14. At what point in writing do you come up with a title?
it really depends!! sometimes it is literally the thing i will start with, other times it comes to me while i'm writing if that makes sense? if i go through the entire drafting process without finding a title i usually have a lot of troubles finding one for that project lmao

Bucky took you right to bed when he came home safely from his recent mission. Some days he needed to forget the weight of the unfair burdens he carried. As many times as he was unwillingly wiped, he would forever remember the horrors. The nightmares served as a reminder. He didn’t want to let them consume him.
He would drown in sorrow if he did.
“One more, baby,” he ordered gruffly, thrusting deep and helping you ride out your orgasm. “Give me one more.”
Some days forgetting meant taking you until he had his fill. He still had your hand above your head, your fingers laced together as he stretched his body over yours. He pulled another orgasm from you before he filled you to the brim. Pinned beneath him, you remembered that you belonged to him. And he’d never forget that he had someone worth fighting for.
Someone worth protecting.
“Talk to me,” you urged, focusing on him through the fog of pleasure.
“I get scared some days,” he whispered, still buried inside you.
“You? Scared?” You asked, touching his cheek. Like always, he leaned into your hand. Where one of you went, the other followed. “I find that hard to believe.”
“It's true. Because some days I wake up and I worry when you're not there beside me,” he said, his voice as gentle as his kisses. “I can't breathe properly until I see your face or hear your voice.”
The wonderful ache between your thighs was a contrast to the one in your heart at his stormy gaze. Ghosts haunted the man you loved, but you would find ways to chase them away. “I don’t want you to worry. I'm here and I'm not going anywhere.”
“My job is dangerous and I’m not always here,” he reminded you. There was always the chance that he’d never come home to you. But wasn’t life in general unpredictable? “I have enemies.”
“I know. And I know how to protect myself. You taught me, remember?” You pointed out. He made sure you knew how to fight. “And I'm still not going anywhere, Bucky.”
You gasped when he shifted his hips, his weight settling over you. “I can't lose you, baby,” he said, his eyes so intense that you nearly shrank under his gaze. But you weren’t afraid of how much he loved you because you loved him just as strongly. “I've already lost too much.”
Bucky Barnes lost almost everything. Time. Family. Autonomy. It wasn’t fair. He didn’t deserve it.
He deserved love and you’d be there to give it to him.
“You won’t lose me,” you whispered.
He sighed, your words like a balm to an invisible wound. “Still love me?”
“Always,” you promised, pulling him down for a tender kiss.
Bucky was home and you would wake up beside him in the morning, but life was unpredictable. Someone would try to take you away soon. Someone with a grudge against the man who captured your heart.
And that someone would soon discover that messing with Bucky’s girl was a death wish.

Who do we think is dumb enough to go after Bucky's girl? Love and thanks for reading! ❤️

⚓ Pick a Silm ship to go down with. What is compelling about their dynamic?
I am extremely normal about Elwing and Eärendil.
Losing your homes to war as a child. Finding a new home in a place you do not know, among unfamiliar people suffering the same loss as you, more universal than your different kindreds. Surviving in the last bit of unpoisoned land on the continent. Thriving in the last bit of unpoisoned land on the continent.
(As an aside, was there ever any other place, in all of the history of Middle-earth, like the Havens of Sirion? Where elves and mortals of all kindreds came together to build a home and live, in defiance of the losses they suffered?
I like to think that there was, and it was called Imladris.)
Being the only two of your kind. Being the heirs to four of the greatest bloodlines of the Age (arguably five, since Eärendil is the only known surviving descendent of Haldad). Perhaps you were allowed to just be children for a while, in spite of the requirements of your roles. Perhaps not. Being almost expected to be with each other. Falling in love regardless. Bringing life into a dying world in defiance.
Choosing, to give up the chance to be a father to your sons as they grow up for the slim chance of buying a world where they might grow up at all. Choosing, to wait at the shore in sorrow, holding the beacon that keeps your love safe, not knowing when or even if he will return. Choosing, to turn back for your love. Choosing, to buy time for your love to return. Defying your nightmares to the bitter end.
Being reunited in utter despair. Choosing, together now, to give up your children for the slim hope of buying a world where they will grow up at all. If they're even still alive. Freely giving your love the jewel your people willingly died for, your last inheritance. Wandering for four years until at last, at last! you reach your goal. Trying to spare your love from the wrath of the Gods. Being unwilling to be left behind once again; "but all thy perils I will take on myself also." Being separated again regardless, because only one can walk this path. Being reunited once again, having each gained an army and a navy. Being given a Doom and a Choice together. Choosing, to stay with your wife no matter what. Choosing, to live and see the future your sacrifices have bought.
To be given the greatest ship that ever shall be, and sail where none else have sailed. To be given a lighthouse at the shore, and to know, every morning, that your love will return, and you will fly to him on your own wings.
Extremely normal about them.

5 and 7 for Ockham ⚓🪞💙
5. Speech! Speech! Speech! Speech! Will they give one, and what about?
This is the exact nonsense the Navy pulled on Ockham back on the surface. Ockham will not give a speech in English. Ockham probably wouldn't do it in Flemish either, because what's heshethey supposed to say? If you tried to put himherthem on the spot at, say, a wedding, you'd probably end up with a sentence and a half and vague disappointment. It's possible to get Ockham to talk about things that heshethey're interested in (food and minor craft/engineering projects seem to be lucrative topics), but in a conversation, as opposed to a speech.
7. Describe them in three words. Now let them describe themself in three words.
Sedate, iceberg, opinionated.
Frustrated, untethered, managing.

🦎 LIZARD: Who is your most untrustworthy OC? Why?
Oh, definitely the Pirate Lord. I feel like it's self explanatory.
📚 BOOKCASE: Share a paragraph from your WIP.
Since I shared more than a paragraph for the share a line ask, let's do a nice size blurb here— perhaps the opening paragraphs of the book?
Even without the footman's introductory proclamation, every eye in the room would doubtless have been on Maristella as she descended the wide staircase. There was no one on Ervina Island who didn't know about the Admiral's daughter— and surely among the foreign guests in attendance, most of whom were men of rank in the navy, she was all the more well known. There wasn't a man in the navy who hadn't considered how the admiral's daughter might sway her father's opinion of you, how if she but spoke a word to the Admiral in your favor, a promotion followed close behind— and surely most of the men in attendance tonight knew that, if a man here were to win her heart, he'd not have want for anything in terms of station and position. But as Maristella walked down the stairs, she scarcely noticed any of them. There was but one soldier whose return to Ervina she'd eagerly anticipated: her father, Admiral Charles Arrington, who'd been at sea for the last six months and finally had returned home. Despite her efforts to remain a picture of propriety, Maristella smiled when she saw her father and mother, waiting for her at the base of the staircase. The Admiral looked just as Maristella had remembered him— a smile tucked away behind his light brown beard, steel blue eyes that always seemed to know all the words you'd never said— though his hair was showing more graying streaks than previously, and his uniform bore a new medal. Mrs. Arrington, standing beside him, wore a teal dress that brought out the accent colors in her husband's uniform, her hair fair and perfectly arranged.

[Check Out Shops]
Barreleye leaned against a wall outside the weapon shop. He enjoyed the soft breeze and the busy ambiance of the town. He took one last look at the weapon store before turning to leave. He looked around the market stalls and stopped in front of a wooden message board in the center of the cobblestone road.
More wanted posters were plastered all over its face, the light brown ink faded from being in the sunlight. The posters had a variety of different criminals, some of the posters ripped off from their tacks. Barreleye looked around, then noticed his own poster in the corner of his eye. He laughed to himself, gently tearing it off the metal pin and looking at it in his hands.
“500,000 cash, not bad,” Barreleye said to himself with a smile. He rolled it up, stuffing it into the pocket of his navy blue jacket. He looked around some more, hurrying over to the market stalls with curiosity in his eyes.
He wandered over to the merchant from earlier. It was a tall wooden stand with a cloth canopy over it. Scattered on the table were an assortment of black logs and shiny pendants.
The merchant was a bright cyan octoling that wore a dark red shirt and a black top hat. They had a fish bone hanging from one of their ears and a bright yellow bandana around their neck. There was a large, messily painted sign next to them propped up on the table.
SHADOW WOOD -> 5000 CASH
“So… Shadow wood, huh?” Barreleye asked as he picked up one of the black logs.
The merchant nodded eagerly. “It’s quite the rare find! You probably won’t find it being sold anywhere else. Not even the auctions at Hagglefish would have ‘em.”
“Oh— Wow,” Barreleye replied, “How’d you even get it in the first place?”
“It was rather tedious, you know,” the merchant replied, resting a hand on the table, “The currents around the island are so unpredictable— that’s how a lot of sailors crash there in the first place. But! There’s a small opening on the island that not even the shadows know about. They say it’s the last beam of sunlight on that gloomy chunk of land.”
“Woah, really?” Barreleye replied, “So— You’ve never actually seen a shadow?”
“I-I mean— I have,” the merchant replied, raising their hand in opposition, “They’re nasty little things— they sort of look like inklings and octolings like you and me. Except they’re— shadow. Oh! They’ve got razor sharp teeth that could probably snap a bone with one bite. I’ve heard that’s how they tear sailors’ flesh apart! But luckily, I barely managed to escape with my life and a few pieces of wood.”
“Oh wow…”
The merchant nodded, raising up one of their arms. “I almost lost my arm to one of them. Oh! That reminds me—” They continued talking to Barreleye about the shadowy island the wood had come from while Barreleye listened.
While he was listening, he also looked around a bit more. He noticed in the corner of his eye there was a trading post further down the street.
“—You should consider buying a piece,” the merchant continued with a grin on their face, “If it’s your thing, you can carve it into whatever you want! It’s soft enough for a whittling knife to shave. It’s also a great addition to your collection if—”
“Oh...maybe another time,” Barreleye replied with a nervous laugh. “I don’t exactly have any money on me at the moment and—”
“That’s okay!” The merchant insisted, “You can start with a down payment of one-thousand cash and hand the rest to me later!! However, I do have to warn you I charge a 4% simple interest fee. It’s sort of like putting it on credi—”
“Ah— Well— I’m— uh— just here for a business trip,” Barreleye lied, “I’m only traveling here for a few days… I don’t think I could pay you back if I did that. I wouldn’t want to steal from you. Thank you though! I’m sure there’s someone else who would like one.”
As Barreleye turned to leave, the merchant spoke up again. “Wait! How about this—” But, before they could finish their sentence, Barreleye was already gone. The merchant sighed in defeat as they slumped their shoulders with disappointment.
Barreleye walked to the trading post. He opened the door, a rustic bell ringing as he walked inside.
It was a quiet, old shop with tattered wooden floors and windows frosted with scratches. Barreleye’s boots tapped the floor as he walked through the trading post. The interior was a bit cramped, with various trinkets hanging on the walls and sitting on shelves collecting dust. Barreleye made his way to the front desk— a rusty glass display case with a bulletin board behind it. Two wanted posters were nailed into the bulletin board behind where the shopkeeper normally stood. Two pirates with ridiculously high bounties.
Barreleye looked around but the shopkeeper was nowhere to be found. He shrugged it off, continuing to walk around the trading post. Barreleye found a bundle of sisal rope. He picked it up and carried it with him while he wandered the quiet shop.
On a shelf, there was a cloudy glass bottle with a rolled up piece of paper in it. Barreleye tilted his head with curiosity, taking it off the shelf and brushing off a layer of dust. He looked at it with confusion. He tugged on the cork in the top of the bottle, but it didn’t seem to budge.
“I wonder what’s in there,” Barreleye asked in a quiet voice.
“Probably a treasure map or something.”
Barreleye flinched and nearly dropped the bottle in his hand, looking up to see another silvery-blue inkling standing right in front of him. The inkling had a topknot-hairstyle and wore a simple white shirt with black pants.
“Oops, sorry, I didn’t mean to scare you there,” he said with a light chuckle, “I was just about to take a look at the bottle as well.”
“Oh— Here,” Barreleye said, handing it to the latter.
“You could probably just break it open and take out the paper inside,” he commented, looking at the bottle. “This thing looks like it might be an antique— I wonder how the shop owner even got it in the first place. Maybe they’ll know what’s inside…”
As the other inkling talked, Barreleye couldn’t help but notice there was not a single ounce of emotion in their eyes. No matter how happy they sounded, their eyes still appeared to be clouded and dull.
“I think you should ask the shopkeeper whenever they get back,” the inkling said, handing the bottle back to Barreleye, “My captain’s talked about looking for one before— It’s quite funny, actually. He said something about it being from an old friend…?” The inkling shrugged it off. “Could’ve been a different one though.”
“O-Oh— Is that so?” Barreleye responded, “Well— um— I hope your captain finds whatever it is he’s looking for.” He grabbed the ropes he was holding onto from earlier.
“Thanks!” The inkling replied, “Say, are you a sailor too? You sort of look like one.”
“Oh— me?” Barreleye replied, “I guess I am. I just— travel the seas with a few friends of mine. That’s pretty much it— nothing really more than that. I’m just stopping here to pick up a few supplies.”
Barreleye looked around and set the bottle back onto the shelf. “There’s so much stuff here… It’ll take a whole day just to look through it all…”
As he wandered around the shop some more, Barreleye carefully tucked the bundle of rope in his coat pocket. Barreleye then wandered back over to the glass display case, finding an assortment of tools under the freshly polished glass. There were compasses, maps, quills, telescopes, and other things a sailor might need at sea.
“I wonder if we need any more nails back at the ship for repairs,” Barreleye asked out loud. He rested a hand on the glass counter and looked around— noticing there was still no sign of the shopkeeper.
Barreleye then noticed a grappling hook that rested on the wall behind the front counter. It was in surprisingly good condition, with only a small amount of rust on the claw’s tip. He also found a bronze compass in the display case. The compass had an anchor engraved on its case— embellished with silver trimmings. It was sealed away underneath the glass casing.
“I don’t have a lot to trade on me,” Barreleye commented, “I don’t think I can take everything with me… I’m really tempted to get a grappling hook, but I don’t really have a use for that at the moment.”
“You might later on,” the inkling shrugged, “But if anything, you’ll probably get more use out of the compass or nails.”
“Fair enough,” Barreleye replied, “But I’m not sure which one I’ll need the most at the moment…” He glanced over his shoulder at the bottle with a piece of paper rolled up inside it. “I’m especially curious about what’s in the bottle— But it’s probably just someone’s letter or something…
“I'll take the nails with me, just in case we need it back on the ship," Barreleye said, “As for the other things...”

The fireplace glowed with radiant flames as Steve took a seat on the floor beside you. He had added a couple of logs before he made the hot chocolate, the sweet scent of the warm beverage drifting to his nostrils before he took a sip. Soft music filled the air and he couldn’t help but smile when he caught you humming along. Like him, you didn’t want anything over-the-top for the holidays.
Just the pleasure of being with each other was more than enough.
“Don’t worry. I won’t damage your ears by singing,” you teased as you stretched a blanket over the two of you to share.
He chuckled as he wrapped a pair of strong arms around you. “It would take a lot more than your singing to damage my ears,” he teased back, brushing his beard along your cheek to make you giggle, the sound soft and pleasant. “So sing as much as you’d like.”
“I think I’ll just stick to writing,” you smiled, leaning into him with a gentle sigh. “Steve?”
“Yes, sweetheart?”
You didn’t say anything right away, but you did place a hand over his. “This is enough for you, right? This life?”
“It’s more than enough,” he answered without hesitation, hoping he hadn’t done or said something to make you think otherwise. He loved the home and life the two of you made together. If he did something to make you think otherwise, he’d have to remedy that immediately.
“Are you sure? There isn’t a small part of you that wishes you were fighting tonight?” You asked, tilting your head so you could stare into his eyes.
You once told Steve that you liked looking into people’s eyes because they always told the truth when some often weaved lies with their words. You chose to listen to the unspoken gazes. The eyes also conveyed so much emotion, the very windows to the soul because you could see right through them.
And he had nothing to hide from you.
He understood why you asked though. Deep down he was still the man of action who couldn’t turn a blind eye when things pointed south. But you were the one of the reasons he still occasionally fought. He had a home to defend and someone to come back to. Something to fight for.
You were his home.
“No. Not tonight,” he replied with an unwavering tone and stare so you’d know how serious he was. “This is exactly where I’m meant to be. Right by our fireplace with hot chocolate nearby and you in my arms.”
With soft eyes full of love, you brought your lips to his. It ignited a flame inside him almost as warm and bright as the crackling fire feet away. The pieces of his heart that he struggled to put together after the ice connected the moment the two of you met. You were his glue and strength.
And like the winter holiday encouraged, he felt a sense of love and peace by being in the moment.

⚓ Saffic September: Pirate AU ⚓
Part 4 of my Saffic September Rec List Series! Check out @hpsaffics for more info about their Daily Prompt Bingo Challenge! Today we have some rugged pirates, beautiful mermaids, alluring sirens, and kidnapped princesses. Also for the @sapphic-september prompt sirens. 1 podfic + 2 art + 5 fic + 1 combo recs. Enjoy!
PODFIC
⚓ Celestial Navigation [ChoLinny, G, 8 mins] by @solar-settings, read by @lumosatnight ⚓ Wonderful imagery and the beginnings of a glorious poly relationship!
This is how the pirate meets the mermaid meets the explorer, and this is how they fall in love.
ART
⚓ Lay Your Armour Down (The Seduction of a Pirate) [Ginsy, G, Digital] by @getawayfox ⚓ The colors in this are absolutely GORGEOUS! Pansy in that red dress and captain Ginny is *chef's kiss*. I would gladly sneak aboard this pirate ship.
Pansy will be the first to tell you that being an heiress is infinitely boring. She lives for thrill and intrigue, and right now her days lack both. So, when there’s whispers in town of a nearby pirate ship threatening their shores, Pansy’s interest piques... she doesn't expect the captain to take her breath away.
⚓ Fate in the Mist [Linny, T, Digital] by @kiertorata ⚓ Luna as a mermaid is perfection. Ginny's pirate hat is everything I didn't know I needed, and I need it right TF now.
Pirate captain Ginny and her crewless ship are on a mission to find the biggest treasure of her pirate career. But something about the mist tells her that she's going to find so much more than treasure.
FIC
⚓ Heaven is a Pirate Ship [Bellamione, E, 33.8k] by @vitaminpops ⚓ A delightful read filled with sexy pirate Bellatrix, scheming friends, and overall so much fun you'll never want to put it down!
Hermione's being shipped off into an unhappy marriage when the most incompetent pirate crew captures her. Featuring: one trigger-happy but sexy pirate, a dysfunctional father-son relationship, a general absence of morals, and the many uses of knives.
⚓ Hand In Unlovable Hand [Cissamione, T, 7.6k] by @turtle-that-dabs-ironically ⚓ Narcissa is captured, and I could totally get behind sexy captain Hermione.
Narcissa often wondered what it meant to be free. Maybe she'd find freedom on the ship of the Dread Pirate Granger.
⚓ The Siren's Thrall [Fleurmione, T, 3.7k] by waltzlikeits1698 ⚓ Fleur as a siren is a character coming for my heart. I would read a whole novel of this.
Captain Granger has been sailing the seas for many years, but even the widest of oceans can pull two people together.
⚓ I see you from a different point of view [Flonks, T, 2.0k] by @neondomino ⚓ Royalty AU and Pirate AU combined! What more could you want? Such a fun, cute story!
Princess Fleur has the perfect life back in her kingdom. She has everything she desires, but her future is already planned out for her. When she's taken captive by pirates, she starts to see what freedom truly is.
⚓ You Could Be Free [Helena, T, 1.2k] by @madetofly ⚓ Such a fun rare pair! A rebellious Helga and distraught Rowena. Yes, please.
Rowena is forced to confront some uncomfortable feelings when the navy captures Helga.
FIC + ART
⚓ the burning boats are gone and lost [fem!BareGraves, E, 13.7k, Digital] by @iamonlydancing ⚓ More mermaids than pirates in this one, but still an intriguing read with genderswapped Credence Barebones/Percival Graves. Also beautiful art!
Graves lives by the ocean, recovering after Grindelwald turned her life upside down. One day she finds a woman with a mysterious past, searching desperately for something that belongs to her.
