Okay now I'm gonna need you to tell me stuff about broken blessings - not the stuff that makes it into a wip intro! - just incidental stuff. Tell me about Weed the cuddlebug and especially about Sleepy, my namesake. There's also an Owl? Hello???

This has been in my inbox for a little bit I wanted to put things together nicely-

I won't go into too much plot detail because I suspect this is going to be long anyway but what you need to know about Broken Blessings is that it's /almost/ am anthology of short stories, with story arcs being connected into one narrative while every character does bring their own styles and genre into the story, and parts where they interact are a combination of those styles - I'm having lots of format fun here, but all of this is to preface the wild tone jumps that introducing Weed, Sleepy and Agent Owl are going to be.

Agent Owl and Agent Falcon are a duo, a team, partners, legally married for undercover reasons in romantic love and haven't figured out what to call it yet, but hey, they're very autistic and having fun looking for aliens together.

Their story tone is extremely cartoony, they work for a purposefully vague Secret Agency for whom they are Secret Agents but in the same manner as play-pretend cowboys are related to actual real-life cowboys. They wear sunglasses and neat suits and talk in a dry fotmalistic way and never change their facial expression from neutral and due to a series of hijinks and wild coincidences they have never ever caught a real life alien despite being surrounded by supernatural at all times. Eventually they end up in a polyamorous relationship with a vaguely malevolent god (Dusty), which doesn't keep them from doing their jobs because hey, the agency didn't say anything about deities, it's extraterrestrials they have to be weary of. Agent Owl and Agent Falcon are similar in dress and expression but they have different appearances and personalities - Agent Falcon is slightly shorter, thin and white, and Agent Owl is slightly taller, plump and Black. Agent Falcon has a special interest in lizards and is good at pretending like she knows what she's doing, while Agent Owl has a special interest in languages and romantic comedy movies and is more booksmart. Agent Owl is also the more gentle of the two, kind of a gentle giant type. They have been working together for years and are very good at taking care of each other - Owl knows sign language which helps Falcon because although she can make out spoken language with her hearing aids it's taxing for her, and Agent Falcon can spot signs of Owl being overwhelmed and uncomfortable when no one else can on account of her not emoting visibly. They are very good at the partner thing however I have to stress how very, very bad they are at the special agents thing. I love them so much. They can healthily communicate their way out of any interpersonal difficulty and meanwhile a saucer would successfully land nearby to ask them for directions and fly off without them being none the wiser.

Sleepy is somewhat a Sleeping Beauty situation gone wrong - someone placed a curse on him on account of his father getting into a supernatural being's bad graces when he was young, however the curse went slightly wrong both because it's old and starting to grow thin and a few of the elements of it going wrong, like Sleepy transing his gender. His narration style is somewhat fairytale-esque which I love for him because he's the exact opposite of s typical fairytale princess in so many ways. His curse ended, a solid 50 years after it was placed, not on account of any true love intervention but because the person that placed it just. Died of old age. So now he's out of time, trying to re-adjust to life 50 years into the future, stuck with such side effects as being super sleepy all the time, insomnia, roses sometimes growing around him in his sleep, and chronic pain from the leg he broke badly in his dream that was never actually broken in real life - and that's the most important thing, his dreams. For all 50 years of being in his magic sleep he had a continuous vivid dream in which he was in a magic Kingdom, got to fight kings, save dragons, settle down and have a quiet family life all the way into his old age. And then he woke up, 25 again, and apparently all of that was a dream and now he has to do all of this life things all over again. He's understandably pretty done with all of this but he's distracting himself by taking care of a bookstore and a bunch of rambunctious traumatized teens. He's generally pretty chill and even-tempered but he's so so tired all of the time.

Weed, aka Sage Gallagher (he/they) (Weed is sort of his true secret name which is what some magic families with fair folk blood do, also what Crow calls him) needs cuddles Always. He was sort of forced into head of the family position at age 20 when Crow ran away from home and they had to act tough and play at being a scary ethereal Fae Lord but honestly they just want to not have to talk to many humans and grow mushrooms and maybe be a mycologist. They also feel very alone on account of their parents being missing and Crow having ran away from their not pleasant at all grandparents Without Taking Him so he's so glad he has Eddie at least. Eddie loves him quite unconditionally, they've been together since childhood and now officially Eddie is Lord Gallagher's bodyguard and unofficially he's their boyfriend and supplier of cuddles and the one person keeping the wet cat of a mushroom summoner relativity sane. Eddie has mild fire powers which makes him very, very good at warm cuddles. I haven't pinned down their narration style quite yet but it's a fun mix of noir and high fantasy. Yes all of these characters interacting and their narration styles mixing gives me life I am putting little guys in situations,

New Agent? New Agent! Agent 5 :)

Sent to a crumbling human city ruin besieged by endless rain, this octoling has to deal with his ink being washed away mere moments after hes turfed. The relentless fall of water is also a danger to his own life -- as such, he relies on sheltered roosts to fire at enemies and switches from a distance.

Its a city that moves and rotates with the flow of water and tides. Secrets are said to lie at the very center of this city labyrinth rolled by waves.

More deets below!!

The labyrinthian city is based off of the labyrinth in Piranesi! A roiling sea as its floor, the sky its ceiling. Architecture ranging from classical works to more modern ones. Statues *everywhere.*

The tides change, sometimes chasing Agent 5 up several levels. The rain is relentless in most floors. In the sheltered areas, mechanical enemies stalk, as if guarding the secrets laying in the center.

The occasional salmonid swims in the waters or hops along the haunted, empty halls. Most will fight 5, but there are few who'd rather chat with a certain "Agent 6" that usually scouts ahead of 5.

Theres another person on this trip -- Cap3! They were the one who somehow found this place and wanted to explore it. Due to their disabilities though, they need to bring someone else along. "6" was available, but they wanted to bring another face just in case he gets carried away. They found 5 in a ranked match that they were watching -- one of the best snipers theyve ever seen. And thats exactly who they needed.

Anyways, the three of them have a moving base in the labyrinth. Setting up camp in deeper and deeper areas of the labyrinth. They avoid shorelines when they can, due to rising tides, but if theres no more choice they will settle there. A friendly salmonid tends to strike up conversation with 6 whenever they do.

Otherwise, 6 and Cap3 chat (6 speaks, Cap3 signs) about an interesting statue, a map, or the occasional text that the seas allow to surface. Its different in every base camp.

does acht still DJ on the surface? i like to think acht has usurped a room of fours apartment and moved all of their DJ stuff into there. four maybe plays a traditional instrument like guitar and provides samples which acht proceeds to turn into the most fucked up music ever </3

Yes!!! Four plays bass guitar (this applies to literally every Agent 4 oc I have ever made) and Acht will often sample what they play and incorporate it in their music in the most ungodly way possible. Four absolutely loves it.

Despite being forced to make music in the Deepsea Metro, Acht still loves it no matter what. Continuing to make the music they love is kind of like their final “f-you” to Tartar. They enjoy making music so much more now that they’ve escaped the metro because they can actually feel joy from what they’ve created. Four encourages it as much as possible and will always support their partner’s hobbies.

Before meeting Acht, Four was actually a fan of their music. It’s a dream come true for them to be able to help them make the music they would listen to so often.

I absolutely love the idea of Acht taking over a room in Four’s apartment solely for their DJing equipment!!! I’m going to run with that idea for a little bit or you don’t mind:

Four has to be careful where they step because of the wires everywhere. They’ve tripped over a few more than once.

Trying to relocate all of Acht’s equipment took an entire day because of how far underground the Deepsea Metro is, plus a solid hour of trying to get it into the elevator of Four’s apartment building. Then an additional hour of giving up and trying to drag it up the stairs.

Acht didn’t start out with the entire room for just their equipment, they initially had just one corner. As they bought more to make more advanced music, they gradually spread their equipment through the whole room.

Acht has a habit of staying up late making new music. They’ve unintentionally made 20 minute long songs before because they get so into it. Four will often stay up with them binging a TV show or playing video games. If they weren’t awake, Acht would end up waking them just to ask them to play a riff on the bass guitar. They don’t mind at all and are more of a night owl anyway.

Even though Four listens to Acht making their music, they still get excited when a new song, EP, or album releases. Acht made a remix of #14 crush just for them, but kept it a secret, only mixing it when they weren’t home, so that it would be a surprise. They even managed to sample some of Four’s bass playing for the remix without them figuring it out. It came out on Valentine’s Day. It pays to have an oblivious partner. (I’m thinking of this video in particular.)

I'm going to answer this for Broken Blessings, a WIP set in alt history urban fantasy 2000s (an introduction is coming soon I promise-). so the place they're at is most likely a hotel

Hey is some level of anxious because of the storm. He's not very good around loud noises and bright lights but he will dry his darndest to hide that, mostly by focusing on making sure everyone else is comfortable and settling in well.

Crow is tired from traveling and when she's tired she needs alone time so she will acquire a separate room, even if that involves throwing someone out. She won't be mean to the workers though, they don't get paid enough to have an entire Crow unleashed upon them.

This is Dusty's first time at a hotel and by the God that is them they'll enjoy all the aspects of it. She'll chat up everyone from workers to lodgers, somehow talk his way into having a free meal and an extra blanket. They don't really understand personal space so he'll probably try sharing a bed with Hey to keep their human safe, curling up like a cat and hissing at anyone who dares approach her favorite human.

Agent Falcon and Agent Owl, who are supposed to be Discreet and Secretive, will try to blend in as a couple on a honeymoon but will forget who's supposed to be crossdressing again and end up posing as Mr. and Mr. Fowl (this has happened before). They will attempt to figure out which room is closest to the one Dusty is staying in, hijinks ensue and they end up taking the VIP room Crow has set her mind to kicking the rich sweethearts out of.

Sleepy (the one named after you! His name is Terry but he goes by Sleepy a lot) would be glad to lie down and be unconscious for any amount of hours. He has insomnia and chronic pain and any amount of rest will not go unappreciated by him. However if he and Hey and Dusty are in the same room Dusty will certainly take it upon herself to prove how good they are at protecting their human and try to threaten Sleepy with horrors beyond his imagination. Sleepy is likely to fall asleep to the descriptions of what a deity scorned can unleash upon his mind and body but I don't think he minds. Or pays attention, really. Dusty thinks they're rivals until death but Sleepy hasn't really caught onto that yet.

Weed and Eddie, if they are traveling with the rest, are likely to ask for a separate room. Weed is more social than Crow but he's most comfortable in crowds of two people or less. Also they would feel more comfortable cuddling if they're alone, and Weed needs cuddles at all times always.

Agents agents agents + a couple of ocs! I remembered that my cephalopods come in many patterns so I decided to explore that!

Notes abt patterns below-

Cap3: has many scars, most have healed. Though some of the sanitation effects remain around their wrists and hands, as well as their tentacles... their left eye is almost blind.

Agent4: Naturally glittery skin and tentacles, kind of accents the metallic patterns acquired from getting partially washed out by Order. Those arent metal fingers, those are patterns!

Additional design note -- she used to be way more sparkly, but the loss of her faith in herself made her colors fade. Easier for Order to wash her out then, no?

Neo3: fucking beaste. Kept trying to eat falling into the fuzzy ooze during her mission and now has a part of it in her dna. Sometimes gets more mammalian features (fur, hair, claws...on one occasion she sprouted a tail!)

Agent8: Same as the first design I made, now with added jelleton inspired patterns due to Side Order! Maybe bc she destroyed a bunch of em wkdndk

The rings have been with her awhile, she had decided to show em off once she got out of the Deep Sea Metro.

Agent5: Patterns reflect his time in the labyrinth -- rain, the sea, the rings reminiscent of the foam kicked up by changing tides.

Agent6: ...this is just Mags! His hair shimmers like crow feathers dipped in gold. His ink is actually yellow, but he really doesnt like his hair being that shade -- so he changes it manually to reflect his preferences. His magic circles are the one set of tattoos he allows to show through in this inkling disguise.

His stripe pattern is referencing his patterns in his original form! He looks like hes always wreathed in golden flame.

(His size meanwhile befits his fighting style -- dual wielding splatana stampers)

The last two are Croissant and Melon, the first owned by @pastille-pain!

Melon: her ink is naturally pale. The powdery patterns are reminiscent of snowfall and moonlight simply bc I like that aijdje. Theyre pearlescent/opalescent, shimmering as she moves. When she gets emotional, she starts to glow with colored spots!

Where I've Been

Okay, so, 'sup babygrills. This is going to be a bit of a lengthy post, but I feel like I should update followers on here as to where I've been because I haven't been active for, like, months.

If you don't care to read all of the stuff under the cut, that's fine. Here's my TL;DR: I've been having issues with mental illness, trauma, motivation, gender dysphoria (?), and have been busy with college and YouTube/social media stuff. However, luckily my HK special interest has returned and I plan on posting more often hopefully. (Mild cw for mental health mentions ig.)

Okay, so, to begin, I've been gone a lot due to responsibilities outside of making Nyctophobia content. So, up until recently, I've been working on graduating from college. I've been finishing up my final class this Summer, but last quarter in the Spring was really difficult for me time-wise and mental health-wise. I've had a lot of issues with depression and anxiety throughout my life, and being at college was torturous and sapped all of my energy. It did not help that, last quarter, I had to be there at the college for six hours of my day five days a week. It was not easy to make art for myself and my channel, much less for this blog.

Outside of college, and I've mentioned this before in passing, but I also make YouTube videos and, at the moment, YT is my income (alongside comms as well). I've been pretty focused on keeping my my schedule at least a little bit consistent, and that alone has been draining and tiring. It also affects the kind of art that I can create, as I have to draw certain things for certain videos. I've been really weary when it comes to making content as of late, and I really need to take a small break so that I can work on stuff I actually want to work on rather than being stuck drawing certain things for the sake of videos I'm not inspired to make.

Pivoting more into specifics about my mental health, I have been needing to see a therapist for a long while, but I haven't had the motivation or the funds to pursue that option up until recently. Hopefully, I will be attending therapy soon. Last year in, uhm, September I had a particularly bad mental health episode and I've come to realise that some events that happened during that time have left me with trauma that I'm still currently working past and healing from. I've had issues with self-harm, depression, anxiety, suicidal thoughts, and self-perception for a long time, but in the Spring they were stifling and impossible to ignore. Lately, they have been better, though. So, that's nice. There hasn't been just the usual stuff lately (oh no, that's be too easy), but I've gotten jumpscared with gender issues (hooray, my favourite /s) during this time, and am struggling with my self-perception regarding my gender up to current day. (Hi, I currently go by Rot or Sexy Fictional Bug Enthusiast and my pronouns are they/them, but they may very well be they/he soon). Also, I had a bad identity crisis a couple of months ago and had to do this whole rebrand thing that was a lot of work and it kinda sucked away a lot of energy and time.

On top of all of that, ya boy's special interest metre has been focused primarily on OC stuff and other things outside of HK. It's pretty well-known that I have autism and Hollow Knight is one of my special interests. I'm unsure how it works for most people, but my fixations tend to come in waves and fluctuate (though super special meaningful ones stick for a long time). So, like, I had this whole issue with my mind always being fixated more on things outside of HK. It's been my OCs for a few months, but alongside that, I also suddenly became enraptured by The Owl House and my Digimon special interest sleeper agent returned for a hot second there. As of recently, I've been interested in HK again, but have been afraid to start/work on projects related to my AU because of me having to work on OC content for my channel and also for my friends who are invested.

As of right now, I have some more time on my hands to make the content I want to make, and my HK fixation is back (thank fuck). I've generally been doing a bit better in the mental health arena, but I will also be taking some time off of YT and posting videos regularly in favour of focusing on making stuff I want to make. So, like, expect me to be more active here for some time. I might be finishing a fic in the next month (hopefully) as well, and I have some general comic and art ideas. I just want to draw Auric again, god dammit. My beloved. <3

Anyways, thanks for reading if you did. Just figured I'd make a post about this for people who thought I died or something (and for the people who were once interested in my projects on here and are starving for content, lmao).
