One of the reasons I will never be at ease with the overall "weirdness", the underwhelming pay-offs and the unfired Chekhov's guns during the plot(s) of season 2 - until season 3 arrives and we either learn that it's because of a brilliant trick they pulled on us OR because Neil & John actually did drop the ball and couldn't get the story structure right (yeah, sure 😏) - one of those reasons is that they got Aziraphale's character arc during that season so very, very right.
It is beautiful. It is subtle. It is organic. It is like a red thread running through all the episodes.
In the very first scene we learn something about Aziraphale & Crowley that we didn't know before. And it isn't that Crowley used to be such a ray of sunshine and that what led to the Fall must have been more traumatising than he always let on (that, too, but it's not the main point). It is that Aziraphale knew a version of Crowley that was deeply, unapologetically kind, and gentle, and caring; that he was everything an angel was supposed to be; and that Aziraphale himself, before the Fall even happened, was aware of some lurking inequity and oppression which presented a danger to that sweet, innocent angel. We are shown how Aziraphale could arrive at the conclusion that whatever happened to Crowley just wasn't right. And how he might think that that was something that should be fixed.
"I know the angel you were." In Job we are reminded that Aziraphale's memory of Crowley's angel persona at least that early in their story still partly informs his image of him.
"They aren't talking to him anymore", that sounds as if Aziraphale might have actually tried.
"It's nice to tell someone about the good things you've done, now that I'm not reporting to Heaven..." Aziraphale misses it. He still does good deeds, but he misses reporting them to someone.
"You really used to be awful." Gabriel is about the worst angel he has known. But once Heaven's conditioning was taken away, even he became an absolut sweetheart. Aziraphale learned this season very impressively that angels can change.
Muriel. Innocent, enthusiastic, downright good Muriel. Whose adventures as a human copper are mirrored so perfectly in Aziraphale's attempt to pass as a "newspaper man". Aziraphale learned that even now, not ALL angels are bad. And that there are some in Heaven who are just like him, and might need his help.
When Gabriel needed his help, Aziraphale gave it, with no vindictive thought or concern for his own safety. He couldn't just not help him. And when Crowley stormed off, Aziraphale simply waited for him to come back. This mirrors both their decisions at the end of season 2, though so far without Crowley changing his mind and coming back.
It has all been layed out for us from the beginning. Which is why it baffles me so much that so many people did not seem to see it - or want to see it.
Now, Crowley's character arc!
I am not really sure about that, but so far, to me, it seems to be just as all over the place as the plot setups and his sideburns, hair length, hair colour and sunglasses during the season are.
We are shown that present-day-Crowley keeps important things from Aziraphale - he still hasn't told him about Gabriel's attitude during the attempted execution, he hasn't told him that he is living in his car, and even when Aziraphale tells him that he needs to go to Heaven, he doesn't tell him about the looming second attempt at an apocalypse - which is extremely weird, since it would have been so important for Aziraphale to know and could have influenced his final decision quite a lot. At this moment the latest you also can't explain it as an attempt to protect Aziraphale anymore, since going in blind could make things actually more dangerous for him.
He did not do this during season 1, where it was Aziraphale who kept things from him for quite a while.
But after all this aggravated not-telling-him-things all he needs is a conversation with Nina & Maggie and immediately afterwards he makes the biggest, most honest confession of his life? Really?
And then all these comments casually dropped about his former rank as angel - "How do you know I didn't do it?" / "That's not actually a thing, that's just something we used to joke about to frighten the Cherubs" / "They never change their passwords" - and all these hints about his memory - he knows how it feels to "look at where the furniture isn't", he doesn't remember or claims not to remember either Furfur or Saraquael - something just doesn't add up. It actually is like looking at where the furniture isn't.
I do want to believe that when I figure it out that I will know a lot more about what's coming in season 3. Alas, I don't think I can figure it out without knowing what is coming in season 3.

CQL's crybaby Nie Mingjue appreciation post
I always see people talking about CQL's Nie Mingjue crying constantly, and they're right to do so, but I haven't seen those scenes compiled so I thought it would be a good idea to do it, since it's one of my favorite things about this version of NMJ.
*I'll consider the times he was tearing up too because I think they're important, but i'm only considering "full crying scenes" the ones where there are actual tears falling down his face.
*It's all in chronological order.
Episode 41 - defending Meng Yao
Tumblr media
Why is NMJ crying? Crying is his response to everything, okay? NMJ is very emotionally invested in everything he does. He's very mad these men for saying terrible things about Meng Yao while benefiting from his labour. He's so emotionally invested in everything he does.
Is it a full crying scene? No, he tears up the entire time he's scolding the cultivators but those tears don't leave his eyes.
Episode 10 - being threatened by Wen Chao
Tumblr media
Why is NMJ crying? Wen Chao is being very disrespectful, as he often is. And it's understandable, NMJ is hurt, his home was invaded, some of his soldiers are dead and it's overall a terrible time for everybody. To be honest, though, I think he's tearing up out of pure rage because Wen Chao just mentioned what Wen Xu did to the Cloud Recesses.
Is it a full crying scene? No. I almost didn't include this one because it's very subtle but his eyes look too shiny to be ignored.
Episode 10 - expelling Meng Yao from the Unclean Realm
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why is NMJ crying? It's a very emotional and conflicting moment on top of a terrible day, on top of a very stressful period of his life. He was betrayed by his friend who saved his life right afterwards; his home was invaded and they're at war! He has every right to cry as much as he did.
Is it a full crying scene? Hell yes, and it's glorious. They even end the episode with his miserable little crying face.
Episode 41 - Everything, really
Tumblr media
Why is NMJ crying? Everything sucks, he's defeated and hurt in front of the man who killed his father. He didn't get his personal revenge and he didn't free the world from Wen Ruohan's tyranny either. Instead, he watched helplessly as his men were murdered and now he has to watch his former deputy mock his father's death and threaten to have Wen Ruohan damage Baxia like he did with his father's blade.
Is it a full crying scene? No, only because he's being very brave about it. I have no idea how those tears didn't fall.
Episode 41 - confrontation at Jinlintai
Tumblr media Tumblr media
Why is NMJ crying? Very difficult topics being discussed here. People who are way better with words than I am have already written amazing meta on how having his worldview challenged like this affects NMJ emotionally, so I won't go there. But between the song of turmoil making him more emotionally unstable and the disdain with which JGY talks about the men he killed, evoking this very traumatic moment I just mentioned on the previous crying scene; I think it's very understandable.
Is it a full crying scene? Yes! Most of the time he's holding back tears, but you can see the one dramatic tear running down his nose (on the outside of it) on the second gif!
In conclusion: he has so much to cry about, it's surprising he didn't cry more, it must have taken so much strength (or he was just crying offscreen, which is plausible, because sadly this isn't The Nie Mingjue show and we don't see him all the time)
Anyway, I am not here to claim he's not a crybaby because he absolutely is, but on the actual show we only have 2 full crying scenes. They were so impactful it feels like much more crying happened. Fatal Journey is it's own thing so I made a separate post for those tearing up, crying and emotional breakdown lovely scenes <3

The Director (Part 2)
Pairing: Cillian Murphy x Reader
Warning: Infidelity, Abuse
Tumblr media
Shrugging off the encounter, your thoughts returned to the pressing matters of life, mainly picking up the kids from school.
Arriving late, you already saw James's car parked in front of the school, signifying he had beaten you to the finish line.
With his arms crossed in displeasure, he stood there with Max and Mara, your two gorgeous kids, anxiously jumping around him, eagerly waiting for your arrival.
As you parked, you sighed, knowing it was time to put on that familiar face and stay strong for them as everything was ostensibly fine for the kids.
"What the fuck Y/N," James snapped, eyes blazing with anger and frustration. "You are late, again!" James scolded as you exited the car, your eyes briefly flickering toward his fuming expression. "You know how important it is for them to have a consistent routine. Despite, they are not my kids," he added accusingly, gesturing toward your children.
Max and Mara, like obedient angels, stood there quietly, the contrast to James's stern exterior almost comical. "Sorry. Mommy got into an accident, but she is alright," you explained, flashing them a reassuring smile, attempting to defuse an already tense situation.
"You could have called me or the school," James barked, otherwise, unimpressed with your explanation.
"I am sorry, I just-" you attempted to justify, but before you could get a word in edgewise, he held up a hand, cutting you off.
"I left you two messages James!" you then eventually blurted out, determined to defend yourself with every ounce of strength remaining within you.
James's eyes narrowed, and the displeasure painted in every single step, made it clear that you had two options here - swallow your words or stand your ground.
You felt a surge of protectiveness crawl up your spine, and despite the exhaustion and overall mayhem of the day, the last thing you planned on doing was cowering from your husband's temper.
"I am sick of picking up your children all the time Y/N. You need to get your shit together," James scoffed, as if you were purposely trying to inconvenience him, as if all this chaos was somehow part of some nefarious scheme.
"Excuse me? Really, James-" you stopped short upon seeing your children's anxious faces, reminding yourself that regardless of what was going on between you two, your precious little angels needed stability.
Deep breath in.
"Leave it for tonight," you whispered, exhaustion tugging at the corners of your closed eyelids and you knew that, come tonight, you would probably have to endure another one of his most recent antics.
Just a few months ago, you were offered a position as an assistant director for Christopher Nolan's movie Oppenheimer, a film that your husband had tried hard to get a significant role in.
However, in the end, Nolan offered him no more than a 3-minute scene which was something that unsettled him greatly.
It made him angry and it was this anger that he had let out on you after the director of the movie refused to give in to James's father's demands. "I can always take my movie elsewhere," was what Christopher Nolan had told James's father who, for the past few years, had been running Universal Studios.
Ever since having been declined at least a supporting role in Oppenheimer, James had become more aggressive in nature and whilst his violent tendencies were only aimed at you in private, you knew that it was only a matter of time before the self-entitled man would unleash his wrath on your children too.
Coping with an abusive husband was a type of challenge you had never anticipated facing and having to endure it without being able to leave made matters even worse.
"Alright kids, time to get into the car," you eventually said, flashing them a strained smile before taking hold of their bags.
As you put their bags into the car, you were silently thanking Christopher Nolan for affording you the opportunity to at least escape your reality briefly through work and, whilst you disliked the fact that you could not see your children much for the duration of two months, you needed the break from James and you knew that they were going to be save, staying with your mother.
Thus, after enduring some more of James antics that night, the following day you packed your children's suitcases and drove them to your mother's house, knowing that she was going to take good care of them.
She gave you a warm smile, whispering into your ear, "It's alright to take a break sometimes." She sensed your apprehension to leave your children with her simply to further your career, but she knew from experience that sometimes a mother needed to prioritize herself in order to provide the best life for her children.
From the moment you dropped your children off at your mother's house, you felt a heavy weight lifted off your shoulders. She saw the relief in your eyes and gave you a comforting squeeze. "Go on," she said, shooing you away. "I’ve got these little ones covered and you don't really want to be late for Christopher Nolan, do you?" she asked, a twinkle in her eye.
You laughed, easing the tension in your shoulders. "Alright mom, thank you for taking care of them. I will skype every night and I am back home for a few days on the 17th!" you told her before you kissed your kids goodbye, lingering for just a moment, and then stepped out of the house, slamming the door behind you before driving off to your first day at work.
The set of Oppenheimer was like nothing you had ever seen. The vast expanses of production design took your breath away. Towering sets representing pivotal places and events from history stretched to the sky, blocking out the sun as you walked through the enormous studio. So many people bustled around, each fulfilling their role with diligence and skill. It was a marvel of modern filmmaking.
You couldn't help but feel a sense of awe as you walked onto the set. You had worked on numerous productions before, but nothing quite as massive as this.
Laboratories and lecture rooms, offices and corridors - every part of the set was meticulously detailed, painstakingly constructed to recreate a true to live experience.
You could see the passion for storytelling in every single person setting up the set for the day. It was a contagious energy, one that quickly filled you with excitement and anticipation for what was to come.
In that moment, you were reminded of why you had fought so hard to carve a name for yourself in this often challenging industry.
So many people believed that you had earned your position due to your family's status and wealth, reckoning that you required no real skill or dedication.
The desire to prove them all wrong though kept you going, working long and grueling hours in order to succeed on your own merits. Here, amidst the bustling world of filmmaking, you could allow your dreams to unfold and, even if only for a little while, forget about the chaos and stress of your personal life.
As the second assistant director, you had numerous responsibilities and on your first day, you hit the ground running.
From coordinating with various departments, ensuring that all the crew members and actors were in their places ready for their scenes, to monitoring script changes, scheduling requests and budget approvals, you had a full plate.
"Great, I can see that you are all set here Y/N," Christopher said as, eventually, he came to find you after about four hours had passed already that day. There was no introduction and, just like everyone else, he was extremely busy overseeing both the larger picture as well as executing the finer details of the set whilst also ensuring that everything was done just in time and within budget.
"Yes, we are all ready to go on sets 2 and 3," you said with a tentative smile.
You knew that you had landed your dream job and whilst balancing your professional and personal life was challenging, the opportunity to work with one of the greatest directors of our time was exciting.
"Fantastic, I will go ahead and brief everyone for the day ahead," Chris said before turning to head off towards the first set which is when you saw him again. The man who, just a day or so ago, drove into your car.
You watched him from afar, appraising him as he eagerly discussed the planned scenes with Chris which is when it hit you. The attire and his physical features gave it away and the make-up and design departments had done a fabulous job once again in making this guy, who had ruined your day, the leading man of this movie.
The freckles dotted across his cheekbones, the striking blue eyes and that lean aura of his, made him look just like Oppenheimer himself.
"Fucking hell, this must be a joke," you gasped, seeing that you had given this man a very hard time about the damage to your car without realizing who he was, and you most certainly had no idea that the man you had unloaded your frustrations on was about to become a person with whom you would be working with closely every day.
This realization, of course, sent waves of shock and embarrassment through you, leaving you rooted in place with a sudden loss of words as, suddenly, he spotted you too.
The look on his face was one of surprise but also curious amusement, a slight tug of his lips in the corners that intrigued you just enough to pull you out of your mortification.
Approaching him, you stood tall, straightening your back with confident determination, unwilling to let this man see you weak.
"So, we meet again," you started, your voice casual and bright, masking the lingering sting of embarrassment.
He raised an eyebrow, the corners of his lips betraying a slight smirk. "Yeah. Apparently, it's a small world," he replied, his accent infused with the warmth of a rare smile.
You hesitated for a brief moment, unsure of how to continue this less-than-comfortable conversation, but also aware that ignoring the situation was clearly not an option.
"I suppose it is," you stammered before mumbling an apology. "And, look, I am sorry about the other day," you blurted out scratching the back of your head. "I mean, about getting so upset and everything," you added, steeling yourself for the worst-case scenario but, instead of attacking you, he surprised you yet again by flashing another dimpled smile.
"Apology accepted," he said simply, brushing off the awkward tension between you as if it were nothing at all.  "And hey, I am sorry about your car," he furthermore told you and, if only you had known then that this man was going to completely change the course of your life, perhaps the embarrassment would not have stung so deeply in this very moment.
"Thank you, uhm, Cillian," you replied with a slight nod, reading his name of your scene schedule for the day. "I am Y/N by the way, your second assistant director," you added with an awkward smile.
"You are Y/N Y/LN?" Cillian asked, his voice tinged with surprise.
"Yes," you nodded shyly. "You sound surprised," you then chuckled, tucking a loose strand of hair behind your ear as you studied him with a cocktail of curiosity and inexplicable familiarity.
He took a step back, studying you with newfound interest. "I am actually," he confessed, his voice a soft murmur as he took you in, curiosity gleaming in his blue eyes. "You directed 'Cloudstreet' and I assumed that you were older," he told you and, in that moment, you couldn't help but warm to him, his disarming charm dismantling your defenses.
"And I am surprised that you've seen it," you told him with a chuckle, before tilting your head to one side. He was certainly an attractive man with his deep blue eyes, his unruly hair portraying the young Robert Oppenheimer and his heavily freckled skin barely covered up by the make-up he had to wear for filming.
"It was one of my favorite Indies from the past five years or so," he replied with a smile, his blue eyes gleaming wickedly. "You did an amazing job with it," he told you with sincere admiration and, even though you felt a little too flattered, you couldn't help but hold onto the feeling of finally meeting someone in this industry who respected even productions that were neither Hollywood material nor money makers.
"Well, thank you" you smiled back at him, feeling a little more at ease in this odd, yet somehow comforting interaction just as Chris came walking by and telling Cillian that he was finally ready to shoot the first scene for the day.
"Looks like I have to run," Cillian told you with an apologetic expression as he began to walk away. But then, just as the distance between you two started to grow, he stopped in his tracks and turned back around to face you. "Hey, Y/N," he called out to you and, once again, you felt yourself hooked entirely by his entrancing gaze.
"Yeah?" you asked, your voice barely above a whisper as you waited for him to say something more, your heart racing in your chest at the mere sight of him standing there.
"I look forward to working with you," he said, his words measured and polite, yet his gaze lingered on you for just a beat longer than necessary.
To be continued...

Just saw the Mario Movie and I got a few things to say
1) overall, I enjoyed it a lot and referencing stuff from the games tickled my brain. It’s a fun movie and I wouldn’t mind watching it again
2) heLLO???? THE MUSIC????? FANTASTIC. Hearing the little iconic tunes are making me giggle lol
3) the animation is so pretty! I don’t know much about art, but I thought it was really really nice. Lighting was really cool and the detail on the world and characters was impressive
4) Peach was not being an insufferable “Strong Woman” like I feared. She was there doing what she needed to do and not making a huge deal about it. Thank you for that. She’s my main in smash and kart and I would die for her.
5) speaking of Peach, she and Mario did not end up in a romantic relationship at the end. They are partners, friends. If they were to get into a relationship in the far future, I think this is a good starting point to build off of.
6) and speaking of Mario, the guy was pretty cool. The Pratt man wasn’t terrible. I was iffy at the beginning of the movie but I was over it after a short while. I cringed less than I thought
7) I am so so so happy they didn’t pull a “What is this? Im the chosen one? But im just a dude” trope. Mario is just like, “ayo im a guy and im confident that I know how to do plumbing things and I love my brother.” Love that for you, Mario.
8) The Mario and Luigi’s brotherly relationship is everything to me. It was beautiful and all I ever needed in the franchise. I want more. And to get more, i need Luigi to be by Mario’s side and not trapped in a cage for most of the movie. Luigi is my baby and I love him and he’s doing great in every scene. I just NEED him to have MORE screen time.
9) up until this movie, I did not ship Bowser and Luigi, but now I’m considering it. They’re interactions were sus as hell and the chemistry was undeniable. That’s just the truth sorry not sorry
10) JACK BLACK WAS AMAZING AND HES EVERYTHING AS BOWSER AND YES MAN SING IT
11) I love Bowser with all my heart and he was so good in this movie
12) D. K. DONKEY KONG
That was the BEST way to introduce him and I nearly went feral when it happened
13) I need more DK and Mario friendship please and thank you
14) I want more content and I hope the internet will supply me with fun and fluffy (or angsty) content otherwise, I will cry
15) Charles Martinet as the father makes me gakshsjgsksgsskyespleaseandthankyousomuch
16) so this is not “a few” haha I don’t remember everything wanted to say because it’s been a couple minutes since I started thinking and now my brain is foozy woozy mushy wushy bye bye

A Spirited Surprise
{NKIT No 4.1}

GN!Reader x Task Force 141

Summary: The Reader is in the infirmary, their first visitor greets them with flowers and a plush plague doctor.

Art by Me { @ghostswow }
(3rd Person POV | They/Them so anyone can read :) | Mid Twenties to Early Thirties)
[Enjoy! (๑ º ᗜ º๑) ノ♡ ]

Mild knocking broke them for their memories, they wiped their face with the back of their hand before they faced their visitor. {Y/N}’s shallow expression softened as a tender smile formed on their face to the sight of beautifully arranged flowers and a plush plague doctor.
The person holding the items was none other than Ghost dressed in casual clothing, he wore a skull printed balaclava instead of his usual mask. He had the plush tucked under his arm as he went to close the door behind him, the sweet aroma of roses filled {Y/N}’s senses as the lieutenant stepped more into the room.
They watched as Ghost placed the plush on the foot of the bed before he placed the bouquets of roses into a decorative vase near the window. He pulled up a chair next to their bed, then moved the plush closer to them much to their delight.
{Y/N}’s giggled as they wrapped their arms around the plush, which looked a lot smaller in Ghost’s arms. “I didn’t expect you to be the sentimental type..Thank you, Si. I really love it.” They buried their nose into the soft fleece fabric of its top hat, it smelled like cedar wood and gunpowder with hints of the cigarettes he tried to hide from the team. They felt so relaxed by the smell, the pain they felt once before fading away. {Y/N} turned their head to look in Simon’s direction with a toothy grin on their face, a warm and fuzzy feeling bubbling in their stomach as they held out their hand to him.
Simon hesitated at first but then took their hand, his thumb gently caressed the few scabbed cuts on their knuckles. The smile on their face dropped at Simon’s furrowed brow, their eyes following his eyes as he looked over the bandages that adorned parts of their body. After {Y/N} was admitted for the initial gunshot wound, they were treated for abrasions on their arms and a small gash on their cheek. Simon’s grip on their hand tightened as he couldn’t make eye contact with them, some part of him felt he could have done more to help them.
“Simon, look at me..” {Y/N} lifted his hand placing it over their heart, the steady beat matching the rhythm of the monitor tracking it. “I’m still alive. I’m still breathing, talking, and overall just a tad achy. You beating yourself up over something you can’t control isn’t worth it..”
It was like they were reading his mind, how could someone in their condition be trying to cheer him up. His own heart beat faster than theirs as he fell even more in love with them, he moved to sit on the bed next to them to which they moved closer to him too. He wrapped his left arm around their shoulders with his right hand still firmly on their heart. {Y/N} rested their head on his shoulder as they cuddled into him.
Simon closed his eyes, resting his head on top of theirs, wanting nothing more than this moment to never end. Ever since they got back from the mission, the scenes of them getting hurt replayed in his mind, now all he saw was how happy {Y/N} was to see him. He knew he had to say how he felt, if it wasn’t already clear by how close he let them get to the man behind the mask. Simon lifted his head, taking a deep breath before removing his baklava causing {Y/N} to look up at him in confusion.
“What’s up, Si?”
The man of little words stayed true to his title as his actions spoke louder than words ever could, he captured their lips in a gentle yet tender kiss. Simon practiced how he was going to confess to them but this was far from his original plans (though the idea of possibly losing them made his actions more dramatic). {Y/N} was shocked by his forwardness, they had an inkling their lieutenant felt this way by how he’s been acting lately. They reciprocated the kiss using their open hand to gently cup his face, his slight stubble tickling their palm.
Their kiss only ended due to {Y/N} wincing as they tried to move even closer onto Simon but ended up pulling at their side stitches. “Mmm ooooh..maybe we can rain check any further physical activity until I’m not in the hospital.” They chuckled in pain with a blush in their face.
“I think that’s best, luv..” Simon rested their foreheads together, his deep brown eyes looking into their dazzlingly {E/C} ones. “You mean a lot to me..I don’t say how I feel as much as I should and you make me feel like I can..Will you have me, luv?” Like they could say no to a confession like that, it made them want to cry over how vulnerable Simon was being.
“I’d never dream of getting rid of you, Simon.” {Y/N} sealed their confirmation with a peck on his lips leaning back with a cheeky smile. Simon slipped his balaclava back on before he was tempted to do more canoodling, which would in fact impair their healing process. {Y/N} looked over to the plague doctor plush which was now by the vase of roses, the setting sun giving them a warm glow.
“I never thanked you for the flowers, roses are pretty cheesy but they are still beautiful and smell wonderful.” {Y/N} played with Simon’s hand as they spoke, admiring the various colors complementing the vintage vase provided by the hospital. Simon was too embarrassed to admit he read many articles describing the different meanings each color represented on the train ride from the base to the hospital. Peach roses represent thanks and gratitude, Lavender roses represent unique love, White roses represent innocence and new love, and Baby's-breath represents hope and new beginnings. He was thankful his reddened cheeks and eyes were hidden from their view, though they were too busy admiring the flowers to even notice.
The silence was broken by the sound of the rest of their team entering the room, with Soap taking the lead. He flopped himself onto the side of the hospital with his head on {Y/N}’s lap causing them to giggle at his dramatics. “Duuuccckkiiiee, you almost died..Are you okay?” Soap choked out through his over exaggerated sobs.
“Yes, I’m fine. Sore but fine.” {Y/N} chuckled, running their free hand through his short hair trying to comfort him.
“Damn I owe you so much money..” Gaz spoke up standing on the other side of the bed with Price, he took his wallet out and handed the Captain £120 (about $150 USD). Soap looked up to see what Gaz was talking about, he noticed {Y/N} and Ghost’s laced together as a big smile grew on his face. “Wha–OH SHIT!”

house md christmas episodes ranked with commentary:
s1e5 damned if you do:
overall: 4.5/5
medical case/patient interest/plot twist: 4/5 pretty interesting patient and case plus the copper IUD allergy twist was sooo smart
hilson: 4.5/5 they had christmas dinner together <3
medical malpractice: 2/5. house’s mistakes were rectified by cuddy, minimal antireligious remarks against nuns, no breaking and entering. house prescribed a patient cigarettes.
christmas spirit: 5/5 christmas songs used throughout and a patient was santa. as christmassy as it can get.
s2e9 deception:
overall: 3/5
medical case/patient interest/plot twist: 3/5 interesting concept but the overall twist wasn’t that shocking or interesting and i didn’t really connect with the patient all that much
hilson: 1/5. they have 2 interactions and they’re all cordial but nothing too special.
medical malpractice: 4.5/5 breaking and entering and obvious HIPAA violations. house flirting with lab staff to get what he wants. house falsified blood tests. poor treatment of a suspected mentally ill patient. house drugged a patient outside of hospital grounds with the risk that it could kill her.
christmas spirit: 1/5 just because it’s christmas time and there are decorations and it’s snowing does NOT make it a christmas episode. there is one christmas song at the end but no one says merry christmas. they wasted my TIME.
s3e10 merry little christmas:
overall: 3.5/5
medical case patient interest/plot twist: 4/5 interesting patients and commentary about disabilities and being “normal” and parenting as a disabled person.
hilson: 2/5 tritter arc plus wilson’s betrayal is so… but i love angst. at least they interact this time. wilson refuses to testify against him though. wilson still wants to spend christmas with house “thought you’d prefer people over pills” but house rejects him :( house ODs on oxy and wilson leaves him alone
medical malpractice: 3.5/5 house makes fun of little people. breaking and entering. HIPAA violation plus being rude to a grieving widow but he’s detoxing so i guess it makes sense. house tries to steal oxy from a dead man.
christmas spirit: 4/5 christmas songs used plus lot of decorations plus snow. christmas tree opening and PPTH has a whole nativity scene in the lobby. tritter wishes house a merry christmas.
s4e10 it’s a wonderful lie:
overall: 4/5
medical case patient interest/plot twist: 2/5 didn’t really care but it went along with house’s “everybody lies” philosophy. house performs a christmas miracle yayyy. the twist was cool
hilson: 4/5 “you are so full of love… or something” they’re so :) they interact a lot in this episode. “happy solstice house” :-)
medical malpractice: 3.5/5 why are foreman and taub questioning people?? house and a patient flirt? going through a patient’s computer.
christmas spirit: 4/5 house throws away all the diagnostic room christmas decorations. christmas songs used. secret santa!!! wilson in the reindeer hat!!!!! “you wouldn’t hang dreidels from a christmas tree” “you could”. house singing “god rest ye merry gentlemen”. house had a christmas epiphany!
s5e11 joy to the world:
overall: 3.5/5
medical case patient interest/plot twist: 3.5/5 general patient case isn’t that interesting but the clinic case of virgin conception was CRAZY (even though it was faked by house but whatever)
hilson: 4/5 wilson’s gift and note “greg - made me think of you” and an antique medical book?? that is sooo cute. also the way that wilson lied about a girl giving house the original gift because he was probably embarrassed to admit it was his but then he admitted it hehehe. house didn’t even open the original present.
medical malpractice: 2/5 shockingly minimal but house did fake a patient’s test results just to win a bet with wilson. cuddy does breaking and entering.
christmas spirit: 4/5 christmas music used. house says merry christmas. i mean it’s christmassy but not like that christmassy.

Heyoooo. I wanted to say, I'm sorry about that mean-ass, insulting anon you got a while back. That ask ended up pissing me off so bad I ended up actually reading your Marchil analysis posts. Originally, I was meh and kinda confused when the ship showed up in Ao3 because I didn't see what people liked about it. Reading your posts about how they were narrative foils opened my mind more, and I realized, Oh shit yeah there's a lot of potential in this ship for how these two can develop each other.
Part 2: Marcille and Chilchuck may not have scenes like the infamous bath scene with Farlin, but the concept of someone who's terrified of being alone, the reality of her friends' mortality, a hopeless romantic catching feelings for a repressed, divorced man whose wife left him--okay yeah, I absolutely understand the appeal of this ship. Marcille would be like, Why the fuck is my heart thrumming for this sharp-tongued bitch, and also the terror from falling in love with someone so short-lived Part 3: Either way, love your analysis posts. I am going to be contemplating the potential of Marcille and Chilchuck for a long while. There is something so tragically sweet about it
You get it, you really do… I could list off everything I love about them but I’d be here forever because it’s literally everything and there are so many fun ways to spin it… You’re very right about them being tragically sweet, overall where their arcs meet the most is "Loving is something worth doing even with the risk of loss", and I say risk but really it’s more the inevitable eventuality of it as canon does love to point out. If you want the reward of being loved you must go through the mortifying ordeal of being known. No love however brief is wasted. Let me see you and stay. It’s very much sort of the final boss to their arcs for them to get invested in each other in such a way, to get involved romantically— emotionally with someone knowing what’s coming and that she barely has two decades left with him (who mistreats his health so much he very well could die early), and to shoot your shot for something new with hope in your heart and enough confidence that you’re worth loving. He’s not a prince charming but to her he sort of is, all virtuous husband this reliable dependable Chilchuck that, all "you may be flawed but I’ll still romanticize your qualities and convince you that you and your love for your beloved are something worth fighting for".
What if I was old bread that solidified to be hard as rock and you were like warm soup and by soaking in your presence I softened……… What if you stubbornly grew on me like yeast and it brought out my flavor like beer as I opened up and allowed you in………. What if your hair was golden, the epitome of beauty to me, and my hair turned silver, your worst nightmare……. I think about them a normal amount

Link Click Musical clips list pt.2. (pt.1, pt.3, pt.4, and pt.5 here)
guess who finally learned to navigate bilibili? me. which means i can finally start tracking down moments/clips i (vaguely) remember but has since lost. yeay :D
starting with this beloved trilogy (yes, these are three consecutive Wang Minhui-Cai Qi performances):
23. 09/12/2023, Where Wang Minhui pushes Cai Qi off the table,
24. 10/12/2023, Cai Qi retaliates,
25. 20/12/2023, and finally they both try to push the other off the table only to fail, mess up the rock paper scissors, and can't stop laughing.
And others like,
26. 02/12/2023, bonus to the trilogy above where Cai Qi fell off on his own for no reason.
27. 29/01/2024, Cao Muzhi's birthday, which has so many good moments from him breakdancing(?) to fighting over the mic until both Zhu Hanbin and Xian Dongyue fell from the table, and Cao Muzhi sang the wrong lyrics and confuses Zhu Hanbin (for more context, check out shimmeringweeds reply! thank you!).
28. 29/01/2024 bonus, Cao Muzhi try to math how to cut cake 16 ways. Zhi Bowen suggested cutting 8 slices then cutting it horizontally lol.
29. 31/01/2024, Zhu Hanbin gets his revenge(5) and slaps Ding Xingchen's ass, tbh in general he was pretty aggressive/energetic this performance
30. 08/01/2024, a pretty chaotic and fun one of Bai Zhuoming, Wu Yihan, and Qian Anqi. Voice cracks, giggles, missed lyric, false steps, we gottem all. Even Zhu Jiayan and Zhang Jiahao were cracking. Highly recommend.
31. 10/12/2023 night, thank you shimmeringweeds for finding this clip. Du Guangyi poisoning someone (Teng Chunpeng) for the first time. Bonus for Deng Xianling sitting up in concern and offering Du Guangyi something to drink too. (Also, double failed hearts and singing the last line of guiding light together!)
32. 05/01/2024, Smol Rongbo!!! And Wang Minhui (for there to be smol there gotta also be big) some other stuff also happens like Xian Dongyue aggresively pushing Shu Rongbo's legs off hers.
33. Wang Minhui's 5 minutes vlog, we got glimpses of other scenes, the cast messing around, a tour(?) of the set, and snippets of other songs.
34. 07/01/2024 day, short one of sulky Wang Minhui, very cute 8:)
35. 23/11/2023, Overall, pretty tamed performance but the curtain call? Really chaotic. Wang Minhui messed up Director Li Haolin's name, which I realized is even funnier bcs right before that he messed up Guo Zhenyan's name and Cai Qi gotta intervene. Man cannot focus lol.
yea I waited until we got a clip of this livestream to post this pt.2
36. Faith of Friendship, <- Official, here's a subbed ver. Cai Qi and Wang Minhui did a good job, singing about their first meeting and basketball. The choreo is also really cool and the song too. Got sad when you remember Wang Minhui once said his Lu Guang has witnessed Cheng Xiaoshi's death.
37. Words Can't Convey My Love, this!!! Shu Rongbo as Chen Xiao being absolutely flustered, (trying) and failing to confess to his crush is so cutee with Wu Yihan trying to wingman in the background. The ending is so funny too lol, with Shu Rongbo running away and Wu Yihan shouting at him. The song is good, the choreo is good, Shu Rongbo's voice is also really good.
Nothing related to Link Click but I went on a Wu Yihan binge so have this bonus clip of him being cute in the Love Musical
Enjoy and byee. pt.3 in end of march? mid march? whenever I got a long list of clips I like. Definitely gonna put a 10/03/2024 clip in pt.3 bcs Shu Rongbo and Wu Yihan bday, and also 11/03/2024 bcs Teng Chunpeng bday.

so this is my first time reading Batgirl (TYSM for the guide!) and I'm pretty new to comics in general. I've made it to #41 so far, and I can't help but notice the huge decline in writing from #38 onwards with the change of writers. Maybe it's just exacerbated by how good the previous issues were; but it really feels like Cass drastically went from a rare female character that is actually written with the same respect and depth as the male characters to being turned into a "girl superhero" with boy troubles who gets forced into bikinis and love triangles. Since you seem to know a lot about what was going on behind the scenes at the time, did something happen? I know there's misogynistic/racist men in the industry who hated Cass so I was wondering if that was already brewing back then during her 2000s run
I think when it came post-Puckett era, Dylan Horrocks was faced with a choice: ape off Puckett or try something different with the character.
I'll be honest, the early Horrocks' stuff you're in hasn't aged well. The ideas are interesting, of exploring sexuality and Cass realizing she can "see" what men think of her, and I think the utter realization of Babs making a mistake is good. It's just the overall execution is more of a miss.
The thing is, #41 gives us an excellent in-character reason for her choices. It's just this is all balanced with Bruce being pretty awful to Cass during this period (because this is all in a lead-up to Horrocks "big" story for #50).
Horrocks run can best be summed as: starts "meh" has interesting ideas, but fails to fully execute them well. There are some standoff amazing moments in the comics (I think the Doll Man issue is quite underrated).
Though, you're right. This is the era when Dan DiDio began to rise to power within the DC Comics Company, and it shows during this particular run.
So during this "run" we had A LOT of things happen outside the comic.
#1 Batman: Hush going on, and that story is particularly infamous for neglecting Cass due to story writer Jeph Loeb's distaste cause she wasn't Barbara Gordon (artist Jim Lee, who now currently runs DC too had this idea but since 2020 has softened this stance and realizes the mistake made).
Add this with DiDio's bias toward the Bronze Age "iconic" characters (Barry, Hal, and Babs) you have this growing problem.
#2 Cass DID get to be involved in another comic. The Justice League: Elite maxi-series. Though she didn't show up in THE Batman story, Cass was showing up in two other series at this time. One, well is in my "infamous" Cass reading guide (Batman: City of Light), and JL: Elite.
The later series did a nice job with the "twist" that Cass was on the team and as an agent of Batman spying on them. It is an actually interesting and good story.
#3 This is the era the "editorial edicts" started to come in. So a rather infamous thing during DiDio's reign was editorial edicts that would force changes in comics (leading to some outrageous OOC moments). This happened TWICE in Horrocks' Batgirl run.
At a certain point, Horrocks is told via top brass that he's losing Babs as a supporting cast member and has to write her off the comic. So he has to write a Babs/Cass go their separate ways due to well you'll see.
The other is in regards to Stephanie Brown who'll be back in the comic past #50 (she left the series in #38). What Horrocks didn't know until a Bat summit around this time (where all the Batman book creatives discussed where to take the books in the coming months) is that Stephanie's days were numbered.
She was coming back (and as Robin), but they were killing off the character. Horrocks and Nightwing writer Devin Grayson HATED the idea and objected to it.
Sadly, they were outvoted and well whatever else occurred in those meetings (or after) resulted in Horrocks quitting the Batgirl series and DC Comics itself by #57 (this is why Horrocks' run on the book just ends abruptly with no real end). Horrocks is still currently just enjoying the life of writing and doing Indie comics.
Interestingly, whatever Horrocks said or did it's interesting to note his is the only run never collected fully by DC Comics. Sadly, the only Batgirl issues that were EVER put in a trade were the stuff that made him walk (Batman: War Games, the event that killed Stephanie Brown). That was until the mid-2010s when DC released a HC Batgirl Anniversary trade that also included stories of Bette Kane, Steph, and Cass as Batgirl. #45 (aka Cass wearing Babs' Batgirl costume) is in the trade collection.
Ironically, this bad management editorial would also eventually affect Kelley Puckett (who returns to DC with Supergirl Vol. 5 #23-29, 31-32) around 2008 to 2009 but then ALSO decided to leave DC and comics altogether.
Not those two, but also the writer who'd replaced Horrocks, Andersen Gabrych (who was one of the minds behind War Games). However, I honestly do love Gabrych's run on Batgirl more than Horrocks. It's just the edicts and the rushing toward the end of his run kind of sours it.
I hope all this information is helpful.

I think overall there’s one of two „big“ problems happening for people who have a problem with TOWL (racists and the likes aside… 🙄).
1- The misunderstanding that this was truly much more a Rick and Michonne story than a TWD one. This was not TWD S12. It was about telling the story of these 2 characters and being able to put a dot at the end (or a dot dot dot). And you’ve laid all of that out perfectly. Like yes, in TWD, Beale (& the CRM) would have been draaaaagged out. But this was much more of a Terminus approach than a Saviors one if we will…
2- TWD was never the most ..subtle show. They tended to hit the audience over the head with stuff. And I’m not sure I would go as far as calling TOWL subtle outright either (idk, didn’t think about this until right this moment lol -obviously elements of it are, sure -just as elements on TWD could be on the subtler side) but compared to TWD, it certainly is lol. And there has been a very big „media literacy“ and „basic comprehension skills“ problem happening for a minute now. And I really don’t say this to be mean or make fun of people or anything but these are just facts. Some people really struggle with getting the information when they are not being hit over the head with it, over and over and over again. After the finale I saw several posts on my tl of people wondering why this, that or the other was not addressed or how/why this, that or the other did happen… and I was utterly confused because those things they claimed were missing were very much shown? I was like, there was literally a scene dealing with all of this? And it didn’t require any reading between the lines to be honest, no subtext, it was very much the text of the scene?! So it seems like some people just didn’t get a lot of things that were happening 🫤
(BTW I don’t mean that even if someone didn’t have these specific problems with the show, they MUST love it then. Likes and dislikes etc etc. As much as I really loved the show as a whole, if I decided to put down the Richonne-colored glasses I wanted to and did watch to the show with.. I’d definitely have a few complaints lol, though still very much enjoyed the show even then)
That's definitely what happened. And to some extent, I get why, considering Rick and Michonne are 2/3 of the main show's Big Three. But when the press and promos started, and people were still talking about some Marvel-style meet-up, I was like...oh they're definitely not listening to what's being said, because it's six damn episodes, and also The Richonne story, not the Team Family jamboree. And then acting as if it's somehow 'insulting' to the rest of the characters if Rick and Michonne didn't talk about them. The man had PTSD so bad, he couldn't remember his own son's face. Why would you think it would be good time for him to pause in the middle of his wife telling him about a traumatic moment during her pregnancy to ask about anyone else? Please be fr.
I feel you on the comprehension thing, which is nothing new for this fandom. The fact that so many people legit thought Rick didn't know how to drive stick and questioned the 'realism' of it but never stopped to think that it was because he only has one damn hand. Y'all were fine with every silly ass moment that happened in the main show, that was either sheer dumb luck or handwaved away, but now we need a complete breakdown from experts on how Rick managed to fight off walkers one-handed. Now y'all want the realism, when you've been so giddy for weeks because you need one of them to die for the show to be 'interesting'.
I'm really not listening to people who need the narrative to hold their hand through everything, or need to see every piece of the plot onscreen for it to be considered 'legitimate'. (I'm officially banning the phrase 'plot armor' for the foreseeable future).
People didn't get things, because they don't take a minute to sit with the damn material anymore. From live reactions videos to live tweeting/blogging, people are just watching TV to make content and have an online moment, not for what's actually being shown. And yeah, TOWL isn't perfect, but the minor criticisms I have for it doesn't take away from the fact that it is very enjoyable and easily the best material from the TWD landscape in a long time.
(sidenote: I will say one of my favorite things from these past six weeks is everyone struggling to figure out the overall TWD timeline, lmao.)

2024 Megaman Valentine's Day/White Day Contest Results!
Tumblr media
Hopefully this post won't feel too rushed; it certainly is rare for me to get contest results posted before 2 days have passed. Once again, I thank everyone who drew something for this year's event, as well as those who helped spread the word. Even with a smaller turnout, you guys still made it really hard on me to choose winners. All your art is deserving of praise! I wish I could afford to give you all some prize money! While I am posting this right now a little late into the evening in my time zone, I will be sending all the winners a message about your prize winnings soon enough, later tonight. If you don't see something right away, just know my message is on the way, within the next few hours. After the break, you will see all the pics and this year's winners!
As usual, after each entrant’s name, there will be a link to their entry, too, just in case the inserted images don’t load for you. With a smaller turnout this year, everything has been uploaded into a single imgbox gallery folder. Should be alphabetical by alias for each category, with the first 7 images for Cat. 1, and the last 4 images in Cat. 2.
[Full entry gallery]
CATEGORY 1 (Talent): Black and White Day
For this category, participants were tasked with creating an image celebrating White Day, with the requirement that their art mimic the "rubber hose" art style from around the 1920's. All entries needed to use a black and white or monochrome palette. 1.) HikariLux [Entry] [GB Alternate] $175 Winner!
Tumblr media Tumblr media
A cute scene with Rock presenting Alia with a ring that was made even better by adding an alternate original Gameboy palette pixel version of the same art. That added creativity made an adorable pic stand out even more, to give two different retro vibes to your art.
2.) @eulogysinger [Entry] $100 Winner!
Tumblr media
As an overall scene, your piece felt the most like it was screencapped straight out of a 20's cartoon, so I give you your props on getting your style to match so well! You can feel the movement with the curve in the Big Snakey's necks as Snake Man slides on down to Toad with his candy bouquet gift.
3.) @sylviidaee [Entry] $75 Winner!
Tumblr media
Sure, because of all the Axess storyboard posts I've been doing lately, this trio is probably in my mind more lately. But animating your piece to give it that added life, as the guys bonk each other with their gifts for Mariko, helped boost your entry into the top 3! LOL at the fish crying when Masa gets bonked. And again, style-wise, great job pulling off the rubber hose look.
And the rest of the wonderful entries in alphabetical order by alias: Kaitlin.EXE [Entry]
Tumblr media
Y'arr, that Pirate Man be takin' the girl and a pricey pearl wit 'em. But I bet once Diveye the Sailor Man eats his seaweed, that Pirate has a few punches coming to him. Retro Splashy's design is so cute! Totally a fun scene and creative takes on all three.
Komito [Entry]
Tumblr media
Like a vintage Norman Rock(man)well painting, the diner scene truly gives off the retro vibes, from the checkboard floor to Big Boy waiter Rock in the background. Love the touch of Splashy's straw curving into a heart shape as she longingly stares at Blues.
@wennastudio [Entry]
Tumblr media
I get the vibe of Axl imitating Porky Pig here, saying "That's All Folks!" to end the episode, as he pops out before the fades out. And since you are alphabetically last, it makes your piece even more fitting to close out this category's pics with this cute piece!
CATEGORY 2 (Humor): Showing Some Skins
For this category, entries needed to contain a character wearing an out-of-place holiday-themed skin or outfit that was not Valentine's Day-related, while in a Valentine's Day scene or setting. Being the humor category, the more it makes us laugh, the better! 1.) @aurantia-ignis [Entry] $175 Winner!
Tumblr media
🎵Zero the Snowman was a jolly, happy soul...but are YOU happy, Ciel? I love how Zero took White Day this literally to don this amusing snowman outfit. And out of all the entries for this category, you pulled off the absurdly humorous costume the best.
2.) @drewblossom [Entry] $100 Winner!
Tumblr media
It might just be a simple party hat, but I mean, Bass isn't wrong. Subtle, but I was amused! The heart shaped speech bubble was a nice touch to help sell the dialogue's punch line as well.
3.) AbilityField [Entry] $75 Winner!
Tumblr media
Clever way to show the rush in changing between events, as RiCO is in part Valentine's skin and part Celebration skin dress that are digitally switching. ViA has it much easier throwing on a coat. It's always easier for the guys to get ready, as they say.
4.) Miralie [Entry]
Tumblr media
While Zero and Iris are dressed for the day, X's date does sort of have that Halloween vibe to her, as a witch. While Axl is clearly enjoying Singles Awareness Day...or doing his best Stuart Smalley impression by giving his Daily Affirmation that he's good enough, he's smart enough, and doggone it, Reploids like him.

so Baldur’s Gate is overall really good, but not without criticism, and I’m kinda pissed about Halsin becoming irrelevant and the portrayal of his trauma.
I’ve seen some players calling Halsin’s story boring and two-dimensional, and I wish I could say I disagree with them, but I honestly can’t, and he deserved better than what we got.
I really liked Halsin in acts 1 and 2, but it feels like he just doesn’t have much going for him in act 3. I get that he isn’t an origin character, so he isn’t going to have the same big arcs that the main six get, but it feels like the writers just didn’t know what to do with him after act 2. act 2 was pretty much the conclusion of his character arc, and act 3 is just him hitching along for the ride. the thing is, he isn’t even playable until you’re almost halfway into act 2. he’s only playable when his story is almost over.
the only quest Halsin gets in act 3 isn’t even exclusively his quest. he’s one of several characters who could be kidnapped by Orin. so odds are it isn’t going to be his story in your playthrough. that’s it for him. couldn’t he have a small sidequest, like maybe making amends with the tiefling refugees? what about a quest with Jaheira to find other druids in the city? or what about actually meeting those hastily tacked-on shadow druids? if he doesn’t have his own quest what’s the point of having him in my party anymore?
one thing we do get from act 3 is a new side of Halsin where he’s really uncomfortable about being in the city. he’s in an unfamiliar and overstimulating environment, and seeing the poor treatment of refugees makes him lose hope in humanity. it gets to the point that he actually starts to think that the shadow druids had a point. the character who’s always putting on a kind and brave face is starting to break. that’s a good set up for an arc! sure hope it goes somewhere.
eventually Halsin’s unease about staying in the city causes him to have a complete meltdown. he loses control over his bear form and injures Scratch. when he turns back into an elf, he’s panicking about how the city is making him both physically and mentally sick. he has lost all hope in this world, and he pulls out a dagger and holds it to his chest. that’s a really shocking and evocative scene! who doesn’t love watching the nice guy go apeshit? I’d love to see where this goes for his character.
except, that last scene wasn’t actually Halsin, that was Orin taking his form to taunt the player. so that scene went nowhere. I can’t help but feel like I was robbed. you thought Halsin would have a deep character moment, but you were wrong! it’s just like an “it was all just a dream” ending. and of course that scene only happens if Orin chooses to kidnap him over someone else so there’s a good chance you won’t even see this non-character development. so yeah my take is that that scene should have played out with the real Halsin.
we do get another piece of Halsin lore in act 3, but the way it’s handled is. Bad. very bad, even. and this is where I have to add a content warning for sexual abuse.
so when you get to the brothel, the player and their partner can sleep with these twin drow sex workers. if you ask Halsin to join you, he just drops “yeah I was raped by two drow before lol. they tied me to a bed for three years haha crazy right.” I can’t fault Halsin for using a somewhat jokey tone when talking about his abuse. I also can’t fault him for saying that he even sorta liked it at times, abuse survivors are allowed to have complex feelings about their abuse. the problem is, the story itself is not taking this seriously. as far as I could find, Halsin’s history of sexual abuse is brought up absolutely nowhere else in the game. it’s literally only brought up when Halsin makes that half joking reference to it. the player can’t even ask Halsin about it like “hey man that’s a pretty traumatic thing are you alright?” this whole side of his character is a missable one-off line. where does this hint of backstory lead? why can’t we confront him about this later? there’s a lot you could do with a character who hides how deeply something affected him, but it literally comes off like being raped for three years straight barely affected Halsin at all. it’s such a heavy topic that feels like it was tacked on at the last minute with little thought.
it’s also weird because the game handles Astarion’s trauma with so much more grace. they know how to write a male sexual abuse survivor with the respect he deserves, so why couldn’t they do the same for Halsin? it doesn’t even need to be a whole arc, just some camp dialogue or literally anything.
semi-related tangent: the brothel is a steaming pile of tired tropes. the incestuous sex workers? of course the sex workers are freaks, how original! and the murdered sex worker shoved in the fridge like she’s nothing? never seen that one before! the madam who doesn’t give a shit about the safety of said murdered employee? you really reinvented the wheel there!
idk man just. everything else about this game is really really good, but act 3’s flaws stick out like a sore thumb. Halsin and sex workers deserve better.

OS2xBBS: My Overall Thoughts
This is severely overdue, but I wanted to distance myself from these episodes to make sure that 1) regency bias didn’t seep through and 2) my thoughts don’t get clouded by the cute, swoony moments (all the kissing!) in an attempt to mask deeper plot and characterization issues, and 3) with some difficulty, I try to set aside how desperately I wanted OhmNanon’s reunion with PatPran to live up to the OG series.
So, to address the last item, for the most part OhmNanon’s chemistry was still alive and well, save for a few hiccups. This is a testament to two very experienced professionals. That said, my biggest gripe with these special episodes was the treatment of the Pat and Pran characters that has nothing to do with the actors.
It didn’t feel like a true crossover of two beloved series but instead felt like Pat and Pran’s presence were more like afterthoughts thrown into an ATOTS script. Pat and Pran were merely there to serve Phupha and Tian’s story and that is were I take great issue. In this case, Ohm and Nanon should not have been billed as main leads but rather supporting characters that have extended guest arcs in an ATOTS sequel.
Maybe setting plays a larger role here. I’ve asked myself if I would feel this way if Phupha and Tian got thrown into Pat and Pran’s university life instead. But I can’t imagine a storyline where the inverse of what we got makes sense since PatPran are the more established couple and PhuTian have no reason to leave PPD.
My wish was that instead of a crossover, P’Aof would have let BBS stand on its own even if it meant we got two fewer episodes out of it. While we did get glimpses of Pat and Pran’s life three-years into their relationship, it felt watered down because they weren’t in their own environment but a borrowed one. So, really, more like seeing them while on vacation than anything truly concrete. A lot of ‘what have Pat and Pran been up to and where are they in their relationship’ was left to viewer interpretation, which is all fine and well if what P’Aof had to say about the state of their relationship made any sense.
Fake fighting and cute hijinks aside (Ohm and Nanon can sell these type of scenes in their sleep); what I’m after is the meatier stuff like the end of EP4, the entirety of EP5, EP10, EP11 and EP12. Where is the Pran that got choked up when Pat revealed he ran after him with his guitar; who gripped his hand when Pat volunteered to fake break up to win back Pran’s friends and wordlessly said I’m here to stay. Where is the “but I care about you more” Pran?
And where is the Pat who communicated so openly with his man? Who served as a walking advertisement of what it means to be a soaring green flag to all those who came before and after him? Why was he reduced to an amalgamation of Harry and Lloyd from Dumb and Dumber? Make it make sense, P’Aof. Pat never, ever, not once, came off as a dumb himbo in the OG series, so why was he reduced to that here?
The script could have been so much better, tighter, just more substantial. And we can't even say that P'Aof didn't have the space to include a meaningful story for them; I call bullshit on this notion. There's so much story that you can tell in a single hour. We've seen him do it with the BBS pilot.
It felt like so very little thought went into the BBS side of the story. Does P’Aof not know how to write established relationships in a compelling way? I know this can't be true because he gave us EP12, but why did it feel like he phoned it in with these bonus episodes? It’s like P’Aof knew he had both boys for a limited time and just threw the entire kitchen sink at them and anything that stuck made it into the final cut. Like, he relied heavily on the actors to bring it home for him. And that really wasn't fair to Ohm or Nanon who really did the best they could with what they were given.
I mean, even if he wanted to show the (realistic) cracks in their relationship, there were so many better ways to show this than have Pran essentially running away, avoiding Pat (basically regressing to who he was pre-relationship) and then treating Pat like a bumbling Barney Fife for following him? There was no fire in either of them to fight for or with one another. They were shown to have grown complacent (and dare I say taking each other for granted?) which is so at odds with what we got in the OG series that I was confused at what I was watching onscreen. It did not feel like a continuation of EP11 leading to EP12, in fact it felt very disconnected from their origin story.
Pat Jindapat. What they did to my guy was a travesty. They took away all his depth and cast him in the role of a bumbling idiot. Don't get me wrong, OG Pat had his comedic moments but I felt like OS2 veered so far into the extreme of 'lets bring the funny' that it fell completely flat. It was NOT funny. It was disappointing and sad to see one of my favorite characters reduced to this cartoon version.
More than senselessly reducing Pat to cannon fodder to merely serve as comic relief, I'm upset that Pran's growth from the series was essentially negated to where he became, in some ways, unrecognizable. More than once, it felt like Pran was just tolerating Pat's presence rather than basking or gravitating towards it. Again, so inconsistent for a guy who longed for his man for literal YEARS.
Gone are the days of "I'm done adapting" or adoringly staring at the space Pat used to occupy with heart eyes. I just don't get how we went from that Pran to this Pran to the Pran who readily committed his life to Pat in EP12. This in-between Pran is a stranger to me.
Final words: I'm both grateful that we got extra scenes with our boys but at the same time wish P'Aof had left them untainted.

Back in your inbox to discuss Cyrus bullshit again lmfao. I am normal. Totally normal.
So media literacy decline aside (no really, the reports are scary, less people can interpret nuance and hints), I blame 1) how young most of us were when we first played the games, 2) the OG Diamond and Pearl characterization (because it was a little different than Platinum's) and 3) the Pokemon Anime.
Largely skipping over the age thing because it speaks for itself. A good number of players were probably too young to catch all of the hints or grasp how irrational and emotionally driven Cyrus really was. Like, a legit Trauma Meter for our age group (20s) would be to ask if Cyrus freaked them out, or if they thought he had a point. Whatever the collective's first impression was would've colored YEARS of discussion and content. And I'm pretty sure I remember his reception being negative. Of course, the theory that he wrote the old notebook and that the old man was his Grandpa (meaning Cyrus was an abuse/neglect survivor) always existed. But before USUM and PokeMas added more implications, they were treated as "Just Theories" or after Platinum, retcons. Likewise, I think a good number of the older players WANTED Cyrus to be evil, so they kinda ignored it. Though there was an equal faction WISHING for a well written Sympathetic Villian. They missed Giovanni and had little hope GameFreak could write a worthwhile sympathetic villian because while Maxie and Archie weren't evil, their plan was just so stupid? Maybe it's because I grew up in a rural area at the start of the Going Green era, but I can remember being taught basic ecosystems in like 3rd or 4th Grade Science and learning that major changes to the environment were bad? And they were supposed to be super smart scientists?
On to game characterization, D/P Cyrus and Platinum Cyrus were portrayed slightly differently and I don't know if it was intentional or not, given how subtle the changes in the overall story were. But it boils down to a matter of A Means to an End, where D/P Cyrus seemed like he was changing the world to become a God, while Platinum Cyrus wanted to change the world and has to become a God to do so. Likewise, I don't think the implications that Cyrus was the abused/neglected grandson of that Old Man and the author of the old notebook were as strong. Also every scene with Cyrus in the Distortion World didn't exist in D/P so you didn't witness his breakdown or him admitting to his own faults. Charon/Pluto also wasn't in D/P, nor was the Rotom Room which was the first thing to give the "Cyrus wrote the Old Notebook Theory" any credibility.
My last reason was the Poke Anime and I talked a bit about it in a comment the other day. I have since looked it up and the D/P Anime aired the same day as the D/P Game Release, in Japan at least. So the 2nd most prevalent and remembered version of Cyrus is an ASS. The Anime did a great job of showing us the double life he was living, smiling and dressing/acting normal, albiet hammy, in front of Cynthia and that one old lady. But for a cold, stoic villian, he was super agressive, loud, short-tempered and dismissive in the anime. In that clip you shared, he wasn't calmly explaining why fighting was useless, he was about to snap on his admins. He yelled at someone else to (Ash I think). So it didn't even do a good job of portraying him as the kind of villian he was supposed to be, though this may have been because the series ended in 2011, so it may have been affected by the Platinum retcons.
But yeah, I'm also kinda sad about how people see Cyrus, but it isn't surprising. For everyone who "grew out of" pokemon or just never played Platinum, USUM, PokeMas or BDSP, they have to go back and relearn everything and not everyone does that. Nor will everyone want to because again, some people wanted Cyrus to be genuinely evil. And even if they do want to learn what changed and are open to it, they have to sift through years of content saying he was actually that bad.
It was a nightmare explaining to two of my homies why I was suddenly trying to write fanfic and draw fanart of him because they didn't get the memo.
Quick correction - It is not a theory that the old man is Cyrus's grandpa. It's confirmed from my understanding. Which it means Cyrus is likely an abuse victim (though, what Cyrus was going through was never entirely specified. Just that it was bad enough to concern his grandfather.)
I will note that his characterisation did change between Diamond-Pearl and Platinum (and now BDSP has introduced younger people to the pre-Platinum story), so I will give them that. But specifically, I was on the USUM battle theme still seeing it. (Interestingly, not at all on the BDSP rendition, though. Maybe because it's just Sinnoh fans who already know everything.) One of the top comments was ironically a joke about him seeing the Rotom Dex and wanting to kill everyone.
I think his character is really just generally misunderstood because of how subtle everything was is what I was originally trying to say. Like you said, some of it is general literacy issues. It just makes me sad to see him so misunderstood... I think Game Freak did a really good job writing him. Though, he does clearly read as emotional in both Diamond-Pearl and Platinum. At least, seeing his little chibi march up to you in BDSP after you ruin his plans really shows how emotional he truly is. While the Rotom Room journal is clearly only a theory, I do truly think he is the only logical character who fills that role so well. (Charon 100% would use Cyrus's childhood trauma journal for its precious Rotom research without a doubt seeing how quick he was to try to take over Team Galactic.)
I am glad that they gave him depth rather than just making him a generic bad guy... Actually, considering that Platinum was just before BW (well, a few years but development wise, I mean), I think it might have been their first steps into more character driven plots. I do hope people end up looking more into Cyrus, but I know he isn't the most popular villain at all. (I believe that crown goes to either Archie or Guzma. Or. Well. Lusamine, actually, probably.)
I convinced my friend by telling her about the Rotom Room stuff, actually. She already liked Cyrus since she is super into Sinnoh, but apparently, learning that he was besties with Rotom when he was a child sold her. Now she bravely helps me write for him sometimes lmao. My other friend, however... She still doesn't believe that he's actually 27.
Tumblr media
Granted. Youtube comment section opinions should probably always be discarded.
Except maybe... This one. This is the only good and acceptable one lmao

When it Needs Fixing (Steter, Teen Wolf, 3,339)
Hostile Takeover (Steter, Teen Wolf, 2,781)
Absolution (Steter, Teen Wolf, 2,691)

Warning, She Bites (Wyler, 464)
Impressing Wednesday Addams (Wyler, 387)
5. Do you respond to comments?
Sometimes. I reply when I have something meaningful to add. Otherwise it'd get very repetitive and generic and that kind of soulless connection isn't really the point of this kind of thing. I adore my comments nonetheless and I read them a lot.
6. What's the fic you wrote with the angstiest ending?
Hold on. I gotta skim my list.
update: i do not remember some of these fics or what happened in them
Maybe Modi the Brave (MCU, Thorki). This was an angsty fanfic of a fanfic. There was a happy ending in the original fic, The Rescue by madwriter223
I'm not counting Absolution because it was immediately followed by a sequel. But technically, it did get me the most angry sobbing comments which i treasure to this day.
The Final Straw was angsty but it was also dumb and half-cocked and the closest thing to an embarrassment on this account. It was literally just a half-thought half-scene of my 18yo self's emotional state in 2018 that is very evident that I wrote this angrily in study hall. I wrote a lot of fic in that high school during classes. Like a lot. It was my school computer. I got plenty of use out of it. There was no structure or coherent plot. I didn't even hint at anything deeper to be explored in your own minds. I didn't want to look at it long enough or think about it long enough. I just wanted it out of my head. If I didn't have a strict no deleting my works policy, or hiding from my past art policy, I would probably have deleted it within the week of posting. I do not understand how it has the kudos, subscriptions, and bookmarks that it has. I guess it resonated. Good for y'all. I mean it.
Literally just the entirety of Tyler's Bad Year is meant to be about a very traumatic time in a young man's life and him surviving it. I'm not going to go through them and try to pick out "the worst" one. That's not really the point and it'd be largely subjective.
I'll Eat You Raw has an angsty ending but angstiest? I'm not sure.
I don't write a lot of bad endings. Open endings? sure. Complicated endings? Absolutely. But unhappy endings? No. I don't often have the desire.
7. What's the fic you wrote with the happiest ending?
Jesus fuck we want to be here all day? Ok lemme look through shit again.
Wandering in the Dark has a whole story behind it. There was actually two versions. Only one was posted to ao3 and is the "canon" version. I wrote this fic for a high school assignment my senior year. We were assigned to pick a chronic disease out of a literal hat, then write a story around it. We had complete creative control so I took that chance to write teen wolf steter fanfic in class and actually have it be on task for once (I got an A in that class btw). The reason my teacher got a dark ending version is because by the time he got back to me on the maximum word count, I'd already finished the canon version and it was way too long. I couldn't trim the fat, so I wrote a different ending to shorten the story. That version is one of the angstier stories I've written. The one posted and linked above, is the very happy by comparison. This fic is also designed to be read by someone who doesn't know shit about teen wolf.
Through Thick and Thin was also extremely happy. As is Her Monster. Benevolent Gods was meant to be very hopeful. The Hale Pack (Undying) was the end to a series that was my baby for a long time . Like long enough you can see my writing evolve as you go. Part one was one of the first things i ever wrote. Like ever. The last part was years later. Jasper was meant to be a very light-hearted, happy story as well. It's extremely sweet and fluffy. You was also very happy and the epilogue cemented that happiness. Warning: She Bites literally had a happy end that unknowingly prevented a main character committing suicide in the near future. Saving lives by being horny. Wednesday Evening, and every installment in that series, is excessively happy as well.
Alright I ran through my list of fics. These were the ones that stood out. There's too many to really commit to one answer tbh. Especially because the way they're happy varies.
8. Do you get hate on fics?
Not really. Or. Well. I'm sure I do. I block antis on sight and I wholly reject purity culture, and I haven't really been the target of a major attack or anything. I don't get as many hateful comments as one might think, and I don't entertain the ones I do get. I've been accused of vile shit of course because of a fic I wrote. I don't remember what fic or even what ship it was for because I don't dwell on them really at all. Aside from that, I get more entitled but probably ignorant to how they come off as entitled comments that aren't really that big a deal. Just a bit of a peeve sometimes. I honestly think the majority of them truly believe it's a kind gesture when they say it.
9. Do you write smut? What kind?
Yeah. You could say that.
What kind? In a word? Intense. I could make a joke or a long elaboration on my niche in hyde sex and whatnot, but at the end of the day, intense. Even my most laid back, domestic, slice of life fics have a sense of intensity to them because otherwise I get bored and it feels soulless and it's just not my writing style.
10. Do you write cross-overs?
When I feel like it. When I have an idea.
11. Have you ever had a fic translated?
Yes! I have a steter fic on a russian fic website that was translated years ago. I have no idea which it was or if it's still there. Wait! I might remember. Yeah no. I don't remember. It wasn't the one I thought of.
12. Have you ever cowritten a fic before?
No. I've started to outline one before but it went nowhere and we both forgot about it.
13. What WIP you would like to finish, but doubt you ever will?
Harry Potter and the Night that Changed Everything.
I had a whole novel basically planned for it. Writing Bellatrix and a Harry who was raised by Bellatrix took a lot out of me emotionally, and I lost steam.
Also, a Bella Swan/Marcus Vulturi fic that i also had a novel length plot planned out, wrote three chapters for, and then lost steam when I left the fandom due to getting the life sucked out of me by a bunch of toxic people in the fandom killing my joy. Those chapters are just collecting dust in my files right now. I'd like to go back to it one day and finish it in some form or another. Maybe it's original enough I could actually just write an original novel out of the scraps I already have. Actually, to be honest, it is probably original enough that I could write it as an original story. There is not a lot of Twilight there that is necessary to the story and can easily be written out. Something to think about maybe. Ironically not the first prompt I thought up initially for Twilight that I then realized nothing about Twilight was necessary for the idea I had, and I just wrote it without Bella entirely. This is how my original zombie novel started and then immediately evolved into an entirely different thing that has nothing to do w Twilight. Like literally nothing. I had to work to put the Twilight into that one. Not the other way around.
14. What's your all-time favourite ship?
wyler (steter and tomarry honorary).
15. What are your writing strengths?
Dialogue and characterization
16. What are your writing weaknesses?
pacing. movement heavy scenes. Longer projects if only because I have less practice at them.
17. Thoughts on writing dialogue in another language for a fic?
Yeah. If it fits, I'll write it. I won't pretend to be fluent, but I'll do my best. Probably won't do anything too complicated for the sake of realism of my abilities. Especially if it's not Spanish which I at least have spent time trying to learn.
18. First fandom you wrote for?
Teen Wolf
19. Favourite fic you've ever written?
Listen...
We've established how well I am at picking one end all number one.
Fuck ok. back to the list.
Water of the Womb was one I was planning to write for almost a year and it turned out pretty good I think. Actually no.
No. It's not a fic that's been posted yet.
I think the favorite fic I've ever written is I Bit Him So He's Mine. it's my "Wednesday is a Hyde season one rewrite au". It's my first novel that is more than just a future novel. It's hit 40k and I have to start Act 2 still. It's my first proper murder mystery where the mystery is the primary plot equal to the romance. I've had a lot of fun with it, I've put my heart and soul into it, and I really look forward to calling it ready to post. Once it's done, you guys are getting regular updates for a long time.
20. What fic would you want to rewrite one day?
Out of the Fire haunts me. It was a lesson to learn. I had the desire to write a steter/hannigram crossover and zero plan of any kind outside that. It crashed and burned because I only had a first chapter in me. I recently met a local and successful author who recognized my ao3 username because of this fic and remembered me years later enough to compliment my writing (I cannot express how much that meant to me). Wait no that might have been Mark of an Angel which also haunts me, but I didn't have zero plan. I had almost no plan, and lost steam when I hit a creative block at a bad time. Normally, I'd have just sat down and workshopped a starter outline and wrote myself out of that block, but I lost steam so I never did. Different deal. Not as impactful in my creative journey. Out of the Fire, however, was very important to me because of why it failed, and remains very influential with every new project I start. Actually rewriting/finishing that project would be a defining moment for me as a writer, I think. At least to me personally.
