Of course I don't mind! And ABSOLUTELY THIS ONE. I immediately thought "Wrecker" when I saw it on the list and was hoping someone would send it in!! I may have just written it anyway lol

Wrecker felt bad, but a little white lie wasn’t gonna hurt anyone. And it was believable that he’d forget something.

So when the rest of the Batch stayed at Cid’s thinking he was running back to the ship to grab something, he slipped through the back alleys to your apartment. He just didn’t want his brothers teasin’ him and taking his time away from you.

He had spent a few nights with you before, and now that he was back planetside, he couldn’t wait to be where he had started to consider home. That it would be a surprise made a smile spread easy over his lips.

Taking the steps two at a time, Wrecker punched in the code to your front door with barely restrained exuberance. In fact, he was so excited to finally have you in his arms, he didn’t fully register the sight in front of him before shouting.

“Where’s my sweet-”

Recognition stole his words as heat coursed through him. You had also frozen, a spoon caught between your teeth, interrupted mid-bite. But that wasn’t what got him. No what stole his words was how you sat — with each inch of your bare legs visible as they crisscrossed in front of you. Raising his eyes, he nearly lost it at the sight of your torso drowning in a shirt far too large for you, the black fabric looking very familiar.

“Wrecker!” You leapt from your seat to run to him, but before you could reach for him, Wrecker caught your arms, holding you lightly but firmly out in front of him.

“A-are you wearing my shirt?”

“Huh?” You looked down, tugging out the hem to make the shirt look even larger on you. Wrecker swallowed, hard. “Oh, yeah. I didn’t think you’d be back so soon. I … I like wearing them when you’re gone. Sorry.”

Your voice got quiet at the end of your explanation, your eyes darting demurely to the side. But Wrecker’s thoughts grew much louder and bolder as his smile returned.

“Oh no, don’t you apologize. Kriff, you look so good in that.”

He pulled you into him and knelt to get a good hold at the top of your thighs to lift you to his level. He wanted to kiss you until neither of you could breathe, and distance was his enemy to that end. But as he stood to his full height, you in his arms, he felt nothing but the flesh of your ass brush the top of his fingers.

A wry brow lifted, and Wrecker tightened his grip as a wave of heat coursed through him. “Heh, are you wearing only my shirt, pretty girl?” he asked playfully.

Maker, he wished his cybernetic eye could record the way Tech’s goggles could because he never wanted to forget how karking adorable you were when you nodded bashfully.

“It’s laundry day,” you said, as if that was an explanation he should understand. But he didn’t care. All he needed to understand was that you were in his arms, wearing literally nothing but his clothing and barely even that.

He let his hand slide higher, his fingers brushing against your core, groaning at the wetness that greeted him. You jolted in his grip, hands flying to his shoulders and holding on tight.

As if he would ever drop you. As if he would ever let you go.

“You been getting my shirt all wet and messy?” He grumbled, grinning at how you shiver in response to his voice so close to your ear.

“N-not on purpose,” you huffed, pride curling in him at your breathlessness. He dragged the tip of his finger through your folds to press against your clit, groaning again at your responding mewl.

The sounds you made could make him cum right there if he were a weaker man.

“Well, I say we do it on purpose.”

His shirt stayed on as he kissed you. It stayed on as he laid you out before him like a buffet, rucked up just enough to display everything you had to offer his eager tongue. It stayed on as he opened you up on his fingers, earning more of those pretty sounds as you came around him. And it stayed on as he flipped you over and bent you over the couch he found you on, taking his pleasure as he gave you yours.

What do you think the internal dynamics of the Specialists are? Like towards each other personally and also tactically on the field

Ok, I'm gonna try and make this short or else we're gonna be here all week

My first specialist ask I can't needlessly include Nabu (my love) in XDD

Combat Dynamics

Aka the short part

Sky:

Small hc but Sky at first didn't like swords because he was scared of hurting people but having their son be a RF specialist was good pr so his parents just decided he would be

Sky is good at working with someone, his decision making skills are piss poor (see: the show) but he can follow orders and stick to a plan like no one else so he usually handles the main threat or goes for the objective

His main combat skills is dueling, he's fucking amazing at it

Brandon:

Brandon is the leader because I say so. He's better at commutation and leading in general. He easily keeps track of everyone's skills and helps everyone work together despite their differences

His role in combat is usually crowd control with his broad sword, and his secondary is mostly used to taking people out rather than keeping them at bay

He has the most experience in combat

Timmy:

Handles the more technical aspects but isn't much of a combat planner. He can plan how to make defensives, but cant plan how to fight if that makes sense. Like the s2 planning is how to deal with a incoming threat, but he can't lead an army and call out mid combat commands like Tecna could

Prefers the ship or not being on the ground in the fight in general

Main combat skill is sharp shooting with literally anything you give him

Riven:

Riven is good at real fights. Like ones without rules, where the only objective is to win and not get hurt/survive. Most of his skills aren't legal moves in RF but they are useful as fuck

He's also good at breaking into places but he's shit at sneaking which is hilarious, but he's amazing at distractions

His combat skills lie mostly in fights where he can use his environment to his advantage

Helia:

Helia is actually the one who is surprisingly good at commanding mid battle he just hates it and refuses to do it bc he makes him scared

He's nervous and avoids the spotlight for fear of fucking up but has been so entrenched in this stuff for his whole life that he can pretty easily think about these things. It's like a logic puzzle

Main combat skills are his strings, and witch magic, he's also good at medic stuff which is a hc I picked up from somewhere else I can't remember I am sorry

Personal relationships

Sky & Brandon

S1: Their relationship is p complicated actually. There's a lot of co dependacy that was sorta forced on them. Sky straight up has never been allowed to function on his own, always having someone assigned to watch him, and Brandon hasn't been allowed to exist without being in charge of something. So they're relationship is complicated. On top of that, Sky recognizes most of what his parents say as bullshit, he's just too scared of them to do anything, but Brandon doesn't! So that's a dimension. They care a lot about each other but their up bringing makes life complicated

S2: Sky and Brandon are starting to separate from each other. They're still best friends but they've both be introduced to the idea of boundaries and are considering implementing them. It's slow going and they both miss having a "roll" and always having someone they can just expect to go along with them. Co-depdant relationships are comforting, and trying to move away is hard, they both end up trying to continue the same co dependacy with their partners, which is not good for either Bloom or Stella because both of them are EXTREMELY SUSPECTABLE to this kind of thing, its a bit of a mess. They both need real identifies outside of the ones assigned to them

S3: THEY HAVE SEPARATED AND ARE HEALING AND HAVE THEIR OWN IDENTIES AND ARE STILL BEST FRIENDS!!! Its still hard for them to see each other normally, and they feel very safe and comfortable when in each other's presence bc of their past dynamic, but they are being separate people. Sky's unfortunate mind control by his parents into the roll they want from him really scared him into trying to be his own person, when previously he was the one who struggled the most with it

Sky & Timmy

S1: They get along. Timmy appreciates that Sky protects him from bullies, and Sky just finds Timmy cool to be around

S2: Now that Timmy has begun growing a back bone he goes "Hey why are you hovering over me? I can handle myself now. Don't you have your own problems to worry about?" Sky has a LOT of anxious energy and he is channeling it into other people and Timmy no longer wants to deal with that

S3: Timmy thinks Sky is a fucking dumbass of the highest caliber (big fucking affectionate) and will help his friends destroy anyone who hurts him. They're on equal footing now, no weird dynamics, all is good

Sky & Riven

S1: Mutually don't like each other. Riven is paranoid and Sky has a tendency to just say shit, so they constantly but heads due to miscommunication

S2: Riven doesn't like him but Sky is intent on mother henning the depressed onion. He lets it slip that he thinks Sky would want him dead, Sky is horrified, and Riven thinks he's just trying to save face

S3: Riven finally believes that Sky's attempts at friendship are genuine, and steps in to comfort him after mind control trauma. They are friends

Sky & Helia

S2: Helia is standoffish but deferres to Sky and doesn't bother questioning enough that Sky never really feels the need to make a thing out of the fact Helia doesn't talk to people...they're very neutral about each other

S3: Helia has come out of his shell as the chaos gremlin he is and tries to fucking drop Erendor no hesitation. They still don't talk much but they consider themselves ride or die

Brandon & Timmy

S1: Protects Timmy from bullies but also tries to gently coax him into being more assertive, something Timmy didn't want him to do at the time. So he's thankful that he's so nice but also is aggressively hiding in his comfort zone

S2: Brandon's lack of coddling is a breath of fresh air, and he's also someone that Timmy can just have a conversation with without huge biases, fuck yeah

S3: They are vibing. Brandon doesn't quite believe Timmy when he says Tecna is out there like Sky does, but he's willing to hear him out. Mutual trust and understanding

Brandon & Riven

S1: Brandon is the only person Riven will listen to and the only person Riven respects. Riven reminds Brandon a lot of himself when he was early into being a servant, first fighting assassins, dealing with awful rich ppl. Brandon goes out of his way to try and include Riven and make him feel comfortable in the group. He recognizes Riven's behavior as a coping mechanism, a bad one that hurts people but one none the less, so has the easiest time interacting with him. Riven feels Brandon is the only person in the school that actually cares

S2: Brandon being the most emotionally intelligent has allowed him to be a VERY important part of Riven's post Darcy support system. Helping Riven keep up with the stuff he learned in therapy, helping him cope better. Fun stuff. Unfortunately for Brando, Riven is officially clear headed enough to point out that Brandon seems to think he's inherently of less value than Sky. Not like as his job, but like as a person. And is now picking at all of Brandon's long held propaganda, which makes Brandon SO fucking uncomfortable. Brandon's personality and mode of functioning has been severely impacted by the conditioning he went through, the fact that he's definitely killed someone, dealing with rich people who do whatever they want. Brandon carefully hides these from normal people, and Riven is like "if they don't like the real you then fuck them. Your trauma isn't your fault."

S3: FRIENDS!! They kick each other when they fall back into bad habits. Riven tries his best to communicate to Brandon when Erendor and Samara go to Valtor, that they've always been awful and that his conditioning was child abuse. He's supporting Brandon now. Riven doesn't understand all the political stuff but he can yell Brandon's own words back at him. Riven positively loses it when he finds out that Brandon has been kidnapped and held in a cell before (I still can't believe that's canon) and Brandon appreciates him

Brandon & Helia

S2: The way Brandon introduces Helia implies he doesn't like him which I think is fucking hilarious. I think they both recognize what the other is like and because their so similar they piss each other off because they keep stepping on each other's toes. I also think it would be really funny if the two smart chill planners had a secret beef going on. Brandon doesn't vibe with Helia knowing so much about him without talking, Helia doesn't vibe with the colder aspects of Brandon's personality that was developed though training. Self Identification though the other /neg

S3: they're far more comfortable with expressing themselves now and have unfortunately for everyone else figured out they have a similar sense of humor. Brandon will fuck with people, and Helia will commit to the bit. God help the fool who draws both of their attention at once

Riven & Helia

S2: Helia sees depressed s2 Riven and goes "we are friends now" and Riven just has to deal with it. Helia was first interested in Riven bc Saladin specifically mentioned him the most often as a victim, so Helia wanted to look out for him and it spiraled out of control form there. They're both willing to go ape shit but in different ways, this is their friendship

S3: Chaotic dumbass friends. Riven aggressively has been bitching at Helia to actually talk to the rest of the specialists, much to the local hermit's distaste, and then found out they were cool. He is now Significantly more unhinged. Woe

ok so i'm sort of a noob and have only read iwtv + tvl + qotd and i've found myself kind of at a crossroads bc i have a lethally strong obsession with armand - like, it's bad - and can't wait to finally get to read tva but feel like i shouldn't skip ttotbt and memnoch out of fear of missing out on significant chunks of story key to the overall chronology leading up to tva.. so i thought i should ask you your thoughts on whether it would be detrimental to the reading to skip those two (for now)

Okay, look...

I'm not gonna lie to you! I was around 12/13 when I got into VC and the very first book I read was TVA -- I didn't realize it was a sequential series; my thought process was "oh this looks like a cool historical fiction yay vampires let'ssss goooo" but I'm also the kind of person that looks up movie plots on Wikipedia and always flips to the end of the book before getting too invested because I don't like not knowing!

So, like... I don't know, I always hate when blogs act like fandom authorities and tell new fans: "DON'T READ XYZ BECAUSE I DIDN'T LIKE IT/IT RUINED MY HEADCANONS" (let people read and decide for themselves!). I'm not saying that LOL please read them all! And read some of Anne's other stuff once you're done with VC, because I think having that additional context paints a much richer picture of her canon and where she's coming from.

But I will say that if you're desperate and frothing at the mouth for Armand (which believe me, it's the story of my fucking life) then you're not going to find him in TotBT and the plot points there aren't directly relevant to his story/characterization.

However, MtD, while being absolutely wild, does have some of my favorite Armand moments of all time (in my heart that book is only the Armand moments) and the events that happen are pretty important leading up to TVA. Armand sadly isn't in it a whole lot but his parts are gold! And I mean, baby me could figure out what was going on in TVA without having read MtD, but you'll definitely be less like that meme of Julia Roberts doing math if you do just go ahead and read it.

So it's really up to you! And if you skip TotBT this time in your rush to get to Armand (🥹), I would strongly suggest reading it some point because imo it is an excellent psychoanalysis of Lestat. And I'm not just saying this because I ship them or whatever, but in order to fully appreciate Armand, I think you have to understand Lestat, and TotBT really is that book for me.

But you can always come back and do a chronological read through later, I was all over the fucking place when I started and I'm fine!

The sky was grey and Mal swore it had been blue a few seconds ago.

Blood steadily dripped down his side at an alarming rate, staining the ground a greying-red, but he didn't have enough strength to try and stop the bleeding. Instead, the captain watched as colour slowly leeched out of the world, leaving everything a monochrome grey.

Mal was tired of fighting. All he's ever done was fight and he was sick of it. He deserved a break, he deserved to rest, gorram it.

Slowly, he closed his eyes against the greying sunlight -

Zoë and Wash holding each other as the ship around them blows up -

A plot of disturbed ground, the name 'Jayne' carved crudely into a stone marker -

Inara back at the Guild, smiling but never really smiling -

Kaylee working at her dad's workshop back home but looking more like a stormcloud than his little ball of sickly sweet sunshine -

Book on another ship, locking his door, gun in his belt, no Bible in sight -

Simon drugged and bound, alone in a small cell, the grey Alliance prison uniform hanging off his too thin frame -

River screaming, needles in her eyes, blood on her hands, chanting don't don't don't -

Mal screamed, the wound in his stomach burning like hellfire, the visions still flashing behind his eyelids everytime he closed his eyes.

Gorram it all.

With a pained hiss the Captain of Serenity dragged himself into a semi-conscious, semi-upright position, willing the tiredness away, a hand clamped over his wound, willing his blood to flow slower.

Damn his crew.

Malcolm Reynolds started to stumble back to his ship, his visions follow in the shadows, colour slowly seeping back into the world.

I don't necessarily eniteley hate Saberza. Hell, I feel bad that the line about them being siblings is about to get some people hella fucking dog piled. Because the level of vitriol they're about to catch is gonna be unnecessarily bad and for a fictional ship, at that. But, I'm not gonna lie and say I'm upset that some people are gonna stop shipping it. Cause that line was music to my fucking ears.

I hate how the ship appears 98% of the time. It's so fucking boring and such a fucking Het (Derogatory) Ship, even if they're both queer. It also appeals to the group that defangs female characters so they're the correct kind of soft for shipping.

Let, Sabine and Shin Hati be Feral Queers with each other. Want Ezra with a Wren? Tristan is right there. We can be so much more interesting and fun that the flour take of Sabezra.

I truly, honestly sympathize with the Sabezra shippers and hope (a fool's hope; SW fans are the Worst™) that the fandom at least has the decency to practice the "block and ignore" and "your ship is not my ship and that's ok" policies because, like you said, it's all just make-believe crap and no reason to be an ass to people online.

But yeah, nonny, I also share your sentiment about the whole "thank fuck we dodged another boring-ass vanilla het ship"—and I don't say that out of hatred for M/F ships, but more so the absolute gut-wrenching failure on the part of professional writers to build a legitimately interesting, believable, complex (not conflicted, but complex in the sense of being fully fleshed-out, built upon something other than just raw sexual attraction) relationship between a male and female character without gutting their entire development arcs and reducing them to soppy banal cliches. (Like what you mentioned about writers "defanging" female characters to make them softer and more likeable. Yeah, that shit reeks. I'm not going to fault fanfic authors for not having unlearned this subtle-yet-deeply-ingrained flavor of misogyny yet—it's going to take a while to root out something so pervasive and insidious—but I am going to hold the professionals fully accountable for delivering egregious, sophomoric drivel and telling us it's Grade-A storytelling.)

Fantastic M/F ships can be done. Look at Pacific Rim. Literally any Hayao Miyazaki film featuring two main characters of the opposite sex.

Or maybe it's time to forget the "confirmed ship" stuff altogether and leave the entire relationship open to interpretation, like what people have been doing with Sabezra for the last nine years. (And what canon queer relationships/characters have been dealing with for decades, relegated to hints and easily-censored dialogue, keeping it "toned down" and "wholesome" to appeal to straight audiences who still hate them at the end of the day. But I digress.)

Bottom line, I think if writers spent more time focused on the story and individual characters instead of trying to set the boy up with the girl, it would do wonders for the quality of storytelling as well as preventing this caustic Pavlovian reaction we (I) are starting to have any time we're offered male/female romance onscreen. That's my opinion, anyway.

YEAH YEAH YEAH. pretty much all my recent major ships have had age gap (ardynoct, askefinn, sladin, etc). i've figured out recently that i find it kind of boring when the two characters are on the same level, and age gap is an easy way to effect that power imbalance.

Codependency: +10

yep yes and always. love when two people are each other's world. love when they would do anything for each other and that's a bad thing. love when they destroy themselves for each other.

Obsession/Possessiveness, jealousy: +7

see above lol. this one gets a lower score because jealousy can get a little annoying. i actually like it when characters AREN'T jealous... like, A trying to make B jealous and B doesn't care, because they know A will come crawling back to them sooner or later.... nice... if the jealousy is warranted (like an above situation w flirting/cheating/etc) then that crosses the line into love triangle which i'm not big on, and if it isn't warranted it gets annoying. i like obsession and possessiveness a lot but jealousy doesn't necessarily have to be part of that.

Opposites (grumpy/sunshine etc): 0

eh, it's okay. i prefer it when two characters in a ship are shockingly similar, even if they have completely different values/motives/goals, whatever. opposites can be cute but it's not really my thing.

Enemies to lovers, Enemies with benefits: +9

i started writing a paragraph about how i prefer enemies to remain fucked up and awful even if they get into a relationship, but then i remembered all the crying i've done imagining soft sweet Wales endgame askefinn and i was like yeah, let's not lie today LOL. both are good.

Friends with benefits: -5

where's the ROMANCE? where's the DRAMA? where's the OBSESSION? it's not like i hate it but i typically want a more substantial emotional attraction y'know. also, a lot of the fic i've read recently does... not really involve the characters in question being friendly lmaooo.

Sex to feelings: 0

this is a difficult one to rate because it can be very very different depending on the existing dynamic. are we talking about two strangers who keep hooking up and develop feelings? two enemies who feel nothing but hate for each other, but their relationship starts to change once they have sex? i guess this trope is more the former, which isn't something i would actively look for but isn't something i dislike either, so it gets an even 0.

Fake dating/relationship: +6

god i used to read this trope so so often. i'm not huge on established relationship because i want to see the relationship grow (rereading this i realize it makes me look like a tool because i've written a bunch of established relationship recently but like... I KNOW how they got there ok. my city now), but i also love cutesy romantic shit, so fake dating is right up my alley (along with arranged marriage and soulmates for the same reason). bonus if the faking is very uncomfortable for one or both characters. put those blorbos in a psychologically stressful situation where they have to pretend to be happy 👌

Friends to lovers: +3

yeah it's fine. see above, i like my ships terrible and fucky. this trope doesn't usually facilitate that. if it's awful friends to awful lovers i'm all over it.

Found Family: -9

not gonna lie, i wasn't big on found family in the first place and kingdom hearts fandom utterly destroyed whatever little interest i had in it. while i like platonic relationships in original fiction, for fic i rarely if ever read gen fic. it's shipping or bust for me. if they aren't doing the nasty (physically or emotionally) i'm not interested.

Hurt/Comfort: +8

ohhhhh yeaaaahhhhh babyyyyyyyy i'm all about that whump. love it when a blorbo is harmed and another blorbo has to help them. i can go for hurt/no comfort too sometimes but only if i'm in the mood for it.

Love Triangle: -6

yeaaaah no. this is another area where i like them in original fiction but am not at all into it in fic. i like my ships with two characters (who preferably have no interest in anyone else).

Poly, open relationships: -5

i do have some multi character ships (pyra/mythra/rex/nia is the one that immediately comes to mind, though i don't typically read xenoblade fic) but i'm not usually a fan, for the same reason i mentioned for love triangles. a lot of times i'm only here for one or two characters in the relationship so anyone extra feels unnecessary and distracting.

Mistaken/hidden identity: +5

i probably would've given this a lower score if i wasn't in my sladin revival era. superhero secret identities are perfect for conflict.

Monsterfucking: +8

gave this an 8 because when it leans too far into furry/bestiality territory that's when i'm out. generally love monsters of all kinds though, and all the hentai-esque tropes that come with it.

Pregnancy: -8

hate kid fics. god do i hate kid fics. this only gets a -8 and not -10 because unwanted pregnancy fics that do not end with a kid being born can be pretty angsty, which is nice.

Second Chance: +6

second chance for... what? as in a redemption arc? sure i'm down for that. also down for a character getting a second chance even though they have not earned it, because another character refuses to give up on them/let go. second chance time travel where a character gets to go back and redo something is also top tier.

Slowburn: +1

this one was very hard to rate. i've read some slowburns that i absolutely loved. i'm currently writing a slowburn where it's 20k in and the mfers haven't even held hands. but i also get bored easily and if it's TOO slow it begins to feel like the fic is dragging its feet. to keep me interested i usually like if there's another element going on, like fake dating, enemies to lovers, heavy whump, etc.

Soulmates: +9

YES. YES YES YES. LOVE THAT. again, it's a way to have both relationship development AND immediate sex/romance. especially good when the soulmates are enemies or otherwise not suited to each other in any way whatsoever and this is surely the work of a god with a very shitty sense of humor. i have written and read many soulmates fics and i intend on writing and reading many more.

ok I have finished the preliminary rotation of trigun 98 and stampede in my mind.

i gotta make several posts about this i think. and as always im here 30min late w starbucks im sure others have already said all this better but!

Re: sci fi politics:

to start with, trigun 98 was one of the first handful of anime I watched when I first stated watching anime 10 years ago and ever since it's been in my list of favorites. but I admit over the years I kind of forgot what exactly I loved about it except the obvious stuff (that animation style, unconventional protags, inhuman characters, futuristic vibe). and then I started rewatching and the first few episodes are just. story after story about how power corrupts and inequality harms everyone and in desperate situations how often any power does get abused and. the evils of capitalism. and I was like oh. yeah. that would do it for teen me. still does!!

now I respect that stampede was trying to do approximately what 98 did in half the runtime but what it feels like they did was sacrifice both the politics and villain of the week setup in order to narrow the focus to do more backstory on the main characters than 98 actually got around to. I do think the characterization of knives and wolfwood added a lot to stampede, I felt knives was a bit more 3 dimensional and I'm not gonna lie I was not really sure what 98 wolfwoods deal was besides being a convenient narrative foil. but even knowing the pacing would be different and getting more coherent backstory, I still pretty much immediately missed both the wacky early episode villains (the old character designs were so fucking sick) and how often the heroes showed up to some town and wrecked shop for some old money capitalist asshole exploiting people. that was good shit. it felt like a tangible good, in the world of the show- breaking people out of their oppression, giving them a fighting chance in a hostile landscape. stampede's villains show up and threaten to hurt people, sure, but they're not so systemic. even the way the people on the ship- Home, in stampede, forgot if that's what it was called in 98- are portrayed as having made an isolationist choice in 98 and not in stampede... idk the moral heart of the story was a bit lacking for me. its still a good story but it was just missing part of what was initially one of the main draws for me.

Favorite Male: Killian Jones. There's no contest. Just Killian.

Favorite Female: Emma Swan. There's no contest. Just Emma.

Favorite Pairing: Ok I'm gonna list both my favorite main pairing and favorite side pairing.

Favorite Main Pairing: Captain Swan. You all knew this was gonna be my answer don't lie. Finally watched the Captain Swan wedding for real and it is the best thing ever. Also started season 7 officially and THEY'RE HAVING A BABY!

Favorite Side Pairing: Mr. Hyde x Mary Lydgate (I don't know what the ship name is someone plz help). Gonna be honest I don't exactly know why I think about them as much as I do. Maybe it's because Hyde is also a favorite, or because of their dynamic in general, or because I wish we saw more of them, but I just think about them a lot and what they meant to each other. I'm attached to a pairing that was together for ONE episode??? It's more likely than you think.

Least Favorite Character: uhhhhhhhhhhhh I got a few

Fiona "The Black Fairy". I did not like her. Yeah she's a villain so she's meant to be rooted against but other villains in the show are at least ENTERTAINING. Regina was an entertaining villain (and the og). Zelena was fucking hilarious (and still is as a hero I'm glad they kept that part of her). Cruella de Vil is a cruel dog murderer but I was always interested when she was on screen. But Fiona? She was just a bitch, and not an enjoyable one. I just wanted someone to finally end her. Was so satisfied when Rumple killed her for good.

Mother Superior/"The Blue Fairy". Just because I don't like Fiona and she and Blue were foils doesn't mean I like the Blue Fairy. I agree with the rest of the fandom that she was shady as fuck. She does some good things but also a lot of rude and shady ones. The way she treated Tinkerbell was awful, and her overall "I art holier than thou" attitude was just unpleasant. I could never really tell if she actually wanted to help the heroes or not, which would have been an interesting thing to think about during the show if not for her over-the-top self-righteousness.

Rumplestiltskin (Season 4, Season 5B-Season 6A. Season 7 TBD). He has had many opportunities to redeem himself and be a good person, which he claims he wants to be, but over and over again he kept clinging to "muh power." He is entertaining as a villain overall, and I do like Rumbelle, but not when he is being borderline abusive and possessive of her. I specified specific seasons where I don't like him because those are where he fucks up the most imo. 5A could have been his perfect redemption arc, and he was finally free of the Dark One Curse, but he willingly chose to take that power back. Which makes his actions more irritating in 5B. 6A Rumple was god awful. However, I am glad that by 6B he got his shit together (most of the time) and ultimately did the right thing. *I will say that I enjoy Rumple the most when he is in full-on Dad mode. Which is part of why I like him again in 6B. He genuinely cares about his sons, and I believe him when he says he would do anything for them.* Rumple in Season 7 has yet to be determined as I have not finished it yet.

Who's Most Like Me: Ok imma be completely honest I don't actually know. I feel like my answer, if i have one, would just be me projecting myself onto the character and not actually looking at canon.

Most Attractive: Killian is the obvious choice but ngl more than half of the entire cast slays. The costume department is a big reason why. I agree with the idea that most of the budget went towards the costumes and honestly that is 100% valid of them to do.

Three More Characters I Like: Here ya go:

Elsa. Fuck y'all the Frozen arc was great and Elsa was great and she cares about Anna and Kristoff and becomes besties with Emma and doesn't understand talking phones with Killian and she's great and I may or may not have shipped her with Liam (the first) at one point even though there is literally no way that could ever happen but consider this: it'd be cute.

Zelena (Season 5B and onward. Season 7 TBD). I mentioned how she was a very entertaining villain but ngl I think she's even more entertaining when she's on the heroes' side. She still has 100% of her sass, it's just now directed at people who deserve it. Like Fiona for example :D. I also love when she and Regina work together and help each other. I also believe, like Rumple, that she genuinely cares about her daughter, and seeing her go mom-mode is great. Overall, I think she became a much more likeable and enjoyable character after 5A, and especially by mid 6A. Zelena in Season 7 has yet to be determined as I have not finished it yet.

Lily Page. So from what I've seen online I'm not the only one that was hoping to see more of her after Season 4, right? I thought she was an interesting character, and I'm happy she finally reunited with her mom, Maleficent. Lily being her daughter was a plot twist I don't think anyone expected, but I really liked it! I would have honestly loved to see an episode where Lily and Emma, and maybe a few others, go searching for Lily's dad. They introduced that arc for Lily in the Season 4 finale, but then it didn't go anywhere. (Ok so I have been spoiled that it's revealed in Season 7 at the very end but I wish we got more than that ngl). I like Lily, I just wish we got to see more of her.

...Okay you joke about aroace Wind being horribly confused by the neck scene in Engineers journal, but not gonna lie, I'm aroace and that was literally my reaction to it. I was like "...ookay, I see why grabbing someones neck while they're unconscious is a bit much, but why is that being treated like a breaking point, nothing even happened, its just a neck." Had to be filled in by the comments section lmaooo

Huh, I guess it's time to talk about the neck scene.

First off, please note that this post is not tagged with anything fandom for a reason and I have made this post unreblog-able. This is meant for CTB people only, as you guys have the full context of the story and understand what my vision is (even if my execution is questionable).

Ok, good.

Back in the chapter's commentary, I said I was going to talk at length about the neck thing and some of my decisions surrounding that plot point. Now is the time to do it, so let's go.

The idea behind this plot point is that I wanted Link to ruin the brotherhood in his pursuit to exert control over the engineer. I had the idea for this scene since the conception of this fic (and I will dig more into that in a moment), but I obviously did not want to risk being misinterpreted.

I tried to think of another way to destroy the brotherhood, but two significant character details severely restricted my options: a) Link could not stop "caring" about the engineer, and b) the engineer's limits for being able to call Link his brother have to be something that somehow surpasses extreme violence.

Having Link toss out the platonic relationship for a failed attempt at something more was the only way I could maintain both character details. Link gets to continue "caring" about the engineer while violating the engineer's clearly defined boundaries.

This also plays a lot into how both of them treat relationships, with Link looking to exert control over others (and himself) while the engineer is searching for relief. This conflict as been building up for many chapters now, so here was the time for it to clash, with the engineer being the decided victor.

Which takes us to why the neck? Well, I wanted some way for Link to express a non-platonic feeling without him needed to touch the bathing suit area. Touching the thigh was too sultry, but the neck was the right mixture of innocuous and creepy.

It's important to note that this is in part influence by my perspective. A while back, a friend of mine started to touch the back of my neck when he developed feelings for me, which is in part of why I view neck-touching as strangely intimate. The neck in general is just a very vulnerable spot that, when you think about it, a lot of people do not like to be touched at. I also just think vampires are hot, ergo neck-touching is kinda sexy.

I was hoping that even if people are not informed by the same experiences as I am, Link's inner musings accompanying the neck touching would help clue the reader into how they should feel about it. In retrospect, I can definitely see how readers can be kinda confused by what's so significant about it.

So, yeah. I played it a little bit dangerously here and really tempted fate in order to achieve this one plot point, especially when I really wanted to make sure that nothing happened in it that could be considered shipping.

To make it explicitly clear:

"But Frankie, what did you mean that you had this idea since the beginning of this fic?"

Well, okay. Let's talk about deleted content. This is a plotline that never made it to the final product, so please do not consider this canon material the way other deleted ideas have been treated.

I talked a while ago about how even when I decided to commit to the toxic relationship angle for Link and the engineer, I had to pull back on a lot of my ideas in order to make it palatable. One of those ideas was a version of Link and the engineer's relationship that toed that no-shipping line by a lot.

Here's the basics: at the start of the story, the engineer was not going to know that he was bisexual. But after meeting Link, an objectively handsome guy around his age who seemed to care about him a lot, he had his bi-awakening. However, he really struggled with this awakening as he was already in a relationship and felt like he was betraying his Zelda. His goal was to not let anyone know about his crush and to get over it as soon as possible.

Meanwhile, Link realized early on why the engineer was both clingy and distant with him and started teasing him for it. The teasing was fairly mean as he just liked to see the engineer get flustered and frustrated without realizing that he was being toyed with. Link was going to be an expert at appearing innocuous whenever he teased the engineer to make the engineer think that it was all in his head.

But as the engineer got more comfortable in his role in the war, his crush went away and he affirmed his appreciation for Link's emotional support and the family unit he built with him by calling him his brother, which Link accepts.

That is, until Link starts cheating on Lana.

Remember that scene where Link got drunk and had to be hauled back to camp by the engineer? Originally, Link pissed the engineer off not only by telling him to cheat on Zelda, but by taking his teasing way too far by propositioning him (as a drunken joke). That's when the engineer realized that he had been toyed with for almost a year now. That would spark a fight between them.

However, the engineer would come to forgive Link, in part because Link convinced him he was actually sorry, and because the engineer did not want to disrupt the family dynamic he had built with Link.

From there, the relationship would continue as it has been in the final story. But with the added context and relationship history, Link's neck touching scene would be an even bigger "fuck you" to the engineer.

This entire subplot was based on the idea of the homoerotic nature of a soldier's bond. I wrote a thesis part about this in college, but basically wars can offer a way for men to develop close bonds with other men that could not exist in a heteronormative society.

This subplot took a very literal interpretation of it, but even then, it's obvious by the summary that even with a confirmed crush involved, this was not meant to be shipping content. This was meant to offer another look at Link's paradoxical cruelty and love.

But even I can admit that it skirts way too close to the idea of shipping. That's why I took it out of the final story. I just did not have the energy back then to argue with people about what counted as shipping.

Actually, I still do not have this energy, which begs the question as to why I would go include any form of this plot.

A/N: I appreciate sooooo much all the notes and good vibes I got on Part 1 of this, I'll admit this started as brainrot at first but now it's become a genuine passion project. I've been going through a lot of work stress and trying to leave my current agency so I appreciate (if any) the waiting for this part. I love all of y'all we're in this together. But this is shorter definitely than the last part I cannot lie.

Angel.

His name was Angel. There must've been some sort of irony in that right? The worst day of my life, probably the Haywoods, and his life...but I met Angel.

After he took a face first dive into my stomach OJ drove us into the city to go to Angels apartment. I wasn't about to argue since I was just glad to not be by myself at my own place, and the fact I was included at all was pretty polite of them. What I wasn't I wasn't expecting was the studio apartment in the middle of the city with one twin bed, a bitcoin station, and 5x3 home PC set up with VR included.

Again, at this point I was willing to do anything for the company of other people, so I didn't say shit. I just walked in after the Haywoods and laid on Angels bed and put my face in his pillow. Presumptuous? Yeah. But I did just watch my boss and his family get eaten by a flying saucer that wasn't a ship or "Viewers" at all and was in fact an alien the whole time so I was ready to fight for my right to be sad.

"That's my - ok that's fine you can lay there -"

"I'm gonna beat the shit out of you if you talk to me for the next 24 hours."

He didn't say anything, but I could feel him look at the siblings for help. All he got was a;

"It's been a long night for all of us" from OJ and no one else said anything until Angel offered his second VR headset to Emerald (I was eavesdropping).

I laid there for the rest of the night until Angel brought out one of his blunts, and I abruptly threw myself off his bed, back onto my feet, before stumbling over to him with one of his VR headsets on. I noticed Em off in the corner with another one on (one of the ones he offered earlier I assumed).

I wobbled onto my knees and started patting him on the legs so I didn't freak him out, before gently reaching out and grabbing his hand holding the blunt, and taking it from his fingers. He lifted the headset and made eye contact with me before actually letting it go.

I hadn't given myself any time to actually take him in before, but now that I was looking at him...he was cute. Like really cute. I don't know how I missed it before but wow...I feel dumb. He was looking at me like he hadn't taken me in until now either. We didn't say anything as I took a hit, but we held eye contact the whole time until I reached the blunt up back to his own lips and he took his own hit. It was oddly intimate for the situation we were in, but it felt good to be close with someone. Intimate.

I left the blunt between his lips before I went back to his bed but laid down on my side this time so we were still making eye contact. He was using that stupid fucking headset for another hour I think before he got up and walked over.

"...Am I just sleeping on my own floor or are you gonna move?"

I wish I made that up. He was being so serious it was embarrassing.

"Well I'm not moving, but luckily for you, this twin bed is big enough for the both of us. What kind of grown man has a twin bed anyway?"

I was grumbling to myself at that point though because he was sliding next to me facing the opposite way without saying anything. I rolled my eyes after he never responded and sat up to see if either of the siblings were seeing the bullshit I was seeing. Only OJ was still up and shrugged at me when I motioned to Angel and gave the universal "Wtf?" face. Oh Well. I guess?

At some point in the night I was annoyed because Angel kept moving back and forth and...whimpering? Groaning? I'm not sure but he was making some sort of really sad noise in his sleep and I definitely made sure he was still asleep. I got tired of it finally and rolled over and grabbed him around the middle so he'd stop moving, crying, groaning, whatever he was doing. It worked thankfully, and he stopped making noise. Unfortunately for me though I noticed he was fucking ripped, and I just had to do nothing with that information. I thought he worked for Fry's? What kind of Fry's Electronics employee was built like this?

As opposed to how I felt though it did feel good to have someone to ground myself since up until this point I wasn't able to sleep myself. Every time I closed my eyes all I heard was screams. Those people that Amber had worked so hard to get passes for, Ms. Mary Jo Elliot, my fellow staff members...I should've been there but I had some last minute filing to do. I was that close to being one of them...one of those screams. From the sound of it they weren't even put out of their misery right away. That night when that creature went back to the Haywood Ranch was when they'd been...consumed. It made me nauseous just to think about it, so sleep was not coming easy.

But while I was holding Angel things seemed to stop in my head. The what if's, what happened, what was to come. Everything just paused for a moment and I would hold him forever if it meant it would stay like that.

The next day things went pretty much the same way they did the day before except we had to borrow some of Angels clothes. I borrowed a shower as well hoping I'd feel better. I didn't but an attempt was made and that's what mattered. It wasn't until that night after going to some chain fish place with the other's. It looked like me and OJ were the only ones not too interested in eating though, when we were leaving and Em got a phone call from a Photographer or Film expert they'd worked with before. Calling us back. One last round.

Bungo Stray Dogs Season 1 Anime Review

Does Include Spoilers....

Ok so I started watching Bungo Stray Dogs and like most I started because of Dazai. He was sexy and even with his wish for suicide he just got to me. Then I watched the first season and was so happy I did it pulled me in fast. Dazai quickly lost the main reason for the show for me it honestly became my favorite character in first season being Atsushi Nakajima. He had so much heart and compassion that the rest lost so long ago. He made me feel as he learned who he was and who he could help. I grew a strong liking to the character and even shipped him with Kyōka Izumi the way he saved her and even the fact he took her on a date they were just too adorable not to love. Ranpo Edogawa caught my interest mainly cause the voice actor Hiroshi Kamiya who played Baldr Hringhorni in Kamigami No Asobi. I was really surprised that Doppo Kunikida even grew on me and his comedian side to him of how he was with Dazai and always knocking the crap out of him but I could tell he was a good man. Anyways Kunikida's power is pretty cool "The Matchless Poet". I love how he can throw the cards out and whatever it is appears. I also think him and Dazai work so great together.

Now don't get me wrong Osamu Dazai is still a big part of the show and I found it funny how he was about the whole suicide with a beautiful woman. It left me wondering why he wanted to die so much but I know its shown as the seasons go on cause I started season 2 already and already starting to understand but I will leave that in season 2 review of it. So the relationship between Jun'ichirō Tanizaki & Naomi Tanizaki was so weird at first but fuck it I didn't even care they were siblings because not only do you easily forget but they don't look alike at all I feel like maybe there is like an adoption kinda story to them maybe. Anyways you know early on their is not only a relationship with them but its also sexual. However when she almost gets killed the way he responds to losing her and later as well he doesn't get even as a brother he gets even as a lover so I'm gonna treat them just as that fuck it, its not like sibling loves bother me much in anime/otome world. Plus not gonna lie Jun'ichiro his power "Light Snow" is pretty damn neat.

Yukichi Fukuzawa seems like a stickler in the beginning but you find he truly believes in his team and he grew on me. I felt like he cares about each and everyone of them and will fight for them at any cost. He is practically Daddy to them all and I think they would fall apart sometimes if he wasn't the lead of it all. Chūya Nakahara seems to be a cool character but of course I feel like he isn't really a main in the first season however I find him actually pretty attractive as well but I swear its how he dresses more than anything its so damn sharp looking. He gives me that true mafia/yakuza feel to how he looks and dresses. He seems to have anger issues but I love his banter between him and Dazai however I don't see this romance so many want and like. I will pass for now both men are hot and I would gladly be in between these men could make a very interesting smut story thats for sure... lol.

Michizō Tachihara seems like a crazy fuck but still pretty cool character so far based on the first season at least, look forward to seeing him more later he has my attention at least. Even though Ryūnosuke Akutagawa is an asshole in the first season he has one of the coolest powers by far his Rashōmon power like a dragon like creature that he can cut people down easily with. I feel bad for Ichiyō Higuchi because you find fast she is so damn in love with that man and he treats her like pure crap however doesn't stop her from taking on the enemies to bring him back when he is captured. The one sentimental moment where he grabs her hand after she saves him I really wanted after he told her he was sorry I wanted her to tell him she loved him I wonder if it would have changed. I feel like his issue is he doesn't even see her following to him is because she loves him. However its a very toxic relationship at least first season, I just hope it gets better because I think they would be good together plus bad guy or not he is fuckin hot too. Speaking of Ichiyō Higuchi honestly girl has some balls and she will do anything even die for that man I can respect her because she probably could have gotten out from what you get from her but she refuses to leave his side. Gin Akutagawa I still don't know much about him but still seems mysterious and attractive cause of that.

After breaking down the people that all made it interesting for me, yes I know there is more these just happen to be my list of favorites. Still amazes me a show with alot of hot bad guys kinda reminds me of Piofiore in that sense. Anyways I feel like it brings a decent amount of action however every part doesn't have to have it which I really like since I normally don't watch ones that are too heavy on it. I love Dazai's power and how he can hush any of the others with his power practically neutralizing even some of the worst bad guys. I still don't see anyone being gay and I will stand by that and I'm ok because seriously too many hot guys for me to even think about them together I would rather think about them being straight makes it easier to fantasize about them then. Overall I would gladly recommend this to anyone whether your into otome and shoujo the most I think you could still like this if nothing but the comedy side of things. I look forward to the next upcoming seasons as I catch up I will write my review on each season.

My Cabinet of Curiosities episode ranking

Ok, I know I couldn't be later to the damn party but I gotta do this. Spoiler alert. Also you can critique me or add something but be chill m'kay?

8. Lot 36

I felt like it was giving me nothing. I knew what was gonna happen to the guy(it was justified but boring). The monster design was interesting but that's about it

7. Graveyard Rats

No, I'm not going by the og ep order if you're wondering. I felt like this is Lot 36's twin. The protagonist is a bad person and is pushed further into his misdeeds by crippling amounts of debt, he does something incredibly fucking dumb and then gets killed off. The slight difference here is that it's unclear if the protagonist would be as shitty as he is without the debt. Honestly, I only put it higher than Lot 36 because of the aesthetic.

6. Dreams in the Witch House

I'm not gonna lie, I wish I had something to say but I don't. I just felt kinda confused after the episode. I probably would have put it at 8 if I've read the original story and seen how they failed it. But I haven't, so I didn't have any expectations either. And because of that it was slightly more interesting for me. Umm, idk, show the gif?

5. The Viewing

Oh I am mad mad that this got rated higher than The Outside. Don't get me wrong, aesthetically it's really on a whole other level. The music, colors, dialogues. But it led to right about... nothing? Maybe I'm missing something but there seems to be not much to the message and the monster at the end is really basic for all the hype that was built up. And while I did put this at 5, know that I was disappointed as fuck.

4. Pickman's model

Now, as much as I love the ship I also read the original story after watching this episode. I can see why so many people were disappointed. The point was to show the horror of discovering that the monsters you could only dream of are real not those monsters coming for your family, which is pretty basic imo. I feel like more thought should've been put in the drawings because so much focus was on them. Some of them were good, but the witch painting was meh, and half the episode was dedicated to it. The dynamic between Thurber and Pickman hard-carried tho and the horror is less underwhelming than The Viewing.

3. The Murmuring

Can't talk shit about it because this was the episode that scared me the most. I liked the emotional aspect to the story. Husband was bugging me out, but idk if that's because of my biases or not, he seemed like a fine charachter. Wished they utilized the birds more tho. Also someone pointed out that this is really similar to Babadook(the main actress is also the same person lmao) and as someone who watched a lot of reviews of Babadook(so many to the point I was confused if I watched the movie or not) I see the resemblance.

2. The Outside

While the commentary on beauty standards and social conformity is nothing new I still love it. I completely understand where the character was coming from. I loved the main couple more than I did in The Murmuring. And in the end our main girl doesn't get some out of the blue karmic punishment. I wasn't really scared, but I was starting to be a bit unsettled by her when her transformation started.

1. The Autopsy

I can't complain, I was fully entertained, a bit scared, I loved the villain and I could empathize with the main hero like I could in The Outside. The autopsy parts itself are pretty unsettling, and pretty sad if you know that the human whose body the alien occupied is still there and is feeling all the pain. The villain was imo playful which made it fun for me(however, you might as well keep your mouth shut if you know that you revealing stuff like this can get your race clapped). And the ending is satisfying, especially because it took a sacrifice on the main hero's part
