“i'm so over today. freaking dumb ass people and their dumb ways of thinking. how can i give you a refund on something you used months ago!?” you mumble to yourself as you throw your bag on the floor and kick your shoes off.

your commotion makes hyunjin jump in his seat. he puts down his paintbrush and wipes his hands on an old tee. he peeks his head out of the studio door, brows furrowed together as he notices how stressed and unamused you look.

“fucking people. i don't get paid enough to deal with the bs.” you continue to grumble. you go to flop down on the sofa but a pair of strong and warm arms pulls you out of your bubble and back down to reality.

“oof!” you grunt as hyunjin pulls you into his chest. he rocks you side to side, stroking your hair softly.

“rough day?”

“you could say that.” you laugh bitterly before melting into hyunjin's chest.

“want to talk about it?”

"yeah, that'd be nice.” you whisper.

“ok. but go take a shower first.”

“trying to say i smell?!” you look up at him. hyunjin thinks for a split second and nods. you scoff and gently slap his chest. “ok ok, finee.”

you push yourself off him and walk to the bathroom. you do your usual shower routine, feeling a hundred times better and more relaxed in your comfy lounge wear.

you open the door to the bathroom and walk to the living area, gasping at how it currently looks.

the coffee table moved to the side to make room for two cushions and a blanket. candles lit up in the room with the tv on low volume. hyunjin dressed in shorts and his robe, his hair up on a half ponytail.

on the coffee table are two glasses of wine, bowls filled with your favourite snacks and treats, two facemasks and other spa inspired items.

hyunjin looks up at you as he pours you a glass before setting the bottle on the table. he gives you a warm grin before walking to you.

“what is this?” you whisper, still in awe.

"thought the best way to help you relax was to have a spa day!”

“you did all this in the time i was in the shower?” hyunjin nods and grins, clearly impressed with his handiwork. “that's impressive.”

“haha, thank you! now come and relax.” he guides you to the cushions. you sit down cross legged as he hands you a glass of wine.

“thank you.” you take the glass and take a big sip of it.

“easy there tiger. at least wait until food arrives.” he laughs

“you ordered food?”

“yeah, your favourite!”

“god i fuckin' love you.”

“i love you too.” hyunjin puts down his glass and grabs a face pack and a headband. he hands you the band and waits until you have finished putting it on.

he opens the pack and gently puts it on your face, soothing it out with his fingers. you hum softly at the refreshing coolness of the pack. you close your eyes slowly and sip your wine as you relax.

“all i need is some cucumbers on my eyes.” you mumble. hyunjin laughs softly before putting a mask on himself, relaxing beside you and sipping his wine.

“so, tell me what happened.”

“ugh. well–” you go on a rant and rave about work, about the customers, managers and bosses. the more you talk, the more annoyed you start to feel. hyunjin simply nods his head and listens to you.

he's good like that. he won't interrupt you in the slightest and just let you go on. once finished, does he soothe you with some kisses and hugs.

halfway through your long rant, the doorbell rings. hyunjin answers the door to the food delivery guy, forgetting about his mask. the delivery guy gives hyunjin a shocked face before laughing when hyunjin explains the situation.

he walks back to you, explaining what just happened. you laugh and make jokes about it, forgetting about your rough day at work and why you were so angsty to begin with.

“thank you, hyun.” he looks at you as he peels off his mask.

“for?”

“for this. i appreciate it greatly.”

"no problem! i hate seeing you distressed so this is the least i can do for you.” you hum softly and take your own mask off.

after eating the food, hyunjin gives your hands a massage and even paints your nails. you do the same, matching the colour he has given you. you both enjoy each others company and enjoy what he has done for you.

you can't believe how lucky you are.

“strip.” you blink at his sudden request before noticing the bottle of massage oil in his hand. you strip yourself of your tee, resting on your stomach with your chin on your hands.

hyunjin straddles you and pours the lotion onto your back. you shiver at the coldness which makes him laugh.

“wasn't expecting a massage, hyun.” you giggle

“it's not a spa session without a massage!”

"mhm, i guess you're right.” you grin before groaning. his thumbs dig into your tense back muscles, fingers working their magic on you.

you squirm underneath him, moaning and groaning. hyunjin swallows thickly as something so innocent is sounding so lewd to him. he feels himself heat up and his groin to feel warm.

“babe.. please, can you keep the moaning to a minimum.” he begs.

"but your fingers feel so good, hyun.” you grunt innocently as he digs into your muscles.

"yn.. please..” he huffs. you ignore him. hyunjin bites his lip hard, his penis twitching several times.

“h-hyunjin.” you moan softly.

“fuck.” you squeal as he turns you on your back suddenly. your eyes widen as you look up at hyunjin. his eyes filled with lust as he licks his lips, ready to devour you.

“you're doing this on purpose yn. you must really enjoy riling me up.”

I missed your smile too

Alright everyone, come get your yummy bread crumbs!

Lucifer was pacing back and forth in his room full of rubber ducks. That fight with the hotel's busboy really got to him. What was his name again? Doesn't matter. He stops when he sees a duck that looks like Charlie. He picks it up, beginning to rant aloud.

"That busboy is insane! He really had the fucking nerve to call him your dad to my face! Me! Lucifer!The King of Hell! Your real dad! Your flesh and blood! Your kin! He can't possibly think he's a better dad than me!? No one in Hell is a better dad than me!" He paused, looking down at the Charlie duck. "Right?"

The duck of course didn't respond.

He lets out a pathetic sigh, holding the duck close and flopping on his bed. Who was he kidding? Anyone would be a better dad to Charlie than him. He was barely in her life! He doesn't know her favorite drink, her favorite color, anything! He didn't even know she had a girlfriend until today!

Lucifer rolled over, shoving his face into a pillow with a groan. He was the worst dad in the universe!

The sad little man looked up from his pity party when he heard a soft knock on the door. He quickly gets up, clumsy running around and fixing his appearance. "Uh- C-come in!" He answered once he looked mostly presentable.

Charlie opens the door, peaking around the messy room. She doesn't remember there being this many ducks.

Lucifer stared at her in complete shock. His daughter? Here? HIS DAUGHTER WAS HERE!!!

He coughs, trying to act cool. "Heeeey, Char-Char! What- what are you doing here? Couldn't get enough of your old man today, eh!" He rubs the back of his neck. What do you do in a situation like this? It's been years since Charlie came to visit him. Did she somehow know he was thinking about her?

Was the princess psychic this entire time!?

Charlie carefully steps into the room. "Hey, dad. Nice ducks?" She picks one up to examine. The ducky flipped in her hand before it suddenly started spitting fire. "AH!-" She yelps, dropping the duck and jumping away in fear.

Lucifer freaked out. "CHARLIE I'M SO SORRY THAT DUCK WAS A NEWER ONE I KNEW IT WAS STUPID PLEASE DON'T HATE ME-" He was cut off when Charlie placed a comforting hand on his shoulder.

"Deep breaths, dad. It's ok. I don't hate you. I never hated you." She helps him get his breathing normal as she leads him to the bed.

They sit down, Charlie taking her dad's hands in hers. "I just wanted to thank you for... Everything. I know we were... Distant- But today was a huge step forward!" His daughter smiles, and Lucifer had to hold back tears. "You're an amazing dad. I wouldn't want anyone else."

That did it. That broke the camel's back. He choked on a sob, pulling the sweet princess into a tight hug. His daughter really was psychic!!

Charlie hugged back just as hard. She didn't like seeing her father cry. A frown wasn't a good look on him. Like Alastor says: You're never fully dressed without a smile!

And she knew just the trick to bring his back.

Without any warning Charlie pulls back and tackles her dad.

"Oof! Wha- Charlie! What are- Oh no. Nononono!" His eyes widen with panic from the mischievous smirk on her face.

"Who's this Charlie you speak of? I'm.... The Tickle Monster! Rawrrr!" She broke character for a second to giggle. Lucifer used to use this trick on her when she was sad, so now she's returning the favor! She formed her hands into claws and wiggled them above his stomach. "I'm here to feast!" She growled in a deep funny voice.

Lucifer panicked more, but he also felt a mixture of silliness and pride. It's been a long long time since him and Charlie played together. He thought she wouldn't remember this game. His smile turned wobbly, deciding to play along. "Pl-please, Miss T-tickle Monster! Have m-hehehercy!" He was already starting to giggle.

Charlie broke character again to squee in pure happiness. She didn't actually expect him to go along with this! She clears her throat, putting back on her scary tickle monster persona. "Silence! My meals don't talk!" She dives in, attacking his belly with many scribbles and pokes. "They laugh!"

Luci squealed, bursting into high-pitched giggles. He grabs onto Charlie's wrists, but he made no move to push them away. "Chahaharlie! Ihihit tihihickles!"

Charlie couldn't help but to coo at her dad. "That's the point, ya goober! And that's Miss Tickle Monster to you!" She moved up higher to pinch at his ribs.

The King of Hell's giggles turned into full on laughter. He kicked his feet and squirmed, still not trying to get away.

"My, these ribs give off some tasty laughter! I must have more!" With each pinch she made a nomming noise like she was actually eating his laughter.

Lucifer flushed at the silliness of it all. He had to admit, this was making him feel better. It's been so long since he had a good laugh, and the anxiety from earlier melted away with each "nom."

Charlie stopped to give her father a quick break. "Mmm! Those ribs were delicious! Now I'm craving something for dessert!"

Lucifer froze. He knew what that meant. Still, he didn't want to ruin the fun. He pretended to be curious. In reality, he was preparing himself for what's to come. "What would that be, Miss Tickle Monster?"

"Raspberries!" The Princess leaned down, blowing a huge raspberry on Lucifer's tummy.

Luci went absolutely crazy with laughter! He even let out a few snorts! "OHOHOHO GOHOHOHODNEHEHESS!!" He shook his head, covering his blushy face.

Charlie was delighted by his reaction and laughed along with him. She blew a few more raspberries before deciding he had enough and falling onto the bed next to him. "You alright there, dad?"

"Ihih'm fihihine!" Despite still being giggly he felt great!

Soon enough, they were both taking a well deserved nap.

"That's good. I really did miss your smile too, dad." She hugs him, snuggling into his side.

Hey!! I just wanna say I love ur Raph au so much!! What was ur design process for his outfit? Like with inspo or references, it's so beautifully drawn!!

oof ok i am gonna do my best not to start ranting here lol

I knew from the beginning what kinda vibe i wanted for his outfit, and knew I'd need to include some kind of red in the color scheme. A huge inspiration came from another AU, actually! Mutant Ninja Midlife Crisis gave their Future!Leo a really cool Battle Nexus outfit that I wanted to kinda emulate but not straight up copy (I'm still worried it's too similar ngl). The main element I liked was the way they described the flowiness and design details, and if you look it up on tumblr there's a bunch of interpretations that people have drawn him in

these were my first two designs where I was just playing with colors and specific elements. I basically took the color scheme/inner shirt of the first, the arm wrappings/vibe of the second's red highlights, and mashed the two together until I got the final product!

And of course the cloud details came later, which were inspired by the Chinese/Japanese (is it both? i'm not sure) style of drawing clouds but simplified a bit.

Another inspiration came from looking up traditional samurai uniforms (ones without their armor), but that had minimal influence (I used that inspiration way more for the rest of the Hamatos when I designed their own Raph-inspired fits)

Some Wooley and Crys softness been sitting on since Xmas cuz I wanted to put a little bit of a story with it, under the cut…

“Crys…you good vod?”

Of course he was good, what a strange question, Crys thought.

“Yeah? You?” He replied, not looking up from his task. The task he’d been doing for the last two hours and hadn’t made any progress on. He felt, more than saw Waxer shift. He probably had a dumb concerned look on his face too.

Crys looked up.

Yup there it was. Force love him.

“Listen, Wax, I gotta get these mousers up and running before end of shift, the naties’ve been complaining about the trash piling up on level…”

“Just got word Marsh’s lartie landed,” Waxer interrupted, a slight lilt to his voice. He began picking at the various MSE parts haphazardly peppering Crys’ workbench.

Crys’ breath hitched, and he swears he wasn’t trying to knock Waxer over. He just happened to be between him and…where he needed to go.

“Sorry Wax!” Crys shouted over his shoulder as he disappeared down the corridor.

He’d made his way from the tech shop to the hangar bay a thousand times before, but sometimes, sometimes on the way he forgot his left from his right. He had a lot to think about, not his fault, really.

“Kriffing hells,” Crys grumbled as the corridor dead-ended at the freshers. He scrubbed hands over his face in frustration, his ears perking up at the approaching dull clank of armored, heavy, and deliberate steps. He hoped it wasn’t anyone looking to chat.

“Thought I’d find you here,” came a voice from somewhere behind him, quiet and a bit raspy.

Crys wasn’t going to admit that his pulse sped up or that he was trying to suppress the grin spreading across his face as he turned to look.

Wooley was back.

“Oof, careful Cr—,” said Wooley, barely catching Crys as he leapt into his arms.

Still wearing his full ARC kit, and running on the fumes of just an hour’s sleep, Wooley staggered a bit trying to keep both of them upright, clasping his hands together under his partner’s butt.

Never one for hiding physical affection, Crys pressed soft kisses to the top of Wooley’s head, forehead, and nose, ending with a soft kiss to his lips, whispering “missed you a lot” between each peck.

“Same,” Wooley smiled and whispered back, pressing his forehead against the other’s, sighing in contentment.

“You sound tired. D’ya at least sleep during transit?” Crys asked, already knowing the answer.

“Course I didn’t. You’ve been on the Jai’galaar before” Wooley rolled his eyes, shifting his grip on Crys to find better balance. “Not sure when, but one of these days Marsh is…”

“...going to be grounded,” Crys continued, mimicking Wooley’s exasperation. “If he hasn’t been yet, love, he’s not going to be.”

Hoping to distract his partner from the familiar post-op rant, Crys began running fingers through Wooley's hawk, his nails catching lightly in the tiny knots that formed after days in a helmet. He delighted in the shiver he felt from Wooley as he smoothed palms over the scruffy grow out on either side of his head.

“He must have something on someone that he’s still flying is all I’m saying,” Wooley huffed.

Crys gave him The Look that meant ‘I’m done with this, let’s move on.’

Wooley shrugged, smiling like he’d been chastised by a trainer, and made to set Crys down, keeping his arms wrapped around him as he did.

“You done with your shift?” he asked.

“Nah, not yet,” Crys replied. “Soon-ish, though, just one more mouser to fix and…aww come on, that’s not fair!”

Wooley had lowered his head, looking up at him through dark eyelashes, his lip stuck out in a pout.

“Wooley I have to…” Crys tried to argue. “Alright, ok, the natborns can wait one more day for their karking MSE.”

“Thought so,” Wooley replied, grabbing Crys’ wrist and leading him down the corridor towards the ARC barracks.

Crys fidgeted in the cold of the bunk room as he waited for Wooley to return from the freshers. The blue glow of his data pad was all that illuminated the small bunk space and was doing a fine job of planting the seeds of a headache. Didn’t matter, he needed to find something that would distract him from the thought “What if he didn’t come back” that had wormed its way into his head.

But Wooley did come back. He always came back and…

He felt the bunk dip behind him as warm arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him - rather un-gracefully - to sit between undersuit-clad legs.

“I could hear you thinking all the way in the fresher,” Wooley whispered in his ear, squeezing Crys around the waist. “I’m safe, you’re safe. That’s all that matters.”

“Yeah, but…” Crys started.

“Nope, not tonight. Tonight is for us,” Wooley replied, tugging the datapad from Crys’s hands.

“That was cheesy,” Crys teased, settling against Wooley’s chest, the warmth of the contact instantly relaxing his keyed up muscles.

“You love it,” Wooley replied.

“I do,” said Crys, snuggling in closely.

I watched the One Piece live action and here are some notes I took.

I'm a huge One Piece fan since I was like 10-ish? And so, I have a lot of thoughts and feelings about it. It had a lot of impact on my personality (Nico Robin is my role model). This live action adaptation matters to me and I'm going to rant. Spoilers ahead.

The director is a woman, and one of the two writers is a woman. Manga and anime are male dominated hobby (and the comic's world is sexist), so the live action of the most popular shōnen being run by women is so great, imo. Also, it's pretty successful, in contrary to other attempts, so it's a win for women.

Garp's actor is a very handsome man. Wtf, they made Garp hot. He also has a beautiful Welsh accent, which is great because it's an accent that gives a "tough guy" impression. At least, it does for me.

Luffy's actor is perfect. This Luffy is slightly different from the original one, but he's perfect in his own way. I will die and kill for him. Also, him being brown with a white grandpa is so good, it had a racial gap between the two of them, where there are already a generational one and a moral one. Like, the white grandpa in the army do not understand how his brown grandson do not like the gov, because he doesn't see it from where he is when the kid does.

Alvida's actress is so beautiful, she's so pretty. I suddenly support women's wrongs.

Damn, the violence is going up a notch (Roger executed on screen, Mr 7's body cut in half, MERRY IS FUCKING KILLED,...)

The actors for Koby and Helmeppo are queer (They/Them pals) Oda is, once again, showing his support to the trans community.

I do not like the colors. It's too dark for One Piece, imo. Look at how saturated the colored pages are, I would have preferred it to be more saturated. I know, this is because of the CGI (issues are less perceptible this way), I'm going to need to make some edits. But, they didn't have to do it to the costumes too. Like, Buggy, except from his hat, his outfit is not flashy like it should be. Would help with the colored hair if it was more colorful and flashy.

Young Luffy wear the same shirt as in the manga is a nice touch.

THERE'S A CAVENDISH'S WANTED POSTER IN SHELLS TOWN!

Dead bodies smell strongly, and Zoro is bringing half of one in a bar???

Episode 2 is pure art. I love it so much.

Buggy is attractive, wtf. I find him more pretty than Shanks.

Bogard is so cool looking. I'm gonna die if Hina is introduced one day (she's going to be so cool)

They changed the "If you’re gonna point your gun toward someone, you better use it" scene. The new one is cool, but the original is iconic.

THE MUSIC WHEN LUFFY REALIZES THAT SHANKS LOST HIS ARM! It's like the orchestra is interrupted, incredible, love it.

Nami and Zoro's siblings' energy is so strong.

Kaya and Nami interraction about the dress "it belonged to my mother" is so good, Nami gets uncomfortable because she also lost her mother and knows how it is to cherish her memory. But Kaya is nice and share it with her, which break her view of rich folks.

The decor's department must have had the time of their life for this show. It's a great job.

Zoro wanting to wear black and drink wine in the 3 episode, he's already embodying being Mihawk's adopted brat.

Kaya makes the oof roblox sounds when she slapped Usopp.

Usopp x Kaya let's gooooooooooo my boy deserves the best (Oda confirming a romance with one of his protagonists is huge)

Zoro IMMEDIATELY trying to look at something else the moment Kaya kisses Usopp.

Sanji is, like, the only one after Nami to have the most experience sailing, they fucking need him.

Buggy coming back all the time is perfect. Love him.

Having Bell-Mere slaps Nami was not ok. Y'all are ruining a character I loved.

Sanji knows a man that can cook well is attractive.

Usopp and Luffy are 17 and drinking, and Koby is 16. Underage drinking baby 🍻

Garp is already having the crisis he has during Marine Fort Arc, it’s going to be difficult for him.

I hope this is ok and I’m not sure how to just like share it to your wall kind of thing tumbler is still kind of new to me. But the picture made me think of Curtis and Honey immediately and I hope it’s ok I shared it with you. Love there story and the playful Drabble you’ve done. I connected to that so much. My life if chaos at the moment and my bf has been a trouper and so supportive. It’s such a fine line between laughing at the bad stuff or crying and he’s held me when I cried and made sure I’m laughing too. Even if he’s a cheater and tickles..

Sorry that was a rant. Either way love Curtis and Honey and thought I would share. Thank you for the moments of peace when I’m reading your stories!

Curtis x Honey Drabble

Your nose was stuck in a book, but not one of those fun ones you would become so invested in that Curtis often brought you tea and snacks after a few hours because you had forgotten.

This book was the newest teacher's handguide and it was reading as stiff as a stereo instruction manual. Already you had doodled along all the edges of the pages with random little pictures trying to keep yourself awake.

And the house was quiet, Curtis having left to help Grey and Edgar with a weekend project. So not even he could help distract you this time with it. So when you started humming along with the Halloween theme song, it clicked that the noise was coming from outside of the picture window. "What the hell?" You flung the book aside and got up from the couch to go peer outside.

Moving aside one of the gauzy curtains, you saw Curtis standing in the front yard, his black trench coat tails flipping in the bit of wind bustling the leaves around the yard among the Halloween decorations, above his head he was holding a cardboard sign reading "Horror Movies and Chill?" with a sketch of what looked like Micheal Myers peering around a bush. The music came from what looked like a dusty old tape player at his feet.

You waved quickly before bolting for the door and dancing out onto the porch. "Yes! Big giant YES!" You giggled as he let his arms drop the sign to tuck under his arm and reached to grab his boom box that was still doing the ominous theme song. "I can make us some snacks and pop some beers." You excitedly said while going down the stairs to meet him.

"No need Pretty Girl, already ordered us some takeout. You my Love just gotta get into comfier clothes than those. Although..." He leaned back a bit, smirking as his eyes fell down your teacher's outfit. "Keep on those stockings?"

"I will surprise you... Horror movies and just chill huh?" You tilted up to catch his mouth, sharing a kiss that you both grinned into.

"Cuddles too, all the cuddles Honey. Promise."

"Perfect, just what I was hoping for today, Curtis." You reached for the boom box's volume, turning it up when it switched to the Ghostbusters song, dancing away back up the stairs with a sway of your body, glancing at Curtis over your shoulder.

Curtis was right behind you, crowding you playfully through the door with a press of his body and the graze of his beard against your neck, making you tingle. Tonight was already so much better.

Ello! :D your post intrigued me and I’ve had this hc rattling around in my brain since Witchcraft smp started and I’ve wanted to share but I’ve never had the opportunity.

Ok here it goes. When Scott did the magic thing to try to bring the person he want to back back from the dead it summoned Lady Death (which is Mumza cause she is literally death and I hold her in a vice grip). This ruffles her feathers quite a lot and she starts going oof at him, saying how foolish he is for trying to bring someone back from the dead and such. He then explains to her is his reason to why he did it and beg her to bring his love back. Though it is still a foolish endeavor, her heart is softened by his pleas due to her understanding his pain but can’t just bring people back to life; however she does give him the ability to perform the magic needed to back his love back from the dead. In exchange however, Scott has to give a piece of his soul to her and when he dies his soul is forfeit. He accepts and after a very painful handshake she give him the power of necromancy. This left him with stark white hair also she straight up took a piece of his soul and dipped. He later dyed it black cause it gave him a bad feeling but when he does really powerful magic it will turn a lock of his hair white. I have a n e e d to give every single one of my Scott designs a lock of white. Idk why I just think it looks cool :3

Scott wasn’t sure how he’d messed up the spell. It was supposed to bring him back—not whoever this woman with the black hair and the fancy hat and the long dress was. He kind of wished he could send her back now—she’d started ranting at him the instant she appeared, and she hadn’t stopped since.

It wasn’t like it was anything new. It was the same thing he’d heard from the townsfolk in his old village, and the same thing he’d heard from everyone else who knew what he was trying to do. “You can’t bring some one back from the dead, Scott! That’s wrong! You’re upsetting the balance, Scott! You’re so selfish, Scott, dragging them back! That’s weird. You’re creepy. Everyone else who did that suffered worse. What, do you think you’re better than them, Scott?”

And you know what? Scott didn’t care. He didn’t care anymore! None of it mattered!

He just wanted him back.

At least he’d done something right to summon this… woman? She had wings, actually, now that he noticed. Perhaps she was an avian?

Oh well. He flipped through his book, trying to find out how to send her away. Her stature left him feeling dwarfed, and he hated feeling small. He also hated being scolded like he was a child.

If only his stupid book would tell him how to get rid of her!

“You’re not listening to a word I’m saying, are you?” The woman’s voice was clipped, clearly annoyed. Scott glanced up at her once before turning back to his book. He needed to send her away now—

“I said—“ a cold presence strayed his throat, stealing his breath. His eyes darted to the woman—she was clearly more than an avian, more powerful than him even. He—he wasn’t sure if he could send her away. “Are you listening?”

“I am now.” Scott snapped, though it sounded more whiny than he’d meant it to, as if he were a little child being scolded by his mother again.

“What are you doing? You’ve got a circle and everything, do you know how dangerous those are? You could bring back something a whole lot worse than me—” She ranted, waving her arms as if to illustrate her point.

“I’m trying to bring someone back, obviously.” Scott answered her, annoyed. Clearly she already knew what he was doing, so why waste her words? He didn’t regret it. Not at all. Not when it could bring him back.

“You shouldn’t. Life and death is something to be taken very seriously, not with this callous sort of carelessness you’re giving it. Those who die do so in their time, and those who live do so in their time.” She sighed, her eyes piercing into his soul. “People can be brought back,” She admitted guardedly. “At great cost—with the disruption of the balance. It’s not smart, though—you’re still young, you still have life left. When you die, you’ll be reunited. But isn’t it worth it to live, even without him? To have your time above the surface?” She beseeched him.

“I know that. I know—I do! I’ve heard it all before. But I can’t—I have to bring him back! I have to. I can’t… I can’t live without him.” Scott’s calm voice was quickly falling apart, his vulnerabilities laid more plain than he’d ever cared to have them be before—more than he’d ever even let him see.

“If you know, then why are you asking?” Her face looked hard as stone before she sighed, and the sharp lines of her face softening. “No, I know why. I can’t, though. Well, I could—but I won’t. There is more at work than you understand, little mortal.” Her tone was soft, but the hard truth in it hurt. He couldn’t give him up. Not yet! He’d barely even tried yet!

“Please. You’re clearly affiliated with death—couldn’t you help me?” He pleaded, all his dignity left to rot in the wake of this one chance, this one person who could bring him back when Scott couldn’t.

“I’d love to help you—I would—it’s not like I’ve never done it before—but that’s not how life is supposed to work. It throws off the balance, and doing it once was quite enough. I can’t risk any more.”

His eyes are wide and pleading, the absence of anything but desperation—a human brought to their last reserves, and, if she was reading his trembling correctly, to his knees also. Pity bloomed in her heart for the small, sniveling creature before her. She’d always been too soft on the mortals.

“…I suppose I could do something. But—no—don’t look at me like that. I can’t do it. That would destroy the balance. But… you could. For a price.”

She tilted her head, eyes scanning the human. This wasn’t smart—giving power over death to a mortal? It was unheard of, and decidedly stupid.

But it could work.

And wasn’t she willing? He’d keep trying even if she said no, anyway, and it’s not like she could (or would) take him before his time.

“I don’t give power freely, and I give favours even less so. Had you not managed to summon me, I never would have done this. Nevertheless—I can give you the power to bring things back from the dead, and to kill them again. It will take practice. Control. Effort. It will take more from you than it gives, and every spell will come at a price. But, one day—one day it can bring him back. If it does depends on you, and how far you’re willing to go. Would you risk that—for him? Would you accept that?” She extended the offer cautiously, eyes searching his expression for any sort of greed. She found none.

The human straightened. He still looked shaky—still looked afraid—still looked hopeless. But he was trying, bless his little heart, to look brave. His expression was determined, resolute; his mind already made up. “Yes,” He agreed, his voice clearly shivering but strong enough to be sure.

“Good, because there’s more. I don’t only have to worry about the balance—the other gods would have a fit if they found out, and I can’t have that, not after… Well, you don’t need to know. I have to make this look like I need you—and for that, I need your soul.”

“You need… my soul.” The mortal spoke slowly, as if he couldn’t quite comprehend the words.

“Yes. Just a piece—though it’ll all be mine when you die—relax, I’m not a bad goddess. You’ll be fine. You don’t have to take the deal, though—only if you want the power. Only if you want him back that much.” He seemed to take her words as a challenge, as if she were accusing him of not caring enough. Whatever reservation he had left vanished, and his face set into hard lines.

“Yes. Yes, whatever it takes. Whatever it takes.” His voice was made of the same steel, his decision set. He would not be changing his mind anytime soon. And if he did—when he did—it would be too late.

“Then take my hand.” She stretched it out almost nonchalantly, her fingers hanging daintily in the air, dangling as if moved by an invisible wind. After all—some of the most dangerous things could be the most beautiful, the most inviting.

The mortal reached his hand out, and took it—a mistake, but one she could forgive. Wouldn’t she have done the same thing?

She saw the moment it hit him, the dark power racing up his hand, into his bloodstream, towards his head. Always towards the head, and then the heart. It was a gift, not a curse, though you might call it one. Curses went for the heart first.

She watched him fall, the power all too much for his small, sensitive little body, and unable to cope with that little something extra—his debt.

That little piece of soul.

She was sure, as she watched him shiver and convulse, that she’d take good care of it. He wouldn’t have to worry about that.

Scott heaved himself up off the floor, clutching his hand to his chest. Not that it mattered—the pain was in his whole body, equally miserable everywhere. He staggered around the room before his fingers hit the wall, which he gratefully leaned on for balance.

He glanced around, perplexed to see that the Death Goddess was no longer here. Though, he couldn’t be too surprised—deities go as they please, and she’d already gotten what she wanted.

But he had also gotten what he wanted. Or, almost. He had to learn how to, but… he could bring him back. He could! He just had to…

He stormed out of the room in a fury, ignoring the raging pain that caused. He had to get started, had to start studying—he wanted him back as soon as possible. He’d figure out how to do it, and nothing, nothing would stop him.

He nearly walked right past the mirror before he noticed it. Just a flash in his peripheral vision—something white?

He turned, looking at the mirror with a perplexed expression. His reflection looked back at him with the same expression, the same pale-set face and long robes, the same green eyes and… black…

Why was part of his hair white?

He hurried to the mirror, his hand already reaching up and tugging at it. Why was his hair white? His hair was black, and he was still young. None of it should be white!

Had he spilled something on it? Maybe cast a wrong spell? Perhaps—

A wrong spell.

Scott gasped a little, his hand falling to his mouth.

She’d done this. She’d left him a little mark, just enough to remind him of this deal and what he’d agreed to.

Just enough to haunt him.

He stood there staring for a long time until he moved.

He didn’t have time for this. He finally had the power to bring him back and he wasn’t going to waste it on something this silly.

He shot his reflection a dark look as he walked away. He’d just have to dye his hair back later.

The color didn’t match at all.

And if he was honest… it unnerved him. He hated owing people things; it made him feel vulnerable.

And he owed Death herself his soul.

Perhaps he hadn’t thought this through.

No matter—it would all be worth it when Scott got him back.

She doesn’t rub it in her face. It’s not Feyre’s fault and nowhere did the book even mentioned that she’s rubbing it in her face. We’re reading from Nesta’s pov and her narrative is coated with self-loath and ofc that affects her viewpoint on Feyre. If you read closely, she respected Nesta’s wishes to be away even though she tried to reach out to her. Let’s also remember that their relationship is so strained built with hostility and lashing. (and Nesta also being unnecessarily cruel to Feyre in the past) so they prob don’t know what the other needs.

Ok so let's talk about this, then.

What I'm hearing is that this is a difference of interpretation. I'm not gonna sit here and tell you that you're wrong, bc to me it sounds like we just read the same book and came away from it with different opinions of what happened.

I'm saying that Feyre, and Rhysand too I guess, both hold themselves like they're better. I got the feeling that because Feyre and Rhysand have already "beaten" their PTSD and depression, they are better than everyone around them who still struggles with it. It was never mentioned, nobody ever said it with their own mouths to Nesta's face but that's what I felt was implied. Everyone around Nesta treats Feyre like she's better than Nesta because her symptoms of depression were not as severe, it's not outwardly spoken, but it is implied. It has the energy of someone telling you that you shouldn't be sad because someone else has had it worse, except it feels like everyone says that to Nesta, and then turns as Feyre's warm, depression-cured glow shines upon their faces while calling her a saint for enduring what she went through.

You said that Feyre and Nesta do not understand what the other needs. But here's the thing: Feyre has been through the exact same things that Nesta has. The Exact. Same. Things. The same things, the same feelings, the same depression, and you're telling me that there is not a single thing that Feyre could think of to help her sister through a remarkably harrowing time that she is all too familiar with? that shit made me want to claw my throat out. I would not wish my depression on my worst enemy.

Feedback and Suggestions to Tumblr Changes

Rant that has been coming for a week or two now, extremely expedited by the recent change they made to literally make it look like Twitter. I’m assuming the change stems from this statement they put in their latest Staff post:

"The underlying problem is that Tumblr is not easy to use."

The thing is - nothing is easy to use, the first time. If you've never been on a website, if you've never used a program, a game, an app - the chances are, you are not going to know how to use it easily if you haven't encountered it before. Does that intrinsically make the service you're using bad? No! So what could Tumblr do to help instead? Well. Huge feedback and suggestion dump under the cut, with the LEAST rant-driven comparisons I can muster. I'll be sending this post as feedback myself, but I want it public too.

I'm going to break these down into bullet points with explanations, but keep in mind that I'm just one person, and I'm bound to miss out on plenty of things others might have thought of; this is not the blog to send in feedback or suggestions or other thoughts, it's a one-off long as all fuck post because I'm opinionated. Take the list and run with it, add to it, use it - whatever, but please don't come to me for more takes about this. That being said:

Section 1: Layout

Feedback: New layout

I won’t be the first or the last person to say this: the new layout is basically Twitter. You know this, I know this, the staff knows this. Tumblr…is not Twitter. The obvious pro to this change is that everyone that’s ever used Twitter in their life is going to know where things are, because it looks like a worse version of their (already bad) platform. The cons are…everything else. From this point onward I’m referring to the 19/7 layout as the Twitter layout because it’s simpler, and it’s true. Also I don’t like it.

I don’t want to spend my time here when it looks like this, and frankly, people don’t want to use any social media platforms that are an obvious rip-off of others in looks and function; they are going to use Twitter regardless until it dies. This is why few people have gone to Mastodon and kept using it even if it IS a better alternative to Twitter, and quite similar. It’s the same with games. You want more people to use Tumblr? Make it unique. Keep the old layout, or do adjustments that actually benefit the interface, and double down on the uniqueness of what it can do different, and better, not what it can do the same. Tumblr is a blogging platform; lean in on it. I digress. The Twitter layout dissection below.

Suggestion: Layout (desktop) and interface

I have a wide screen, and my personal experiences are written from that point of view; however, everything I mention here should be tested for ALL screen sizes, to optimize placement and user experience. I’ve gone through the tags to gather some opinions and mellow out my initial reaction of “oof, change bad”, but also I’ve always hated the Twitter layout which is the reason I don’t have one. Shocker.

The layout is cramped to me. It feels squished. Opening one thing overlaps on the other, having to scroll down for basic account functions feels insane to me because that’s where the likes, the drafts, the posts are. It makes me less likely to go through any of the website actual functions because I just can’t see them, and I have to put in extra effort of scrolling around to find them. The general upside of Tumblr for me was the ability to have sideblogs and easily access and edit them, and see posts, and likes, and other blog-specific things.

The Messages, Activity, and TumblrMart tabs still open as pop-up like features. For messages- no issue, there’s no need for it to take up further space. It was like this beforehand, and I didn’t mind it then either. I think that’s fine. Activity and TumblrMart, to me, feel spammy to look at. Personally, opening Activity in a half-tab like the one you get where you report blogs would be ok, because you can actually look through it with less fear of clicking off, but also, I don’t get a lot of notifications so I don’t have a strong opinion one way or the other. I have seen that it covers the dashboard which you might want to be looking at, so frankly, it’s probably best to not have it pop-up there at the very least. TumblrMart…please let it lead to its own site segment. No wonder people aren’t using it. It doesn’t have a clear overview, or options, nor do you feel like you can peacefully look around.

The fact that everything is on the left side sucks from an user standpoint as well because going swiftly from reblogging/liking/refreshing to account/messages/settings is not friendly user interface. This, to me at least, essentially discourages the interaction wanted. I digress. I think it’s a decent idea to separate left and right side and make things in part more accessible, but not like this.

My personal subjective opinion for a new (“more intuitive” interface) and suggestion:

Keep what is currently the account tab on the right, permanently open (likes, following, what’s new, help, shortcuts, log out) OR toggleable, with a toggleable (separate) “blogs” tab under it for privacy on the dashboard lest someone walk by and sneak a glance. Opening the blogs drop-down would by default make your main blog interface open, and side blogs closed; leave the toggleability and options as-is on the Twitter layout, that is fine.

Above this, put back the Home, Explore, Activity, TumblrMart, Domain, and Ad-Free icons. Home, Explore and Activity for usage, make TumblrMart lead to its own distinctive site instead of being a pop-up, and the rest people will eventually click on and know what they are. Potentially you could merge Ad-Free and Domain into one site you can just scroll through instead. Bind this with the search tab in the middle the way that it was, so things don’t stick cramped to the top of the page.

Leave Messages, Inbox and Settings on the left, and instead of “t” write “tumblr.” because there’s lots of empty space up top there otherwise, and it would look less awkward. Drop-down settings especially is a good thing to me because the settings interface was amongst the least intuitive things for new users, and it’s important because it shapes the entire usage of the site, and is one of the first things people go to for customization of their experience. Under this, stick “Check out these blogs” and “Radar”. Or only “Radar”. Workshop it or ask for user opinions.

That’s just one opinion of possibilities of one user, and no one has to agree with me whatsoever, but I’m not going to sit and pretend that things will never change ever even if I don’t want them to. There’s plenty of ground to cover here, but I really shouldn’t be doing the job of the Tumblr board of 200 people who already work there. Regardless, I’m upset, and I don’t want to use Tumblr anymore because of the changes you’re making, and I want to fix the leaks in the roof of my only house, because honestly? I don’t use social media besides Tumblr. I digress.

Feedback: Blogs (layout-adjacent)

I’ve been on this platform for over 10 years and I want to be absolutely clear on something; I hate the simplification of everything with a burning passion. I don’t want to spread misinformation and say that blogs not having their own immediate domain and theme on sign-up saves money, or space, or what-have-you, because I don’t know, but if it’s true then I understand the reasoning for the change. However, I do know that the slow erasure of personal themes makes the entire website bland as all fuck to me. I’m going to separate this in chunks because it’s important to me and I think Tumblr should use this function (as well as chronological non-algorithmical feed) to attract new users instead of trying to be something it isn’t. Is it realistic? Not my job to figure out, nor how to make it work! I’m already making a whole itemized list for a lot of things.

Feedback: Regarding mobile blog layouts:

A good change! I like that it’s simple and sleek and still customizable in a way where you can hide your likes and followings. I also don’t mind that the same settings are retained on the desktop version of your blog to keep consistency. It’s neat! However, I’m not the biggest fan of the desktop version of blogs, and so, regarding desktop layouts:

Suggestion: Make blogs that have a theme open in a new tab when clicked on.

In all honesty, I scroll less on blogs when I’m not on their personalized theme. It’s simply not inviting. It’s fine for one post; sometimes I just want to take a link from the source to pass it on, but when I further click on the blog icon to get to the main page of the blog itself, I wish it led to the actual theme as opposed to the dashboard version. I love looking through others’ posts and blog on their own personalized page, and frankly, it’s the reason I joined and spent so much time on Tumblr. If the theme is Godawful, or difficult to see, there’s always a button in the top right which literally leads to the dashboard version of the blog, on any blog with any theme. When I scroll through the dashboard version of a blog, I last maybe 5 posts at most, don’t like/reblog much, don’t follow, which further just stops the chain of engagement in this platform.

I can agree this isn’t for everyone, and people might not care too much about it. However, it’s like…a few lines of code to implement, and put in settings as a toggleable function. It would keep everyone happy. And make it known to new users.

Section 2: Retaining new users

Now that we’ve determined how nobody wants a rip-off website, and how changes are possible and have potential and don’t have to be bad, and how, certain layout functions are out there that little people know about, we’re going to move on to the statement that Tumblr staff made about not being able to attract and retain new users. I’m going to make a separate post completely that goes in on the topic of engagement (important for a website!), but here I want to focus on the differences in old and new user experiences.

Feedback: User experience for new accounts

I feel like lots of old users aren’t aware that this is what the new sign-up for Tumblr looks like, with all the steps. To Tumblr staff: no wonder people don’t understand anything or stay on the platform, and you think that algorithms are the way to go. Changing the interface to “please” or “attract” new users won’t do much if they still can’t understand and use the core functions of the site. The functions that are actually not badly described on the help page. The functions that make the site worthwhile visiting and being on for what it is.

The steps given after signing up force people to mindlessly click on things, without any understanding, and the interface looks…spammy. There’s no indication on making someone unfamiliar with the culture or layout actually familiar and understanding of it, there’s no explanation, nothing. It’s not inviting and it looks like a hassle, and if people don’t understand this, they will click things randomly, then go to their dashboard and be cranky because they don’t get what’s going on.

Suggestion: Signup and post-signup interface changes, tutorials

On the “What are you into?” page, elaborate on what following “tags and topics you want to see” means; will this show up on the dashboard, will it give you notifications, what? Let people know that they will see everything in a tag from all users, where it will be located, how if they tag an original post it will also be found in the tags, but that tagging reblogs won’t. People don’t know. Teach them as they go along.

Leave a few suggested (popular) tags, potentially a list of currently trending tags. Introduce a search function next to it that allows a quick scroll through whatever tag people might think of, with a sentence or two about how to use search/tags: this both familiarizes people with the difference between the “tagged” and “searched” terms on their dashboard (you could explain this, too!), and gives people the incentive to write whatever they want and follow that instead of one of 20 randomly generated tags that they then have to unfollow. Naturally, add a button saying “no thank you” to this step so that people that know how to use Tumblr don’t have to do any of that while making a new account.

On the “find your people” page, you should straight up explain what following people means and how to find people to follow, given that it’s the core function of the website, no matter how much you try to force the algorithm. The issue with following random people for new users is that they don’t know how to find them after this step, and there is only so far that the “check out these blogs” tab will get you. This ties into engagement, and so, I’ll go into a little more detail later.

Likewise, managing of the “For you”, “Following” etc. is not customizable and removable for new users. Please make this customizable the same way that the old users have it, wherein you can turn off certain tabs. In all genuine honesty, I find all that unnecessary, but I know some newer users might use it (whether it’s because they like it, or they don’t know any better, I can’t say). I think the choice of what the “primary” tab is should be given to the user though.

Regarding the rest of the website functions: You know when you download an app or a game and you have a darkened screen with highlighted points that let you know where is what and point at it, sometimes including pictures? And you read it to get familiar with the interface/controls, and skip it if you just don’t care? Brainstorm on how to make one of those. This solves 99% of your issues with people that want to use the platform and also read. Make it simple, to the point, cover the raw basics, and include an easily accessible link to the other tutorials with screenshots on the help page that I know exist but are horribly hard to find. Which brings me to my next issue…

Suggestion: Make the help and feedback sites easy to access and use.

It’s as simple as putting the words “Help” and “Feedback/support” on the right side under whatever text there was, or under the “suggested blogs” batch, or something. This is literally THE easiest change to make on the old layout and would undoubtedly help a lot of people that don’t understand the platform. Likewise, honestly, the help page with actual tutorials is kinda bad (the tutorials seem ok from what I’ve skimmed though). It’s big and bulky and stretched out and it makes getting to the actual tutorial you might need a little bit of a hassle. I’d suggest to rework that layout over the dashboard layout any day.

And regarding the people that don’t read? Well, first of all, that’s their issue. Secondly, the way new account making works on Tumblr needs to be reworked in a way where doing whatever is necessary while making the account before getting to use the platform needs to be optimized and clearer, with better instructions. The issue isn’t the layout, as much as a fundamental misunderstanding of the platform, which I’ve written about 6 paragraphs of just above.

Section 3: Engagement

With all of that out of the way, let’s get to the meat of the problem. One of the key issues Tumblr seems to have is this:

“To guarantee Tumblr’s continued success, we’ve got to prioritize fostering that seamless connection between people and content. This involves attracting and retaining new users and creators, nurturing their growth, and encouraging frequent engagement with the platform.”

I’d like to go in on this because to me this is the most important facet of why Tumblr is changing things. I urge you, staff specifically, to read this carefully and clearly.

Feedback: Engagement with the platform

A lot of reasoning for changes comes from a lack of engagement with the platform and its contents, and the want to get more users and as a consequence earn more money to keep the site running. I’ve already written about introducing new users to the website interface and culture better, so I’m going to write the following with the assumption that all site features are understood. Platform engagement and features are intertwined, and so this will include both feedback on current features and suggestions for future ones that I think would hopefully help engagement. Because this is about Tumblr changes, it’s only fair we start with the obvious.

Feedback: Make blogs and polls related to changes easier to access.

I’ve gone through a few blogs such as @/changes, @/wip, @/labs and @/staff. First off, most of these aren’t interlinked with each other, and it’s very very annoying. It costs 5 minutes to make a pinned post on each of those blogs that links to the others so people know what to turn to regarding which update/change. Likewise, please stop silencing/refusing blaze/putting mature setting on posts that discuss and complain about changes. This has never gone over well with anyone. You’re alienating your userbase.

Regarding polls about changes that you apparently do on one of your changes blogs: I’ve never seen them, and I’ve never seen any notices about them. If you care about retaining any user base you might still have, you might want to have these more often, and facilitate and encourage discussion and open suggestions. Mostly, just make a notice about the poll last until it is over just like you make the notices about “ask X from Y show!” things. I’d be more than happy to contribute if I actually knew there was a poll happening.

With that out of the way, let’s get to the rest of them.

Feedback: Algorithm and the “for you” page.

Plenty of people have said this before me, and better than me. I want to stress the fact that the “for you” page discourages reblogs, discourages interaction, and above all, discourages new content creators. The new algorithm functions use popular posts (without reblogs, no less!), which further pushes good and popular creators or bloggers, and leaves others in the dust. Making this the default dashboard and search results not only stagnates content, but also alienates creators you oh-so-dearly want to see bloom. I think having it as an option is inevitable in this day and age, but also, I would much rather see emphasis on the chronological, following and self-curating experience, than a trend-chasing one. You need to give people the space to grow if you want to encourage their growth. This space is hard to find when only popular things are pushed upwards.

Feedback: Search and tagged.

We all know the search function is broken in unspeakable ways. Unfortunately most new users a) don’t know that and b) don’t understand the difference between the search and the tags. For the latter, I’ve already suggested things. For the former: fix the search function. And maybe let people pick whether they want to default to search or tag they’re looking for when pressing enter in the search bar? I’m tired of double clicking because I tend to prefer going to tags.

Feedback: Issues with the Tumblr Live function.

Remove it. Few people use it, I doubt that it’s highly moderated, and I’m absolutely certain it’s costing you money more than it should. The fact that a recent Staff Q&A livestream was on it was a slap in the face given that at least a third of the userbase cannot access it given that they are in the EU. If your website function is banned in the EU, you might want to reconsider implementing it. If people want livestreams, they will go to Twitch, or less likely to Instagram. Tumblr doesn’t need this. It won’t make new users come. Market it as a blogging platform that it is, not a livestreaming platform.

Feedback: Issues with spam and bots.

There’s so many porn pots in all tags spamming everything and messaging users, and we all know it’s an issue. Work on removing them from the site more than you work on removing actual real live users that post porn on the site. At least the live users aren’t likely to give you viruses and scam. Related, make new users aware of this issue and urge them to change their icon or at least make an introductory post. If they get blocked for the assumption that they’re a bot, they see less on Tumblr, there is less engagement.

Suggestion: Following, specifically regarding new users.

The reason why “most users see only 25 posts a day” isn’t that they are lacking an algorithm, it’s that they’re lacking people they follow, and the fact that most suggested blogs to follow are ones that create content as opposed to reblogging it, and because creation takes time, well…people don’t get posts on their dashboard. The simplest way I can think to fix this would be to also suggest blogs that reblog based on source content tags they reblog. And because I know some people would rather have their little private corner: make this toggleable based on if their blog is searchable or such.

Alternatively, coin a known tag such as “New user follows” or something, wherein both new users can post asking for people to like if they post about XYZ fandom/topics so they can check the blogs out, and the old users can post a list of topics they talk about, and new users can just follow that way. “Like if you post X” in fandom tags used to be such a common thing, but I don’t think encouraging spam in said tags is a good idea, and so: new highly specific tag, which can also be noted and explained in the sign-up process!

New users don’t know this, but I (for one) find people that reblog things either by going up a chain of reblogs, or just visiting random blogs through reblogged posts of posts I like and content I enjoy. I’m sure every other user out there has their own method of finding new blogs. For this to work though, you need to have people that reblog, which leads to my next point.

Suggestion: Reblogging regarding new users only.

For the new users, it’s confusing to differentiate between a reblog and an original post, especially considering you can tag both. This kind of ties into tutorials that I suggested beforehand, but it should at least be mentioned somewhere, preferably during (or right after) the sign-up process. Granted, this might be mentioned in the help page somewhere, but after this entire manifesto, I don’t have it in me to check.

Suggestion: Encouraging reblogs for both new and old users.

I’m running out of singular brain cell power to one-man brainstorm things for the staff here, and I’m certain people have their own ideas to boot. The only thing I can think of is to give people a boon for a 1-minute crab run or 24-hour badge choice per, like, 1000 posts reblogged, 4 times a month to avoid spam. Either it will be funny or it will be ignored. I don’t have it in me to think about this because the moment I had started reblogging a decent chunk of things on my own blog, Tumblr made the layout change, and now I simply don’t want to.

Suggestion: Change replies to posts.

If there’s any one thing I ever actually wanted on Tumblr that Twitter has, it’s the fact that replies to an original post are threaded. I know this has been asked for plenty of times, but keeps getting delayed. You want to encourage connection and communication? Thread the replies. Please.

Feedback/suggestion: Reblog chains.

Bring back the ability to look at singular reblogs by going through a reblog chain. You're killing the culture of "previous tags". Also this just sucks. And it's harder to find blogs through a reblog chain that way. This suggestion is not eloquent because I'm adding it in as an edit since my brain is literally fried from writing the rest of this.

Likewise, don't condense reblogs. People have said it better than me as well, but that kills the culture of the site, it kills engagement in the way the site is made, and frankly seeing a punchline before the joke isn't going to make anyone reblog anything.

Feedback/suggestion: Advertise the option to have custom themes.

This is primarily meant to attract new users, and is bound to my suggestion of letting blogs open in new tabs. People love custom things and self-expression, and most new users don’t even know that this is an option. I know that the theme shop wasn’t profitable since the themes weren’t all that good; fine. But you can still use this function of the site to attract and keep people. Yes, the dashboard is the same for everyone, but each personalized blog can look however you want it to, and that’s the joy in it.

Suggestion: Accessibility

This goes without saying, and given that I luckily don't have many things that hinder me in using the site, I am not the best person to speak on this. Make gifs toggleable. Let people zoom in on images. Listen to those that need these features to happily use your site if you want them to stay.

Suggestion: More items in shop.

I imagine the reason most people don’t outright buy merch is that items with the name of any kind of internet site aren’t usually “cool”. I understand Tumblr needs money, and there’s only so many silly trends that are always going to be popular to buy. I also understand that a decent chunk of users probably don’t want crabs. The items in the shop are not my job to workshop, but honestly you could ask for userbase suggestions for it to get a feeling for what people want.

A few things that come to mind for me would be: more critters (just change the crab to something else!), more badges that are really just emojis, icon frames for you on the dashboard, self-picker for dashboard colors beyond the basic 12 offered, etc. Cash in on the customization. That being said: listen to your userbase regarding changes, features and functionality of the site, so that they in any way shape or form want to spend money on you in the first place, and so that they’re even there to do so. People won’t want to buy things if you’re actively working against them. There was a post about trust in website changes somewhere which explained it well; if I find the term I will edit it in here. I find it important.

Suggestion: Introduce a function to spoiler text and/or images.

This speaks for itself. The function to put text under a spoiler bar (think: Discord or Reddit) is to me, less necessary on Tumblr than the function to spoiler images. This leads back to the fact that Tumblr is a blogging platform, and you don’t censor things on blogs like that. However, spoilering images would be a good addition, especially given that some people might want to post leaks and/or content they don’t want people to see outright. This also introduces the option to have more suggestive content under a filter if people so choose. But I’ll be straightforward here: we all know what my next (and last) suggestion is going to be.

Suggestion: Bring back porn/mature/explicit content.

I want to preface this with the fact that I frankly don’t care about consuming porn, but I do care about content creators, fandom, and seeing art. And I do understand that Tumblr staff, for every request they have had to bring back porn, said that the issue is with apps and Apple etc. But this also needs pointing out, explicitly:

You want to attract and retain users? Bring back porn. Everyone and their mother knows that some porn is still alive and well on Tumblr, if you know where to look. Everyone but new (and non-) users. It’s a bit of an open secret, but if new users don’t engage with the old users because they don’t know how (issues and resolution suggestions mentioned beforehand), they are never ever going to find out. Let me be absolutely clear: People are not on Twitter because of the layout, or the algorithm. People are on Twitter and other popular platforms because they allow mature content, and so, a lot of content creators they care about are there.

And the issue here is, is that the mature content remaining on Tumblr is either live porn, comes from porn bots, or absolutely censored in like 3 posted art pieces. You want to encourage content creators and retain users? Stop alienating half of them from your platform. A lot of adults enjoy and engage in mature content. I repeat: the issue isn’t in the interface, or the function of the website; the issue is the content, or lack thereof, and fundamental introduction to the functions of the site.

I considered making Twitter JUST for the fact that certain artists were alienated on Tumblr and (shadow)banned for posting suggestive art, or porn art, and moved to Twitter to put their mature content there. It’s not about the layout.

It’s not my job to figure out how to do this. Frankly, I think a step in the right direction would be to enable and un-shadow mature content on desktop first and foremost, while still censoring it on app, especially for people who in their settings do have mature content enabled. Why can I still not see mature posts in the tags and search even though I’ve enabled it? Go from there. Figure it out. But you’re lying to yourself if you think the lack of engagement only stems from the layout and certain functions.

Allow mature content outright. I can guarantee you that this will help with the userbase, considering a majority of it left after mature content was removed, and some tried to “come back” after the false (recent-ish) assumption of it being once again allowed. We all know they went back out the moment it turned out mature content was still banned.

He'll open doors,fetch you anything you need. And honestly regardless if this relationship goes any further. Kung lao is willing to always help you. Him baby ok? Sassy baby. But baby none the less. (Honestly me n kung would be a constant battle of "no you're cuter" "i love you more" "no,you hang up first" much to everyone's annoyance. But they also in the same are happy for Lao. )

B = Best friend (What would they be like as a best friend? How would the friendship start?): omfg besties. Granted friendship can come easy for kung but in the same vein,hard for him. He needs lots of reassurance. Plz help him. It may hit off good depends on who you are and your stances with him. But honestly kung lao is the best friend you could ever have. He is funny,loyal,has a cool hat,like fr what's not to love. (Ok im bias he's my main dude and i dont tolerate slander against hat bae) but if you don't like his "bragging" understand its not out of ego. It's a defense mechanism against the injustice his ancestors have been delt,the constant comparisons to liu kang(which dont make sense because liu respects him as an equal and so does lao right back so none of this slander in canon makes any sense and is kinda annoying af and unnecessary. And it shows hella bias and passive aggressive hate to him) and others pressuring him for perfection to be like everyone else. Yet they also brag about shit,yet when he does it. C = Cuddles (Do they like to cuddle? How would they cuddle?): he's a cuddlebug. Any chance he gets with you. He hangs onto you like superglue. His fave way to cuddle is to spoon you from behind,his face in the crook of you neck. He just buries his face in you. He is afraid to let go. Because sometimes he feels if he does. He wouldn't see you again. Again it's his fears. He tries to hide them sometimes and be strong for you. But oof does he die inside when you leave him. But reassuring him,you aint going anywhere. (Srry i just love lao so much)

D = Domestic (Do they want to settle down? How are they at cooking and cleaning?): tbh if he could retire. He would but never fully. Because of not just his self responsiblity but also his loyalty to his friends. But domestic life with lao is sweet. He's equal with chores. He cooks pretty good. His fave thing to cook is noodle soup. Despite being a monk,kung lao isn't a true vegetarian. However most of his diet is vegetarian. But on lunar new year. He treats himself to homemade beef noodle soup and char siu. Its one of the few times he lets himself indulge like that.

E = Ending (If they had to break up with their partner, how would they do it?): oh no baby why did you do that?! Who would break up with this bean?! What's wrong with you?!. But if you had to,he would rather it be upfront and formal. But just know this is gonna hurt him deeply. And he may not open up again to another person,at least for a long time. Like oof.

F = Fiance(e) (How do they feel about commitment? How quick would they want to get married?): ok kung lao,once he has made up his mind. Once things get past awkwardness. And he feels it's safe. Mrs.kung is soon what you'll be addressed as.

G = Gentle (How gentle are they, both physically and emotionally?): him baby like i said. Kung lao is a very gentle lover. Not so say he cant be rough. Not to say he wont be sassy. But to his beloved,he wants you to feel safe and secure in the same as he does. Hand holding. Soft caresses. Gentle "i love yous" and reassuring forehead kisses.

H = Hugs (Do they like hugs? How often do they do it? What are their hugs like?): he loves hugs. This is a good way to reassure him. Any chance he can get from you. And laos hugs are super warm and affectionate. You feel safe in his arms. His hugs feel like home.

I = I love you (How fast do they say the L-word?): you may say it first. But after that he says it shortly after. And never stops saying it.

J = Jealousy (How jealous do they get? What do they do when they’re jealous?): he can get that way a bit. But honestly he trusts you. But not to say he wont be cheeky or passive aggressive to that person trying to get on his bad side. But in all honesty despite being a bit protective of you (he has good reason to be btw) he actually does respect your space. But he's gonna go to you about it 9 outta 10 times. But don't push him plz.

K = Kisses (What are their kisses like? Where do they like to kiss you? Where do they like to be kissed?): passionate,hungry,longing,sweet but also gentle. He kisses you as if they are the last kisses you'll ever share. Besides your lips. The neck,the forehead,the hand,and a gentle cheek peck is the common. But he absolutely is over the moon for a cute kiss on the cheek or forehead. But if you kiss him right on the lips? Im not responsible for how much he goes on and on about how sexy you are to his friends.

L = Little ones (How are they around children?): he loves kids. But he wants to be in a place to be able to support them properly. But kung lao is pretty cool with children. He's the fun dad.

M = Morning (How are mornings spent with them?): warm tender hugs. A slightly raspy, "good morning darling". Morning tea brewing,a nice breakfast. Just peaceful.

N = Night (How are nights spent with them?): serene. Here with you in his arms. His twilight respite. The crickets chirping. After a nice warm meal. Reclining and enjoying each others company before dozing off to sleep. Laying there in the soft moonlight of the window peaking through. His soft breath on your neck as you both slumber. To wake again to your handsome lao in the morning.

O = Open (When would they start revealing things about themselves? Do they say everything all at once or wait a while to reveal things slowly?): ok its a tad slow but honestly if he trusts you he will slowing talk to you about his insecurities. Like i said he needs reassurance. Once he has this from you. He trusts and protects you with his life.

P = Patience (How easily angered are they?): don't push him. But he despite being boastful. He is hardly quick to anger. That is something you SHOULD BE THANKFUL FOR! He is very patient despite his shortcomings. And he knows how to bring the hurt. Don't push him.

Q = Quizzes (How much would they remember about you? Do they remember every little detail you mention in passing, or do they kind of forget everything?): he remembers the important things. But sometimes he needs reminders. But that isn't his fault tbh. (Kung lao adhd anyone?) But he tries. He certainly makes up for it in acts of service and gifts and being there for you. No matter how late.

R = Remember (What is their favorite moment in your relationship?): he says when he first laid eyes on you (kung lao you flirt). But realistically,

Probably your first date. This is where he bared his soul to you. Probably something simple like a picnic under a blossom tree. Or somewhere serene that ment a lot to him.

S = Security (How protective are they? How would they protect you? How would they like to be protected?): very protective. But not so much so that he becomes overbearing. He knows you can manage yourself. But he still doesn't like to take chances either. He always is looking out for you. If you feel uncomfortable around someone. Talk to him,he'll speak with them to respect your boundaries. If you feel scared or anxious,hold his hand or arm. He'll wrap his around you and hold you close so you feel better. For himself,you just being there and telling him its ok is enough.

T = Try (How much effort would they put into dates, anniversaries, gifts, everyday tasks?): he tries to put as much effort as his brain will let him.

U = Ugly (What would be some bad habits of theirs?): i honestly dunno. Probably beating himself up too much or taking on too much. Kung lao plz,take a break.

V = Vanity (How concerned are they with their looks?): he takes good care of himself. But also he is humble in that area too? Honestly he isn't any more concerned than the next guy tbh. And i dont know where people get this from? I mean of course he wants to look good for you. So does everyone. So eh.

W = Whole (Would they feel incomplete without you?): kinda yeah. He would be devastated if he lost you.

X = Xtra (A random headcanon for them.): kung laos hat has a subspace magic that can store shit and well as be a filter to help him teleport. Tho he can teleport without his hat. That hat is a good pinpoint to an area. He did a hat trick once,put a bunny in there. Johnny never shuts up about it. Constantly is trying to get him to do it for him. But kung lao refuses. Because it was one time. And he doesn't like to keep live animals n creatures in his hat for long. Because he care for the fur babies. Oh he also is a happy flirty drunk. But funny enough bo-rai-cho taught him drunken style too. So he can also fake it too. But he doesn't like using it often. But he'll never say the reasons why.

Y = Yuck (What are some things they wouldn’t like, either in general or in a partner?): someone cruel. Especially to animals or children. Overall he's open and tolerant of a lot of crap (probably more so then he needs to be,but eh he is a monk. Patience is a virtue) but some things are a hard no for him. Cruelty and violence outside of a tournament or when nessicary is unacceptable to him. He can try to talk you out of it. But he isn't above whooping ass either if needed.

Z = Zzz (What is a sleep habits of theirs?): kung lao can sleep almost anywhere. But he has to have his morning tea and evening tea. Other than that,he's good.

(ok, i'm sorry, this won't make much sense, it's basically just a rant, but i don't have irl army friends and i need to vent. so thank you in advance for allowing me to do so here. i really like you and i hope i'm not too annoying)

yep. i was in denial i guess. the stuff they said at the concerts, especially namjoon and jk, did feel like they were saying goodbye. run bts's hiatus (we gotta be careful now using this word lol), their ig accounts... looking back it all points to what we got now.

and it breaks my heart to think about how they were feeling at that last concert, knowing it was the last (at least for a while) and not being able to share it and talk openly about it. this is, i think, one of the things jm and rm meant when they talked about not being able to share with army all they wanted to.

i kinda feel happy covid happened (just in the sense of stopping their plans for a while) or i wouldn't have gotten to know them, and they made/make such a difference in my life, even thought i know them for such a little time.

i hope they do get to be free (as much as anyone can), without so many rules about what they can say or do or be, and all this stuff the kpop world demands from them. i hope they feel good and relieved that they were able to give themselves the break they wanted. all i wish for these 7 men is good things. i really hope they can live how they want to. with less guilt, less pressure. and i love jimin SO FUCKING MUCH!! i don't know, there's just something about him that is different, the way he expresses himself, how completely honest he sounds, how lovingly he looks at his members, how much he loves them. he trully is special, in more than a few ways.

I completely agree with every word you wrote in this message, anon. Especially the part about Jimin. Those concerts must have been difficult for them. God, I can't imagine what they felt. Especially the last one. Although my selfishness as a fan wishes they hadn't made this decision. Not now when they have the world at their feet, I understand. And I'm happy for them because I think this is the best time to do what they're doing even if it hurts as a BTS fan.

The Anti-Big Oof, Some May Even Say "The Small Foo"

Just played The Murder of Sonic the Hedgehog today, a dumb, goofy little visual novel made for April Fool's Day a few months ago. It's really cute, it took me waaaay longer to get to it than I expected, I originally was going to read it the day it released, but uhhh i forgor💀 but now that I have actually finally read it, it's so good and was definitely worth reading. It's not very long, and there's not a ton to it, but it was created by a team of really dedicated Sonic fans including a few of the writers for the IDW comics and it is so incredibly obvious, it is absolutely filled with obscure little references to the series as a whole that only weird obsessive freaks like me would ever even notice. The number of times I went "WAOW✨" was immeasurable, the Knuckles OVA hat, "Big Oof" (classic), I think they even indirectly referenced the fucking Shadow pissing on Eggman's wife video, not 100% sure on that tho, may just be reading into it too much, but in my headcanon they're 100% referencing Shadow pissing on Eggman's wife frfr. It's crazy how the writing teams for every Sonic related thing now, the games, the comics, even the social media is just made up of a bunch people that are just as obsessed with Sonic as even the most insane fans, like the last 10 years of Sonic media has pretty much just been a collection of officially licensed fan passion projects and I'm all for it. Like obviously there's been the typical corporate made stuff that was obviously just rushed out for money and had no love behind it too, just like any franchise, but like, I'm not here to talk about that, I don't want to talk about that, I'm here to talk about PURE, RAW, UNFILTERED PASSION AND HOW FUCKING COOL IT IS!!!

The Sonic community in general is just insane in how passionate they are, like what other community has multiple entire expos dedicated to fangames, that have been recognized by major members of the official Sonic development team? (If you can't tell I am very excited for SAGE and SHC, the next 2 months are gonna be so pog >:)).

It's so exceptionally fun experiencing any kind of work in general that's so clearly made with a ton of passion put into it. Like art that you can just sense the passion oozing out of has got to be like, peak art, always, no matter the actual thing itself, if it's been made with a ton of love, it's peak, no question. It's why there's a lot of specific artists and communities that I just resonate with so hard, like when an artist or community just loves what they make, that's just like, so cool this is my excuse to mention Trigger/Gainax I love Trinax I love it when they have to make the final episode of an anime black and white and at 2fps not only for stylistic reasons but because they just HAD to put their entire budget into the 2 minute big robot scene like how could they resist and I mean this entirely unironically I fucking LOVE that they know exactly where their talents and passions lie and are willing to put everything into what they want to make at the expense of other parts that they don't want to make. *Several hours pass, and eventually, Nagito and Uchui finally reach Zetsubou’s intimidating secret base. They are let in by a bunch of guardsmen, and walk through the halls to the lounge area.

*Uchui nods to Nagito, who pats Narumi on the head and starts to walk out of the room towards Seiko and Kanata’s lab.

Alright, let’s get started.

*Tsumugi goes over to the lounge area with Uchui and the others. The agents move two sofa’s to face each other and put the coffee table in between both. Tsumugi sits in the center of one sofa while Uchui sits in the middle of the other. Akira slumps himself down lazily on one half of Tsumugi’s sofa, while Celeste sits more upright and astute on the other side. Kanade and Narumi stay behind the sofa, with Narumi leaning over the back onto the seats. Yukari and Mikihiko sit on the other sofa with Uchui, both trying to put as much distance between each other as possible.

Nice little arrangement, huh?

Yeah. This should do fine.

Alright, let’s get this covered quickly enough.

What Organization Zetsubou require of you is simple. You claim that you have the capability to duplicate the Hope Serum, and potentially, mass produce it. This would be tremendously helpful to us, since we would like to create an army of despair-induced Ultimate Hope’s to conquer the world and destroy society as we know it.

A pretty classic and easy to understand villain plot, I should hope.

Yeah, I suppose.

With that in mind, allow me to present to you my first question. How do we know that you’re not talking out your ass about this?

Mikihiko...At least say it more politely.

He’s not quick to trust me. I can’t say I blame him.

If you would like, I can prove it. Though I would need some equipment.

Let’s discuss the terms of the contract first. We’ll at least know whether to go through with it or not once Uchui here proves himself.

I assume you’re talking about threats, but trust me, that won’t be necessary. Is that really all you need of me? Sounds pretty simple.

I apologize for the stern reactions of my peers. As you probably know, you’re asking a lot from this one demand. Let me give you a chance to explain yourself.

Thank you. Simply put, even if I may be inadvertently helping you destroy the world, I do still have some moral standards. Unlike...some of you.

And the way I see it, now that I’m here, and you have my skills, there’s no conceivable reason to keep Seiko Kimura here for any longer. She’s suffering every second she’s in this base, and on account of both points, I would like to write her release as part of MY contract.

No reason? How so?

You have three main reasons as to why Seiko Kimura must remain hostage here. The first is that she serves as a bargaining chip for Nagito Komaeda. The only reason he’s here is because of her.

However, even if you let the doctor go, and stopped dangling her life over his head, you DO still have that electric suicide chip planted into his brain.

I do. And so does he. He told the Foundation all about it when they tried to question him. It’s the only reason why they haven’t come storming this base yet.

The chip should suffice enough to keep Nagito in line until I actually start implementing my work. Even as a backup, Seiko is not needed as a hostage against him. That’s strike one.

In relation to that, Strike TWO is that she simply isn’t necessary for the reasons why you kept her here in the first place, is she?

It was my understanding that you kept the doctor locked up here so you could have HER work on mass-producing the Hope Serum, but she’s spent the entire time researching ways to do it and biding time.

She’s unwilling to help, she’s inexperienced in what she actually has to do despite being an Ultimate, and even if she did make a start, it’d take a lot of time. Enough time to give the Future Foundation a chance to rally their forces and track you down, just in time before you even have a chance to create your Ultimate Hope Army.

No such problems will be had with me. I can do it, and I can do it many times faster with as many samples as you need. I’ll have results in a matter of days if you sign me up. Her on the other hand? She won’t matter. She’ll just be dead weight to me.

The third and final reason is an obvious one. Release Seiko from here, and there’s nothing stopping her from telling her friends at the Future Foundation about the location of this place, right?

Right. That’s MY issue. Can’t be letting go any tattletales.

For someone as well versed in Killing Game history, including the Kibougamine Gakuen Killing Game where this formula originates, I’m sure you know exactly what I’m getting at.

My mixing skills and medicine making abilities typically aren’t as good as that of Doctor Kimura’s for anything outside the Hope Serum. But yes, I can do it. I just need time.

Besides, I never said I wanted this part of my contract to be implemented immediately. Let me prove my worth, and then I hope you’ll be willing to go through with this.
