I Chose You
I chose you it’s not a decision I still make I’m not choosing you I’m done I’ve made my mind up I chose you and that will never change

Universe
and the epitaph of the universe
will be a question
what silence gives the handsome morning
clothes of pink, green & lavender?
where does the blind embrace
of a true reunion come from?
who will bear the breeze and snow
for us?
and the universe kisses us
and says
the past is now
my love
and it lingers...

I couldn’t sleep so I watched a movie and it made me think of you.
Forbidden romantic connection
Secret emotional affair,
Scandalous love letters that could inspire anyone to run away together.
And I thought of you.
I feel just as passionately about our affair.
I wish you could tell me you feel the same as I do.
There was one quote that really stuck with me,
“I’m afraid to love you.
I’m afraid that if I let myself go, I’d love you so much it would consume me.
And I fear that once I cease to be a novelty, you might tire of me.”
And all I can think is three wishes for us.
I wish you could let me love you.
I wish you could let yourself love me.
I wish I could let myself love you.
I let myself imagine that we might run away together one day.
In another universe maybe we would if we could.
That’s the danger of love that makes you feel brand new.
It’s so addicting it makes you dream of what could be.
If things were only a little different.
Maybe we’d never tire of each other.
Maybe we’d both feel consumed with love.
Maybe we’ll never know.

Self abandonment looks like  letting you hurt me in the same way twice and still trying to understand where you are coming from.  It’s like having more empathy  for your trauma than my own.  It’s having an over abundance of patience while you refuse to grow. Self abandonment looks like over explaining myself because  it’s become more important  to convince you of my worth  than treating myself like I  am worth more than this.

Sometimes a whole day passes in the shower
I’m not trying to wash myself away anymore
but it’s nice to feel contained
You ask me what I did today
and I say nothing
and you say well done
you did a lot of looking after yourself today
You are armed with videos
of recipes we’ll never cook
and a cup of instant coffee
perfectly crafted
and a plan we wont follow through with
but we’ll keep looking at real estate listings
and imagining a life
that is more fantastic
and plush
with infinite bathrooms
and nowhere near as perfect
as the one we have right now
that is perfectly ordinary
and sometimes painful
with occasional mice
and unimaginable joy

Sacred Summer
i meant it when i said
i was yours from the start.
i’ll spend my days with you in grace,
tangled limbs and treacly words
edging the tips of our tongues
and spilling with a honeyed cadence
when we grow warmer
and the days grow longer,
my heart will be setting
with you in the late evenings;
flowerbed awaiting and pools of affection
filling—perpetually at the crescent of my heart,
overflowed by the essence of you.

Unlikely home owners
As a child, my Dad hated noisy footsteps, so I learned to walk on my tip-toes.
I stomp around my place like own the joint. Because I do. Own it. I never thought I would own a home after the GFC (yes, some of us living relics were there).
But thanks to generational wealth, I had life insurance. So, yeah, here I am. Stomping around my house.

he loves me.
i am broken
i am bloody
i am bruised
but he loves me.
he is constant and unwavering
as the sun
he shines on me and i am warm
because he loves me.

transgender poem
In the mirror, I see a reflection
A body that feels foreign, a soul in transition
A journey of self-discovery, of breaking free
From the confines of expectations, of society's decree
A trans man, navigating a world of uncertainty
Struggling to find his place, his identity
Challenging norms, defying labels
Embracing his truth, despite the fables
The weight of dysphoria, heavy on his shoulders
Navigating a world that tries to smolder
His flame, his spirit, his very existence
But he stands tall, with fierce persistence
The battles fought, both seen and unseen
The scars that remain, the wounds still keen
But through it all, he finds his strength
In the power of his truth, in the journey's length
So here he stands, a trans man proud
Defying the odds, speaking truth out loud
For in his struggles, he finds his voice
A beacon of hope, a reason to rejoice.

Queer
being queer is not all about sex
even though it is
when we must survive
just to have the pleasure
and love
so many see as every day
wanting is for the last of us
to take what we can
body is belonging
and identity lingers in love
learning how, with them
the gay & bi & lesbian
the butch for femme
the people who alternate
between wild and intimate
kiss that boy
that girl
or other lovelies
because our family
is hard to come by

Some people say unrequited love isn’t true love
Because it lacks reciprocity,
And without that, what is even the point?
Some people say that unrequited love is the purest form of love
Because you give so much love,
Even when that person can’t return it.
They say that unrequited love is the only true form of unconditional love,
Always loving someone even when they don’t love you back.
I’m not sure what I believe,
But I hope that when I finally tell you I love you for real,
You can say it back.
