Michael Yew IS schrödinger's cat-- that's what makes him so tragic. to his friends and family, he is both dead and alive, until they find the body. sure, his chances of survival are dwindling into the hundredths digit now, but there is a chance, and no matter how small, someone is desperate enough to believe it.

Is it will solace, will, thirteen and oldest now? will solace, thirteen and in charge? will solace, thirteen and dragged away from the scene of his brother's death murder betrayal disappearance before he has any time to process?

or is it Jake Mason, Jake, fifteen and in love with a boy with short black hair, and eyes as blue as the sky on his favorite summer day, in love with a boy who disappears leaving but a trace-- a bow, quickly snatched up by a sibling, a quiver, left forgotten on a crumbled manhattan bridge (his siblings have lost too much to remember this), jake mason, who one minute has a best friend, and another minute has a statistic, a what-could-have-been, a tragedy?

is it both of them? both of them, grieving and mad, feeling abandoned by their siblings, their parents, and now, abandoned by michael himself-- perhaps they would prefer for him to be dead-- and yet, their hearts hold them captive, whispering, hold on, hold on, do you see this chance? do you see what might be? hold on, hold on, darling, and any second now he will walk through this door smiling.

Thinking about the first time Michael starts to question his identity.

He's sitting with one of his cabin mates and a couple other campers who are talking about TV crushes. When they ask him what his were he just answers in confusion. He thought they were joking. Surely you can't feel all that about someone you don't even know?

The second time is listening to head counselors telling some of the myths around the campfire. Michael pays a bit more attention to the lover stories then before, again confused why so many gods go after someone the way they do.

The third time is about a year into his friendship with Jake. He noticed he'd been feeling different but he didn't think much of it. He figured it was anxiety given the poisoning of their tree and border.

But then Jake hugs him out of excitement one night after they won why on the same side in capture the flag. The other apologizes immediately for doing so suddenly, but Michael's too busy feeling like he's gonna melt into a puddle.

He immediately goes to Lee. Confused as he was absolutely certain he didn't have fever nor was sick.

Lee just can't help but laugh. Playfully teasing his brother about "having his first crush"

Michael has to stop and process that one for the next few days.

It doesn't help that Jake is such a clutz and always seems to be in the infirmary over some dumb thing, Michael can't avoid him.

He can't help but notice small details about Jake now then he had before, suddenly the feeling he's been having making somewhat more sense.

Lee finally convinces him to brave up and confess to Jake one night away from ears and eyes.

Jake nearly falls on the spot.

Apparently Jake's like Michael for awhile.

Michael explains his conflicted feelings to Jake, who tells him there's no problem in taking things by ear.

So, they start dating in secret why both are trying figure themselves out and ●♡●

Jake getting comfortable with being Unlabeled/Queer and Michael getting comfortable with being Demi.

Lee and Beckendorf are two the few that are aware of the relationship, both brothers 100% take any chance to tease the love birds.

Will's told for no other reason then he is attached to Michael's hip. Jake sees him as another younger sibling-

Though Will did threaten to send him to the infirmary if he hurts Michael- Jake's not sure how to feel about that.

It's been 7 long years.

The final season of Percy Jackson and the Olympians has just begun to release.

The Ares and Apollo cabins are in a dispute over ownership for the flying chariot.

The counselors sit around a table in the Big House.

Percy has just learned that he's (probably) gonna die in the next month, when Clarisse and Michael begin to bicker. Percy has had it up to here.

He starts clapping rhythmically. There is a lull in the room as they stare at him.

He claps faster.

i think a lot about how in Blood of Olympus, Nico was supposed to be sentenced to death as a traitor by the Romans alongside Reyna, and how he was just 100% ready to throw down with Michael Kahale (who is like, twice his height and weight) if Reyna gave him the word. By the end of their quest Nico was really just ready to start biting people if Reyna asked him to and gave absolutely zero shits about potentially dying.

Imagine being Percy In last Olympian.

His partner in crime gets blown up and he lives but other guy doesn’t.

He finds out he’s destined to die painfully (or he thinks he is).

One of his closest friends calls him a coward

He trust some kid and then he gets turned into hades (hades. The same guy who sent a fury or all THREE after him and kidnapped his mother to use as a bargaining chip when he was twelve.) and then hes locked in a cell. He gets panicked and attacks the kid. (And also take care of him later and keep him out of danger.)

He gets forced to become a war general and leader at the rotting old age of 15, almost sixteen.

His best friend/crush gets stabbed for him and he blames himself.

There’s a traitor.

The traitor dies infront of him, the gf of the guy who died before.

He has to fight a war for the three days leading up to his birthday.

He has to fight Kronos.

He has to watch as the first person to truly welcome him to camp stabs himself and dies infront of him just mere seconds after he turns sixteen.

Sweet sixteen I guess.

Very much thinking about the Apollo cabin using Lee and later Michael as a kinda point to cling to why in battle in the same way the Hephaestus cabin did with Beckendorf. A reason to keep fighting. :3

The Apollo cabin is so interesting, Michael is such a complex character and he was hardly in half a book 😭

In more ways then one, Rick literally didn't bring him up until the very end and we don't even get reactions from other campers and Head Counselors. Annabeth wasn't there when Michael fell, how did she react??

We don't see Clarisse's reaction, or even one of the Stolls. Will isn't even fully said to have stepped up to take charge until we find out he's head counselor in tlh.

Like he's the only Apollo kid Percy actually notices by name especially afterwards so it's hinted but you could easily just say it's because he was the one that took care of Annabeth.

Possibly a hot take, but I think the Tartarus trip actually helped Will a lot. Obviously I have my disappointments with the book, but we do not only see Nico healing from the copious amount of trauma Rick fit into him; we get to see Will come to terms with darker parts of himself.

It's canon/very heavily implied (I can't remember and don't feel like looking it up) he came to camp at a very young age, younger than campers that aren't deemed "powerful" or have a strong scent. Despite Will thinking he isn't strong, he is the best healer Camp Half Blood has seen in, what we can assume, at least a century. He's a year-rounder, so he hasn't experienced life on the outside in years. Hell, until Trials of Apollo, his godly parent hardly took notice of him.

His older brothers and other siblings were his biggest supporters and motivators. They looked out for him and took care of him in place of a parent, specifically the older kids (Lee and Michael.) And he lost them during the Dark Prophecy - less than 2 years apart from each other. He didn't even get to search for Michael because Percy took him for a joyride across Manhattan on a motorcycle to help Annabeth.

Even after all of that, its implied/seen that he's someone who is always looking on the bright side of things, never making anything about himself, always helping others, etc. He's a ray of sunshine in everyone's life, never allowing himself to show anyone that he's hurting or suffering because he feels like he just can't. After all, he's Will Solace. He is the head medic, the infirmary can't just stop running. He's the counselor for cabin, his siblings need him to be strong.

He represses his negative emotions, even admits to it in Trials of Apollo. I think he represses them to a point he can avoid/ignore them or pretend they aren't his. It's easier to be a ray of sunshine in people's lives if the negativity and darkness you feel are projected onto someone else.

These tendencies are also something that causes strain in Nico and Will's relationship, because Nico doesn't understand how Will can't see how hypocritical he is. When in reality, Will does know, but it's easier if he avoids it. Ignorance is bliss after all. This doesn't mean Will doesn't work on trying to let Nico in, because he does, sort of.

On bad days, the days when he wakes up and wants nothing more than to curl up in the arms of his older brothers, he would go to Nico's cabin. However, his only explanation would ever be, "im tired." It frustrated him just as much as it upset Nico. He wasn't even sure if his boyfriend could tell. (Nico could, but that didn't mean it hurt any less.)

In Persephone's garden, he was forced to face the fact that there is darkness/negativity/hurt inside of him. He can't deny it when it's right in front of him, so he finally has to stop repressing everything, stop running away, and face his pains.

Charles: Oh, so you're Nico's sister. Yeah, I have what he asked for. *hands over case*

Charles: *opens case* He felt bad about almost breaking your bow so he had me make you this. *shows violin*

Bianca: Oh, wow. That's...very generous of you. All of you.

Charles: That's not where it ends. *pushes a button at the top and the violin turns to a bow*

Bianca:

Charles: He had blueprints and everything.

Bianca: I'm going to say something I swore I'd never say. Oh my Gods.

Charles: *chuckles*

Bianca: How much does he owe you?

Charles: Ah, it's on the house. It looked really cool and all of us wanted to take a shot at it. It was fun enough for us to make it.

Nico: *crying cuz he fell fown and scraped his knee*

Lee: Nico, calm down.

Nico: It hurts!!

Lee: I know, kiddo. I know.

Nico: I want Bia!!

Lee: Michael already called for her. Just be a good boy and keep still, okay?

Nico: *nods*

Lee: Okay, there we go. *blows on his wound and applies betadine*

Nico: Can I get a lollipop later?

Lee: Well, if you're a good boy, I can give you one in your favorite flavor. *patches him up* And we're done. See? That wasn't so bad, right?

Bianca, coming in: Nico?

Lee: Over here. He's fine. He just scraped his knee. Nothing a little betadine can't fix.

Bianca: Oh, good. Thank you.

Lee: Yeah. And he was a very strong boy. *shows lollipop jar* Here you go, Nico.

Nico: Yay!
