I am humbly requesting your thoughts on Linebeck
Oh I have a LOT of thoughts on Linebeck but I'll try to just get some major points down bc it would take me ages to spill all of my thoughts on him.
(plus i do have two general headcanon posts [ 1 2 ] a post abt headcanons about him being autistic [ x ] and a weird post about his coat [ x ] as well as pretty much anything in my linebeck tag with my excessive tagging of some reblogs and my original posts + whatever writing or fanfiction i have done/will do with him included so. bonus reading for headcanon-y stuff or a look at how i portray him)
added a read more bc this is long bc of course it is :) i hope it's in the right spot :)))
Linebeck is... a good fucking character. He's probably my favorite character period, and has been pretty much soon after I got Phantom Hourglass. He feels unique compared to other Zelda characters as a companion character who offers less direct support and is more just of a constant character who changes throughout the course of the story and is... well, a companion, not really a helper. He falls more in line with the types of loz characters who are more rude or antagonistic towards Link, but develops out of that, and also technically counts not only as a boss but a final boss, putting him as the only non-villain character to be a final boss, so uh good for him.
Just within the context of the games he's got a great design and a great theme (which is only heard about two times before the final boss but has a recognizable enough motif for it to be noticed in the final boss theme) and an interesting role in his game and just has one of the best character arcs and one of the most interesting places within the story as a whole. Linebeck's arc is very... natural in how you see his attitude change within both story beats and in his overworld dialogue, but at the same time seems like it stutters when he deals with Ciela's criticism and upholding his own reputation, I think his character arc is very fascinating if you consider the entire context of his character and what he interacts with, since a majority of the characters he directly interacts with seem to deny the idea that he's any more than a useless coward.
The fact that pretty much the rest of the major cast in Phantom Hourglass has basically no faith or respect for Linebeck is so fucking fascinating to me. This guy has to be doing so fucking bad over the course of the game. In relation to Ciela specifically, an idea I've been thinking of and trying to work into some of my Phantom Hourglass oneshots is that having to be around and interact with her so frequently wears Linebeck down pretty badly as the game goes on.
This guy is undeniably mentally ill and that's also something I have a specific fic planned out for but that's probably not going to see the light of day for a while. It's basically five chapters of Oshus being Linebeck's therapist or something each time Link goes to the Temple of the Ocean King.
I particularly enjoy how the game (at least twice) plays with your expecting him to be at the ship all of the time by having him be in a different spot on an island. His dialogue for islands and his overseas dialogue are fun, it gives off a sense that he much prefers exploring and is a bit less guarded overseas. His dialogue during the ghost ship fight is ESPECIALLY fantastic, the specific line of 'I'm fighting right there with you this time, kid!' not only offers some very interesting insight to his attitude towards link and his own role, but kind of also stings when considering the events of the final boss and is also a quote I took a screenshot of while reading the text dump for this game.
Phantom Hourglass is by no means an exceptional game and while the story is fine it's nothing fantastic and even most of the characters are... ok, but Linebeck is without a doubt the best part of this game and I really feel like he's the main reason why people still give this game a chance and despite everything he's easily one of the best characters in the entire series even if his game isn't one of the better ones. He honest to god steals every scene he's in, even if he barely has any dialogue- he's animated with such distinct personality and I love it. He doesn't speak at all until the end of the spirit of courage scene and yet is so fucking distracting with his fruity fucking posing and movements in reaction to what's going on.
I'm also personally a fan of the near-complete lack of backstory we get for him. The most we get is some vague implications but everyone can read the given information in different ways so it's really not much. Phantom Hourglass's general lack of lore is great for me since I can just fill in the blanks however I want. I kinda honestly don't want Nintendo to revisit this game because I don't really want them to add anything new. Just port it or something don't change it.
That's about it for surface-level specific-to-the-games Linebeck talk... on to everything else.
Linebeck is literally the reason why I found out I was autistic. I wrote this loser and realized I was accidentally making him kinda autistic and THEN realized I was also projecting and then decided to look into that. He's fun to write and he always ends up a little out of character and at this point I barely give a damn because this bastard is masking or keeping up a facade or whatever the fuck in most of his scenes anyways. Linebeck's arc feels to me more about him being most honest and open to and about his own emotions and actual personality so honestly writing him a bit out of character doesn't bother me too much.
He's my favorite little guy, and when I plan out Zelda aus he always gets a major role to the point where a lot of the twists to my aus all end up being similar. For a few of them I've had to forcibly alter his role so that I can't include him constantly. He's very interesting for different kinds of aus because he's an interesting character for different concepts and situations. His relationships with characters in Phantom Hourglass lend well to au stuff; specifically with Link, in one au they're adoptive brothers, in one they're something akin to rivals, in one their mutual fixation on each other propels the plot. I've even expanded on interactions and possible dynamics with Bellum in aus (Bellum is honestly fun since he's kind of a blank slate in canon but there's just enough there to build off of but keep it relatively the same original character).
I have a few ocs that used to be au versions of Linebeck that ended up becoming their own thing because the aus in question worked better as original stories.
With Phantom Hourglass-centric ideas, it's a lot of fun to poke around and explore stuff with Linebeck's past, his mental state, the kinds of things he enjoys or hates, pretty much anything the game doesn't elaborate on. With all of that blank space and the fact that I've known about him for a few years now, I've gotten down a whole backstory and deeper details on Linebeck, most of which I'm probably going to end up expressing through writing.
Just a few of the baseline ones are just along the lines of him being gay, autistic, touch-averse, intersex, a cat person, someone who highly values his freedom, half Gerudo, interested in music- some of it can be supported with canon (he really comes off to me like a closeted gay man, and he does have some generally autistic vibes) and some of it is really just for the hell of it (in particular the idea that he’s of Gerudo descent has no backing but is so interesting for story stuff and is generally fun) (I also enjoy ignoring parts of canon. I have not played Spirit Tracks and I do not want to play it so if I don't look at it I can ignore it).
I have a lot of fun fleshing him out in different aus or in scenarios before or after Phantom Hourglass, since there's just enough there to allow for further reasonable exploration, and his being just some normal guy actually helps with that since it forces you to keep things relatively normal and comparable to kinds of things you can experience in your day-to-day. I've more or less figured out a (mostly) full backstory for him, I've decided on a full physical description of how he looks so that I have a baseline if I want to change stuff in an au or just so that I know how I figure he looks as well as have an idea of how some physical traits can lend themselves to other aspects of how I write and portray him (for example, I figure he has long fingers, which goes right with the idea that he enjoys music and is pretty good on a piano, and also that he's good with tasks that might require a bit more finger dexterity as well as generally helping a bit with pick-pocketing or thievery)
I figure that, along with the general idea I have of him valuing his freedom, he's not particularly interested in following rules or laws and hates seeing too many of them put in place, and especially values his own identity even if he doesn't express it as much as he'd like. He likes being able to go wherever he'd like and he likes being able to do what he wants and express himself how he wants and that stuff gets bogged down when he plays into that image of someone he's not that he hides behind and doubles down on in a good bit of Phantom Hourglass.
Linebeck is fun in general he's a good character he's fun for aus he's got enough groundwork to spend ages pouring into possible avenues for his personality and background and whatever potential he could have in different aus or roles. He's surprisingly fun and interesting to use as an antagonist since you can't fall back on easy villain-writing ideas and have to get a bit more creative with it.
I think I struggle to write him in-character but it's backed up a bit by my specific interpretation of him suggesting that a lot of what you see from him is forced or fake. I still think he's a greedy piece of shit, though. He sucks and it's on purpose. I lean into him being rude and cold and a bit quieter overall.
He just... for some fucking reason when I decided to play this game Linebeck struck a chord with me whether or not I realized it at the time so he's just very interesting and entertaining and important to me and it really doesn't help that either Phantom Hourglass as a whole or just Linebeck is my special interest.
Linebeck stands out in comparison to other Zelda characters and has a very unique and fascinating role and arc and is just so fucking good.
He feels like he could be used as an example of how good character writing can save a piece of art (not that ph sucks but like. god damn he elevates it) just because his inclusion makes the story more interesting as you have this selfish asshole tagging along next to your little goody-two-shoes protagonist and fairy friend, and his arc, though not entirely the focus of the story, is another reason to keep progressing. His dialogue is funny and has some really good in-character tips every so often, he adds character to traversal and adds stakes as a character to care about and protect and is just fucking fantastic.
He's a character that can work as comedic relief but at the same time can be taken very seriously and I really enjoy that while he seems to be in the role of comedic relief a lot it never seems much like it's diegetically intentional and it still allows room for him to be taken completely seriously. Him knocking over stone Tetra is funny but there's so much character in that entire string of animations that while it's a fun background gag it also provides even more insight into Linebeck as a character.
Essentially he's my favorite character ever he was probably my gay awakening and I want to steal his gender and I think about him more than I think about my ocs.
#linebeck#asks#whistlingstarlight#loz#legend of zelda#phantom hourglass#salty talks#literally i got ph in the first place bc some old zeldatubers made a good case abt him and i vaguely remembered reading the manga#and now im still playing it bc of him. do it for him. whatever. easily one of the most important fictional characters ive experienced#i tried to make this more.... formal??? cuz you asked so nicely ty for the ask#i tried to just give some kind of idea of my basic ideas? i didnt want to get too specific since you just asked for thoughts#had a couple of instances of imposter syndrome pop up while writing this bc it feels weird to me to call ph or linebeck my special interest#when i dont look at anything beyond the game half of the time so idk. i think abt and can talk abt linebeck in specific for a while ig#i didn't want to go too in depth with anything since the ask was a lil vague and i didnt want to go into massive tangents#i think i still have the high school essay-writing format brainworms this feels like a structured essay#whatever im insane about him but this is really long and i dont know what to focus on#long post#i stg if the fucking 'keep reading' teleports to where it shouldnt be#anyways a few of my linebeck pet peeves are when people treat him as shallow comic relief or ignore his character arc#i have a lot of linebeck pet peeves but those are the basic ones. pls be nice to him#i empathize a lot with linebeck hence the projection i do with him so idk what that says about me but hes got gay autistic swag so whatever#i left out a lot of other stuff bc some of it would maybe require a mature label. im insane abt him but im also gay abt him

I will get to Mary Wardwell another day. But the fucking heartbreak, betrayal that Zelda Spellman suffered was grotesque, and uncalled for. They fucking broke her down again and again, and for what? Her family is shattered, she’ll probably never love again. The caos writers are so fucked for this. I hate them, and I hope that their careers fail. I want everybody responsible for this atrocity, abolished. Take them out. there was no point in making her suffer the way that she did only for it to be for nothing. I don’t care where the fucking direction of the show was going. My baby did not deserve this. seeing Zelda with Marie was so refreshing, and I was so excited for some fucking lesbian representation.

Before tears of the kingdom came out, I was watching a video on youtube that talked about volcanic signs around hyrule. As they pointed out what different structures around death mountain and akkala could've been, I started seeing those kinds of structures and shapes everywhere and I realized..
Hyrule is on top of a very large volcanic area
I started looking for signs. I realized there were hot springs in tabantha, and hot springs is not just something that cold regions have, no, it's something volcanic regions have.
When tears of the kingdom came out one of my top priotities was to get to the depths and see if there's lava underneath these hot springs, and sure enough there they were! Not only that, I found volcanic shapes in the depths themselves, as well as lava in other places I didn't know about.
Why am I talking about this?
Because they're not just there as decorations, at least not to me.
Look at Hyrule great forest. It obviously used to be a big forest spanning from above hyrule castle all the way to the top of the map, covering the west part of death mountains foot. Now the trees are all burned down from a volcanic eruption, except for in two regions that have strangely moat-looking "rivers" around them.
I'm not going to pretend I believe these are rivers. I'm 100% sure they are man made. These moats were dug in order to protect important land marks, because the people knew that they live on a volcanic region. It's no coincidence that the castle has a huge moat around it as well. They are trying to be safe from their inevitable doom.
But it's not just this. Moats don't always save you, and volcanoes eventually go dormant.
I imagine if you're the least interested in zelda lore and the zelda timeline, you've asked yourself the question, "Why does the map change so drastically?". Well, here's your answer.
Death mountain isn't just any mountain, it's always the most recently active volcano and the place where the gorons live! The gorons move around, when there's a new volcano they move there!
Towns safety become threatened, and so they move. Look at the ruins on the sides of death mountain, they're not burned, they're abandoned. So the people move around, they literally have no choice but to do so, unless they take to drastic measures, like raising your town high above the ground and building a wall around it, like the great plateau.
Why are the sheikah towers buried under ground and designed to shoot up with incredible force? Why not just build them in place and why do they need to be so tall? Maybe they were preparing them to be able to function even after lava has covered the ground.
The extremely mountainous nature of all of hyrule is honestly the best sign we have of this. By looking at the mountains we can conclude where the latest volcano was, and I think it was in Hebra.
So when trying to piece together how the maps work together, you can't look at things like a town, a castle or a volcano, because those things are constantly moving. I'd say maybe the desert could be the way to go, but we've seen very clearly that deserts used to be oceans. If you look to the horizon in gerudo desert in botw, you'll see water.
I think that the gorons migrate when their volcano gets too cold. If we look at majoras mask and assume that termina is in fact a real place, this is the first time we see gorons living in a cold place, and they don't seem to be thriving. Gorons like the warmth that the volcano provides.
So why does death mountain switch places?? Because it's not the same mountain! Death mountain is always the volcano! So one volcano goes dormant, another one pops up and the gorons move there. And this also explains a loooooot of other geographical questions. The people of hyrule are living under a constant threat of destruction by volcano, and that's why they need to move their castles and everything. If we were to assume the temple of time from ocarina of time is the same as in breath of the wild, we clearly see they moved/abandoned the castle and castle town because of the close proximity of death mountain in ocarina of time. It all makes a lot of sense and makes me feel like the map changing isn't such a big problem to me anymore.

You Meet Again/Becoming Friends
Slenderman
Surely, any sane person would have never visited that park again. After seeing a creature straight out of nightmares, you had definitely considered it. But at the same time, something made you want to go back. Maybe you just hallucinated it?
You had a day off, so you decided to go back. You got in your car and drove over to the park you had been at and parked, walking briskly to the woods where you had entered before. You walked down the path and noticed the birds stopped singing. That was a sign of what had happened last time. But you didn't feel the buzzing that erupted into a headache.
You looked around and nearly missed it. It blended into the trees so easily, and you could feel something watching you despite the lack of eyes. You stared down the monster for a minute. None of the headache or nosebleed had started, so you approached it.
It almost felt like a serene feeling was washing over you. Sure, it could have been a lure to capture you, but your gut insisted that it wasn't. Soon, you stood only a bit away and looked up at the towering creature. No headache or nosebleed to speak of.
"Good afternoon." A deep voice suddenly rang in your head. You jumped. It was like the normal voice in your head but much deeper and smoother.
"Good....Good afternoon...?" It came out more like a question than you intended. Were you supposed to use the voice in your head to reply or your normal speaking voice? You weren't sure.
"You can talk to me like that. It's alright. I can communicate either way." You nodded in response. "Well...my name is Y/N. Nice to meet you...?" "Slenderman." You nodded again. "Nice to meet you, Slenderman." "And you as well."
Your visits to the park became more frequent as you hung out with the man. He explained that when he only seemed like a threat when you initially met, it was because he saw you as a threat. You hadn't had the headache and nosebleed that time because he didn't perceive you as a threat anymore. And so you kept up the visits and got to know him more.
BEN Drowned
Soon enough the events that had happened on your N64 transferred to your laptop. Cleverbot would open by itself and the AI would speak. It was eerily human and kept identifying itself as BEN. You'd close out of it and the tab would pop back up. "Turn your t.v on." The AI messaged. You didn't want to just give in and do it but another part of you wondered if anything would happen.
So you made your way over to the TV and turned it on. Legend of Zelda turned on and the title screen sat. You stared at the screen for about thirty seconds. "Knew it wasn't real." You mumbled and reached for the remote which you sat next to the TV.
Suddenly an arm reached out and grabbed yours. A scream bubbled in your stomach and got stuck in your throat as you watched a man pull himself out of the TV. You couldn't believe your eyes. The man brushed him clothes off and fixed his hair and his eyes met yours.
Well...what were supposed to be eyes. His eyes were black with red pupils and a couple of blood drops cascaded down his face. He looked like Link would if he were real. "Sup?" He asked casually and you passed out, unable to comprehend what had just happened.
After that incident he came around more but you didn't pass out again. You got to know each other more and you learned he was pretty chill. He was definitely a stoner but you didn't mind.
Eyeless Jack
He managed to get into your house again. You had triple checked every lock before you got ready for bed and somehow he still got in. You figured he was picking a lock. He only ever came at night and he didn't try to harm you again.
You learned his name was Jack and that he wasn't quite human despite his body's appearance. He was much taller than you had initially realized. And he only ate kidneys. It disgusted you at first. He wasn't much of a talker but you could get him to open up little by little and the two of you grew closer.
Hoodie
Brian had kept his promise, and you two met up in between classes. He had introduced you to his friends, which consisted of Alex, Tim, and Jay. They all seemed pretty friendly. Jay was definitely the most outgoing. Alex seemed more introverted, and Tim was just quiet. Their friend group was definitely nice.
The whole interaction made you look forward to going to school. Even though you didn't see Brian for a long time every day, you two stayed close. Sometimes, you two would talk or do homework together since you had the same class. It was just so much more relaxing to go somewhere where you knew at least one person (now more).
Masky
Tim had gone through and texted you a little later that day. You two ended up going out for coffee, chatting, and getting to know each other better. Normally, you would think twice about going out to coffee with someone you met at your psych doctors office, but it just felt right.
You two began texting more frequently. You learned about each other's jobs, likes, dislikes, etc. Strangely enough, there would be days at a time when he wouldn't text you. At first, you didn't think much of it. You two were still only acquaintances at that point, but when you got closer, you started to notice it.
Maybe he was just busy with his job?
Jeff The Killer
He came back the next night. You were asleep in bed when you awoke again. A soft yawn slipped your lips and you rubbed your eyes. You shifted onto your back and was about to go back go sleep when you noticed a familiar silhouette. "What the fuck?" You mumbled and sat up.
You stared at the silhouette and it stared back. You slowly reached for the knife under your pillow before a voice sounded. "Don't even." The voice was gruff. "Ohhhh...kay." You leaned over and flicked on your side lamp. A man sat at your desk. He had on a white, blood splattered hoodie, jeans, shaggy black hair, pale skin, and a smile cut into his lips.
"Who the fuck are you?" You mumbled. "You don't recognize me Y/N? We went to high school together." You raised your eyebrow and memories of the rumors came back. "No fucking way." He chuckled. "Jeff?" He smirked and nodded. "The fuck happened to you?" He rolled his eyes. "Nice to see you too, sunshine." He retorted. "You heard the rumors I'm sure. You know what happened."
You nodded slightly. "So why did you come here?" You questioned. "Before the whole incident I had wanted to get to know you better. Figure you won't tell anyone about me." "Wait, are you the one that's been stirring shit up in town?" He laughed. "No shit." You rolled your eyes at his smart-ass remark.
He started coming by every night and it didn't take long for you two to catch up and become closer. He was much different from what you remembered but it was to be expected after what had happened to him.
Laughing Jack
Lily had come back over to stay the night, which meant you'd hear about Jack again. To be honest, you had pretty much forgotten about the whole candy incident. The night started off fairly normal. You put on Lily's favorite show, gave her a coloring book and colors, and played on your phone. You glanced up and noticed her staring off again. "Whatcha doing Lil?"
She turned around and grinned at you. "Jack, remember?" You laughed a bit. "Oh yeah. How is he doing?" You asked. "He's good. He wants to meet you for real." She said. "Oh, is that so?" She nodded. "Well, I'm available whenever he is."
Now, like any normal person, you expected her to use her imagination to conjure up Jack. What you didn't expect was for a tall ass monochrome clown to walk out of the guest bedroom. You were stunned, to say the least.
Lily ran and hugged Jack, who hugged her back. "Y/N, this is Jack!" She announced. You shook your head, blinked a couple of times, and he was still there. "Alright, alright." You mumbled to yourself. "How did you get into my house?" Was the first words out of your mouth. "Simple, darling. I can appear and disappear at will." He said as if it was every day business. "Prove it." And so he did. In a puff of smoke, he vanished and then reappeared beside you.
"What the-!" You nearly cursed. He grinned, seemingly amused at the incident. "Did you enjoy the candy?" He questioned. "Oh! Um, yes." A light blush dusted your face. Suddenly, his eyes lit up. "So yes, I'm Jack. How silly of me to forget." He held a hand out, long claws at the ends of his fingers. "Y/N. Nice to meet you." He grinned and nodded.
Jack's visits became more frequent, and eventually, he started coming without Lily. You learned that he was technically an imaginary friend but had free will, and the two of you became closer.

"Why did Tears of the Kingdom have a development cycle just as long as Breath of the Wild's even though it reused so many assets?" is a question that I think fundamentally misunderstands how modern game design works
It assumes that the team does something like all sit down, develop the physics engine, then they can move on to the overworld map, then they can move on to making the cutscenes, etc. and when you think about that for just a second it becomes obviously absurd. Developing a physics engine, writing dialogue, creating textures, designing puzzles, and so on are all different disciplines that different specialists work on in parallel and in cooperation
What probably actually happened is a lot of the artists, engine devs, and so on put a lot less time into the project, before/while working on a bunch of different projects at Nintendo (quite possibly including the engine and art for the next Zelda game), and they also probably didn't need to get Monolith Soft to help design the overworld. Meanwhile, the puzzle designers, writers, and a lot of the rest of the team have to do just as much work as they did for Breath of the Wild (or more!), and so it's not that surprising that it took just as long
(Disclaimer that I don't know for certain that this is how it happened internally at Nintendo, and short of interviewing the devs I don't think there's any way to find out. The credits won't help because close to all of the people who moved on to other teams either worked on TotK for part of the development and/or had their work ported over from BotW. This is just my understanding of how modern AAA game development works)

random thought about the memory system
a big difference between why botws memories worked so well but totks didnt is mainly bc in botw, there wasnt that much plot, you kinda knew what was up by the time you left the tutorial, all memories serve you just as well as link, sending you around a hyrule you dont know, the few scenes of main characters do a good job of giving you an idea of who they are, but the majority is focused on zelda and link, why she acted to cold to him at first and later became friends, the characterization being not jsut in memories but also in how people remember them, their diary etc, when you meet their ghosts theres a familiarity to how they talk to you, they know and care about you, its like giving you late friend one last visit; getting memories out of order really doesnt hurt that characterization and overall it really just serves to flesh out the past and what made this world the way you see it now but mainly it gives you characters
in totk, its ... the main plot driving thing, you are here for the story now more than the world bc you know the world already, besides the sages stuff (that isnt much either besides some legends that apprently were always a thing but never popped up until now), its basically the entire plot and it all hinges on it, its trying to be both plot and character introduction AND characterization, which it simply cant do; we already know zelda and what shes like, but its like the game itself doesnt know what to do with her now, she doesnt do anything, she stands around listenign to strangers talk, whenever she says anything shes dismissed or it simply doesnt matter, the most she does is go around to faceless and nameless sages of old we dont know nor care about in a damn near copy paste scene begging them to help link of the far future somehow even tho they really have no reason to and then she swallows a stone bc she has literally no other choice; fleshing out the past doesnt work either bc this past is so far removed from anything of the world and people you know that theres simply no meaningful connection to make you really care, there are no characters alive that knew the people of old ...except mineru and rauru are still there, but then dont tell you shit, theres so much you dont know about them, their world or history and they dont tell you anything bc *gestures vaguely* ?? even ganondorf only says some standard villain stuff that tells us pretty much nothing about him nor rauru, no one in your time asking you who the hell that ghost powered robot is? no she sits in her robot somewhere deep underground (how does she even get out of there at the end, she needed you to drive her around to her own temple after all) given how straight up obsessed hyrules entire population is with sonau stuff they sure dont do anything with a literal person from that time and then at the end she jsut goes poof, welp, guess we will never, sure, fine keep your secrects; getting the memories out of order destroys literally any kind of story that was there, like it wasnt predicatble from like memory 3 to where it would go (predicable can be good but in this case its boring as hell) anyway
.. theres more i could talk about but this is already longer than intended and i want to do other things but this with my evening, you probably heard most of my problems with this game in my rants by now anyway

I completely understand if you don’t feel comfortable answering this, but my mind is spiraling out of control and you’re the only person I know with the level of knowledge to where I can feel comfortable asking this without getting some form of “bla bla we live in a safe state don’t worry.”
I’m sincerely wondering if I need to be making plans to leave the country in the event of November bringing the most horrible of outcomes despite our best efforts (and yes I’m planning to vote blue in everything I can); as a AFAB in CA?
I know about project 2025. I’m terrified. Forgive my pop culture reference, but I feel like a version of Princess Zelda staring down a barrel of possible doom while everyone around me is like “nah that future you literally had a nightmare about where they made it illegal for a woman to have a bank account without a guy co-signing it and took the money from everyone who didn’t comply by a certain date isn’t even a possibility!”
I’m just confused about my life and am trying to take it day by day, and exercising every right while I still have it to prevent this outcome, but it feels weird making plans and retirement accounts and just general Setting Up Adult Life And Future Things™️……while wondering if I even have a future in this place at all and I’m just making it harder to escape if need be.
I’m sorry I’m rambling, and I guess I don’t know what I’m asking since no one has a crystal ball.
But I guess, it’s stuff like how much can the feds effect state’s policies? Is it possible for them to immediately block international travel for all women practically upon inauguration? How much time would I even have to gtfo if the worst begins?
Bc honestly this whole thing feels like the lead in to a very nasty chapter of a history book, and even though I have hope we’ll have another blue tsunami, it can be hard to try and figure things out when it feels like there’s barely any historical precedent for any of it.
Welp. Okay. First of all, I am giving you a comforting hug, I am walking with you to your favorite coffee shop, I am paying for your favorite beverage and also a baked goodie of your choice, and we are sitting down in a corner where we can talk honestly. So that's where I want you to imagine us having this conversation.
To start with, yes, I completely understand this feeling of utter, paralyzing doom, where I am trying to go about my daily life and make plans for my career and carry out daily tasks and Be Responsible while there's still just this total void beyond the end of the year, the utter impossibility of knowing if we will have dodged an absolutely massive bullet and finally be safe (since if Trump loses again he is 100% going to jail in the next four years) or, well. You know. That is a very hard way to live, when you're wondering if anything is going to matter and you can't see beyond that black cloud of fear on the horizon. It sucks you down and tells you that nothing is worth doing now in case it just gets so much worse. I am not going to tell you not to feel that. We all do. We are all scared. That in and of itself is a perfectly normal way to feel.
However, there are things you can do both now and if (I repeat, if) God absolutely forbid, the worst was to happen (again). First of all, we have already lived through a Trump presidency once. It was terrible and scary and awful and demoralizing as fuck, but we can do it again if we absolutely Goddamn fucking have to (once, again, God forbid). Second, you are currently about as safe as you could be in California. Newsom has proven himself to be smart, tough, able to run rings around Republicans, and unwilling to comply with their stupid performative-cruelty directives. He's not a saint or a magician, but you don't need that; you need a shrewd politician able to fight back, and he has proven himself willing and capable of doing that. So as long as he is governor, you're going to be more safe than not, and I'd also like to ask all the shrieking Online Leftists if, should the shit go down, they would rather live in a state with a Democratic governor who will fight Trump 2.0 every step of the way, or a Republican governor who will just roll over and obey. (But that would destroy their BOTH PARTIES ARE THE SAME talking point, so you know.)
Next of all, even if the Republicans are doing their best impression, America in 2024 isn't Germany in 1934. There are different tools, different ways to fight back, and different awarenesses/social media/visibility factors. I also need everyone to remember that just as Biden can't just sign an executive order and fix everything everywhere, Trump can't just sign an executive order and fuck everything everywhere, just like that with no more discussion ever. He tried that last time, it generally didn't work, and trust me, at least this time nobody is sleeping on the danger he poses. His candidacy in 2016 was dismissed as a long-shot joke that nobody took seriously until it was too late, and for better or worse, people aren't doing that this time. He will be sued instantly, incredibly, and repeatedly with everything his band of wannabe fascists try, and since we have had four years of Biden fixing the courts from where Trump trashed them, that does mean something. There is no scenario where even if he does issue some outrageous order against women, LGBTQ+ people, immigrants, etc (which to be clear, I'm sure he would try) it would just be carried out completely, immediately, and with no feasible way to stop it. Evil is evil, but it is also stupid, clueless, determined to hurt people just for the hell of it without any regard for what is possible or which will be allowed, and there's a lot more grey area in there than just "Trump says something terrible and it's instantly done, the end."
Once again, I'm not going to say that the worst-case scenario is not possible, but I don't think it's likely, and even if that does happen, there are ways for us to survive and fight back (again). Nobody wants it and it should not have to be asked of us due to the utter collapse of the social, civic, political, and intellectual fabric of this country thanks to the TrumpCult, but once again... these people are so loud and dangerous and cruel and stupid because they are in the minority. Etc. etc. polls are garbage, but we did just have an interesting piece of empirical data from the Iowa caucuses. Trump -- in one of the whitest, most rural, most conservative, most religious, most Trump-loving states in the country -- struggled to break 50%. Almost half of a rabid Republican fully-Trumpized electorate, among the diehards sufficiently motivated to get out and caucus in extreme freezing weather, voted for someone else (Haley and DeSantis took about 20% apiece). Now, no, we don't know how that will translate to the general election, and if registered Republicans will flock back to the nominee even if it's Trump, but as almost half of Haley voters said they would vote for Biden if it was a Biden-Trump matchup in the general, there is some sense that Trump is an aberration to their otherwise ironclad party loyalty. Now, Republicans are the fucking worst and nobody should be relying on them to save us; we still need to get out and vote for Democrats with all our might. But Trump is no longer barn-burningly popular even in core Trump heartland, and it'll be interesting to see how things go in future primaries.
My point is: I know the feeling that evil is awful and unstoppable and all-powerful, and will crush our lives and our futures no matter what we do to resist it. I really, really do. But Trump is a terrible candidate, he's running literally only to keep himself out of a long, long prison sentence, and if he had crushed the Iowa caucuses regardless, we might be having a different conversation. However, we need to remember that it is possible, again (God forbid) in the worst scenario, to resist, to live, and to win. Everyone who is motivated to work for a better world will still be here. Everyone who can help you and all of us will still be here. And there are more of us than there are of them. Yes, I do understand the feeling that we need to have contingency plans in place, I do absolutely know that it could get very bad, and all that (as you say, nobody has a crystal ball). But for now, I want you to take a deep breath, try to take this day by day, and remember that this is not a crushing and inevitable future that will sweep over you and destroy you without you (or any other person of good will) having a say in the matter. You still have agency, you still have the ability to protect yourself, and you still have others who will protect you in turn. You're not alone. The bad guys want you to think that, because when you're isolated and terrorized, you're easier to pick off and/or recruit into their cult. But you're not.
In conclusion: "What are we holding onto, Sam?"

”Be grateful for triggers, they show you where you are not free.”
CHIRON NOTES 4
MORE ABOUT CHIRON ➔ CHIRON IN THE HOUSES
Tumblr media
• Ive seen Chiron in the 5th house in the charts of people who were involved in a very nasty custody battle.
• Chiron in the 2nd house might feel like everytime they get money some issue pops up so that they have to put money on that. They might get the biggest paycheck they ever got in their life and that same day their car breaks down or their dishwasher breaks so they have to put that extra money into that.
• Chiron rules scars. So of you have Chiron conjunctions your scars might take a very long time to heal.
• Chiron in the 3rd house might have been teased for their accent.
• Be careful with what you say to people with Chiron in the 1st house because its common for people to comment on their appearance. They are just as sensitive as anyone else. People are just way too ruthless with what they say to Chiron 1st housers. I know some people with this placement and ive noticed that people can comment on their appearance when its uncalled for.
• Venus conjunct Chiron gives very outstanding artistic abilities because here the sense of taste is super sensitive.
• Chiron in the 6th house can be very envious of other peoples work. Might experience people who do the exact same job as them getting more clout etc.
• Chiron conjunct Mars in a mans chart can make him feel like hes not ”man enough” while Venus conjunct Chiron can make a woman feel shes not ”feminine enough”. And Im talking feminine and man enough according to societys standards.
• Mercury conjunct Chiron can have a hard time with communication. Some people with this aspect likes to argue and disagree just for the sake of disagreeing. And if Pluto is involved can be very combative with how they write and talk. Chiron can create a need to outdo others where its placed. But it can also result in the opposite, someone whos afraid to speak up. But a lot of times these people can be very: ”Nope you are WRONG! GOTCHA!” (Other aspects to Mercury can change this)
• Chiron Square Neptune can make you daydream too much. Having a sense of reality might be an issue for you which hinders you from getting things done. Dreaming just feels so comfortable.
•How you handle Chiron in synastry depends a lot on how you handle you own natal Chiron wound. Some people can be VERY triggered when someones Chiron touches their Moon while some wont.
• I also think what planet of yours the other persons Chiron is important. I dont want someones Chiron touching my Venus because I do have a lot of unresolved Venus issues within myself. But I have no issues with someones Chiron touching my Moon.
•People with Venus conjunct Chiron no matter how beautiful have this one thing that people commented on during their younger years that can later become an obsession. They might have grown up with acne and later became obsessed with skincare.
• A lot of people with Chiron in the 1st house likes to walk around with sunglasses on so that people cant see if they look insecure and afraid.
• Mars conjunct Chiron in synastry can make you feel healed by the touch of the others body. Seeing or touching eachother can make you go ”wow”.
• Chiron in the 9th might have had to change schools a lot. Or might have just hated school and didnt want to go there.
• Sun aspecting Chiron is common in the charts of people who have a father who left the family. The ”dead beat dad” placement.

I'm super sick and stuck on the couch so to cheer myself up, here's a list of my favorite displays of Link and Zelda being in love. I'm just gonna freewrite as they pop in my head.
Their house, which Zelda has breathed life into, adding flowers and books and pretties. Link's house is filled with Zelda. He is surrounded by her. Zelda being his life, that must be his favorite place in the world.
Those final scenes in BotW where Link holds Zelda while she cries, and then Zelda holds Link while begging him to be okay. I'm a hopeless romantic, and in general few things twist my heart like those scenes.
The last mission of TotK being "Find Zelda", as that is the ultimate goal for Link. He's defeated Ganon and saved the kingdom, but now it's time for his paramount goal.
Also that entire scene like him pouring everything he's got into restoring his Zelda to human form, and then reaching for her and finally catching her to resolve the whole -series since Skyward Sword- I mean game and then holding her close, cradling her head, keeping her safe.
Zelda's first word after eons of mindless pain being "Link".
Link following the quests with Penn to search for Zelda from "sightings", whether he's done the Dragon Tears quest or not. Either way, I sense desperation.
Zelda's face both when talking about and when talking to Link.
The slow up and down look she gives him after some keese fly at him.
Zelda's powers only activating in a moment of passion over Link being in mortal danger.
Okay I am too sleepy to go on. That cheered me up. My ship is so canon 🥰😴
Feel free to add more for me to read while I'm trying not to toss my cookies
Oh! Edit adding:
