Just so people know - since Ms. Marvel is a show about a Pakistani family, they showed us how Hasan and his family were uprooted from their home on the Indian side of the border and forced to move to Pakistan because they were Muslim. What they didn’t show was the fact that the same thing was happening to Hindus and Sikhs on the Pakistani side of the border. Of course, I’m not saying that they should’ve, because it’s not a part of Kamala’s story so it isn’t the main focus. Plus they can only cover so much in 45 minutes. But I just want to clarify that because I know a lot of non-South Asian Marvel fans are learning about the Partition for the first time from this show and it’s important to know that just because certain things were not shown on screen doesn’t mean they didn’t happen in reality.

⚠ MS MARVEL 102 SPOILERS ⚠

Alright…

I did not miss today's episode and thank gOD! Because there're some things to talk about.

Kamala's entrance was so cool. Like, the confidence. I swear I thought it was all a daydream and she'd get hit in the face with that basketball ball or something.

Kamran. Who's he? Why is Kamala looking at him? Why am I not hugging Bruno rn? Too many questions.

So, her training sequence is just ✨ art ✨. And I'm sure that, if I ever got superpowers, I'll look just the same.

But, did you have to make me cry with that “Please, let me go.” reference, KK?

Well, she apologized to her mom, which I appreciate, but I would have liked to see her apologizing to her dad as well.

Ugh. Details.

Kamran called Bruno, Brian. I really shouldn't be mad about it but, here I am, mad about it.

But, the fact that he gave Kamala a “driving lesson” kinda compensates it.

Bruno got into Calthec, and at first you're like wHAT? That's awesome dude! And then you see him ask if he can think about it.

Anyway, Kamala and Kamran are talking about movies and I'm so happy that Kingo movies were the ones they were talking about.

Dude, I'm actually liking this guy rn. The way he just said that to Aamir, how he didn't ask her questions as to why say that… yeah, I've got a feeling that I'll somehow regret this new trust on him.

So, the bangle belonged to her great grandmother, the one they don't talk about at home, no, no.

You read that singing? No? Me neither.

Nakia, her ✨ manipulation skills ✨. She's a natural politician.

I did feel bad for Zoe. Like, these people didn't have enough with Peter (they forgot but whatever) and now they want to get to Kamala and do what? I hate them already.

The Illumin-aunts (was that their name?) take gossiping too far. It's way more dramatic than one would think.

Now, are we gonna ignore the fact that it was the kids fault? Why would he try to get a photo like that? And that far from the ground? Smh.

I love how she tried to distract the kid and focus on something else. Very Spider-Man-like. #iapprove

Which leads me to: Ice cream pizza? Could any of you confirm if that tastes good? Because I'm not sure I'd like the final texture.

Did you see that superhero landing? *Yelena's voice* She's such a poser.

She saw her great grandmother and I was afraid the kid would fall and everyone would blame her for that.

Luckily, she saved him again. The only thing broken apparently, was his ankle. But he'll live.

Drones? Seriously? You're hunting my girl with drones?!

Now, nOW!!!1!1!! Kamran? What the f--? His-- his mom? What's happening? What's going on here? Why did she know about Kamala? Too many questions again!!!

Ms. Marvel thoughts:

loved the tone/aesthetic of the first episode, wish they had ramped it up for the rest of the season

the overall plot was pretty muddled, it could've been more focused; the explanation for her powers/powers' origin was really confusing, I hope that gets cleared up later

I mean does she need the bangle to use her powers?? how is this whole djinn thing connected to her being a mutant? are the djinn/clandestines from an alternate universe like in DS/NWH? Are they just aliens like Thor? do all djinn have powers or just her? what about Kamran? does the bangle like transport her through time and space??? Are the knee involved in all this?

the cultural/history stuff was the better part of the overall writing and was definitely the highlight of the story

I'm still undecided about her power change but I think I'll wait to see what they do with it in other stories, although I'm glad they still have her embiggen and stuff

I wasn't sure about her costume when I first saw the photos because it looked like high tech (like the iron spider suit) BUT now that I see that it's just shiny and her mom got it made for her and her costume/name came from her family and friends, I really like it; it definitely is super appropriate and true to her character/origin story (especially the transition from her superheroing in a captain marvel cosplay to her in her own suit)

I like that we saw the community rally behind her and everything

iman vellani is such a good Kamala

so the writing could use some work but they got the character right and that's what matters

Possible spoilers for ms marvel show.

I read the ms marvel comics a while ago, and while im sorta sad the tv show did an entire lore change (it seems) i got excited when she went to pakistan, because it meant red dagger might appear.

And he diiiiid! Yay. I ship it.

They also did the exact colors and outfit from the comics. Yay!
