in a modern au, i always filp flop on how to incorporate sevika's mechanical arm into her character. sometimes i think she has a prosthetic, but sadly prosthetics today can't move and function as well as her prosthetic in canon, so sometimes i think she just has severe nerve and tissue damage on her arm from a fire.
which is what we're gonna do for tattoo artist sev.
she starts getting into tattoos because of her arm. she struggles with its appearance, so she teaches herself how to do stick and pokes with household objects. she practices on oranges and bananas until she feels comfortable enough with it, then she starts tattooing her arm.
it starts with a few stars on her wrist, a lightening bolt on her pinky.
she likes it.
she likes it so much, that every time she feels especially depressed about her arm (about once a week) she adds a new tattoo. it always manages to cheer her up-- the ability to create something beautiful on something (she considers) mangled.
she starts sketching ideas for new tattoos-- skulls, flowers, various animals.
she starts practicing different fonts too.
eventually, when she's got about a quarter of her arm covered up in simple line art stick and pokes, she gives in and buys herself a tattoo gun.
within a year, she's got a full sleeve-- all done by herself.
her friends start asking her for tattoos, which leads to friends of friends asking for tattoos in exchange for money, which leads to silco finding her and offering her an apprenticeship at his tattoo and piercings shop.
she says yes without hesitation.
it's the first job she's ever had that she actually loves. once she's finished with her apprenticeship, she specializes in tattoos that cover scars-- whether they're from injuries, surgeries, or self harm.
seeing her clients cry in the mirror at the sight of their new art-- something beautiful drawn over a painful memory-- never fails to get her a little misty eyed herself.
she always wears wife-pleasers to show off her ink. even in the winter-- she'll bundle up under sweaters and coats until she gets to the shop where she strips down until her arms are bare.
she's not too fussy about her clothes-- prefers comfort over fashion. cargo pants, jeans, and sweatpants are her go-to's. she keeps her hair slicked back with gel, out of her face and behind her ears.
the first time you meet-- you almost pass out at the sight of her.
you'd come in for a piercing on your nostril. it had gone smoothly, silco instructing you to breathe in, then out as he shoved the needle through your skin. he shoved the stud in, and helped you stand when sevika walked in from her lunch break.
silco helped you sit back down, explaining that sometimes people get shaky from the shock and adrenaline. you nodded along, not wanting to tell him you were actually weak in the knees because of the woman standing before you.
sevika didn't notice you until you were checking out at the front desk. she nearly fucked up her client's leg tattoo she was so busy gawking at you. you caught her staring and smiled shyly, waving at her. she grinned.
sevika's silco's best artist-- which is why he doesn't give her any shit when she puts her gun down and tells her client "one second," before dashing out the store to follow you down the street.
"'scuse me!" she calls out. you whip around, shocked to see the handsome woman jogging after you. "i, um..." she gets choked up standing in front of you, nervous and cursing herself for being crazy enough to chase after a complete stranger.
"i like your tattoos." you say to fill the awkward silence as sevika tries to find her voice. a bashful smile creeps up her lips.
"yeah?"
"yeah." you say. "'specially this one." you say, pointing to the 'DYKE' knuckle tattoos on her left fingers.
sevika sputters and blushes, it takes her a solid minute to reply to you.
"do you... ever think about getting some of your own?" she asks eventually. you raise an eyebrow.
"who says i don't already have some?" you ask. she blinks, her eyes quickly scanning up and down your body like she's trying to figure out where, exactly, you were hiding your ink. she has to clear her throat and shake her head to stop the dirty thoughts from clouding her mind.
"well... if you ever want some more..." she says, nervously scratching the back of her neck. you giggle.
"i dunno. tattoos are pretty expensive, it'll be a while 'til i can save up for another." she deflates in front of you and you grin. "but, you know, dinner for two is much less expensive." you suggest. sevika's jaw drops.
you exchange names and numbers, sevika reluctantly returns to her work, only to be interrupted by a ping on her cellphone twenty minutes later.
sevika opens the message and grins when she sees a message from you. she opens it, and nearly falls out of her rolling stool when she sees a picture of your tits barely concealed by your lacy bra, a tattoo peeking out between them. you'd captioned the message: "sneak peek."
it's then that she realizes that she's found her soulmate.

Yes I can, I appreciate your interest!! I use paint tool sai 2 which is kind of archaic, but I've been drawing on a wacom pen and touch small + using paint tool sai since 2012 and I'm too stubborn to move onto something better. I actually only use three brushes so I've made a little drawing where I only use one brush per character to show the differences:

I drew my three big faves cause frankly I am sick of looking at kallamar and narinder's smug faces lmaoooo ANYWAY. GOING FROM LEFT TO RIGHT, WE HAVE THE CHUNKY BRUSH. I use that brush for messily coloring things in, doing big blocky background shapes, or just adding texture to a drawing. It's my favorite brush to paint with but I have not....finished a painting for this blog yet...
Then for the crunchy brush, it's a tool I use half for lineart and half for coloring. I use it for stuff like changes in fur color/markings, drawing all the lines in the backgrounds I do, and finer details the chunky brush can't handle. It's also the lineart tool I use for my drawings where the lines are all on the inside of the chararacters but not the outside!
As for the smooth brush, this one only ever gets used for lines but it was created when I was so bored of my lineart tool I stopped drawing for a while. I wanted a calligraphy pen and had to work around SAI's limitations, so while it doesn't have that thin-thick angular effect that calligraphy pens have....I manually apply the pressure and it looks passable enough. I hope.
The brush settings are visible in the pics but uNFORTUNATELY I DO *NOT* remember where I got my stupid brush pack from. I literally downloaded the files before I was even a teenager but I *do* remember they're from deviantart. If anyone is for some reason kicking and screaming to acquire this ancient, crusty brush pack I'm sure I could throw it in a google drive
I have other useless information about my process if any of this is remotely helpful: for the anaglyph effect on my lines, I literally take a full 120 seconds to copy+paste two copies of my lineart, color it red and cyan, and then slightly move them up+down beneath the black lineart to get that 3dish effect. My flat backgrounds are just another sai preset texture, usually the checkerboard one cause it's swag. The rest of my brushes are just for utility or to fill in the gaps, that scroll bar leads to a bunch of empty space. They're not worth showing off just because they don't ever get used, or it's just like. The bucket tool. The select tool. A binary pen I never use. And lastly, for my usual lines, I actually go back and mess them up myself to get them to look more chaotic...my lines are usually smooth + even but it's so boring to look at and time consuming that I'm trying to unlearn that.
here's a wip of what my lines USUALLY look like with the smooth brush. You can see for the background I mostly used the chunky brush for shapes and then the crunchy brush for the finer lines! But yeah it takes forever to do smooth lines because I have nerve damage in my arm (it's why my stabilizer is maxed out...) and I refuse to use the line tool. In a professional setting I definitely make sure my lines are polished but this is just my goofy fanart blog and I want everything to look like it's been laced with crack.
I HOPE ANY OF THIS HELPS?? OR JUST SATES YOUR CURIOSITY, I try to not gatekeep the way I do my art so I have literally no secrets tbh

finished almost all of my finals, so stressed and can't wait for it to be over and have a relaxing winter break

I love artist gf for Hasan.
Because we know that his dad drilled it into him that you can't make a living out of doing art, so him just going and commiting to someone who does gots me 🥰🥰🥰.
Like he mentions that he used to draw as a teen to you one day, probably while your drawing him, and you're just like "Oh??? You should draw something for me then!" And he does, and you just compliment it, talking about how you can tell he used to be very talented and how it still shows in the stuff he makes.
Which turns into you sketching with him. Showing him the different kinds of warm ups that you do and giving him constructive criticism on how he draws as well. And getting him into painting!!! Starting him off with more abstract subjects to paint, like "something blue" or following a bob Ross together (because paint actually objects is really hard at first). And then having like date nights that are more competitive, where you both have like an hour to paint a glass or the kitchen or Kaya. But also having one big canvas that you both work on together (maybe a wall that you're both painting a mural on, becuase why own a house if you're not personalizing it).
I feel like when you into an art block is when he starts to ask you to show him techniques and introduce him to new mediums. It's his way of getting you to continue to create things without putting any pressure on you to make something amazing. Would probably ask you he you would go about drawing or painting random objects of animals, things he knows you haven't done before, also as his way of keeping you making new things.
Don't get me started on dad!Hasan who is most definitely an art dad, with his wife who is an actual artist.

What the shit is everhood

so everhood is a game that I would say is very similar to undertale, from the pixel art style to the humour to the general uhh theme? i guess is the word? Where you play as a wooden puppet named red on a quest to get your arm back from gold pig. The battle mechanic is a rhythm based system where you have to jump around and over beats the enemies through at you. The music is absolutely fucking fantastic and i actually bought the soundtrack i like it so much lol
a couple battles get absolutely insane with the visuals too, to the point im not even totally sure i can do a description justice? you can check out this video if you're curious, theres really no spoilers in this battle but it shows what im talking about. these battles are where the photosensitivity warning really comes in though, so be cautious if that effects you
I can't go too deep into the plot without getting into spoiler territory, so i'll put that under the cut for anyone who's curious, but here's what I can say! You go around collecting clues to find gold pig and get your arm back, and along the way you get to meet all the wonderful characters that populate Everhood. Like Rasta beast, Noseferatchu the sneezing vampire, Flan and Muck, the dancing mushrooms, a vampire who's name always changes. You really get to know and love these characters while also learning that maybe everything isn't as it seems in Everhood. Maybe, actually nothing is what it seems. Maybe you're the only one willing to do something about. But..... are you willing?
oh also kermit is there and I think he might be god? Also you can kill him and it impacts literally nothing
Full plot summary under the cut. I highly recommend you play the game without spoilers, but if you're like me and you Need to know what happens before you play then go wild. I'll only be talking about the intended good ending though, since I haven't gotten around to playing the secret endings yet- oh also mild spoilers for undertale i guess if youre worried about that in 2023
so when I say its similar to undertale in themes, its sort of. in a reverse sense. In undertale the good ending is the pacifist route. By saving the monsters you help them escape the underground and better their situation. It is mercy, the direct functional opposite of killing, that saves you. There is no mercy kill because using mercy ends the fight period.
Well in Everhood, the good ending requires you to kill everyone.
Your arm was taken from you because you've done this before, wiped out countless lives, friends even. And now you must finish the job. Its hard and sad and it sucks but it has to be you because no one else is going to. It falls on you to go back to these spots you've been through already, these happy cheerful locations, and hunt down everyone you've come to know over the course of the game.
so why do you need to kill everyone? and how on earth is it similar to undertale at all? well, Everhood isn't just the title of the game or the location it takes place, its the state every single character in the game is stuck in.
in the distant past, humanity found a way to reach another world, one they called Everhood. And in this world, no one could ever die. Some people chose to stay in this world, which lost connection to the human world for some reason i dont remember rn, and in doing so slowly lost their humanity. They lived for eons and eons and eons, changing their shape and loosing themselves in the process. You discover at one point that the Green Mage, a chaotic character whom I love, has been keeping track of the years everyone has spent in Everhood, every year a tally on the wall of their secret playroom. It takes three hours to get to the end of this hallway, to give you an idea of scale here. three real time hours.
Your character, Red, is a vessel for the literal human player behind the screen to free the inhabitants of Everhood from eternity. They aren't really happy. They can't be. They've been stuck for so long, and even though they beg and plead for you not to kill them you have to. Its the only way for them to be happy and move on from Everhood. And don't get me wrong you CAN choose not to go through with it. You have to actively fight back after this reveal to kill anyone. I haven't played through this way, so I can't speak on it.
The ending is sort of ambiguous, in which Pink (the person pretending to be Red and letting you the player control them) goes to an afterlife after killing everyone and gets to see them one last time, and they're happy. They forgive you. One by one you talk to them and they thank you for freeing them, apologize for fighting you, and move on happily to whatever comes after death. I choose to interpret it literally, but there's something to be said about the idea it's all in Pink's head. I don't think it was meant to be taken that way, but its one way to look at it.
The game sort of looses people with this being the good ending. But I think it's a beautiful metaphor. Sometimes you keep doing things that hurt you only because you're used to it. Maybe you don't even realize how its hurting you, its better than the alternative right? For the longest time I kept my bedroom blinds perpetually closed because the bright sunlight gave me headaches. I didn't realize just how depressed it was making me to be in near constant darkness like that. It was only after I bought a plant on a whim that I realized how much happier I was letting in the sunlight. You get so used to bad habits and awful jobs and clothes you hate because they're familiar. And doesn't it just seem easier? To take non-action and let everyone keep living and having fun in Everhood? Green Mage hosts DnD every week (or whatever counts as a week after you've lived for eternity), go play with the mushrooms in the forest, doesn't that sound lovely? You don't have to kill anyone, just keep living on exactly as you were! You have friends here Red! It hurts too much to kill them! they don't want to die! why not just give up? How could anything good come from the pain of change?

You wanted cute things, so here I am!
- Seb and Nicky get into momma's makeup and paint their faces with it. They look a bit like drunk clowns but they're so sweet and so proud that Toto and Nico just laugh
- the whole family go on a trip to an art gallery. Nicky adores the art so Toto lifts him up so he can see each one properly and explains the stories behind them. Meanwhile Seb drags Nico from room to room looking for the goriest paintings
- Nico does his triathlon, and toto takes Seb and Nicky to cheer him on with Kimi (and maybe Tonio). They make glittery signs to encourage him, and cheer as he crosses the finish line. Nicky hands Nico and Jenson little paper medals that they wear next to their actual medals. Afterwards, Nico invites Jenson to dinner with them and Jenson spends the entire time flirting outrageously with Kimi (and Tonio if he's there)
- Seb is fascinated by checo and the Pallas kittens next door. When he sees them standing on their tails for warmth he wants to try, but ends up hurting himself or tripping over every time until checo finally teaches him to do it properly
- Kimi babysits when Toto and Nico go out for dinner or to one of Toto's work events, and they end up turning the living room into a giant pillow fort. They use all the sheets, blankets and pillows in the house, and mousy brings all of his stuffies, some crayons and a jar of Nutella down into the nest. Seb insists that he's much more grown up, which is why he's brought only two stuffies, plus his race cars and a story book into the nest. When Nico and Toto get back, they find the pups climbing all over Kimi, and instead of taking the fort down, they climb into the nest
- Seb, Dan, and Britta playing on the swings at the park and trying to see who can go the highest. Dan goes really high but falls and breaks his hand. Seb is really scared and wants to cry but doesn't because he wants to be tough for Danny. Dan goes to the hospital and gets a cast which means he can't play as much. Seb and Britta immediately change their games so that he can, and Dan even lets them draw on his cast

- nicky finding Nico's pretty makeup and taking it to seb! He really wants to put it on but has to check with big brother if he thinks momma will be mad! They put the makeup on and show momma after and Nico is a little surprised but just smiles and takes pics of then cos they look cute! (He does hide his expensive stuff on the top shelf after lol)
- pls papa toto having Nicky on his shoulder, little hands patting his hair as he asks papa to read the signs next to the paintings! Toto would love having this quality time with sweet pinky, and nicky is squeaking so happy the while time! Meanwhile Seb is zooming snd making momma come along and judt wants to see the most gruesome stuff lmaooo
- nico being nervous for his triathlon and he doesn't know his whole family is coming tovcheer him on! Toto is there with the kids, Kimi is there and Tonio came along (with maxy?) And checo is there with the kitties! Nico tears up a little seeing them all there and grins as everyone fusses over him and Nicky gives him the paper medal. And jenson is in awe when he gets one too and mousy pats his cheek a lil! And pls Jenson flirting with Kimi and Tonio cos it's a challenge and also checo gets flirted with but checo just distracts him by handing him kittens ksks
- pls the kitties being so good and wrapping their tail around them and standing on it but seb can't lol! Checo eill teach him tho, will do it happily!
- pls Kimi building the kids the biggest pillow Fort and telling them to get what they need inside! Nicky does like 7 trips to get all his plushies and a pot of Nutella with 3 spoons! And Seb tells Kimi he is a big boy so he only has 2 stuffies and Kimi needs to read him their fav book! Nivo and Toto seeing the nest and just chuckling and joining in the softness!
- plsss lil Dan breaking his arms on the swing! It scares sebby and britta a lot to see Dan in pain and crying cos the badger is alwsys so happy! But Dan comes back form the hospital and shows off his cool cast and let's them draw on it!

OK so for the time being I'll be doin epic mickey 2 since my wii has declared that it likes one area of haunted Manor so much that its trapped me there, glitchin out anytime I try to progress

Little Details I Found in Far Cry 3-4
... that I found while I was rewatching stuff for fic accuracy. Jason and Ajay differences + similarities included!
whenever Citra touches Jason, she always touches his left arm first, presumably because that's where the tatau is. Which is a kinda neat detail, considering she only sees him as a warrior she could use.
This is not really something new but I just wanna say it again: when Jason woke up after he killed Vaas, the first thing he heard is Vaas saying 'we're so fucked, Jason'. not 'you're' like in the monologue.
This is also not new, but it's not mentioned anywhere in the wiki-- Jason canonically only has his left arm tatted up. His right arm being tattooed is just via the DLC/tattoo editor thing Ubisoft added and from old character arts.
Also, his tatau is canonically incomplete if you pick the 'save your friends' ending, because he was supposed to get it properly finished if he chose the path of the warrior. I'm guessing from the gameplay, it's like the last ring on his wrist.
when Ajay met up with Willis for the second time, he opened the helicopter door and started yelling about the files that were useless. Willis then scolded him saying he was un-American for not knocking. Ajay apparently listened, because the next time he meets up with Willis he knocks first.
During Durgesh, whenever Ajay sees a rakshasa the camera pulses and get all wonky which I assume is because a.) they're actually royal guards hence why they try and chase him down to put him back in his cell and they're giving him more drugs and/or b.) he's scared shitless of them
Both Jason and Ajay had supernatural experiences, and yea sure there's the magic compass and Shangri La/Kalinag thing, but also: Jason talked with a ghost of an airplane crash and Ajay can hear Yalung
Both Jason and Ajay got drugged via mysterious powder blown into their face
Both Jason and Ajay had visions of the future while they're drugged
It might be recycled animation but I will die on the hill to believe that Ubisoft made it that way so I can say: Both Jason and Ajay sleep with their hands to the side like princesses when they pass out
Albeit being the quieter of the two, Ajay actually is more vocal during surprise animal attacks. Jason does an 'augh' noise once in a while in contrast to Ajay straight up yelling 'FUCK!' / 'SHIT!!!'
Also we as a fandom always say that Ajay does whatever he's told and is esentially a doormat but the real doormat is Jason. Let's use Willis for an example: Jason does everything Willis tells him to with no objection + no questions and even thanks him for the free flamethrower. Ajay on the other hand asks questions for every single thing Willis tells him to do. (who are you, why should I help you, why do you need pictures of the body, why am I doing this-- it goes on).
This also applies to other missions- Jason never questions/challenges Citra/Dennis during the game (well, until the end). But during the first choice, regardless of who you choose, Ajay will say "you guys put me in a difficult position." In king's bridge if you chose Sabal's route Ajay'll try to argue the sudden change of plan with a "but Amita said--" and vice versa if you pick Amita's route in Jalendu, he'll actually try to ask about Sabal as well. You get my point.
Jason is more violent with stabbing syringes (not healing ones). Sometimes when he pulls it out there'd be blood squirting out of him.
Jason wears a belt. Ajay doesn't. (though to be fair he might be and it's just obscured. The reason Jason's belt is super obvious is because he's not wearing a jacket and the tail of his belt kinda hangs off)
Character model wise, it's kinda funny that during gameplay you can tell Jason gets dirtier via his fingernails while you can't see that from Ajay's gloves-- but in their actual 3d models, Jason is squeaky clean while Ajay looks like he just rolled around in dirt'
