Honestly if anything, I really hope that Palworld makes developers realize that monster collecting games can be more than just JRPGs. I've played a whole lot of these other monster collection games that people recommend (Yo-kai Watch, Digimon, Monster Hunter Stories, Fossil Fighters, etc) and despite how much I love monster collecting games... I'm burnt out on RPGs! I want something new to the genre, and I think THAT is why Palworld appeals to me so much.

Like, what would a platformer monster collector look like? A metroidvania? A soulslike?? THIS is the door I want Palworld to open. I know GameFreak isn't threatened by this game at all, they're not gonna improve because of it. But I DO want it to inspire indie devs to think outside the box.

what's Monster Hunter gameplay like? I've seen a lot of cool designs I'm interested in but I know nothing about the actual game

It's basically a game where everything is a final boss :3

You are a hunter and get tasked with taking down monsters that increase in size and danger as you progress. The fights themselves are very straightforward, you grab one of the 14 weapon types (each with their own type of gameplay so there's something for everyone) and just attack until its dead. MH is different from other similar games in that its slightly more "realistic" since you can't see the monsters health bar and you just have to play it by ear and learn to recognise when its limping away or when it gets Real Mad. You also have to sharpen your weapon as it dulls over time.

Hunts also don't last more then 50 minutes tops, thats the uppermost time limit, so hunts cant be huge timesinks

When you defeat the monsters you acquire parts from them (scales, plates, horns, etc) with which to craft sick armor and weapons to be able to take down badder monsters

The maps are also pretty big and theres more things to do than hunt depending on the game, like killing smaller monsters or going around gathering stuff like minerals and herbs and the like. And in monster hunter world you can collect animals for your house :3

There isnt a lot of story for it and it certainly doesnt happen during fights so you can look up any monster you like on youtube and watch someone fight it and see if it's something you vibe with

ROTTMNT FIC RECS PART ONE

I’ve been wanting to give Fic Recs for a while and then realized I could just do that anytime I wanted, plus I think Fic Rec Lists should be more of a thing because I’m always excited when I find them so without further ado, some fics I really liked that I think more people should read!

This Year We Lost Our Dear Brother Leonardo (Series) By Catatonicatnap- Don’t let the title fool you, it’s Post-Movie Hurt/Comfort and FULL of scenes that had me wheezing! Two one shots so far and 8k words in total for the series! Everyone is written so well and it feels like it could be a scene from the show/movie! I think about this one constantly tbh, I read it pretty soon after watching the movie and it was EXACTLY what I was looking for!

Donatello x2 By SpectrumWriting- Donnie accidentally splits himself into Two Donnies while experimenting: One who is terrifyingly pragmatic, and the other who’s highly and openly empathetic. Shenanigans ensue. Ongoing, 5 chapters so far, and 12k words in total! Hasn’t been revisited in a while but don’t let that stop you, it’s a fantastic read and I love the dynamics!

What’s Left Of A Candle Without It’s Ends By Catatonicatnap- Yes, another one by the same author, it’s good stuff, okay? Post-Season 2 Finale, Mikey gets artistic burnout because all of his work in the old lair has been destroyed. Leo helps. Some really good Mikey angst that I honestly felt. Could not imagine losing all my work over the years so honestly seeing Mikey get his happy ending was twice as satisfying! Completed with two chapters and 3k words in total!

How To Spruce Up Your Lair In 10 Easy Steps! By BigDamnHer0- A Post-Movie Healing One Shot in which the family takes up house renovating as a coping mechanism and, as the title suggests, spruces up their lair! I love the style it’s written so much, it’s honestly fantastic. All of the turtles get a chance in the spotlight and it’s just a great fic overall. 7k words and completed!

Carapace By SkeletalConstellations- I just binged this whole fic throughout yesterday and today and it was a wild ride that I now want everyone to go on! Donnie gets badly hurt and transfers his consciousness into a robot body he designed for himself. It brings up some complications and revealed secrets in the process. Ongoing, 16 chapters as of now, and 40k words in total! I’m very excited to see where this fic goes!

For What It’s Worth, It Was Worth All The While By Taizi- Another fantastic Post-Movie Hurt/Comfort fic that I think about constantly! There’s so many things about this fic that I love, especially regarding what happened immediately after they got Leo back, and honestly I think everyone should read it if they haven’t already. It’s so sweet! 2k words and two chapters in total!

Decompress By Tenka- More Post-Movie Hurt/Comfort because I really can’t get enough of it. This one follows Leo during the first day after preventing the apocalypse and it’s so GOOD! The dynamic are wonderful, a few scenes cracked me up, and I’ve reread it a few times since I first found it and it’s fantastic every time! It’s a one shot with 13k words in total!

Andddd that’s all I’m gonna do for now! Definitely gonna make more, both for ROTTMNT and other fandoms! Thought about making a Spoiler-Free Fic list for those still watching through ROTTMNT so probably gonna make that at some point? I’ll figure it all out later!

okay so lately I've been using this to detangle doll hair

and goodness gracious, it works really really well. Hair that normally would have taken me a couple of tries to get through were finished in one. Plus it smells great imo. You don't even need a whole lot to get the job done

#cat meows #thinking abt how if my antidepressant doesn't help #which it won't i'm sure #then i actually have no more options left.#last time i saw public MH it sucked so badly that it almost pushed me over the edge #the only options left are ECT or TMS or [redacted] myself. TMS isn't funded #and they've historically been wary about ECT. with the DID. since it can cause memory loss #so like. idk man. i hope the med works like it did last time. i don't have other options anymore #MH services said as much. and worse.#my private psych had good options for the mania side of things but...#not so much the depression i think. or maybe the med she recommended was for that #if it was that's One Single Viable Option. but means i have to admit to my GP that i am in fact becoming badly depressed #i'm sure they're sick of that. happens every year in autumn/winter like clockwork.

They basically made a post complaining about how it's become more popular for people to draw Draculaura fat, equating it to "promoting obesity"

And like for the record.... yes Draculaura's doll is in no way fat, but that doesn't make it morally wrong for people to draw her that way... Thus far, she, along with Bloodgood and Iris, are the thickest characters in the show. People have been projecting onto these characters for years, in harmless ways, and this is no different. And that's not even mentioning the fact that people have been drawing her fat for a while, hell even I did before we even saw her new design in gen 3.

I get what it's like when a character is often portrayed in a way you don't like by the fandom, I think we've all been there, but if there's nothing wrong with it it's really your own problem. People have to curate their own experiences on the internet, and ruining other's isn't the way to do it.
