Ok I got a few questions:-

How long have you been into lichenology?

Is it exclusively lichenology or do you study other things to (e.g. mycology, bryology)?

Are you studying lichens for school/work or just as a hobby at home?

I am fairly new to lichenology. It's been about 3 years since I took my first lichenology course and fell in love. But I have been studying ecology for, well, my whole life, but at an academic level for 11 years now.

My focus is actually on lichens and birds--2 very disparate entities, I know. But I started out as a bird biologist and was offered a project studying birds and lichens, so I took it. I focus on dispersal ecology, and am expanding my study into other fungi as well. And since I work in a lab in the botany department, I learn quite a bit about plants, bryophytes, and algae as well.

I am a PhD student studying lichen ecology, but I do a lot of my lichen study on the side because I love them, and because I am constantly playing catch-up with the folks in my lab who have been studying this stuff their entire academic career. And no no, thank you! I am not so much knowledgeable about my subject as knowledgeable about how to find out information on my subject, which is kinda the same thing but not. I worked in science education before going back to grad school, and very quickly realized I missed sharing cool science info with people, so I realized I could both learn more about my field of study and scratch my know-it-all-oversharing-on-their-current-hyperfocus-itch at the same time!

Meeting with my other codirector: did a meeting with another professor which I know I can trust 100% and he offered to help me with the new topic, so I think the best way for both would be to include him in the direction of the thesis. With that said, now I need to work with the thesis proposal again to have a lighthouse to guide me when I feel lost and I really hope this is going to be the right way to go.

Replay back to the degree student I am helping: one of the students I am in charge with, teaching him social conflicts theory did his exam a couple of days ago, seems like it went well and the question he was asked where issues we discussed and practise how to answer during the lessons so I am happy about it, feels like my job was well made, too.

Prepare tomorrow's meeting for my job: we have a meeting with the clients of the congress where I did not perform as well as I would like to. I know it has more to do with the way I feel, than with how the client so my work cause, above all they are happy about it and seems like they could be interested in doing more of this kind of jobs with us, which of course is something to be happy and proud about it. But there is still a report to do about the congress and, of course, that is something I need to finish before the end of the week.

About next week's congress: I will be changing country to attend the congress in the area of housing policies. To be honest, I am not sure what to expect about it, due to remote working and considering the research group is quite large and spread we haven't been seeing each other as much as I would like to. But these kinds of events are exactly for that, to see where we are and what's next. My concern? I have the fear to have tons of work to do after the congress, besides PhD which is going to be challenging.
