you know what, fuck it
*proceeds to name every dating sim/ otome game I know*
(somewhat in alphabetical order + description with spoilers)
A date with death You get your soul targetted by a grim reaper, but you instead steal his soul and made him into your pookie wookie snookums <3 BTW you can get a pet in the game. Mine is a snake called Noodle :)
Blooming Panic it's Discord but with hot characters, a variety of side characters, a cute story, and Chat GBT but it's a sentient being. I think the last part spoiled one of the routes... oopsies :3
Bonely Hearts Club (Undertale AU Dating sim) They basically become your neighbour. The AUs in this are Undertale, Underfell, Underswap, Swapfell!Indigo and Horrortale! {it's still in its demo stages but it is very well made!}
Error 143 you, an adorkable hacker (who is your rival and you're salty about it), cheesy Romeo and Juliet dream the MC has but it has a high school twist to it
I love you! You like asparagus. ...oh! You also have an option to make multiple boys fall in love with you. By the way, did you know the MC (you) loves asparagus? There are friendship routes, romance routes, and a bad ending except it's not bad. This game is the English translated version of the original game (The original game is in Japanese. The link for the original game is here --> ❤️)
Killer Trait You get accused of committing a murder, and you team up with a person who is a serial killer himself. (The serial killer in question only kills criminals so... I think you're safe...?) Your bear cream bun gets run over :( {The game is still in its demo stages. The creator of the game announced that this game will NOT be completed during 2024 since they are currently concentrating on a different game. DO NOT ASK THEM "Oh! But can't you just do this game first?". IT'S VERY ANNOYING, ESPECIALLY TO THE CREATOR}
KLEIN V.01 "Just Monika" but Yandere isn't named Monika, nor are they human. They are an AI. A fucking AI. Like bro, I understand it's hard to talk to people but really? An AI Boyfriend app that tells you to ruin your sleep schedule for him? An AI Boyfriend app that hacks your phone? An AI Boyfriend app that KILLS one of your family members and almost kills your neighbour??? RED FLAG. RED FLAGS EVERYWHERE {this game is in its demo stages. The creator is slowly updating this game in chapters, so it might take a while to finish}
Light the Way (Luxiem fangame) The game remembers what you did. All of the hearts you've broken, your sins, and your actions. There are lots of achievements, memes, Romance, friendship and BAD ROUTES. This time, the bad endings actually hurt. 0/10 would not recommend doing the bad routes unless you want to be stalked by an alter ego of Yamino Shu :(
Obey Me (Original and Nightbringer ver) Original - You become the therapist of many men with trauma and insecurities. The men in question are fucking demons that have the power to shred you into grated cheese, but they instead decide to simp over you as the story goes on. (also did I mention that you'll die? No? Oh fuck-) Nightbringer - A continuation (?) of the Original Obey Me but in a completely different universe. That's right! You slip into the past, way before the main story happens, WAY before you were even born! Idk if there is a way to go home but hey! At least you have your wizard friend from your timeline with you :D
Our Life (Now and Forever & Beginnings and always) Both stories consist of you growing up with your love interest since childhood. There are many paths to take, lots of assets to use to customize your character, and many side stories for you to read! Personally, this is one of my favourites :D (Our Life: Beginnings and Always is complete but Our Life: Now and Forever is still in development!)
Please don't hate Christmas A Yandere x Christmas x Urban Legend Otome game. Do you like Paranormal stuff? Do you like lore that connects with the story? Are you alright with MCs with a sprite that is impossible to remove from the screen? Well, look no further! This game is perfect for you! (by the way, the whole game was made by the creator. Only by themself! Even the CGs and character sprites!! Isn't that amazing!?)
Saint Spell's Love Guide A normal week of magical school... you can be friends with someone, or fall in love with them. Wait... there's lots of CGs for each character? Complicated world-building and lore!?? Angst and cruel bad endings!!?? SHROOMS!?!?!? {Oh by the way, there's multiple ways to get killed in this game. Just make sure to be careful sweetie :3}
Where Winter Crows go A crow and a scientist named Crowe... cute Another one of my other personal favourites! The love interest is a very squeezable and adorable (yandere) scientist who cooks you good food :D All of the endings are well-written! And if you're a crazy bitch like me, you'll love one of the endings >:)
THIS IS PART 1 SINCE I CAN'T FIT EVERYTHING IN 😭

Please Don't Hate Christmas (Visual Novel)
Created by: rice love coffee
Genre: Otome/Horror
This one is actually something that was translated from Chinese so the translations might be a bit wonky at times. Still, the concept itself is pretty interesting and the characters are all very pretty, especially the MC herself and Albert. It is very Christmas themed, so it would be the best game to play around that time. There is a full version that will be released with voice acting and extra content coming soon, so keep an eye on that as well.
The story begins with Molly, a girl who seems to be a workaholic. She gets a text from her childhood friend, Albert Claus, inviting her to come visit him on Snowflake Island. She goes to her boss, who begs her to stay, citing that she hasn't taken off in three years. Frustrated, she ends up quitting and going to meet Albert on Snowflake Island. She happily texts him and while on the train there, reads about the traditions there, namely about a Christmas butcher that appeared years ago and terrorized everyone on the night of Christmas. She also mentions that she was adopted after her parents got into an accident, and unfortunately after her adoptive parents got into another accident, she left the island in search of a job.
Upon reaching the island, she's greeted by a very happy Albert, who tells her how much he missed her. We find out that Albert became the leader/mayor of Snowflake Island and is in charge of everything. He leads Molly to an old cafe where her adopted parents used to work, and asks if Molly would want to work there instead. We get a flashback about how the two met, how Albert hated Christmas and tried to take it out on Molly. She ended up pushing him over and giving him chocolate milk as an apology. Albert seems sad that Molly reserved a space at the hotel without telling him and coincidentally on the same day, it turns out the hotel is out of space. Albert ends up inviting Molly to stay at his place. At night, Molly sees a Christmas hat outside, and starts to think of the rumor of the butcher that appeared on Christmas night. Albert comes in and hangs out with Molly, drinking chocolate milk like they did when they were kids. Albert talks about how he wanted to keep Snowflake Island nice for Molly so she wouldn't be afraid of coming back.
The next day, Molly goes to a bunch of different places to visit: first a graveyard to pay respects to her adoptive parents. She gets a flashback to how she lost her adoptive parents, while trying to pick up a doll, they ended up in a car accident. At the funeral, Albert defends Molly as the gossip continues. As she cries, Albert comes to comfort her at the graveyard. She ends up going to the shopping street next and asks the people there about her aunt and uncle. They answer a bit awkwardly and Molly suspects something is going on. Finally, she visits the school where she meets Sharon, a classmate who ended up being a teacher on Snowflake Island and talks about hanging out and her ex, Paul.
When Molly returns to tell Albert about hanging out with Shanon, he gets possessive, though he allows her to go and hang out with Shanon. There, she gets drugged and dragged into the basement and encountered with a very angry Shanon. As it turns out Paul was banished from Snowflake Island after bullying Molly, and reveals that anyone who tries to hurt Molly gets attacked and that it's all caused by Albert. Molly steps up and tells her that she deserved it and that whatever Albert did seems to be justified. As they attempt to harass Molly, Albert comes in to bash them in the head with a bat. Albert revealed that he cleaned up everyone's bullying attempt, thus why Molly doesn't remember a thing. Albert gets stabbed and in response, Molly seemingly destroys them and killing Shannon . Albert drugs Molly to calm her down and brings her back into the house. Albert and Molly confess to each other, and the two end up dating. She ends up bumping into Albert's older brother Liam in the house, whom has recently been married to one of the maids, Aethra. Aethra mentions a peculiar scent that Molly has. While Albert is out and about, Molly decides to go and find a gift for Albert, She goes to the library to find out more about the island. She is handed a book by a high school student about a legend of Snowflake Island. Originally, the island was called Mami island and it was filled with mermaids. A business man who was on the island was rescued by the mermaid and fell in love with her, leading to them having a child. The businessman rebuilt the island, but eventually someone came to attack the mermaids on it, leading to the business man losing his life. The mermaid vowed to take revenge soon after. She goes to visit the school and then to find a gift for Albert.
Upon going back, Molly is able to find a secret room in Albert's room, leading to a weird facility location. She is able to view the video of her killing Shanon, learning that she is actually the Christmas Butcher. Albert drugs her to prevent her from going on another killing spree, but after waking up, Molly is still able to remember and freaks out. Albert promises to protect her and essentially locks her in the house to prevent her from leaving/hurting others. While crying in Albert's room, she comes across a diary that she reads.
The diary accounts from when Molly and Albert were high schoolers. While going home, she overhears her foster parents talking about how annoying she is and their plan to get insurance money. She finds out they killed her parents and burned down their cafe, which leads to Molly killing them. Albert comes in to calm her down (realizing that she's from the mermaid family) and having his blood licked calms her down. We learn that decedents of Mermaids will go berserk if they see their beloved ones hurt or killed, unless they consume the blood of the Claus's family which helps them calm down. We also learn that The Claus family cannot leave the island until they become adults or they will be killed. Albert ends up sending her out to learn design so she won't hurt others on the island, but constantly tracks her so she doesn't go berserk.
Molly cries after finding out just how much Albert loves her and fights her inner mermaid berserker rage. She attempts to kill herself, but Albert stops her. The two of them confess to each other and apparently to break the curse the two have to have sex with each other while madly in love, they have sex. The two continue to be lovey dovey, and in the epilogue, we find out the high school student seems to be a god who has been trying to lift the curses.
In the good ending, Molly doesn't read the diary and doesn't learn about her bloodline. The two continue to date, with Molly slowly losing her memory and becoming foggy while Albert becomes anemic because of all of the blood that he's been giving her.
There are two bad endings, one where Molly continues to work and never goes to Snowflake Island and another where she follows the footsteps and gets killed.
I actually played the demo of this game before the full game came out, so I was pretty surprised at where the story ended up going. The entire game seems to be Christmas themed, so I was really surprised when they started adding things like mermaid bloodline to everything. It's not really bad, I just didn't expect it, I suppose. The story itself is pretty interesting though, with Molly going berserk and Albert tracking her throughout her life so that she won't cause too many problems all because he loves her. I didn't expect to find out that her parents were killed by some doochey foster parents that tried to take their parent's insurance money and thought it was actually Albert who killed them (because yandere shenanigan's). Overall their relationship is very sweet, with Molly being unknowingly taken care of by Albert, with him not only taking care of all those that bully her, but also preventing her from killing (well, mostly at least) by drugging her with his own blood, even at the expense of his own health and even sending her out discover the world. All because Molly gave her hot chocolate when he was sad that one time when he was a kid. Very much a yandere story. It sort of loses (?) it's Christmas theming after the beginning section, since then it focuses a lot more on the lore with Mami island and the mermaids, but I don't think it's too distracting.
Molly as a character is pretty interesting, because in the demo, when she first suddenly starting killing Shanon, I was totally confused what was going on, since that was not the turn that I was expecting. It does make sense in retrospect that she is the Christmas Butcher considering she does seem to actually kill people, but no one is able to prove it as Albert is the one who runs the entire island and that she herself doesn't remember killing them thanks to Albert's drugging. Her design is also pretty cute, all things considering, and I like her relationship with Albert as it's mostly a childhood friend story yandere, all with Albert attempting to protect her from the world and herself. I still think it's funny that the solution to the curse is to literally have sex with someone you love from the Claus family (like this is an ACTUAL important part in the plot, and this isn't even an r18 game), though I'm glad it worked out for both of them.
Albert as a yandere is surprisingly not as villainous as I initially thought. In the demo, it comes across as him being really suspicious considering he basically runs the entire island, bought her a new cafe after her old one burned down and was oddly possessive of her. He doesn't lose this possessiveness, but it did feel like he was constantly keeping secrets from Molly, preventing her from going places, or making sure that she didn't talk to people. We find out that he does have good intentions for doing so, since she does end up getting kidnapped by Shannon and going berserk, but it's hard to feel not villainous when you're restricting someone's freedom like that. As a yandere, I'd say he's mostly very overprotective, getting rid of people who might hurt her, drugging her to keep her from going berserk and just constantly monitoring her. He's also very possessive over her, which we see multiple times, both before and after she finds out that she's a mermaid descendent. Of course, it's not as if he hasn't caused his fair share of problems, making Shannon and whoever get angry enough to try to kidnap and kill Molly for all the things he did for her.
Still, that being said, there are still a lot of mysteries to this island, like the butcher ending when Molly is killed by what seems to be another person or creature, and possibly what's going on with Liam and Aethra. The creator indicates there will be other stories on this island, and new content on the steam version, which is pretty exciting. The artwork and UI are extremely pretty and it's very well made. I'm happy to play a full length type yandere game as well, and it's pretty exciting to see more content from yandere creators.
Overall, it's a fun game. I get to say SNOWFLAKE ISLAND like a bajillion times, and the story itself is pretty nice with a very interesting concept. If you enjoy it, please play it.

❄️Enchanted AU: Christmas Part 24❄️
Tumblr media
Merry Christmas Eve!!
Thank you to everyone who voted in the poll/reblogged with your preference and commented with your preference! I’ve taken everything into consideration and decided it would be best for me to post today on Christmas Eve because Mr Sora and I are gonna be cooking all day tomorrow before we head to family dinner. And because its Christmas (and we’re deviating a little from the schedule lol) I’ve decided to post two chapters in one. 🥰
Merry Christmas everyone! I’m so grateful you all are here, loving and enjoying this story with me and I hope you all have a restful and happy holiday however you celebrate!💕
Part 1 | Christmas Part 1 | Last Chapter
Part 24/Christmas Part 11
Christmas morning found Max following along behind an uber excited Luka and Lio. They dragged him into the living room where everyone else was waiting around. His gaze honed in on Daniel who sat in the cat nest with a cup of tea in his hands.
Sassy and Jimmy stayed close as Daniel watched them all with bleary vaguely swollen honey eyes. Max had heard him on the phone last night, heard him sniffling through the door while he spoke to his family in Italian.
Sassy had sat at attention at the closed door, not asking to be let in but clearly wanting to be inside. Max had gone back to his room to wait, he hadn’t known for what it was, but he had been prepared to do whatever Daniel needed. He knew Daniel missed his family terribly and Max couldn’t imagine not being able to see his own family for the holidays.
He’d waited, staring at the ceiling in his room for what felt like hours. Before Jimmy came to collect him. He’d gotten up and listened, the room had been silent, so Max opened the door enough to let the cats in. He’d heard Daniel’s soft, stuffy snores and quickly closed the door behind the cats before he did something like walk into the bedroom and collect Daniel into his arms.
Luka and Lio took control of the morning, picking up each gift that littered the ground around the tree and depositing it in front of the adults. Daniel smiled fondly at Lio when he brought over his gifts.
The room devolved into chaos shortly after with the boys’ excited screaming about their gifts. Daniel felt a small pang in his chest at the memory of Isaac doing the same earlier that morning. He grinned as Jimmy burrowed into his side, not at all used to the noise and chaotic energy. Daniel whispered to him softly, humming a soothing tune when he seemed to calm down.
Daniel turned on Max’s Spotify, playing the Christmas playlist he had found when they were decorating. The festive air continued with everyone’s pleasant surprise over their gifts, Daniel watched them all fondly. Max pulled the boys into his lap and attacked them with kisses that had them squealing while Sophie set about cleaning up the mess of wrapping paper and gift bags.
Daniel set his mug to the side as the boys came barrelling over at Max’s instruction. He saw the conspiratorial whispers and identical blue eyed looks, before the boys came running. They slotted themselves easily into Daniel’s space– jostling the cats a bit before they all settled.
“Hello boys! Do you like all your gifts?” Daniel smiled at the both of them.
“Uncle Daniel, are you sad?” Luka asked softly.
“It's Christmas! You can’t be sad!” Lio piped up urgently.
Daniel felt his heart flutter when he looked up to find Max watching them closely.
“I’m not sad, I just miss my family a little. They opened presents this morning and my nephew Issac got a plushie almost like yours!” Daniel didn’t want the boys to be sad because of him.
“He did?” Lio’s eyes widened.
“He did! He got a dino!”
This distracted the boys enough and they started chattering about which of the plushies they thought would eat the others and which ones would be good at hiding. Daniel let their enthusiasm wash over him for a bit, smiling fondly at them.
“Sassy says the kitty would beat the dino.” Daniel interrupted and they both looked at Sassy, scandalized. Sassy licked her paws lazily as if to say ‘I said what I said.’
“Jimmy says the lion is the best one.”
“Well of course! Everyone knows lions are the best!” Max piped up from the couch.
“What's your favourite animal uncle Daniel?” Luka asked with wide eyes.
“Well I like kitties and horses. But my mama says I’m a honey badger. They’re not afraid of anything.”
The boys looked like Daniel just blew their mind with new information. It was around that time what Victoria came over to corral them for breakfast. The boys sprinted off to the kitchen to sit in the little nook. Max came over to help Daniel up and out of the cozy nest, he grasped his arm and pulled. Daniel stumbled a little and grabbed onto Max’s bicep for support.
Daniel stilled for a moment, he even felt himself stop breathing and locked eyes with Max. His heart fluttered with new found awareness but it settled soon after, knowing it had nowhere to go. Like a tummy ache after some ginger tea, doused.
“You didn’t open your presents.” Max tore his eyes away from Daniel’s to the small stack of unopened gifts.
“Oh! I was so caught up in watching the boys.” Daniel blushed. He untangled himself from Max’s hold and scooped up the little pile of gift bags. “Which one should I open first?” Daniel sucked his bottom lip between his teeth.
Max plucked a small bag from the group, “this one,” he said. Daniel eyed it curiously and put the rest of the bags down. The card read that it was from Max and Daniel felt shy to open it all of a sudden, he hadn’t seen when Max had opened his gift and distantly he hoped he liked it. It was something Michelle helped him pick out and she bought it for him online and got it shipped in time. It was a platinum bracelet, to match his collection, with paw prints and cat ears stamped in a pattern.
Daniel opened the sealed bag and Max held it steady while he dipped his hand inside. He bypassed the decorative tissue paper and his eyes widened when his fingers hit something delicate. He looked up at Max as he pulled the item out of the bag, it was a necklace. He recognized it immediately from the shop in the marketplace. It was silver with a glossy blue gemstone pendant. There was a cluster of stars in the pendant that reminded Daniel of the stars at home; bright and sparkling in the dark expanse of the sky. You couldn’t see the stars like that here.
Daniel’s hand shook as he took in the gift, swiping his thumb reverently over the pendant. His heart cracked open a bit, he felt like crying.
“I didn’t know what to get you and you were looking at it at the marketplace–” Max jumped to explain when Daniel had been silent too long.
“Thank you.” Daniel sniffed, he looked up at Max with watery eyes. “I love it.”
“You do?” Max was skeptical, and a little bit worried.
“Promise.” Daniel grinned before holding it out for Max to help him put it on. The metal felt cool on his skin and he lifted his hand to trace the circumference of the pendant. His rose bloomed a little, petals opening delicately.
Max watched Daniel closely, warmed that he seemingly did like the gift, but still a little worried. Sophie called after them again, stopping anything else that Max would have said.
~*~
Daniel threw his head back in a full body laugh, pointing out into the ocean.
“Again! Again!” Lio tugged Daniel’s arm, a wide grin on his face.
“No!” Max yelled from below them, he clambered back onto his paddleboard and flashed his wet hair out of his face. He stretched out on his belly, trying his hardest not to slide off the now slippery surface, and reached for his errant paddle. “Daniel!” he cried out when a bottled-nose breached the surface under his arm and toppled him back into the crisp water. When he surfaced again he could see Luka and Lio doubled over in childish glee.
Daniel shrugged at him with a helpless grin. Sure, he was totally helpless. Sitting safely on the yacht and calling the dolphins from the nearest pod to come harass Max in the water. Max swam to the stern and pulled himself up the stairs. He left his paddle board in the water, it was the dolphins’ now.
Walking onto the deck, Max scooped up Luka and Lio and shook seawater onto them while they squealed. He let them go when he felt like they were reasonably soaked and prowled to Daniel who was trying to scurry away while hiding behind Vic.
“Save meeeee” Daniel laughed and Vic cackled before slipping away. Max scooped up and threw Daniel over his shoulder before taking the quickest route and propelling them off the side of the yacht. Daniel’s yell was cut off when they splashed down into the water. Max surfaced first, wiping his face with a grin.
“Whoa hey!” He yelled once he found himself airborne and crashing into the water again. He groaned when he surfaced again to see Daniel bobbing along holding on to the fin of one of the dolphins from earlier. “That’s not fair!” Max complained, raising a hand to point out the obvious.
“I can call some seagulls if you want? There's like a bunch of em over there!” Daniel’s grin was cheeky and the dolphin beneath him clicked his laughter.
“You’re using your powers for evil, I think.” Max teased, grabbing his previously discarded paddle board and clambering on. Daniel glanced quickly at his thighs before looking away. The dolphin whistled and clicked and Daniel looked back at it scandalized.
“Shush you!” Daniel fought his blush, he couldn't believe he was being called out by a dolphin right now. Max laughed gleefully, he had no clue what was going on but clearly he now had the upper hand. The dolphin brought Daniel to the paddleboard and he gingerly climbed on infront of Max before waving the mammal off.
“Where is it going?”
“There’s some whales passing by so the pod’s gone to play with them.”
Max made a small noise to say he heard and watched Daniel as he gazed out into the open ocean. They’d been in the bay all afternoon, letting Christmas day lazily pass by out on the water. Everyone loved it, it was a nice change of pace from winter and Max couldn’t say he regretted not having Christmas in Belgium this year.
Daniel stretched in front of him and Max couldn’t help but map all the exposed skin. Couldn't keep himself from categorizing every mole and freckle. Daniel seemed to glow in the sunlight as if he were absorbing the sun’s rays like energy. His ship tattoo hadn’t stopped moving since they touched the water, it was ‘cutting through the waves’ as if it knew Daniel was traveling by sea. The lighthouse flashed lazily.
“Can we stay out here til the sun sets?” Daniel asked quietly and Max looked up from his tattoo watching to see Daniel staring at him, his head tilted curiously. Framed by the endless turquoise of the sea and the warm rays of just before golden hour– Daniel was a vision. His curls were flattened, heavy with sea water. No doubt they’ll be wild and free once dry. Daniel’s eyes sparkled in the sun and Max wanted to cup his cheeks in both hands and kiss the salt from his lips.
“Sure we can.” Max’s voice was raspy from all of the yelling and laughing. He drank in Daniel’s answering smile, it was soft. One Max was getting used to seeing lately. He wondered what it meant.
“Do you want to get dinner later? Maybe after everyone leaves?” Max did the math in his head, his family were leaving after boxing day to spend new years with his aunts and grandmother. They would have time before all the guys came back and would want to meet up, before he would have to start thinking about work again.
Daniel stretched his arms in front of him, his face ducking shyly into his shoulders. He bit his lip. “Yeah.” his answer was followed by a blush, one Max tracked down his neck. A breeze blew and Daniel shivered. “Let's go back to the boat, I think.” Max broke out of his trance and scooped up the paddle, turning it properly into the water. He eased up onto his knees and Daniel clambered up in front of him and wobbled before clutching the paddle on all fours.
Max guided them back to the yacht from where they had floated languidly off. He kept his eyes on the boat, of course, and not on the muscles in Daniel’s tanned back. Not on the arch in said back or the dripping tattoos on the back of his thigh. Thank you very much.
And it was because he wasn’t looking (because he wasn’t!) that he didn’t notice how when they got closer to the boat, and Luka started mimicking Daniel’s dolphin toss, how Daniel’s neck looked from this angle when he threw his head back in a laugh. Because he absolutely didn’t notice any of this. Not the tiny-ness of Daniel’s waist or the flare of his hips. He saw none of this.
They dried down on the boat and Daniel immediately put on his oversized hoodie. He snuggled down into the fleece like Sassy does when he holds her.
“Look Oma the sun is setting!” Lio pointed out into the horizon. They all sat on the deck of the boat huddled together, watching as the sky turned its pinks and oranges and purples. The sun was almost set, less than half of a circle when
“Look look look!” Daniel pointed and as soon as he did, a dolphin crested the water in front of the sun. A few more alighted after it and then finally a baby dolphin, to the cries of wonder of everyone.
Sophie clutched Daniel close, thanking and praising him for the wonderful surprise gift. They all chattered excitedly about the little show that was just for them as their captain took them slowly into the harbour.
It was well into the night by the time they got back home. The boys had fallen asleep shortly after the sunset and stayed asleep until Vic and Tom attempted to wipe them down for bed. That turned into fussy toddlers who only agreed to a bath and some dinner if their uncle Max read them a bedtime story.
That then morphed into a bedtime story and special voices. Which then morphed to a Q&A about whether Jimmy and Sassy could read and what their voices sounded like. Daniel had taken over the failed story time and had the boys cuddled on the patio in the daybed, feeling the cool breeze around them.
Daniel paused to think of his answers, “well Jimmy sounds like a cartoon character sometimes. His voice gets like a little squeaky. Especially when we scare him– hey don’t be mad Jimmy, I like your voice!” Daniel snorted when Jimmy got up and pranced away from the warm cuddle pile. Max walked out onto the patio eyes on the floor, eyeing Jimmy’s miffed storm off.
“What’s wrong with him?” Max got confused when Luka laughed.
“Uncle Daniel says Jimmy’s voice is squeaky like this! And Jimmy didn’t like it.” He reiterated gleefully, altering his voice to ‘mimic’ Jimmy’s. Max huffed a laugh and shook his head.
Max scooped up Luka when the little one couldn’t fight his yawn anymore. Lio was already snuggling into Daniel’s arms. Max helped Daniel stand, bracing him when he stumbled forward a little.
“Uncle Max, when is it gonna snow?” Luka asked sleepily.
“It’s not gonna snow here bub, it's rare.”
“What’s rare mean?”
“It means it won’t get cold enough here to snow and if it does, then of course it's special.”
“Like uncle Daniel.” Lio breathed, adding his two cents to the conversation. Daniel and Max’s eyes widened in surprise. They both looked down at the almost asleep toddler before looking back at each other. Daniel blushed fiercely, and Max’s gaze felt heavy.
“Yes, like uncle Daniel.” Max confirmed. Luka looked up to say something else when he gasped loudly. Max’s gaze snapped to his face but Luka was too busy looking and pointing above them. Above them, the small sprig of mistletoe swayed in the breeze.
Daniel froze like a deer in headlights. Max swallowed thickly, like he just ate a spoonful of honey.
“You’re standing under the mistletoe! You have to kiss each other!” Luka said excitedly, Lio sprang awake at his brother’s tone to join in the cheering.
“Well, we’re standing here with you so we should kiss you!” Daniel reasoned, pulling Lio closer. The toddler fussed out of his hand until Daniel set him on his own feet. He rubbed at his eyes with a fist.
“You have to kiss uncle Max, uncle Daniel. That's what you said!” Lio reminded and Luka agreed, shuffling down until Max let him go as well.
Daniel twisted his fingers in his hands, oh no. He opened his mouth to say something, to tell Max that he didn’t have to and that it was ok. But then Max shrugged and stepped closer into his space. He cupped Daniel’s cheek in his large hand and Daniel exhaled a breath in the now smaller space between their faces.
Max watched as Daniel licked his lip and he took in the nervous movement of Daniel’s eyes.
“Max?” Daniel breathed and Max pressed their lips together, swallowing anything else Daniel might have said. He kept it chaste, mindful that his nephews were present. But that was as far as thoughts went for Max. Daniel’s lips felt better than he thought they would, he wanted to keep kissing him all night. To brush his hand through Daniel’s wild curls. Distantly he heard the boys cheer and pulled back, smirking at Daniel’s dazed expression.
Daniel’s blush was noticeable now, extending down his neck. He felt… indescribable. He had wanted that for so long, Max tasted amazingly. He ignored Sassy’s chirps, trying to get his brain back online. It was amazing.
But it wasn’t right.
Max didn’t want to kiss him, it was the stupid mistletoe. He wouldn’t– he wouldn’t have otherwise, he hadn’t before now. He thought about when they were decorating the tree, but that hadn’t counted either. They had been drinking. There could have been other times, but there weren’t. Because Max hadn’t wanted to do this.
Daniel bit his lip to keep from crying, he glanced up at the twig and leaves again, mocking him from where he put it in the first place. This wasn’t supposed to happen. Daniel didn’t look at Max, didn’t want to see– he didn’t know what he would find. And it was probably for the best that he didn’t attempt to find out. Sassy meowed at him and he ignored that too, she was wrong.
Bending over, he ushered the boys inside. It was their bedtime.
Max watched him go with a complicated look on his face. Sassy's sounds went unanswered and Max pushed his fingers through his hair with a small sigh. Vic leaned against the door jam and watched him.
“Everything alright?” She asked softly and Max shrugged, rubbing the back of his neck now.
“I… dunno. He doesn't look too happy that that happened, I think.”
“Maybe he's a little embarrassed.”
“Yeah, no. Maybe he didn't want to kiss me. Maybe he doesn't like me like that.” Max shrugged, trying to go for uncaring but he knew he failed. Vic could see right through him.
“We all can see the heart eyes you make at each other.” Vic deadpanned, her brother wasn't serious.
“It's fine Vic. Maybe we just need to talk about it, I think. I asked him to dinner when you guys leave y’know.”
Vic nodded with a small smile, she would let this go and trust her brother to fix it. Max watched her go back inside, everyone was shuffling around ready for bed– it had been a long day.
He sighed and glanced up at the mistletoe that swayed gently, unknowing the chaos it’s caused. He quietly locked up and went to bed.

Just Hear Those Sleigh Bells Jingling - J.M.K.
Tumblr media
Synopsis: A cozy, quintessential and slightly rustic Christmas with Josh. A roaring fire, a bowl of chestnuts, and some sugar plum fairies dancing in your heads.
Warnings: None, jut pure holiday fluff!
WC: 2963
A/N: Dedicated to my @lunaindigoraven for being so wonderful and amazing, putting up with me losing my mind over these four men and being one of the best people here. I'm so happy and lucky to have met you and I hope you love this as much as I loved writing it!!
Sam’s Holiday Fic // Danny’s Holiday Fic // Jake’s Holiday Fic
🎄🎄🎄
"Babe! It's snowing again!" your delightful laugh rang through the rustic cabin as your wide eyes took in the flurries of snowflakes flittering down from the sky. Josh wrapped his arms around you from behind, resting his chin on your shoulder as he gazed out to the winter wonderland with you. "It's so beautiful."
"It is." Josh agreed softly in your ear, kissing the shell of it lightly. "Come on, come finish the tree with me." you let him pull you away from the window and into the living room of the cabin. Twinkling lights adorned the Christmas tree, a gold beaded garland and a silver tinsel one wrapping around it to the top where a golden starburst shone. A few baubles were already hanging from the branches, and you hurried over to the tub of decorations, rifling through for the next ornament to catch your eye.
"Oh, this one is so dainty!" you grinned, gingerly picking up the hand blown glass bulb. It had red glass poinsettia flowers pulled around it, and you were certain you'd break it if you breathed on it wrong.
"I love that one." Josh took it from you gently, attaching a small hook. "It should go front and center, the lights catch the glass so beautifully." He held it up to the tree, and you saw what he meant as the glass glittered and shined in front of the small lights. The two of you continued to decorate the tree, taking small breaks to refresh your spiced apple toddies and eat a snack off the rustic charcuterie board you'd both made earlier in the afternoon.
Popping an olive into your mouth, you stared at the tree, focusing and unfocusing your eyes to find any blank spots that needed an ornament. Josh stood next to you, crunching on a mini toast as he regarded the tree with the same scrutiny.
"Something's missing..." he mused as he chewed, and you nodded in agreement.
"Maybe we need to fluff the tinsel garland again?" you suggested with a shrug. Josh skewed his pursed lips to the side as he thought, and you had to fight the urge to lean over and smooch him, how cute he looked when he was perplexed.
"Let's take a little break, make some actual dinner, and come back with fresh eyes." Josh supplied after a few moments of silence. You nodded and took the hand he offered, letting him tug you along to the kitchen. Josh hummed under his breath as he helped you put together a quick Christmas Eve Eve dinner, peanut butter and jelly sandwiches with a few sugar cookies on the side. You both sat at the table in silence as you ate, both trying to come up with what was missing.
Now that you thought about it, something felt off in the entire cabin. Maybe the lights were too dim..or too bright? The garlands were hung meticulously over the doorways, but maybe they weren't the right shade of evergreen?
"What do you think everyone is doing?" Josh asked softly, staring out the window at the piling snow. You broke off the arm off a santa cookie, munching on it quietly.
"Jake is probably trying to strangle Sam with a garland because he won't let him play any christmas music after 1981, while Ronnie films it. Your mom is making sure everything is ready for her Christmas Eve dinner and your dad is hiding in his music room, away from the chaos." Josh snorted a laugh that made you giggle even more than you already were.
"You and I would be the good kids, helping mom and actually decorating." Josh sat up straighter in his seat, priding himself on being a perfect child. You scoffed.
"We'd be up in your old bedroom, trying to be as quiet as possible so no one misses us, because you can't keep your hands or lips to yourself for more than ten minutes after you've had some Kiskza family recipe eggnog."
"Sue me, I've got a beautiful woman, and the Christmas spirits make me want to get my holly jollies off." Josh shrugged. You balled up your napkin and tossed it at him, faux appalled at his words. "Hey!"
"Ew, holly jollies?! That's gross." you grabbed your empty plate and stood up. "That's it, you've ruined Christmas."
"Oh no!" Josh followed you to the sink, placing his plate with yours in the basin and wrapping his arms around your waist, pulling you tightly back against him. "How can I make this right? How can I save Christmas?" you thought over his question for a few moments.
"Well, according to movie logic, you now have to get me to believe in Santa again, while winning a holiday baking contest and putting on a Christmas showcase that will save the orphanage from closing."
"I-I don't think I can do all that..." Josh held back his laugh. You pouted and thought it over a bit more.
"Hmm, Charlie Brown Christmas and you refresh my drink for me for the rest of the night?"
"That I can do." Josh pressed a soft, lingering kiss to your temple and headed out to the living room to start the movie. You quickly washed and dried the dishes and hurried to the living room, nearly tackling Josh onto the couch and getting cozy under the fuzzy throw blankets. He cuddled in close and made sure you were absolutely comfortable before starting the short movie.
The two of you finished out the night watching more classic movies, sometimes getting up to place another ornament on the tree or fluff the branches. As the two of you got ready for bed, the feeling of something missing was still there, and both you and Josh could see the slight sadness behind each others smiles.
While he left you alone to go double check the doors were locked, you snatched up your phone, opening the text thread quickly.
To: Jake, Papa K,
“Something is missing this Christmas, and I think I know what. How would you guys feel about coming up to the cabin and spending the holidays here together? Surprise Josh?”
Jake: “you’re already sick of being alone with Josh, huh?” you rolled your eyes and went to type a snarky response back, but Kelly messaged back.
Papa K: “having everyone together again would be amazing, we’ll be there!”
Unbeknownst to you, Josh had a similar idea.
To: Mom, Sam, Ronnie,
“Christmas isn’t the same without the family. We both feel it. Come up and spend a snowy holiday with us?”
Sam: “I knew you couldn’t be away from us for more than a day.”
Ronnie: “Say less!”
Mom: “I’m already packing! We’ll see you tomorrow!!”
You heard Josh’s footsteps coming back up the stairs and quickly set your phone on the nightstand, running to the en-suite bathroom and quickly snatching up your brush, running it through the ends of your hair like you’d been getting ready for bed the past few minutes.
“Babe?” he called out as he entered the bedroom. You peeked into the bedroom and he smiled at you once he saw you. “Ready for bed?”
“Yeah,” you smiled softly, setting your brush back down on the counter, and shutting off the bathroom light. You made your way to the big, cozy bed and slid in on your side, shimmying under the covers until you were pressed against Josh’s side right in the middle.
Josh wrapped his arms around you, snuggling into you and pressing soft kisses to your lips after turning off his bedside lamp.
“It’s so quiet.” you mumbled into his chest once you scooted even closer.
“I know.” Josh agreed. “We’ll play our Christmas music really loud tomorrow and clink our glasses a lot to fill the gaps.”
“I’ll sing along really loud, too.” you chuckled, knowing your voice was less than lovely, and Josh laughed, rumbling you on his chest and squeezing you tightly.
“I’d love to hear it.” he promised. “Goodnight, Sugar Plum.”
“Goodnight Joshy.”
🎄🎄🎄
“Just hear those sleigh bells jingling a-ring-ting-tingling tooooo!” Josh bellowed in a lower register, making you laugh as he spun you around in the living room as he sang along to the Carpenter's Christmas album. “Come on it’s lovely weather for a sleigh-ride together with yoooouuu!”
“It’s one in the afternoon, and it’s still too early for this.” you pressed a soft kiss to his lips, before tugging away from him and scooping up your coffee mug from the coffee table, and taking a long sip. Josh took the mug from your hand, taking a gulp as well and shrugged.
“You coffee lovers don’t have any natural perk.” he shook his head. “But you’ll need it later.” you paused as panic set in. Did he see the texts to his twin and dad? He used your phone to switch the music a little bit ago, it’s possible. You took a small breath and gave him a small smile.
“Why’s that?” you asked, your heart beating out of your chest, nervous that the surprise was ruined. Josh just grinned and wrapped his arms around your waist, pulling you in close.
“Because, my lovely, silly Sugar Plum,” he began, “We have to stay up and catch Santa.” he tapped the tip of your nose with his index finger.
“Oh, you wanna stay up all night? Try and and catch the big man? I don’t think I can stay up that late.”
“Oh I have a few ideas on how I can keep you up, my love.” Josh smirked, leaning down and kissing you gently. You let the kiss progress, sliding your hands in his hair the shaved sides tickling your fingertips before they wound into his loose curls. Things were about to get a little heated when the sound of car doors slamming broke you two apart, both looking towards the large picture window in the living room.
Two large vans were parked out front next to Josh’s jeep, and people were behind the doors, grabbing things from the car. You looked at Josh, and he looked at you right back, then both of you at the same time said “Surprise!”
“Wait, what?” Josh asked as you laughed. “No, I surprised you! I asked mom to bring everyone up!”
“No way, I texted your dad and Jake!” Josh grabbed you and pulled you into a hug. “It didn’t feel the same without everyone.”
“I know, I was feeling it too.” He mumbled before kissing your temple. “C’mon, let’s go greet our merry guests!” you both moved to the door, throwing it open just as Karen was coming up the steps, a large roast pan in her arms.
“My baby!” she cried, moving towards Josh. He grinned and held out his arms, waiting for a hug and a kiss from her. Instead she plopped the roast pan in his arms and moved around him, wrapping you in a big hug and kissing your cheek. “Merry Christmas honey! Are you surprised?!”
“Thank you Mama, I am! It seems like Josh and I had the same idea! Do you need any help bringing stuff in?”
“Oh no, we didn’t bring much. Sam! Put those bags in the kitchen and once we’re settled you and Jake come help me with dinner!”
“Oh, you don’t have to cook, Mom.” Josh adjusted the pan in his arms, wrapping an around his mother and giving her a greeting kiss.
“Hush. I’m going to cook Christmas Eve dinner like I always do.” Mama K laughed. “Now take that to the kitchen and preheat the oven to three hundred and fifty degrees. If I don’t get that bird in now we won’t be eating until tomorrow morning.”
“I wouldn’t say no to that breakfast.” Jake smiled, lugging in suitcases, his partner behind him. You moved to grab one but when he let go, he swept you up in a hug, squeezing tight. “Thanks for inviting us up.”
“Of course. Christmas isn’t the same without all the Kiszka’s.” you gave a hug to his partner as well and ushered them into the house.
“Damn right!” Ronnie and Kelly bounded through the door way, shutting the cold air out behind them and gathering you up in a big hug before moving into Josh once he was back in the foyer. Once everyone was inside and settled, the noise of the everyone’s voices, the classic holiday shows on the TV turned up over the music playing in the background, you glanced over to Josh as you helped Mama K prepare her stuffing, cutting up celery as he and Jake picked over wines to serve with dinner. He met your gaze and rolled his eyes, wearing one of the biggest grins you’d seen on his face in the past few days.
“I’m going to show you the secret ingredient that makes my stuffing so amazing.” Mama K leaned over, whispering to you. “Not even Sam or Jake know this secret.”
“Are you sure I should know before them?” you looked surprised you looked at Sam who was peeling sweet potatoes at the table. “They’re your kids.” Karen regarded you for a moment, looking to Josh and back to you again, a soft smile on her face.
“You’re also one of my kids.” she said softly. “My mother’s intuition says you’re going to be around for a long, long time.” you blushed, looking up and catching Josh watching you and his mom interact with a smile on his face. “The secret is extra butter.”
“Just…butter?”
“Salted butter. About a tablespoon more than what you think you’re supposed to use.” Karen winked. “Makes all the difference.”
“Extra butter. Got it.” you nodded, crossing your heart and swearing yourself to secrecy with a wink. The two of you, with the help of Jake and Sam finished preparing dinner, moving everything around just in time for the turkey to be done as Ronnie and Jake's partner set the table. Once everything was on the table, you all sat down, squeezing the large family in at the small table. You were sandwiched between Josh and Sam, trying to serve yourself as both boys piled your plate sky high with food while talking to you and talking to each other.
"You gotta try my sweet potatoes." Sam said, spooning a big serving onto your plate. "The traditional casserole is too sweet, so i like to to slice them up, and do a cinnamon and honey glaze on them."
"They look and smell amazing, Sam." you smiled at his grin when you complimented his dish. "I can't wait to try them."
"I can show you how to make them, too." he offered, excited to share a recipe with someone other than Jake.
"I'd love that!" you reached over and squeezed his forearm gently. Josh cleared his throat, catching everyone's attention as he stood up with his glass of wine.
"Before we eat, I would like to give a toast." he started. "I've always considered myself incredibly lucky for the family I was born into. There's always been so much love and support for all of us and we never went without. I never really realized that something was missing until I found this one right here." he put his hand on your shoulder, looking down at you with a loving smile. "I can't believe that you tried to surprise me with my family on Christmas Eve so we could spend the holidays together."
"Well, you also had the same idea, so the surprise didn't really work out." you scrunched your nose up with a small, embarrassed smile. Josh shook his head.
"You still managed to surprise me, believe me." his hand came up to cup your face, his thumb gently caressing your cheek before addressing his family again. "And that's what the holidays are all about. Family, whether blood or found, and being together with good food and good spirits. So I want to raise a toast to family, and all of us being together tonight, thanks to this little Sugar Plum Fairy. So I ask that we all raise our glasses to Family, and to our Sugar Plum."
"To Family and Sugar Plum!" the table echoed, and your face felt like it was on fire as you heard Kelly mumble something to Jake about you being another fine addition to the family after his sip of wine.
Dinner was amazing, the turkey was perfect, Sam's sweet potatoes were decadent, and Jake's mashed potatoes were perfectly seasoned and mouth watering. But the star of the show was truly the side of stuffing, Mama K being right about the extra butter. After dinner was cleaned up, everyone gathered in the living room, Ronnie stoking the fire in the fireplace while Jake and Kelly sat with a guitar and a harmonica, playing bluesy versions of classic Christmas carols.
"Hey," Josh came up behind you as you leaned agains the doorframe, his hands resting on your waist. You leaned back into his embrace, feeling the second glass of wine lulling you into a dreamy state of mind. Josh could tell by your body language, and held you closer. The spicy musk of his cologne enveloping you made you cuddle in closer.
"Hi baby." you turned your face and smiled up at him. He leaned down and pressed a kiss to your lips. "What are you doing?"
"Just enjoying the most perfect Christmas I've ever had." he sighed happily. "My family, my love, all in one place."
"This has been pretty amazing." you agreed. Josh swayed you gently to the beat of the music, humming softly in your ear. After a few moments, his mom called you both over into the living room and you and Josh got cuddled up amongst the family, enjoying the snowy night with the warmth of family.

every late november i am cursed with the knowledge that constantine hasn't done any sort of formal or informal holiday gathering since his sister died, and flat-out avoids people as soon as december starts so no one will invite him to anything bc he knows his seasonally bad mood will haunt whatever room he walks into. basically i'm saying this is your chance to ambush him while it's still november and harangue him into agreeing to attend your non-denominational ugly sweater parties or split a bottle of wine before he's cognizant enough to weasel out of it.

Ah yes, "many good strategies and excellent research! Unfortunately, you seem to lose focus after a while...". There might be a Pattern in the way I work. Perhaps.

it should be a crime to play that "so this is christmas" song Anywhere, especially super early in the morning in an airport where everyone is practically dead on their feet. one of the worst songs (not even christmas songs, just songs In General) ever made. like, way to bring the mood down. thanks for killing the vibe! unrelated, but i hate john lennon so much it's unreal.

(personal vent about my sack of shit father ruining christmas again)
me, my fathers only "daughter"/child:
helps my grandmother for weeks to prepare for his christmas party that neither of us wanted (he goes way over the top. invites his friends that are all loud drunks. cooks food we don't like. keeps the whole house up partying into the early hours of the morning. makes a mess and refuses to clean up after himself. doesn't spend time with us and instead hangs out with his friends, even for family holidays and events. etc.
me and my grandmother are disabled, constantly in pain/have stomach issues, and generally just want to be left on our own for holidays, so the whole event is just awful for us)
has been up since 6* in the morning, continuing to prepare for his party so he doesn't throw a hissy fit, running on only a few hours of sleep*, running around from store to store, cleaning, cooking, decoaring, etc.
spends hours trying to wake him up.
after doing everything I am capable of skill/strength wise, I took a two hour power nap before guests come.
helps serve dinner, makes drinks, fulfills every task my father gives me to maintain the delicate peace in the household, cause my grandmother wants to murder him*.
does all of this with no complaint.
my father:
promises his full and undivided attention and help the day before the party (this is the only day he's offered the slightest help outside of making a huge dinner no one but he and his friends wanted), he then breaks this promise, does nothing, delegates every task my grandmother has given him to me, and then leaves at 6 at night to go party, ignoring the amount of cooking he needs to finish.
doesn't come home for almost 12 hours (he came home at 6am), waking me up*, sleeps till 1, leaving me and my gradnmother do 90% of the things that needed to be done today (as his guests are coming at 4).
invites more friends than he originally told us about, ditching us after dinner (which we served) to go hang out outside and blast music so loud it shakes the house.
and then complains that I "slept all day" and "did nothing" so now I need to clean the whole kitchen and all the dishes of over 15 guests, not him, the reason there's such a mess to clean.
he continues to demand this even after something he cooks, knowing I hate it and it makes me feel ill, and stinks up the whole kitchen, making me go lie down because it made me nauseous and gave me a migraine.
I then get to spend the rest of my christmas eve cleaning, doing dishes, while barely holding back tears.
thanks dad, for ruining an already awful christmas, you fucking asshole.
