While you were tending Abby — whose eyes were completely shut and sleeping soundly, your thoughts waved to the question Ellie left off.
"Why did y'all even break up?"
You and Abby became friends in the summer heat. Meeting in the neighbourhood, you just moved in.
She greeted you with a whole smile on her face, that is because she "saw a new best friend" , the little Abby would say.
Despite your very introverted little self, you openly welcomed Abby in your life. Without you realising time has passed.
Shockingly, that's how your friends told you, Abby confessed first. It was at the favourite place you both loved to stay at. Watching the sunrise or sunset while eating ice cream.
It was… romantic.
You never thought Abby had it in her, that's why tears started swelling in your face. Of course she started panicking and rambling stuff that you didn't understand because you kissed her in the middle of it.
You were such a romantic too.
Five years after being officially together with Abby, you finally graduated college. Meanwhile, Abby was still stuck in the hell of the medical field. Yes, you took a different path than Abby, focusing more on business.
And that's where things started to be a blur.
You and Abby fought.
No one knew what it was about, and you were starting to forget it too.
"I told you. I never saw her that way."
"Then why did I see you kissing her!"

(I'm in some stage of dnd grief, I need to put this into words, sorry) (SPOILERS e93)
Ha, remember when we thought Bells Hells and Crown Keepers were going to meet... something tells me they were never going to. And not just because of table capacity alone or even DM juggling.
Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist, it's how it had to play out without having a super deep meaning behind, but I don't think she was being cruel for the sake of it. Aabria had an objective and it was to break the party apart. Either in plot or real-life scheduling or public reception, they couldn't continue existing.
There's also a big overlap now with Dariax, Deni$e, and Deanna (I swear, how is this not a bit...) existing in the same universe where we need either DMs and we got Opal.
Sometimes I gotta remember these beats are not accidental, they weren't summoned randomly and these aren't unplanned games. I believe what happens in-game is her doing, she's just given a point A and point B and how she makes it there is her and the players' job to figure out.
And knowing the players she has and the very limited time they were given to tie this up, she couldn't allow dicking around or skirting past the consequences of their choices and they've been pretty big choices.
Like Calamity, there was an ending we needed to reach - Dorian was going back to BH and going back alone - we just happened to trail the most tragic path possible there.

I can't keep any rose colored glasses on and pretend#it was all peachy and we know these games are big investments#and if it isn't giving them back the value invested...#I'M NOT SAYING IT'S THAT REASON ALONE#I think it also opens way for more Exandria Unlimited content bc to move on to something#other than the crown keepers once again while their knots lied untied wouldn't make sense#and since they knew not everyone was going to watch a separate episode of the CK#they had to shoehorn it INTO the campaign#I'm NOT saying this with any happiness in my heart. Obviously their best bet for a spell to bring Laudna back is, at the moment, Raise Dead since it’s 5th level, only costs 500 gp, and has a 10 day limit (though Gentle Repose is staving that off). The order in terms of logistics would likely go Revivify, Raise Dead, Resurrection, True Resurrection. I guess Reincarnate is there too but idk it’s a weird spell. It’s like Raise Dead except you roll for a whole new body so idk.
True Resurrection is obviously unlikely since it’s a 9th-level spell and requires 25,000 gp BUT according to the spell “if the creature was undead, it is restored to its non-undead form” and the image of Laudna being brought back as her pre-Briarwood self is so emotionally charged I don’t even know what to think about it.
