October, my heart is shedding its skin, cells falling off like leaves off a tree. My eyes wash away the dirt and dust as they spill their tears, I am falling back into place. An old rusty key that found its door, a paralyzed limb, once rotting, is perfused with blood again. I bloomed in autumn, I was reborn soul and spirit, the veil that fell on my eyes was lifted and I saw a bright dewy glow whiten the horizon. My mood shifted with the season, and after a long drought came the rain. My chest feels warm against the chilling evening wind, I have so much love I want to spend, I infuse it into each breath I release. I am alive, I want to live, longer. I want to feel so much more.

I'm so glad I live in a world where there are Octobers.

cold is an old feeling
warm is always, always new
hope is born every burning sunrise
but when it sets in the wind shift
we bury a grandfather
and not an infant
nor a child; and yet
it still finds it's way
into the grave
/
yes, flower bloomes always seem to surprise;
you never quite remember what it's like to be warm
but then the cold sets in, and we know
this was always where those flowers were heading
sweetly, warmly, fondly, and aching
into their ancient grave-wombs
/
warm is an ancient birth
cold is a infant's sickness

half a year of unrelenting genocide in Gaza, please don’t stop caring. they are so tired, they cannot be the only ones participating in their own liberation. we have to keep caring
