Big girl gifts and big girl rooms.
The first gifts
Isabela and Dolores are excited to finally get their very own big girl rooms. Both girls had been in the nursery with Luisa who was only a toddler at the time and sometimes didn't understand what Isabela and Lola were doing.
Plus both girls started school in September just after their fifth birthday. They deserved their own room to play and sleep.
Bruno came home the weekend before isabela's birthday and had the month off and could celebrate with his sobrinas. Bruno drove large forty foot supply trucks across the country. This meant he had a sleeper truck and hardly ever came home. He usually made an appearance for birthdays and holidays. Sometimes it wasn't plausible but he tried his best not to miss too much.
Pepa was working on starting a small business between her job as a waitress in the most popular restaurant in town, and being a mom to her daughter and an aunt to her nieces. Julieta was running a small catering business out of their home kitchen which so far had made excellent money. She was always left with large tips for excellent work. Agustin was a carpenter and Felix worked at his brother's outdoor company, usually installing pools and mowing lawns, it made good money so he couldn't complain and Pepa certainly want complaining when her man came home from work all sweaty and hot. She found the sweaty hardworking man attractive usually joining him in the shower before dinner.
The day of Isabela's birthday came and they kept it small, family only. She was showered with love and treated to new toys and dress up costumes. She had her favorite cake, red velvet with chocolate mousse, and she got her bedroom. The door glowing just like the triplets' had five years prior.
"go ahead sweetheart, it's ok." Julieta encouraged
As soon as Isabela touched the doorknob the door glowed and engraved itself with a floral design. Brunos eyes glowed green and yet another message tablet from their father.
"what does the tablet say?" Pepa asked curious to see what their father had to say about Isabela.
"it says, 'to my first born granddaughter, you may not know me but I know you. A beautiful little girl waiting to blossom into amazing things as she grows and learns. Isabela I grant you the gift to help grow plants by simply touching them, and the ability to make blossoms appear in your hands. May you use this gift to help the people you love. Your grandfather, Pedro.'" Bruno read.
"Who? I don't have an abuelo?" Isabela asked.
"You do, he just never got a chance to meet you. He protected me and your mami tia and tio when they were only bebés. Before you were born I came to grace this house for your mami tio and tia, by some miracle after lighting the candle it granted them gifts. Your tio Bruno has the gift to see the future and show small pieces of the past. Every time a new gift is granted he gets a message tablet like the one he read. It is his magic that grants these gifts and even in death he gives us messages so we understand the magic." Alma explains to the child.
"so I will get a gift on my birthday?" Dolores asks
"I believe so. The magic is still new to us so I don't know how it all works just yet," Alma tells.
Regardless Isabela opens her door to see the best bedroom a five year old in 2000 could possibly have. She has a Clifford themed room. It had decals of the large red dog and all his friends on the walls, and everything was themed around Clifford. The bed was made with brand new bed sheets that were Clifford themed with a red blanket that matched everything.
Julieta knew the room would need a facelift in a year or two but indulging her baby with a bedroom themed around her favorite show for her birthday was more important.
Pepa smiled knowing Dolores would love her bedroom just as much as Isabela loved hers.
Three weeks pass and many sleepovers are had in Isabela's new room. Until the day came and it was finally Dolores's birthday. Her new bedroom door glowed with potential, and after a trip to the beach to celebrate Dolores was excited to see what was behind her door.
She touched the knob and watched the engravings swirl around and make sound waves. Then brunos eyes out up in their signature green and a tablet placed in his hand.
"to my second oldest granddaughter, many words describe your wonder but I often describe you as an owl. You have bright eyes to see the potential, and a smile that lights up a room like the sun after a storm. Your gift is the ability to hear even the tiniest of sounds when you need to. May you use this gift to help the people you love, your grandfather, Pedro" Bruno read immediately, knowing if he hesitated he'd be asked what the tablet said.
When Dolores turned the knob she found her room decorated with strawberry shortcake. Just like Isabela's room she had decals of strawberry and all her friends on the walls. Her bed was made with strawberry shortcake sheets and a pink blanket similar to her cousin's.
The room is likely to grow with Dolores at least for a few years but by the time she's 10 her room will need a redo. But like Julieta, Pepa didn't care because her daughters happiness was all that mattered.
Following Dolores's birthday, Julieta announced her third pregnancy.
She knew it was only a matter of time until Pepa announced her own pregnancy since she overheard a conversation between the married couple a few weeks prior.
Not even a month an a half later and Pepa finally announced her pregnancy, and so the cycle begins. Again.
Hope you enjoy ❤️

@mintsilhouette
I blame you for this. Tiny Tio time! 😁
Tumblr media
Bruno knew he was short. He was all too aware of it, thanks. He’d never been in denial about it and, most of the time, it didn’t bother him. It was just a fact of life. Both of his sisters were bigger than him, his mamá only ended up shorter than him in her old age; Agustín towered over him and Félix was the same height as him. Many people told him that Pedro had been tall too.
The real insult was that the kids were taller than him.
Frankly, it was the nail in the coffin, the last slap in the face from God Himself, the ultimate evidence that Bruno had terrible luck. Before he vanished, Isabela and Dolores were already well on their way to being taller than him (Isa, at age 12, had nearly been eye-level with him) and God knew Luisa was easily the tallest member of the family.
But Mirabel? His dear, sweet Mirabel, who’d never harm a fly?
This was injustice.
“I’m disowning you,” Bruno informed her flatly. Just before her sixteenth birthday, she’d hit one last growth spurt and now she was the same height as Julieta. Taller than Bruno.
Thanks for nothing, genetics.
“Sorry, Tio,” Mirabel laughed. She wasn’t sorry at all, the traitor. Camilo lounged against the counter with a smug grin; he was nearly the same height as Agustín now.
At least he looked a lot less smug when Bruno slapped him with a dish towel.
“Ay, come on!” Camilo groaned, rubbing his arm. “It’s not our fault you’re short! Blame Abuela!”
“I do,” Bruno said, nose in the air. “And whichever family member I inherited the short genes from. And Pepa.” He jerked his head at his sister, who was snickering shamelessly. “She definitely stole all the tall genes.”
“Get born faster next time,” Pepa said, patting him on the head.
“That doesn’t even make any sense, Pepa!”
“Your face doesn’t make any sense.”
Bruno’s eyes narrowed. “Your dress is ugly.”
Thunder rumbled. “You take that back!”
“How old are you two again?” Mirabel asked, arms crossed. Camilo was right back to looking unbearably smug.
By that point, Pepa had him in a headlock and Bruno resigned himself to his fate. Everyone in this damn house was taller than him except Félix and Antonio.
Sighing, Bruno glanced at Antonio who was giggling hysterically over their antics. “You won’t get taller than me, right, Tonito?” he asked.
“I’ll try not to!” Antonio said earnestly, eyes big and shiny. Did Bruno mention he’d simply die and kill for that child? Because he would, no hesitation.
Bless Antonio’s heart, he actually meant that he’d try and stay short. He even asked Félix for tips on how to be short at dinner, which made Félix gape at him wordlessly and the rest of the family (even Alma) burst out laughing.
But Bruno was Bruno. The world had a way of mocking him.
An involuntary vision hit right after dinner; he was dimly aware of someone catching him before he could hit the ground, green took over everything and...
There was a very tall young man, walking by Luisa. He had thick curly hair and a bright, happy grin; round eyes and a gentle disposition. He had a whole pack of animals following him and a jaguar at his side.
Bruno came back to reality and groaned tiredly. For once, it wasn’t because the vision had worn him out.
“Ay, Tonito,” he sighed. “You’re going to betray me, little guy.”
“Oh no!” Antonio’s eyes watered and he grabbed at Bruno, trying to pull him from Julieta’s arms. “Tio, what did I do?”
Bruno looked him dead in the eye. “You’re going to be 6′3″ you not-so-little traitor.”
“What!?” Camilo sounded completely indignant. “Are you kidding me!?”
“Ooh!” Antonio just looked impressed.
“You’re welcome, bébé,” Pepa said, cuddling Antonio.
“I’m sorry, Tio Bruno,” Antonio said with a little pout. “I can still try to be short. We can make a secret short club!”
How a complete gremlin like Pepa and a master of chaos like Félix had an angel like Antonio, Bruno would never understand.
The last of the vision headache started to clear away and Bruno was quick to snatch Antonio from Pepa, lifting him straight up into his arms. Antonio giggled and wrapped around him like a monkey. May as well get all the cuddles he could in, before Antonio inevitably towered over them all.
“I don’t think it’s secret if you announce it, Antonio,” Bruno said fondly, trying to bite back a grin. “But thanks for the offer.”

If the family had a nerf/paint ball war, who do you think would win? I personally think Pepa and Isabela would be the top winners...every. single. time.
However, if Julieta/Mirabel/Dolores truly felt competitive enough and in the spirit for a game, she would win.
The others are just there for fun!
Luisa would win, hands down!
I think Pepa would be too focused on beating her siblings (especially Bruno), she’d forget about the rest of the family. While Isabela could easily win like Luisa, she’d do something completely against the rules and get herself disqualified in the first few minutes of starting; she’d keep playing though. Probably has to be dragged off.
Julieta and Mirabel wouldn’t stand a chance. They are clever, sure, but very much lacking everywhere else. These two are more likely to just sit and watch… and by that I mean, not watching and just talking about something completely irrelevant like new recipes or the price of wool going up.
Dolores would claim not to be interested, but then turn around and really enjoy being an evil mastermind. Plus getting to shoot the gremlins? Yes please! (I’m pretty sure one of my first few incorrect quotes was about this exact thing).
Félix and Antonio are just playing for fun. They are a bit competitive in their own ways but not on par with the others. They are just enjoying this as a family bonding afternoon activity type of thing.
Bruno and Camilo are basically the fully competitive version of Félix and Antonio. Bruno just focuses on getting his sisters out the way, probably forms a team with at least a few of his nieces/nephews to protect him while he’s busy (learning from Pepa’s mistakes). Camilo has no real strategy, but he too also wants to take his sister down. Just kind of shooting as many people as possible.
Agustín, given his accident-prone nature, is probably not allowed to play. Alma as well because of her age. But the pair are very competitive on the sidelines, in contrast to Julieta and Mirabel, who probably aren’t even paying attention to the game and doing their own thing.

Elena's Madrigal Family dynamics
Alma
Alma was not fond of Elena being a lounge singer and while trying, would accidentally slip insults about it. Asking when she was giving it up etc. Also the divorce thing, before she understood the context, but still divorce is like very rare and a bishop has to agree. Yeah that dude sucks, God says yeeteth him.
Eventually, she realizes that she and Elena have a lot more in common when it comes to traumatic experiences and she finds it kind of comforting having a member of the family who understands loss, civil war, hunger and fear of societal destabilizing conditions like her.
So she came around.
Mirabel
She is close to Mirabel, but Mira had complicated emotions about wanting her uncle to be happy. But also worried a new family would take a black sheep ally away. But they worked through it and Mirabel comes to her for advice sometimes. @cheetee wrote a fic about this that was so wonderful, it's hijinks canon now
Antonio.
She adores Antonio, and she plays silly games with him.
Camilo
instant buds and kind of bring out the loving teasing behavior when near each other (Bruno: you're not allowed to gang up on me!")
Also big performer personalities so Camilo learns from her, and she and him help with Bruno's plays.
Agustin.
Get along well, he knows what it's like to not be on Alma's favored side.
Felix.
He is the only of the member of the family she will outright sarcastic jab with. Basically it's an ongoing cold war of short jokes.
Felix: oh Elena, bring an umbrella. Pepa is raining today and I know you and Antonio would be the last to know.
Elena: aye Felix! Short jokes? I'd ask how you could sink so low, but turns out that is your standing height.
Dolores.
To be honest. Sweet girl, thinks she is lovely. But constantly worried she is gonna say something sexy to Bruno and she is gonna hear it (which she suspects she has, bc one time she whispered something and Dolores squeaked, but determinedly wouldn't not look away from her knitting a room over). Also... Apparently she was listening to her uterus under Alma's request... So Elena let that one go
Luisa.
Elena wants to help. Elena, soft little city girl physically, more of a hindrance than a help. Elena insists on helping. Luisa insists she shouldn't. Repeat conversation ad infinitum.
Isabela.
They bonded on the concept of showing an idealized version of themselves to the world and it making them miserable. Elena offers insight into bisexual or lesbian identities based on her friendship with Lucia.
Pepa
these two are sassy little gremlins together. Once again. Lovingly tease Bruno.
Julieta.
Gentle mothering sister even though she is only 12 years younger, and has experienced far more life experiences. Julieta, gonna Julieta. Elena helps her with mass cooking though, bc though she is not as good as cook as Julieta, she has experience making food for a large group from being at the orphanage

Random Encanto HCs
((I am becoming an Encanto account and I am okay with this))
- When Camilo is excited they will wave their hands and arms around (stims baby)
- If Mirabel doesn’t have her bag to fidget with she will play with her hands (ex. pulling on her fingers, rubbing her hands together, and massaging her wrists)
- Camilo befriended the rats before they figured out Bruno lived in the walls (how else did the rats just know a dramatic ass musical number)
- Dolores will squeak when she’s upset, super excited/happy, or she hears something interesting/or she shouldn’t know (stims baby!)
- Sometimes when the sound gets too much, and she’s to far from her room, Dolores will curl up with her hands over her ears and rock back and forth.
- Whenever Mariano finds her during one he just sits behind her and pulls her between his legs, so her back was to his chest, and covered her hands with his own so she had an extra layer of protection against the sounds.
- When she calms down some she’ll turn so one of her ears are one his chest and she can listen to his heartbeat, he just takes now his free hand and presses it gently against his other one to try and block out as much as he can.
- When Pepa is happy and content she will spin around and watch the fabric of her dress twirl (a habit that her children have seemed to pick up(stims baby!!))
- Camilo and Mirabel were super close as children and called each other their twin (I want to make a fic that’s basically Encanto but with Mirabel and Camilo being super close, and helping each other during the movie (also, so much room for angst))
- Luisa’s favorite color is pink (you can tear this from my cold dead hands)
- When Luisa starts to get stressed and overwhelmed from her workload, along with her eye twitching, her hands with start to shake. Before the movie she used to have panic attacks during her chores, but afterwards would try working twice as hard (I’m sure everyone has done this once, it is not good and will always have repercussions on someone’s mental and physical health. Take. Breaks.)
- Post movie, with the family keeping everyone accountable and looking out for each other, when any of the Madrigals see her overworking herself they always make sure to get her to take a break
- The first person the ‘twins’ come out to is each other (Mirabel coming out as a disaster bisexual and Camilo coming out as a genderfluid gremlin)
- Whenever Abuela used to get sad and upset and wrapped up in her memories she would hide in her room, now she goes to the family and opens up about her emotions and the pain she kept hidden for so long
- At the end of every week the family will gather in someone’s room and they would talk about their emotions and how their week was; there sometimes will be fighting, yelling and thunder, but other times there’s smiling, laughing, rainbows and horrible jokes.
- Every Madrigal (and Casita) will tap their feet (tippy tappies motherfuckers) when they get excited
- Remember in Zootopia when one wolf starts to howl and the others join, that is La Casita and the Madrigals with tapping. Once one starts they all do, even Abuela will join in (though she’s usually sitting down), just tapping and dancing. Sometimes Casita will start tapping (her) tiles in order to get the family smiling and laughing.
- PreMovie, Julieta sometimes gets so lost in cooking that she disassociates, she’ll come to hours later by Agustín gently shaking her, she’d have minor burns on her hands/fingers and her legs/feet will be sore
- Post movie, Antonio and Bruno have some of the rats, that hang around the kitchen, get whoever is closest after an hour to check on her and making sure she takes a break
- When Dolores and Isabela were kids they thought they were sisters (like the ‘twins’), after they got their powers they were still close and Isabela would cover Dolores’ ears during parties
- The first person Isabela came out to was Dolores (PreMovie, she just comes into Dolores’ room sobbing and everything spills out)
- Pepa has a vocal stim (stims baby!!!), when she’s stressed she will mumble to herself “Clear skies, clear skies”
- Along with her vocal stim, she will also brush, stroke and pull on her hair
((Will probably make more later, please please please tell me what you think and your own headcanons))

"This is revenge for something I did in a past life isn't it? Whatever I did gave me two chaos children, a feral sister and her three kids are also chaos gremlins."
"Probably, maybe the time you took my arepas." Bruno shrugged.
"You know you love me!" Pepa laughed, leaning from the doorframe.
"I really don't or at least you make it hard for me to do so."
"Come on Julieta!" She smiled, twirling.
"Go away."

Celeste is growing up fast, and she's scared of the changes.
@needs-to-stop-looking-at-valves Dulce is pregnant! With Camilo’s baby!
Everything's OK mi estrella.
Celeste was a month away from her tenth birthday, and she was kind of dreading it in a way, she knew that from what she'd heard she was going to get some kind of talk after her birthday, and she was scared she'd done something to get herself in trouble.
Dolores was concerned since she'd heard rumors of the young girls in the encanto getting their first period as young as 8 years old, she wanted celeste to know what was going to happen before it happened so she wouldn't be scared.
For all Dolores knew Celeste could start her period any day now, I mean she herself had started when she was 11, so Celeste starting at ten wouldn't be surprising. Though it might be really early for her baby girl to get her first period, but it wasn't anything she and celeste couldn't get through together.
While Dolores drank her morning tea the trio of hunters approached her.
"Mama, can Rio and Songbird and me go hunting tonight?" Celeste asked Dolores.
"Let me ask tia if we have room for any more meat," dolores informed
"Tia juli? How are we doing on meat supply?" Dolores asked
"I'm gonna be using the last of our elk cut for dinner, and we have a few small fish left after that, why?" Julieta told as she buzzed around the kitchen taking care of her herbs and healing food
"The Golden trio wanted to go out and hunt," Dolores said walking back to the three awaiting children
"You can go, but go to the river to get some fish first. Then once you bring the fish back you can go find and elk or something. Do any of yoy need anything from town? Crickets, arrows, knife sharpening?" Dolores asks
"I need to restring my bow, the line's gone slack, and I need a new silencer since my other one fell off when we were hunting last time," Elena said
"My knife needs sharpening, it's gone dull to the point it'll frey a fishing line instead of make a clean cut," Celeste added.
"I need a new hook for crocodiles, I had a crock break my line and take the hook with him last time, and I need crickets," Bek told finishing the list of needs.
"Well then, let's get the three of you to town so we get a good haul tonight," Dolores said
"You're going into town?" Isabela asked curiously
"Yeah these three need some hunting stuff, why?"
"We need some things for the bathroom, and Liv needs a few things from Osvaldo’s" isabela said handing dolores a scrap of paper with a short list on it.
"Ok kiddos grab what you need to bring with you to get your gear, and we'll be leaving once I let tio mariano know that I'm leaving." Dolores declared
The kids started gathering their things, Elena getting her bow, with the slack string, Celeste grabbing her knife to get sharpened, and Bek grabbing his cricket bucket and his hook caps so he doesn't hurt himself on his new crocodile hook.
"Mi amor, I'm taking the kiddos to town for some hunting gear and isa needs me to get some chocolate for liv and apparently we're almost out of pads too," dolores tells as she ties her espadrilles around her ankles.
"Ok mi buho, be safe" he says pressing a kiss to her cheek as he catches a sneaky grope to her rear. Loving the little squeak he gets a a response.
Once the group is in town she leaves the trio in the little hunters market while she places an order for the chocolate cookies and treats liv wants.
She returns, to see that senor ruis is helping her restring her bow with a silencer on it, Celeste is looking at some hunting boots, and Bek is looking at the spears.
"Alright there señorita, strung up just right with a fresh racoon tail silencer on it," senor ruis plucking the bow string to double check its taughtness.
"Gracias senor," Elena thanked as Dolores approached to pay for the restrung bow.
"No need dolores, on the house today, I can tell Elena doesn't misuse that bow of hers, she just wears the string out with how much she hunts." He tells
"Gracias," Dolores said guiding the trio to the tackle shop.
"Hola mis pequeños pescadores, what's got you three here today?" Senor DelRio said as soon as the trio walked in
"We need some crickets, and i need a new crocodile quad, had one bite through the line and take the one I had with him," Bek told the older man.
"Mhm, sounds like you got a mean crock on the river, do you need some stronger line?" He asked the boy
"If you have some stronger than the black paracord I always get," Bek said
"I got you covered hombrecito, " Senor DelRio said as he gathered the crickets and placed them into bek’s bucket that he made from wire fencing and some wood.
"Here you are, take care with that quad hook," Senor DelRio told.
"Here you go senor," dolores said handing him the money for the hook line and crickets.
"Good luck with the fish," Senor DelRio called as the group left.
"Now, I'm going to ler you thre go to the blacksmith on your own, because I have to pick some things up from Osvaldo’s. Stay together, don't leave the blacksmith until I come for you
The trio walk through the square until they get to Rosita's place.
"Hola Rosita!" Celeste said.
"Hola estrella, what brings you to the blacksmith today? Did your tio send you?" She asked
"Nope, it's me this time, I need my knife sharpened por favor, it's gone dull." Celeste explained
"Of course, can I see this blade of yours?" Rosita requested.
Celeste handed her knife over, and rosita tutted softly
"This knife is getting thin mija, tell you what, I'll sharpen it for you this time, but then I'm gonna make you a new one. And since your la sobrina de mi novio, I'll do it free of charge as a gift for your birthday." Rosita said.
"Really?" Celeste asked
"Of course mija, do you want a carved handle?" Rosita asked
"Si can you do a star carving with my birthstone embedded in it?" Celeste asked
"What's your birthstone?"
"Aquamarine,"
"It'll be ready by your birthday," rosita promised
"What will? Dolores said as she walked into the blacksmith shop.
"Her new knife, it's my birthday gift to her, her knife that she has is getting down to the bone, and she deserves a good strong knife to gut an elk with," Rosita answered
"That she surely does, I don't want her getting all of her clothes disgusting trying to spend an hour gutting an elk when she can do it in 20 minutes with a sharp knife." Dolores said as Celeste was given her knife back freshly sharpened.
"See you at casita Rosita," Dolores called wxiting the shop.
"Ok you three have all you need, I've got what isa asked me to get, let's get home and have some lunch before you three head out on an elk hunt and fishing trip." Dolores declared as Elena shifted her bow sling from her right to her left shoulder, Bek placed his hook caps on his quad hook, and Celeste put her case over her knife.
" I want you three home by no later than midnight, and if you can, catch a duck, I can hear dulce's baby, and if we can assume anything from her last pregnancy she's gonna want duck," Dolores told
"Lips sealed, secret safe," Dolores said, making the trio vow to secrecy with a silly saying
"Close the vault, lock the safe," the three choruses vowing their silence.
Once the sun started to set, the trio got their hunting clothes on.
Elena dressed in black boots and a simple light dress with shorts underneath, since she was gonna be in the trees,
Celeste was in her yellow pants and black top with dark burgundy boots.
And Bek, was dressed in a green pair of shorts and accompanying top, his green boots in hand. Isa had their faces smudged with green and yellow pollen so they blended in more. And Luisa was tying the girls' bandanas on their heads isabela doing Bek’s around his collar.
"There you go girls," luisa said happy with her handiwork
"To the river," Bek declared.
Celeste hid them with her invisibility. And the three headed off into the shadows.
"Ok, I'm going to set a crocodile line, and then stop the river flow for us to catch some fish for tia julieta," Bek said as they walked through the mountain crack.
"Here's my knife, did you bring the crock line?" Celeste asked
"Sure did, this stuff ought to hold that beast, we'll have to check the line tomorrow" Bek said through his teeth as he tied the quad hook, onto the line.
"Did one of you grab the chicken off the counter that tía cut for us?" Bek asked taking the caps of the hooks, stuffing them into his pocket.
"Got it," Elena said handing the raw chicken over
"Good," Bek said hooking it on the line, once the chicken was hooked he set the line, tying it to a tree to make sure the crock wouldn't escape.
A rustle in the woods behind them caused them to go quiet, Elena drawing her bow, Bek pulling the dagger he snitched from his tio Felix's hunting supplies, and Celeste being handed her knife back.
"JAGUAR! STAR WATCH OUT!" Bek screamed as he watched the jaguar pounce out of the shrubs
When it jumped at Celeste, when Elena caught a shot as the jaguar was in mid air, still, the claws scratched Celeste, tearing her shirt but not breaking skin.
Celeste fell onto some rocks, thst left a few scratches on her back. But nothing more than slightly reddened skin and barely bleeding marks. Not to mention when she fell, she landed on a sharp rock right between her legs.
Celeste cut the loose pieces off of her shirt to use wiping the jaguar blood off of Elena's hands which resulted in it's new length stopping right below Celeste's ribs showing her toned and flat stomach in the moonlight.
"Celeste, are you ok?" Bek asked, looking at her stomach searching for a mark.
"I'm fine, he only tore my shirt, by the way nice shot Lena."
"Thanks... Celeste are you sure your OK? Your pants are bloody," Elena said pointing to the growing red stain coming from between Celeste's legs.
"Well I'm not hurting, so I don't know what that is, but since we have a jaguar and a bucket of fish courtesy of bek's gift, we should head home. " Celeste suggested.
When they returned back to casita, Bek took the jaguar in to tia julieta and got some of her arepas for them as a post hunt snack, and hopefully to get Celeste to stop bleeding. Elena scaled the fish, and Celeste ate the arepa that healed all of the scratches and marks, but the red stain still grew even after the arepa.
Celeste, Elena, and Bek began to panic.
"Maybe you should go to the bathroom. See if you can see the cut," Elena suggested, and with her invisibility. Celeste snuck through the kitchen and into the bathroom. Locking the door behind her, she pulled her pants off and she didn't see any scratches on her legs.
Maybe it's further up, underneath my underwear. Yeah, it looks like the blood's coming from this front bit of fat Celeste thought.
When she pulled down her underwear she saw that the blood was concentrated further back on her underwear than she thought it just seeped into the fabric making it look like the blood was coming from somewhere else. There was no cut, atleast not visible.
"Celeste! Did you find the cut?
"No, can you go get pepa por favor? Maybe she'll know what to do" Celeste requested
Pepa was walking toward Isabela's room to help her with some plant things when she saw Elena run up to her.
"Tia pepa! Celeste needs you, she's in the bathroom," Elena told
Pepa followed the girl down to the bathroom, rapping her knuckles on the door when she got there.
"Mi nieta? What's wrong," Pepa asked
"I don't know!" Celeste squeaked
"Can I come in?" Pepa asked
"Si," Celeste said quietly.
Pepa opened the door and stepped in, seeing the bloody mess on her nieta.
"I'm bleeding, and I don't see a cut anywhere. What's happening to me?" Celeste asks desperate for answers as to what's going on.
Pepa looks down at Celeste's pants that had been abandoned on the floor, and it dawned on her what was going on.
"I think I know, can you take your panties off for me?" Pepa asked
Celeste was desperate to figure out what was wrong so whatever pepa asked, she did.
Pepa took one look at Celeste's underwear and the blood on her thighs. Poor girl was a month away from turning ten, and getting this talk.
"OK, I can assure you you will be just fine mi nieta, I need to get a few things, go on and shower while I get what you need," pepa told, Celeste breathed a sigh of relief at the assurance that she would be just fine. She pulled her top off and took her red tresses out of their shirt ponytail and stepped into the shower.
"Lola! Can I come in?" Pepa asked rapping her hands against the door to her daughter's bedroom
"Si mama.... why do you look like you've seen a ghost?" Dolores asked pulling her door open to see her very anxious mother with a cloud above her head.
"tu niña acaba de tener su período, ella pensó que era una herida, y está asustada," Pepa explained, going full Spanish due to her panic.
"OK that tradition about the talk after their tenth is changing to after their 9th, mi bebita" Dolores grumbled as she grabbed a pad from her closet, along with on of her old nightgowns, knowing Celeste found comfort in wearing some of her mamí's clothes.
"Gather up Elenita, Ava, Elena, tía juli, and Mira, I'll meet you guys in my room with star once she's taken care of," Dolores instructed entering the bathroom where her little girl was.
Pepa went to gather the aforementioned adults first before gathering the girls.
"Hey Pepa," Elena said as she sipped her tea, she was sitting with Julieta at the bar. Julieta deboning some jaguar cuts.
"Hola, we have a situation," Pepa said.
"Who got hurt?" Julieta asked peeking around behind Elena.
"Nobody got hurt per se, but there's blood involved. " Pepa said,
"Which one?" Elena asked finishing her tea.
"Celeste," Pepa said before rummaging through the wine cupboard, "wine? Were gonna need it for the awkward conversation ahead of us," pepa asked as she uncorked a bottle of red wine.
"It isn't awkward pepi, you just get really bad secondhand embarrassment for the kids," Elena said watching Pepa pour herself a glass of wine.
"Anyway, we need to get Mirabel, Elena, and Ava, and head to Lola's room," Peoa told taking a long swig of red wine.
"I'll go find mi mariposita, Elena, you find Elenita, Pepa, you find Avalyn," Julieta concluded wrapping the last cut of jaguar in parchment, and placing it in the meat chest.
After each of the eldest three found their niña, they all went to Dolores's room, taking a seat on her bed, sofa, or on the floor near the bed.
Dolores walked in moments later, Celeste attempting to hide behind her.
"Well this is certainly not how I expected to bring this subject up," Dolores mumbled, sitting on her bed with Celeste beside her.
"What happened to Celeste?" Elena asked since se was one of the ones to witness the blood on Celeste's pants.
"Celeste got her first period," Dolores said simply hoping her prima or tía will jump in and explain.
"What's that?" Ava asked
"Well, it's what makes all of us able to have bebés, each month, your body prepares for pregnancy by thickening the lining of your womb, and sending an egg down to be fertilized by a boy, if it isn't fertilized all of the lining and the egg come out, that's what makes the mess. The bleeding is most commonly referred to as your period. And the cycle as a whole is the menstrual cycle." Julieta explains
"So Celeste isn't hurt?" Elena asked
"Not at all mi Elenita, at least not in a traditional sense of having a wound. She may feel pain in her stomach, back, or around her nipples due to all the hormones, these pains are common, they're called cramps," Elena chuckled ruffling the younger girl's hair.
"Does it happen to all girls?" Ava asked
"Si, while these two don't have it anymore," mirabel said pointing to her tía and mama "Me, tía Elena, and Lola do, once you start your period, you'll have It every month for a long time, but when you get to be about 55, it stops, that's called menopause," mirabel said.
"Do you have any stories to tell?" Celeste piped up for the first time since entering the room.
"Goodness yes, I could tell you loads of stories about your Mami, or your abuela, even mirabel," Julieta said with a little chuckle
"And I could tell stories on you, you were awful when you were on," pepa said poking her sister's side
"You wouldn't dare!" Julieta gasped
"I would. Want to hear about the time she bled on tío gus," Pepa asked getting a collective yes from the young girls
"Dios mio," Julieta sighed
Hope you enjoy ❤

If ur still willing when you have time for an Encanto prompt- you’ve done Pepa and and Julieta, what about Bruno being cornered on who his favorite is? Or the ensuing chaos after he tells them😂
Chaos for all!
Tumblr media
“What do you gremlins want?” Bruno asked flatly. He didn’t even look up from feeding the rats their breakfast.
Mirabel grinned at him sheepishly anyway. She and her sisters, as well as their cousins, were crowded in his doorway.
“We have a question,” she said, trying to sound persuasive and wheedling.
“I’m not playing this favourites game,” Bruno said, turning to face them with his arms crossed. “I’ve told you before I don’t have favourites.”
“See, you say that,” Camilo said, stroking his chin like a pantomime villain. “But you just winked at Dolores and Mirabel.”
“And you promised I could be your favourite,” Antonio added. He was using his puppy-eyes full force and Mirabel had to resist the urge to scoop him up into a cuddle. He was so cute it should be illegal.
Bruno wasn’t stupid; he avoided the power of the puppy-eyes by staring up at the ceiling instead.
“Nope,” he said. Mirabel could see his resolve weakening. “I don’t have favourites.”
Dolores raised her eyebrows, smirking. It was Mirabel’s biggest clue that her tio was lying: he totally had a favourite.
That favourite had better be Mirabel.
But there was no way Bruno would admit to having favourites in front of an audience. He’d be terrified of hurting anyone’s feelings and he knew all too well what it was like to not be the favourite. Not that Tio Bruno ever left anyone out or played obvious favourites, but he always got upset at the idea of any of them feeling left out.
So, as Bruno shooed them all from his room, Mirabel made a new plan.
She cornered him after dinner with Dolores and Antonio.
“We’re your favourites, right?” she demanded.
“Dios mio!” Bruno yelped, jerking away as they cut off his path to the stairs. “Can’t you harass Félix and Agustín?”
“We will be,” Dolores said. Bruno didn’t look very reassured.
It was time to break out the big guns. Mirabel picked Antonio up and he turned the full power of his pout onto Bruno. Bruno’s whole expression immediately softened.
“Are we your favourites?” Antonio asked in his sweetest voice. “You’re my favourite.”
They had him. Bruno let out a quiet “Aw,” and happily took Antonio from Mirabel’s arms, cradling him gently.
Bruno looked around the courtyard. No one else was in sight.
“Okay,” he sighed. “You three are my favourites. But for the love of God, do not tell anyone I said that!”
Mirabel punched the air in victory. Dolores had a smug smile on her face and Antonio gave a happy squeal as he hugged Bruno tighter.
“No promises,” Mirabel said cheerfully. “I need to lord this over Camilo!”

Hello! If you're still taking prompts, I would love a drabble about Bruno and Camilo bonding over their shared love of acting.
They’re a pair of gremlins, your honour
Takes place in the “Flickering” ‘verse!
Tumblr media
So, here’s the thing: Camilo didn’t expect to have much in common with Bruno. His uncle was so quiet and anxious, usually listening instead of talking.
But then, during their first family dinner at Casita, Julieta and Pepa gleefully recounted Bruno dropping water balloons full of dirty water on a bully, because he’d given Pepa a hard time over her anxiety.
Well, Camilo had always been a mamá’s boy and he loved a good prank. What’s more, Camilo saw his uncle reading books on plays, saw him telling Antonio stories and messing about with his sisters, and…It occurred to him they had stuff in common after all.
“So!” Camilo jumped up to his uncle’s side, grinning at Bruno’s startled yelp. “You like acting, Tio?”
“Huh? Oh, yeah.” Bruno smiled at him, immediately relaxing. “Always have.”
Camilo nodded at the book of plays Bruno was holding, brand new and apparently containing some famous comedies.
“Mind sharing? I could use some new material.”
Bruno’s smile widened, surprised but pleased.
“Sure,” he said with a nod. “Yeah. Of course.”
