Mike Wheeler Power AU

this has been on my mind for a while; i might try and write it myself-

Mike Wheeler who cant die, Mike Wheeler who can see and talk and interact with ghosts.

(Think like Klaus from the umbrella academy.)

Mike Wheeler who is #13 from Hawkins lab but never showed any powers outwardly so the lab gets rid of him via adoption, they figure he's too young to remember anything from the lab anyway, and if he's living in Hawkins they can monitor him just in case powers do pop up.

Except no powers pop up and at 13 they figure 'He's a normal kid with a very active imagination and no powers' and so they drop the surveillance and focus on El (self explanatory), and Will once back from the upside down and has more promise power wise the Mike ever did in their eyes.

Mike grows up adopted by the Wheelers who thought Karen, who was having fertility problems, wouldn't ever be able to give them a second child like they wanted (Holly was their miracle baby after Mike) They 'Love' him, provide for him, try to connect with him; but its hard; He's hard to connect with.

Mike has an 'overactive imagination' and new imaginary friends pop up each week, The Wheelers think he's being rude when he tells them his newest imaginary friend is a older man named Mr. Charlie; Karen tells him to stop making fun of their old neighbour's death. Mike was never aware he passed.

Mike always seems to know things he shouldn't, like how the late Mrs. Johnson had a drug problem or that Miss Read had passed away in her sleep before the general populace knew she was dead.

Ted tells Karen something is wrong with Mike; that maybe they were wrong to adopt. When Mike brings up his dead grandmother who Karen never talks about she agrees, They take him to a exorcist, they take him to church regularly and slowly Mike gets 'fixed'

Mike is 13 when he first figures out something about him isnt quite right.

When he jumps from the quarry El can't catch him and he falls. He finds himself in a barren white space with a tall women who takes him in her arms and promises everything will be alright. He wakes up on edge of the quarry, El and Dustin looming over him, Dustin crying and yelling and El giving him a look he cant quite decipher.

El 'saved' him, at least thats what Dustin thinks; in reality El brought what should have been his corpse back atop the quarry, and she is very confused as to how Mike survived.

El still disappears, and Mike is left alone with no one to help him figure out what's going on. He cant ask his parents, he doesn't trust or know how to contact Owens so he acts normal and focuses on Will. The quarry death incident is pushed to the back of his mind once he realizes something is wrong with Will and from there things progress like canon until he finds El with Hopper.

Mike still breaks down and gets mad at Hopper, then he's reunited with El.

(in my mind El and Mike don't really get involved romantically, when he's with her he's more focused on trying to figure out how the fuck he didn't die and who the lady in white space is.)

(I suppose you could imagine this with whatever romantic pairing for Mike you want, I prefer Byler; however you can imagine mileven if you want, you do you)

S2&3 progress similar to canon; Max & Billy show up, however Mike still plays D&D with Will and doesn't brush if off like he did in the show, its a good distraction from everything else.

Then things start going sideways with the mindflayer, Mike gets overwhelmed with how many people are being possessed; the mindflayer basically pushes the soul out of its body and suddenly Mike is seeing tons of souls that shouldn't be souls, He realizes something is really wrong when he sees double of Will & Billy (possessed body and wandering soul)

Mike can't really talk to the souls of the mindflayers victims till they die, thats kinda of when he realizes that the people he sees are ghosts.

Will & El move, Mike sends letters to El about his maybe powers, he doesn't send letters to Will trying to call daily instead, Joyces job holds up the line, he wont send letters to Will though, focused on trying to figure himself out, and he can never figure out how to write letters to Will well, they always end up too intimate (insert lettergate here lol)

Will & Mikes family assume he's dating El, He still joins hellfire and still plans to go to california. Max still pulls away, deals with Vecnas curse, Lucas & her are still broken up, Chrissy still dies in Eddies trailer starting the manhunt and Vecna arc.

However Vecna targets Mike first; noesbleeds, hallucinations, the whole nine yards. Mike flouts, his bones break and he dies.

Instead of the tall woman in whitespace Mike ends up having a flashback to the lab; he sees himself with El and 01 and the other numbers; #13 tattooed on pale white skin. He sees his adoption after the scientists determined he had no powers. He sees one of them burn the tattoo off him before he's adopted by the Wheelers.

He wakes up in a pool of his own blood knowing more about himself then he ever has, he understands himself better now.

Then he gets shipped off to California.

(This is a rough draft, this has also been eating away at my brain for the past few days. I will be writing more, and refining it. If you wanna use this to write something please do, then tag me, i wanna read it. Also expect more little bits from this AU. I have gotten very attached)

Stranger Things AU - Jancy as Paranormal Investigators Moodboard

Jonathan Byers was 13 the first time he saw a ghost, he screamed so loud he nearly woke the neighbors. Seven years and one brief stint in Pennhurst later, he's crisscrossing the country with his girlfriend, dispelling rumors, exorcising poltergeists, and trying to bring families closure. Nancy Wheeler is first and foremost a skeptic, so naturally, it's her boyfriend who can see spirits. And if it weren't for her own personal experience with a haunting she wouldn't believe him. She doesn't trust half the stories they hear, but she's not about to let him go investigate the paranormal on his own.

Steve sees the ghosts of those who have died. He sees Billy, Barb, and Eddie mainly because he knew them from being involved with the upside down. He sees other spirits but learned to not focus on them. No one else knows until Dustin(?) finds a tape that plays a sound that only people with powers can hear so when the whole group is together he plays it. When he does El and Steve are affected. No one is surprised El is affected but everyone is confused when Steve is shouting for someone to turn it off. All eyes are on him when he explains he can see and talk to ghosts. “Wait…can you see barb?” Nancy said with an accusatory glare. “You could see and hear her this entire time and didn’t tell anyone?!” She was angry, yelling , and shoving Steve to punctuate every few words. Jonathan grabbed her so she would stop attacking steve. “Can you see Eddie? Is he here now!?” Dustin asked. Mike was as angry as his sister with the new realization. “What else are you hiding from us?” Max asked with a hurt expression. This was not supposed to happen, he was supposed to take this secret to the grave. “I…can bring people back.” The last bit of the sentence was said in a hushed voice but one of them heard it. “What.” A loud slap could be heard through the silence “Bring her back” said seething through teeth. It turned out the one who heard it was Nancy who was ten times more angry than before. It comes with a price i can just magic her back to life without consequence. “You can bring back Eddie! The consequence shouldn’t matter, you're just being selfish!” Mike spat out like venom. After a long time of Steve getting yelled at and Jonathan, Will, Robin, and Joyce defending Steve everyone left to go to their respective home with swirling emotions. Days pass and Steve made up his mind and went to his pool where Barb had died. “You don’t have to bring me back, after getting to know you I don’t think it's worth it.” Barb tried to convince him it's not his fault. “ You and I both know it’s more costly without the physical body.” Steve took a knife and made a cut on his wrist. As the blood dripped into the water he said the incantation. The water began to glow a bright white color along with Steve's eyes. Barb emerges from the water taking in gulps of oxygen. “I’m...I’m alive. Why did you do that?” she asked. “ I owe it to you, and Nance.” Steve replied with exhaustion. “STEVE!” Barb yelled, catching Steve as he nearly fell in the pool. “ I’m fine, I need to get Ed.” Eddie appeared next to Steve “ Harrington you need to lay down before going anywhere” Barb shrieked at the sudden voice. Turns out anyone Steve brings back is connected to him and shares his power minus the bring people back part. The next day Steve the first thing he does is go to the old Munson trailer in Forest Hills.”I’m coming with you” Barb insisted. He goes to the spot Eddie died and repeats the process. This time Steve passes out immediately after. Barb and Eddie carry him to the car and put him in bed. While Steve is sleeping his walkie went off “Guys I think there's a code red! There were 2 energy surges similar to the ones when Vecna attacked, let's meet at Steve's house! Over and out.” About an hour later everyone is in Steve’s living room. Robin was looking around to find her other half only to find he wasn’t there. She went upstairs with Dustin following behind her. There were 2 people who sat by Steve while he slept in his bed. “Barb?” Nancy whispered. “Eddie?” Dustin said after “Steve?” Robin said concerned for her best friend who now had white streaks in his hair, pale, and looked so fragile. She tried to shake him awake but he continued his slumber. “What's wrong with him, why won’t he wake up?” “He used all his energy to bring us back from the dead.” Eddie answered. “That doesn’t explain why he looks so…breakable” Dustin added “It's because he shortened his life span because you A holes decided to treat him like a selfish prick when you know he has saved all of you multiple times!”

evil Will (not vecna!Will. just evil!Will) flirting with Mike in the Upside Down

HI NONNY!!!! YESSS THIS IDEA IS BRILLIANT AND OMFG!!! FIC UNDER THE CUT!!!! I don't know if this makes the idea justice or if it is or isn't what you were expecting.

Mike had a problem. A big one at that. Will, his best friend of over 13 years, had become evil and this time it wasn't because Vecna had possessed him. This time it was because he had wanted to, yeah, Vecna had tempted him but if Mike hadn't done that, then none of this would have happened. This being, Will choking El to death and Mike hearing this happen, hidden in the kitchen of the Byers's house. Will and El were in the living room, next to a throne made out of vines, which the newly turned villain had done for himself.

"Well, well, Eleven... Not so strong now, are we?" cackled Will with malice "What happened to <<I will defeat you because you are a monster>>, huh??? What if I want to be a monster?"

El only gasped and struggled to free herself from the invisible force stopping her breathing.

"Bah, you're no fun, you know that? Fucking boring. I thought you were a superhero, right? Oh wait, you aren't anymore!" Will seemed to turn his attention away from El.

"Now, what do we have here?" mused Will, approaching Mike's hiding spot

Mike bit his lip and gripped the hilt of his sword.

"BOO!!" screamed Will appearing from behind Mike

Mike turned around and stared at Will. It had been almost a year since they'd last seen each other, and both of them had changed but Will, he was absolutely gorgeous.

Will had an overgrown bowl cut and wore black slack trousers and a white shirt that opened a few buttons revealing several tattoos he must have done himself. Both clothing pieces were stained with fresh blood, that surely belonged to Mike's friends.

A smile crept up Will's face, contorting it into looking more evil than it already did. His hazel eyes gleamed with sadism.

"Hello" - Will grabbed Mike's face - "old friend"

Mike spat at him, but Will only laughed and it made Mike sick in the stomach.

"What's wrong, Mike?" inquired Will stroking Mike's cheek "What happened to <<Best friends>>, huh?"

"I- I thought- th- that- you died!" he choked out

"Did you? Or was that what you wanted to believe?" Will snarled

Mike remembered vividly what happened a year ago. How could he forget when it haunted his worst nightmares.

"Mike!!!" he hears Will call, desperately clawing at the dirt while a vine drags him toward a portal leading to the Upside Down.

A nasty gash in Will's thigh pools blood and soaks the ground, still, Mike runs after him and grabs his hand. Another vine appears and wraps itself around Will's neck, choking him unconscious.

Will's breathing stops and Mike, shocked, lets go. He sees with horror how Will's unmoving body falls through a portal.

A hand stops Mike from rushing after him, a hand that belongs to El.

"Mike, he is dead. I can not feel him in the void. He is dead, Mike. Henry has killed him."

Mike breaks down in tears and screams at the world's unfairness.

Now, Mike is staring at a very alive Will.

"You let me go, and now it's your turn to fall, Mike" whispers Will and suddenly someone is dragged by a vine toward them.

El. She didn't run fast enough. Will elegantly moves his hand making the vine swing El around. With one final movement, El is thrust out of the window.

"That is only the beginning, Mike. You will suffer and although your friend's suffering will be ended by Henry, yours won't. I will personally make sure you suffer" - Will grabs Mike's waist and pulls him closer - "by my hand"

Mike can't help but love this new version of Will. He's confident and handsome, but the man he fell in love with was nerdy, kind, sweet, and with a dorky bowl cut whose teeth looked like the ones little bunnies had.

"Will..." he murmured softly and Will drew a little knife from his pocket. "You don't have to do this"

"Oh, but I want to" - he pressed the tip of the knife into Mike's cheek, drawing blood - "and I will"

Will swiped the blood away with his thumb and licked it, making Mike shudder.

"Will, please. Don't do this, come back. I'm begging you"

"If you were begging you'd be on your knees" smiled Will

He got down on his knees and sobbed "I'm begging you"

"I like it when you beg. Beg some more" Will smirked

And so Mike did. He begged until his knees grew numb and his arms felt heavy.

"Please"

Will grabbed his head and lifted it up. They both looked eye to eye with each other.

"You look so handsome you know that?" mused Will

Mike grabbed him by the collar of his shirt, pulled him down, and caught Will's lips in his own.

These were some really early sketches of Will and El. They aren't necessarily accurate to the twins current looks or plotlines, but they exist, I guess, and I felt like sharing them.

yes these are drawn on lined paper. Yes I did do these in Geography and Maths class.

More Power Mike AU

so this is a lose idea of how the party (+ others) find out Mike has powers.

El is the first to find out, she knows something is up when Mike is relatively unharmed after he jumps, Then Mike tells her about it straight up trying to get help from the only other powered person he knows.

Will, Jonathan & Argyle find out together in the van ride back to Hawkins; Mike gets shot and he dies in the back seat of the van after giving Will vague instructions not to bury him, Mike later comes too it while the cali crew is stopped to bury the agent and he explains.

Nancy is next to know, because Vecna knows and he torments her by torturing Mike repeatedly in the vision shes showed.

Max finds out next, or well, her ghost does. after Vecnas attack that lands her in the coma her soul can roam around and Mike sees her, She sees Mike. (Once she wakes up she still retains the knowledge that Mike sees dead people)

In my mind Lucas, Dustin and the others would have either been filled in by the Cali Crew mentioning how Mike died in the back of the pizza van; Or Argyle mentions it speaking directly to Mike in front of the rest. Or they find out in what would be season five, they'd be told right at the start, Maybe then El starts 'training' Mike, trying to awaken secondary powers like telekinesis and stuff.

My brain child isnt that developed yet, and im rewatching stranger things to try and cobble together a fair amount of canon stuff too.

“Please come with me Will, it’ll be so fun I promise.” El begged me, as she sat across the dining table from me. We had just finished eating dinner, the servants were still in the process of clearing off the table when my sister El decided to bring up the annual village fair. If I was being honest, it did sound fun. I’ve never gone to it before but I heard from Mike that they always have games to play and food to eat. He once bought me a shirt that said “Long live the Light Prince” as a joke.

He tilted his head slightly as El stared at him, almost trying to make me say yes if her gaze was determined enough. It unfortunately for her it was not. “El, we can’t just go out to the village. It’s too risky” As I spoke, I glanced over to my right where my childhood best-friend Mike Wheeler was standing. Mike’s position is to always be directly next to me due to his position as Knight. Knights would normally be positioned at different stations around the castle, but due to a few different incidents where I was in the direct line of danger Mike took it upon himself to permanently be my bodyguard or in the words of the villagers “The sun protector”. Even just thinking of that title makes my cheeks burn. Mike once mentioned that although the villagers were referring to my powers of controlling light, he thinks it has a dual meaning with my personality.  

Mike clears his throat and says “Well, you could wear a disguise.” I can see out of the corner of my eye as El’s face lights up at the suggestion and exclaims “Yes! Thank you Mike, we will find something to wear so no one will know we are there.” I sigh, knowing that there is nothing else I can say to try to convince her otherwise and nod agreeing. El quickly rises out of her seat, “I have to go tell Max, I will come find you later!”

I turn to look up at Mike, forcing a small smile onto my face “Help me find something to wear?” Mike nodded quickly scanning his surroundings before stepping closer and grabbing my hand. I subconsciously copied his movements to see the room completely empty apart from us before turning my attention back to Mike.

“Hey, It’ll be okay Will. I’ll be there the whole time.” I grimaced, admitting “I know, I guess I’m just scared of Henry Creel trying to attack the kingdom while everyone is distracted. I let my guard down once before with him, and I paid the price. It took a year before the medic fully cleared me of being free from possession.”

Mike couldn’t help but frown as he thought about the past.

I was only twelve years old at the time, I was emotionally mature for my age but still naive with how the world works. I didn’t understand that not everyone has good intentions. Henry Creel was a king of one of our neighboring kingdoms, and at the time we did not have any allies. It was dangerous according to Joyce, so a ball would be held to create a bridge between the families. I was dressed in a white blouse, pants, and my crown as the accessory.

My first time meeting Henry was brief, I only had the chance to introduce myself before I was called away with other responsibilities. What I didn’t know was that Henry had his eye on me the whole night, and a domino effect was starting to haunt me.

Mike's face softens, he rubs a thumb over the back of my hand gently. “You’re safe now. You will never be hurt again, I won’t allow it.” I can’t help the shiver that runs over my whole body as I stare speechless at Mike. I know that Mike has always protected me since we were children but the conviction in his voice shocked me. I speak softly, my voice almost a whisper as the energy in the room shifts “You can’t possibly prevent everything from hurting me the rest of my life Mike.”  Smiling, he responds with “I think I can. I’ve already saved you once, what’s a thousand more?”

“Oh my god Will. Your arms…” Mike trails off staring down in horror. Will looked down blankly, seeing black veins crawling up his arms and hands. He felt like he should probably have any emotions similar to Mike like panic, but as he stared at his hands he could only blink. “Oh.” Mike’s mouth falls open in shock before he grabs one hand trying to pull it “We gotta go, we gotta get out of this castle now. We can fix you, we just gotta…Will! Let's go, what are you….” He turned back to look at Will, but Will was not facing him anymore. He was looking behind where Henry Creel was now standing, hands clasped together.

“Well, this is rather unfortunate. I should have accounted for you before, oh well. We will just have to speed the plan up won’t we Will?” As Henry spoke Mike’s hand creeped down to rest at the hilt of his sword. Will repeated “Speed the plan up…” “Let's go.” Henry turned and started to walk down the hallway, Will started to follow but was stopped by a hand gripping his wrist tightly. “Hey, hey, hey.” Mike bent down slightly, concern growing as he noticed Will’s eyes were hazy. “Will! Wake up!” Mike’s eyes were wide as they flitted back and forth between Will and Henry.

Byler Percabeth AU where instead of travelling through the Tartarus together it's the Upside Down and Will uses his powers similarly to how Percy defeats Akhlys (toxikinesis) revealing a darker side of him to Mike and making Mike cry (like how Annabeth did in HoH) which Vecna uses to manipulate Will into being ashamed of his powers even though they are needed to defeat Vecna!!!!!
