Platonic Sherlock Hc’s

It would’ve been a complete accident, you meeting Sherlock. It would’ve been through a mutual, or a case, or simple bad good luck. Either way you did something that Sherlock deemed a bit worthy of his attention.

Don’t get me wrong he didn’t like you. Sherlock still thought that you were stupid and a waste of his time, but you were entertaining and that fact had you keeping his interest.

Whatever it was Sherlock started pointing things out about you more, asking you questions, or your thoughts on a topic or case.

John likes you around so Sherlock will let you linger.

It takes some time for Sherlock to see you aren’t a waste of time or space. After he realizes this he’ll start actually listening to what you have to say and what you like.

It took you being in danger for Sherlock to understand that he cared about you. You were in, what John called, the “front lines”. You honestly did it to yourself (on purpose or not is up to you).

No matter what the situation was you ended up being hospitalized, let’s say during this time you were in a short coma. Sherlock flipped shit.

No one saw Sherlock’s outburst but John.

You are never told about Sherlock freaking out. You do, however, notice how he checks on you once you get out of the hospital. He also has you come around more often just so you’re there.

Now that you’re officially Sherlock’s friend you’re going to have so much stress fun!

You’ll talk about books you’ve read and make fun of his brother

You both will teach each other about the interests you both have.

If you're chill with dead bodies and severed body parts you can help with his experiments

You have to make him food or tea or coffee all the time. There is no escape from this fate, and if you don’t make it I’m pretty sure he’d starve (if john isn’t around)

Sherlock won’t hesitate to use you as a way to get his running thoughts out. This will lead to many sessions of you just sitting listening to him.

He is pretty blunt about a lot of things so if you’re doing something he thinks is stupid or dating someone he doesn’t think is right for you he WILL let you know. My man will even judge your outfit and makeup (if you wear makeup).

Sherlock is absolutely horrible at showing he cares, but if you see a random item or jewelry or stuffed animal or book or anything random just sitting in your home on your bed it is most definitely from him. Don’t confront him on it, he’ll panic.

He isn’t that comfortable with physical affection but if you show it slowly to more often he will get used to it or find it comforting and reciprocate as a sign he does in fact care for you.

This man isn’t easy to stay around but he tries as much as he can. He may claim not to feel but he does truly and deeply.

He doesn’t really understand nicknames so you can call him whatever just be prepared to justify it.

He calls you ‘Smartie’ because you’re sweet and sour like the candy and compared to the other short minded people around him you’re one of the smarter ones. He calls you ‘buddy’ because it’s a common nickname and you used it in your examples for some reason. Sherlock also sticks to ‘my dear y/n’ quite often.

He finds you absolutely adorable sometimes.

If you EVER need him he is there. You’re important to him, if you’re in trouble then you come before any case or family issues.

Give him a friendship bracelet and he will say it’s stupid you’re already friends why do you need bracelets to prove it and will toss it away. If you leave it there though he will pick it up and you’ll never see it again.(it’s in his pocket)

He couldn’t bear to lose you so please don’t give up on him or leave him. Show him you love him because he needs it. Sherlock will try his best for you so do him a favor and do the same

Queerbaiting sucks... but

I find it so affirming as a person who struggles with their romantic orientatation. I just live for that state of not quite friends/not quite lovers.

Like yes, they are partners, yes, they live and die for eachother, yes, every other relationship they have loses all meaning compared to them. But also no, they haven't kissed, and they don't want to kiss, and yet, somehow, every single word, every single glance, every single touch carries so much meaning and conveys so much love because this amount of platonic love is usually unheard of and they don't want the other to misunderstand. And I just- aaah, it gives me so much hope and reminds me that romantic love isn’t the only type of love worth experiencing and showing on screen/paper.

I do wish it was done intentionally and wasn’t just a product of homophobia and capitalism. Like I really, really hate the reason I get this representation. Like, it also leaves a somewhat sour taste in my mouth, because I can see that if the world was more accepting, it would probably be a romantic relationship.

(I sometimes see people calling queercoding queerbaiting, and just to make it clear, that isn't what i'm talking about)

I think that, perhaps, I don’t exactly view Holmes and Watson in any sort of romantic relationship, but instead a close queer friendship. They do not have a romantic interest in one another, yet they’ll comfortably sleep in the same bed or be physically affectionate and cuddle with one another. They are each other’s worlds, though only platonically. Watson is able to love his wife while also holding a tender affection for Holmes, his best friend. (and vise versa… minus the wife for Holmes). They feel comfortable around one another to be ‘non-conforming’ in heterosexual terms, yet they would never persue anything further. Instead they find comfort in the fact only the other can understand their own affections, and just how much it means to them both.

Idk tho maybe that’s just me projecting my own experience in my own close friendships with same sex friends as an unlabeled queer person
