starts going off of the GIR-style random humor a little too much for my taste. reading the unfinished episode scripts, though they are just scripts of course, i didn't find most of them to be very funny (some of them were straight up bad lol... simon says doom and return of keef were painful to read through. i also have issues with characterization in stuff like mopiness of doom but that's another thing.)

i seriously want to like reply to every single one of your jojo meta/analysis posts but im such a lurker this feels like weird behavior for me. like i wanna pick your brain. sorry if that is weird coming from a total rando

Though Diavolo is obviously my main guy, I got fixated on Jojo before I ever saw Vento Aureo. It's a very very interesting series to see evolve throughout the decades while keeping some consistent main themes- for better or worse, there is a lot you can pick apart about it. It's so interesting a lot of people reduce it to just a "funny meme fighting show" because deeper topics are always present beyond (and intertwined with) the fighting and goofy outfits.

It (particularly Diavolo) is the thing that felt like it was bursting out of my head enough to motivate me into making a blog in the first place, so I kind of owe it in that way. I also think actually writing my thoughts out for the first time improved my media analysis and comprehension abilities a lot, even if it's just analyzing/complaining about a popular Shonen series on Tumblr. It has changed a lot about the way I look at media, I think.
