I'm losing my mind.

This album has put me in a high that hasn't come down since release. Overall, I rate the album a 9/10. I won't really get into the lyrics (Yoongi never minces words), but will tell you why exactly I think Yoongi is insane.

We should all thank Yoongi. If I had his address I'd send him flowers and my nudes (me sitting pretty in a bucket of tangerines), for the blessing, the honour, the gift of J-hope Jay spitting the coldest bars of his entire career on HUH?!

There's no Korean rapper in the history of rap who has spit sicker bars, delivered so cold it feels like he just ripped eyeballs clean out their sockets.

See, up until now, BTS had never done drill. And a part of me was always grateful because even on harmless boom bap beats, they been cutting niggas left and right. But Yoongi went there. On D-DAY, he went there. And Lord is it a revelation. Nobody should be surprised that D-DAY is now the highest selling rap album, in history. Yoongi is the first rapper to sell a million albums in a day in history. Not k-rap, not in Asia, but globally in the history of the genre - that was done by Min Yoongi with Jung Hoseok whipping up guts served cold on a platter.

If you're vegetarian or vegan I'm so sorry but this album is not for you. Because this album, HUH?! in particular, is an exhibit of cadavers split open and Hobi's delivery is of a man who didn't even bother washing his hands after doing what needed to be done. A man who doesn't feel a speck of remorse for the corpses left in his wake. Hobi's flow on HUH?! is psychotic. And think about what it means to have Hobi on a song like this to begin with. Yoongi said he hadn't done the genre before, and he trusted Hobi - who initially learned from Namgi but very quickly developed his own flavour and skills enough to earn the respect of his idol - Yoongi trusted his brother on that track and that alone nearly brings me to tears.

Then Yoongi follows it with Amygdala and I start actually crying.

Amygdala is the standout song on this album

The transition from drill rap to soothing acoustic trap is so beautiful, it alters your mind. It's so seamless. Everything about Amygdala cements Yoongi's genius as a force to be reckoned with among the greats.

When Yoongi showed Jimin this song in SOOP around the time he made it, he said he went through wild mood swings making it. And you hear it in his voice. When he screams so wildly he uses autotune to distort it, almost temper it, for our sakes and to drive home the point. The point being his pain, how overwhelming it was, how he decided to intentionally pull those memories out to process them. And he lets us hear the result. He lets us see the compassion he shows himself in that song.

Snooze

Yoongi's writing is the reason I fell in love with him. Just by the way. An Anon asked me this question almost 11 months ago now and I never responded, but Anon if you're reading this now, this is the answer to your ask. Yoongi's writing is what I think cemented him as my bias.

Have you heard/read the lyrics for Snooze yet? I cried when I first heard them. To think Yoongi made this for his brothers, for his juniors, for his fans, for anyone whoever hears it, for himself... that brought me to tears.

With the context of the tragedy of the last week, I can't help but weep. I really hope these artists get the support they need, I hope the wider k-pop fandom quickly recognizes what is actually at stake here, and I hope you remember to always take care of yourself.

Woosung's voice on this track is perfection.

When it comes to vocalists, Yoongi has a type. It's my type as well, vocalists with a voice made for haunting rock anthems. The best examples being Jimin, Taka from ONE OK ROCK, Tyler from Twenty One Pilots, Adora, and now we can add Woosung from The Rose to the list.

The thing that gets me with BTS, is they could drop the pantie dropper album of the century and they'd still have substance to them. You don't get Ryuichi Sakamoto on your album, in his final years no less, if you haven't got a decent bit of substance to you.

Snooze is yet another song on the album that reminds us of the evolution of Agust D. It reminds us of why we're at this point, where we are in the timeline of his growth. It reminds us of why we should join him on the other side.

He doesn't let us languish too long in the feeling though, before moving to SDL - that groovy, sexy number that surprises me with how much I like it every time it comes up in my playlist.

[ I'm starting to ramble so I'll just say Adora on SDL makes me think they should get together.

The track is so good and Adora undeniably is the magic ingredient. And if we're being honest, Adora is his best female feature/adliber. We all know it. I'm just selfish and shameless enough to voice the desire we all have that they should always make music together. ]

Haegeum is where he repeats the pattern but we never learn if he's broken the cycle

I'll try to be ultra brief here.

Agust D is born of the anger, hatred, and pain Yoongi feels when looking at the world and at himself. He expresses his struggle with self-loathing, insecurity and greed in Agust D. Haegeum, meaning both to lift a ban, to say what had been suppressed, and a traditional Korean instrument he loves - Haegeum is the resolution before he reaches the acceptance he shows in People Pt 2. We hear Yoongi brutally criticize himself and his society while dissecting the system to get down to the root of what really ails us. K-pop stans have predictably made a ruckus about his lyrics referring to capital. And their criticisms yet again show why few people take k-pop and its fans seriously. Because exactly none, zero, zilch, not a single one of their criticisms are rational once the whole verse is viewed in full.

Haegeum is very much a read of himself as it is of anyone else. He confronts the shadow of him that represents those vices, and kills him. But just as it was in Daechwita, we don't know if that shadow will remain dead. Although in Haegeum it's clear Yoongi has grown and whatever shadow that remains is closer to Suga in likeness than Agust D, we don't know if the cycle is permanently broken. And that is how it is for all of us. We have to continue to evolve, to confront more complex versions of our shadows, each time better reconciling who we are to who we want to be, perfecting our characters.

Haegeum is a visual feast, somehow more vivid than Daechwita which is really saying something. It reminds me of Hong Kong neo noir films. It's cool Yoongi wrote the storyboard for the MV himself.

And as I've said before, Yoongi is messy killer. When I said this about him last year I got some of his akgaes in my inbox saying I should stop smearing the man. Lol. If you had any doubt before, after Haegeum it should be crystal clear.

He could murder you with chopsticks and look good doing it. Honestly, only Yoongi can tear down capitalism as well as Karl Marx does, looking 1,000x better.

In D-Day, SUGA gracefully ends the trilogy of Agust D. Yoongi has told this story of his wrestle with his greed, his anger and hatred, over the last 7 years, and his honesty and graciousness in how he concludes it in D-Day deserves a standing ovation.

His sense of humour is one of my favourite things about him.

Yoongi has created a masterpiece. He worked so hard and it shows. His vocals on the album alone have elevated D-DAY to one of the best releases this decade. You can hear how much he has grown as an artist to the point I dare say he no longer has any obvious weaknesses. The impeccable production on D-DAY is a given. And to think he finished most of the album in 2020, but chose to wait for the rest of the guys to find their feet, for them all to decide on the timing for Chapter 2, to think he waited that long... sometimes, I wonder if people have a true understanding of the kind of group BTS is. Of the personal sacrifices each of the members in BTS have had to make.

When I see asks about this or that mistreatment complaint for this or that member, sometimes it pisses me off. Cause yeah, it sucks that Jungkook has to (possibly) serve now despite having 5 years more and being at his prime; I too hate that Jimin's sales were explicitly targeted, deleted without precedent, explanation, or accountability; I cannot for the life of me explain what the fuck happened with Jack in the Box's album roll-out, packaging, shipping, etc. But like, every member is making these decisions with their eyes wide open and taking these hits in stride with a team/company they say they trust. If Jimin trusts Bang PD with his career, on what basis could I begin to disagree with him?

Anyway I digress. D-Day is a gift. Pray you survive the live versions lol. And oh, about Yoongi (and the rest of BTS) being insane as I said initially, just listen to HUH?! again.

I want to say something. I'm a pjms so I don't ship jikook and taekook. Anyway, I noticed that this fandom hate jikook, in fact everytime there are jokes about them married or boyfriends, army get mad. But if you talk about yoonmin or taekook or namkook or vmin, they don't have problems with these ships. So, why all this hate?? Maybe it's jikook fault, if you think about it. Jikook are not the other duo, sometimes they act awkward (for example, the bb where jungkook met jimin, it was really weird to watch it, even if they were holding hands, jungkook was really cold with jimin), sometimes they act close, sometimes they act like strangers. Now they're in hiatus era, it means they're private. So people don't understand their relationship. They're close or not? If they were that close why they don't see each other? So maybe they were faking it etc.? Why Jungkook made some things for Jimin only but sometimes he seems he is refusing him?? Why Jimin always mentioned Jungkook and not anymore?

The problem is that jikook are weird so people don't like what they don't understand.

Okay. Here is where an anon and I talk about why JK behaves the way he does with Jimin Vs other members. And here i talk about JK Vs the camera.

When it seems awkward its because it is. That BB had like really bad editing actually. How many times did they say goodbye? JK was on the left side already saying he's leaving while they hold hands..there's a cut and he's on their other side still saying goodbye. How long did they do that for exactly??

Anyway, anon this is the first time Jikook were on camera together just them since chapter 2 started. For me it seemed like they're so used to just being them they forgot how to act on camera. The amount of times JK kept glancing at the damn thing. And we know he is only self conscious like that when its around Jimin.

Anon idk how else to explain tension to you. If u can't see it I can't help u. Like seriously I don't think its possible. Some things you have to pick up on yourself.

This fandom doesn't hate Jikook because they don't understand them. They hate them because Jikook scares them. It is easy to say Namgi real or Taekook real or Jihope real. Its easy to ask Jihope to kiss already and for all Armys to come together and laugh about it. It's easy to laugh about Namkook and their history. Because they know these people are not actually together. They give off normal bro vibes. But its hard to make jokes about a couple when they indeed behave like a couple.

You can joke with your friend for 'acting gay' but if he was actually gay then the joke wouldn't be funny and also it would be weird to do that because he is indeed gay. So you're just pointing out something that's true.

Jikook makes this fandom uncomfortable anon. Thats why they don't like talking about them.

P.s -> JK likes to be in control of situations. If he's the one intiating skinship its okay. Because he's in control. But when someone else puts him in that position it catches him off guard and it can make him look miffed. More so especially when its Jimin. Because with him there is something to hide and so it makes JK on high alert.

“Just tell me what color it is, if you don’t I’ll never talk to you again and eat all your food.” Humming as if in thought, you run a hand through Yoongi’s newly dyed hair, brush in hand in ready to style. Thankfully it was bleached already, so taking care of the color in your end wasn’t too hard. The house feels lively, open to allow the warm summer air to seep in.

“Shut up, I’m not telling Yoon. I won the bet fair and square, you’ll wait till I’m done like a good orient boy. Namjoon’s gonna freak.” Pulling on the strap of the face mask he has covering his eyes, you let it snap forward to thwack against his head. Continue to brush through his hair softly, you note that the color turned out how you wanted it to as light rays hit it from the open window. Said bet consisted of the size of Joon’s big meaty thighs. Since he’s been working out more often, he’s been taking measurements of himself to check for muscle gain. The man was oddly happy to share the numbers with you.

“It was rigged, I don’t know how but I know it was. Should’ve known that assholes thighs would get bigger in a two day period somehow. He’s fucking crazy…” Yoongi sounds grumpy, and you can’t help but coo lightly as he mumbles to himself. You just know he’s got the cutest little pout on his face. It’s too bad Namjoons not here to see it, you know the man would eat it up.

“They always get bigger, you should know that by now. The man’s a big nerdy tank who doesn’t know when to stop.” Namjoon really is living in a world of duality. Working with books and papers during the day, working out and getting ripped at night. You should really tag along sometime, maybe Yoongi would want to go with… You can’t see him working out, but something tells you he’d keep himself busy looking at Joonie.

“… I don’t look stupid, do I?” Pausing, you take your hand away from his hair and pat his shoulder soothingly. Blonde definitely doesn’t look bad on him, he looks hot actually, although he might not be the most satisfied with the color because it’s what Namjoon had been pestering him to do ever since he mentioned wanting a change. Every time he suggested it to Yoongi, you swore there were little hearts in his eyes.

“No Yoon, you look really good actually. I think the color suits you a lot.” Yoongi settles, going quiet as you put some product at the bottom for split ends. It’s a relatively big change from the previous black, but seeing it bleached for a few weeks was a good buffer. It had been a bit yellow, but helping him tone it and the new dye really fixed it up. Glancing at the clock, you’re note that it’s rice, so you should have just enough time to finish up.

“Alright, I’m just going to put a bit more product and then I’ll let you see!” Before you finish the sentence, the front door rattled and you freeze. Apparently you spoke too soon, Namjoon isn’t supposed to be home for another hour at least. Welp, this is going to be interesting.

“Hey guys, how are- Holy shit. You’re blonde and adorable!” Said man walks in, eyes blowing wide as soon as he sees Yoongi. It’s quiet after that, everyone blinking at each other before Yoongi whips around to look at you, eyes narrowed as you smile wryly back. Hopefully he doesn’t smother you in your sleep.

“I’m what?!” The blonde rips his blindfold of and grabs for the mirror off the table next to you, holding it up to finally get a proper look at himself. In his outrage, he doesn’t notice ad Joon comes into the house further, eyes locked onto the back of Yoongi’s beautiful blonde head.

“Oh you are so dirty for this.” A giggle leaves you as he glares, pout still in place before Namjoon swipes at his locks, pulling on the hair lightly to examine the strands. Yoongi stiffens, turning back to glare at Namjoon. Precious.

“Aw, don’t be mad. You look so pretty Yoongi. Like a pretty little kitten…” Tomato red is the only was to describe the smaller man’s face, the flush quickly taking over his cheeks as he splutters. The bigger man giggles with you, poking lightly at Yoons cheek before turning his attention toward you.

“You did a good job _____, the next time I do my hair I’ll ask you to help out. I know it’ll look perfect.” Feeling yourself fluster a bit, you cough as Namjoon heads toward the kitchen obliviously, missing the way Yoongi smirks up at you with a twinkle in his eye.

“Paybacks coming your way, just you wait princess.”

I wouldn't call it a sensitive matter, but if a particular segment of the fandom (cough, Taekookers, cough) is feeling upset about this, I don't see any issue with that as long as it doesn't lead to hatred toward other members. That's where I draw the line. This isn't your typical BTS content where all members are expected to be present. It's a bit more complex. I think the issue arises from the company's focus on specific pairs most of the time. I'm not implying a conspiracy, but content related to YOONMIN, NAMKOOK, MINIMONI, VMIN, NAMGI, etc., could have been included and celebrated with same enthusiasm over the 10 years.

I believe Jungkook is telling the truth when he mentioned that Jimin wanted to do this, and the company seized the opportunity. If Taekook shippers have an issue with it, they have a right to be. Jikook and Taekook are two of the biggest ships in the fandom. So, if the company focuses solely on one pair and not the other, it's not fair to Taekook enthusiasts or even ARMY who want to see Taekook content. It also sets a certain narrative that can lead to unwarranted hate towards Taehyung (even by OT7). There's no concrete proof or statements regarding any pairing's realness; it's mostly fan speculation, which may or may not be accurate. But to overlook Taekook as a pair for official content, especially for ARMY who believe no member is in a romantic relationship, is setting the stage for unnecessary criticism.

As you've mentioned before, and I agree, Taekook has matured and can handle being on camera together just fine. I can understand any concerns up until 2018, but beyond that, it seems like it's taking a long time to establish that Taehyung can do something for Jungkook without people jumping to conclusions. When people wonder why Taehyung gets more hate, this is a part of the answer. Even now we see Taekook more together in ads than company content. I'm not accusing the company of any malicious intent; they likely made these decisions to protect the members and themselves, but that doesn't mean these decisions can't be flawed. I apologize for the lengthy rant, but it's clear that the company did dirty to Taekookers in this regard.

And people say we are unhinged when most of the things we get are either from the artists or third party sightings. Trust me I understand why jkkrs looks so delulu.

Mmm, that is a complex thing actually right? Because the way we look at this kinda has to do with which perspective we take (though perhaps the outcome is the same on all accounts, just the way we get to it might differ). Gonna think out loud a bit..

If we take the most neutral perspective, that would be that of Armies who don't believe in ships. I kinda wonder if they even think about stuff like this. Do non shippers miss company Taekook content? I really don't know. I think perhaps some might have the same reaction some Tkkrs have to Jkk content. They associate Taekook with Tkkrs and are therefore more busy with fandom reaction than with the actual content. But then again, I follow some (I think..though you never know) neutral blogs and those are always happy to see Tae and Jk together. In general my take is that neutral army does not have the same call for Tkk content as we do... whereas I have seen a call for Vmin content when there was a lack thereof. I'm sure neutrals would love to see Tae and Jk together in something, but I don't know if the demand is actually that high.

Now, let's take the company's perspective... I am of the opinion that the company does not treat both ships equaly, because they know one is not actually a ship. That does change things, because there is the adition of having to keep it a secret.. and.. extra Tkk content will surely get huge fandom reactions. Taking into account that there's arguably more Tkkrs than Jkkrs already.. I'd say they perceive it as an actual risk. That does not necessarily mean that the risk is as high as they perceive it, but they will always base their decisions on worst case scenarios. They protect their business and a part of that is keeping 'scandals' away. Is that unfair? Definitely, the whole closeting situation is unfair. Is it with bad intentions? I mean.. partly? It does actually protect Tae and Jk's privacy and relationship, because imagine the whole world and media being all over them. I'd say the worst thing is that they aren't allowed to be openly queer. Privacy and openness about sexuality should be up to them, and I think the company does have a say in that. I don't know how much of the pairing of Yoonmin, Hopemin, Vmin we got this year is the company's idea or the result of members preferences. I tend to believe Jimin and Yoongi and Jimin and Hobi are actually close and that therefore them being in official content together is natural. But, there's also obviously pr benefits there. People hate me for this, but Jm at Tae's fanmeeting was pr for both.. does that mean their connection is less real? No. Things can be both and it was clear that they both enjoyed being able to do this together. Same goes for Jm and Jk's travelvlog stuff. It's nice that they get to do that together and I think they had a blast and both wanted to do it. But the purpose of it is to entertain Army. And that is where the difference becomes clear in how the company treats Taekook... because I am fairly sure we would never have gotten a Taekook travelvlog (omg how hilarious would that be.. for us 😂)if Tae and Jk had wanted to do it. Sure we get them interacting on lives and they might even do a live together at one point, but actual company released footage... I don't think it's in the stars for us. But... then again you never know and we might just get lucky someday. Sure, not all members get to pair up.. we don't really see Namjoon do anything with anyone as much, but the thing is that Tae and Jk are amongst the closest (if not closest... yes, closest!) pairing and they do not get put together on official content. Unfair or protection? I don't know.. maybe also both.

So our perspective (as Tkkrs) we will always think of it as unfair. We want as much as we can get and we are [rotective of them and we think we know what they themselves would want at times. Do Tae and Jk actually want to be doing something offical together? And to what extent? I still have some hopes for Tae going to support Jk publicly somewhere. I think him being in Suchwita (which could have been edited out) was a step. But I don't think it's going to be much bigger steps than that. Perhaps they'll go to some awardshows together, or with Jimin as well? I think their relationship with Tkkrs is complex. Though it might feel justifying in some way, us screaming too loudly will increase their unsafety. Tkkrs in comments being too bold is annoying for that same reason. They can't come out, so don't push them. I think the company's relationship is equally complex, but obviously not emotionally based. They too have to walk a line between making use of them and keeping them a secret.

Lastly, we have the perception of other ships, mainly Jkkrs. To them, Jm and Jk doing a travelvlog together is proof. I mean, it's probably gonna be worse than the Tokyo GCF. That sucks because I already know the amount of straws in my inbox will be insane and their takes on it will make me cringe out of embarresment and annoyance. But.. that does not mean Jk and Jm shouldn't be able to do this stuff. They want to, they enjoy it.. and I will just avoid straws for a while until things have settled.

I am gonna enjoy seeing Jm and Jk together so much. I love them, love the way they interact and I think it's gonna be super funny. Sure things might be unfair on some level (I don't actually think I have a strong conclusion in here somewhere), but to me that does not stand in the way of enjoying whatever content we get. I think this whole situation makes it hard to be fair to everyone in all aspects.
