He had never seen Roscoe act like that - sewis
He had never seen Roscoe act like that.
Sebastian was honestly a little bit baffled if he could be honest. He and Roscoe were cordial, if one could define a human-dog relationship like that. And it took a lot of work to get to that point, where he and Roscoe were something more than polite frenemies.
If Seb had been informed a few years ago that he would be seriously contemplating his strained relationship with his boyfriend’s dog, he would laugh in your face. Who seriously contemplates their relationship with their boyfriend’s dog? Sebastian guesses he does now. Especially in the wake of Lewis’ ex, Nico, coming by after a business trip abroad for his environmental awareness campaign. It was seriously a bit insane, the life that Lewis had.
Sebastian was still a little bit baffled by Nico. And Roscoe. But especially Nico.
He had maybe a moment to contemplate how to approach Nico when Roscoe came barreling down the hall and into Nico’s legs, knocking the other man down by his knees practically to be able to lick over his face. The bastard was even panting, His butt wagging in excitement at seeing Nico, he was clamoring all over the man, ruining his surely ethically sourced designer button up.
That solves it. Sebastian was the other woman in Roscoe’s eyes.
-
“Well, I mean Nico was Roscoe’s other dad since he was puppy…” Was the only explanation Lewis could give Sebastian, and he was honestly blown away by this whole situation. What did he mean? Why did he never know this was a serious matter?
“I’m just surprised! I didn’t know you shared custody until you messaged me Nico was coming over to have his allotted time. And then come to find out, your dog peed on my shoes because he thought I was the other woman. It’s remarkable, really. I didn’t know a dog could feel that way.” He remarked, looking down at their vegan korean food take away, laughing just a little.
“I don’t exactly know if he sees you as the other woman but Roscoe is very smart! And he was down when Nico and I split. He always loved Nico a little bit more most days.” Sebastian nodded and hummed. This was truly baffling, honestly.
“You certainly have a type, I’m surprised Roscoe didn’t just accept that Nico looked a little different.” He attempted to joke, swirling up his noodles. Lewis just shot him a very unamused look and Sebastian held his hands up in surrender.

I had a dream that taylor swift released a new album that employed her most despicable marketing move yet: she promised that new joanna newsom songs were buried as hidden easter eggs within the ends of her other songs, but every time a new jnew song was about to play, it would simply skip to her next track. a disgusting display of capitalist trickery. naturally, i had no choice but to listen.
now, this album of hers, like most of her creative output, played it extremely safe to appeal to the widest possible commercial audience, wherein she deployed inane similes such as “clear like crystal” and “red like a rose.”
however, one song that was clearly controversial, but only in ways taylor herself was too obtuse and tone deaf to realize, was her ballad “sleep in the middle east,” which argued that being with her “middle eastern” lover signified an act of decentralization of global imperialist powers that locationally designate the region as being “the middle east” within a complex political/geographic framework, as when they are together, their love is what becomes central to our cosmological paradigms.
the title comes from her line in the chorus “I get no sleep in the middle east,” to imply that she is either wide awake tossing and turning over her lover, or that they are too busy staying up all night having freasknasty dominatrix and/or tame vanilla sex (I can only assume that with t-swift it’s only one or the other).
aside from the obvious glaring problematics of composing such a song in the first place, some other lines are also suspect in subtler ways. for example, her opening line, “why does bombay feel so different from mumbai” is clearly her gesturing towards the idea that every city in the middle east feels so locationally specific due to the nature of experiencing it with her lover, whereas she feels “no different going to france or congo.”
the keen-eared listener will immediately notice many issues here. first of all, she is listing cities in india, a country that is not part of the middle east in even the most generous estimation. secondly, bombay cannot possibly feel “so different” from mumbai, as they are, in fact, the same city. i also have a hard time believing that taylor did not notice a difference between “france and congo” (a line she rhymes with “let’s go to a place that only we know”), or, frankly, that she has ever set foot in the drc.
it was clear by the nature of this song that taylor did not expect to receive any flak for this harmless tune, and in fact i believe she expected to receive praise for finally (alluding to) dating her first ethnic. however, as you can imagine, her detractors had a field day tearing apart this song, myself included, which is why i am now reporting back from my dream world to deliver my somnial findings to all of you.

So are any of you bumfucks on this godforsaken app gonna talk about how Brazil (Declan McKenna) was written By and For Ronan Lynch or am I gonna have to do it myself let’s do this bitches
Fair warning I’m sorta really bad at analysis according to every English teacher I’ve ever had so this is a lot of me freaking out but I think it turned out ok (this took half a year)
Starting off strong with Cars and Animals (Ronan’s favourite) !! Anyway the vibe I’m getting from this is like. The barns and then the He’s got eyes talks like an angel looks like me part is about the like. Greywaren vs Ronan Lynch dream vs human stuff we see in Greywaren (not super spoilery but it kinda doesn’t make sense unless u read the book lmao)
I could write a whole second post as long as this one just about this line but let me unpack this because ohhh my god. First up the use of religion is so perfect for mister Lynch over here and then. IM THE FACE OF GOD IM MY FATHERS SON IS INSANE FOR HIM IM GOING SO FERAL OVER THIS HE LITERALLY IS GOD AND HES HIS FATHERS SON (“and Ronan was everything that was left: molten eyes and a smile made for war” and also The Scene in TRK where Adam goes into Ronan’s room and thinks Niall is sitting on the bed) THIS IS CANON
He’s Not what u think u see he looks so mean but he just wants his little farm and for his husband to get into heaven when he dies (he’s worried about his agnostic tendencies) jk but this is 100% ab stereotypes and how Ronan doesn’t rly fit into what anyone thinks he is (the whole thing about Adam wanting to be unknowable and realizing Ronan Is Unknowable [poetry chefs kiss])
Can’t eat leather is so self explanatory. The bracelets are RIGHT THERE you can’t fool me Mr mckenna
I’m done. I’m done. I don’t even need to keep explaining this it’s RIGHT THERE AGH
And onto the ecoterrorism
I’m kidding (not really) bc this part always makes me think of literally the Entire Plot of TDT when Ronan is going around destroying capitalism to save dreamers. This IS the servers scene and the underwater pipeline and the Mirrors lady and also the way all of TDT is about self discovery and learning who you are and how to deal with that in a society made to destroy you and how isolating and sad that is (it gets him down 😞) and I can KEEP GOING
And just the way the song is so melancholy and also happy at once hits me so hard cause it feels like what the Barns does when you read the book like it SOUNDS like something Aurora would sing to kid Ronan it’s so homey and sweet but also sad and perfect
And obviously I don’t go through the whole song here but I feel that I’ve made my case sufficiently enough thanks for reading this far I love u mwah
