SHERLOCK CHRISTMAS CARD EXCHANGE - 2022 EDITION
Late as usual, but maybe some people will be interested? :)

This is the “official” copy-cat post of this year’s exchange. It’s heavily inspired by the original blog and doesn’t intend to take over or imitate it in any disrespectful way. Rather, it’s a homage to the wonderful exchanges of the past years.
WHAT
Originally it started as a Christmas card exchange in the Sherlock fandom some years ago. Lovely people sent seasonal greetings to other lovely people all over the world cheering up their often stressful and exhausting pre-Christmas period. As time has gone by, I know the Sherlock fandom has been put into a sort of coma and people found other fandoms. That’s why this isn’t an exclusive Sherlock event, but an overall-lovely-people-providing-Christmas-spirit-and-we’re-just-keeping-the-name-for-tradtional-reasons-exchange. You want to send and receive Christmas post? You’re in!
WHEN
Register until Monday, 5th December 2022.
Exchange begins at Wednesday, 7th December 2022.

Send me your name, postal address and any internet handle you want to add (tumblr, twitter, Instagram, etc.) to sherlock-xmas-exchange at outlook.com.
After I’ve received all your information I’ll create a PDF file and send it to all participants. Then you can immediately start writing, producing, creating Christmas mail to your heart’s content.

When I was in art school I used to make lots of these "doodle" (aka scratchy/messy without a plan) animations in my spare time and I somehow just sat down and started one last week!
It was super fun, just started drawing Masa with his hair untied and trying to figure out what he was looking at! I happened to have a very-post-canon-hc about Matsu and Yaichi bonding while Masa is away on a trip, and Masa being thrilled to find out when he comes back :3

Next, Yaichi is shown. He has a cup of hot tea in his hand but seems distracted by something in front of him. He seems to stare at Matsu, smiling, then glances to his left and meets Masa's gaze. Yaichi's eyes go a little unfocused and he smiles dreamily before he takes a sip of his tea.

The winning option of yesterday's poll was that the adventurer should go on a 5 day journey to find the Innkeeper's weird brother who studies animals, and show him the Suspicious Egg….

The next morning he wakes early, buzzing with renewed purpose, and also minor back pain from sleeping on old potato sacks.. After a meager breakfast of more free leftover scraps, the Innkeeper stops him before he leaves, giving him a few extra supplies for the long journey, as she can tell he doesn't have much. He packs up and sets out onto the road once again, crumpled sketchy map in hand...
He has a fairly uneventful journey for the first day - waving at the occasional other travelers as they pass, cleaning his boots in a nearby pond, stopping to eat some dumplings whilst watching the sunset, and finally setting up a small tent a short ways off the main path, resting with his cat by a dim campfire until they both fall asleep......
The second day, however, does not start as smoothly.. Only a few hours further down the road, he's met with a large barricade, guarded by a group of what seems like elven soldiers from one of the larger surrounding cities of the area. Practicing his confidence, he puts on his best "brave face" (which to others, appears more as some sort of pained wince, like he might have something in his eye), shakily striding right up to the authority figures he is definitely not afraid of.
"Halt, traveler! You cannot pass."
He sways slightly, struggling to keep his wobbly legs under control, "OH, y-yEAH, ssorry, I was-, hh, I was just walking, ~o-out for a stroooll~, haha, so I .. uh.. o-okay. That's.. okay. But, uh.. could, can.. euh.. C-can I ask why? like... why the, uh... blocking off.. of ... the um.. the-"
"Unfortunately, we are not at liberty to disclose any information on the nature of this current road closure. Our sole duty is to maintain security of the barrier."
"hhHeh, ye.. eAh, for sure, I-I get that.. Duty is.. really so... important in ... today's world.. gotta, um.. do the duties.. or, uh.. .. yeah, but.. so, uhhh... wh-Do you know.. maybe, uh... H-how long you'll, like... be here? guarding... and such...??"
"We'll be here as long as we need to be here."
"...O-okay.. but, like.. uh... any,,.... time estimate? hahahehhh?? like, uh.. a day, or... two, or um...??"
"This matter does not concern you, traveler. Move along."
"Aoh, yeahgh, I.. totally.. totally.. it, uh.. Well.. but it kind of does though,, right? B-because I do, in fact, actually have to go down that road at some p-point sssoo, um,... uh.. I-"
"I said move along."
The guard abruptly takes a step forward, causing The Adventurer to yelp as if he'd been hit, tripping over his own feet and scrambling off on hands and knees, lunging into bushes near the rocky roadside.. After exchanging a confused glance, the guards both shrug, resuming their stoic positions at the barrier.
The Adventurer watches from the uncomfortable safety of some berry brambles, surveying the area at a distance and desperately trying to work out how he can still get where he's trying to go. The map given to him by the Innkeeper is pretty straightforward, not showing alternate paths. Based on his primary map, he could maybe think of a few detours, but he's anxiously unfamiliar with the area... How should he proceed?

I just had a lot going on the past few days#the story tidbit of this one is slightly longer again because you need spaces to break up dialogue and etc. but much shorter#than the other one still and pretty concise. I tried to leave out a lot of detail and just give the bare minimum again lol#Hopefully his speaking style isn't too grating also ghbjhb.. I'm more familiar with writing dialogue for like.. people to say out loud so#to me I'm always trying to hear it in my head and write eveything exactly how it would be spoken. and to me it sounds fine#if you act it in the exact voice I'm envisioning and have a distinct speaking style where you pause or drag#out words in a specific way - like with particualr cadence and comedic timing - it sounds fine#I'm just not sure if that translates to text as well lol#But he doesn't actually talk often. the past two times have been exceptions since he keeps running into people#And he'll have to talk if he ever actally makes it to the Innkeeper's brother. But most obstacles on the road#are probably prettyy easily dialogue free#ANYWAY...#Love his dramatics.. Imagine if you just take one step towards someone and they scream and throw themselves#onto the ground and run away gjhhjbj#the cat just leisurely trotting over to catch up with him because they're not actually scared#anyway.. ! day 7.. that's like a whole week! except it's been over a week since sometimes it takes me like 2 days lol

so. I watched Better Call Saul.

i'm an office manager which means that i'm responsible for all the paperwork (all invoices go through me), calls and emails. and i act like an assistant to basically everyone in our office. including shit like booking flights and hotels and taking care of everyone's cars and insurances etc. buying office supplies, taking care of how our office looks, making tea & coffee for guests, booking rooms, making sure our management signs the papers on time etc. etc. etc.
doesn't sound that bad but the 'acting like an assistant' is tricky. because i get like 20 daily requests from people to take care of something asap. like, paying a fine, calling some place to ask about something, scheduling a meeting, making changes in booking, registering a car etc.
now it's extra stressful bc i'm organizing a christmas party for 120+ people and it's not easy when you need to book hotels for 30 people, book a restaurant, decide on a menu, confirm attendance etc. and your guests are dickheads who don't care if you have to change their reservation 4 times in 3 days.
#and there is no one who can replace me when it's needed. like when i took a week off it took me another 2 weeks to catch up with work#because some things are easy but it would take weeks of training to thoroughly prepare someone to do my job#and no one has time for this because they have their own jobs and duties#but despite this my coworkers help me as much as they can :') and they really support me#there's only one department full of shitheads and 90% of my problems originate there lmao most of the company hates them#tbh most of my problems would be solved if they just hired another person and split the work between us but#it's always been one person so 🤡#and sometimes it gets really calm and i don't have anything to do for a few hours. it's been months since something like that happened but#it happened a few times in the past lol#answered#i really can't quit this job because it pays well (i mean for a person with no degree). and out of obligation.#i need to finish my degree because now there's no way i would find something that could pay my rent 😭#but i promised myself i won't stay here for longer than 2 years unless they offer me a different position#but until then you have to listen to my complaining every day agkdgjdfj sorry

Had a bad day at work yesterday
#honestly first half was so good#I was in a really good mood we were all chatting#it was a manageable busy I was happy#and I was training a new person#theres this team lead and when regular chatting she’s really nice but when it comes to anything work related she’s horrible#one of my favorite coworkers quit because of her#idk she’s like extra ‘bossy’ like we Have to constantly be doing something. not waste a second.#she acts like she knows better than me SHE EXPLAINS TO ME HOW TO DO SHIT LIKE I DONT KNOW HOW TO DO MY JOB AS IF I HAVENT BEEN HERE#TEN TIMES LONGER THAN HER#the day took a turn for the worse when she said ‘we’re gonna need ice.’ I was waiting at a register with new girl cause customers were#literally walking in and approaching and she raised her voice at us basically yelling at us to go get ice. like what#that triggered me and blahblahblah a few tiny annoyances later I’m in the back having a panic attack. and the manager catches me at first#told me off for not being in the front to help with the line but when she noticed I was crying she let me have a minute to calm down#then closing I had to do dishes. I’m always slow at them I warned everyone. but I was in a really bad mood at that point#I rushed them. I did a meh job I skipped steps I cut my finger I wasn’t being slow I was soaking wet I did them as fast as I possibly could#cause I was so done. we have two freezers in the back I have all the wet dishes on one and I’m dying them on the other. team lead comes to#the back says I’m the last one cleaning. we need to get overran from that freezer for the front. I ask if they can get it when I’m done#(literally like four things left to dry) she says no she has to clock out at midnight and basically started going off on me and my coworker#about how basically were doing a bad job cause we’re supposed to be Done by 11:30??? so we’re late and now it’s affecting her and it’s our#fault??#WE ARE NOT SUPPOSED TO BE DONE BY 11:30 NONE OF THE MANAGERS EXPECT US TO BE DONE BY THEN YES WE ARE SCHEDULED TO THEN BUT ITS BASICALLY#IMPOSSIBLE TO BE DONE BY THEN IVE BEEN HERE NEARLY A YEAR AND IVE GOTTEN OUT BEFORE MIDNIGHT MAYBE TWICE.#I DID THOSE DISHES AS FAST AS I POSSIBLY COULD#she is a grown ass adult talking to teens like this. we all also had school that day we were tired#and honestly we were so fucking fast that night. nearly done and not even midnight? damn. she clocked out and left before we finished#I tried to give her the benefit of the doubt cause she was nice when having a normal chat but no she’s a jackass#made me cry twice yesterday#I’m so close to messaging the old coworker who quit because of her about this cause she’s also older. she was like the mom of the theater#she loves us and if she heart team lead was making me cry she would come in and tell her tf off#I’m not good at confrontation. I just grabbed the shit and put it out front and paced around a lot. felt like shit.

côme x felix: 3-9, for the ship ask game please!

3. What was their first impression of each other?
Côme saw Felix enter his office and thought "Wow! I love his outfit!", to then go through the "He's really pretty" kind of thoughts. Felix did the whole hand kiss thing next and Côme instantly knew they would get along well. Also, they're a bit oblivious when it comes to flirtation, so it took them quite a while to realize Felix was flirting with them.
Felix saw Côme and the first thing that popped into his mind was "Omg! They're so small!" (Côme is 5'1"). Then Côme started being his sassy self and Felix quickly realized they were a little chaotic gremlin. His next thought was "omg, they're a little dumb" when he understood that Côme had no idea he was flirting with them.
4. Who initiates affection? Why does the other not initiate affection as much?
Both of them initiate affection and I don't think one does it more than the other. They're both very clingy and physical when it comes to expressing how they feel so they do it a lot, whether it's consciously or absent-mindedly. They'll hold hands when walking together, have a hand on the other's thigh when they're sitting together
But they're also really affectionate with their words. They never miss an occasion to compliment the other or offer encouragements. And pet names. They never run out of pet names.
5. Do they argue often? If so, what do they argue about?
They don't really argue often, they get in heated debates about random silly subjects, but it's almost never anything really serious.
But if they do really argue, it's often due to the fact that Côme shuts down when something happens. They'll stop communicating and Felix can sense that there's something wrong but Côme won't say anything. Until it all explodes.
6. How do they makeup/apologize after an argument?
None of them deals properly with being mad at each other, so making up is fairly easy for both of them.
Côme will offer gifts, sometimes handmade, like a little crochet plushie, or sometimes it's something they found that made them think of Felix. And with the gifts come the apology.
Felix, I envision, does it through touch. He sits next to Côme, testing the waters, trying to see if Côme is okay with his presence, then he dares a bit more and gets closer until he engulfs Côme in a hug.
7. How often do they say "I love you"?
They say both say it pretty often, but it's almost always at very random moments. It's like one of them does something stupid and the other has no other reaction than "I love you" coming out of their mouth. They just both know how they feel about the other and how the other feels about them, and they don't think there's any use to not say it out loud.
8. What do they love most about the other? Why?
For Côme, it's Felix "brightness". It's the way he makes a room light up when he enters it, or the way he instantly lifts everyone's mood. Felix is a ray of sunshine who makes them feel warm and at ease, and Côme can't help but fall for them a little bit more any time he smiles.
For Felix, it's the fact that Côme is really easy to read. Everything they feel, or think shows on their face. But Felix finds it particularly endearing because Côme persists in being all mysterious and hard to read, when they're the exact opposite.
9. What do they dislike most about the other? Why?
For Côme, it's Felix's messy side. They're not a neat freak, but they've spent years in labs where you've got to keep everything sterile and neat and everything has to be in its place. And they're having a hard time shaking off that habit. So, they definitely scrunched their nose a little at Felix's 'organized mess' the first few times. But they'll get used to it.
For Felix, it's Côme recklessness, especially when it comes to their body. Côme has been skateboarding since they were a teen, so they're used to getting hurt and taking bad falls. They broke a few bones over the years, so they don't really freak out anymore when they fall and bleed, unless the bleeding doesn't really stop. But Felix always freaks out when they come home and they're all bloodied because they took a bad fall, or when they laugh it out when getting hurt during missions, and he doesn't really understand why Côme isn't more concerned.

I love that my old mice posts sometimes get notes randomly
#sometimes i miss my girls#the hyperfixation ended though and the last group i got were so awful i just dont want to try again#for a long time#i still have my asf and male mouse though just not my girls#they all were so sickly and only one made it over a year#she didnt make it much longer#the hamster i took from the same person who gave them to me also was very sick and died after a few days#she kept them in really awful cages :c#bee and lady seem to be doing alright though other than being elderly

I finished the second draft of chapter 1!! The story is finally getting to the point where I can look at what I’ve written and not cringe!!
Might proof read it tomorrow when I’m less damn tired and post some of my fav lines from the chapter?? Idk very nerve wracking but we will see
#it took me 3 days to edit#which I feel like is good but also I used to be able to edit a chapter in an evening#granted#stuff I used to write was much shorter#anyway the plan is to do a second draft of chap 2 & 3 by like Jan 15#and then I’ll do first drafts of the next three chaps#and then I’ll let myself edit again cos I already know I won’t be able to wait longer than that#also not to rant in the tags for FOREVER#but when I say I’m doing ‘first drafts of chapters’#I’ve actually written this story a few times over#but I’ve just opted to trash it each time because it was ugly#don’t worry tho (if anyone sees this) not trashing it this time 😼#wbix story#wbix writing

me gearing up to hate my Fucking life as i work to finish this damned texting bitch of a program due tomorrow, logging into the school website to get the lab info page... only to see the due date's been pushed back a week. probably bc many people, like me, are really... not close to done with it lol
i wouldve known this if id gone to class today probs lol, but i was too busy being gay. so uh. yay? this is a genuine relief lol i was feeling Particularly destructive about it all.
#speculation nation#ive been increasingly irritated today bc of the knowledge that this was waiting for me at home#i knew i wasnt going to finish it in a way that was favorable to me. i was going to need to sacrifice sleep.#but it seems like i wont have to. thank fucking god.#anyways yea my girlfriend was visiting for the past few days (aka why ive been largely absent from here) but she's left again#i only had a few more hours with her so i decided to skip class and be gay instead of going. Lol#and then i had to go to work to do some stuff but i procrastinated leaving bc i was watching critical role#and then the stuff took longer than expected bc i had to make creme brulee bc we were completely out but got more powder for it#did inventory. prepped my notes for the meeting (that is starting. soon.)#then came home. prepared myself for Shit Night. got started looking into shit#and then found this thing. so like lmfao like Hell im going to work on this bitch tonight. fuck that.#uhmmm sorry professor for not going to class for two consecutive class periods i was busy prepping for being gay and then being gay#Finger Guns. lmao#anyways yeah life resumes as normal. im not really getting a day off this week.#WELL depending on things maybe i could get away with not coming in on thursday#i was only scheduled an hour today but it turned into 3.5hr. im not scheduled tomorrow but it's payroll week so i'll go in to do tips#then thursday im scheduled 2 hours for recipe restocking but if no recipes need restocked then like. no need & all#the other days r proper shifts. Though if they dont give us our tapioca by the weekend i'll end up not having a sunday shift#bc BOBA MAKING IS BACKKKKKKKKK (crying tears of joy and pain)#but we're getting a new machine for it so it'll hopefully be Much easier than it used to be. which is good! i fucking hated my Life with it#anyways i know i need to sleep after the manager meeting bc lol. lmao even. staying awake any longer in this kind of mood isnt gonna help
