You know what I need? I need two generations of Bridgertons sharing one braincell.
Give me an Edmund lives au where he, his siblings, and his cousin are all teaming up to match make the Bridgerton and Rokesby cousins. Maybe they pull Cecilia and Felix in, too. They can bring extra brain cells. Meanwhile, the Rokesby siblings, Violet and Winifred, are all on the side line waiting to do damage control.
The Rokesby cousins were easy enough to match up. Maybe a few bumps here and there. But dear God Emdund! What is with your brood and scandals?! Move over! You obviously need help!
Just almost every time a Bridgerton gets married so does at least one of their cousins. It's intresting to see the smooth sailing courtships of the cousins and then the dumpster fire that is the Bridgertons.
They're might be a betting pool in the family. Felix is the score keeper because he's the only one whose last name has never been Rokesby or Bridgerton.

Are you taking friends au asks?
I was wondering who gets Rachel at Monica's wedding role? Where she discovers she is pregnant but refuses to say by whom.
Almost any of the couples could fit, from Kathony to polin to philoise to Hyareth.
Whose the Daddy?
So because of everything I've already established in this AU, this story doesn't exactly fit with any one of the Bridgerton couples since they all respectively get together before getting pregnant, meaning nobody can fulfil the "who's the daddy?" element of the plot.
However, I am willing to explore some of the Rokesby series in this AU; and out of those pairings I could potentially see either Andrew and Poppy or Nicholas and Georgie.
Andrew and Poppy could work in hooking up without realising her cousin is married to his brother, and then later on at Nicholas and Georgie's wedding, Billie is consoling Poppy after she's found out she's pregnant. Poppy wants to tell the father but doesn't know how to go about finding him - only to exit the toilets and walk right into Andrew where calamity then ensues.
Alternatively it's at Andrew and Poppy's wedding or maybe even Edmund and Violet's vow renewal where Georgie discovers she's newly pregnant and the shock among the Bridgerton and Rokesby clans occurs when they learn that Nicholas is the father after the pair hooked up at baby Colin's christening six weeks previously.

She could no longer deny the truth exploding in her heart. She loved him. And even now, knowing that she might indeed reach safety without him, some very impractical corner of her heart wanted to take a piece of him with her.

The Other Miss Bridgerton Book Review
Tumblr media
The Other Miss Bridgerton
Author: Julia Quinn
Description: Fiercely independent and adventurous, Poppy Bridgerton will only wed a suitor whose keen intellect and interests match her own. Sadly, none of the fools from her London season qualify. While visiting a friend on the Dorset coast, Poppy is pleasantly surprised to discover a smugglers' hideaway tucked inside a cave. But her delight turns to dismay when two pirates kidnap her and take her aboard a ship, leaving her bound and gagged on the captain's bed...
Rating: ★★★★★★★☆☆☆
Review: Hoist your sails everybody! We’re going on yet another Atlantic adventure! Captain Andrew James very much does not welcome you aboard the Infinity, especially if you’re a Bridgerton. Alas, in The Other Miss Bridgerton he has no choice.
The third book of the Rokesbys is an excitingly thrilling novella about faux pirates, secrets and the seascape, sprinkled with the foreshadowing of exotic places (for a gentle Englishwoman that is). My arms welcome openly Quinn’s successful try of getting out of her dear comfort zone: Great Britain – particularly the ton.
I’ll have to be honest, during my read of the previous Rokesbys I was convinced Andrew’s love interest would eventually be Georgiana Bridgerton. It took me a moment to rewire my brain to digest that The Other Miss Bridgerton wasn’t about them, but rather a cousin of her’s. Nevertheless, Poppy Bridgerton did not disappoint.
Miss Bridgerton is clever, curious and vivacious, much like her future relative Hyacinth Bridgerton. And much like her counterpart Andrew Rokesby. Their shared traits and interests make them undeniably compatible. With an enjoyable dynamic and a skilfully written story, there’s not much to bring this book down.
However, one of its main flaws, in my humble opinion, is that it’s too slow paced. Almost the entirety of this novella is played out in merely six days. I’d understand if the journey took longer time to reach its destination, yet it doesn’t. The Other Miss Bridgerton hangs on a thin line, leaning toward being dragged-out and edging on boring.
On the other hand, its main perk is the few whimsical twists and turns it suddenly takes when you don’t expect it. The last chapter in particular (epilogue notwithstanding) was my favourite, with its ardent emotion and heartwarming resolution.
All in all, a marvellous third instalment to the Bridgerton prequels. It truly holds up to its predecessors, all thus far equally as good. Bravo Julia Quinn, you’ve come a long way.

No, because respectfully Poppy Bridgerton is officially my favorite Bridgerton and the other Miss Bridgerton is my favorite book. Poppy and Andrew may be my new favorite couple. It feels blasphemous to say that because Colin and Penelope have my heart.
But I cannot deny the way that a homeboy risked his life for her safety. Something about love in Lisbon is just chefs kiss.

Look, I never really got emotionally attached to Bridgerton as a show, which is also why I never went and read the books, but the sneaky peeks these days remind me how very attached I was to my three "Spinster Society" OCs and their storylines 🥹
Tumblr media
Ms. Kitty Turner - illegitimate bastard daughter of the late Lord Bridgerton's brother, who - following a string of rather sad events - happened to grow up with her flock of picture perfect Bridgerton cousins.
When it's time for her cousin Daphne to debut, her cousin Anthony as new head of the family makes the decision not to let Kitty debut alongside his sister.
Worried both about what the merciless gossip machine of the ton might do to her and about what such a ruckus could do to Daphne's prospects, he thinks it best to keep her on the periphery of things.
Alas, Queen Charlotte has other ideas ("I believe we are missing a young lady today...") and commands Kitty debuts along with the others.
The young lady in question however is less than thrilled. She had been looking forward to spending the season in peace and with her two best friends. Learning that Poppy is in France and won't be joining them is bad enough, now she has to prance around like a show pony and make nice with spoiled young men who either wouldn't court her even if their life depended on it or who see her as nothing but an exotic notch to put on her belt.
And when it seems that the rakish Duke of Hastings is making the moves on her very innocent cousin, Kitty fears that this season she really has her work cut out for her...
(In which the scene in the maze really is just a misunderstanding and a certain someone declares his intention to marry a certain bastard in front of the Queen and a crowd of people expecting him to propose to The Diamond™️. Also no one is being raped in this one and pulling out is not contraception, thank you ☝️)
Tumblr media
Ms. Poppy Featherington (yes, I know Poppy is also an abbreviation for Penelope shhhht 🤫) - the oldest Featherington daughter used to be her mother's favourite, mostly because the ton was certain that out of all the sisters she was the most likely to strike a notable match. Her mother even harboured hopes that she might be the one to finally tie that inseparable bond with the Bridgertons, when her eldest daughter stroke up a surprising friendship with the future Viscount.
But following her debut season - a season without a match, might we add - she did not return to the ton the following year, chosing instead to study in France, according to her mother.
When she returns for what is supposed to be the season of Miss Edwina Sharma, she is a changed woman - earnest and almost reclusive, without patience for her mother's meddling to intervene with Anthony's and Edwina's budding courtship and opening up only to her best friend Kitty - the new Duchess of Hasting - and her cousin Charlie.
But even they aren't privy to her biggest secret - and the real reason she was missing from the merry and the crazy of the ton for so long...
Tumblr media
Mr. Charlie Featherington - cousin of the Featherington bunch, oldest member of the "Spinster Society" and a definite favourite of the ton in recent seasons.
Alas, where in the first few years people were aghast as to why someone like him - handsome and kind, with a sweet smiley and dreamy eyes - hadn't found himself a wife yet, more recently hushed rumours have been starting to circulate behind close doors as to why the young man might not be in a hurry to marry.
Benedict Bridgerton - fully occupied by his family's own dramas and scandals and thus blissfully unaware of most of the ton's secrets, lies and cause for rage - is happy to find a likeminded friend in passionate writer and artistic soul Charlie, as well as someone who is not afraid to be frank about his opinions on Benedict's art.
But soon Benedict sees reason to question Charlie's feelings for him - and yet more importantly, the way he feels about the sweet, young man who seems to be so utterly at peace with the implications of living out his days a "Bachelor".

I started reading The Other Miss Bridgerton because BookXcess didn't have the mainline bridgerton books and I'm gonna be real it's a lil better than the main series because Julia Quinn really like, hones her abilities as a writer after the main series is done. but this comes with the side effect of me being fully and entirely obsessed with Poppy Bridgerton, THEIR DEAD FATHER'S COUSIN who doesn't even show up in the TV show and never will.

Ranking the Rokesby Series
So after recently reading all 4 Rokesby books, here’s my ranking of them;
1. The Girl With The Make-Believe Husband
Cecilia and Edward’s love story has to be my favourite from the sheer drama of it all. This book has everything; the hero suffering from amnesia, the heroine pretending to be his wife, a brother MIA, falling in love over correspondence, a strawberry-induced allergic reaction, and the ever beloved “there’s only one bed” trope. I also think Cecilia and Edward’s book is my favourite of the Rokesby series because while reading it I felt as though it was a bit Benophie-coded, due in part to the heroine having to go by an alternate identity of sorts and the hero not being any the wiser right up until the last few chapters (though to be fair Edward is suffering from memory loss - Benedict is just an idiot lmao).
2. The Other Miss Bridgerton
Andrew and Poppy are next and while I initially thought Billie was as chaotic a Bridgerton as her nieces and nephews, it turns out drama and scandal is simply a Bridgerton family trait, as proven by Poppy when she manages to get kidnapped by privateers. Andrew makes for the perfect charmingly cheeky hero and he definitely reminded me a lot of Colin especially with his inability to stay in one place for too long yet coming to a point where he desired more from life. I enjoyed the witty back and forth between the pair but also how closely they bonded through their deeper conversations and how their attraction became more and more palpable as the story progressed. I genuinely didn’t expect the drama that would ensue upon their arrival in Portugal but it made for a pleasant surprise and appropriately raised the stakes for them to realise just how much they meant to each other.
3. Because Of Miss Bridgerton
Now while I did thoroughly love George and Billie’s love story they’ve ended up ranking third only because there was so much drama in the above books in stark contrast. Again, I can’t help but compare the Rokesby series with the Bridgerton series and in doing so it’s so abundantly clear that this story is Kanthony-coded; from the enemies-to-lovers trope between two respective eldest siblings, the alleged supposition among the other characters that Billie is destined to end up with one of George’s brothers (even though it’s quite obvious that the supporting players are all lowkey side-eyeing the pair throughout), and even a game of Pall Mall featuring the mallet of death. While it could be viewed as an italicized version of Kanthony; TVWLM is one of Julia Quinn’s best stories for a reason so fuck it, why shouldn’t it be echoed?
4. First Comes Scandal
And just because Georgie and Nicholas’s story is ranked fourth doesn’t mean I didn’t enjoy it; again, purely based off of drama, this book simply wasn’t as wildly dramatic as it’s three predecessors. I loved the Muppet baby cameos of young ABC but if anything I loved it too much because I wanted more of them, plus I was a little disappointed that we never saw Edmund’s reaction to his best friend becoming engaged to his younger sister; did he get mad, was he shooketh, or did he find it a bit funny? For me the journey to Scotland dragged on a little more than I would have liked though I did enjoy reading how Georgie and Nicholas slowly fell for each other and transitioned from being friends to lovers (plus it was a nice touch having their first time being both of their first times; it gave their love scene a fresh dynamic from the rest of Regency couples’ first times).

"Is it the first time you've been kidnapped?"
"Yes."
"The first time you've been tied up?"
He hesitated.
She gasped. "Captain Ja---"
"In this manner," he said quickly. And with great volume and emphasis, as if he needed to cut off her query about as much as he needed, for example, air.
Her eyes narrowed. "What does that mean?"
It was possibly the first time she had seen him truly blush, which should have been enough to make her want to force him to answer. But given the circumstances, she decided to let it pass. For the most part.
She gave him a shrewd look. "Can I ask you that question later?"
"Please don't."
"Are you sure?"
There was a noise people sometimes made---it was halfway between a laugh and a cry but it just ended up sounding like irony.
Andrew made that noise, right before saying, "Not even a little bit."
