Midnight Dare
Tumblr media
Word Count: 1.5k
Pairing: Haechan x Original female character
Minor Characters: Johnny, Mark
Genre: Humor, Romance
Warnings: Sexual themes (very suggestive), mentions of alcohol, Haechan has a big dick (oops)
A/N: Happy New Year! Here's a oneshot I manically wrote after reading a prompt posted here that says "Their friends dare them to kiss a stranger at midnight and they are just tipsy enough to actually do it."
“You know, it's actually really hard having such a fat cock,” He said, letting out a dramatic sigh. A few forced laughs and groans followed.
Tessa wasn't eavesdropping, but it was difficult to ignore him even from across the room. It was at least the third time that night she heard him mention his dick. It had to be on purpose, because he always brought it up the moment she was within hearing radius.
“Does this guy ever shut up,” Tessa said quietly to herself. Taking a swing from the bottle, a sour taste filled her mouth. Either the beer was clearly skunked or her body was having a visceral reaction to the man sitting on the couch a few feet away from her.
“Ah, there you are!”
As she turned her head to the familiar voice from behind her, her heart immediately dropped. She’s rudely greeted with Mark’s shit-eating grin and Johnny’s soft smirk. This pair never sits well with her, and Tessa can feel the beer rise up in her throat. Flashbacks from almost every single party in college came flooding back instantly. With these two, there was never a dull moment. They would always come up with a plan to make the night more interesting. It seemed they’ve never left their scheming ways behind.
“Why do you two look so happy? Finally get laid?”
“Actually, it's you who is going to get laid,” Johnny corrected her.
Operation “get Tessa laid” was apparently well underway, and she knew she couldn't stop them if they’ve already put their minds to it. Maybe it's best to just hear them out, she thought. How crazy would their idea even be?
“And why is that?”
“Cause we have a dare for you,” Mark adds, his smirk never faltering.
Tessa was never one to back down from a good dare. And what was the harm in acting like a bunch of college kids again, for old times sake?
“Hit me,” she replied, tilting the bottle again for another sip. The sour taste was still there. Tessa knew she needed a stronger drink than this to get through the night. She could pretend that she wasn't nervous, but Mark and Johnny didn't need to know.
“Okay so you know “Fat Cock” guy over there, right?” Mark gestured over to the couch, but Tessa didn't need to look. Regret bubbled up in her stomach and she thought her beer might come up any second.
“Unfortunately,” she muttered, waiting for him to get on with it already.
“Well it doesn't look like he's getting much action tonight, so we thought we could help him out,” Johnny continued where Mark left off.
“And where is my part in all of this?"
“At midnight, we dare you to give him a New Year’s kiss,” Johnny said, and she waited for the punchline. But it never comes, because the look on his face is one of sheer determination.
“So are you in?” Mark added, trying to make it come out as a question. But it was more like a command.
Ah, the illusion of free will. Tessa never really had a choice, because one of them always made sure not taking the dare was the worse option.
“Sure,” she said with a smirk, “You know I’m always in.”
Tessa tried to keep her false confidence from showing, worried that they might see right through her ruse. As she glanced at the couch, he was still there. No longer boosting, but instead smirking. As if he knew what was being conjured up right under his nose. She definitely needed another drink.
“That didn't take a lot of convincing,” Johnny noted, trying to bite back a laugh.
He was right, normally Tessa would fight a lot harder than this. But it was just a kiss, nothing more. Harmless.
“It’s the most tame dare you've given me since college,” She reminded him. He didn't respond, but instead simply nodded in acknowledgement. A comfortable lull in the conversation fell, and Tessa took this time to let the dare soak. It was going to be easy. As she started to formulate the plan in her head, Tessa was interrupted when the silence was broken.
“So why are you still standing here?” Mark questioned.
“It's not even close to midnight,” she quipped. “Plus, I’m going to get another drink.”
“You might want to reconsider doing that,” Johnny warned as he quickly checked his phone before clicking it off and shoving it back in his pocket. “It's t-minus two minutes until midnight.”
Only two minutes? Was her sense of time that altered? And how the hell was she going to pull this one off? No introduction, just kiss him and walk away like nothing happened?
“Oh, and let us know if he's lying or not,” Mark said in a tone that definitely was way too serious. Johnny let out a snicker, and her eyes went wide.
“Don't keep your hopes up,” Tessa narrowed her eyes before giving Johnny and Mark a disgusted glance. It was just a dare, but it felt like she was walking into her grave.
There he was, in all his glory. The man, the myth, the legend? He lounged on the couch, his arm draped over the cushions as he analyzed the crowd. Thankfully no one was around him. Tessa couldn't go forward with the dare with an audience. But that was incorrect. She did in fact have an audience of two and suddenly she could feel their eyes bore into her back. Were they waiting for her to crash and burn? Of course they were.
Without warning, the countdown around her began. Counting down her slipping sanity like a chanting cult. It was all so silly how easily embarrassed she was about a simple kiss. But there was no time to think. With her heart no longer trusting her brain to take control, her body seemed to move on its own accord.
As she sat down right next to him, her thigh pressing against his own, his attention was instantly pulled into her orbit. This close, she could see his deep brown eyes and how the light danced within them. He seemed shocked at first, but he quickly composed himself. As if he knew. As if he’d been expecting this.
Fuck. He was better looking than Tessa thought, then again she only peeked at him from afar. A safe distance. But safety was thrown out the window when she closed in on him, pressing her lips to his the second everyone cheered.
Shouts of “Happy new year!” rang throughout the crowded apartment, but time seemed to slow. His lips were unbelievably soft, melting into her own like a popsicle in the blazing summer heat. How could it be this warm in the winter? She could feel him bringing her in closer by her waist. Then a familiar heat started to grow between her thighs. It didn't take long until she wanted more and more.
A safe distance, what was that? Desire clouded her judgment as he deepened the kiss. It was tender, yet filled with need. Her body was on fire. Just as she was about to snake her hand up his thigh, to find out if he was telling the truth, he pulled away with a knowing smirk. As if he caught her red-handed.
“Happy new year,” she said breathlessly.
“What's your name?” he softly asked.
Was this the same guy from earlier? Mr. Fat Cock? She should’ve felt repulsed, but her body failed her. A warm heat crept up in her cheeks. Maybe it was curiosity that kept her by his side. She completed the dare after all, maybe she could indulge in her friends’ inquiry. Just for tonight. Because who was she kidding? They weren't the only ones who were curious.
“Tessa,” she told him, and waited for his reply.
“Pleasure to meet you, Tessa.” he said, and it felt like his voice was bewitching her. “I’m Haechan.” His smirk never left his face. He didn't say another word and left his eyes to speak for him. Like he was saying I know why you’re here, do you want to find out?
And like a moth to the flame, Tessa couldn't help but take his invitation. What was the harm in finding out if he was just bluffing? Haechan slowly rose from the couch wordlessly, his eyes never leaving hers. When he stretched his hand outwards for her to reach, Tessa took it without a second guess. Because there was no time for thinking. Not when he guided her through the crowd and down the hallway. She could only hear the distant laughter and conversations mixed with her loud heart beat.
No time for regret as he pulled her in the empty bathroom and cornered her between his body and the door. His arm raised above her head to shut the door as quietly as he could, like he was making sure no one suspected they had disappeared. The noise from the rest of the party was muffled, and Tessa wondered if they would be able to hear her cries of pleasure. Because when he pressed his body into hers for the second time that night, she could feel that he was definitely not lying.

Chapter 2 | Garage
(Y/n)’s eyes fell to darkness as the inside of the van was not lit up. Either they did this on purpose to get her to become more vulnerable or uncomfortable, or the owner of this van (the four men) was just too lazy to add in a light; a lamp would be a good addition to this mopey van. The metal beneath her was cold, and she could see the moonlight through many bullet holes littered throughout the shell of the vehicle. Staring up into them, she picked at her skin. They did not restrain her in any way, if you didn't count locking up the van so she couldn't escape whatever plans the group of men had. Though she swears that they look like they belonged to a bigger team than just the four of them.
Hearing them chat out the front of the van raised even more questions in her mind, who were these other people? And who the hell calls their child ‘medic? ‘Scout’ was clearly the weakest of them all, in a keeping secrets sense. He was loud and talked a lot, A LOT. From making fun of the ‘Blu’s’ to poking fun at ‘Heavy’ for his driving skills. (Y/n) tapped her fingers along the metal floor, feeling the cold absorb into her skin and cause her to shiver. The least they could have done is given her a blanket or jumper to fend off the cold surrounding her.
She could tell Heavy didn't like Scout. Even if in his low voice there was no semblance of anger in it, she could still imagine how he is crushing the steering wheel as Scout began to laugh about the Medic. He heard Scout comment that if he gripped the steering wheel harder he'd crash the van with his weight alone, the van turned as Heavy hit the boy.
“OW!! Right, you're a sensitive big baby, sorry for hurting your little feeling” Scout muttered, (y/n) heard him say, and stopped herself from laughing at his comment.
She hums softly, eyes wide open and still investigating the shell which protected the world around her from her pyromaniac fingers and eyes full of fire. Her lighter was still in her pockets, but her pocket knife was taken away from her for the safety of the men now she thinks it was just for the safety of Scout, who looked weaker than her even if he was taller and faster. But it sucked that the small blade was taken from her as it was a parting gift to her from her brother before he was sent out to war; being a man in the army forced him to fight for their country. And (Y/n) is hanging onto the hope that she sees him again and gets that knife back from Scout.
Her eyes fell back to one of the larger holes in the van, hearing the groan from the metal as a breath of wind flowed through the holes in the walls. Making her shiver as she went back into her mind, maybe these people were connected to an army of some sort, no that seems silly. They all are wearing red, even the fancy french ones. They are probably some gang that seems more reasonable, if not more terrifying. But that didn't stop her brain from making her feel like she was unstoppable and couldn't be held down, even by some gang that didn't even use weaponry of any kind, unlike the officers who were always happy to take her prisoner. A female who was unstable, what an easy room she got in that jail.
Suddenly the van came to a harsh stop, she was shoved into the walls by the motion of parking and audibly let out a noise in pain, Scout snickered at it and (Y/n) narrowed her eyes in the dark. Finally, they got used to the darkness. Faintly seeing boxes surrounding her and a set of benches on each wall. Good thing she wasn't thrown into one of them. Heavy was kind enough not to throw her inside the van. And she felt him exit the van, the vehicle creaking under the sudden loss of weight, and it tilted to the side. Scout also exited, she heard him greet other people and greet a female. Clear by him calling her Ms Pauling, he seemed extremely enamored by her existence. And also, the sound of high heels against hard flooring was a clear giveaway.
Then the sliding door of the van was yanked open, the sound of metal against metal made (Y/n) cringe inside from the sound. She looked forwards, staring straight at the woman she heard walking outside the van.
“Heavy, get her out of there.” She spoke with authority in her tone, her head held high and her back so straight you couldn't even think she was in a lower position than one in power or at least an assistant to the higher power.
Heavy then walked over, stretching into the van as (Y/n) backed up, kicking her legs in front of her trying to grip the van's flooring. Heavy still could reach into the van and grab her, god knows how tall this man was, he grabbed her ankle and dragged her forwards and lifted her out of the van and onto her feet. Her landing was wobbly, but she still could stand as the Russian man behind her still held her to ensure she wouldn't run for it at any opportunity.
“(Y/n) (L/n)?” She questioned, looking down at the clipboard in her hands and then back up at (Y/n). The woman nodded slowly. Then she looked down at her arm, clicked her pen and wrote something down quickly. (Y/n) stood there awkwardly, looking around. Scout was gone, and there was no sight of anyone else but her, Heavy and Ms Pauling.  It was eerie in addition to the dry cold air, and the sky dark with no semblance of the sun and its remnants in the moon’s light which fell onto the trio. And the lights of what seemed like a garage flashed behind Ms Pauling.
“So Ms (L/n), you have been brought here on the recommendation of higher-ups at Mann.Co. I am sure you’ve heard that name before,” She said, sounding bored and tired all in one, mixed in with her professionalism.
“They’ve requested you to replace one of our classes due to an accident which had occurred not too long ago, and the rest is classified”, She added, moving paperwork on her clipboard, letting the metal clip snap down and echoing its sound throughout the garage.
“O-kay”, (Y/n) replied, looking not so fond of this predicament as Ms Pauling looked at her through her eyelashes and raised an eyebrow.
“That's all?” She questioned, (Y/n) nodded slowly.
“What am I supposed to say? No?” She asked the woman before her. Hints of sarcasm dripped through her words as Ms Pauling sighed deeply.
“No, otherwise you’d need to be dealt with '' She muttered, seriousness in her voice and (y/n) looked at her in confusion.
“Dealt wit-”
“Anyway, I will be leading you to your room. And to what your role is in Teufort. The money you earn will be sent to a bank account in your name, and after the introduction, I will send you off to Medic for your respawn chip and uber” She cut (Y/n) off before she could start giving her any questions and gestured to Heavy to let her go. The large man dropped his arms and walked off, pressing a button to open a large metal garage door which he kept open for the two women behind him.
(Y/n) eyes left his figure as he disappeared behind the wall. Then her (e/c) eyes met with Ms Pauling’s green ones, reflecting an image of (y/n) in her glasses, leaving her staring at her reflection-watching face instead of paying attention to what she was saying.
“-the medic will be intense, but you’ll get used to it, maybe” She mumbled the last word and then snapped her fingers in front of (y/n)’s face; the woman waved away the manicured hand as she blinked back into existence.
“I was listening”, (Y/n) defended, and Ms Pauling just looked at her blankly.
“Right, let's go” She turned around and started to walk into the garage, and the woman behind her slowly followed. She looked around as they entered, with the garage door creaking and groaning as it closed. Dust rose as the metal door closed behind (Y/n).
Beeping filled her ears suddenly as a red laser was trained on the center of her chest, she stepped back as a large machine faced her. Wiring and clicking echoed from this creation, two machine guns strapped to mechanical legs and rocket launchers above the guns. Now that seemed like overkill. (Y/n) hands went up as Ms Pauling looked at the sentry and then back at her.
“Come on, you're not blu, so you're fine” She addressed the gun as (Y/n) looked at her as if she was crazy, blu?? What if she did wear blue what would happen?
“Okay, but if I get shot?”
“You'd be dead already. Hurry up” She hurried the woman, and (Y/n) looked at the turret and stepped slowly after Ms Pauling, who was already out the door, which flashed a light quickly before shutting off. The door clicked when it closed behind her, locking itself automatically.
“So that is the back entrance to the base. Here is where you’ll be staying between missions and contracts. As the rest of the team is, you all have separate rooms, and you’ll be taking over the room from the person before you,” She explained. Now in a hallway that contained six rooms, then there was another hallway that had two rooms, they looked fancier and larger than the other six.
Incessant beeping echoed from Ms Pauling's belt, a pager hung off of it. She took in a breath of air and checked it.
“I won't be able to take you around the rest of the base. The lounge and kitchen are connected down the hall, left then forwards. Or ask Heavy” The woman then turned on her heel and went the other way, leaving (Y/n) in the hallway in front of a room with a fire emblem on the door. She turned to face the door and then back to where now Ms Pauling had disappeared off to.
‘What. the. hell.’

Nick Helm’s a bit like Rhys James, in that any time I’m not actually looking at him I think of him vaguely as one in a sea of comedians who can be rather amusing on a TV panel show sometimes but he’s nothing special. And then every time I actually watch him, I remember, oh right, he’s fucking hilarious. That is the only thing Nick Helm has in common with Rhys James.
I watched the NextUp stream of his 2023 Edinburgh show, and God, that was so much fun. So much fun. The energy. So much energy. Where does he find the energy? …I just looked up his age, because to be honest I though it would be around 50, and I’ve learned it’s 42. But somehow, the wildly high levels of energy he puts out there make him seem older than he actually is. I think because what happens is he uses wildly high levels of energy, this tires him out, so he’s always out of breath and looks like he’s on the verge of keeling over, and therefore, I thought he was older than he actually is. 42’s not that old. Lots of people could keep this up at 42. But it’s possible that Nick Helm has aged himself beyond his years by so much time doing this shit.
He’s older than he used to be, I’ll say that. In that Edinburgh stream from last week, he looked noticeably older than in his Catsdown Dictionary Corner spots from the mid-2010s. But weirdly, given his comedy style, I think that actually helps. Because he hasn’t slowed down. He just looks like maintaining the energy levels is harder for him than it used to be, and making it look like everything he’s doing is really hard for him is part of his schtick. A schtick that works even better now that he does have grey in hair, and his voice is gone a bit, and he’s out of breath after every song. I realize this is coming off as an incredibly backhanded compliment, “I love the way Nick Helm seems old and fading now.” But honestly, I really do love it! He’s always been great fun, but I think I like this version of him best. Because let’s be honest – he was never a great singer. A beautiful singing voice wasn’t the point. The point was that he was a bit raspy because he kept going comically over the top to try to sing too intensely. Well, at this point, he starts getting the raspiness in his voice earlier than he used to, I think. And it works.
This show was for the tenth anniversary of his album Hot ‘n’ Heavy, which came out in 2013. It’s not a stand-up comedy show, it’s a concert. He plays every song off the album, in order. He does some talking between the songs, and does establish a comedy bit that runs through the whole show, where he berates the audience for not being good enough. He builds it up and then pays it off with enough skill to remind you that he is a comedian, but this isn’t a musical comedy show. It’s a music concert but the songs are funny. And it’s great. It feels like how Nick Helm is meant to be. He’s up there with a full band (a band that includes, among other people, comedians Rob Deering and Huge Davies), and concert-style lights and shit, running around the stage like a rockstar, shout-singing at the audience for an hour and a half.
I think this will reappear on NextUp when they catch up in September, if anyone wants to watch it. You can also buy the album on Bandcamp, though to be honest, seeing Nick Helm’s wild stage presence really adds stuff to it that you don’t get in an audio-only album. It’s amazingly funny to hear his songs delivered while he physically regards his audience with the intensity of a man challenging them to a fight, throwing everything at them that he possibly can, until his voice goes hoarse and he’s literally gasping for breath.
I’d say this song summarizes Nick Helm pretty well. If you like this, then check out more of his stuff. If you don’t, then you will not like anything else he’s ever done. I think it's excellent.

Yandere!Karl Heisenberg x Reader
Tumblr media
Synopsis: Heisenberg kidnaps the reader. And she’s pissed about it. And so is he. Turns out there’s a lot more to it than it seems, tw: kidnapping I’m not tagging for violence because it’s less graphic than even the mild stuff in canon. Like reader gets a concussion and a dislocated arm, that’s it.
A/N: first time ever writing for Resident Evil. I haven’t even played the games, only watched a play-through and immediately fell in love with this hobo. Honestly, there’s a lot of room to make a sequel or some more from this but I have commitment issues and it probably won’t happen.
Oh and one last thing! Do you think I should add resident evil: village to my fandoms I write for or no. Let me know please!
It’s dark in your small cottage, claustrophobic with the way you stumble to the front door as fast as you can. You try to take deep breaths, but you can’t, not with someone chasing you. You cut through the kitchen, and when he reaches out to grab you, you slam the door to a cabinet as hard as you can. You can hear his pained yell.
“Don’t make this harder than it has to be, (y/n),” he says.
“I’ll make it as hard as I damn please!” You put your hand on the handle to the front door, twist and right before you manage to open it, a body slams into yours and you hear your arm pop. Loudly. And it burns at the elbow like someone poured gasoline on it and set it on fire.
You can hear his heavy breathing and feel the warm air on the crown of your head. “You put up a good fight, I’ll give you that much.” He presses his body further into yours, and you feel everything. The toned muscle under a layer of fat, the harsh fabric of his shirt and jacket, and the bulge that presses into the small of your back.
“You’re so small,” he coos, like he’s talking to a dog, “I can’t wait to break you.”
You manage to wiggle one arm free and jab him in the side as hard as you can with your elbow. You hear him say oof under his breath, and you take this as the opportunity to press your foot into the door and push back into him as hard as you can, to at least get him to stumble back.
It doesn’t work, he just leans his whole-body weight on you and uses one hand to smash your head into the door. He could have done it harder, you reckon, but it still hurts like a mother fucker. “Shut the fuck up before I do something I regret.”
“Like you don’t already regret breaking into my house and trying to kidnap me? Like you don’t regret slamming me into my door and dislocating my elbow? What are you going to do to me that you’ll regret? Huh?”
He looks down at you through those yellow glasses of his, light from the glass peephole reflecting off of them but his hat shading the rest of his face. “I said shut the fuck up!” He presses your head even further into the door, and your temple digs into the frame. It hurts, and your eyes water from the pain.
“Who even are you?!” You end up shouting. His grip loosens a little bit, just enough for you to move your head off the door frame and onto the actual door. “I’ve never met you in my goddamn life and you break into my house, say you love me, and try to kidnap me!”
Something in him breaks, you can tell, the outline of his features look crestfallen. “You don’t know who I am?”
“No… I don’t. And here you are in my house, chasing me around like I’m some goddamn animal you’re hunting.” Your eyes water. “I know you don’t mean a damn word you said this entire time.”
“Shut your goddamn trap woman!” His grip on your hair tightens. “I love you and we both know it; I know everything about you.”
“So, you’re a stalker? Huh, didn’t think I was pretty enough to have one.”
“I knew you had a mouth on you, and it was attractive till it was pointed in my direction.” His voice is low and gravelly at this point, like a thin string that’s pulled taut and about to snap.
“Well get used to it you fu-” You don’t get to finish your sentence, because a piece of metal from his hammer slams you hard in the face, knocking you out cold.
When you wake up, it’s hard to open your eyes. It’s too bright and the room is spinning when you move your head up. That must be one hell of a bump on your forehead. You go to feel it, only to find you hands chained up to a metal pipe on the wall. Your feet are too, but that chain is a lot slacker.
You’re lying down on the floor, a cheap scratchy blanket separating you from rough, worn down cement. It’s still hard and cold, but it didn’t scratch up your skin, so that’s something to be grateful for. You look around the room, only to find an old tv, that’s on, and playing static. That’s what was so bright, you realize.
Suddenly the noise from the t.v. stops, and you hear a voice. It’s still sounds like static, but it’s audible enough to understand the words and recognize the voice. It’s the same guy who kidnapped you. You don’t really process what he’s saying, it’s just noise to you, and you close your eyes and curl up as best as you can. Maybe you’ll wake up, and everything will be okay.
             “Quit ignoring me girlie.”
You snap out of your daydreaming. The days of that warm bed and leaky bathroom faucet are over, and this cruel situation is your reality for the time being.
“Okay. Okay. But just quiet down my head hurts.”
“I’d be sorry, but you brought that upon yourself,” he says.
You can’t help but be snarky, you’re tired and already sick of this shit. “I’m sorry you don’t have the self-control to not kidnap people and knock them unconscious via flying pieces of metal.”
             “Touché.” You hear back.
“Can you at least get me some Tylenol for my head or something.”
“Why should I? After all the attitude you’ve given me, I should just leave you in there to starve.” Looks like he knows how to be snarky too.
“Because you were the one who hit me in the head and locked me in here?”
             “Apologize and I’ll consider it.”
You go back to your curled up position. “I guess I’ll just starve down here then.”
The t.v. cuts off again, or you just tune him out, just run your hands along the chains to try and find a lock. You find the one attached to your left ankle and begin to plot your escape. Maybe you could pick the lock with a bobby pin? You run your hands through your hair, not only to find that it was down, but all of them were removed.
You run your hands down your pajama pants. Maybe you have something in your pockets? They also turn up empty.
“Are you looking for something to pick the lock with?” You hear from the t.v. You turn back to look at it, only to see his face. He’s not wearing his glasses, and he’s taken off his worn-out bucket hat, so you can see his untamed salt and pepper hair. “I took the liberty of searching your person while you were knocked out. I highly doubt you’ll find something to pick the lock with.”
“You’re an asshole, you know that.” You find yourself saying. To be fair, you probably shouldn’t, considering that he: is holding you hostage, threatening to leave you to starve, and is clearly a psychopath, despite his claims that he loves you.
“Calm down, you know it makes me upset to see you mad.”
You can’t help but raise your voice at him. “Quit fucking taunting me! You won this stupid ass game. You kidnapped me! You can come down here and kill me now!”
“You think I wanna kill you?” He asks, you can tell he’s just as furious as you are. He chuckles lightly. “You know I love you. I did this for your own good! There are people out there. People who want to taint you and your innocence! People who want to hurt you!”
“I can handle myself just fine! I had before your psycho ass came along and kidnapped me!” Your furious, desperately searching for a weak point on the pipe with your hands while you yell at the t.v.
“And what would have happened if I didn’t?” He asks you, “lady supersized bitch in the castle would have gotten to you first… I can’t have that.”
“I’m sorry who?” You ask. Suddenly things have gotten more confusing.
“I’m not the only one who’s after you,” he clarifies. “You think I’m the one who’s a psychopath, there’s a woman out there who wants to drink your blood and eat your flesh! And monster that wants to drown you and swallow you whole-”
“Slow down! I have no idea what the fuck you’re talking about!”
“Don’t interrupt me! I want what’s best for you!” You can hear him take a deep breath. “I’m going to bring you upstairs and explain everything. And you’re going to behave, am I clear?”
             You just nod your head.
“Good. Now stop trying to find a weak point on that pipe to get loose before I get down there. It has carbon monoxide in there, you’ll poison yourself before you get to that door.”
You immediately stop twisting the connector and drop your hands to your sides.
“Good girl…” His praise makes you want to vomit. “Now stay still while I come get you.”
When he comes down and opens that iron door and unceremoniously tosses you over his shoulder, you can’t help but comment on it. “Am I a bag of potatoes to you?”
“Don’t complain, I could be like that Dimitrescu bitch and turn you into wine.”
You shut up immediately and grasp the back of his coat for balance. You don’t know why, but his empty threats scare you immensely. You watch the hallways blur into one another, trying to see if you can find a window, or an escape rout of some sort, hell, even a vent he couldn’t fit in but you could would work well.
He smacks your thigh. Not hard, but enough for a slight sting and to get your attention. “We’re in the center of the factory, there’s no need for you to be tracking an escape route, especially because you won’t be leaving any time soon.”
Eventually, you end up in a small office like space, with a desk, a cork board with several pictures of people on it, and a large grate that leads to a tunnel downwards. He pulls the metal chair out of the corner with his powers and places you in the chair. “Stay.”
“So…” He turns towards the cork board. “Since your out of town, I’ll explain the run-down-“
“I don’t really care for the details.” You stand up from the chair and go to walk towards him, but he crosses the room in a second and slams you back down.
“I told you to stay in that goddamn chair!” He opens his mouth to explain but a whirring noise starts out of nowhere. It’s loud, obnoxious, and coming from the vent. He opens it. “Shut your goddamn trap!”
“Anyhow, (Y/N),” he starts, “the other three lords decided that they’re interested in you, for whatever their reasons are. I’m assuming they want to kill you.”
“That’s a veeeeeery extreme assumption.” You roll your eyes, and prop your head on your hands.
“Well two of them are well know for turning people into dolls and drinking their blood,” he says casually, “it’s only a fair assumption they want to do the same with you.”
             “I’m sorry they what?”
He turns to you, surprised for a moment that you don’t know what he’s talking about. “Super-sized bitch over here,” a sharp piece of metal lands on the photo of a pale, middle aged woman with bold red lipstick and a black hat, “is one of the other three lords, known for drinking the blood of girls like yourself. Wouldn’t suggest meeting her, she’s not that pleasant.”
             “Known for?”
“Sort of, most of the towns people don’t know,” he turns to you and leans on the table by the cork board, “they’re too busy worshipping Mother Miranda.”
“I’ve heard her name before,” you say, “doesn’t she protect the town?”
You can sense the anger you caused before you can take it back.
“That Miranda bitch doesn’t protect anybody from shit. She’s the one causing all the issues, kidnapping people and mutating them, killing them and throwing their lives away like table scraps.” You slams his hand on the table and you visibly flinch. He quickly apologizes.
“You keep mentioning ‘the other three lords’ how many are there, and who’s the one your excluding in that statement?” You question as soon as you get the chance. He’s talking, loudly, quickly and it’s filling up the space in the room with an anxious sort of white noise.
“Pardon me,” he says, and waltzes over, almost over-dramatically. He brings your hand to his lips and places a light kiss. You can feel his stubble and chapped lips on the top of your hand. He desperately needs to use chap-stick. “I’m Heisenberg, one of the four lords, but you can call me Karl.”
“Okay… Karl.” You test the name out on your tongue. “What are you going to do with me, now that I’m here?”
He gets down on one knee in front of you, still holding your hand. “Oh (Y/N), I’m going to treat you how you deserve, like a princess.”

When you were younger, you loved it. You loved looking down at your ankle and seeing the small butterfly just beside your ankle. You’d had it your whole life, though you still weren’t entirely sure how a tattoo grew up with you, but you accepted it. After all, it’s all that you knew.
Everybody’s born with a tattoo on their ankle, a small tattoo that has theirselves embedded into it. However, the older you get the more you realize that it’s not the tattoo you’re born with that makes the biggest impact on you, it’s others’. Every time you fall in love with somebody, your skin makes room for their tattoo on it. Your mom’s tattoo, a small star on her left ankle, shined bright from its place on your father’s wrist, somehow separate from the couple tattoos he collected over the years.
You remember the day you found out about the tattoos, perched in your mom’s lap and listening to her talk to your aunt about it. You remember tracing their tattoos with your small fingers while they told you various stories about their loves and how they grew up collecting tattoos on their skin. You were scared, asked your mom what happened if you never got any more than your single tattoo on your ankle. She told you that you would, that anybody would be lucky to collect your small butterfly somewhere on their body.
You remember the day you got your second tattoo, the paper plane that sat on the back of your left shoulder that now held the role as a painful reminder of your first love. You loved Cory, but the time for the two of you had come and gone. The paper airplane, though never in your line of sight, was still a painful reminder of the times you shared with the boy and how he broke your heart at the end of it all just before moving to college.
You had to go through senior year alone, newly broken up with and with your best friend hours away from home. You couldn’t blame Nolan, not when he was out doing the thing he loved so much. Being in Brandon was good for him, it was all that he wanted, and it wasn’t all that far away from Winnipeg anyways. You still drove out to see Nolan’s games, even if it ran up the miles on your car and had you spending late nights driving back home by yourself. You would’ve done anything for Nolan, and it truly showed during your senior year.
Nolan’s draft day was a rude awakening for you. You jumped up when his name was called, hugging him as tight as you possibly could before hiding your giddy expression behind your hands. You were excited for him, even if he was going all the way out to Philadelphia. You wanted him to be happy, and you could tell within seconds of his name being called that he was going to do just fine in Philly.
You didn’t notice until you got home and your heart sank into your stomach. Your adrenaline high had worn off, and the reality of everything around you began to sink in. You knew what it was the second you laid your eyes on it, black lines etched into the skin of your sternum. You thought it was an odd placement, though it was hard to miss it when you stepped out of the shower and it stood tall and proud and ready to be found.
You knew what it was, you’d seen the shape etched into Nolan’s ankle far more times than you could count. It mocked you, the snake coiled up the same way your memory sketched it out in your brain, and now it was imprinted perfectly into your skin. You touched it, rubbed it, tried to wash it off. You had just taken a shower, just washed the day off of you and down the drain and now you were standing in the middle of a hotel bathroom, rubbing at the spot between your breasts mercilessly. This couldn’t be happening, not to you, not when Nolan was about to move thousands of miles away from you.
But it was happening, because the black line that followed no real pattern never faded, despite the skin around it turning raw from your insistent attempts at washing it off. It was here to stay, no matter what happened in your life down the road. It didn’t matter that you had no heads up, no warning that you were falling head over heels in love with your best friend.
You knew it wouldn’t wash off, but that didn’t stop you from trying. These tattoos were forever, you knew that. You learned from a ripe, young age about obtaining your love’s tattoo. You learned about it growing up, you talked about it with friends and family, hell this wasn’t even your first tattoo that wasn’t your own. You knew the drill, you knew the routine, but that didn’t make it any easier to deal with.
You were 18, watching him sign contracts and make agreements of his big move in a few short weeks. You couldn’t believe it, that you were losing him in a time like this. It made dropping him off at the airport all that much harder, cheeks wet and eyes bloodshot as you clung to him for dear life. You knew his parents wanted to say bye, that his sisters were waiting patiently while you cried into his shoulder, but you couldn’t let go.
He didn’t know about the snake on your sternum, nor did you plan on telling him. You couldn’t drop a bomb like that on him just before he moved to a different country, finally living out the dream he’d had ever since you could remember. Nolan wasn’t Nolan without hockey, and you were aware of that. You were painfully aware of that.
So you didn’t tell him.
You spent too many nights curled up in your bed, clinging to your pillow to muffle the whimpers and whines that pushed through your lips and out into the air. You tried to ignore the sinking feeling in your chest at any given moment, and you did everything in your power to keep everything under wraps. You couldn’t tell anyone, no matter how bad it hurt to be in love with your best friend that now lived so far away from you.
It was hard, hiding it. You had to hide it from your family and friends, and sometimes that was easy. During the cold months you were seemingly off the hook, but when summer rolled around and your friends dragged you out to the lake every chance they got, you were in a bit of trouble. You had to carefully choose what bathing suits you wore and had to make sure nothing slipped or faltered throughout the day.
You’d made it three years without a slip up. Even on nights when Nolan came home and you were mere inches away from him, you couldn’t find it in you to tell him. Even when he was curled up into your side and holding you against his chest in the most comfortable way, you couldn’t say anything. You couldn’t make a move on him.
And now you were in Philly, standing in an arena that had you shivering but smiling brightly from the opposite side of the glass. You smiled every time Nolan skated by, even more when he assisted Travis in the first goal of the game and scored one of his own late in the second period. You were buzzing, adrenaline pumping and excitement shining deep in your chest. Watching Nolan do what he loved would never get old, not when the smile he wore was enough to wash away any fear or worry you’ve ever had.
You remember nights when you couldn’t sleep and Nolan would hold you. You remembered nights when you were crying over the phone to him and he snuck out of his room and into your own. You remembered fights you had and the way he made you walk home one night after one of your bigger ones.
You were walking out of TIm Horton’s, mere feet away from Nolan’s car before you tumbled into an argument you’d been trying to avoid for a few days now. You were dating Cory at the time, and Nolan couldn’t believe you were telling him that you couldn’t go to his game on Friday night, regardless of the fact that you’d promised him for weeks now that you’d be there. It was hard for you to catch games during the week, but this one was on a Friday night with plenty of time for you to finish the school day and drive over to Brandon.
But now you were telling him that you couldn’t go, and no matter how sorry you were, Nolan couldn’t forgive you. He said you’d blown him off for Cory more times than he could accept anymore. You had to call your sister, figuring she was the only one that would pick you up and give you a ride home without threatening to leave you in the parking lot in favor of beating Nolan to a pulp.
None of that mattered though. None of it mattered when you were faced with the boy you’d fallen in love with doing the thing he cherished most. When he left the locker room with a smile brighter than any of his teammates had seen in a long time that was directed straight at you, you knew none of it mattered.
Your feet left the ground, hanging in the air while your best friend clung to your frame tightly. He thanked you for coming, told you that he scored the goal just for you, that he scored every goal for you. You figured it was the adrenaline talking, that he was just basking in the big win against their biggest rivals. That plus the fact that Nolan could barely come to terms with the fact that you were here all for him.
You’d been in Philly before, had visited Nolan a few times over his years with the Flyers. You’d met practically everyone there was to meet and had gotten fairly close with his closest friends by default, seeing as they were always around when you were. Everything was going well this time around, everyone was having fun and getting along and it almost seemed like nothing could fall out of place.
You were standing in the kitchen with Nolan and Travis when Nolan’s name was called, beckoning him out into the rest of the house while you and Travis rallied drinks for the group. He tried to ignore them, tried to help you pile up on wine and beers for the rest of the group but Travis practically kicked him out of the kitchen. Travis said he could help you, that the two of you didn’t need Nolan’s help and that someone else clearly did.
It took all of five minutes for Travis to spill red wine all over your shirt. Thankfully for him, the few glasses you’d thrown back throughout the night washed over any sense of anger or annoyance you’d usually pick up and you simply laughed it off. He felt so bad, begged you to forgive him and let you buy him a new shirt, but all you did was insist that he find you a new one for now and that you could figure out the rest of it when the two of you weren’t tipsy and surrounded by your friends.
Travis ducked out of the kitchen for a second before turning back up and leading you into a hallway on the other end of the house. He told you that Claude never really let them wander his house without a little supervision, claiming that they break everything that they touch, but this was a special case. Claude loved you, and he wasn’t going to let you walk around with a wine stained shirt for the rest of the night, especially when it’s Travis’s fault in the first place.
You laid back on the bed in the room you were unfamiliar with, smiling up at the ceiling and humming to yourself while Travis dug through Claude’s closet.
“I know Ryanne has a stack of those shirts somewhere.” he spoke gently to himself, refraining from throwing clothes all over the room and instead digging for one through multiple piles. You laughed to yourself, not even sure if he knew that you could hear him.
“Just pick one, Teeks!” he huffed and chucked one at you, laughing loudly when it landed directly on your face.
You whined and sat up, reaching for the hem of your shirt without much thought surrounding the subject before peeling it off. All you could think about was how sticky your stomach had gotten from the red spot.
It was the small gasp that got you, the one that brought you back down to Earth and tore you out of your wine-induced haze. It was Travis’s eyes locked in on the spot in the middle of your chest that triggered every panic siren in between your ears.
“Is that-”
“TK you can’t tell him.” you rushed out, pushing yourself to stand up as you pressed a bright orange Flyers shirt against your chest. Your hands were shaking, and Travis’s eyes were glued to the spot of the tattoo even without being able to see it anymore. He knew what that snake was, he knew it all too well. He’d known Nolan for a long time now, and he’d seen the snake enough times to commit it to memory.
He was sure you had Nolan’s snake in the middle of your chest, and now Travis knew you were in love with Nolan.
“Trav, I’m serious.” he shook his head, trying to clear himself of the intrusive thoughts and nodded gently. He couldn’t tell Nolan. He wasn’t entirely sure how he was going to keep that from him, especially when he had been looking for your tattoo on Nolan’s skin for years now.
Travis wasn’t dense. He saw the way that Nolan looked at you, heard the tone he used when he talked about you. He saw how excited Nolan got when he knew you were about to fly into Philly, and he saw how upset Nolan got when you left. He might not have been the brightest bulb in the box, but he knew that there was something lying under the surface of you and Nolan’s friendship.
He tried to have this conversation before, had tried more times than he could count at this point. The only difference now was that there was hard proof, there was evidence that he was right all along. But now he couldn’t use that evidence, not when you were looking at him with wide eyes and begging him to keep it between the two of you.
“Fine, but we’re talking about this before you go back home.” you nodded, figuring that it was good enough for you if it meant he never told Nolan about it.
Except, there was one small problem.
The door swung open, dark and narrowed eyes landing on you and Travis, less than a foot between the two of you with you topless, a single shirt held between your hands and in front of your chest.
“My best friend?” the disappointment in his voice tugged at your heart and punched you in the gut simultaneously. The guilt hanging in your chest was barely justified, given this was one large misunderstanding, but the look on Nolan’s face was enough to have your shoulders falling.
“Nolan, it’s not-”
“My best fucking friend? Of all people you had to choose him?” his eyes were wide and glued to yours, anger mixing with disgust in the back of his mind. He couldn’t believe you’d do this to him.
“Pat, you don’t understand-”
“Fuck you.” Nolan spoke slowly and clearly, shooting Travis the sharpest glare he could produce. His voice sent a chill down your spine, unsure if you had ever heard him speak with such malice. “Both of you.”
Nolan spun on the balls of his feet and left the room, but you didn’t let him get far before you were following him. You tugged the shirt over your head, not even bothering to turn back to Travis to apologize before you were running after Nolan, calling his name down the hallway.
“Nolan, please-”
“I don’t want to hear it, honestly.” he threw over his shoulder, but you weren’t accepting that. You weren’t going to let him walk away right now, not when you didn’t do anything wrong.
“Just listen to me!” you stopped walking, stopped running. You stood in the middle of a hallway that had pictures lining the walls around you. Smiling faces and cheery laughs suffocated you in a time where you stood toe to toe with your best friend, the same one who was looking down at you like he’d never known you. “You don’t get to assume things and just walk away!”
“Yeah, well you don’t get to come out here after not seeing me for six months and sleep with my best friend! You don’t get to do that to me! You don’t get to use me to sleep with professional athletes.” any words you had swimming through your mind halted at his accusation. They fizzled out, unable to produce a coherent thought after you heard your best friend accuse you of using him.
“After all this time, you think i’m using you? You think that I came here to sleep with Travis?”
“You want to know what I think? I think you’ve always used me. You used me to escape your awful boyfriend in high school and you used me to leave home when things got bad. You used me to get over your shitty boyfriend when he left you in the fucking dust and here you are now, using me to sleep with my best fucking friend.” you were in shock, lips parted and throat constricting as you tried to let his words sit.
“If you wanted to whore yourself out to NHL players, you should’ve just said so, puck bunny.” The nickname weighed heavily in your chest, bringing you back to a time where Nolan went on and on about how much puck bunnies got under his skin. It brought you back to a time when Nolan would never call you that, would never even put you and the name in the same conversation.
“Patty!” Nolan’s eyes left yours, casting over your shoulder and locking with another pair that he might have been more furious at. Sure, he was angry at you. He couldn’t believe you’d do something like this, not after growing up with him just a few houses down. He couldn’t believe you’d stoop this low, but Travis? Travis knew how Nolan felt about you. Even if he didn’t admit it, even if he’d never say that was all true, Travis knew. He knew better than anyone how Nolan felt, and that made it all the more worse.
“Don’t talk to her like that.” you bit down on your bottom lip, hard enough to sting slightly but you couldn’t look away from where your eye level left you. You couldn’t look up at Nolan, not when he was this angry at you, and you surely couldn’t look at Travis. You knew that’d only make things worse.
“Now you get to tell me how to talk to her? Does that mean the two of you are a thing now? That’s funny, seeing as you have a girlfriend, Teeks. Didn’t know you were into home wrecking, y/n.”
“Fuck you.” you spoke softly, not even sure if he had heard you before he looked down at you with a puzzled look stretched across his face.
“So I can pick up TK’s sloppy seconds? No thanks, angel.” you shoved him then, shoved him hard. He didn’t move much due to the way his feet dug into the ground and he had muscle on you, but you got your point across by the force delivered to his chest.
“You’re a dick, you know that? You walk into a room and think you know everything that’s going on, but you don’t, okay? You don’t know what happens when you’re gone. You don’t know what happened in there or what happens at home when you’re here. You don’t know anything, okay?”
“That’s bold, given that I just walked in on you topless, seconds away from kissing my best friend, y/n-”
“Is there a reason you feel the need to keep reminding me that Travis is your best friend?”
“Because I need you to know that you’re not.”
The world titled on its axis then, the rude awakening you’d walked into becoming all too much for you to handle. With the realization that Nolan wanted nothing to do with you, you nodded once and walked around him so you could leave. It was only then that you noticed the audience you’d gathered, the better half of the Flyers roster circled around the room with a few of their significant others. You flashed everyone a pained smile and thanked Claude and Ryanne for inviting you before leaving the house.
You weren’t even down the driveway when your lungs gave way, gasping for air while tears streamed down your cheeks. Your heart hurt and your stomach turned, and you knew it was going to be a long night.
“You really are a dick.” Travis was going to walk past him, was going to avoid the lot of people and follow you outside. He knew you didn’t know where you were, nor did you have a way to get to or from anywhere else. You could order an uber to Nolan’s, but then what? Kevin might let you into the apartment but where would you stay? On the couch in a living room you weren’t welcome in? Not likely.
“I’m the dick? You know how I feel about her!”
“Nothing happened!”
“Bullshit, TK! I know that look on your face and I know that she sure as hell looked embarrassed-”
“I spilt wine on her shirt, you fucking idiot! I knocked into her when we were in the kitchen and I made her entire glass of wine spill down the front of her shirt, so I went to get her another one. I didn’t want her to sit in a soaking wet, stained shirt for the rest of the night so I went to get her another.”
“And she changed in front of you because-?”
“Because she was drunk and knew I wouldn’t make a move on her. Because she knows that I respect you and care about you far more than I care about making a move on her. I don’t look at her that way, Pat. You know I would never do that to you.” Nolan sucked on his teeth then, casting his eyes away from Travis’s and looking down at his feet.
“Do I?” Travis scoffed then, not bothering to give Nolan a response before walking past everybody else and out to his car.
After a few minutes of driving around, he found you at the park just down the street, leaning against the chain that supported the swing you sat on. He couldn’t see your tears from his car, but he could see the way you flinched when he shut the car door behind him.
“You okay?” you shook your head, eyes filled to the brim with tears that blurred your vision and broke Travis’s heart.
“I’m in love with him, Teeks. I love him more than anything in this entire world and he thinks I’m using him. He t-thinks- he thinks I-”
“Hey, it’s okay.” Travis pulled you onto your feet and into his chest, wrapping his arms tightly around you in order to attempt to calm you down.
“He thinks-” your sobs rang through the air, piercing through Travis’s heart and resulting in him squeezing you tighter, letting you get all of it out while no one else was around.
“He doesn’t think that. He knows you’re not using him, he just can’t bear to think about you with anybody other than him.” you shook your head, not allowing yourself to believe Travis, even though he knew Nolan pretty well. If there was anything to know about Nolan, you or Travis would know about it.
“He loves you, okay? He loves you more than he knows how to handle and he can’t handle losing you before he’s even had you.” you flinched when a car backfired, jumping inches off of the ground and making Travis laugh gently from beside you when you let out a shaky breath of relief.
Your eyes found the familiar car drive by, slowing down the slightest bit by the park only to take off towards the entrance of the neighborhood quite quickly. You knew it was Nolan, you knew that car by heart.
You ended up on Travis’s couch the night, wrapped in a warm pair of sweatpants that Travis threw in the dryer for you before giving them to you. You tied the drawstring in a tight knot so they’d stay up and pulled on a hoodie that he offered to you shortly after. He listened to you reminisce on all of the memories you had with Nolan. He learned more about his best friend and who he was growing up, but also learned a fair amount about you as well.
He felt for you. He couldn’t believe Nolan said all of those things to you, but he also knew that Nolan must not be doing well right now. He texted Kevin when he got back to his apartment, saying that you were safe with him, and that he’d text Nolan but didn’t for obvious reasons. Kevin assured Travis he’d let Nolan know you were safe, despite Nolan not asking about your well being. Not that he hadn’t thought about it, but he figured if he asked he’d be left with a less than likable answer.
Nolan didn’t sleep well that night, replaying how bad he fucked up over and over again in his mind. He didn’t believe you at first, didn’t even believe Travis when he told him what truly happened. He did, however, believe his captain when he said that Travis asked him for a shirt for you just a few minutes before it all happened. Ryanne brought out your wine soaked shirt after the two of you had left, and despite Nolan coming to terms with the fact that he was wrong, he couldn’t forgive himself for the things he said to you.
He couldn’t believe he accused you of it all before going on to accuse you of using him for your benefit. He knew it was stupid, since you’d been around far before the NHL. you were there when he got drafted, you were there when he was named captain of the Wheat Kings, and you were there when he almost quit hockey when he was younger. He remembered having you by his side through everything growing up and even now, even while living so far away from each other. If he called, you answered. If he needed help, you helped him. Hockey had nothing to do with that.
He looked down at the butterfly on his thigh, the one that took residence right beside another one of his tattoos, one that he had to keep hidden from you for well over two years now. He traced his finger over the small image, let his mind wander over all the possibilities of where yours could be if you had a snake somewhere inked into your skin. It’s a thought he often had, wondering where you’d want it, if you’d want it.
By the time Nolan came to his senses, it was too late. He’d already gotten through an entire practice and by the time he got back, by the time he got home, he realized you were gone. Your things that were piled into a corner of his room were gone. The jersey he’d given you for the game against the pens was folded up nicely on the pillow of his bed and a sticky note with your unmistakeable handwriting on it left a hole in his chest.
I’m sorry I ever made you doubt me.
He couldn’t reach for his phone fast enough, couldn’t call you enough times to break your voicemail box. He called Travis, pained to hear that you were already on a flight back to Winnipeg. He wanted to leave, wanted to drive to the airport right this second and catch a flight back home to tell you he’s incredibly sorry, but he couldn’t. He had a roadie in a few days and a game tomorrow night and he couldn’t just leave.
He did his best to contact you, tried to call every person in your family and was disappointed every time. Even when both of his sisters sat down and called him to collectively tell him that he was the biggest idiot either of them had ever met. Nobody could believe Nolan blew you off like that, not even Nolan himself.
He knew he fucked up, but he hadn’t realized how bad he fucked things up until one of your friends from back home posted a picture of you on social media a few months later. It had been at least four months since he’d spoken to you, since he saw you. It had been too long of him having nothing but the sliver of content he got from social media. He hated that his friends had chosen your side in the thick of it all, though he guessed it was easier to do that with him in Philadelphia and the rest of you in the same place.
But it wasn’t until a picture of you with a wide smile and a new bathing suit popped up on his phone that he knew the true weight of the situation in front of him. There you were, in a baby blue bathing suit that showed the same shape between your breasts that he’d grown up with beside his ankle. His tattoo was committed to memory, ingrained into his brain with no room to forget about it, especially when he saw it on you, etched into your skin the same way it had been etched into his.
He thought back to the paper airplane on your shoulder, the mark that had haunted him for years. He hated your boyfriend, hated the sight of his tattoo on your skin. He hated everything that had to do with the sheer thought of you with somebody else, even if he didn’t know how to deal with that. And now, with his thumb sitting on the butterfly on his thigh and his eyes on the snake on your sternum, he knew he had to fix this. He knew he had to fix things because these tattoos, though permanent themselves, didn’t guarantee him a life as your boyfriend, nor your husband.
Nolan remembered a time when he thought these tattoos were stupid. He remembered when he thought it was a thing for soulmates and you told him that thought was wrong, that it just reminded you of a love you felt, even if it was eventually lost. He remembers you telling him that you were scared you’d never be loved forever, that you were scared to only be loved momentarily.
But that wasn’t the case. Nolan would never stop loving you. He couldn’t forget about the way your laugh brightened his day without question, or the way your nose scrunched when you laughed. He couldn’t forget about the way you bugged him for ice cream on a bad day, or how good you looked with his name and number stretched across your back.
He couldn’t remember a day he wasn’t in love with you.
So Nolan flew to Winnipeg the second the Flyers’ season was over. He didn’t bask in getting knocked out of the playoffs like some of the other guys, didn’t dwell on the loss in the sixth game of the series because he couldn’t. He couldn’t dwell on a loss when he was so focused on trying to prevent a second one.
He had called everybody he could think of once he got off the plane. Some didn’t answer, some didn’t know the answer to his question, and some just flat out refused to humor him. You weren’t home, he knew that much by the absence of your car in the driveway and your sister telling him that you weren’t there, and that she wouldn’t let him inside even if you were. It wasn’t until he rounded a familiar corner after a phone call he’d been thankful for.
Jordan told him where you were, unable to lie to his childhood friend when you were hanging out with everyone. You were wearing a bathing suit again, though it didn’t matter for a while. The sun was high in the air and you weren’t the only that had shed yourself of your coverup earlier in the afternoon. You were playing basketball with Jordan, oblivious to the fact that he’d given you up just ten minutes prior to the gate door swinging open and Nolan letting himself into the backyard.
Your eyes found him easily, as if he was a magnet you could never repel. Your shoulders fell for a moment, your instinct of wanting to comfort him seeping in before you could tell it not to. Of course you kept up with his team, watching every game you possibly could until the very last one. You knew he’d been knocked out of the playoff less than 48 hours ago, and you had no idea he was coming home.
You hadn’t realized the weight of the situation until you noticed his eyes locked in on your chest. You folded your arms over your chest in an attempt to cover the snake, but it didn’t make Nolan look anywhere else.
“Who told you I was here?” your voice was soft. You knew he didn’t drive around the entire town looking for your car, though you weren’t sure it was something too far out of his reach. Nolan would do just about anything to get something if he wanted it bad enough.
“Bo did.” you glared at the boy not far from you, the one that you shouldn’t have trusted with something like this in the first place. You should’ve known Jordan would do something like this.
“Patty, what the fuck?”
“Just shut up, Bo.” Jordan rolled his eyes and tossed the basketball to Nolan who smacked it away and into the grass.
“Well, I don’t want to talk to you.” you tried to stand your ground, even with Jordan giggling to himself before walking over to your friends not too far from where you currently stood.
“Just give me five minutes.”
Nolan’s eyes bore into yours, the same pair of bright blue eyes that you had been avoiding for months. You wanted to answer every call and every text, but how could you? How could you pick up the phone and listen to his voice through the speaker after all he’d said to you in front of his entire team. And then on top of it all, he left you stranded in Philly, in the middle of a city, country even, where you had nobody to turn to and nowhere to go.
“I know you don’t want to talk to me-”
“Then leave, Nols.” he shook his head, taking a step towards you. “I don’t want to talk to you.”
“I know I hurt you-”
“You’re right! You hurt me! You hurt me so bad Nolan and I can’t go through that again so if you’re here to let history repeat itself, then can you just go?” he shook his head, firmly planting his feet into the ground and refusing to move.
“I know you don’t want to see me or listen to me or give me the benefit of the doubt but I need you to hear me out.” you sighed, letting your arms fall to your side. You weren’t sure how he seemingly broke down all of your walls without even lifting a finger. You watched his eyes flick down to the image on your chest, you even let him raise a finger once he stood in front of you and trace the shape of the snake. “It suits you, y’know?”
“Did you really come all this way to tell me that this suits me?” there was a hint of amusement in your voice, enough of it to bring a smile to Nolan’s lips.
“I know I fucked up-”
“Big time.” you cut him off, shooting him a gentle smile and nod that told you you’d stop interrupting him. “Sorry, continue.”
“I know I fucked up and I said a lot of shit I didn’t mean and that’s not an excuse but- look, I know i shouldn’t have said all of that shit. I should’ve believed the two of you. I should’ve believed you when you told me nothing happened and I shouldn’t have said you were using me. I know you’re not using me. There was no way you could’ve known that I was going to be in the NHL, and you wouldn’t have stuck around all this time just to be a puck bunny.”
It wasn’t like you to forgive all that easily. You drew lines in the sand and refused to let someone fuck you over twice. You weren’t big on second chances, especially when you thought people didn’t deserve them. You were a straight shooter, no bullshit. But those walls cracked for Nolan, they fell for Nolan. None of your boundaries were drawn in place with Nolan in mind. He had broken down every wall, overstepped every boundary since the day he met you. You couldn’t block him out, couldn’t lead him out of your life.
As much as you hated to admit it, you needed Nolan Patrick. You were in love with Nolan Patrick.
And the little butterfly on his thigh told you that he loved you all the same.
Your lips turned up at the sight, your eyes locked in on the place where his shorts had ridden up and the small image danced happily on his skin.
“How long have you had that?” you pointed down at it, barely noticing the way his eyes stayed trained on you through the entirety of the situation. You were looking at his tattoo, but he was looking at you. He was always looking at you, which only made it that much more surprising that he hadn’t picked up on the snake on your chest.
“Since before I got drafted.” he spoke softly, hitting you with a force you didn’t know existed. You were floored by the realization, somewhat thinking that he’d only had it for a small bit of time. You’d seen his thighs, seen his tattoos and you’d never seen the small butterfly etched into his skin.
“How long have you had that?” his finger traced over the snake one more time, sending a chill down your spine that you had felt more times than you could count when you were around Nolan. It was a feeling that was never expected but always welcome.
“Draft day.” you breathed out, feeling the weight of the world lift off of your shoulders. You were finally admitting it, finally letting the love of your life know just how long you’ve been a mess for him. Little did you know how much of a mess he was for you.
“I’m so sorry, y/n.”
“It’s okay.” you spoke softly, a smile gracing your lips at the realization that things were falling back into place, even after all this time of not talking to him.
“It’s okay?” you nodded, taking another step toward him so you were chest to chest.
“As long as you don’t fuck it up again.” he let out a small laugh, his hands finding the sides of your face just before pressing his lips to yours.
“I wouldn’t dream of it.”

Chapter 0ne
“And so it begins”
Katsuki B. X Reader
Rated M
Warnings: Gaslighting, manipulation, power play, light degradation
The day before the two of you left for UA; Your best friend gave her word to your mother that she would always look after you. Now that the two of you are in your third year she’s officially FED UP with your attitude and childish antics. Mentioning her dilemma to your shared group of friends results in the most unlikely person offering to be her solution to the problem that is YOU.
A/N: The girl in the banner is NOT how the reader is “supposed” to look, it was just a drawing I did specifically for this. You look however you want to, I don’t really make any specific references to your appearance in this story.
🌅
Its Saturday morning; Ive been awake for about five minutes now, but I’m not ready to open my eyes and embrace the conscious world just yet. Hearing the door of my room unlock and open does the trick though. Only one person (other than myself of course) has a key to my dorm room.
“I made breakfast for the both of us, its your favorite” announces Euphie as she walks in, kicking the door shut behind her. I sit up, just as she’s pushing my black out curtains to the side I let out a hiss of disdain as sunlight immediately begins to permeate the room.
“Thank you Euphie” I say with a yawn.
She hands me a plate before settling down on my bed, acknowledging my thanks with a nod as we both tuck in.
“We have plans this afternoon, can you be ready by at least 12:30? No need to get super made up but at least out of your pajamas?” Euphies voice is gentle, but I catch the underlying “I’m not asking, but telling you” vibe she tries to hide.
“For sure”
She smiles at my seemingly agreeable mood so early in the morning and we easily segway into our standard start of the day discussions. “Are we um…Are we going to be busy all day? I….I kinda planned on going to hangout with-“ Euphie cuts me off as she picks up our plates: “No worries you’ll have plenty of time for that, I promise!” Giving me a wink before shutting my door.
She didn’t even know who I was referring to, or what I was going to say….
At 12:55 Euphie reappears to rush me out of my room.
“Hey I forgot my purse I-“
“Don’t need it”
“But my wallet is-“
“Not necessary”
Her tone is clipped, and she has a death grip on my wrist as she quite literally drags me down the hallway. Initially I was taken aback, not being used to receiving this type of treatment from her. My bearings have started returning along with growing frustration each time one of my questions are receiving one word answers, or met with a complete dismissal. Reaching my limit I fail to notice that she’d began to slow down, and I’m wrenching my wrist free of her grip at the exact same time she’d come to a stop.
“What in the fuck is your problem?! You told me that we had plans to go out this afternoon, and you’d treat me to whatever I want!
This-“ I’m interrupted again.
“I certainly wouldn’t do anything for a fuckin’ brat throwing a tantrum like this”
My eyes snap to the side where I see the irritated scowl of one Katsuki Bakugou, as he leans against his door frame glowering at me. Embarrassment further fuels my anger as I turn toward him, pointing an acusatory finger as I begin “No one fucking asked you, stay out of it Katsu-“.
Kirishima suddenly emerges from Bakugo’s room, giving Euphie an enthusastic greeting
“Hey there! You look nice, ready to head out?”. The red head is flashing his signature shark toothed grip at my best friend as he offers her his arm. “You know it” she giggles, taking hold of his muscular bicep. The two of them start to walk off, confused and furious I start to head after them, but a large hand grips my shoulder grounding me in place.
“Bakugo told me he wouldn’t mind keeping an eye on you while Kiri and I went out this afternoon, this way you’ll stay out of trouble and get to keep the plans you’d made with him, bye!” The closing elevator doors add a sudden finalization to her brief explanation.
“Plans?” Bakugo questions while uncermoniously yanking me backwards.
I stumble back, falling through the doorway and landing flat on my ass in front of the now closed door (Which he is standing in front of). Glaring up at him as he continues: “She must have me confused with the local brothel, because thats the only place I’d imagine wearing a skirt as short as that would be deemed appropriate”. His insult doesn’t deter his crimson eyes from roaming the length of my body, lingering on the aforementioned skirt. Getting to my feet, he walks around me and move towards his desk, taking a seat behind it.
“Oh fuck you Katsuki, you can be a real dick sometimes, I dunno what stupid Euphie told you about keeping and eye on me, but I dont need a fucking baby sitter! So ill be off now” with a huff you turn towards the door. “________, I’m not in the mood for bullshit today so just sit down and shut up” he growls, not turning to look at you. He always feels embarrassingly giddy when you adress him by his first name, thats why he insisted you call him by it. That in itself should be an indication of how he seems to favor you.
It makes him almost feel a bit guilty for using a harsh tone when he’d spoken to you. Despite how he treats others, Katsuki is hardly ever outright mean to you; He’s never even given you a derogatory nickname like he has for everyone else. Today’s an off day though…He’s just not used to running on little to no sleep. That paired with his already non existent level of patience makes for a blow up. Especially when YOU were the cause of his latest bout of insomnia….turning to look at you has his thoughts beginning to wander.
Those lips of yours flapping away as you berate him…
They sure would look a helluva lot better wrapped around his-
“-Not even fucking listening to me are you?!” You snarl, starting towards the door again. “I cant believe I woke up this morning wanting to hangout with YOU, guess I’ll change my plans and hangout with someone not so shitty to me…. Like Deku!” A loud crash comes from behind you. The now enraged man had stood up so abruptly, it sent his now vacated chair careening into the wall and toppling over.
“You really just cant help yourself can you?”
His voice is so eerily quiet as he turns to face you, something unidentifiable flashes in his rapidly darkening crimson orbs. You couldn’t exactly identify it, considering it disappeared as abruptly as it had originally came.
“Course you cant, I already know that”
A menacing smile appears on his face as he takes his first step toward you, immediately triggering your natural “Fight or flight” response.
“I know what you need”
He’s only an arms length away when you start to step back.
“You dont know shit”
You somehow summon the courage to speak, but are unable to summon any false bravado to keep you from betraying how unnerved he’s got you feeling as he takes another step.
“I know that your best friend cant stand what a spoiled fuckin’ brat you’ve become, I know she’s so fed up with your shit that she’s about to write you off completely”
The defiant expression you’d worn all this time finally starts to falter.
This marks the first time Katsuki has ever seen how you look when your confidence begins to ebb away, only to be replaced with a mixture of uncertainty and fear.
His sadistic side emerges with glee as your now saddened doe eyes meet his.
“You’re constantly disregarding everyone’s opinion of you unless it aligns with your own, but you dont even know what to think of yourself now that your faced with the possibility of being alone now…do you?
You remain silent, taking yet another step back as he continues speaking.
“You need someone who isn’t afraid to correct you, but they’ll have to of earned your respect….So when you inevitably step out of line, you wont put up a fight when you get put over their knee”
Your back hits the wall.
You swallow down the panic that slowly begun to rise from your chest up into your throat as you realize there is nowhere left for you to go.
“You desperately want to be a good girl, just dont know how to be one, huh princess?”
It’s so adorable the way your bottom lip juts out, but at the first quiver it quickly gets sucked between your teeth.
“That’s why you’re acting out right now isn’t it?
I bet you drench your cute little panties every time you get a rise out of me. Always hoping that its going to be the time I yank you the fuck up and put this brat in her goddamn place, hah?”
You shamelessly lean into the large hand thats now cupping your cheek, letting out a sigh as his thumb caresses your soft skin.
“Mhmmm”
It’s horrifying how easily you just admitted your most guarded secret! The triumphant smirk he sports makes it even harder to accept.
His tone is surprisingly gentle when he starts addressing you once again;
“I can do that for you baby….Let me be the one that finally brings the princess down on her knees”.
Your eyes are practically sparkling at the feel of a sudden pressure being applied to your throat. His calloused fingers squeezing the delicate skin of your neck, effectively making it harder and harder for you to breathe. The thrill of this foreign feeling is instantly addicting.
“Tell me if thats what you want: If its not then shake your head and we never speak of this again”
Bakugo has to at least give the illusion that you have a choice in the matter. Even though its more than obvious that you need want this just as much as he does.
“I want it, I want you” your words come out in a breathy whisper as he releases his hold on your throat.
“I wanna hear you say it princess, what do you want me to do with you”
“I want…no I NEED you to….t-to make me into your good girl please…”
He gestures for you to continue, his raised brow implying you must be forgetting something.
“Please make me into your good girl….Daddy”
The pleading expression and twinge of desperation in your voice stirs something deep inside Bakugo. It was something akin to the last vestiges of some ancient seal had disappeared: The monster that it had rendered dormant had finally roused from its slumber, intent on wreaking havoc.
“You do understand that you’re mine now right ________? Every part of your being belongs solely to me”
Gorgeous ruby eyes scrutinize your face carefully, searching for a single trace of fear, uncertainty, or possible apprehension. All they found was admiration and girlish excitement, and this earned you a genuine smile from the almost always scowling young man.
“Yes, every part of me belongs to you now Katsuki”
“Better get used to this then”
Before you could inquire what he was referring to, he was kissing you.

You sent them in in the right timing, don’t worry.
Tw: Yandere themes, unhealthy relationship, unhealthy mindset, possessiveness, obsessiveness, bipolar behavior, chocking, screaming, pushing, violence, vicious behavior
Prompt 109: “I know she’s cute. BUT SHE’S MINE! TOUCH HER AND I’LL KILL YOU!!”
Tumblr media
The air had had turned all so sudden so incredibly suffocating, way more than you had ever expected it to be. And given the fact that you had experienced something like this already so often, way too often, it led your lips to wobble and your knees to nearly give in. All you really could do in that moment was staring with wide and teary eyes at the purple-haired boy who was just standing in the doorframe, a weirdly unreadable expression on his face. It made all the nerves in your body go crazy. This wasn't good. He was quiet! Way too quiet for his character. There was no rage, no anger nothing in his eyes. Why was he so emotionless? Shouldn't he be yelling, screaming, hurting someone right now?
Chances were that he would let his ire out on you, something you were terrified off. You hadn't forgotten the last time you had left him unsatisfied and jealous. Your body hadn't forgotten it either, the bruises still not fully healed. Backing away wasn't a good idea either or else you would bump into his brother Ayato. Both were currently doing some sort of glaring contest, Ayato having narrowed his eyes in an annoyed manner and Kanato still having this frightening hollow and penetrating look in them. And you poor victim found yourself stuck between those two, feeling like you were just dust right now since no one of them was currently even noticing your presence. But you didn't dare to move, if you were honest you couldn't even. Your body was neglecting you the ability to move, your instincts clearly stopping you from pulling the attention back on you.
The fact that no one had said anything for a while was even more nerve wrecking, it made it harder to judge what they would do next. All you could suspect was that they might just start attacking each other without you even having time to react. It was so unbelievably silent that you could hear everything right now, thw wind blowing outside the window, the slight breathing of Ayato and Kanato and most of all your own heartbeat which was drumming like crazy against your chest. Could they hear it as well? In your opinion it was painfully loud, but it seemed they were busy with other things.
"That's ridiculous! (y/n), come over here. Now!", you flinched when you heard Ayato speaking for what felt like the first time in ages up, shifting with a weak heart around to him. He didn't even bother to spare you a look, he just continued to glare at his brother, clearly bothered with what Kanato had just said to him. You knew that both of them weren't guys to share, no one from those six was. But if you had to share the ones who were the baddest to deal with, you would give the trophy without a doubt to the triplets, all of them were horrible beings. But for you Kanato had always been the worst. He was incredibly dangerous, more than Ayato, more than Laito.
You just couldn't judge him and that made you feel scared. You never knew how he would react to this or that, if his reaction would be a positive one, if you could call him being bratty and annoying positive, or a bad one, the kind of reaction where he started shouting at you, grabbed you by your throat and pushed you around like you were some ragdoll. He was unhinged, unstable and for that you had never been able to understand him and his way of thinking. He was unpredictable, a joker. With Ayato and Laito you had at least a bit of an easier time to forsee their actions.
But you were scared of them as well, making you hesitate when you heard his demanding tone. Your throat had gone dry, your palms having become disgustingly sweaty so that you started to wipe them on the fabric on your clothes. Should you go to him? But what would Kanato do if you would? On the other hand, what would Ayato do if you wouldn't? "(y/n)." When you heard Kanato's voice, you instantly turned around, an unpleasant feeling creeping up your spine when hearing his voice. It had been a lot less harsh and loud like Ayato's voice had sounded like, but it had this certain something in it that would have managed to give people far less cowardly than you the chills.
You were met with dull purple eyes, a hidden insanity hidden inside of them that made you unconsciously step back a bit, noticed instantly by Kanato judging from the way his eyes shifted to your legs. And he didn't seem to like it one bit, pressing Teddy slightly tighter against his chest. "Y-you aren't trying to leave me for him, do you?"His voice was wavering, you as well as Ayato slowly seeing his hollow facade crumbling. It was an alarming thing to see, making you almost instantly step closer to him, fear taking control over your body, not wanting to anger him.
But this small action led to an instant small enragement from the red-haired boy. "What do you think you're doing, small pancake? Get back here this instant! You belong to Yours Truly!" You froze, mind being torn apart between listening to him or Kanato. "(y/n)." Kanato had stretched his hand out a bit, holding it in your direction. On the first glance it might have looked like a silent plead. But it wasn't the feeling you were getting from him. You could sense it in his eyes. It was a silent ordre, a clear warning to not even think about turning around, to not abandon him for his brother. Or else...
You heard Ayato tsk'ing, clearly getting majorly annoyed with you and the situation. "Stupid thing. Do you seriously think that he can keep you safe from me? Do you think I didn't notice how you keep lingering near him and start avoiding others? Don't tell me you're listening to him now because you're afraid of him." You tensed up when you heard him stepping closer to you, gaze being frozen on the ground. "You're scared, aren't you?" Another step closer, followed by another. How close was he by now?
You got your answer the moment you felt hair brushing against your cheeks, Ayato's face entering from the corner of your eyes your vision. "Do you expect me to care whether you're scared or not? The only reason you were brought here was to serve as a bloodbag, nothing more. You don't get to choose with whom you can stay or not. You don't have any power. I on the other hand have the right to decide over you. And if pain is really the way to make you submissive and obedient, I can give you that even better than he can. You're after all very cute when your face is scrunched up in pain. Should I show you?
You couldn't help tears falling down your face when you suddenly felt his hand wrapping around your throat, starting to squeeze it tightly and causing you to choke on the air. You felt nauseous the moment you saw the grin on his face obviously loving what he was seeing. "See? I can give you just what Kanato gives you all the time. You must like it if you stick close to him for that reason, right? I can make sure that you'll look even cuter when in pain. All for my eyes."
"I know she's cute." You turned your gaze through half-closed eyes to Kanato who was looking at you two with wide eyes, many emotions swimming in them. Ayato looked at him as well, clearly unimpressed by him. "So what?" He gave Kanato a slightly challenging look, pulling you with the hand wrapped around your throat closer to him, making you start seeing black spots.
"BUT SHE'S MINE!" The outburst was all so sudden that it catched you as well as Ayato by surprise, Kanato suddenly appearing right in front of you two, ripping Ayato's hand in a way away that made you fear he might twist your neck in the process and shoved you harshly aside. Your ass was met with the hard ground, making you twist your face a bit when you landed wrongly and started coughing, air suddenly filling your lungs again. "TOUCH HER AND I'LL KILL YOU!!"
You weren't surprised that Kanato hadn't been concerned the least bit about whether he would hurt you or not, having gripped Ayato's clothes and shaking him violently to which Ayato on the other hand tried to free himself, his hands pulling on Kanato's arms in an attempt to make him let go. You slowly crawled away from them, not wanting to risk getting caught in the fight. You better stayed away, especially from Kanato, he looked like he was seriously about to kill Ayato. His one hand had by now been placed right above the boy's throat, threatening to crush his neck at any moment. And Ayato seemed to sense the same thing, looking all of a sudden a bit stressed out.
"Fine then! Giving it a second thought, she's more boring anyways! You can keep that pathetic girl for yourself! She isn't worth all the troubles!" He jerked backwards, making Kanato lose hold on him, stumbling a bit clumsily back before straightening himself up. He turned around, shooting you a sharp glare before leaving that clearly told you that this had been your fault. Ayato hated losing to others. You had this nagging fear that he might try something later on. But you also knew that this was currently the smaller of the two problems.
"You ungrateful bitch! Why would you let him touch you?!" The second Ayato had completely left the room, you were already yanked upwards by Kanato, who looked wrathfully at you, making you burst out in tears once more. "You would have left me for him, wouldn't you?! Admit it!" You quickly shook your head, fearing that he might break your hands if he would add a bit more pressure. "I-I would never. I promise. I don't-don't plan on ever leaving you."
He stared intensely at you, obviously trying to judge whether you were telling the truth or not. The look in his eyes was fearsome, he had unleashed all his unstableness he had kept hidden before. "...I don't believe you."
A huge smile made it's way on his face, one that wasn't comforting at all. It was too big, looking like his mouth was hurting. Next to that it didn't reach his eyes and looked terribly fake to the extent that you felt bill raising up your throat.
"You're a liar. I don't like when people lie to me. And if someone lies, they have to be punished. That's what my mother always used to do to us when we were little." The next thing you knew was a mindbreaking pain filling all your senses.

Pokemon Mystery Dungeon: Seekers of Soul
Chapter 16 (18 Pages)
<< First | < Previous | Next >
Nia spends time with Xander’s team, learning more about aura in the process.
 -
Nia yawns, finally giving up on her book for today and slipping a furret bookmark that Maggie had given her between the pages. No matter how hard Nia tries to focus on the words about different types of Pokémon evolution, the sentences are starting to blur and jumble before her eyes, so she figures it’s time to give it a rest.
She looks up at the two Pokemon lying a few feet away on a mossy rug, comfortably sprawled out in Xander’s team quarters. The luxio and his wartortle partner are playing some sort of game with dice-like stones. Felix is clearly losing, his fluffy ears twitching as he grumbles under his breath. Xander’s cat-like face is smug with victory, his tail flicking side to side with lazy patience.
Avery is sitting at Nia’s side, the two of them relaxing back against the wooden wall on a bed of straw and moss. Nia doesn’t want to disrupt the kirlia’s concentration as they focus on their own book, but the atmosphere is so peaceful and relaxed, bathed in the warm evening sunlight coming through the lattice window, and she can’t help but feel comfortable enough to speak up.
“Can I ask you guys something?”
All three Pokemon look up, faces open and curious.
“‘Course,” Felix says.
Nia smiles, a little embarrassed. “I know your team is just as busy as ours, if not more so. How are you not, like...exhausted? Literally all the time?”
Xander looks back to the game, laughter in his voice as he responds, “Oh trust me, we are. It used to be worse, before we got used to the job and the demanding work hours.”
“Naps help a lot, when you can manage ‘em,” Felix adds, frowning as he rolls the dice. He’s had horrible luck this whole game. At least, that’s what he’s been saying. Nia still hasn’t quite picked up the rules from watching. “You feeling worn down?”
Nia leans back against the wood of the tree. The bark making up the architecture of the tree is smooth, and thanks to her fur it isn’t even uncomfortable to lean against. She closes her eyes and hums.
“Yeah, I guess.  I know I’ve been here a few weeks, but I think I’m just not used to everything yet.”
“I’ll never get used to waking up so early,” Felix grumbles. “Mornings are suffering.”
Nia laughs. “Actually, that part’s not too bad. It’s more the battling, I think. And just...I dunno, emotional stuff.”
“Mental exhaustion can take a big toll,” Avery says at her side, voice soft. They close their own book to turn their full attention to the conversation.
“I’d be exhausted too if I had Tobias for a partner,” Felix says. He’s clearly teasing, but Nia knows that on some level the wartortle actually means it. “I don’t know how you put up with him every day, Nia.”
Nia’s torn between a laugh and the urge to roll her eyes. She settles on a light tone to match the wartortle’s. “Come on, I told you we worked everything out the other day. He’s trying harder to be nice.”
Felix and Xander both make a doubtful noise.
“I’ll believe it when I see it,” Xander says.
“Well, I think it’s great that Tobias is trying to grow,” Avery says, giving Nia a soft smile.
Nia smiles back and leans forward to watch the boys’ game again, cupping her chin in her hands.
“He’s been really patient with all of my questions since we talked,” Nia says, feeling like she should defend her partner somehow. It’s clear that he’s been trying hard to reign in his temper and be more considerate the last few days, even if he still struggles with it. “When we cleaned out the guild’s food storage this morning, he didn’t even snap at me when I bumped into some shelves and buried us in rice.”
Xander snorts. “That’s called being a decent Pokémon, Nia. Don’t give him too much credit.”
“I’m not! I’m just saying he’s doing better, y’know?”
Felix gives Nia a grin, tilting his head in consideration. “You’re too sweet, ya know that?”
Nia doesn’t know what to say to that, so she blushes under her fur and makes a show of moving her book to her side with a quiet word of thanks.
“Yo! I’m back. Did Felix get whooped yet?”
Nia jumps and looks up to see that Kry has returned from her trip to the cafeteria to find a snack. The dinosaur-like pokemon is munching on an apple as she plops down next to Felix and Xander.
“Hey, I could still win,” Felix protests.
“Ha! Yeah, and bagon can fly.”
“You do know they can fly when they evolve, right?”
“Not anymore, genius! No evolution, no wings!”
Felix deflates and grumbles to himself as he goes back to the game. Nia tilts her head and leans closer to Avery.
“S-Sorry. Uh, what kind of Pokémon is Kry again?”
“A fraxure. Dragon type, middle evolution like the rest of us.”
Nia nods. Right. Fraxure. It certainly looks like the aggressive Pokémon could live up to her name and fracture some bones, from the brief interactions Nia’s seen. Kry’s a bit...rough around the edges. But it’s clear she fits right in with the rest of Xander’s team. Somehow.
“What have you been reading, if you don’t mind me asking?” Avery asks, polite as ever.
Nia shakes herself out of her thoughts. “No, of course I don’t mind!” She holds up the book. “It’s about different kinds of evolution? I still don’t exactly, uh. Get it. As a process. But it’s fascinating to learn about all the different ways it’s triggered.”
Avery tilts their head, looking at Nia with thoughtful consideration. “You don’t understand evolution?”
Nia’s ears flatten. “W-Well, uh, no, but—“
“Does evolution not happen to humans?”
It’s clear that Avery isn’t judging Nia’s confusion, just curious in return. Still, Nia is thankful that they keep their voice hushed.
“N-No, definitely not,” Nia says. “At least, not in the same way? I think? When Pokémon evolve, they change...suddenly, right? Like, Xander used to look like Luca and then he suddenly turned into a luxio?”
Avery hums. “More or less, yes.”
“Is...Is that...how Pokémon grow up, uh...physically? By evolving?”
The kirlia shakes their head, eyes softening into something almost sad. “No. If that were the case we’d all be in danger of dying out, with how Pokemon can no longer evolve. Don’t worry, you’re an adult by Pokémon standards, even as a riolu.”
Nia relaxes at the confirmation. With the way everyone has been treating her, she was pretty sure they’d been seeing her as the adult she felt she was in the human world, but it’s still nice to know for sure.
“Pokemon can stay unevolved forever,” Avery goes on. “They’ll grow larger than a child Pokémon of the same species, though, and physically mature. Their...statures would simply be smaller than if they evolved. Weaker.”
Nia nods. That...makes some sense, in a way. Even with humans, there were grown women who ended up much shorter than some teenage boys. Different statures among the same species.
“Humans don’t ever...change so radically. So suddenly. At least not naturally.”
Avery turns curious eyes onto Nia, so the riolu continues.
“We start out tiny, and then just grow gradually until we reach adulthood. We can change parts of ourselves, of course—darken our skin, cut our hair, change our clothes or our entire style. But...that’s not what evolution is for, right? Aesthetics, individuality? Comfort?”
The kirlia hums. “No. Evolution is typically for...strength, I suppose. Increased speed, strength, defense, sheer size.”
“So for battling?” Nia asks, confusion edging into her voice. She knew that Pokémon were more biologically geared towards fighting, with their toughened defense and incredible healing capabilities, but she also knows that most Pokémon don’t seem to prefer fighting aside from playful battles. At least, not anymore. Now they’re bakers, florists, carvers and artisans. A society.
Maybe Avery understands what Nia’s getting at, because the kirlia looks thoughtful. “There’s a reason so many Pokémon evolve through battling experience and so few from exposure to stones, or travel. Most Pokémon evolve by training themselves and growing stronger. Legends say that Pokémon used to be more...primitive. Less civilized. I believe it used to be less about strength and more about survival.”
Nia watches as Felix tries to creep his hand over the dice to cheat a turn of the stones. Xander, discussing strategies in-depth with Kry, doesn’t even look before batting the turtle’s hand away with a paw. Felix yelps, and Nia giggles.
“Maybe that’s why evolution stopped working?” Nia suggests. “Maybe Pokémon have just...evolved to the point that strength evolution isn’t necessary anymore. You’re a society now, after all. You didn’t need to be physically strong to have a lot of power or be successful in the human world. We have systems, laws, protectors. Technology and weapons. Maybe you’ve just reached a point in society where that changed enough for you guys, too.”
Avery suddenly laughs, tinkling and light. Nia isn’t sure whether to feel happy at the sound or embarrassed that she’d apparently said something stupid. She settles for staring at the kirlia with wide eyes and heated fur.
“Apologies,” Avery says, meeting Nia’s eyes, ruby to ruby. “It wasn’t a stupid thought at all. Fascinating, actually. I was just...struck. By finding such a kindred spirit in you. Xander’s the only one who even tries to humor my philosophical ramblings.”
Nia feels herself relax, and laughs as well. “Two curious souls, huh?”
Avery just smiles, warm and soft.
“What’re you two nerds laughing about?” Kry asks.
Nia looks up to see the other three Pokémon staring at them.
Avery waves their hand in a dismissive motion. “My usual ramblings, Kry. Don’t mind us.”
“Talking about evolution!” Nia adds.
At that, Xander and Felix go back to their game with amused smirks. Kry, however, rolls her eyes. “Why? We can’t evolve anyways.”
“But maybe it could be fixed?” Nia suggests. When Kry turns a doubtful look on her, the riolu shrinks back. “I-I mean, maybe not, but...”
“No harm in discussing it, right?” Avery says.
Kry snorts and goes back to the game. “Guess not.”
Nia relaxes. She knows there’s no reason for Kry to put her on edge, but she just has such a...strong personality. Nia’s become more used to Tobias’ sharp attitude, but Kry? Not so much.
“Would you evolve? If you could?”
Nia blinks and turns to Avery at the unexpected question. “W-What?”
"Would you like to evolve if it were possible?” Avery repeats. Maybe this is a normal question for most Pokémon. Or for their teammates and friends, at least.
“U-Um. I don’t know? Maybe?” Nia flicks her tail into her lap, trying to sound confident. “I mean, it doesn’t really matter much to me, since I’m going back to the human world as soon as I can find a way to return, s-so...”
Avery doesn’t respond aside from a soft sound that Nia can’t quite decipher. She’s too afraid to look at the kirlia’s expression, too scared of seeing the pity or doubt she might find there, so she deflects. “Besides, to evolve I’d have to form an affection, um...”
“Bond?”
“Yeah! An affection bond with someone. And from what I’ve read, that doesn’t seem to mean just a casual friendship.”
Avery nods, eyeing their teammates. “Correct. An affection bond that can lead to evolution only occurs between Pokemon who trust each other with anything. Who see each other as they truly are and would likely die for each other.”
Nia flicks her ear, nervously. “Th-That’s a bit, uh. Extreme.”
Avery laughs lightly under their breath. “Indeed. It’s simply how we tend to describe it. It’s...the deepest form of love, whether platonic or romantic.”
Nia nods, shifting uncomfortably. “Yeah, so...I mean, don’t get me wrong! I’m really glad I met you guys and Andyn’s group and Maggie and, uh, even Tobias, in a weird way. But...”
“You don’t think you’ll ever have that sort of bond with us,” Avery guesses.
Nia flinches. The psychic type’s words aren’t cold or insulted, but it still sounds...harsh.
“Yeah, I guess,” Nia rasps, pulling her knees up to her chest. “It’s just...I’m planning on leaving, you know? I don’t wanna get too close to anyone just to leave us both heartbroken when I go.”
Avery doesn’t answer, but the silence doesn’t feel heavy. Still, Nia rests her chin on her hands, sighing. She wants to go home, nice as it is here, but she still feels bad just leaving these people behind after their kindness.
She’ll miss them.
Maybe Avery picks up on Nia’s mood change, because they turn to the riolu with an encouraging smile. “Xander mentioned that you can read the aura of other Pokemon now. Would you like to try it on me, if it’s not too much strain?”
Nia recognizes the distraction technique, but can’t help feeling grateful for it. She lifts her head, blinking. “R-Really?”
“I’m a psychic type. I know how exciting it is to try out a new mental technique with someone willing.”
Nia straightens up and turns to the kirlia, feeling a smile edge at her lips. It’s not every day she gets to test her aura abilities on someone new! So far she’s only felt Val and Maggie’s auras, and Amani’s blossoming pink during a different training session. “O-Okay. You know it’s pretty, uh…personal, though, right? Like, I’m kind looking at your soul, I think?”
Avery nods with a smile. “I’m aware.”
“J-Just let me know if you want me to stop, okay? I’ll need your hand, though.”
Avery offers a delicate hand.
Nia takes it and closes her eyes, summoning her aura (it gets easier every time she does it!), pouring it down her arm and into her hand, brushing it against the kirlia’s skin to find their aura. When Avery’s silhouette sparks to life behind Nia’s eyes, she laughs. Even without looking deeper towards the core of Avery’s aura, Nia can feel the prickle of their curiosity.
“Your aura’s blue like mine!” Nia explains.
The kirlia laughs too, quietly. “Kindred spirits indeed.”
Nia nods. “Your aura is more of a...purpley-blue, though. Deeper. Kind of indigo.” It feels...serene. Filled with a boundless curiosity and something deeply wise. It’s a dusk sky just as stars begin to shine, a calm evening full of possibilities. It’s actually a little difficult to put her finger on, to interpret the color into a personality, more difficult than it has been so far. Before Nia can go on, Felix’s hushed voice breaks through her concentration.
“That’s so cool!”
Nia jumps, yanking her hand back as the tear drops at her head drop lightly to the collar of fur around her neck. Nia turns to find Xander, Felix, and even Kry sitting close to her and Avery and watching the whole ordeal with fascination.
“Ooh! Can you do me next?” Felix asks excitedly, scooting closer as if she won’t see him there, practically bouncing in his seat.
Xander gives Felix a reprimanding look. “Dude, chill, she might need to rest or something. You know how Avery gets when they’re overworked.”
Before Felix can deflate under the scolding, Nia smiles. “N-No, I can do it, don’t worry. Just give me a second. I’m still learning so it kind of wipes me out, but that’s why I need to practice. You don’t mind me reading your aura? It’s kind of, um. Personal.”
Felix grins at her with shining eyes. “Nah, I don’t mind if it’s not too exhausting for you.”
Nia exchanges an amused look with Avery, then turns her body to Felix. She closes her eyes, holds out her hand for him to take, and then repeats the process of finding her aura, and sending it to where she’s touching the wartortle’s skin.
Felix’s aura flares to life behind Nia’s eyes, and she feels her face drop slack in surprise as the color registers. “Oh. Felix, you’re green.”
The turtle sounds as surprised as his aura feels, the green energy jumping in intensity. “Really?”
“Yeah. Like...a calm, leafy sort of green.” Not calm in the typical sense because the wartortle is certainly not that, but…flexible, she supposes. Purposefully not anxious. Like the changing seasons and the trees that follow them, very go-with-the-flow and easygoing. As unexpectedly sturdy as an oak tree, too. Comforting. It does make sense for the wartortle, in a way, but she has to admit she’s surprised by how deep into his very being his instincts to comfort amuse stabilize go. Oh, he is a very kind soul. A very open, alive soul.
Kry snorts. “Calm. Sure. Clearly you’ve never seen him after being rejected by someone.”
“Hey!” Felix says, indignant.
Nia’s concentration is broken again, and Felix’s hand is yanked away. She blinks back into reality only to sees Kry and Felix play wrestling. Xander rolls his eyes at them, but then looks back at Nia, ears swiveling forward and his brow furrowing with concern. “You okay?”
Oh, she’s breathing harder as her powers take a toll on her. But she doesn’t feel nauseous yet, which must mean she’s getting better! She gives Xander a smile. “I’m fine. This is already leagues better than I was a few days ago! Want me to check your aura, too?”
Xander blinks, exchanging a glance with Avery. Just as Nia’s about to reassure him he doesn’t have to agree, he nods. “You sure you’re okay? I don’t want you to push yourself too hard.”
For a moment, Nia’s thrown by the obvious concern in the luxio’s voice, and her heart squeezes with something fond—
(She said she wasn’t going to make strong friendships here, she can’t, she’s leaving, but—)
—but then she just laughs it off, shaking her head. “N-No, I’m fine. Really.”
Xander looks at her face a moment longer, as if he’s worried she’s lying to him and about to pass out. But then he nods and lifts a paw for her to take.
Nia smiles and closes her eyes, curious despite herself. She’s only known Xander for a couple of weeks, but the more auras that Nia reads the more interesting they become, the more exciting it is to reconcile them with a person’s outward personality. So she reaches out eagerly with her aura, ignoring the strain that she’d just reassured she wasn’t feeling, and nearly recoils in surprise when Xander’s silhouette lights up in a very distinct color. It’s not a deep, protective blue, as she would have guessed, or really any color that she would have predicted.
It’s bright red.
Red, like blood pulsing from a wound, but it doesn’t bring to mind pain or aggression. It’s the blood of a beating heart, it’s the red of passion and emotion, almost too bright in its intensity, almost volatile, and oh, she never would have guessed that this was such an integral part of cool and collected Xander, that he would feel emotions so strongly they hurt. His aura is the blood of a fierce battle, of a pulse pounding away to act, to protect. It’s the red of a heart willing to bleed out before losing those close to him.
A surge of what Nia now recognizes as concern flows through his aura and slams into her like a tidal wave. Nia feels herself physically knocked back from the strength of it, pulling her hands away to catch herself. She snaps back to reality, breathing hard and loud in the quiet of the room, her heart pounding.
Xander is watching her with wide eyes, one paw lifted as if he’d reached out to help but then feared making things worse. Avery is watching her too. The sounds of Kry and Felix’s tussling have stopped.
“Nia? Are you all right?” Avery finally asks, voice soft and level.
Nia swallows hard, her own heart just starting to slow from the overwhelming intensity of Xander’s aura. She looks at the luxio again, and that’s what finally prompts her to pant, “I-I’m fine.”
“Are you sure?” Xander asks. “I didn’t hurt you?”
“Y-Yeah, no, sorry, that was just, uh. Unexpected? You’re red, by the way.” Just saying Xander’s aura is red is the understatement of the century, but how is she supposed to explain what she just felt?
“Red?” Xander echoes, his stiff posture finally starting to relax again. Kry and Felix move closer to listen.
Avery hums. “Interesting. And that means?”
Nia fiddles with the collar of fur around her neck, gaze flicking up to the sun-washed ceiling as she thinks. “W-Well...I’m not sure how good I am at explaining it...”
“Wait, but you said green meant calm, right?” Felix asks. “Isn’t there like...a color cheat sheet or something? Like a list of what each color means?”
“Your green is calm,” Nia corrects. “The colors sort of tell me about someone’s personality and who they are, but I don’t think there’s like...a strict color-code?”
Nia looks to Avery for help, but the kirlia only offers a sympathetic shrug. Oh. Apparently their psychic powers don’t work the same way.
“U-Um. Okay. So for example, my aura is sort of a turquoise blue, but Avery’s is more purple, like a royal blue or indigo. Their aura feels...calmer than mine does, I guess? And Felix, yours is green because you’re so adaptable, like the trees. Very go-with-the-flow, but still sturdy and reliable. Someone else’s aura might be green too but feel super different to me.”
There’s a moment of quiet as they all digest that information, and Nia cringes. “...At least, I think that’s how it works.”
“So what did my aura feel like?” Xander finally asks. “Mine seemed to…affect you differently than the others’ did.”
Nia hesitates, still fiddling with her fur. How does she describe this? “Yours is red, but it’s red like…passion, I guess would be the word. It’s just really emotional? Kind of intense, actually. I’ve never felt someone’s emotions as strongly as I did yours. They kind of swept me away and knocked me right out of my aura state.”
When Nia looks away from the ceiling to gauge the others’ reaction to that, her stomach drops. Xander is staring at her in something close to horror, his fur lifting like a startled cat. She catches Felix shooting Xander a worried look. Wait, what…what happened? She just described his aura to him. Why does he look so upset?
Before the silence can grow too tense, Kry snorts and crosses her arms, apparently tone-deaf to the sudden shift of the room’s mood. “That’s a load of crap. Xander’s the most level-headed one here. Do mine next.”
Nia opens her mouth to say no, watching Xander back away with a gaze like he isn’t totally here. Avery and Felix exchange a concerned look before the kirlia moves to follow the luxio, approaching him with soft words and a hand soothing the spiked fur along his spine.
“Well?” Kry grunts, shifting to cut into Nia’s line of sight.
“W-Wait, Xander—”
“You admittin’ you were wrong?” Kry says, almost like a challenge. “Too afraid to read mine?”
Nia focuses on the fraxure, huffing in irritation. She just upset Xander—and something in her recoils at that thought, already flooded with guilt—and Kry hasn’t even noticed? Fine, if reading Kry’s aura will get her to shut up and move so Nia can check on Xander, she’ll do it. Nia closes her eyes and touches Kry’s open palm. She shoots her aura down her arm and into her paw almost angrily, and Kry’s energy flares to life. Once again, the color that she finds there isn’t quite what she’s expecting.
“You’re…gold,” Nia says. It’s the gold shine of priceless treasure, something proud and hard-fought. But it’s also the gold of armor, of a shield, determined and immovable. Protective. She feels the fraxure’s emotions shift too rapidly for her to catch, but she doesn’t really care too much anyways, with what’s happening to Xander three feet away. Nia pulls back and opens her eyes, meeting Kry’s hard stare with her own.
“So what’s gold mean?”
Nia frowns. “It feels...determined. Proud, I guess. I dunno, I’m not very good at this yet.” Nia’s attention is elsewhere, and she leans past the dinosaur to see Xander, only to find that Xander and Avery have disappeared from the room entirely. Felix meets her panicked gaze with a sad, soothing smile.
“Sorry, Nia, Xander just…had to get some air. Don’t worry, he’ll be fine.”
“Wait, what…what happened?” Nia rasps. “Is Xander okay? He looked...”
Felix and Kry exchange a meaningful look. The wartortle nods, and Kry moves to start cleaning up the game abandoned on the rug a few feet away, completely silent. It’s such a shift from her aggressive prodding moments before that Nia wonders if the fraxure wasn’t as oblivious to Xander’s sudden emotional turn as she thought.
Was Kry distracting her?
“Nia,” Felix says, catching her attention again. He gives her a small smile. “You didn’t do anything wrong. Just…accidentally brought up some unhappy memories for Xander.”
Nia wilts, her heart sinking in her chest. She really likes Xander—she didn’t mean to upset him! Why would learning about his aura have upset him so much? Is this what Val was warning her about, about using her powers responsibly? But she didn’t do it without asking. He wanted to know! Should she have not told him what she saw? But then she would have had to lie to him!
“I didn’t mean to upset him,” Nia whimpers.
Felix’s expression softens. “I know you didn’t. And he does too, don’t worry. But maybe for tonight you should head back to Maggie’s. C’mon, I’ll walk with you.”
Nia opens her mouth to protest—she doesn’t want to just leave without talking to Xander or at least apologizing to him! But Felix is already at the doorway to the hall, beckoning her with a twitch of his fluffy tail. He doesn’t seem angry with her, but it’s clear that he’s nudging her to leave for today. Feeling upset and a lot less proud of her aura abilities, Nia grabs her book and follows him out the door, shuffling up the guild’s stairs and hoping Maggie doesn’t ask her what’s wrong.

a/n: i was going to space these out but i don’t want to disappear and get behind again. so here is a double feature. besides i need to catch up
rqst: i’ll let you choose the prompt but anything for gojo satoru please!
Tumblr media
given his winning personality and other heritable responsibilities, gojo’s longest and closest friend was his right hand. he really has a way of making you feel sorry for him in a kicked puppy kind of way. the majority of his sex drive stems from his bouts of solitude while he cultivated his power. something about curses and exorcisms really manages to keep his gears going. unfortunately, in his single days, with no one to help work off the steam he only had himself to take care of the problem.
exorcising always prioritizes when it comes to burning off the brute intensity of it. not to say he particularly gets off from putting them down, but it's a lot harder to crave anything when he’s too exhausted from a fight. but if it’s been awhile nothing is going to keep sated.
he’s not too prude about his needs, but he’s also not enticed by exhibition. gojo prefers solitude and the comfort of silence in his time of need. the security of a bit of privacy helps to engage his mind properly and build up the right fantasy. though fantasy is put lightly- he’s not very reactive with limited experience. mostly relying on scattered magazines and generalizations to get him to the edge. he’ll be quick and efficient, following his completion with irritated groans about the mess.
gojo is impatient all the time and never bothers with teasing. it is probably why he never learned as much about his own body until he began to share it with you. being with you also gives him a more vivid imagination to carry him over until he can get you back under him again.
the man can easily lose track of time and space when you’re on his mind. the tight clench of his hand around himself is nothing in comparison to what you have to offer, but the echo of your moans helps to play into the part. he’ll take it more slow with you in mind, stroking against his foreskin and pinching to mimic your teeth.
he’s not pissed at you. he's not that kind of lover. you’re welcome to hang out with your friends all night if that’s your shtick. besides it’s not like you knew he would be driven to madness by need. frankly, neither did he. the urge just came out of nowhere, punching him in the gut and crippling him through anything other than the crude circle of his hand around his cock.
gojo didn’t make it far into the room before he’s stumbling into the wall, hands working at his buckles. he’s alone so the walls separating him from the outside are enough.
he makes a face, but spits into his hand anyway, already enjoying the smooth glide it adds as he drags down his length. lube would have been better. messier. sloppier to match your eager mouth but this would have to do. his mind will take care of the rest.
right now- it's you- not his hand tucked between his thighs. his free and grips at his exposed thigh, nimble fingers engaging around the ghost of your hair. he doesn’t really need to guide you, you’re so good at it without instruction. cheeks filled out around his girth, cheeks flush from all the effort it takes to keep the gagging at bay.
in this moment he’s allowed to thrust forward, a low groan leaving his lips as he imagines the wetness of your tears soaking him. his hips roll forward into his hand, knocking into the base of your mouth where you’d managed to take him to the hilt. even this far into your relationship, it takes a bit of effort to get you relaxed enough for it to happen.  it's the one thing he will always be patient for, no matter the wait. something about you having to adapt to him. your own desire to make accommodations for his own pleasure is worth it.
his hips buck harder, taking advantage of this fabricated reality of it all to really push your limits.
fuck- he’s there. he’s so there. you’re too good, so perfect for him. this would be one of the times he would waste his seed in your mouth rather than starve it off to enter you properly first. he’s hazy from the memories- too many of them stroking, biting, sucking at him to keep up with. he’s become so efficient at this that he knows it will only take a few more strokes.
you’d back off at this point, no longer needing full stimulation to get him them. you’re much happier talking him through it as your hand pumps. you beg for him to come for you, and he does.
gojo’s hand is a mess but he’s sliding down the wall rather than rolling to his feet. his head knocks back against the wall a little harder than necessary but he had no energy to complain. the entirety of the day finally catches up with him as he can feel it all weigh down on his shoulders.
as his eyes drift close he makes a promise to himself to wake before you return. it’s unlikely. but maybe you’ll appreciate coming home to him already unwrapped for you.

                                                   -*-
Y/N wishes she could punch Raul’s perfectly aligned teeth and annoying smirk away.
Ever since their mission was announced a couple of days ago, Raul made her work out hard, harder than she’s been doing for a while. It’s not like she was in a bad shape, she couldn’t exactly avoid training being constantly sent on field missions. But since she normally stood on a far safe distance, she didn’t need to run 10 miles everyday on the treadmill or on the streets -which was her best friend’s preferred spot since the terrain was irregular and they had to be alert every single minute so they don’t end up being hit by a car. And that’s precisely what he made her do.
They had to be at work at 8:00 a.m. every day, so Raul picked her up at 5:30 so they could have breakfast before their run, she’d then curse him on the way back to her apartment so they could get ready. He would only laugh at her, promising it would be worth it. Then they’d go into a meeting to discuss final details with the people they picked to form their team. After a long meeting arranging mostly details and cover up stories, they’d go to lunch, only to come back and train using the new gear, shooting and physical fight. The group had to be ready to face pretty much everything imaginable, the risk of this mission was like no other Y/N could remember, so they had to be the best of the best.
So yeah, maybe Raul was just being careful, but she was sure he was only finding new ways to torture her.
That’s why the team consisted on Raul as the captain, or co-captain as she liked to tease, and Y/N as the responsible for the strategy. There was Jack who was picked to be Raul’s right hand on the field, he was an experienced agent and has worked with him on many occasions, meaning their chemistry on the field was great. He was a huge, strong man with the sweetest and kindest heart, always laughing out loud and making jokes around. Then there was Celine. Celine’s past is a mystery no one was able to figure out, at least not yet. She was not a person of many words, always quietly watching everyone and everything, ready to shoot the first one that comes her way. Despite being Daphne’s cousin, who was all soft touches and pastel colors, Celine was brutally honest and even a little blunt, but had a great soul with good intentions, maybe just not the best person skills on the team.
And despite all that, she seemed to like Y/N for some reason, wasn’t the biggest fan of Raul, but she didn’t deny he was a great agent. So Y/N picked her cause she trusted her with her life, knowing she would do anything necessary to finish their mission. And then there was Thomas. Tommy as Raul liked to tease, was a newly turned full agent (three month ago to be precise) and still lacked a bit of that intuition only time and experience could give you, nonetheless he was a suggestion the boss made herself. Thomas was a great agent, with fresh ideas and still a bit naive, but he was quick at thinking, new a lot about tech and was a great field agent high made him a lot more complete than older ones. And with that, the team was closed and all worked out together after lunch until their bodies gave out.
And to make it simple, the beginning was hellish, the end of the week was just like the beginning.
The first day they started training physical combat, she was paired with Celine, which she was sure was attempted murder. Five minutes fighting she was on the floor, unable to move and breathing hard. Raul quickly climbed on the ring, helping her to get up as he told Celine to replace him with Tom. He moved her to sit on the little bench and brought her a bottle of water as she shook her head.
“You know I can walk and do this myself, right?”
Raul huffed an amused laugh and nodded, sitting beside her “of course I do, doll, just taking care of my girl, yeah?”
Y/N rolled her eyes playfully, bumping his shoulder with hers as she chugged the water down “maybe I’m way worst than I originally thought”
“No, you’re not bad” he said shaking his head and she let out an annoyed breath “I mean it, you’re just rusty, this is not your field anyway, and you can’t use any weapons on the ring, so it’s harder, come on, you just need to activate muscle memory”  Raul said patting her back as he got up.
“Wish I could believe in myself like you do” she giggled sadly as she took his bigger outstretched hand, letting him pull her up.
“Me too, but don’t worry, we’ll get there, that’s why you have me, silly” he pinched her cheeks “now come on, you’ve got a lot to remember”
He took her to the punching bags, grabbing a pair of gloves for him to wear for her to punch. Then proceeded to bark orders and different combinations of moves, and surprisingly, she remembered most of them, not necessarily executing them perfectly, but it was a start. He then got rid of the gloves before carefully wrapping her hands and moving her to a punching bag.
“Here’s the thing, doll, you know what you’re doing, you just need to do it better” He placed his hands on her shoulders straightening her position, one hand sliding down her right arm to correct the movement “try it now” he said, his warm breath on her ear, making her suppress a shiver and forcing her to focus on the bag in front of her.
Y/N tried and it definitely improved, but it still wasn’t what she remembered doing, something felt off “okay, yeah, thanks”
“Good, now fix your legs, you’ll be fighting someone who possibly knows how to fight back, so rearrange your feet to gain more balance in case they come for you” he instructed, hands still on her shoulders as he used his own feet to fix hers in the floor “yeah, that’s it, now the strength” his gently glided down her arms, only for them to stop at her waist and stomach “this is where you have to focus on, contracting abdominal muscles will help the movement and impact of your punch, this is what you’re missing”
She knew he wasn’t necessarily teasing her or anything, this was just Raul trying to help her in his very touchy way, but that didn’t stop Y/N from becoming a bit speechless, not trusting her own voice to respond, she only nodded her head. To which he just laughed stepping back.
“Relax your shoulders and don’t forget how to breathe, doll” he said crossing his arms above his chest as he watched her finally letting go of her breath, taking a deep one before punching a few times
It wasn’t perfect, but it was almost there.
Raul knew she was good and completely capable of taking anyone down within seconds, her grades on every test they ever took serving as even more proof for them. She just needed to remember it a bit and he wanted her to be completely ready to face anything, he couldn’t afford her getting hurt on anybody’s watch, specially his. So he would do anything he possibly could to avoid that.
“Good, now give a few more, try a few kicks” he said and she looked back at him to nod, her breathing a bit elaborate  “I’ll meet on the ring later, sweetheart” Raul added with a wink before turning around to see the rest.
“Fuck you” he heard her mumbling before turning back to her task at hand, making him chuckle lightly as he moved around the gym.
Raul walked around helping as he could, wrestling with Jack for old time’s sake, adjusting a few of Tom’s moves and helping Celine with the new guns they’re given. He even managed to train a bit himself, before he decided it was time to take her to the ring before Y/N gave up on him and moved to something else. So he walked up to find her talking to Jack, he couldn’t hear much, but he heard enough to know it was time to intervene.
“-yeah, Adrian keeps asking me about you, I think he wants to take you out, you should go, he’s a great guy and word around he’s good in what he does, if you know what I mean” he teased wiggling his eyebrows at Y/N, making her giggle “you should go out with him, really, you’re both single”
“He can ask her out when we’re back, the only date she’s having for now is on the ring, come on, doll” Raul cut the conversation before he could listen to her reply.
“Jealous, cap?” Jack asked with a lopsided smile on his lips as she just laughed.
“Of Y/N? All the time, a pretty girl like her always has everyone’s attention, you should see whenever we go out to eat something or whatever”
Y/N rolled her eyes “oh please, shut up, both of you”
“I mean it, doll, now come on, let’s see how you improved” he said cracking his knuckles “and you, haven’t you got anything better to do than gossip?”
“Of course not, I’m all done” Jack replied.
“Done of getting your ass beaten today, you’ll only be ready whenever you’re able to take me down” Raul said as he draped his arm around Y/N’s shoulder.
Jack only threw a middle finger at Raul as both of the boys laughed.
Y/N and Raul climbed on the closest ring, with her stretching a bit as he did the same, both in some sort of staring competition. Everything with them could easily become a competition -who drank water fastest, little races to get to a certain place, who could count the most amount of super specific cars on a road trip, but the most common and their personal favorite, staring competition. And that was a recurring thing ever since they’re basically babies. And they both hated loosing and would try as hard as they could to beat the other.
Raul’s mind was racing. He wanted to ask if she was actually interested in someone at if she’d say eyes to whoever wanted to ask her out, or even if she actually looking for a date or maybe even if she didn’t want a serious relationship for now. All that while he had this beautiful sparkling with excitement eyes staring into his soul, leaving him bare for her to read. Meanwhile, she was only trying to concentrate on what was about to happen and also on trying to keep her heart at a normal pace, knowing full well she was about the get really close to her best friend. Also having the other stare at her so intently it was making it hard for her to breathe properly.
“Ready?”
Raul only smiled at her “Was born ready, doll”
Y/N then surged forward, getting him by surprise with her punch landing on his shoulder, and he had to admit, her punch was good. With the element of shock on her favor, she tried hitting him again, clearly avoiding his face. Raul then stepped forward regaining his composure and cornering her slowly, only blocking her attempted attacks, without fighting back. He then was kicked hard on the thigh, a surprised yelp leaving his lips with the painful sensation spreading through his muscles, and just as she was about to hit him in his chest, he grabbed her hand, the other being quick to join his grasp on his right hand.
“Not so bad, sweetheart” he said with a triumph smile on his lips but she was quick to get her left hand loose moving around to get out of the space he guided her to limit her space.
Then she started her series of punches and kicks again, him dodging most of them, but still being hit a few times making him proud but at the same time breath heavier on the pain spreading on his abused skin. When her hand came to hit him in the chest again, he grabbed it, already bringing the other one to join, before bringing her to the floor and immobilizing her with his own body. Y/N stopped struggling quickly, knowing she wasn’t going to be able to do much to get out of his grasp. She was panting heavily, but it was worth it, cause she was able to make him sweat and be a little less composed than when they started.
“Bet your secret admirer would be proud” Raul said still unmoved on top of her.
“Bet he would” Y/N sassed back and Raul chuckled, dropping his head to her collarbone and she swear her heart skipped a beat, her breath hitching on her throat.
Raul got up, offering a hand to her, which she gladly took “are you going out with him?”
“I don’t know, I don’t even know if that’s true or the guy, maybe? I think this is not the moment, so maybe i’m the future, who knows?” she shrugged, grabbing her water bottle and drinking before offering it to him.
“Yeah, you’re probably right” he said closing it again, pulling the ropes for her to step out.
Y/N turned around to face Raul, and as she waited for him she asked “what about you?”
“Me? What about me?” Raul stared at her, noticing the others were already gone.
“Are you proud?” she asked with a teasing smirk, voice playful, but deep down, that was all that mattered to her. Not Adrian or anyone else.
“I’m always proud of you, doll” he smirked at her and she only shook her head giggling “but yes, you’re good at it, just a bit more practice, you’re a natural”
                                                  -*-
“Come on, sweetheart, climb up here and I’ll let you all go so you can get ready for tomorrow” Raul said as he was propped up by the hopes on the ring, a smirk on his lips as everyone started gathering around.
It was the last day of preparing before they left the next morning. They’ve spent the whole week perfecting their skills and cover ups until it rolled out smoothly off their tongues. Y/N and Raul started a routine, they decided to set camp on his living room since it was a lot bigger than hers, so they would wake up already on his place, grab breakfast, run for a while before going straight to work. Then they’d meet their teammates for a brief discussion, after hitting the gym until their limbs gave out. When it neared 6 p.m., they’d leave for his place where they’d shower and order takeout or cook something simple, before talking until they fell asleep, most nights on the living room.
And despite she remembered as clear as day she fell asleep on the couch, she would wake up on his bed, wrapped on a heavy duvet, with the sound of water droplets hitting the ground from his bathroom. They never talked about it, both acting as if this routine was normal and settled for years now. And it was shocking how well they fit the role of this whole domestic situation. And Peter was loving it, always throwing knowing looks at her whenever she went to visit his lab area.
Y/N only rolled her eyes at him and Celine bumped her shoulder on Y/N’s, a feline smile gracing her sharp gorgeous features, and then  she turned to the six feet man standing at the edge of the ring “fine, but you’re buying me dinner”
Whatever you want, and if you’re able to win, I’ll even buy sushi for you and give you a back massage” he offered as he pulled the ropes to help her climb, bowing his head trying to hold back a chuckle.
She climbed on as he let the rope snap back into its place “And what would I have to do if I loose?” she teased, knowing full well she was going to take the offer only to have a chance to rub his smirk on the dirty and sweaty ground beneath her feet.
“Pack my bag and say I’m the most beautiful man you’ve ever laid your eyes on” he stated simply. And honestly, it wouldn’t be such a hard thing to do, but first, she wouldn’t want to add it to his already over inflated ego, second, she didn’t know if she would be able to say it without blurting out some other compromising feelings.
But Y/N stares at him and smiled lazily, like she wasn’t bothered at all  and truly contemplating his offer “tempting”
“Come on, babydoll” he mockingly pouted at her and she playfully sighed rolling her eyes, cracking her knuckles and rolling her head.
“Alright, but you better be ready to order from my favorite place and get me dessert” she added with a pointed look and he nodded eagerly.
“You make the rules” he winked before walking backwards to his designated spot “ready?”
“Yeah, let’s get this over it so you can buy me dinner” she teased, watching from the corner of her eyes as her teammates and even Peter gathered around to watch “or we can just stay here all night watching you brag about yourself and being all talk no action”
Raul laughed before shaking his head and a more concentrated look latch onto his eyes “don’t hold back, sweetheart”
“Not my thing” she said before taking a deep breath and trying to remember all she learned this week, making her first move.
Raul blocked her relatively easily, and then their movements flowed in an intricate rhythm. With only a few days of training, the improvement on her technique was obvious as she maneuvered a lot more gracefully than before. Her hits a lot more consistent, her defense was up and she was able to notice her opponents weakness so she could plan the next move. Y/N was also able to notice patterns on their tactics and predict their next move.
And he was a bit shocked. In a good way, but shocked nonetheless.
He knew she was good, Raul’s seen her training before, saw all her tests and grading throughout the years. Hell, he even taught her a lot of tricks he picked up over the years, so he knew how she behaved on a physical fight, knew her favorite moves and her worst ones like the back of his hand. But she surprised him with a few new hits and tricks he hasn’t seen her doing before. And that’s what caught him off guard and made her hit him hard a couple of times. That made Raul proud. Sure, he would loose the bet, but giving her a back massage, buying her food and seeing her happy after defeating him was priceless.
He didn’t make it easy for her, he never would. He wanted her to be the best of the best, always. So he hit back, avoiding her head or going to strong, she had to be whole for the other day. But that didn’t stop him from trying to take her down, but she was quick, she wasn’t too strong, but her agility made up for it.
“Come on, we have an audience, we should put on a show”
Y/N shook her head, concentration never leaving her determined eyes “I’m not an actress to entertain a crowd, nor a clown like you, baby”
“Hey!” he sounded offended, grabbing her fist in his bigger hand “rude”
She just shrugged, pulling her hand back before going back into action and it couldn’t be even more exciting. The teasing, the meaningless banter and still great performance on the wrestle was enough to put an ease on Raul’s heart. She could do it. Of course she could, but now there would be less collateral damage.
So when he felt her kick him to the ground, quickly pinning him to the rubber type material floor, immobilizing him in a way he wasn’t even able to move his arms if she didn’t let go. Y/N was sat on his stomach, face hovering centimeters above his, breath on frantic rhythm, as he panted on her face, feeling the slow pain crippling on his back and limbs where it collided with the floor. Raul couldn’t help but smile at the surprised and amused glint on her eyes as she was slowly processing she was able t take him down. The cheerful screams around them were only white noise as they stared at each other’s eyes, and he already felt like his heart was going to burst with pride and happiness, that until he heard the gleeful flightless leaving her lips as realization finally hit her, her forehead hitting his clavicle as she laughed, pure joy coursing through her veins.
He ended up laughing with her, his cheeks hurting from the smile stretched across his face. Y/N nuzzled her face on his neck still buzzing happily as she laughed. Raul turned his head lightly, only enough to press a kiss to her temple as she recovered her breathing.
When she finally did, she untangled her legs from his, getting up from his torso and offering a hand at him, which he gladly took as he stood up, facing his colleagues as they still laughed and cheered at her. Celine climbed up to meet her with a quick, sharp, strong hug in congratulations before dragging her down with her. Jack was quick to pat Raul on the back as he chuckled, mumbling a ‘good luck with your girl, dude, she’s a badass and you’re gonna need it’. When he finally met her eyes again, he offered her his hand and Y/N automatically took it, letting him pull her closer until she was in his arms.
“That was insane, doll, shit, you did so good” he said, arms loosely looped around her waist and she beamed proudly at him.
“I did work hard for that” Y/N shrugged trying to play it coy but he was only able to chuckle.
Raul nodded “yeah, I noticed, and I’m so fucking proud of you for that, and many more reasons, but that?! You’re the fucking best, you know?” he praised and she felt her body heating up.
“Actually” she said softly, looking down at his silver necklace “Celine’s the best, she showed me a few new tricks that I combined with the ones you taught me and the ones I already knew, so yeah”
“When did that even happen?” he didn’t try hiding his initial shock. They’ve been basically around each other 24/7, how did he not notice her training with someone else the past week?
“Well, to be fair you’re too cocky for your own good” Y/N had that pointed look in her eyes as she poked him on his broad chest “so I kinda asked her to show me how I could take you down and we’ve been doing it in secret, mostly when you went down to meet with Peter or to practice shooting”
“So it was a whole scheme just to try to embarrass me and knock me out?” he’s tone in a playful accusation as his brows shot up in evident disbelief.
“To sum it up, yeah, pretty much” she shrugged innocently as Raul threw his head back laughing.
“That's fucking awesome, you’re amazing” he said letting go of her waist, only to turn to face their team, dropping his arm around her shoulders “alright, guys, it was a hard week but I believe it paid off. We learned a lot with each other and I believe we’re a lot better now. This is still a fucked up mission, but I think we’re ready to face it and as long as we keep on working together and communicating well, we’ll be alright and coming back home as soon as possible, yeah? Think we should call it a day and test tonight”
“Okay, cap” Tom replied eagerly making Y/N chuckle before shaking her head.
“So what do you say, cap?” Y/N asked teasingly as the others laughed.
Raul smiled down at her as he shook his head “Think we’re ready, doll”

You Saved Me - Derek Hale x fem!reader part 27
------------
"So it's safe now?" I asked into the phone, a little less enthusiastic as I would have been four years ago. Four. Years. In those four years, I had moved out of Castle McLeod, gotten my own little cottage on the mainland, and Nicholas has been taking Gaelic classes to prepare him for school next year. But it seemed that they were unnecessary now.
"Yeah, now it's finally safe." Scott said, nervously.
"Scott, have you looked at a calendar?"
“A lot of stuff has happened!”
“I’m well aware of that. Including stuff I should have been there for.” Nothing like hearing your best friend was possessed by a Nogitsune. I sighed, happy at least that I could come home. I had the paperwork done for months, it took almost four years to get the paperwork for Nicholas’ citizenship. It’s almost as if the United States was making it harder and harder for people to enter the country.
“Alright, I’ll pick up Michael from work and get Nicholas in the car.”
“You’re bringing Michael?”
“Yeah, I have to. He’s my bodyguard.”
“Derek’s not gonna like that.”
“Yeah well, I wouldn’t know that would I?” I snapped. Derek had become a touchy subject in the house. Considering that I hadn’t heard from him in three years.
“Okay, okay, but Derek said-”
“I don’t care what Derek said. I don’t.” I put on a smile when I saw Nicholas walk in, “I’ll see you tomorrow.” I hung up before he could continue. I slid my phone in my back pocket and grinned down at my son.
“Guess what, sweetie.”
“Wha?” He asked, his green eyes wide. His long, dark hair in his eyes. He picked up an accent from living here, mostly from Lachlan who had become his favorite person.
Bending down, I swept the hair away from his eyes, “We’re gonna move to America. We get to see mama’s family.”
“Really?!” He started bouncing up and down.
“Yeah!” I picked him up in my arms and held him close, “Uncle Stiles and Grandpa Noah and Uncle Scott.” I paused, trying to figure out how to add his other family in without him asking questions, “All of them.”
“Yay!” He cheered. Pressing a kiss to his cheek, I carried him into his room and started to pack his bag.
-
"Hey, darlin'." Michael sat down in the passenger seat of my rental car, pressing a kiss to my cheek before looking back, "Sin mo bhalach! (There’s my boy)." I really wasn’t a fan of these but he was trying to keep up appearances for the locals that we were just a little family.
"Bidh thu a ’sabaid ris na droch ghillean, Mikey?(You fight the bad guys?)" Nicholas was almost fluent in Scottish Gaelic. Sometimes, he spoke words that I didn’t even know yet.
"I sure did, bud!" He smiled and then looked back at me, "You wouldn't believe what we went through today. Rouge teenage werewolf pack, no alpha. Major power struggle. We put them in detainment and we're looking into a pack that'll take them in."
"Yeah sounds... Fun." He was in his maroon uniform that Lachlan created for all Lunar Circle bodyguards; it looked like a cross between the Green Berets and navy camo.  On his breast pocket was a bronze and gold wolf-print medal.
"What's wrong, darlin?" He asked. I looked behind and pressed the screen icon on the touch screen on the dash.
"Hey, honey.” I looked back at Nicholas in the rearview mirror, “Why don't you watch a movie? Yeah?" He nodded with a grin, putting on his blue earmuffs with built in sound protection and happily started watching whatever movie I had put in the DVD player, Strange Magic I think.
“What is it?"
"Well, first: you don’t have to call me darlin when we’re alone.” I glanced at him and then the road, Two, Scott called. It's safe to go back home." I looked back at Nicholas in the mirror, he looked so peaceful. Just humming along to whatever was playing.
"And I want to see Uncle Noah and Stiles."
Michael stared out the window, "And Derek too, I'm assuming.” He said grimly, “(Y/N), I thought you were over him. I thought we were finally moving on with our lives. Are you playing with my emotions-"
"Do you think this is a game? I love my life here, but I need to see my family. I want him to know his family outside of a computer screen. And if that means he sees Derek, then he will."
"Alright, alright, fine. Let's go back. I gotta pack-"
"Oh, already did that. Clothes packed, Lachlan’s having the rest shipped on his freighter.”
He chuckled, "Figured. You're always prepared." Michael smiled, looking back at Nicholas who was halfway asleep, struggling not to drop his sippy cup.
"What are we going to do about Derek?" He asked.
Sighing, my shoulders slumped, "I don't know, Mikey. I really don't."
-
Lachlan met us at the airport to see us off. Well, more to see Nicholas off. Since he was born, Lachlan had gone above and beyond for the little boy. From boat rides, to swimming in Loch Ness, to whatever toy his little heart desired. The Praetor spoiled him for sure.
“He’s got everything?” Lachlan asked nervously, “All his clothes? Does he have puppy dog because you know he can’t sleep without it-”
“Lachlan, relax.” I held onto his shoulders, “Nicholas has everything he needs.”
“I’m just nervous.” Lachlan said, looking over as Nicholas slept on Michael’s lap, “I don’t know what we’ll do without him.”
“You mean you don’t know what you’ll do?” I lightly punched his shoulder.
He sighed, “I just... You two are family to me. The family that I never got to have.” He looked back at me, “Maybe I should come with you. I’ve never been to America before. Plus, our ground team of security has already been dispatched to Beacon Hills.”
“We’ll be safe. It’s finally safe back there.” I smiled. Lachlan sighed loudly, combing his hair back from his face when the overhead voice called for us to board our flight.
“Okay.” He mumbled, walking over to sleeping Nicholas and taking him into his arms.
“I’ll see you soon, kiddo.” He kissed the top of his head. Nicholas mumbled something in his sleep, tightening his grip on his wolf plush - puppy dog.
-
"There she is!" Uncle Noah walked out of the house, arms wide. I squealed, running up the driveway and into his arms. He squeezed me tight, swaying us from side to side. Uncle Noah smelled like home, something that I had missed for so long. He sniffled a little, pulling away to look down at me.
"Awh sweetheart..." He held my cheeks, wiping away happy tears.
"Happy tears, happy tears." I hiccupped, looking back at Michael who got a sleepy Nicholas out of his car seat.
"Stiles off being an FBI man?" I chuckled.
"You bet, but he's gonna be home soon."
Once Nicholas rubbed the sleep out of his eyes, they opened wide when he saw Uncle Noah.
"Grandpa!" He ran up, replacing me in Uncle Noah's arms.
"Look how big you are!" He said through a grin, "Oh I have waited for so long to hug on you." He startled tickling the little boy, causing a fit of giggles.
"Let's get you guys inside, I bet you're starving." He led us inside, Nicholas talking his ear off.
Dinner was good, but anything would be good since we had been eating Scottish cuisine for the last four years. Not that I didn't like the food there, it's just that nothing beat the tastes of home.
After dinner, Nicholas had crashed in the middle of the living room floor. Even after a cross-continental flight, he had enough energy to stay up way past his bedtime back home to talk and place with all the toys that Grandpa had bought him. Oddly enough, it was around that he would go to bed time-wise. Lachlan said that werewolves had an internal clock and always knew when to wake up and when to sleep. Yeah, tell that to all the sleepless nights in the first few months of his life.
Michael patted my hand and stood up, going into the living room and oh so carefully picked up the sleeping boy and took him upstairs to my old room. Leaving Uncle Noah and I with our coffee.
"Still nothing from Derek, huh?"
"Nada. Nicholas has never really asked."
"Does he think Michael's his dad?" He said over a sip from his mug.
"Oh absolutely not. As far as he knows, his dad is off having great adventures. That's what he's come up with."
"I thought you said Derek was going to be a part of his life."
"He was." I sipped my now cold coffee, "He tried for a while. He used to video call us for a couple months."
"There's daddy." I held the four month old in front of the camera as soon as Derek's face filled the screen. Nicholas made a cooing noise and reached for the screen with little grabby hands. Derek grinned brightly, the special twinkle in his eye that made my soul want to melt.
"There's my boy." His eyes searched the screen, "He still has so much hair."
I nodded, "Yeap. All thanks to you, Sasquatch." I sat the baby boy on my lap and kissed the top of his head. My attention was brought back to Derek where he was just staring at us with so much love and adoration that I wanted nothing more than to fly back to Beacon Hills.
"Did you get my package?" He asked, referring to the large box full of toys, clothes, pictures and random items that he was completely spoiling our child with.
"If you mean all the toys, yeah, we got it." I smiled, "He's in love with that little wolf plush. He can't sleep without it." As if on cue, Nicholas started whining until he was given the toy which was beside us on the bed. When I gave it he promptly started gumming on the ear.
"Yeah, I thought he might." He leaned on his hand and watched him, "Cora said that it was cliché but I don't care." Then he sat up like he had thought of something.
"What about your gift?" He leaned in towards the screen.
I shook my head and smiled, "I'm wearing it, aren't I?" I tugged at the hem of the shirt I was wearing. It was one of his black t-shirts, one that hadn't been torn or soiled with blood. It smelled just like him and I had been wearing it at night to sleep.
"Has he started showing any signs?"
I looked down at my baby, "Not that I can think of. But he's only a couple months old. Lachlan said that if he hasn't shown signs now, he may have the dormant gene. Since I was a werewolf when he was conceived he should more than likely be one. But no dice, he sleeps all night during the full moon. Or, that's what Michael tells me." He scoffed.
"What?"
"I guess Michael's the expert now."
"Derek, we're not doing this again."  Michael was a touchy subject.
"You know what?" He said, "I gotta go. I'll call you tomorrow." The video call ended.
~
"And that's the last time I heard from him." I got up and poured my cold coffee in the sink and started rinsing out the mug.
"That doesn't sound like Derek." He looked back at me, "But... It will be nice having people in the house again. With Stiles being gone all the time. Nicholas is great." He grinned, "A little rambunctious, but he's pretty great."
"You're telling me." I leaned against the counter after I turned off the sink, "His first word was momma. After that he started getting better and better. Talking all the time. He's almost fluent in Gaelic." I added, "Lachlan basically started a preschool program for the other kids after he was born. And while he's at preschool, I am leading their research team on the negative effects of the Wolf Eclipse spell and the intergenerational trauma that comes from it."
"Well look at that, my little girl, head of the research team." He stood up and walked to the sink, rinsing his cup and leaving it there.
"Just no big deal." I smirked.
"So when is Derek coming?" He asked, leaning against the counter.
I inhaled through my teeth and shrugged, "He doesn't know we're here. I've been trying to figure out how to talk to him since we got on the plane."
"Oh..." Uncle Noah grimaced, "Cause ya see, Stiles is working with Derek on something. And Derek's been staying here."
My eyes widened in shock, and my head whipped around just in time for the door to open. Stiles stood in the doorway, dressed in a collared shirt, tie, black slacks and dress shoes. I had not seen him this dressed up in a decade. But my focus was on the werewolf standing behind him, staring right back at me. He hadn't changed a bit, not that I expected him to look so different. But I hadn't heard from him in so long that he almost felt like a different person. Not even our connection could travel that far so seeing him now was strange. The connection we had was back again, my heart felt full after feeling half empty for so long. I was back where we started four years ago, the familiar strangers.
"God dammit." I whispered to myself before smiling awkwardly, "Uh... Surprise?"
"(Y/N)... Hey..." Stiles said in his Stiles fashion of being incredibly awkward. He rubbed the back of his neck, his eyes darting from me to Derek.
Derek had not taken his eyes off of me, just kept on staring on in confusion. It was like he couldn't fathom that I was actually standing in the kitchen.
"Where is he?" He asked softly.
“I-...” I had come up with some many things to say to him. I had even written them down. But they went poof out of my memory.
"Where is he?" His eyes changed color, but his eyes weren't alpha red, no. They were beta yellow again. He had lost his alpha status... But how. And how come they weren’t blue anymore? Obviously, Scott and Stiles had missed a few details. His eyes scanned the room and locked on Nicholas’ dinosaur sippy cup that he left on the table. That was all he needed before he started for the stairs. I blocked his path to the stairs, flashing my red eyes at him to show dominance. He couldn’t go past me, I was the alpha here.
Or, at least, that’s what I thought. When it came to his child, Derek Hale would stop at nothing to get to him. I would admire that if he wasn’t trying to get around me to get upstairs. He grabbed me by the arms, throwing me back towards the living room, storming up the stairs. I scrambled to follow, Stiles and Uncle Noah behind me, calling for him to stop.
When I made it up the stairs, I found him staring into the open doorway of my bedroom. He had an expression I couldn’t read, but his emotions came flooding out in anger and betrayal. Since he was distracted, I grabbed him by the back of his neck and threw him to the ground. He pulled me with him, flipping us so that he was on top, roaring down at me.
“Why did you keep him from me?!”
“You kept him from yourself!” I roared back.
“Mommy!” We both looked towards the doorway where Nicholas stood. He was wearing little footie pajamas, clutching onto his wolf. He was trembling at what he was witnessing.
Derek growled, sitting up quickly. I grabbed his arm, trying to get up. He had caught me so off guard that I was scrambling to keep up. He glared back, shoving me into the wall and walking towards the door. Nicholas screamed, running back into the room.
“YOU’RE SCARING HIM!” I screamed, reaching out. In his rage, I don’t think he realized what he was doing.
Then there was a pop and Derek fell on his back, a tranquillizer dart in his neck. I looked up, seeing Michael with the gun in one hand and crying Nicholas in the other. I stood up quickly, taking Nicholas in my arms, holding him close.
“It’s okay, baby. Mommy’s here. Everything’s alright.” I tried to sound reassuring, but it was hard too when I was looking down at my child’s father on the floor.
-
"It took a while but Nicholas went down. I was with him until he fell asleep." I slumped down on the couch next to Stiles. Stiles wrapped an arm around my shoulders, pulling me into his side. I missed moments like this.
“I should have killed him.” Michael grumbled, pacing in front of us. Derek was tied up and sat against the wall. He was still passed out, he would be for a while. In the meantime, we need to figure out what we were going to do with him.
“Alright, cool it, dude.” Stiles narrowed his eyes up at him. He said that he still didn’t like Michael. Truth is, I didn’t either. A lot of things were still unclear, even now.
“We all just need to calm down and figure out what we’re doing.” Uncle Noah said, leaning forward in his recliner chair.
“Look, we just need to let him wake up and...” I sighed and leaned my head on Stiles’ shoulder, “I just need to talk to him, figure out what happened.”
Uncle Noah looked between Michael and I, “He told us that he-”
“It doesn’t matter what he told you.” Michael snapped. I looked up at him, narrowing my eyes.
“Watch your tone.” I said sternly. Michael sighed, sitting on the couch beside me, putting a hand on my knee. Stiles and I stared at his hand. I grabbed his hand and put it on his own knee.
"What?" He asked in an exasperated way.
"Please, we can't do that right now." It wasn't the answer he wanted to hear. But I don't really care about that. All I know is that we need to talk to Derek in a controlled environment. Which, unfortunately, was the last place I wanted to be.
"We need to bring him to the bunker in the Hale House.” Michael said.
I winced, "Do we have to? It's just..." I thought back to the day where I thought Derek and I were going to die. I thought our last moments together would be pain and ache from seeing each other die.
“(Y/N), he just traumatized Nicholas. I don't give a shit if he has PTSD. He's not under the protection of the Lunar Circle, his safety and well-being is not my priority." He stood and walked to Derek, ready to grab him.
“Wait a minute.” Michael stopped at my voice, his eyes darting from me to the sheriff, “Uncle Noah.” I turned towards him, “What did Derek say?”
“That doesn’t matter.” Michael said quickly.
“She isn't talking to you.” Stiles said, standing up and moving between Michael and I. I looked at Uncle Noah.
“What did he say?” I asked calmly.
Uncle Noah sat back in his recliner, “Well...” He rolled his shoulders back, “Derek said that he was frustrated that he couldn’t get ahold of you. And when he tried to go through Michael, he said not to call because you didn’t want to talk to him.” I smiled to myself, clicking my tongue. I turned to Michael, my smile falling and my eyes burning red.
“Did I?” I chuckled, “I had no idea.” I stood up and stalked forward, shoving Michael, “You kept him from calling us, didn’t you?”
Michael raised his hands in surrender, “You just seemed so angry with him after that call, I thought-”
“No, you didn’t think.” I interrupted, “You selfish son of a bitch.”
“I am doing what’s best for Nicholas.” He shot back.
“Whoa whoa.” Uncle Noah got between the two of us, “Put the claws away.” Stiles pulled me away from the situation, leading me outside. He brought me to the backyard, the cool night air felt nice against the hot anger I felt.
“Thanks for taking me out of there.” I smiled, “I probably would have killed him.”
“Trust me, the thought crossed my mind.” Stiles shoved his hands in his pockets, “I mean,” He shrugged, “It wouldn’t be so horrible if ended up in a ditch somewhere. He’s a murderer on the run for four years, I feel like it would be fine.”
I laughed, pulling him close into a tight hug, “I missed you.”
He smiled, wrapping his arms around my shoulders, “I missed you too.”
-
The next morning, Stiles, Scott, and I met outside the Hale House cellar. Michael was already there, having taken Derek down already to ‘secure’ him.
“Well, if it isn’t Scott McCall.” I said, spotting the alpha. The computer screen didn’t do him justice. He had grown so much in four years. He had a new energy about him, he wasn’t a curly haired boy anymore.
“(Y/N).” He grinned, pulling me into a quick hug, “I was gonna visit yesterday to surprise you but Stiles said it was a bad idea.”
“Very bad idea.” I looked towards the entrance of the cellar. Going back in there was going to bring up memories, I could almost feel the phantom pains from the acid on my legs.
“You okay?” Stiles asked, placing a hand on my shoulder.
“I got this.” I smiled back at both of them, “I got my boys with me.”
Walking through the tunnels to the cellar was more than enough to give me nightmares for a long time. But Michael was right about one thing: we needed to tell Derek what was going on in a controlled environment.
By the time we got down to the main area, Michael was putting the handcuffs on Derek, leaving him chained to the wall surrounded by mountain ash.
“You brought back up, huh?” Michael asked, shoving the bottle of mountain ash in his pocket.
“I brought my friends. Derek will feel more comfortable around people he trusts. I would be one of them, no thanks to you.” I looked back at Derek, "He'll be awake soon?"
Michael only nodded.
"Will he be okay? This won't hurt him, right?" He turned to me and glared.
"You're still in love with this asshole, aren't you?" He growled, "After everything he's done to you? After everything we," He motioned between us, "Have been through? After I have spent four years of our lives taking care of our child? You still care about this sack of garbage." Scott and Stiles stepped forward, I stretched my arms out to keep them from moving.
I narrowed my eyes at him, “Michael-”
"No, you're going to listen to me!" He shouted, "I can't believe you. You went through all his shit and you still love him? You still love that stupid son of a bitch. You see this?" He motioned to Derek, "You see this asshole? Who scared the shit out of our baby? You didn't see what I saw. He was screaming and crying out for me, begging me to save you, begging his father to save you from the bad man. Even he can tell who loves him, who his real father is!"
“The.." We all looked at Derek, who was just starting to wake up, "The hell do you mean," He began to growl, beginning to shift, "His father?" Derek stood up, a little wobbly at first but he stood strong. He had also shifted form. “Nicholas is my son! My flesh and blood! My family! You kept him from me, you kept both of them from me!" He roared and stood, pulling at the chains.
"You left them behind because of all your jealousy. I took care of him! I've protected him from everything, and for the rest of my life, I will protect him from you!" Michael pointed, barking his words harshly.
Suddenly, Derek broke his chains, "I'll kill you!" He pushed against the mountain ash barrier. Scott rushed forward to keep Derek at bay while Stiles started a shouting match with Michael. All of this shouting began to overload my senses. I hadn’t felt like this since the spell broke all those years ago. I had to do something, and I had to do it now.
"ENOUGH!" I roared, making the walls shake and thankfully bringing their attention to me, "No more talking, I'm talking now." They all shut up and looked up at me.
“Michael, I’m not even going to get started with you since this whole situation is your goddamn fault.” I rubbed at my temples, “The only reason that I am even still entertaining you being here is because of my son. Mine. Not yours.” I looked at Derek, “I’m sorry. I didn’t know that Michael had cut off our communication.”
“So he told you?” Derek continued to glare at Michael.
“No, I had to figure it out for myself.” I walked towards the barrier, my heart beat rising, “You deserved to be a part of his life from the beginning. I should have fought more.” I took a deep breath, “I should have fought for us.”
“It’s not your fault.” He said softly. Stiles walked towards us, breaking the barrier with his shoe.
The force of Derek’s arms wrapping around me nearly knocked me over. His strong arms held me tightly against his chest. I could feel his heart pumping against his chest. One arm was wrapped around my wait, his other hand cradling the back of my head like I would break. I wrapped my arms around him with the same force, if not more. He was so warm, I could almost feel his heat melting away the sadness I had felt for four years. Honestly, I wanted the whole world to fall away at that moment, it felt like I was falling in love with him all over again starting from the time we were teenagers.
The game was in its final minutes, we were behind by two points. One shot from the three point line and they would win. After the toss up, the opposing team got the ball, leading to our hoop. Derek's teammate quickly weaved through the other players, intercepting the ball and passing it to Derek. I stood up with the rest of the crowd, my whole body tensing up as the clock ticked down. He shot the ball.
Watching Derek play basketball was almost as nerve wracking as being on the lacrosse field. It took everything in me not to make call outs to him. I was bouncing my feet instead of my usual finger twiddling since my arm had been torn up yesterday. Laura had to practically hold me in my seat from her spot besides me. It was a training incident that had gone wrong. Derek had his claws out while I had our training shield. I had gotten distracted and Derek scratched me by accident. My parents were pissed.
Three...
Two...
One...
The ball rolled around the rim and then fell through the basket.
I cheered, raising my arms in the air, ignoring the pain from my cuts. The team surrounded him, jumping up and down in excitement. Derek looked up at the stands, pointing towards, realistically both of us but I felt like it was right at me. My heart fluttered a bit and I smiled so hard my cheeks hurt. My cheeks burned hot.
“You blushing, (Y/N/N)?” Laura smirked, looking down at me.
“What?” My eyes widened, “No.” I started rubbing my cheeks in circles, but Laura stopped me by grabbing my hands and carefully putting them to my sides. Which was helpful since it was starting to hurt my arm.
“Chill out.” She smiled, nodding her head towards the exit, “Let’s go see the big winner.” I nodded, focusing more on hiding my blush than walking so Laura helped me off the bleachers and outside.

It's fairly early when you leave your home for college, around 7am something. The air around you is still fairly crisp and cool, but you're not bothered. Others would be shaking if they went outside in just skinny jeans and a simple sweater when it's 0°C outside.
But you? You're not bothered in the slightest as you calmly walk down the street and towards the giant building.
It's metallic cover reflects the sunlight, slightly blinding you in the process. It makes you squint and avert your eyes.
"Y/N!"
Your head turns in the direction of the call and you see your best friend jogging towards you with a bright grin. "Oh, hey."
"Good morning!" He beams, way too enthusiastic for your liking at this hour.
A demonstrative yawn escapes you as you lazily wave at him. "Morn'..." You mumble and wipe the tears out of your eyes which gathered due to your yawn.
"Aren't you gonna give your bestie a hug?" He pouts and his dimples make an appearance. "I'm disappointed."
A chuckle escapes you before you turn towards him completely and give him his desired display of affection.
A happy sigh escapes him as he tightly slings his arms around you. "I'm never letting you go, it's too cold!" He whines when you move to break the hug.
"Wear warmer clothes then, you buffoon." You mumble, struggling to push him away and ultimately just giving up.
"Nahh, why would I do that when I have my personal heater right under my nose?" He teases.
"Shut up and let me go, we have classes soon." You whine and push at his chest again.
He relents with a high pitched laugh as he watches you stumble back, his arms letting go easier than expected and making you lose your balance for a few seconds.
"You fucker" You hiss while taking big, fast steps towards your destination.
"My baby! Don't be mad!" Your friend whines while jogging to match your pace.
"It's not even 8 yet and the two of you are already having a quarrel." A new voice joins the two of you.
Startled by the sudden intervention, you whip your head to pinpoint the source and find another guy of your friend group.
"Sangyeon? Where did you come from?" You ask, eyes moving up to meet his.
"You must have forgotten that I always meet you at this section in the road, tsk." The older one answers and shakes his head.
"Sorryyyy" You say with a chuckle, "but Changmin here decided to be an ass first thing in the morning! It's his fault"
"HUH??" The culprit screeches in surprise, "Excuse me??"
"Be quiet you two, I don't need a headache right before classes."
"Sorryy" Changmin and you chime in unison, "dad." the former adds and snickers, earning himself a glare from Sangyeon.
The three of you continue on the rest of the way in silence and you couldn't be more grateful. Your mind is not yet in the right place for any intellectual conversation.
The enormous college building towers in front of you all as you reach the campus.
"Ohh look, the others are already here!" Changmin happily points out, proceeding to skip towards said friend group.
Sangyeon and you exchange an amused glance before also walking towards them.
"Morning everyone." You wave at the guys and they all greet you back.
"Y/N my love!" Your other best friend exclaims and jumps to hug you, "I'm so glad you're finally here! Please warm me up, I'm freezing!"
The other guys laugh at their youngest friend's antics, you included. Nonetheless you proceed to hug him around his middle and make use of your powers. Your skin immediately heats up to a nice and cozy temperature and the guy hums in relief.
"You're such a baby." You chuckle and pat his broad back affectionately.
"Classes start in about 10 minutes, we can go inside now."
"Oh, look who decided to show up." Sangyeon teases.
"What? Why would I show up half an hour before classes?" Said newcomer replies. "I can take all the time I need, unlike you guys~"
"Stop being arrogant, Hyun." The oldest playfully scolds.
"Now now, don't fight." Jacob intervenes, voice clearly expressing his worry.
"Hold on, what class do we have now?" You suddenly realize and look up to meet Sunwoo's eyes.
"Uhh I'm pretty sure it's chem." He replies, now looking at Younghoon for confirmation.
"Yeah" he nods. "We should go, it's all the way on the top floor of the building."
Sunwoo and you groan in unison, totally not thrilled on having to walk up 10 flights of stairs.
"I actually also have chemistry, but in another course." Jaehyun says, "It's on the same floor though."
The three of you guys look at your friend with hope.
"Urgh, fiiine." He groans, already knowing exactly what you were all going to ask of him.
"Yay!" You beam happily and peel yourself away from Youngjae. "Sorry hun but you gotta get inside quickly to stay warm I guess."
He grumbles something inaudible and you immediately attach yourself to Jaehyun's arm instead and give him a smile. "You're the best, Hyunnie!"
He can't help the amused smile to crawl onto his lips. "I know."
You hear Sunwoo make a gagging sound, prompting you to laugh. "Let's go now."
"Sure, sure." Jaehyun hums and within a second the four of you are up on the top floor.
"Thank you~" You happily chime and stand on your tiptoes to press a quick kiss to the man's cheek. Then you turn around, link arms with Sunwoo and Younghoon and drag them into your chemistry classroom with a content smile on your face.
Both men exchange a glance at that interaction and internally behead Jaehyun for having his useful ability.
When Sunwoo turns his head to look at the older guy, Jaehyun shows him a priggish smirk and waves before disappearing.
"He really-"
"Good morning you three!" Your teacher greets and Sunwoo immediately stiffens, startled by the voice. "Class starts in 5 minutes, find your seats!"
"Yes ma'am!" The three of you reply and give a quick bow before scurrying to your seats.
"Miss Im is so scary…" Younghoon shudders and you nod.
Your teacher had given the class an experiment to work on in groups of three. Funnily enough, a student had broken one of the school's bunsen burners, so now your group was without one.
"Great, just great" Miss Im angrily says under her breath.
"Miss" You say and raise your hand. She looks at you and nods. "I can use my power instead for fire-"
"Under no circumstance will you do that!" She immediately shoots down your idea and raises her voice. "What if you set fire to something in here? You could hurt us!"
You don't know what to say, feeling at a loss for words at her sudden outburst. Sunwoo and Younghoon notice your shaking hands and glare at the teacher.
"Did you really have to lash out at her like that? She just suggested it!" Sunwoo angrily replies and stands up from his chair, smacking the table. "We all here have been living with our powers ever since we were 5! We have them under control! Y/N would never hurt someone on purpose!"
Younghoon had hugged you close to calm your anxiety down while everyone just watched and listened to Sunwoo's outburst.
Then it was quiet for a moment, Miss Im too stunned to say anything back and the rest of the class only agreed with him.
Sunwoo was quite literally charged, you could see little lightning bolts dancing all over him.
"Sunwoo…" You quietly say and he looks at you. "It's okay."
He takes a deep breath and shoots the teacher another sharp glare.
She clicks her tongue angrily and just ignores this incident, instead opting to not grade your group on this one.
After class ends the three of you quickly make your way downstairs and onto the campus to meet the others. Sunwoo was stubbornly clinging onto your arm with an annoyed pout on his face.
"Hey Sunwoo." you speak up and nudge him so he looks at you. "Thank you for interfering."
He gives you a tight-lipped smile and says "No big deal."
"Thank you too Hoonie." you turn to the older guy and give him an affectionate smile which he returns shyly.
"Oh look, the troublemakers are coming." Someone teases when the three of you proceed on your way towards your friend group.
You turn to glare at the person, your red eyes flaring dangerously and they immediately look away, visibly flustered.
"Hey hey, we already heard you guys got in trouble." Jacob says first when you are within hearing range. "What happened? Are you okay?"
"Don't worry, we're fine." You answer and wave him off, but the way he eyes Sunwoo tells you that's not what he wanted to hear.
"Miss Im went off on Y/N after she offered to use her powers for the experiment because a burner was missing." Younghoon explains and you feel Sunwoo tighten his group on your arm even further. "A- Sunwoo what's gotten into you?" You exclaim to him and prod at his arm to give you some room.
"I'm sorry Noona, I'm just still mad at Miss Im." He mumbles and hides his face on your shoulder.
"Stop being a baby." Juyeon speaks up and pries the younger one from you… well he tries. "Argh, let go already! Chanhee, come help me out!"
"Wha- Hyung what am I supposed to do??" The younger one replies incredulously.
"Just help me get this walking taser off of Y/N!"
You snort at that exclamation and Sunwoo gives Juyeon a pointed look. "Did you really just call me a walking taser?!"
"So what if I did?"
"Unbelievable." Chanhee shakes his head, but an amused smile plays at his lips nonetheless.
Your eyes basically scream 'help me!!' As you look at Youngjae, the youngest out of you all gives you a laugh before nodding. And suddenly Sunwoo's grip on you loosens and you quickly peel yourself away and hide behind the culprit. "Thanks Jae." you snicker against his arm as you peek out to look at a confused Sunwoo.
"Yah!" He literally screams, making all of you flinch besides Changmin. "Youngjae I swear-"
"Enough now, kids!" Sangyeon finally steps in and silences Sunwoo quickly. He pouts and crosses his arms in front of his chest.
You move from behind Youngjae to stand to his left, now in between him and Changmin.
"Ohh guys!" The latter suddenly speaks up with sparkly eyes and everyone looks at him. "How about we have a sleepover at my house this weekend? We're free next week so we can have some fun together!"
Everyone quickly makes eye contact with the others. "Sure!" Haknyeon nods and adjusts his choker. "I'm itching to take this thing off, it's really weird to be as close to normal as it can get here."
You all laugh at that, remembering how he has to wear it due to his powers. His hyperawareness is a very useful power, but also hard to live with, since he gets easily overwhelmed in crowded places. He had someone in his family create that ability dimmer for him so he could live without being constantly overwhelmed.
"You over there!"
All of you turn to see who called, finding it to be your headmaster. "Kim Sunwoo and L/N Y/N, come over here."
You give Youngjae a panicked look and he shoots you one right back. That can't be good.
The two of you slowly walk towards the man, stopping about a meter in front of him. "Do you know why I came to speak with you?"
"No, sir." You shake your head, not daring to look into his eyes. Out of the corner of your eyes you see Sunwoo trembling slightly.
"Well, I came here because Miss Im told me about what happened during her chemistry lesson. Shall I remind you, Miss L/N, that it is strictly prohibited to use your powers on campus grounds, unless they're unable to be deactivated?"
"N-No, I know that, sir." You reply quietly. "But we were missing a burner, so I thought-"
"You thought what? That it would be a good idea to use your powers instead and to risk hurting your classmates? Hm?"
"I'm so-sorry. It won't happen again, sir"
"And now on to you, Mister Kim." The headmaster turns to Sunwoo instead and you try to calm your racing heart and keep your anxious tears at bay. "You're really cocky for a 2nd year, just raising your voice at a teacher like that AND using your powers in a classroom."
"Miss Im has started it." Sunwoo replies through gritted teeth, "She could've calmly explained it, but instead she decided to humiliate Y/N Noona in front of the whole class! Was I just supposed to watch?!"
"Sunwoo-" You hiss, scared for him.
"Excuse me?"
"You heard me right, sir."
"Don't make me call your parents." The much older man threatens.
"Oh, go ahead then." Sunwoo replies, "I don't care."
"Sunwoo!" You say with big eyes. "Stop it!"
"You should listen to your little friend, Mister Kim." The headmaster sneers, "I'll let you off the hook since you never did anything before. You better behave." he clicks his tongue and leaves.
You grab Sunwoo by the collar and pull him to match your height. "Are you out of your mind?!"
"Hey hey…" Jacob quickly makes an appearance and gently touches your shoulders with nothing but worry all over his face. "Please calm down Y/N."
"You idiot, he could have expelled you or something! Don't do stuff like that!" You practically beg him with teary eyes.
The younger one's eyes soften. "I'm sorry Noona, I won't do it again, but please don't cry."
Jacob takes a step back and just watches, mostly relieved that you weren't angry and that he wouldn't have to break up a fight.
"Give me a hug you idiot…" You grumble and wipe your eyes. Sunwoo gives a panicked wheeze, locking eyes with Changmin and Youngjae. They both just wave him off.
"Okay okay, don't cry." He says and gives in, pulling you close and patting your back.
The others watch from a bit away, soft smiles on their faces, almost forgetting why you two are in that situation in the first place.
But then the bell rang, snapping you all out of your thoughts.
Changmin drags you by your wrist, Chanhee on your other side as they lead the way to your next class.
"Are you feeling better now, Y/N?" Chanhee softly asks from your left side and you turn to look at him.
"I feel okay now, thank you for worrying." You reply and flash the taller man a quick smile.
Changmin intertwined his fingers with yours. It's nothing new, the two of you used to do that ever since you became friends.
"Chanhee Hyung, where is the literature classroom again?"
The oldest of you three thinks for a moment and looks at the numbers next to the doors. "It's room 371."
"Ahh thank you~" Changmin happily replies and you guys make your way into the room.
Chanhee stretches his long limbs after the bell chimed, indicating the end of the class. "Today's lesson was pretty intense, don't you guys think?"
"Yeah, there was a lot." Changmin frowns a little. "Y/N how were you holding up?"
Your head shoots up in surprise, caught off guard while packing your stuff. "Uh- It was alright. I understood most of it actually."
Both men give you weird looks. "You never understand stuff in literature, what happened?" Changmin says with furrowed brows.
"I think it's because she actually paid attention this time." Chanhee adds with a chuckle, "She looked so concentrated, it was cute."
You feel your body heating up and avert your eyes. "Whatever, let's go."
The two men exchange amused glances but don't speak on it any further, opting to just follow you out of the building.
You didn't expect to run into this particular person when you exited through the large glass doors.
After all, he got expelled for using his powers on campus and a few other things.
"Hyunjun?"

✧ Childhood best friend typa deal (but it shall evolve muhahaha)
Tumblr media
“Naga, what am I going to do?” You asked helplessly, looking deep into her polar bear dog eyes for any semblance of guidance or wisdom. Instead you saw a profound blackness that seemed devoid of thought. As she gave you a happy lick on the cheek you sighed and gave her a pat, moving on to the next confidant you had chosen.
“Okay. No help from you today. How about you Oogi?”
Oogi gave you the very telling response of the slow blink of his eyes.
“Very insightful Oogi, but not exactly what I need.” You now turned to the fire ferret, hoping the look in your eyes would indicate your need of a companion. “Pabu, please! Give me anything. Our other friends don’t want to listen today.” His ears perked up in attention as he shuffled his way over before taking a seat in front of you.
“I knew you would help!” You exclaimed, giving him soft scratch behind his ear. “Here’s the issue,” You began, taking a seat in front of him. “You know Korra? She’s the avatar, it’s kind of a big deal. Anyways. She’s leaving soon and if she leaves now I might never get the chance to tell her again!”
While your statement was a bit dramatic, it did hold a semblance of truth. You were one of the new air benders, and a pretty good one at that. After a long and arduous station in a recovering Earth kingdom city you had returned to Air Temple Island for a bit. You returned to Air Temple Island at an opportune time it seemed given that the Avatar and her friends were all gathering.
“Now why is that a problem you might ask, and what do you have to tell her you also might ask.” You said, getting up to pace around the fire ferret. “One, I think she’s really amazing.” At your words Pabu seemed to nod. “Two, uh.” You started, although your face began to grow hot. “I’ve known her a long time, we basically grew up together. It took me a while to realize it but whenever I was around her things felt different.”
Your father was one of the men Tenzin had entrusted to keep Korra safe as she mastered the elements, and he was quite proud of it. You were one of the only friends Korra had growing up besides Naga, and despite annoying you occasionally she was still your favorite of them all.
You remembered sparring with her the most, you were a non-bender at the time and prided yourself in being able to keep up with the avatar in combat. You always begged her not to go easy on you and for the most part she didn’t, she wasn’t that type of person. She was the type of person to get hyper-invested in the penguin sledding race you were having and either become extremely giddy when she won or excessively annoyed and challenge you again when she lost, and you loved that.
There’s that word again, love. You gulped as you looked towards Pabu with soft eyes. “When she left the Southern Water Tribe it hurt. A lot. That’s not her fault, it would have hurt anyways and it was best for her to leave. I just can’t help but wonder what would have happened if I had went with her.”
The day that Korra passed her fire bending exam and was permitted to begin training in air bending was momentous for the both of you.
“(Y/N)! I get to start my air bending training! Tenzin’s coming today.” She exclaimed as she slammed the door open to your uncle’s steamed dumpling shop. The power of her slam and the door against the wall caused the dumplings to fly right off of the old man in the shop’s plate.
“Oh. Sorry about that.” She said as she awkwardly scratched the back of her head and gave her signature avatar slanted smile.
“You’re the Avatar!” He said in surprise, only slightly disappointed by the lack of dumplings in front of him.
“Congratulations!” You ran towards her from behind the counter engulfing her in a big hug. She hugged back passionately, gripping you as tightly as she could. You began to get lost in her presence, her scent, the feeling of her frame against yours. Blush began to spread across your face as you felt her firm muscles against you, but also the softness of her chest.
You both pulled back slightly, looking each other in the eyes. Your heart felt as if it were going to burst out of your chest and you wondered if she felt it too. There was something so sweet about her face, about the way she looked at you with her blue eyes. It made your chest feel tight.
“How did you even get here? You shouldn’t be sneaking out so much!” You whispered with a smile, your love struck eyes still holding her gaze.
Despite your words you knew fairly well that she could handle the guards as you thought back to the time she had gotten in trouble for fighting a group of them – and winning might you add – although she would never tell you why.
“Don’t worry about that.” She said, pausing before looking you over. Embarrassed you averted your gaze to look downwards. “You’re my best friend. I love you, you know that right? I always will.”
There it went. You were pretty sure you watched your heart soar out of your chest and into the heavens. Instead of responding you just hugged her harder, nuzzling yourself in the crook of her neck.
I could stay here forever. You thought to yourself, although it seemed fate had other plans
“Uh. Not to interrupt, but could I get the check?” The old man asked as he looked at the two of you with questioning eyes.
“Yes, yes. Of course, I’m sorry! I’ll throw some extra dumplings in for the road.”
After that day, well she was pretty much gone. You desperately wanted to go with her but you had responsibilities in the water tribe. She had them elsewhere, it pained you but it seemed like fate just didn’t want the two of you together.  You saw her once a year later while visiting your aunt in Republic City, before her battle against Vaatu. She was with someone who was seemingly her boyfriend and a very pretty woman who appeared to be her friend.
In that moment your heart froze wondering what to do. You hadn’t spoken to her in so long and didn’t want to intrude but at the same time the Korra that you knew would have been happy if you did.
The fire nation boy leaned closer to her and grabbed her hand as they walked. You looked at Korra and the two people surrounding her, they were definitely cooler than you. Your heart fell as you watched them at the table across from you and your aunt in the park, they seemed to be getting ready to go.
Maybe she’d be embarrassed to see me with her new friends. You thought, still contemplating whether you were going to say something. Then she looked up, Korra had locked eyes with you. The same warm eyes that looked at you as she told you she loved you, although now she was looking at you with confusion splayed across her face.
Her friends were already up and about to leave. When she noticed you were looking back she quickly got up to join them as well, her boyfriend giving her a quick kiss on the cheek. You saw her mouth move to tell him something and then both their eyes were on you again while attempting to be indiscreet. Keyword being attempted. You noticed and it haunted you for the longest time, maybe she really was embarrassed to see you in public.
“Anyways, the next time I saw her was here. I haven’t said anything yet and I don’t think she’s seen me but I need to air my grievances Pabu.” The ferret moved to nuzzle up besides you and you thanked him by petting him softly. “Also, I think the biggest problem is. I still have feeling for her.”
“You like Korra!?” You jumped in surprise, looking at Pabu with your mouth agape before realizing it was not the fire ferret that spoke but instead a wide-eyed earth bender. Gasping you stumbled backwards as you instinctively air bended at Bolin. His eyes widened as the gust of air had thrust him backwards causing him to land on his behind. Feeling bad you rushed over, inspecting him as he rubbed the back of his head.
“You shouldn’t spy on people like that!”
“(Y/N)! No, no, no, no! It wasn’t anything like that I swear! I was just looking for Pabu and then I heard you speaking and-” He prattled on. You looked at him and sighed knowing he wouldn’t be the type of person to do something like that. The two of you had gotten to know each other very well when your paths had collided in the Earth Kingdom.
“Just don’t tell anyone, okay?” You asked hesitantly, scanning the man who now held a deep deep secret of yours.
“Don’t worry (Y/N), my lips are sealed.” He said as he made a motion of zipping up his mouth with his hands. For some reason you didn’t fully trust him. “Some call me Bolin, the master of keeping secrets.” He continued.
“Yeah, yeah. I get it, just please Bolin promise me.” His eyes softened as he heard your voice waver.
“I promise. Plus, this might be the best accident to ever happen to you.” Your eyebrows shot up at his response.
“How so?”
“Because you now have the best wing-man and wing-ferret on your case, and I’ve got a plan.”
You watched as Bolin smiled excitedly, ready to tell you his plan. You knew it might not be the wisest to go with it but as you thought of Korra you sighed. What other option did you have?
“Okay. I’m in.”

No. Six
A/N: i actually wrote something, bloody hell (no, this isn’t Umbrella Academy despite what the title says)
Tumblr media
Growing up in Birmingham wasn’t pretty.
Literally and figuratively.
Growing up in a family of six was even worse.
Over her nineteen years of being alive, Y/N Shelby had often wondered who or what she’d wronged in a past life to deserve being the youngest of a family of idiots. When Polly used to make her go to church on Sunday – something she’d stopped doing as soon as she could because if God was real, why was the world so shite? – she often silently asked what she’d done wrong and how she could fix it.
It wasn’t that she didn’t like her family – love was a very strong word, one that wasn’t said… at all, really – they just drove her up the wall.
Ada was the one sibling who rarely managed to annoy her - the two only succeeding in driving each other insane twice and, even then, it wasn’t for long.
Her twin brother, Finn (who was only ten minutes older but seemed to think he was a whole year older), was the main culprit behind her exasperation. He wasn’t the brightest tool in the toolbox and it often led Y/N to wonder how on earth he’d survived nineteen years on the planet without even coming close to dying.
“I didn’t mean to stab myself,” Finn muttered as Ada prodded the stab wound, he’d somehow given himself whilst chopping carrots. “I thought it was the carrot.”
“Well, they do have a similar resemblance,” Y/N replied. She was sitting on the kitchen table, legs swinging back and forth, as she tried not to enjoy her brother’s pain too much.
Finn turned his head to glare at her sister, regretting it almost instantly when he accidentally looked at his very bloody hand. “Oh, fuck.”
Arthur sighed and handed Finn a bucket, begrudgingly rubbing his back as he threw up. “Alright, you’re fine.”
“Somewhere out there a tree is working very hard to replace the oxygen you consume,” Y/N said, scooting across the table, away from Finn. “Now go apologise to it.”
“You’re one too talk,” Finn groaned, head in the bucket.
“Finn, love, everything that comes out of my mouth is pure gold,” Y/N replied, picking up a piece of chicken from the plate next to her. “You lot just never fucking listen.”
“Y/N, you’re not helping,” Ada snapped, taking a moment to glare at her sister.
Y/N licked her fingers and sighed. “I know… I’ve just got nothing better to do than annoy you lot.”
When Finn wasn’t causing complete havoc in the household, it was usually John.
Despite being married – twice – and a father to far, far too many children, John still acted as if he was a child. Y/N had lost count of the amount of times she’d been woken up by John falling down the stairs because he was too drunk to remember that they went around a corner.
Out of all four of her brothers, however, John was – not that she would ever admit aloud to anyone – her favourite. He always seemed to know when she needed cheering up or when she need someone to take her mind of things.
As a rule, the Shelby’s were not a very affectionate family, but John was the exception to that rule. He gave the best hugs – the one’s that could almost piece every broken part of you back together again – and he wasn’t afraid to show his soft side to his siblings.
That didn’t stop him from being a complete twat, however.
“I was going to ask how, but then I remembered I don’t care,” Y/N said, frowning at John who had, somehow, managed to get his car wedged between a wall and tree.
John sighed, hanging his head. “Y/N, for once in your fucking life, can you just help and not make a sarcastic comment?”
“John, you’re the one who taught me to be that way,” Y/N replied, jumping down from her car and walking over to him. “Besides, what exactly do you want me to do about it?”
“I don’t know!” John yelled, throwing his hands up. “Fucking fix it?”
Y/N sighed, leaning on the bonnet of her car, crossing her arms. “Have you tried pushing it out?”
“Yes.”
“Driving it forward?”
“Yes.”
“Moved the branches?”
“Yes.”
“Have you tried reversing it out?”
John paused, frowning slightly. “Ah, fucking hell.”
“You’re welcome,” Y/N called, jumping back into her car. She reversed it back far enough for John to reverse his car out – albeit with a lot of screeching and swearing from both him and the car.
Tommy and Arthur never, usually, caused an issue.
Well, for Y/N, anyway.
The age gap between her and her two oldest brothers meant they’d never really gotten close or had a chance to actually be siblings. Y/N rarely talked to them since neither one was around much, both off running the company.
She saw more of Arthur than she did Tommy. She normally saw him at the Garrison when she was working – because god forbid a woman who wasn’t married be allowed to work for the Shelby Company – and she was often the one to kick him out and send him home.
Arthur was more of a parental figure in her life than a brother. Y/N didn’t remember her mother and had no recollection of their father ever being in their lives – all she remember was Arthur being the one to look out for her.
“Evening,” Y/N said as Arthur sat down at the bar, taking his hat off and burying his head in his hands.
“Mmhm,” Arthur muttered, his head dropping onto the counter with a loud thud.
Y/N turned around, setting aside the glasses she was drying, and grabbed a fresh bottle of whiskey and two glass. She placed them down and poured the whiskey out.
“On the house,” Y/N said, sliding the glass over to her brother. “Well, since you own it, it’s your own shit so who cares.”
She reached over and clinked her glass with his as Arthur looked up at her, a puzzled expression on his face. Y/N looked at him and raised an eyebrow as she swallowed the sip of whiskey she’d taken.
“Oh, what?” Y/N asked, knowing the look on her brother’s face never meant anything good.
“You’re not usually this nice,” Arthur said, picking up his glass.
“Well, I am to Polly and Ada.”
“My fucking point.”
Y/N smiled, chuckling as she finished her drink. “Well, being the youngest of six does mean all concept of ‘nice’ goes out the fucking window.”
Arthur chuckled, shaking his head as he downed his drink in one, slamming the glass back on to the table. “You know, it’s still weird seeing you in here, working… living. I keep thinking you should be back at the house, in bed or getting ready for school. Yet, here you are, wearing John’s old shirt and trousers –“
“Nah, this is your shirt,” Y/N corrected.
Despite what many people thought, Y/N wasn’t opposed to the skirts and dresses her aunt and sister wore. She just didn’t like them as much. It made running and breaking up bar fights considerably harder.
Y/N had realised that Tommy and Arthur never really bothered to mend the shirts and trousers that got holes in them. They just threw them out because they had the money to just buy new ones. Y/N – who had never quite gotten to grips with the fact they had money now – always rescued the clothes from the bin or pile of scraps and mended them enough to let her wear them.
They were always far too big, but she just rolled the waist band up or wore a belt with them and it tended to do the job.
Y/N slid the bottle of whiskey over to Arthur and nudged his hand. “Don’t seem so surprised. I never quite got over the fact we don’t have to be frugal anymore, so I took your old clothes – and Tommy’s, too – and mended them up and wore them myself. Besides, I look a lot hotter in these than I do a dress. I think it’s the waist band, it does wonders for my hips.”
Arthur scoffed, shaking his head as he poured himself another dink. “Y/N Shelby, you are a fucking wonder to me.”
“Why, because I’m nothing like you or Tommy?” Y/N asked, drying another glass. “You don’t see it, Arthur, but I’m a lot more like the both of you than you think. I can just hide my hatred of the world.”
Tommy was, if Y/N had to say, the sibling she had the worse relationship with. Over the years she’d realised that she was far too like her brother for them to ever get along because Tommy just constantly saw himself in her. She would’ve loved to have a better relationship with him – she was always envious of how close Ada was with him – but eventually just realised it would never happen.
Because Y/N was the spitting image of her brother, she just hid it all better.
The one and only time Y/N and Tommy had a meaningful sibling moment that didn’t involve yelling and screaming at one another was shortly after Grace had died. Y/N hadn’t seen him in weeks – he’d disappeared off the face of the earth entirely without a word – but she’d found him one night, sitting on a hill, by himself.
She’d been out riding, gotten lost and – long story short – had somehow found herself at Tommy’s house despite starting out over ten miles away.
Tommy had looked up as she rode up to him and had frowned slightly, looking around to check that it was, indeed, night time.
“What the hell are you doing here?” He asked as she walked up to him.
Y/N waved a hand. “Got lost, long story. More importantly,” she said, kneeling down opposite him and warming her hands in front of the fire, “why are you moping up here in the cold?”
“Doubt you’d understand, Y/N,” Tommy muttered, taking a sip of his flask.
Y/N sighed to herself, sitting cross-legged on the cold grass and leaning back on her hands. She looked up at Tommy, eyes scanning him. “Tommy, you’ve probably heard the same fucking apology speech a dozen times this past week from a dozen different people. None have helped because you blame yourself for what happened.
“Our family isn’t one for affection and, well, for being nice to each other. We never used to even be able to have a conversation without screaming at one another so, whilst I’m almost certain you are high, I’m going to add this one to the list of successful conversations.
“Tommy, look. Life is… shit. But we all knew that already. It doesn’t get any easier. It gets a whole lot worse. Losing Grace will be one of the hardest things you’ll have to live with, and you will always run that moment over in your head, wondering ‘what if?’. But, what’s the point in dwelling in the past so much you forget what a gift the present is.”
“And what fucking gift is the present gonna give me, eh?” Tommy asked, glancing at his sister, his tone cold. “My wife is dead, because of me.”
“Yet your son is still alive.”
Tommy’s cold eyes flicked up to look at Y/N. His brow furrowed slightly as he took in her words. He raised his cigarette to his lips and took a long drag of it.
“Tommy, we don’t get to decide who lives and who dies, despite what you think,” Y/N said quietly, leaning forward, her face being lit up by the fire in front of her. “Nor do we get to decide who tells our story. But, your son, is still alive and breathing. If anyone is going to tell your story and be the one to continue on your legacy, it will be him.”
Y/N stood up, dusting the leaves off the bottom of her jacket. She gave Tommy a small smile and turned around, walking back to her horse.
Tommy watched his sister as she rode off without another word, leaving him and his thoughts alone once more.

A Silent Night
Hufflepuff!Reader X Draco
Am I allowed to look at her like that? Could it be wrong When she's just so nice to look at?
I'd never tell No, I'd never say a word And oh, it aches But it feels oddly good to hurt
Chapter One     Chapter Two    Chapter Three
Summary: Winter break promises soft moments in the snow and laughter... or does it? There’s a darkness looming ahead and it’s harder to escape now than ever before. It doesn’t help at all with how you two feel about another.
A/N: Alright! Y’all told me to follow my heart so here’s about 7k words of a winter holiday that has fluff and angst. Also She by Dodie was on repeat as I wrote this (the lyrics are above). If you’re like me and need music to read, give that song a shot. Also I 100% stan Narcissa in this chapter. There were a lot more cute moments I wanted to add, and rewrote a lot of this, so if you want a headcanon list of things that were going to happen let me know! (Welcome to Christmas in the middle of the summer)
Tumblr media
~
Miss Y/n,
It delights me that you have invited us to your home for the holiday. Draco speaks adamantly about you whenever his father is not around. I must apologize for having him keep you from his father’s knowledge. I know it pains him to have to keep you hidden, but I fear at the moment it is for the best.
I must thank you for your understanding and kindness. The burden that he bears is steep and I wish nothing more to see him through it and to keep him safe. You have taken years off of his eyes and heart and now I can begin see my young son shining through.
Draco and I will accompany you for the holiday. Lucius will be away all of the winter holiday and I feel as if it would do Draco some good to see you as it aided him over the summer holiday. I have written a letter to your mother as well, so she is aware. Draco will arrive in the morning of the 24th and I shall join him later in the evening for dinner.
You are a bright and wonderful young wizard with a heart so pure to see what I see in my son. The same thing that keeps us both fighting for him. Thank you for everything you have given. I am in your debt for bringing back my son even for a little while.
Narcissa Malfoy
~
I read the letter again as I sat in bed late at night. Tomorrow would be the day that Draco came for Christmas and butterflies had a permanent residence in my chest. I put the energy to good use and spent the few days scrubbing the entire house top to bottom and decorating every square inch. Mother taught me a few new cleaning spells to use and I was getting pretty good at them.
The morning came and I was up before the sun making sure that everything was perfect for when Draco would get here. Not that I thought he would judge me for anything out of place, but I had a sinking feeling that he hadn’t had a proper Christmas in a while, and I wanted things to be almost perfect if not completely.
Keeping myself busy with peeling and cutting apples for a pie, I heard the doorbell ring and almost tripped on my way to opening it.
Draco was there, an amused smile on his face as his eyes darted over my form.
“Hi,” I breathed out, grinning.
“Hello,” His expression was amused and his voice quiet. “Nice apron,”
I flushed, remembering I donned my grandmothers cooking apron that had tiny little snitches buzzing about the fabric.
It wasn’t fair that he looked so angelic on my front porch, almost at home among the snow. He was a bit more formal than I was used to seeing him: a blazer and turtleneck all in dark colors. It only enhanced the contrast of his pale features and the snow. I led him inside, closing the door. Shedding his jacket and setting down his bag, he followed me to the kitchen where I continued to chop apples. He took one, unpeeled from my pile and took a bite.
“Those are mine,” I baited. “Now you have to help,” As if it were the only option.
“Oh, I do? Do I?” He smirked, taking another bite and grabbing a knife.
He watched me for a moment, as if he wasn’t sure what to do before he began to slice the apples the way I did, narrowly missing his fingers a few times. I tried hard not to laugh as I finished chopping up two to his half of one.
It earned me a small pout from him. Laughing this time, I pecked his cheek and took our harvest and a large bowl filled with the rest of the filling ingredients and tossed them in, mixing them with my hands until they were all incorporated evenly. Draco studied me all the while.
“Can you hand me a pie crust from the fridge?” I asked, rinsing my hands. Frowning at the refrigerator he opened it and scanned the shelves.
“Middle shelf, blue ceramic,” I hinted.
He pulled the right dish out and set it on the counter. I lifted the bowl of filling and started to pan it into the doughy crust.
“Here,” I nudged him and nodded to the precut strips of dough on the counter. “We weave them to make a lattice.”
I showed him how to do the first few then left him to it, watching his slender fingers with such care create the woven pattern. Taking a fork, I pressed down the sides of the dough, sealing them then placing the pie in the fridge to be baked later.
“I think that was the most muggle thing I’ve ever done,” he muttered softly, pulling me into his arms properly for the first time since he arrived.
“Not too bad I hope?”
“Nothing unbearable,” he teased.
“Oh, Draco,” my mother greeted making us jump apart. “I didn’t hear you come in darling,”
“Mrs. Y/l/n,” Draco greeted politely.
“It’s so nice of you to join us. Y/n has hardly been able to keep quiet about your arrival,”
I flushed red and rolled my eyes nonchalantly and Draco chuckled, offering his hand for my mother to shake.
“Thank you for the invitation,” I recognized the tone he use: the same one that was present at the Ball from the summer, the one he used when he had someone to impress.
“None of that, really,” My mother scoffed pulling him into a hug that made me laugh. “You’re family here,” She insisted the turned to me. “Well cookies still need to be made before tonight, Y/n you know what to do. I’ll be out for a bit,” my mother gave me a hug before hurrying out the door.
“Cookies?” Draco mused sounding unsure.
I grinned and took out the ingredients to make sugar cookies from scratch and taught Draco how to make them. He padded around my small kitchen in cashmere socks. It warmed my heart to see him so domestic.
Rolling out the dough, I started to press the cookie cutters into the thin confectionary and Draco crowded next to me, taking another cutter and stamping the dough. Preheating the oven, I left him to cut out the little shapes as I began to work on peeling potatoes and sweet potatoes.
“Don’t you have house elves?” He asked, leaning against the counter, finishing his apple, watching me.
“No,” I spoke softly. “Father never liked the notion, and I guess mother kept it that way...” I took a breath in. “And these skills aren’t the worst things to know,” I smiled. “Will you start dicing these?” I gestured to the peeled potatoes with my peeler.
“I suppose,” He mused, picking up the same knife we had used for apples and began to cut the potatoes into small cubes.
When the oven went off, I got up and slipped as many trays of cookies as I could into the oven and set the timer. Throwing the cubed potatoes into a pot, I filled it with water about half-way and set it on the stove to boil.
Draco followed me around the kitchen all morning, helping where he could, confused about some things I did, but there was an explanation for everything. Around lunchtime my mother returned, arms filled with parcels and packages. Last minute shopping I supposed. She shooed us out of the kitchen and outside after lunch.
After a short argument—I didn’t see a need for things like gloves, a scarf or a beanie, but Draco put his foot down and bundled me up—Draco and I were both clad in winter gear and walking outside along the few acres that my mother and I shared together. Our hands intertwined; we didn’t speak much, just enjoyed the quiet moment together. The butterflies in my chest fluttered happily.
“Want to let Pinnae fly?” He asked, thoughtful.
“Maybe later,” I leaned against him. “Don’t wanna fly when you’re still on the ground,”
I caught his eyeroll in the corner of my vision and the redness on his cheeks darken slightly.
“My mother is quiet taken with you; you know.” Draco gave off-hand.
I hummed in acknowledgement thinking of the letter sitting on my bedside table. We meandered around the grounds, heading back to the front porch and inside to warm up.
“Reading anything riveting?” Draco teased as we curled up in the den by the fire.
I laughed softly and stood, taking his hand. I ignored his questioning and led him to the room adjacent from mine: my studio. The entire back wall was covered in floor to ceiling bookshelves holding all of the books, both muggle and wizarding, I had collected over the years.
_________________________________
Draco stared at the wall of books and trinkets. Some he recognized: old textbooks from prior years and items like a Sneakscope and Timeturner. Some things were clearly muggle: the pictures that didn’t move or the snow-globes that weren’t enchanted.
He had never seen so many muggle books resting so peacefully next to wizarding books. Some were new and the gold leaf still shined at him whereas others were dull and faded and he could barely make out the titles. Carefully he ran his fingers over the spine of the nearest book.
“Pride and Prejudice?” He muttered, frowning looking at the cluster of Jane Austen books.
“Sense and Sensibility is better,” You mumbled, and his eyes flickered to the well-worn book beside its sister. “And it’s too complicated for me to try and pay attention to right now. Get out of Jane Austen,” You advised, pulling him a bit further down.
“Of Mice and Men?” He mused, looking at the smaller book that was also well worn.
“Ugh,” You scoffed. “Awful ending.”
“Then why are you keeping it?” He gave you a pointed look.
“Not all books have happy endings, it would be stupid to only keep the ones that did,” You whispered softly.
His eyes followed the names of the books not being able to distinguish one from another— Animal Farm, The Princess Bride, Catcher in the Rye, Lord of the Flies, The Great Gatsby, The Scarlett Letter, The Crucible, The Phantom of the Opera, Fahrenheit 451. His eyes passed over your Chronicles of Narnia collection, one book missing—the one that he had.
“Romeo and Juliet?” His eyebrows furrowed.
The name was familiar to him for some reason. The book nested between Taming of the Shrew and Macbeth.
A laugh bubbled through your lips, a quiet amused sound.
“That’s worse than Pride and Prejudice,” You giggled. “Have you ever read Shakespeare?”
His eyes flashed to yours. You knew that answer. No, of course he hadn’t. Rolling your eyes, you took the book of the shelf and flipped to a random page of the wellworn book.
“Tis but thy name that is my enemy;
Thou art thyself, though not a Montague.
What's Montague? it is nor hand, nor foot,
Nor arm, nor face, nor any other part
Belonging to a man. O, be some other name!
What's in a name? that which we call a rose
By any other name would smell as sweet;”
You looked at him and he blinked, his mind unravelling the words. It was almost worse than Divination books.
“They’re plays,” You explained. “Takes a lot of studying and there are versions that have a bit more updated English, but well,” You shrugged and slipped the book back into its place.
“Are they all like that?” He asked, looking at the row of Shakespeare books.
“Pretty much,” You sighed. “Here,” You reached across him and next to your Austen books, pulled out a book. “This should be a good book to read.”
“A Christmas Carol?” He read the title off the faded cover.
“It’s a classic,” You took his hand again and he let you lead him downstairs and back to the small sitting room with the lit fire and curled up on the couch under an afghan.
You began to read A Christmas Carol, and again he was lost in your words and expressions:
“Marely was dead, to begin with. There is no doubt whatever about that. The register of his burial was signed by the clergyman, the clerk, the undertaker, and the chief mourner. Scrooge signed it. And Scrooge’s name was good upon ’Change, for anything he chose to put his hand to.
Old Marley was as dead as a doornail.
Mind! I don’t mean to say that I know, of my own knowledge, what there is particularly dead about a doornail. I might have been inclined, myself, to regard a coffin-nail as the deadest piece of ironmongery in the trade. But the wisdom of our ancestors is in the simile; and my unhallowed hands shall not disturb it, or the Country’s done for. You will therefore permit me to repeat, emphatically, that Marley was as dead as a doornail”
Just as you began to read of the first ghost that came to Scrooge on Christmas Eve, your mother came into the small den.
“Y/n, Draco’s mother will be here within the hour, you need to get ready,” She eyed your casual attire of jeans and an oversized sweater.
You huffed and handed Draco the book, he kept the page and watched you head upstairs, sulking only slightly. It was such a you thing to do—complaining about being taken away from your book and forced to prepare to socialize.
Your mother hovered in the den and took a seat at the armchair adjacent to the sofa he resided on. He tensed, ready for backlash against the something he must have done wrong, but an amused smile reached your mother’s lips—one that he had seen on you more than a fair share of times. You didn’t look much like your mother, the only thing Draco found was that you two shared the same smile.
“I have to thank you Draco,” She spoke softly. “She is my entire world since her father passed, and I always feared that she would never let herself open up. You have done her a lot of good, and I know that her father would approve of you,” There was your smile on her lips again.
“I must thank you as well,” Draco spoke in the same soft manor. “For allowing her to be with me and for Pinnae. I know she probably would have found a way to do it anyway, but it means the world to her to have your support, as it does to me,” His eyes met the same shade as your eyes as he looked up—another similarity. “And I must apologize for the last month of summer. I thought I was keeping her safe by keeping her away,”
“All is forgiven, darling,” The pet name on your mother’s lips reminded him of his own mother’s habit. “Merlin knows I’ve tried to keep her from things to keep her safe... but she has a way of finding herself there anyway,”
“She is stubborn like that,” Draco mused, thinking of the first night that he knew of your Animagus.
“Yes, she is,” Your mother sighed.
“Is she staying healthy?” He asked. “I know she has a habit of not keeping warm,”
Your mother mulled over the question then spoke.
“The winter has been affecting her more than before, she’s up half the night and sleeps half the day.” There was a soft sigh in her voice as worry blossomed in Draco’s chest at the new information. “She’s getting enough sleep and enough to eat, but I do worry about her. Ever since the change, she’s a bit more spontaneous in her sleeping habits.” The latter information pacified some of his worry.
“It’ll probably take some time for her to figure out,” He said mostly for his benefit. “But she won’t be alone in doing so,” He vowed.
“I know,” Your mother rose, smiling at him once more. “She might not have many friends, but the ones she does have are the most loyal I’ve ever seen,”
He nodded, thinking of Abby and even Pansy.
There was a chime from in the house and your mother rose heading to the foyer. Draco knew that it would be his mother at the door and stood as well. Greetings were made and just as your mother was about to call up to you, you descended the stairs, in a deep green dress he had never seen before. The fabric hugged you to your waist where it then flowed loosely to you knees. The long sleeves and high collar gave him comfort that you would be warm. The sheer black stockings you had paired with the dress seconded that comfort.
Draco gaped at you, deciding that he loved you in green. The night of the summer ball flashed in his mind and the green dress you wore then. He knew that it was stupid to give into house colors with you but Merlin you looked great in Slytherin colors.
“Mrs. Malfoy,” You greeted with the same decorum as the Ball.
“Miss Y/n,” His mother smiled. “It has been too long my dear,”
You flushed and looked down, coming to stand beside him, your hand slipping into his as your mother led the lot of you all into the dining room. It was just as immaculately decorated as the rest of the house, though nothing was overdone or gaudy. It was simple, classy.
Your mother must have taken over cooking to allow you to spend the rest of the day with him, explaining the heavenly smells that emitted from the kitchen all day. There was something different about the food at your home. It was a bit messy and not all of the dishes matched and not everything was perfect, but Draco almost preferred it that way. He had spent too long in perfection; it was nice to have something new.
His mother spoke respectfully to you, asking you about your classes this year and how they had gone. A few times he had to nudge you before you slipped up about Pinnae accidently. Draco would never get over how much his mother absolutely adored you. You had stolen into her heart the same way you had his. If only you could do the same with his father.
As dinner ended, you rose to clear the table, and he joined you, having never done such a thing in his life. You set things carefully on the clean counters of the kitchen and it only took a few trips to rid the table of dinner and replace it with dessert.
__________________________________
I kept my eye on Draco all throughout dinner, worried that something might go wrong. Narcissa proved to be no trouble and his father was never in the topic of discussion. I still knew that Draco missed his father the same way that I missed mine on the holidays.
“Well, I must thank you for your hospitality, but I’m afraid I must be off now,” Narcissa rose gracefully with a kind smile. “Draco, be home before too long yes?”
Draco gave a curt nod as my mother saw Narcissa to the door. Draco slumped beside me, both of our facades falling.
“Well, that could have been worse,” I mused.
He chuckled and rubbed his face. I could see the weariness in his features.
“Dray?” I asked softly.
“When did everything get so complicated?” He mumbled.
I sighed and laid my head on his shoulder. He pressed a kiss to the top of my head and wrapped an arm around me.
“At least there’s presents? And Christmas? And us?” I offered. He hummed in acknowledgment.
Now that it was the Christmas season, I could officially watch The Sound of Music—a Christmas classic at home.
Draco studied me as I set up the DVR and hit play, curling up beside him on the couch. Since it was winter, the sun had set some time ago, leaving us in a soft darkness. The credits began to roll, and I laid my head on Draco’s shoulder, curling under an afghan.
“This is ridiculous,” He muttered halfway through.
I shushed him. I felt him sigh as his arm draped around my shoulders.
“Are you two ready?” My mother asked, coming in with three mugs.
“Ready?” Draco murmured in my ear as I sat up.
“Presents?” I grinned. “We do them on Christmas Eve, it’s our tradition. Then we undecorate on Christmas Day.”
“What?”
“Her father always insisted that as soon as Christmas is over all the decorations should come down. So, we take them down tomorrow.” My mother explained, handing us both mugs.
With the parcels covered in shiny paper distributed, I watched Draco marvel at the number of gifts in his lap. I nudged his shoulder letting him know that it was alright to start.
I started with my mother’s present to me—a new cloak that was a silvery white, matching Pinnae’s feathers. I thanked her and undid the recognizable paper from Abby’s gift. It was a leather-bound photo album. Frowning, I opened the cover and saw Abby and I as little kids dressed up as princesses. I smiled at the photo and ran my hand over the giggling girls. I looked over to Draco, wanting to show him and I paused; he was lost deep in the delicate pages of my gift to him: the entire Narnia collection in one leather bound book.
“It’s charmed,” I explained softly. “If it’s not me or you to open the book it reverts to an old book of spells,”
“Really?” He sounded surprised, not looking up from the carpet pages of finely detailed artwork.
“Mom helped me with the magic,” I stole a glance her way and she was beaming at us.
She stood quietly and gave me a look, leaving us alone in the den to have a few last moments alone.
“You mean you didn’t read me the first book?” He muttered.
“Well, you walked in on me reading the second one,” I poked his side. “Here, this is from Abby,” I placed the photo album between us.
I opened the first page and he laughed at the picture of Abby and I. “You were such a dorky kid,” He chuckled.
“Yeah well,” I rolled my eyes.
The next page was our first day at Hogwarts, my hair was still impossibly long as Abby and I sat together on the Hogwarts Express. I laughed and pointed out Draco sulking in the background of the photo.
“Creep,” I teased.
The photos were a mix of muggle and magic, some moving, some static. Abby and I through the years: getting sorted into Hufflepuff, Christmases, summer vacations. Then there was a page that didn’t hold a photo, but a note:
From Ernie, Blaise, Hannah, Emme, Pansy and me~
The next page held a photo Draco and I at the third task, sitting in the stands. I felt secondhand awkwardness from the two of us in the photo. It was minutes before my entire world ended... or had just begun. The next photo was two of us in the hospital wing, fast asleep in each other’s arms. I ran my fingers over the photo.
Draco took the book from my hands and studied the photos, drawing the album closer to his face. I looked over his shoulder as he slowly flipped through the pages. Each of them was dated and titled:
Draco chasing off after Y/n, Yule Ball, June 21st
Draco and Y/n, Yule Ball, June 21st
Hogwarts Express, Draco and Y/n are prefects, Sept 1st
Draco staring at Y/n and smiling, Sept 13th
Draco and Y/n walking down the hall Sept 19th
Hogsmeade Trip, Oct 5th
Halloween, Hufflepuff Common Room, Oct 31st
Gryffindor v Slytherin Quidditch match, Nov 2nd
Draco fighting Harry, Nov 2nd
Y/n worrying over Draco after the fight, Nov 2nd
Draco and Y/n sleeping together again, Nov 3rd
Late night studying, Dec 12th
Draco and Pinnae, Dec 18th
There was another note at end along with the picture of the four of us the day Pansy found out about Pinnae in the snow:
Happiness can be found even in the darkest of times if one only remembers to turn on the light.
Tears well in my eyes as I rested my chin on Draco’s shoulder. He flipped a few pages back and untucked the photo of us sleeping together in the hospital wing. His slender fingers brushed over it before slipping it into the middle of his new book.
“That’s mine,” I whispered, pressing a kiss to his neck softly.
“Not anymore,” He smiled. “You have good friends,”
“We have good friends,” I corrected him softly, wrapping my arms around his neck.
“We do,” He shifted, closing the book and setting it with his before reaching into his coat and pulling out a small satin box. “This is from me,”
I stared at the box and with a shaking hand I took it, thumbing it open. Inside was a small locket with a shifting roaring lion engraved onto the front of it and familiar words onto the back:
“He isn’t safe, but he is good,” was written in a delicate script.
“Draco, I can’t take this,” I whispered, tears welling in my eyes at the emotions that rushed in my chest at the thought and love he put into the small gift.
“You can,” He pressed. “And will. Here,” He took it from my hands and released the locking mechanism.
A scene sprung to life before me, a halo of light. Balanced on top was a forest with dancing fawns and dwarves and centaurs around a bonfire. Lyre and flute music radiated from the scene. The sight shifted to a lion roaring atop a broken stone table. Then to a familiar ship on the high seas with a dragon circling it. A battle between a man and a snake in front of a silver chair. Then again, a lion, standing tall, proud.
“Draco,” I whimpered out, closing the locket and throwing my arms around his neck. “Thank you, thank you,” Tears fell down my cheeks as I buried my face in his shoulder.
His arms curled around me as he pulled me close.
“I don’t know what’s going to happen, or what the future holds,” He murmured. “But don’t give up on me.”
“Never,” I vowed. “Course he’s not safe,” I pulled away, running a hand through his hair. “But he is good. He is king,” My fingers softly stroked his cheek.
With the locket hung around my heck, Draco and I curled up together, watching the end the Sound of Music. My fingers toyed with the locket, rubbing over it again and again, afraid that it might just disappear.
I had to bid him a good night as the hour got later and we were together on the front porch alone. Wrapping my arms around his neck, I reached up and pressed a soft kiss to his lips. He responded immediately and pulled me close deepening the kiss, his hot breath mixing with mine. He tasted like tea and apple pie, a sweet intoxicating flavor.
Draco’s hand slipped down to the small of my back, pressing me against the warmth of his body. My fingers tangled and tugged at his hair earning a low throaty sound to emit from his chest. I responded with a soft mewl.
He pulled away, his hot breaths panting across my face.
“Happy Christmas,” He breathed out.
“Mhmm,” I hummed out. “Christmas, yeah,”
He chuckled and pressed his lips back to mine fleetingly.
“Goodnight, Feathers,”
“Night, Dray,”
 ___________________________________
Draco melted into his bed that night, watching the photo of you and him sleeping peacefully. There was an amity about the both of you, there was no worry or fear on his face and yours was smiling softly as you clung to him even in your sleep. It was almost as good as the book you had given to him.
Your mother’s present was lying beside him on the bed. He wasn’t supposed to show it to you, your mother had said: it was your father’s wand.
He sighed and looked at the note that came with it:
~
Draco,
This was her father’s wand. She doesn’t know that I still have it. And she doesn’t know that it belongs to you as soon as you turn sixteen.
Lucius Malfoy killed Walter Y/l/n.
Lucius forfeited the wand, but it will respond to you. It has been a burden to me all of these years but perhaps it can find some peace with you. This is a secret that I share with you. This wand is unique: it knows to protect her, and it is loyal to you.
Keep her safe, I pass her and this wand to you, one Slytherin to another. You will always have a home in among this family.
~
He sighed and laid back in bed, twirling the wand in his hands. It was similar to his own in length. Birch with a unicorn hair. He wanted to be bitter towards your mother for keeping this secret from you, but the words she said earlier stopped him:
“Merlin knows I’ve tried to keep her from things to keep her safe...”
Was this keeping you safe? This secret that he now held? He knew that if nothing else, it had kept you a pure heart. He couldn’t imagine you’d ever give him a chance if you knew what his father did. He wondered what would have changed...
The morning came along with the small Christmas that he and his mother shared together. It was a quiet affair. He had gotten her a new bottle of ink and a golden quill for her drawings.
“This is from your father,” Her tone held disdain as she handed him a small velvet box. “It belonged to his father and now he passes it to you.”
Nested inside was nothing like the gift he had spent months making for you. Instead it was a weighty silver ring with the Malfoy crest on it. Slipping it onto his finger, the enchantment took place and resized to fit him perfectly.
“Any word of when he will return?” Draco asked, somber.
“January 10th.” His mother sighed.
Draco nodded and drifted to the sitting room that held his piano and began to play familiar Christmas melodies before shifting into his mother’s favorites. She sat behind him on the sofa, working on her embroidery as he played. His melody shifted into something new. He frowned, knowing that it wasn’t anything that he had learned before.
“Composing?” His mother mused.
He didn’t comment. Instead he chased the melody that was fading from his mind, desperate to bring it back. Then he realized that his mind was chasing after you. You were his melody. With you at the forefront of his thoughts, he spent the next few days playing and writing the composition down. When he was certain that it was perfect and represented everything that you were to him, he smiled to himself.
Draco could still have you when his father was home. He would have no idea the melody was wrapped up in you.
“It’s beautiful,” His mother commended. “She’ll love it. You can play it for her tomorrow when she visits,”
And he did. With you sitting beside him on the piano bench, he played your song to you. You were absolutely mesmerized and asked him to play it again. Without knowing it, you had taken something else his father had forced him into and turned it into something beautiful.
Sitting in the rose garden as the stars came out, the year changed. A new beginning, and you were beside him. It was a muggle tradition, but he did kiss you when midnight came. Not that you’d complain.
When you pulled away from the gentle kiss, he about said something that he had forbidden himself from ever saying. No matter how sweet you were, how kind, how long you stayed, how loyal, no matter how much he cared for you, missed you when you were gone, and vowed to keep you safe, he couldn’t say what he wanted to.
He couldn’t tell you that he loved you.
He couldn’t trap you like that. He knew his future was dark and it loomed over him. He wasn’t going to tie you to him like that.
____________________________________
I held my tongue, a thousand confessions waiting to be unfurled. But I would wait. I would wait until Draco was ready to hear them. I didn’t let myself think that a few months would change everything that had him tied down and scared. I wouldn’t coerce him into anything. I would give him time to figure out his emotions and I would wait for him to heal.
Because I loved him.
And I would love him while I waited. I would love him while he healed. I would love him as he went through darkness and despair. I would love him as years of neglect and abuse untied him. I would love him until he was ready to love me.
So, I didn’t say a word.
I spent the next week over at Draco’s, like I had in the summer, but this time, we were working on spells. Everything that I had learned from D.A. I taught to him. His mother suggested to invite Pansy and Abby over as well during the afternoons to join our efforts.
It was a lot easier to cast Disarming and Stunning spells on Pansy and Abby than it had been on Draco. Narcissa joined us one afternoon, watching us, guiding and aiding where we were failing. Draco was losing focus too easily, Pansy needed to work on her wand movements, Abby needed to pronunciate more and I needed to put my heart behind wanting to perform the spells.
“You’re thinking about them incorrectly.” Narcissa stood behind me. “Think not about the intention to attack what’s in front of you, but to protect what’s behind you. Draco, come,”
Narcissa and Draco switched places, he was standing behind me and she was before me, her wand out and raised. I took a deep breath in, understanding what she meant. I had no ill will against her, but I would protect Draco.
We bowed, entering a proper duel. She cast a hex and I blocked it easily, before rebounding it with my own jinx. She deflected it effortlessly and almost knocked me down with a Stunning spell.
“Mean it Y/n!” She coached. “You want to protect him!? You want to save him!?”
“Mother!” Draco argued.
“No,” I panted softly. “I can do this. She’s right,”
I blocked her jinx that in my deflection almost hit Draco, who dropped out of the way thankfully. Enraged I turned back to her.
“Impedimenta!” I shouted.
And it worked.
She was frozen in the snow.
“Expelliarmus!”
Her wand flew from her hand. Beaming, I undid the Impediment Hex and picked up her wand which had landed in the frost by my feet.
“Very well, my dear,” Narcissa glowed. “There is a fighter in you yet,”
Draco picked me up in a twirling hug and Pansy and Abby were all cheering. We went back to dueling, now it was more for fun than work. Narcissa watched us still, encouraging and teaching us. Until she tensed, the color draining from her face.
“Bellatrix,” She hissed, vanishing from the backyard.
Draco cursed and grabbed my hand, pulling me behind the nearest shrub. With the cloak that my mother had given to me for Christmas, I almost blended in with the snow. Pansy and Abby were crouched down with us.
“Y/n, you need to get out of here,” Draco’s eyes were fixed on the house. “Now.”
“But what about Abby?” I squeaked.
“She’ll be fine,” Pansy nodded to me. “Bella likes me, she’ll be safe with me,” I met Pansy’s stark green eyes and an agreement passed between us.
Nodding, I tried to keep my breathing under control.
“Pinnae!” Abby whispered at me as if it were obvious. “Get out of here Y/n!”
I looked at my friends and closed my eyes, morphing into Pinnae and taking perch deep within the shrub.
“Don’t go until we’ve cleared the house.” Draco ordered.
I chirped and watched them all head towards the house, disappearing inside. Then I took off into the sky.
_____________________________
“Draco, darling,” Bellatrix cooed wickedly. “You remind me so much of your father,”
“Aunt Bellatrix,” He greeted politely.
“Well, aren’t you going to introduce me to your little friends?” Her wild eyes flashed to Pansy and Abby.
“Bella,” His mother chided. “Draco was just seeing them off. And you know Parkinson. The other is a classmate.” Her voice left no room for more questions or argument.
His mother gave him a stern look and he quickly ushered Pansy and Abby through the front door. His eyes immediately scanned the skies for you. He thought he could make out your form perched on one of the barren trees, but he couldn’t be sure.
“Pansy,” He started.
“I’ve got it. Abby will talk to Pinnae. We’ll give word that she’s safe.”
Draco nodded and headed back inside, pacing the halls. He headed to his bedroom and slammed the door, casting a Silencing Charm on the room before letting out a roar of frustration. He didn’t know how much time passed as he paced the room but jumped when there was a chirp from his window.
He relaxed when he saw that the owl wasn’t you, but a screech owl, a letter tied to it’s ankle.
 ~ Malfoy,
Pinnae is home.
Parkinson
~
Draco sagged in relief and threw the letter into the fire lit in his hearth. Just once in his life he wanted a day where nothing would go wrong. He just wanted to be happy and safe with you. Was that too much to ask?
Apparently, it was for the last few days of the winter holiday.
Epilogue:
“The Dark Lord is adamant about his recruitment,” Bellatrix purred. “A fine young mind to mold into the ways of the Dark Lord.”
“He is my son, Bellatrix.” Narcissa snarled. “He is not of age until the summer. When that time comes the choice belongs to him and him alone. Until then, you have no business here,” A cold glare passed between them.
“Do I sense disloyalty?” Bellatrix tilted her head, mocking a pout. “The Dark Lord does not tolerate disloyalty, sister mine,”
“I do not belong to the Dark Lord, sister mine,” Narcissa gritted out. “Or have you forgotten?”
“No,” She scoffed. “A foolish mistake. Who else deserves loyalty but him?”
“My family,” Narcissa snapped. “And my son.”
“I am your family!” Bellatrix shouted. “Have you changed your mind about the war perhaps? Deciding to follow the footsteps of our dear sister? Or perhaps our outlawed cousin? You were admirable little sister, before you went off and married that foolish Malfoy.”
“I will not stand here and allow you to speak of my husband or my son in such a manner. You have no business here Bellatrix. Leave this place.” Narcissa’s tone was ice cold.
“His time will come Cissy, and he will belong to the Dark Lord,”
A loud crack and Narcissa was left alone in the cold house once more.
“I wouldn’t be so certain,” She whispered to the empty room.
