TWICE - DOUGHNUT M/V THEORY

- before i start, i want to say that this is my theory, so you can have different theories :)

so, basically the mv tells the story about 8 women getting killed by one guy. i will get into the details with screenshots from the mv.

first, we see nayeon in a doughnut shop. she's on a date with the murderer (there are 2 doughnuts which tells us that she isnt alone.) the guy poisoned her with a doughnut. (1/8)

second, sana is seen on a date with him. she is so in love with him that she doesnt even realize the hint on the tv. (hint: the girls are in heaven) she eats the doughnut and dies. (2/8)

then, we see momo playing with a snowman. she is in heaven but she still loves him, she made the snowman which represents the guy. also the guy poisoned her too (3/8)

we see jeongyeon on the shop too. she's probably with him because there are 2 cups. (4/8)

meanwhile, mina is seen running in a loop. first, she's happy but then she releases that something's off. she starts to worry.

after that, we see tzuyu calling someone. she tried to call mina to tell her the thing that happened to the girls but ended up calling the guy instead. the guy thought that no one knew about the poisoning so when he heard what tzuyu said, he killed her so the killing wouldnt get exposed. (he didnt poison tzuyu)

tzuyu called when chaeyoung was on a date with him, so it was too late for chaeyoung, she got poisoned too. the guy left early to kill tzuyu. at the end, we see 9 doughnuts, (8 burnt 1 alive) which proves that 8 girls were killed (6/8)

jihyo and dahyun's story is different from the others, dahyun didnt know anything about the poisoning so she gave jihyo a doughnut (white one) which killed jihyo. then there's a flashback of the girls with doughnuts. dahyun realizes what she has done (there's scene of her with jihyo's doughnut which has blood on it) and she ends up killing herself with the brown doughnut (suicide). before she dies she wrotes miss u because she misses jihyo and the others. (8/8)

- also in a scene, dahyun shoots jihyo, and jihyo falls to a snowy place (heaven) she makes 2 snow angels because she knows that dahyun will come.

-the blood on jihyo's heart is a sign of poisoning too.

at the end, we see mina in a crime scene. she sees the doughnut and she releases what happened to other girls. she ends up crying because she couldnt save them.

Examining the part right before the fight, it looks like Rie might be saying “공개하자 (gonggae haja),” or just “공개 (gonggae),” which means, “let’s go public,” so I think shadowetienne is on to something about it being a fight about going public/showing PDA.

I was today years old when I realized that the lighting in the library scene of Run Away is supposed to emulate the light a fire gives off, and in the library scene Taehyun is reading a book called Put Out The Fire while Yeonjun, who started the fire, is sleeping, and Beomgyu, who initially tried to put it out, is waking up. Soobin and Kai are in the back searching the shelves. Idk why that all feels so significant but it does ughhhhh. My guess is Taehyun has the book bc he’s the one associated with the spellbook, but Yeonjun being asleep feels really significant too.

Run Away is such a treasure trove of symbolism I want to talk to the creative team behind it so bad

Ok ok I apologize for the delayed response. I like to give asks like these my full attention and due to being ill I haven’t had the energy. However !! That being said-

Run Away as a whole is just a treasure trove tbh. Magic era will always be my favorite era. Blue Hour is my favorite tt and concept / style but if we’re talking entire eras? Magic is always that bitch.

So many little things just from Magic era have carried into the other eras and its so cool to see how the story continues to unfold and how little details are actually important to the plot despite not seeming like it at the time.

UMM so cruel summer and a lot of other songs are making a lotttt more sense now that I’ve realized the “devil” that Taylor keeps referring to is actually the music industry as a whole thanks to @keepingsecretstokeepyoutk (see this post). “He looks up grinning like a devil” // “I would’ve stayed on my knees and I damn sure never would’ve danced w the devil AT 19” // “Dear reader if you aim at the devil make sure you don’t miss.” Do you remember the Top Global Artist vid that spotify released that had cruel summer as the background song and had a bunch of cruel summer references? Yeah go back and watch that again w this context in mind 😃 Taylor (the angel) has had enough of the games and is gonna end them once and for all which is very Katniss Everdeen of her—hello the archer 🏹 if any of you have read or watched the hunger games you know how the story ends

And you'll also remember that Katniss escapes the games twice by cheating--the first time w poison berries and the second time by destroying the arena itself (which was a clock) WITH itself using a lightning strike current at midnight that shot thru her arrow -> "And there was one prize I'd cheat to win." Not to mention Katniss was the mockingjay, a symbol of rebellion and resistance. And the fire symbolism in this trilogy was meant to represent how that rebellion can spread from a spark of hope. Snow lands on top but fire melts snow. Taylor is a huge hunger games fan so I wouldn't be surprised at all if these parallels were intentional. Also I'm not the first one to notice the hunger games connections, I saw some other gaylors point this out so I can't take full credit for that

“She’s the death you chose” i.e. the music industry chose to kill Taylor (which is why TTPD is a post-mortem album) so now she’s coming back to haunt them hence the ghostly Victorian attire. “We gather here we line up weeping in a sunlit room and if I’m on fire you’ll be made of ashes too.” THIS is the karma she’s talking abt that will happen at midnight!!

Okay look, I think I'm going insane. We learn here in Double that Orekoto seems to be right handed, right?

Right? He always holds the bat with his right. And when he goes to swing, he swings with his left facing the "pitcher", which is how you swing if you're right handed.

Except.

There, his right is to the pitcher. That's a left-handed swing. You can even tell it doesn't make sense that that's the same swing just looking at the two images.

The bat is on the left. Only the left hand is bloody. And even the backside of the hand is bloody, so it's not like we're not seeing the blood on the right, there just isn't blood there. But notice the first alter isn't holding the bat.

Ends with blood on both hands.

Guys, I think we've gotten something wrong. There may not be just one murderer. Two alters have killed, I think.

EVER RED: THE THEORY (MASTERPOST)

This is a post compiling all the theories surrounding Ever Red from the Fragaria discord server

AMNESIA THEORY, THE TIMELINES

Fragaria's story is confirmed to be separated into two: The MVs and the voice dramas. This could imply two separate timelines. The 1st timeline is “ruined”, and the 2nd timeline (possibly the one for the MVs) acts as the present. In the Ever Red MV, there are lyrics highlighted in red, most of them pointing to them forgetting something.

This theory is unrelated from Ever Red, but the main point of the amnesia theory is that the knights don't remember their "original" selves, their current names and forms being a show of their connections to their lords (hence why Hangyon's name is only 2 letters off from Hangyodon for example).

These lyrics also point to something being forgotten (strawberry/fruit representing memories. Sweet and sour memories, a memory that ripens/develos as it is repressed)

But forgetting their old identities also means forgetting past events.

RIBBONS

The ribbons represent the pains of the past. In this part, Hallritt sings "Once the ribbon is tied, the knot marks are still there." Once pain is inflicted, the wounds and memories are still there.

The ribbon now ties everyone close to each other. The Red Bouquet will be there for Hallritt to help process his past, and make things right again (see next header).

I just want you to laugh, that's all I wish for Even if our memories are mismatched

Hallritt is now being covered by the ribbon, except for his eyes. He must face the truth of what he did.

HIDDEN AUDIO, "ELDRITCH HALLRITT"

Refer to this post to listen to the hidden audio. "Move. That dream… It was my fault." It was Hallritt's fault for the destruction of the 1st timeline. Around 3 minutes into the MV, there is a quick frame of this shadow version of Hallritt which me and the discord have named Eldritch Hallritt/Eldritt.

He was the "original" Hallritt from the 1st timeline, and a manifestation of the current Hallritt’s true feelings and repressed memories. He knows everything. He was the one who destroyed the 1st timeline, and is here to make sure the Hallritt of the current timeline doesn’t mess up.

But what was Hallritt's mistake in the first place?

SEEDS

SEEDS are the antagonists of Fragaria's story. They could be the original knights, as seeds come first before flowers/bouquets. One day, they took things too far, leading them to be banished and replaced by the Fragarians.

They might have once tricked Eldritt/The "original Hallritt" into joining them, which led to him ruining his contract with Hello Kitty, destroying the 1st timeline. Eldritt then reset the timeline into the current one, and is watching over the current Hallritt to not make the same mistake he did.

BONUS/MINI THEORIES

My friend Angel pointed out that "Fragaria Memories" sounds similar to "Fragmented Memories"

System Hallritt - Eldritt is an alter for Hallritt (+ is a protector or a gatekeeper) who wanted to prevent him from finding out the truth, but they can't run from it forever.

Bouquet leader doomed yaoi (I don't have a better name for this) - If Cielomort and Badobarm find out about Hallritt's secret, they could get angry and not trust him anymore. If this happens, the conflict could grow, repeating what happened in the 1st timeline that led to its destruction.

Hangyon and Chaco know - These two are suspicious. For Chaco, his title is "The detour dog with a hidden motive." The hidden motive could maybe have something to do with SEEDs. For Hangyon, if he knows what happened in the 1st timeline, that could be why he's close with Badobarm specifically. He watches him for any signs of the past repeating itself.

NEWJEANS - DITTO M/V THEORY

The music video starts with a grown woman (Heeseo) playing an old video with her friends (newjeans) she is having a flashback when she was young. Back then, she always carried her camera to the places where she hanged around with her friends. She records this times but unfortunately, the members are no longer with her.

While she is recording them, she always records one mysterious guy. She likes him, but pretends to ignore the guy.

One scene was in both mv's but with different scenarios. The members are waiting for her to choose whether she would go alone or go with the girls and walk under the rain together. Side A:she goes with them

Side B: She goes alone.

But, the mv ends with an unexpected twist, the members were never with her and she was alone this entire time. My theory is, she and the members were in a car accident and she was the only survivor.

We see her in a cast, this was probably caused by the accident. Another important thing is, we see a deer in both mv's. I have two theorys about it:

1-) the accident happened because of a deer.

She is carrying her camera around because she wants to remember the precious memories she had with them. But in one scene, she decides that she shouldnt rely on them and throws her camera away. But in the end, it will always haunt her and thats why she always sees the deer.

The guy was probably the reason why she moved on from her past. When she was recording, others made fun of her and gave bad stares, except him. At the end, Heeseo is seen looking through her memories with a smile, showing that she was able to move on.

2-)the deer symbolizes that she is suffering from schizophrenia (visual hallucinations)

basically, in this theory, the story is nearly the same. Except, the deer didnt cause the accident and she sees it because of hallucinations.

PERSONAL THOUGHTS

i love the storyline and the song itself. i hope they will continue to release good music ♡

I haven't seen anyone talk about this yet, but there's a difference between Amane's eyes in Magic and Purge March.

In Purge March, we see that her murder is not just motivated by her cult's beliefs; she also sings about wanting someone (presumably her victim) to pay for hurting her. That's a very personal motivation. It seems she chose to do it instead of someone in the cult telling her to kill them.

However, there's still a focus on following the cult's teachings. I believe that her victim might have been a hypocrite who broke one of the doctrines. Thus, they needed to be punished. It's both doctrine-motivated and revenge-motivated.

She's partially letting her own opinions color her view of what she's doing, hence her eyes being half a different color and half some of the cult's color (green and yellow). Since each mascot has a color associated with them, this means that the commandments Amane is thinking most about are

Thou shall deliver unto those thou believest in (Yuri)

Thou shall stay thine course, then perish (Gachata)

Notably, the purple wasn't there in Magic. This may signify that she is taking her own feelings into her view of things more. Gachata's teachings may be becoming slightly less important to her now than before. Meanwhile, Yuri's teachings still hold strong.

The purple could also represent outside influences since the hat is part of Amane's school uniform, which is also purple. Schools tend to teach things that run counter to what many religious cults teach. We know that the hat is part of the uniform since this girl is also wearing it, and I think that it's the same color as the hat.

I was thinking about 01-08 parallels, and thought about this:

Amane, a child who wants to be treated like an adult.

Haruka, a teenager/young adult who wants to be treated like a child.

Both of them went throught heavy child abuse - Haruka was neglected, ignored and verbally abused if not more, and Amane was a victim of ritual abuse, and we've already seen a lot of what she suffered.

The key difference in their responses to trauma and abuse from their caregivers is how they perceive themselves, and growing up.

Amane, inside the cult, sees the adults around her as people with power. People that are respected, and never understimated. She wants to be like them, she imitates her, but her naive and obvious childish mentality comes to light when you realize she's just repeating the things the adults around her lectured her to say, and that she's (accordingly) very childish. She wants to grow up because it would mean people will finally take her seriously.

However, for Haruka's case, growing up is a signal of losing everything that made him happy once. When he started to grow up, he realized he couldn't keep with everything people around his age were supposed to do, and sooner than later he lost the love of his own mother. He wants to stay like that because that's the only source of comfort he's ever had and he's been deprived of it for so long he'd do *anything* to feel it again.

We also have the visual parallels!! Both are drowning, but while amane is still trying to swim up, Haruka falls like he just gave up.

They were both, in their own ways, drowning in the expectations others had over them. The pressure they felt to meet what everyone wanted from them, and the suffering that came when they couldn't.
