You wanna send snail mail, but you don't feel like you have the time and energy for a whole long term pen pal relationship.
May I suggest postcard exchanges! Here's a couple.
Postcrossing - you get assigned a random address, send a postcard. Then once it's received, someone else gets your address.
Postcard United - Same as Postcrossing, just a different site
PostFun - same as the above, but it's an app on your phone
Now, if you wanna have a little more long term relationship with someone via snail mail, but you don't feel like you have the energy to write big long letters, or spend time on mail art (y'all who do mail art, it's gorgeous, I'm exhausted just watching y'all), what you're looking for is a Postcard Pal. It's a penpal you agree to send postcards to! You are constrained by the writing section of the card! Much more condensed! Where would you find such a person? Here's a couple of places.
The Letter Exchange - the print zine mailed quarterly has a category for postcards. Bonus - it's a letter forwarding service so you decide when you give your postcard pal your address.
Postcrossing Forums - you will need to sign up to get access, there is a Penpal forum.
r/penpals and r/penpalsover30 - Does what it says on the tin, but you do have to sort through people who want emailpals as well.

Sherlock Christmas Card Exchange - 2023 Edition
Dear all,
as usual the best time of the year is just around the corner. Hectic, stressfull and tiring. ;) To brighten up our everyday lives it's time for the annual christmas card exchange and I hope a lot of you will participate again this year. Thank you for the past three years! <3

This is the “official” copy-cat post of this year’s exchange. It’s heavily inspired by the original blog and doesn’t intend to take over or imitate it in any disrespectful way. Rather, it’s a homage to the wonderful exchanges of the past years.
WHAT
Originally it started as a Christmas card exchange in the Sherlock fandom some years ago. Lovely people sent seasonal greetings to other lovely people all over the world cheering up their often stressful and exhausting pre-Christmas period. As time has gone by, I know the Sherlock fandom has been put into a sort of coma and people found other fandoms. That’s why this isn’t an exclusive Sherlock event, but an overall-lovely-people-providing-Christmas-spirit-and-we’re-just-keeping-the-name-for-tradtional-reasons-exchange. You want to send and receive Christmas post? You’re in!
WHEN
Register until Monday, 4th December 2023.
Exchange begins at Wednesday, 6th December 2023.
HOW
Send me your name, postal address and any internet handle you want to add (tumblr, twitter, Instagram, etc.) to sherlock-xmas-exchange at outlook.com.
After I’ve received all your information I’ll create a PDF file and send it to all participants. Then you can immediately start writing, producing, creating Christmas mail to your heart’s content.
RULES
1. All information on the list you’ll receive is confidential and not to be sent or shown to anyone else.
2. Send at least one card to the person below you on the list.
3. Be friendly, cheery and nice to each other. :)

Hi, Miss Minci! It's been some time since I've arrived in Sumeru. The city is just as extravagant as you described it - it's almost scary. The Akademiya is also really big, and almost nobody who works or studies there is helpful to outsiders. Luckily, I met someone who was willing to take me in and help me with my studies on the animals living in the jungle, how cool is that?!
Anyways, sorry about my rambling! How are things back in Mondstadt? Make sure to tell everyone that I said hi!

You remember my underclassman Cyno ? The one with that looks similar to Razor? Well, he brought Tighnari and little Collei to the festival this year.
Enough about me though. You've been studying at the Akademiya ? The choice of study you're doing sounds very interesting. Tell me all about next time you're over ok?

#its inevitable and something you have to expect when internet friends disappear/move on/drift apart/whatever the situation is#+often its something that doesn't need to be forever its someone to exchange images+problems+mail with when you need that sort of thing most#and inevitably it stops which is fine.but the problem is afterwards when you take an image that you know you would have sent to them or you#are standing in a museum looking at a postcard you know you would have sent them + its like oh! a momentary case of mild sadness is upon me!#but such is life
