#perhaps a salary cut is due
Note
You're an awesome boss, and I admire you a lot. Can we grab a coffee sometime and see if there's more than just work chemistry between us?
Let me extinguish any flicker of hope you might harbor for a deeper connection. The notion of indulging in a coffee encounter to explore some "chemistry" beyond work is nothing short of absurd. I implore you to refocus your energies on fulfilling your professional duties instead of entertaining misguided fantasies.

Yandere! King pt.2

Pt.1
Even though you were never assigned to him Yandere! King couldn’t help but want to be by his side no matter what. You are the in-waiting for the queen, you’ve been with her for all her life and you adored her. She was strong willed and she was extremely intelligent. You’ve been by her side ever since you were young and have a tight bond with her. She was cold but you were happy to serve someone like her. Yandere! King was someone that people couldn’t be offended easily. When in his presence, everyone needed to watch their tongues if they wanted to keep it. He was a ruthless man who only cared about his own needs and goals. Even though he was married it was clear to see that the marriage was clearly political. There was no love between the two of them and they would almost daily cheat on each other. He sometimes even forgot that she existed. It was due to this loveless marriage that he became so interested in you.
Any normal person would be intimidated by this but you honestly didn’t care. If his attention would help you get a pay raise then let him stare at you all you want. In this economy, there was no way you were letting this money bag go. Something that you noticed about this man was that he was overly possessive and seemingly jealous of the things that he considered “his”. If he remotely took interest in something then it was his until he got bored and discards it. No one is dumb enough to stand in his way; he's cunning, backstabbing, and absolutely brutal. Morality means nothing when faced in his way.
Right now, your current situation was… strange. In a dining hall filled with luxurious food. There was a centerpiece in the middle of the table that no one could take their eyes off of.
“You’re majesty, please let me go! I repent, please forgive me for my sins! Please just don’t kill me!” The man screams with streams of tears pouring down his face. It was quite a pathetic sight to behold.
Yandere! King stared coldly at the man nailed down to the dining table. The look on his face could send shivers down anyone’s spine. He was absolutely pissed off right now. Aside from the man in the middle screaming, the room was filled with absolute silence as everyone held their breath. The tension in the air was thick enough to cut it with a knife.
“Your highness please have mercy on my husband! He didn’t mean to! He wasn’t in the right mind! Please forgive him!” The man’s wife begged.
“Listen to him scream like a pig. He touched someone who belonged to me. A sin like that is unforgivable.” Looking your way the king says in a menacing voice. “Tell me where he touched you.” Oh boy, you knew for sure that this was about to get very bloody. Man you really wanted to leave right now. All you could do was hope that he’d increase your salary pay after this for compensation for having to witness this. Like yeah it sucked that someone was going to die right now but there’s no way that you’re quitting. This job paid way too much and you were way too money hungry to quit.
“Tell me where did he touch you? I’ll make sure to gouge out the exact body parts to match.”
“My cheek, my neck, my waist, and my thigh”
Giving you a dismissive look, the king finally allows you to finally leave. On your way out all you could hear were the screams of the man and the sound of ripping flesh. Thank god that was over, it was starting to get annoying. Now you might be wondering where was the queen in all of this? Well, she was with her lover of course! Like I said, the king and queens marriage was only a political one. As long as they didn’t bother each other or get into the other's business, then they did not care about what the other did. It was just truly a loveless marriage.
Making your way towards the queen’s chambers you begin to perform your daily duties. Mindless tasks that bore you to death. The only reason your pay was so good was because of how fond Yandere! King is of you. Any other person in your position would only get a fraction of your wage. You were a bit thankful for this because if he ever deemed you as boring and fired you. You’d still have enough money to live a fairly decent lifestyle. Something that you’ve learned while working for the royal family was that it was always best to stay away from their personal affairs. It gets real ugly once an outsider ever decides to interfere. You honestly wished you knew this before your parents forced you to sign up for this job. Maybe it would have saved you from an annoying king?
Sometimes he’d hand you little trinkets to indulge yourself in. It seemed that he was quite fond of observing you and witnessing your reaction to new devices. With someone like him running the country most people would think that it’d be in ruins. However, he’s definitely smart and knows how to run a country. It’s thanks to him that his kingdom has one of the best economies in the world.
Even though you were primarily assigned to the queen you saw Yandere! King more than her. To you, he was an obnoxious and dangerous figure. One that can easily win wars and conquer any land he so desires. He is a very selfish man that has a habit of being physically and emotionally manipulative. To be honest you can’t say you were any better. Oftentimes you’d use people to your own benefit but he’d definitely take it to the extreme. The amount of people that he used and discarded was insane. Weakness is a word that seems to be out of his dictionary. You could never tell what exactly he was thinking, he was like an enigma. One thing you were certain about was that with the rate of his obsession he’d never leave you alone.

Why Deny?
Part 12

Eventually, they got around to actually focusing on work for a while. Leonard relayed to Y/N the conversation he’d heard at the bar during the party the other night, and that it seemed like, along with Simon Foster, there were a couple other people who weren’t happy with Charles Benton. It was possible that Charles was just a shared complaint they all had, but something told Leonard and Y/N that these people were also working with Foster in some way on whatever backwards shit he was involved in.
Did it involve Charles, and was he some kind of target? It was too soon to tell. However, additional information Leonard had got from Charles on his run back to Langley revealed that Foster had not only been declined a promotion, but that Benton had actually slightly demoted him due to less than satisfactory performance, and his salary had been cut quite a bit.
Leonard had asked Charles to also run the name of the guy who’d been talking to Foster and whose information he’d written down at the party. The guy was an employee at the U.S. Embassy in Venezuela, but his status was lower than Foster’s, and his record was completely clean. To add to the confusion, the piece of paper that Y/N had snatched off Foster contained nothing more than a series of numbers and letters. Obviously, it had to mean something, but they hadn’t yet figured out what.
“Do you think Charles is in any kind of danger?” Y/N asked Leonard as she handed him back one of the files he’d brought back with him from Langley. It was possible that whatever Foster was involved in had nothing to do with Charles whatsoever, but she was still concerned for the man who she viewed as somewhat of a fatherly figure.
Leonard smiled.
“He said he knew you’d be worried about him, and to tell you, ‘Relax, kid.’”
Y/N smiled back, shaking her head.
“They ran Foster’s computer the other day, and nothing pertaining to Benton came up,” Leonard continued, “so he didn’t want anymore attention focused on worrying about him when there’s no sign Foster’s targeting him.”
“That doesn’t mean anything, necessarily. He could just be really good at covering his tracks,” Y/N said.
“I know,” Leonard said. “But there’s nothing more we can do until we get back there on Thursday. Now that we have access to his computer, we can do our own research then. They haven’t found anything new on him since their original suspicions came up, but there’s definitely something going on.”
Y/N nodded in understanding as she stood up from the small sofa.
“Maybe it’s correct that Charles isn’t a target. And maybe whatever Foster was involved in has already wrapped up. Since they haven’t found anything new on him, perhaps it was just a one and done thing after he’d accessed whatever he kept visiting Records and Security for.”
“Possibly,” Leonard replied, also standing, “but even if that’s the case, we still need to find out what he was doing, and if those other guys were involved. And also what kind of information he might have shared, and with who.”
“Well, unfortunately, I don’t think I’m gonna be able to get anything else from him. He’s not going to talk to me anymore,” Y/N said as she looked at Leonard with a half smile. “I think you sank that ship when you hit him.”
“I don’t see any downside to that,” Leonard replied.
“Oh, really?” she said. “And did you tell Benton about your little brawl? Because he was expecting me to charm something out of Foster. What am I supposed to do now?”
“You got the paper from him,” Leonard replied, his face serious. “Benton knows about it; that’s enough.”
“Did you mention that you hit him?”
“I didn’t hit him,” Leonard replied, not even bothering to try to sound convincing. “He tripped.”
Y/N smiled knowingly as she moved and stopped in front of him.
“What exactly happened there, anyway? You never told me.”
“Nothing noteworthy,” Leonard replied, shaking his head.
“You punched him in the face,” Y/N countered.
“Long overdue,” he replied.
Y/N gave him a look, and had the intention to press further, but Leonard reached down and nudged her, placing his hand in the small of her back and guiding her towards the door.
“Let’s go; we’re going out to dinner,” he said.
“No, can’t,” she quickly replied, halting in front of him. “I’m busy.”
Leonard looked at her and raised an eyebrow as she turned around to face him, but then she gave him a coy smile.
“Oops, sorry,” she said, leaning in and giving him a quick peck on the lips. “Force of habit.”
————————————————
The next three days had them attending numerous lengthy meetings and presentations along with dozens of other CIA staff, one of which was Simon Foster. He made eye contact with them only once upon first seeing them, and then proceeded to keep his bruised face focused on his laptop for the remainder of the time. As they occasionally observed him, nothing he did roused any suspicion, but then again, they couldn’t expect much when they were in such an open environment.
But the open environment didn’t stop Leonard. Sitting next to each other during the first meeting, Y/N nearly jumped out of her chair when he slipped his hand onto her thigh beneath the table and glided it under her skirt to skim his fingers over her through her panties. He smiled to himself as he massaged her thigh, the question he’d always wondered about finally being answered — thigh-highs.
After she’d composed herself, Y/N had discreetly gripped Leonard’s hand under the table and shooed it away, but that didn’t stop him. Finally, she decided to teach him a lesson, and she slowly palmed him under the table for the last 10 minutes of the meeting. She laughed to herself when, as a result, he had to stay seated at the table for 5 minutes after the meeting had ended, and she winked at him as she exited the large room with the others while he remained at the conference table, pretending to be getting a call on his cell. At the next meeting, she intentionally sat herself away from him, to which Leonard gave her a look that made her heart skip a beat. They glanced at each other multiple times throughout the meeting, and when it finally ended for an hour-long lunch break, the two of them quickly walked back to the hotel and took the elevator up to their room, practically falling through the door as they raced to undress each other between kisses.
———————————————
“So how is this going to work, exactly, when we get back to Langley?” Y/N asked Leonard that night as he closed the laptop and rose from the desk.
“The same way it’s been working so far,” he replied as he walked over to the bed, removing his clothes and climbing into the bed beside her in his boxer briefs.
“Hardly,” Y/N replied, looking at him. “We can’t just be sneaking off, or having sex in your office every day at lunchtime.”
“Why not?” Leonard asked her with a devilish smile. “That was my plan.”
She rolled her eyes and shoved him.
“We have to be smart about this,” she said. “It doesn’t matter if it’s the CIA; it may as well be high school when it comes to gossip. You’re a superior, and I refuse to suddenly be labeled a ladder-climbing whore.”
Leonard pulled a face.
“That’s a bit extreme, don’t you think?”
Y/N took a deep breath.
“The point is, you’re untouchable. Frankly, all the guys will likely be giving you a pat on the back. It wouldn’t exactly work out the same for me.”
Leonard pulled her closer before answering.
“We can be as discreet as you want to be,” he said. “No one has to know anything.”
Y/N nodded briefly, and then a small smile appeared on her face.
“What?” Leonard asked.
“You know, the upside to this is that we already know everything about each other.”
“Not true,” Leonard replied, shaking his head. “I still have secrets.”
“Like what?” Y/N asked him with raised eyebrows.
“I hate country music,” he said.
She couldn’t stop laughing.
————————————————
Over the next month, they resumed work in essentially the same capacity as they had prior to the trip. Among other work they now had to resume, they continued to work together to monitor Foster. As Y/N predicted, he didn’t try to contact her again, and the piece of paper she’d gotten off him was currently still a mystery. They were awaiting additional information on Foster’s connection in Venezuela, and also were working with Benton to coordinate a time to send Foster away on some bullshit overnight trip so that they could search his apartment. They’d need to be sure he’d be gone somewhere where an unexpected return home wasn’t possible, and also so that they’d have enough time to be sure to leave everything exactly as they found it.
During the day-to-day, however, Y/N made an effort to be especially mindful of not spending more time around Leonard than necessary, and avoiding any contact that could be interpreted as intimate. It wasn’t easy, but she was determined not to let any rumors start. They’d been almost completely successful at staying away from each other during work, except for one afternoon in Leonard’s office, where what was supposed to be just a quick check-in on something turned into sex on his desk when he’d placed a kiss on the back of her neck after closing the office door.
“Never again,” Y/N had said to him as she’d tucked her blouse back in her skirt.
“Never say never,” Leonard replied with a triumphant and satisfied smirk as he re-did his tie. She’d glared at him and shoved him back down into his chair before leaving his office.
They spent every evening together, and pretty soon, Y/N was practically living at his place. It was an interesting experience for them both – Y/N because it was such a drastic change from just a month prior, when she’d been so determined to continue to resist Leonard despite how she felt about him, and Leonard because not only did he finally have her, but it was a lifestyle shift. Before Y/N had come along, he’d had casual relationships, if you could call them that, but they were brief and mostly just to scratch an itch, and he never gave any of those women consideration for something serious. Frankly, it wasn’t something that previously crossed his mind often at all. But with Y/N, he found that changing.
But another change was unknowingly coming.
A little over a month later, Leonard had had to travel for another commitment for work, and they’d been completely apart for a week. When they’d spoke on the phone a few times while he’d been away, he’d sensed something was off, but Y/N assured him everything was fine, other than that she was coming down with something. They’d messaged back and forth throughout, and when Leonard got to work the day after he’d returned, he looked for her, but she wasn’t in her office. Almost as if on cue, he received a message from her, and he pulled out his phone to read it.
Meet me in the meeting room on the 8th floor.
Leonard smiled to himself. It was a smaller conference room that was hardly ever used, and he was dying to get his hands on her. He made it up to the meeting room, but when he arrived, she wasn’t there yet. Standing in front of the floor to ceiling windows, he turned around when he heard the door open several moments later, Y/N entering and quietly closing the door behind her. She gave him a small smile, and he immediately walked over to her, pulling her against him and planting his lips on hers.
Y/N responded, wrapping her arms around his neck as she kissed him back, but quickly, she retracted, trying to speak as Leonard moved his mouth to her neck.
“I missed you, doll,” he said as he tried to slip his hand under her blouse.
“I missed you, too,” she replied quietly. But when Leonard had his hand on her bra clasp, she stopped him.
“Leonard, wait,” she said, grabbing his hand and pulling it down. He lifted his head from her neck to speak, quickly looking at her.
“No one’s going to see us,” he said before he resumed kissing her. But she leaned into him for only a moment before trying to push him away again.
“Leonard, wait. Stop. I need to tell you something.”
Leonard heard the tone in her voice, and he pulled his head away from her neck and looked at her, the tension in her body obvious. He furrowed his brow in concern.
“What’s wrong?” he asked.
Y/N took a deep breath, looking down at the floor and completely exhaling, then slowly raising her head again, looking at him for a moment before she finally spoke.
“I’m pregnant.”

Fic under cut. See AO3 for complete notes.
It wasn’t that Rodimus didn’t do any work on the Lost Light, no. It was more that the amount of administrative burden was… ridiculous. Often to the point where it could easily become overwhelming. While great strides had been made over the years in reducing the burden through various means—expanding the command staff, delegating some approvals to other, more appropriate units, taking a hands-off stance to some menial procedures, setting a daily messaging limit for Minimus, and otherwise streamlining workflows—there were often still mountains of things to review and approve. Never mind coming up with executive action plans.
Unfortunately, some things required Rodimus’s approval only, due to separation of duties on the ship.
Megatron, therefore, had to get creative to assist him in actually hacking away at the pile of things that couldn’t otherwise be delegated. He couldn’t remove some of the work, but he could remove some of the stress associated with it, making the task hopefully more bearable. Rodimus would even get a reward out of the whole thing.
It had taken some careful maneuvering and minor mass shifting to fit under the desk, but he’d done it, now wedged in the limited space available. These desks were not made with the intent that large mechs climbed under them.
“And you’re sure this is going to work?”
Rodimus’s chair was already pushed all the way in, his legs jammed against Megatron’s body. There was no way for him to see what would be going on under the desk, but he wouldn’t need to. If anything allowing him to see would pose more of a distraction.
“No,” Megatron said, keeping his hands on Rodimus’s knees, lest they slam shut on his head. Again. “That’s why this is a test.”
“I mean, sure, a test but even if it works, that doesn’t mean it’s going to pass an ethics audit.”
“Perhaps not, but you are working and I’m not on the clock, so we’re not wasting salary hours.”
And the backlog would, at any rate, be smaller if Rodimus managed to finish even one thing in that stack.
“There is, you realize, one crucial thing you need to do for this to work.”
Rodimus made a confused noise quickly followed by “oh.”
A panel retracted and a flaccid spike emerged from the housing. Not immediately useful but a problem. Still a step in the right direction.
Rodimus must have been nervous. A work situation wasn’t the usual time for this sort of activity, so perhaps it would take a little goading to get the plan in motion.
Then again, the goal was to relieve some of the stress of an overwhelming pile of paperwork by making Rodimus more comfortable, not necessarily actively pleasing him. A stiff spike would be convenient, but not necessarily required. Besides, it would react on its own before long.
With an easy lean forward, he took the head into his mouth. The taste was familiar, but clean. Thankfully someone had decided to take hygiene into account before showing up to the office today. There was even the faint, pleasant fragrance of mid-grade polish wafting from the thighs.
Already the internal pressure was rising, but for now he just held the spike this way. There was no need to rush and he was fulfilling his end of the agreement.
All he had to do was keep the spike warm until Rodimus either gave up or made headway in the stack on his desk. Anything else he chose to do was extra.
Strictly, he wasn’t even obligated to give Rodimus release at the end if he didn’t feel like it.
Rodimus shifted, leaning back in the chair and sighing.
If he wanted to get too comfortable there and do nothing, that was his business, but Megatron wouldn’t move. He could stay here, unmoving, with the head of a spike in his mouth for as long as necessary.
The spike continued to stiffen, pushing more into his mouth. Megatron simply leaned back to keep it at the same depth. For the moment, he ignored the tension building behind his own paneling.
There was a whine, followed by a clattering of datapads above him as Rodimus clearly remembered what was supposed to be happening.
He could hear the scrabbling of a light-pen across the surface of the forms. The pace was slow, like Rodimus was already leaning against his elbow, frowning at the poorly formatted blocks of text. The way the paperwork was organized was not always easy or comfortable to parse, especially under time pressure.
Megatron lightly flicked his tongue over the newly dripping slit in the head of the spike as encouragement. Just to ease the tension, not enough to be an additional distraction… ideally. If Rodimus was less stressed, his work would hopefully be less arduous.
Another sigh and more scrabbling.
Was this even helpful?
Hard to say.
He let the spike sink deeper into his mouth, about halfway. It slipped easily along his tongue before being allowed to rest squarely in the middle, a comfortable weight.
The warm pulsing between his own legs grew, a new distraction as he was tempted to simply let the spike reach all the way to his throat. Denying himself that was an act of discipline.
Unfortunately, with his mouth understandably full, Megatron was unable to ask Rodimus for feedback. Instead, he gave the spike a quick, gentle suck, as though that counted as posing a general question.
Rodimus groaned, but whether it was from frustration or pleasure or both was unclear without being able to see his face.
“Are you teasing me or helping me?”
At this point, probably a bit of both.
But, so be it.
If Rodimus didn’t want him to move, then he wouldn’t. There were other ways to keep busy while he waited for Rodimus to either give up or complete his tasks.
Megatron himself wasn’t on duty and the tension in his own array could have stood to be dissipated.
He let one of his hands leave Rodimus’s knees, sliding it down to where his own legs joined his trunk.
A panel clicked open beneath his finger and he pressed the tip against the swollen, rubbery node. It wasn’t lubricated yet—though he would shortly remedy this—but he allowed himself to poke and press gently, not quite circling it while still ensuring it was ready for more robust personal attention.
Inconsistent little blooms of weak pleasure popped across his circuits as he brushed against the dry node.
Rodimus probably hadn’t even heard his panel open over the mad writing spree on the desk above. The clattering of datapads and frustrated grumbles dominated the soundscape.
If Megatron were careful, there wouldn’t be any noise at all to catch Rodimus’s attention while he sought his own relief. Not that it would matter if Rodimus noticed or not—No, on second thought, that would probably be a greater distraction to his ability to focus than anything else.
Best to be discreet.
Keeping his head still, he let a finger slip backward between his legs, towards his valve to steal some of the escaping lubrication. He coated his finger in just enough to allow the tip an easy glide over his node. This, with the smaller motions and more localized fluid spatter, would be a far less disruptive avenue than what using his own spike would be.
For now, he just circled the node in slow, lazy motions. He had all the time in the world for this while Rodimus scrambled to get work done.
The spike in his mouth twitched, leaking a tiny volume of saline prefluid onto his tongue. He didn’t care for that particular flavor but it a tolerable necessity, easily overcome by everything else.
On instinct, he gave the spike another light suck, only for Rodimus’s legs to shake.
Megatron still wasn’t sure if this was actually helping Rodimus accomplish anything or if the chosen method of stress relief was actually getting in the way of the goal. The writing and complaining were the only tells that anything was happening up there. Would the reports being reviewed even be looked at critically or would they need another eye?
Of course, given the situation, he said nothing, as his frame relaxed, coaxed by the idle rub of his slick finger against his node.
No need to rush. Rodimus’s spike wouldn’t be going anywhere for some time, even as it wobbled and dripped in want.
Rodimus surely had no idea that he was the only one suffering, unable to hear even the small, soft noises of the lubricant’s surface tension occasionally breaking as the finger moved.
A calm pace was the key to remaining undetected. Being unhurried also allowed him to thoroughly massage every side of his node, including the small places that generally went overlooked when only seeking overload, like the almost hidden shaft under the hood. No part would be ignored while he let the charge gradually build.
His empty valve began to tense as the prickling tingle of charge grew in his node; it wouldn’t be long now. It was almost a shame that he couldn’t have warmed the spike in there instead but the positioning would never have worked… and Rodimus would have undoubtedly begun to notice by now what he was doing. For now, he just let the weight of the spike rest comfortably on his tongue.
Every now and then, Rodimus even canted his hips forward like he was trying to get relief, but Megatron just matched the motion to keep the friction minimal.
The only real stimulation for Rodimus probably came from the flexing of Megatron’s cheeks when he had to occasionally swallow down the build up of prefluid in his mouth.
Even the slightest slide of the interlocking metal plates across the sensors in his mouth sent charge straight south, adding to what was generated by the easy motion of his fingertip.
Lubricant, cooling as it met the brisk office air, flowed away slowly down the sides of his legs.
No, not long now at all.
There would be no way to hide what he had been doing after he and Rodimus were done here, but that would be alright. The worst that would happen would probably be Rodimus accusing him, rightfully so this time, of being selfish. And then Megatron would make it up to him, perhaps in private quarters and—
He tensed, trying, somewhat in vain, to prevent the spasms of overload from obviously shuddering his body under the desk. His legs shook, but he managed to keep his upper body steady. It took all of his will to not force the spike further back towards his throat and swallow hard.
The most damning evidence if Rodimus was paying attention was the soft gasp that escaped his mouth, muffled by the spike, as his finger‘s rubbing of his node slowed to a stop.
For several seconds after the wave of overload ebbed, his valve continued to clench in time to the weak, twitching pulses of the oversensitive node pressed under his finger.
Rodimus said nothing, the continued clattering of the datapads implying that perhaps he hadn’t noticed. He hadn’t even attempted to thrust into Megatron’s mouth in response.
Megatron almost wondered if he was actually getting anything done up there or if he was just making noises to sound like something was being accomplished.
For now, he continued to wait for a few minutes. He knelt in place as the lubricant on his thighs and the outside of his valve began to congeal, turning sticky while he allowed his node to recuperate.
As soon as the pressure from his fingertip no longer caused his node to twitch almost painfully away, he resumed circling it slowly. The old lubricant was still sticky, less useful for its original purpose after being allowed to dry out but fresher lubricant would soon replace it. Charge began to build again and Megatron dipped his fingertip just into his valve to replenish his stock.
His valve twitched again at the touch, a reminder that it too wanted attention.
Later, he reasoned, returning his finger to its smooth, steady pace over his thrumming node.
Rodimus thrust forward in frustration again, his range limited by his posture.
After another few minutes elapsed, with Rodimus’s behavior above him not changing, ideas for how to make this a little more interesting popped into Megatron’s processor alongside the simmering charge in his circuits.
While, of course, he could continue to overload as much as he wanted from discreetly massaging his node until Rodimus was finished with his paperwork, surely that wasn’t all he could do.
Emboldened by his earlier victory, he tilted his head forward, gradually sliding Rodimus’s spike further towards the back of his mouth, nestling the rounded tip against the membrane leading to his throat.
Rodimus whined, but didn’t say anything else.
Tempting fate, Megatron let his hand leave his node, instead slipping two fingers downward until the tips pressed against the rim of his valve.
Just how much could he get away with before Rodimus caught on?
Another soft gasp left his lips as he leisurely pressed those fingers inside. If he went slowly, surely it wouldn’t make a sound.
Once fully inside, Megatron rested there a moment, enjoying the pressure as he let his valve clench around the small intrusion. A spike would be preferable, reaching more deeply and spreading more widely, but fingers, inserted up to the furthest knuckle, would do nicely in a pinch. He even brushed the thumb of that hand against his node.
Everything from here on out would have to be perfect. The slightest misstep in motion could make an unmistakable sound, giving the game away.
He flexed his hand, carefully testing how much he could easily move before slowly withdrawing it, a tingle of pleasure of the clenching valve walls in the fingers’ wake.
Without thinking, he thrust them back in as the spike threatened to slip past the membrane in his throat.
The resulting loud squelch was audible from under the desk.
The clattering stopped and Megatron froze, fingers buried deep in his valve as he was caught in the act.
“I knew it!”

Headcanon: Due to his dual roles, Ironwood is technically entitled to two incomes, those being his pay as general and as headmaster. As he doesn’t see much use for having that much money, he donates his headmaster’s pay in its entirety to charity. I think a foundation for supporting disabled veterans would fit him nicely, or perhaps privately funding Pietro’s cybernetics clinic.
That headcannon makes so much sense and I love the idea that he uses his second salary to help with Pietros clinic to try and assist the people where he can.
Just to add a little angst what if Pietro doesn’t know James is doing this and he overhears Pietro one day grumbling about how unfair it is James has two salaries with the council cutting the budget for projects for Mantel. Later on Penny finds out that it is James who donates so much to the clinic and he begs her not to tell anyone.
Idk where I was going with this besides being in an angsty mood today whoops. But back to the ask I love this headcannon so much it’s so sweet and so reflect for James.

Negotiating a Compensation Offer
Congratulations! You've landed a job and now it's time to talk compensation.
It's daunting at first, but learning to negotiate a compensation offer has been one of the most useful life skills I've acquired thus far. Note that the below tips are based off of my own personal experiences (U.S.-based, white-collar jobs).
Understanding Your Negotiation Power
You need to do some prepwork before you go into any compensation negotiation in order to come out successful, the first being to understand your negotiation power and the second being to set a goal for your compensation. I'll be speaking to monetary compensation in the next bit but scroll down to see what else is on the table for negotiation.
So more likely than not, compensation discussion happens prior to you even getting an offer. Recruiters and hiring managers may bring up monetary expectations in the initial screening to ensure you're on the same page.
Understand Your Negotiation Power: Your negotiation power will be based on a variety of factors that can either strengthen or weaken your case. If you already have a position, you have a competing offer, you excel in the core skills, or you have a good amount of experience - you have more negotiating power. If you are in between jobs, you're still developing your skills, or you lack experience, you have less negotiating power. How many applicants does the position have? Is it a known and popular company? (If you only have 2 years of software engineering experience, you cannot ask for a salary befitting someone with 10 years of experience. Be realistic.)
Set a Goal for Your Compensation: This goal will be a very personal decision based on what you deem your negotiation power to be, given the above. You will also need to take it upon yourself to do the necessary research on the average compensation in the specific location and this specific company to understand what to ask for. Glassdoor is the most popular resource for this but do your full due diligence in researching. Once you reach that decision...my recommendation is to negotiate for higher.
Negotiating
Remember that you have something to bring to the table and that it's a two-player game. When you're at the beginning of your career, it may seem like you need to take the first offer, but you may have more bargaining power than you think - just remember the notes on negotiation power above. Remember that they chose you out of all the candidates, and they want you. Use that to your advantage but don't go crazy.
When you have decided on your realistic compensation goal, negotiate for higher. For example, if I wanted $70k, I would ask for $75k. They might not be able to do $75k but perhaps they can do $72k. (They might even be able to do $75k but you won't know until you ask!). The idea is to see if there's any flexibility in the offer window. However, keep in mind that when you ask for a higher offer, you will need to back up why you deserve that offer. In order to do so, bring up your accomplishments, skills, and experiences. Don't be too aggressive, but be clear in what you want. Some companies have a clear cut ceiling for compensation - you will have significantly less negotiation power in these cases.
Useful phrases:
"I want to know if there's any flexibility in the compensation window."
"I am currently entertaining offers around $120k or higher given the strength of my specific skillset and experience. Are you able to meet this?"
"Are you able to share the compensation window for this position?"
And finally, don't forget about presentation. Speak with confidence and calm. The worst they can say is no.
Other Things to Negotiate Aside from Monetary Compensation
Start Date: I generally ask for a couple of weeks in between jobs just to unwind and take some time off for myself. Up to you, but know that this is on the table.
Relocation Fees: Moving for the job? Ask if this option is available. Moving is expensive and having your relocation fees covered sweetens the deal considerably.
Signing Bonus: One-time signing bonus for if you decide to accept the position. I've successfully negotiated a hefty signing bonus using a competing offer from another company as leverage. The other company offered more $$$, and I requested a signing bonus to match the discrepancy.
Work Model: In this current day and age, the fully remote WFH model has never been more popular. Many companies are having troubling retaining talent that are only entertaining fully remote offers. Understand the environment you want to work in to assess whether or not this is worth negotiating for.
Stock Options: Speaks for itself, but be realistic.
Other Tips:
Remember that salaries differ significantly by location.
Interview for more than one place at a time. I like to let companies know I am interviewing for other places so that they move faster. In the event that I get an offer, I use it as leverage against the competing company to get a stronger offer.
It gets easier over time. The first time negotiating will be super scary but the more experience under your belt, the more confidence you will have in yourself.
Happy negotiating!

Inuyasha Bingo Bonanza Week 1: It should not be that bad (Shizu/Tsukuyomaru)
Note: So this is a rough idea I wanted to play based on @writing-challenges-and-prompts idea which I saw these three ideas (a streetwise demon hunter in need of money, hold on to your pumpkin spice latte, marriage is all about compromise), which I wanted to write these two again, which is very very fun. Mind the rustiness, as I am working it as a wind-down piece.
The prompts I used are: Indulge, Responsibility and Miasma
Thank you mods for @feudalconnection and @inu-mothership to run this super super fun event for us 🥺🥺🥺🥺
Tsukuyomaru sighed a little, as he wore his usual sunglasses to the usual cafe, only recalling Shizu’s words in his brain. “One venti pumpkin spice latte please.”
Aye. One venti pumpkin latte.
That should not be that bad.
‘Your name…”
Tsukuyomaru gave a facepalm. “Ohhh…ummm….Tsuki…” Shit that is a stupid name, Shizu. Tsukyomaru tried his ass not to laugh at that name, as the barista indifferently repeated his name.
“Just a moment” to hear the steam echoing in his ears, gave him a sigh of relief.
I can do this shit….
It should not be bad.
That bad, referring to that situation that his high school sweetheart turned beloved wife of his, Shizu is actually a demon hunter who have to answer to the humans that she killed a perilous being, only hiding him with all of the amulets that Shizu stuffed in his already heavy coat to prevent the humans to feel his yoki.
I supposed love is about compromise….Tsukuyomaru quietly waited at the side, indulging in that thought that someday there would be a free day where he could simply roam around, without worrying that his aura could be pressed down by another demon hunter in disguise, or perhaps a hapless kid who has the wits to actually kick him by the shin, resulting in a rueful giggle in his mouth. For now the pumpkin spice latte is that obstacle to deal with, despite that she is strapped of money due to her bosses being  jackasses to his wife, which he wished to clobbered them with his fists.
Tsukuyomaru’s miasma is indeed growing heavier than ever in the otherwise tranquil coffee shops, glancing at the aura of an overly dressed customer coming in, leaving a gush of wind, and trails of ink in his feet.
The voice of that customer caused shivers in Tsukuyomaru’s body. “One venti…..” The way how that customer drawl the word ‘Venti’ as if he tried to cough out a stuck phlegm in his throat, and the barista trying her hardest to stay calm.  “Mhmm….”
Tsukuyomaru wish that Shizu would be here right now, saving that poor gal, instead of being stuck in that office.  He forced himself to squeeze the fleshy tendon to prevent his yoki from screaming in his ears. He must be responsible for Shizu’s sake, she staked her salary to keep his love.
And strangely Tsukuyomaru found that pumpkin spice latte cup gone from the counter. Wait the barista should call my name, and his eyes trailed upon a young lady wearing a simple white t-shirt, dark jeans and crimson sneakers jumping to the scene, with a small blade to cut that customer’s throat , and another hand holding that pumpkin spice latte, sipping it to sustain that energy.
And Tsukuyomaru knew that yoki so well, it is Shizu, and she was quick. Shizu gave a cool smile. “I wonder why my order took so long….” , as she stretched her leg to punch his face, and toss some tips to the startled barista. “You know you forget that I wanted a caramel muffin….to go alongside with it, but this…”
“I will let it pass, can you help me get the body please, I think you should get that indulgence to bring his corspe away…”
Shizu gleefully killed that youkai, only tossing a makeshift smoke bomb to make the customers confused. Tsukuyomaru raised an eyebrow on Shizu’s confidence. “I got a favour from another hunter, like a good one-since I save his ass by detecting a miasma in the bathroom- his aunt offer the best muffins as thanks….perhaps should we pay them a visit?”
Tsukuyomaru strangely nodded at that request. Perhaps his responsibility paid off with some sweet alone time with Shizu, when not bogged down with duties of being a streetwise demon hunter.
It is perhaps more worth it than the money itself

“I think one think you’re forgetting is profitability. A show doesn’t have to necessarily have the best ratings, as long as it costs less than it makes. Thus, a less expensive but lower rated show could perform as well as a higher rated show, but that’s more expensive. Walker has a very tight budget. Rich talked about this in a KOC podcast. So it really just depends on how well it does. Walker and Windy also have the benefit of not being under the WB. But all have to perform well.”
I can’t tell when this comment was made and if it was made before or after my post on the expected budgets. I would love to get more thoughts and opinions about these issues from y’all, especially since we don’t have the actual numbers in front of us.
I also think that, once we actually get to watch the shows, then we’ll have a better idea of budgets.
One of the reasons that Supernatural survived as long as it did was because Bob Singer kept the budget down low. They had in house post production and developed techniques like the Poor Man’s Process for driving scenes that cut costs way down.
People complain about Supernatural’s monsters looking worse as time went on and a lot of that was budget related. Since Supernatural already had the audience, people didn’t mind that the monsters looked fake/cheesy the way they would if it was a new show.
Yes, Walker has a tight budget and a family drama is typically way less expensive than fantasy/scifi/horror, but they also have Jared. They likely spend less on Jared compared to what Supernatural spent - Jared has a house in town and they don’t need to pay for his plane tickets to and from Austin. There’s also rumors that Jared takes a smaller salary in order to retain rights that increase his overall income. I doubt Jared’s Walker costars earn nearly as much as Jensen, but the supporting cast of characters is much bigger on Walker than on Supernatural/TW.
When you look at the cast of Walker next to the cast of TW or Gotham Knights, I feel that there’s no way TW or Gotham Knights spends more on their cast than Walker. Windy also has some big names like Mark S and the cast seems to be doing more on social media. Not sure what that means.
Perhaps the TW Pilot doesn’t show the quality of the work for the rest of the series, but it looks cheesy/inexpensive. So yes, everything else being equal, Walker would be less expensive than TW or Gotham Knights to shoot based on genre, however the actors salary is a huge part of the expense of the show. Based on the look of the TW and Windy Pilots, I’d be very surprised if TW spent as much money.
With WB going the way it’s going, I wouldn’t be surprised if CBS and WB also have different calculations that they use to measure the value of a show.
Anon 2(?)
I previously thought GK had a really great chance as DC meets Riverdale. Throw Misha in to stabilize the SPN audience who might not get fed by TW or WI. But DC is now in such disarray, I'm no longer sure. People are just plain mad and might take it out on that series without cause. They did go to ATL to save costsBut they met Misha's salary ask, so there's that much at least.
Previously, I would’ve thought all shows had a good chance, but especially Gotham Knights, with experienced producers and CW’s reputation of renewing unless the show is falling off a cliff.
Misha’s salary is likely high, but he’s also not a lead, and they don’t have J2, so they’ll probably save money over Supernatural’s salary. GK can go different ways depending on the tone of the show. That’s why I feel like I have to see it before guesstimating budget. It could lean into the fantasy or it could lean into the relationships between the cast members.
Mergers are famous for killing shows; Supernatural almost died an early death due to a merger. Being killed in a merger doesn’t mean that the show didn’t have potential or worth. Had Supernatural been killed due to early their merger, we wouldn’t be here.

Dear TDW,
Tumblr media
I’ll admit that I might’ve lost my composure due to the entirety of the situation.

However, I didn’t cut his salary and I did hear him out before taking any action. Perhaps, I am a bit harsh but I always try to be fair in any situation.

"Within a few days after Mr. Brown took over the administration of the prison, he sent for me, and we had a long talk. I was greatly impressed with his intelligence and his sense of justice. He asked me to tell him confidentially everything I could pertaining to the prison.
I told him, without mincing words, many of the facts and details enumerated in previous chapters. When we got through with that talk I think Mr. Brown knew enough about the hidden evils and vicious practices in that prison to send a score of men behind the bars.
The new governor had made a personal visit to the penitentiary after his election, and apparently saw that there was abundant room for improvement. I learned that he had assured Mr. Brown that he would stand back of him in any reform movement he might deem necessary and proper to undertake, and would back him up with all the authority at the command of the chief executive. Perhaps no previous warden had such unlimited backing, nor such a splendid opportunity to set things right.
If ever a new broom swept clean it did so in this instance. Within a few days it was being whispered among the guards and trusties that the walls had ears, and that the new warden, in some mysterious way, could see and hear everything that was going on.
With the information I had given him, including the names of some of the leading culprits, and with the aid of his own checks and investigations, he soon began to make the fur fly.
Within a short time after his arrival he learned that many of the guards were making more money on the side from graft and extortion than their salaries amounted to.’ He learned that most of the brutal punishments, the impossible tasks, and the floggings and whippings of prisoners, were part of the system set up by the “organization” to carry on their nefarious scheme of intimidating and robbing the convicts. He learned that a large portion, and the choicest cuts, of the 1200 pounds of beef, which was allotted weekly to feed the prisoners, was being carried away in baskets and dinner pails by the seventy-five guards to feed their own families.
When these and many other evils were discovered and proved to his own satisfaction, it did not take the warden long to apply the axe. Nearly a score of the crooked guards, who had been preying on helpless human beings, lost their official heads. Some half dozen were discharged for stealing blankets and other equipment. This drastic action served as a wholesome lesson to the old guards who remained.
Other improvements followed in due course. The fight to exterminate the bedbugs, the cockroaches, the mice and the rats, was redoubled, and resulted in the total annihilation of these vermin and pests.
The sanitary conditions were greatly improved. The paint which had covered the prison windows was ordered removed so that the sun might have a chance to shine into the prison cells, dry up the dampness, and purify the air. Sick prisoners were treated with greater care and humanity, and were not compelled to labor while too ill to stand.
Food of better quality and greater variety was served. Most of the graft having been removed from the workshops, the impossible tasks were eliminated, the men were able to accomplish the work assigned to them, and, consequently, performed their tasks more cheerfully and with greater ease. One of the advance steps taken, which indeed marked a milestone in the abolition of brutality in this prison, was the elimination of the whipping post. The order to cease the floggings was hailed with joy by hundreds of men who had become beaten slaves in a land of liberty and justice. Harry Howard was the last man to’be flogged in the West Virginia Penitentiary." - Earl Ellicott Dudding, The Trail of the Dead Years. Edited by William Winfred Smith. Huntington, West Virginia: Prisoners Relief Society, 1932. p. 107-108.

Tips to Help You with Your Next Tree Service in Los Angeles
It would help if you kept in mind that you would employ individuals to work in your yard while searching for tree service in Los Angeles. You may be hiring them to cut down a gorgeous shade tree that you’ve gotten connected to, but because they’re the ones dealing with the trees, you need to pick someone who comes with a good recommendation. When you ask your friends or family for suggestions, be sure to inquire about the responsiveness and professionalism of the businesses they recommend. Do not contact that business if you have heard any horror tales about employees who were impolite or late for appointments.
Check Your Insurance Policy
Los Angeles residents thinking about scheduling a tree service for the next year may be startled to hear that annual visits aren’t required. This is because many plans have a cap on the total amount you may collect for any tree. Some services will refund you for the full value of the tree, while others may only pay you half. Get in touch with your insurance provider to learn your policy’s coverage specifics.
Call another firm and ask the same questions if the first one’s responses are ambiguous or if you need to know the answer. Review their claims with the information provided by your existing employer. Address any inconsistencies with your insurance company to see if they will make changes. One never knows when the time may come to submit a claim; having this information on hand will be invaluable.
Know Your Tree Before You Hire a Tree Service in Los Angeles
There is a lot to consider before picking up the phone and dialing the number of a tree service in Los Angeles when you need a tree cut. It’s important to get a thorough understanding of the tree’s condition, not simply its species, before committing to a service. Is this tree so young that it just reaches your waist? A much larger and more ancient one? Palm tree, perhaps? Is something related to pine trees? For example, if you have a Japanese maple or an oak in your yard, you need to take extra precautions to protect them from harm, so knowing what kind of tree you have is crucial.
Check the health of your tree next. Are there generally positive signs of health? Is it more prone to injury in certain places than others (maybe due to frail limbs)? The professionals who arrive to give you an estimate will be able to identify by looking at the tree and whether or not it is healthy enough to withstand the treatment without causing any damage.
Understand What’s Worth Saving and What Isn’t
In Los Angeles, if you require a tree service in Los Angeles, it’s probably because your tree is sick or injured. You probably already know that you need to have it cut down since it is either leaning and poses a threat to your home or vehicle, has been struck by lightning and is split and rotting at the top, or has just grown too tall and thick for you to handle on your own safely.
So, the question is: what should it be? Whether or not to remove a tree from a landscape is seldom as straightforward as “is the tree worth saving?” You may make a better choice with more knowledge about the tree and its condition. One of the most crucial roles of trees is their involvement in stabilizing soil, which they do by giving shade, collecting carbon dioxide and releasing oxygen, and protecting us from erosion. By keeping dirt in place with their roots, they help avoid landslides.
Consider How Much You’ll Spend When You Hire a Tree Trimmer
The other consideration in setting a fair price for tree service in Los Angeles is covering your and your staff’s salaries. Think about how much of the company’s income will be used for salaries. Think about the hidden expenses of recruiting workers and running a firm, such as insurance and licenses. Include in the costs of running your company the pricing you set for your tree service. Supply costs, equipment costs, tax costs, and advertising costs will all add up to a hefty monthly expense. Also, think about how probable you will need to invest in new staff shortly. A high enough fee for your service should allow for these contingencies.
Contact us today at (818) 351-1401 for more information. When you need yard work, tree service, and lawn maintenance in Los Angeles, call Castillo Landscaping and Tree Services. We can help you with all your needs from start to finish, from tree trimming to tree removal, if you have any questions or concerns. You’ll be glad you called us for all your tree services in Los Angeles.

Finding a Job During a Recession: 3 Challenges You’ll Face
Finding a job during a recession can be challenging and stressful. As the market gets tighter, it is pretty common for businesses to limit hiring, cut staff, or carry out massive redundancies. Therefore, the number of jobs in the market reduces while job seekers increase.
Such a situation can be pretty tense for jobseekers because it will create unique challenges when finding and securing employment. That said, all is not lost. A recession-proof resume and resilience in adversity can help you land your dream job. Here are some challenges you might face when finding a job during a recession.
A Limited Market
One of the main challenges you’ll face when finding a job is that you’d be dealing with a tough market with limited job opportunities. Therefore, you’d need to be very tactful when finding a job. A compelling resume and a persuasive cover letter are essential to navigating limited options.
Make sure that your resume is tailored for every job you’re applying for, and it should be structured and created in a way that passes any resume screening software. Include relevant keywords and phrases from the description which compel the recruiter to read your resume.
Tough Competition
As mentioned, the number of people vying for the same job will increase considerably during a recession. You’d be facing tough competition, and in such situations, you should be articulating your skills, knowledge, and experience to stand out from the crowd.
Soft skills can come in handy here as employers may choose from a pool of candidates with similar hard skills. For example, teamwork, resiliency, adaptability, and effective communication are key soft skills employers might look for during recessionary hiring. If you can portray these skills with real-life examples, you’ll be sitting near the top of the resume pile!
Uncertainty
Perhaps the biggest challenge you’ll face when finding a job during a recession is the uncertainty that comes with it. You might only find temporary or part-time work because companies might have budget constraints on hiring full-time employees. You might be offered a lower salary due to the inflationary pressures and the overall economic squeeze.
You might experience frustration, disappointment, and agitation during the job search. The key is to remain patient and keep persisting in applying for jobs. Searching for employment is full-time, so you need to treat it like a marathon rather than a sprint.
Hire Professional Resume Writing Services
A compelling resume is your passport to success, even during a recession. A well-crafted resume can persuade a recruiter to pick up the phone and give you a call to learn more about you.
Therefore, you should always consider hiring online resume writing services to curate a compelling resume. Resu Consulting is one of the best in providing quality and affordable resume writing services in VA.

4 scenarios when your organization should turn to staff augmentation
Staff augmentation is ideal when your organization is going through the following scenarios.
Over the past decade, staff augmentation solutions have progressively become critical to organizations worldwide. The idea behind that is simple: With the increasing requirement for adopting new technologies to run a business, organizations operating across various industries seek talent to assist them. Apparently, there is a growing scarcity of eligible talents; thus, businesses are wrestling over the same professionals. This is when staff augmentation solutions come in handy.
Staff augmentation is an outsourcing model that could soon fill any resource gap. Staff augmentation services companies source professionals required from different states and cities, which is why they usually have experts onboard to meet any business requirement at any given time.
The following are the scenarios when your organization should turn to staff augmentation solutions:
When you look to scale your team quickly
Your in-house tech team won't always be able to deal with all the incoming workload. You may experience fast growth, hence meeting the rising demands on time could be challenging. You are perhaps dealing with intricate projects that are simply adding to your backlog. Or, you may be busy making transitions within the organization that leaves you with a very limited number of talent than usual. Whether you need to scale up your business, staff augmentation solutions can make things efficient and successful for you.
When you fail to find a specific set of skills that fit job requirements
There are several types of projects that require a specific set of skills. This is especially true for the types of projects that engage cutting-edge technology, for example, blockchain, artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, or cloud computing. Unfortunately, finding, screening, and evaluating those skills often seem challenging due to the human resource team's lack of time and technical support. Furthermore, not many specialists are available to be recruited with the required set of skills; hence, every employer tends to obsess over the few available.
When you look forward to reducing the costs
Recruiting local talents often costs the company higher a little. You invest a lot of time and intellect in finding suitable professionals, offer competitive salaries to outplay competitors looking into hiring the same talent, and invest more in infrastructure and perks. A staff augmentation services company will take the load off your shoulders and find you the right candidate under a more competitive budget.
When you plan on taking your team to the next level
You might not need new professionals, as your in-house team is well-equipped to handle your current workload and has the skillset needed for your current project. staff augmentation solutions  yet can serve you in this scenario. Adding new professionals to the team always offers a fresh host of benefits that could take your team to the next level.
