I'm flat-hunting right now with a view to moving back to my home county, and I don't know who this system is designed for because it certainly is not designed for working adults. Everything is like, do you earn £80k? Do you want a bed in the kitchen? Can you view the property in the next hour? Can you move in next week? Do you want to touch opposite walls of your living room at the same time? Do you want to share with eight other people? Can you fit all your belongings into one cupboard?
I want a bedroom that has its own door. I want space to store things and display things. I want to be able to live in my home, not just sleep there. I need time to travel to viewings, and I need to fit them in around a full-time work schedule. I need to plan ahead how I'll move my entire life from one county to the next, not just pick up tomorrow and be moved in a single day. I need time to think and make decisions responsibly, instead of being rushed to sign contacts because fifty other people are lined up behind me to take the same property.

I’ve lived alone before but I’ve never lived alone in a house with nothing in it if that makes sense
If anyone has any tips for living in a new house or like things we might forget to buy that we’ll need please let me know!
I’m stressed and I’m trying to write down everything we’ll need

hello!!
for anyone who may have been keeping up with this long thread, my family (me, my mom, and our three cats) has been living in a hotel/motel room for the last almost 3 months after being kicked out of our last place for two months of rent nonpayment as we couldn't afford the raise in price with my mom's income (i do not have an income).
well, we have a place!!!!!! that we can afford with mom's income!!!!!!
with a small issue. unfortunately, we, of course, do not have funds to move in right now. it's $948.73 to move in on Sept 23rd, or $1,498 for Oct 1st. we cannot currently afford either of these obviously, but we really want to move in asap and get out of this room. i do believe my mom is applying for help with things, but i do not know details at the moment.
of course, we also need the money for a moving truck, and likely people to help us move, given the family that helped us move out of the last place can't help move in, BUT we are more worried about getting the money to pay for the deposit and rent for when we move in.
if anyone has the ability to help us, we will be eternally grateful. i have art commissions open! and will happily draw for you! you can either contact me via dms here to talk, or you can go through my kofi commissions!
i also have a goal set up on kofi for this!
thank you to everyone who has helped so far, and everyone who may help in the future! it means so much to us! <3

Has there ever been any point in time where the brothers had to move from their current living area because of a threat or emergency? If so, were they able to get their supplies or possessions out in time?
Oh yes, quite a few times.
They've been forced to leave burrows because another larger animal chose to claim it for itself. They have also had to leave due to predators learning where they were hiding.
Sadly not all of their belongings would survive, either getting left behind or destroyed by the "invaders".

it’s all done
The move is finished — at least for 6 months! That’s the plan, anyway. Some financial things have to happen and then we are moving from upstairs to downstairs and we’re done, maybe for our last move ever. (Depending on what happens with health in the long game.) Friday we had five helpers to do all the drudge work. Saturday and Sunday Katy (our daughter) helped with cleaning up the old place.…

The first bookcase is in my new library. We officially move in on Sunday. That's when my older bookcases will join this new one.

I'm not sure when I last posted about the house stuff. We're now less than two full days out from moving. My husband and I both work tomorrow and then it's move day. I'm off all day for the move, my husband will be closing that night so he'll be able to help until the afternoon.
We've been slowly moving over the past two weeks. We're just using movers to take our big furniture. We can afford it and I'm a chronically ill person who really cannot take that physical stress on at the moment. The only issue there is that we'll have to lock up the cat to make sure she doesn't make an escape and to make sure she doesn't get stepped on.
I'm ready for the moving part to be over already. I'm so tired all the time now between work, moving, and being a Spoonie. I cannot even begin to explain the physical aches and migraines from over the past two weeks.
I know it's a lot of complaining but I really am excited about all of it. Buying a house, moving out of this apartment, all of it. I just don't know if doing a slow move was the best idea. But, unless we wanted to pay 2 months worth of rent for breaking a lease 15 days early, it was kind of the only reasonable option.

hey everyone!
So we went to view the flat yesterday! it’s lovely!
Our in-laws gave us a spice rack as a house warming present which was so nice of them 🥹 and mum got us bowls and plates which are really pretty!
We have all our big furniture planned out just fingers crossed for us everything goes smoothly

Return to SoCal
I recently got a new job, and it came with a mandatory relocation to Southern California. This was where I was living back when I first began my magical journey some mumble-mumble years ago, and considering the distance I’ve felt growing between my practice and me, there’s been something of a nostalgic “coming home” feeling to this move.
I've posted a couple things on Instagram during this time, but the big administrative lift was definitely reconciling my inventory of alchemy experiments, tinctures, macerations, and various other materia magica.

This reconciliation was way overdue, so I was kind of happy to have been forced into it 😆
I also intended to reconcile my magickal library...
Tumblr media
...but instead, I just packed everything in boxes and promised myself I would do it when I unpacked. Since all my magick stuff is still in boxes, I'm going to happily assume all [235 of my books] made it through this transition unscathed.
There's something about SoCal that speaks to my magickal side, so I'm hopeful that my return to this area will also mark a return to more study and activity.

The past month was incredibly hectic. I finally moved house (something that I had been contemplating for a while now). The event upended a lot of my comforts but thankfully it didn't take long for me to find my footing again. If there's one thing I do have to say is I hope I don't have to move for another long time, it's always so hectic with the packing and the cleaning. Frankly it's one of my least favourite things to do.
March is done and 2024 is rolling along faster than I expected. So much has changed within the past year, to think that last March I left my lifting group and was mentally preparing myself to mourn for a family member. It's bizarre to think that's the kind of headspace I had during this time last year compared to now reaching my usual equilibrium.
I've got a couple of goals I'd like to work on now that I've got more spare time. It's nice, didn't think I'd move so soon but I like to think that everything happens for a reason. I don't know what the rest of the year is going to be like; how it'll unfold but I'm looking forward to it.
Cheers!

Guys apparently if you leave lindor chocolate in a box of incense sticks for a few months it starts to taste like incense.
Totally not speaking from a weird place where I can't decide if it's nice or not.
