How do y'all feel about OC stories?
I've heard and followed the standard rules like: don't make them overpowered, don't make them only a shipping tool, make sure they fit with the plot, don't character bash, fully establish the character, try not to make them too central to the plot, don't change the main plot too much, try to maintain in-character voices and actions, and lastly don't be too trope-y.
Nothing too specific; I'm writing two separate OC fanfics and I've just been wondering if there are any rules that make OC stories more... appealing to readers.
This might be silly but I want to make sure I actually get engagement and since I know the "Orginal Character" tag turns off a lot of people, hell I rarely click on OC stories myself, I just want to hear from others about what could make them seem a the very least curious about the story. It's kinda been eating at my mind.
Please share your thoughts, it would really help me. 😅
