Appreciate that 2022 and 2023 are the years of Brendan Fraser, Ke Huy Quan and Michelle Yeoh.
Growing up I loved Brendan Fraser so much, that man was in so many movie I adored and the world doesn't deserve him after the way he was treated but he is still there moving forward and finally being recognized by his talent.
Data was always my favorite character form the Goonies and watched the movie so many times just for him, seeing that kid crying tears of joy cause the representation in cinema has gotten better (it still can be improved) to the point he was able to come back to acting and people recognize how he nails his performances is beautiful.
And the legend that is Michelle Yeoh, her face is in so many of my favorite films and is honestly one of my favorite actresses of all time. Can't say how happy I am that she is finally getting the love and recognition she is owed ❤️
I'm normally the person that says that we shouldn't idolize movie starts, but sometimes we can make exceptions.
“I'm Janelle Monáe and my pronouns are she/her/they/them and free-ass motherfucker. But to her, mother figure like my character Teresa, to an abandoned LGBTQIA+ person, because the family they were born into won't accept them, I see you. To her, working in STEM like Mary Jackson whose brilliant mind continues to advance the technology of this world that you are still fighting for equal pay, I see you. To, like Helen, risking your life every day to teach our kids because we still can't get gun-control together in this country, I see you. To her, with big ideas, like Andi, who constantly has to deal with billionaire douchebags with no original ideas parading around his genius, I see you.”
Janelle Monáe accepts the SeeHer Critics’ Choice Awards
I'm crying. It's not only for the award. It's for his smile. His emotions. His tears. He deserves this and other awards but the most he deserves to know that is loved. Grateful for this moment of joy, grateful for the Brenaissance ❤️🩹🫶🏼🥹 Love you Brendan ❤️
