Sometimes in life you unexpectedly meet special people. People who inspire and motivate you to go new ways. Ways that open up new perspectives and help you to become a better person with better karma in the long run.
Exactly such a person is my spiritual master, whom I met about a year and a half ago. Some would call this coincidence, I think it is more than that. However, I am very grateful to have met this person, as he has awakened a fire in me and helped me overcome old obstacles.
As a small thank you, I made him this small mixed media illustration of Sivananda Saraswati, also known as Swami Sivananda, as he greatly appreciates his teachings and in turn was greatly influenced by him. The picture made him very happy and is now on his home altar – which in turn makes me very happy.
What can I say? Sometimes it is easy to make people happy – with selfless things that come from the heart. In this sense – thank you for everything Raghurama!

I think I need to make it clear for many Vaishnav (looking especially at you, ISKON) Hindu extremists (and even many Shaivites) that ya'll can have your sects and your beliefs as Vishnu or Shiva as your supreme lords. I don't have an issue with that.
But when you try to say that this is the ONLY truth about the Vedic religion (I'm not using Hinduism here because it doesn't sum up the pantheon as much as the ''Vedic" word does, despite the term being associated with the Vedas, and yes we need to come up with a better word that comprises this entire pantheon as a whole), that's when I have a problem, because that is definitely NOT the entire pantheon.
Do not spread the beliefs of your sect as the ONLY canon belief and don't speak for the people who don't fall under this category. I have seen this in all of social media and it pains me how much of a linear pantheon this once oh-so flexible culture has become.
Yes the concept of Prajapati and the Supreme being has existed since the Vedas. But when you say that Vishnu and Shiva are somehow superior to other gods as the ONLY CANONICAL BELIEF, that just flips me off, and I'm gonna call it out.
How dare you forget the four Vedas, that had no mention of such an idea? This might tick some people off but Indra, Agni, Rudra (which later became synonymous with Shiva, but is a whole different deity), Mitra, Varuna, Vayu and a few other Gods were just as much powerful as Vishnu or Shiva, if not more. This is ANOTHER canonical truth that these extremists (again, somehow mostly Vaishnav) are denying.
Ancient pantheons weren't some linear path with just one canon event. These were their own multiverses of a plethora of VARIOUS canon events, myths and legends. So stop making the Vedic religion a linear, rigid pantheon. Remember? It's not an organized religion. There can be SEVERAL canonical truths. Like I definitely understand that a religion/culture changes overtime. It evolves. Fine. Vishnu is the supreme God now, fine. But you can't deny the history. The Vedas that didn't canonize this. Are you gonna say that these Vedas, that came BEFORE this Vishnu/Shiva being the considered the supreme lord(s), were wrong? I hope not lol.
Besides, I'm not even gonna get into ISKON. They have regarded anyone that's not Vishnu as a demigod, which is ABSOLUTELY VILE AND DISRESPECTFUL. Do they even KNOW what a demigod is??? FUCK NO. They don't. They just like to use that word to inferiorize other deities, due to their unhealthy and toxic obsession with Vishnu, who doesn't deserve it. On top of that they have claimed that worshipping such gods will not lead you to eternal peace, or that it's somehow wrong. Ah yes. Gotta love gatekeeping and toxic cult fan behavior. Call me rude but if you disrespect a GOD (yes, Indra, Mitra, Varuna and others are ALSO GODS, FYI) is WILD, and they should be called out for it. (Some Shaivites have done the same in case of Shiva, and they need to be similarly called out.)
In conclusion, worship whoever tf you want, but remember that theologically, and even historically, there can be more than one canonical story. It really depends on which sect/region you belong to. You CAN be a polytheist. Idk why Hindus these days are inadvertently trying to appeal to the monotheistic pantheons so much, to the point that they have an internal dislike for polytheism, which they're not aware of, but it shows when they speak up.
This pantheon (like every other pagan pantheon back in the day) is very broad. Remember that. And it's very flexible. So let it be like that, and stop gatekeeping it and having a war between who supreme Lord is. I'll stop my yapping here. But I hope people understand this. Cuz damn.

Digimon & mythology: the Warrior 10 and spirits
In the genesis of the Digital World there was the Warrior 10, a group of mighty Digimon who each represented one of ten elemental attributes. When Lucemon rebelled against God, the Warrior 10 fought him. In the end, they managed to seal away Lucemon at the cost of their own lives. While the Warrior 10 are long since dead, they passed their data and abilities down to the many Digimon types. In addition, each member left behind two spirits who can be taken up by others to become special Digimon.
Designed for the anime Digimon Frontier, the Warrior 10 and their spirit descendants go outside of the normal evolution methods. For each element there is two spirits: human and beast. The holder of the spirits can switch between human and beast forms. In addition, the holder can merge the two into a fusion form. All spirit Digimon are given the special level of hybrid, but in general human spirits are equivalent to the Adult/Champion-level, beast spirits to Perfect/Ultimate-level, and fusion spirits to Ultimate/Mega-level. In other media outside of Frontier, the spirits have been treated as normal Digimon. In addition, the spirits of fire and light can fuse with other spirits to take on a transcendent form. In the anime, only the holders of the fire and light spirits got to reach their fusion forms but the other heroic spirits (darkness, ice, thunder, and wind) from Frontier have been given their fusion forms in other media. The villainous spirits (water, earth, wood, and metal) have only been given their human and beast forms, which is a big missed opportunity. To fit with being the descendants of legendary heroes, the spirit Digimon have a lot of mythological themes in their names. A lot of these were changed in the English translation to avoid religious references. The concept of different elements that make up the world can be found in many cultures, including the classical elements originating in Greece (earth, air, fire, and water), the Chinese Wuxing (fire, water, wood, metal, and earth), and Hindu Pancha Bhuta (earth, air, fire, water, and akasha, which can be translated as sky, space, or ether).
The Warrior 10 member representing fire is AncientGreymon and it passed its abilities down to dragon Digimon. No real mythological references with it so we move onto the human spirit of fire: Agnimon. Agnimon is a flaming martial artist that hones its mind and controls its temper with yoga. Its name comes from Agni, the Hindu god of fire. In the Vedas, Agni brought light into the universe and frequently acted as the intermediary between humans and the gods, making him one of the most important deities. While later texts downplayed his importance somewhat, he is still a major deity and is invoked in many ceremonies and traditions. He also carried over into Buddhism and Jainism. Agnimon doing yoga is another reference to India. The beast spirit is Vritramon (eng: BurningGreymon), a ferocious dragon born from data produced by scientists researching volcanoes. Vritramon's name comes from Vritra, an asura (demon or evil demigod) who personified drought and was the archenemy of Indra, the king of the Hindu gods and god of the sky and weather. In the Hindu text Rig Veda, Vritra blocked all the rivers in the world to horde all the water and force the people to suffer. Indra then fought Vritra and eventually slew him, releasing the water and ending the drought. In one version of the story, Agni was originally on Vritra's side before being convinced to side with Indra, which may be why their Digimon versions are linked. While most early depictions of Vritra had him as a humanoid, some later adaptations made him into a dragon. The fusion of the spirits of fire is Aldamon, who combines the intelligence of Agnimon and bestial power of Vritramon. Its name comes from Ardhanarishvara (Japanese doesn't have the "L" sound and uses the "R" sound instead, which is how "ardha" becomes "alda"), which is a fusion of the Hindu god Shive and his consort Parvati. Usually depicted as male on the right and female on the side and represents a fusion of the masculine and feminine powers of creation and how the feminine and masculine principles of the divine are inseparable. While Ardhanarishvara is a fusion of male and female, Aldamon represnets the fusion of human intellect and bestial power. Aldamon's attacks are maned Brahmastra and Brahmashira, legendary weapons from Hindu mythology. The transcendent form of the spirit of fire is KaiserGreymon (eng: EmperorGreymon) and it doesn't have any real mythological references other than harnessing ley lines, a concept found in new age pseudoscience.

The Warrior 10 member representing light is AncientGarurumon, which passed its abilities down to beast Digimon. Once again, no mythological references so we'll move onto the human spirit. Wolfmon (eng: Lobomon) is a warrior empowered by a righteous spirit that contains a holy light. It doesn't have any real mythological references but its attack names are in German and the rest of the spirits do have a germanic and norse theme. Missed oppurtuinity to reference the faoladh, benevolent Irish werewoves, tbh. The beast spirit of light is Garmmon (english: KendoGarurumon), an extremely fast beast that hunts evil. It will never obey an evil creature, but will devote itself to a master with all its heart. Garmmon's name comes from Garmr or Garm, a wolf found in Norse mythology. It is described as a guardian of the gates of the bad afterlife Hel, giving it a similar role to the Greek Cerberus. Garmr is trapped by a chain in a cave called Gnipahellir and in the Porse Edda, will escape during Ragnarok where he and the god Tyr will fight and kill each other. Garmr is very similar to the more famous Fenrir and the two may be different cultural variations of the same legend. The fusion of the light spirits is Beowolfmon, a fighter who cooly measures up its enemy with human-like intelligence and tries to remain level-headed in combat. Its name comes from Beowulf, the hero of the germanic epic of the same name. In the epic, Beowulf slays the monster Grendel and then its mother and became king before dying in the process of slaying a dragon. The transcendent form of the light spirits is MagnaGarurumon, which again doesn't have any mythological references.

Where there is light, there is darkness and the Warrior 10 member representing darkness is AncientSphinxmon, which passed its abilities down to mythical beast and demon beast Digimon. It is based on the great sphinx of Egypt. The Egyptian version of the sphinx was seen as a protector and was often associated with Ra, god of the sun. A bit ironic for the Digimon of darkness to be associated with a sun god. The spirits of darkness are unique in that there are two versions of each one, a corrupted and purified version. Also, I like that Digimon made the warrior of light a dog and the warrior of darkness a cat. The corrupted human spirit of darkness is Duskmon. It was born from the regrets of extinct Digimon species and exists to oppose holy Digimon. Duskmon doesn't have any real mythological references, but the corrupted beast spirit, Velgrmon, does. Velgrmon is a being of hatred as the proud Duskmon hates transforming into its ugly beast form. Velgrmon's name comes from Hræsvelgr, a gigantic eagle from Norse mythology that creates wind when it flaps its wings. The purified human spirit of darkness is Löwemon. It operates from within the darkness, but is not evil and instead hunts evil from the shadows. Löwemon wears a ring called Neeblinge, which comes from Der Rings des Nibelungen (The Ring of the Nibelung), an epic music drama by Richard Wagner. In the story, various gods, monsters, and humans battle to obtain the title ring, that will grant dominion over all. The story is named after and partially based on the germanic epic poem Nibelungenlied. The purified beast spirit of darkness is KaiserLeomon (eng: JagerLöwemon, whos unique armor lets it be incredibly fast and sharp enough to cut apart whatever it runs through. No mythological references here, it just furthers the visual connection to sphinxes. Similarly, there is no real mythological connection in the fusion form Raihimon (eng: Rihihimon). Its a humanoid sphinx that is so skilled at stealth that few realize it even exists. The name "Raihi" is a corruption of the German "Reich", meaning "empire".

The Warrior of ice is AncientMegatheriummon, which passed its abilities down to mammal and icy snow Digimon. While it is not based on a myth, the megatherium is an extinct giant ground sloth. The human spirit of ice is Chackmon (eng: Kumamon). Its a cute tedy bear made of snow that carries military gear and claims to be part of an arctic defense force. No myths here so we go to the beast spirit of ice: Blizzarmon. Blizzarmon (eng: Korikakumon) is a ruffian with a love of battle that offers prayers to an ice god. There's no obvious mythological references other that it maybe being based on a yeti. The yeti is a mythical being said to live on the Himalayan mountains. It is supposed to be hairy and is associated with ice and snow at least. Weirdly enough, Blizzarmon's axes are named in the Igbo language of Nigeria, which is not a place known for snow. The fusion of ice is Daipenmon which not only has no connection to myths, it has no real connection to its prior forms. Not sure how two snowy mammals merge to become a mechanical ice shaver penguin dual-wielding popsicles.

The Warrior of thunder is AncientBeatmon (eng: AncientBeetlemon), which passed its powers down to insect Digimon. Digimon associates insects with electricity a lot. The human spirit of thunder is Blitzmon (eng: Beetlemon), a mechanical yet highly emotional electric wrestler with a heart of gold. Blitzmon is not based on mythology, but it is one of many references Digimon makes to the Japanese franchise Kamen Rider, which features a lot of martial artists wearing bug-themed costumes. The beast spirit of thunder, Bolgmon (eng: MetalKabuterimon) sacrifices mobility for incredible firepower as it turns itself into a tank. Its name comes from Firbolg, a mythical tribe of people who inhabited Ireland in the story collection Lebor Gabála Érenn. I found a few sources associating the name Firbolg with a thunder god, though as far as I can tell this appears to be a misconception. Bolgmon's profile also references scarabs, which were used in ancient Egypt that were used as seals and symbols of the sun due to an association with the god Kephri. The fusion spirit is RhinoKabuterimon. It's just an electric rhinoceros beetle. Nothing mythical about that. You may have noticed that the fire and light spirits have tons of references and the other spirits have a lot less. That comes down to the writing of Frontier where if you weren't the human holders of the fire and light spirits, the writers did not care about you and occasionally seemed to resent having you in the show to the point they turn you into a power-up for the heroes. The lack of interest in the other spirits and their holders is my biggest gripe with Frontier.

TheWarrior of wind is AncientIrismon (eng: AncientKazemon), who passed down its abilities to bird man and fairy Digimon. Iris is a minor Greek goddess who personified the rainbow and usually acted as a servant for other gods. The human spirit of wind is Fairimon (eng: Kazemon), a good-hearted gossip with the power to manipulate the atmosphere. Fairimon is based on modern interpretations of fairies. Fairies are found throughout European folklore, but are most famously associated with Ireland. The myths about them are highly diverse and they can range from benevolent to malevolent to having a completely alien sense of morality. More modern depictions of fairies often simplify them to small humans with insect wings and make them cute and friendly. This is the version that Fairimon is based on. Fairimon is also based on kamaitaichi, a form of yokai from Japanese folklore. They are associated with wind and dust devils and often look like weasels. The story about them says that they (often working in groups of three) will use sickles to cut people and then heal them so fast that the person will feel the pain of being cut but see no wound. One hypothesis to explain the origin of the stories was that minute vacuums in the air would make people feel pain with no wound. Fairimon is stated to be able to use is power over air to cause these vacuums. The beast spirit Shutumon (eng: Zephyrmon) is a mischevious trickster with the power to cast Mesopotamian spells. It is based on Shutu, a minor Mesopotamian god or goddess of wind. Design-wise, it also takes after two other Mesopotamian creatures. Lamashtu is a she-demon that appears as a fusion of human and various animals (fitting for a beast spirit) while Lilith was a demon (or class of demon) associated with women and birds. The fusion spirit is JetSilphymon, who can fly so fast it can't be seen and unleash hurricanes from its giant pinwheel. In the writings of the Swiss philosopher Paracelsus, Sylphs are elemental spirits of air.

The Warrior of earth was AncientVolcamon (eng: AncientVolcanomon), which passed its powers down to ore and mineral Digimon. The human spirit of earth is Grottemon (eng: Grumblemon), a temperamental artisan who can summon hammers from the ground. Grottemon is based on European folklore of gnomes and dwarves, diminutive people who lived underground and were typically great craftsmen. The gnome was also used by Paracelsus as an earth elemental and Grottemon's design is based on garden gnomes and their pointy hats. The beast spirit of earth is Gigasmon, a gigantic and violent beast with earthen skin baked into armor. Gigasmon is visually based on some sort of troll or ogre, but thats the closest it gets to a myth.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

The Warrior of wood is AncientTroiamon, who passed down its abilities to plant Digimon. It is based on the Trojan horse from the Odyssey and Aeneid. The story goes that during the Trojan war, the Greek forces could not breach the walls of Troy. Odysseus had the Greeks feign retreat and leave behind a giant wooden horse as an offering to the goddess Athena. The Trojans brought the horse into the city as a trophy and that night, a force of men hidden in the horse came out and opened the city's gates, allowing the Greek army to invade the city. The human spirit of wood is Arbormon, a seemingly emotionless puppet that is actually keenly aware of its surroundings. Arbormon is based on a karakuri doll, mechanized Japanese puppets that were able to move on their own. The beast spirit of wood is Petaldramon, a giant and hungry plant dragon.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

The Warrior of water is AncientMermaimon, who passed its abilities down to aquatic Digimon. AncientMermaimon is based on mermaids. Human-fish hybrids has appeared in virtually every culture that lived around water, though AncientMermaimon is based on the common European image of a mermaids. It holding a trident and having power over water is similar to the Greek sea god Poseidon. The human spirit of water is Ranamon, whose mood is as changeable and temperamental as the sea. Ranamon is also based on fish/human hybrids, though is more humanlike than most mermaids. Its name comes from the Spanish ford for frog, "rana", which is why it's dumb that more recent English translations like the card game keep trying to change it to Lanamon. The Japanese L/R confusion strikes again. The beast spirit of water is Calamaramon, a witch who excels at offense and defense. It is based on more monstrous versions of the human/fish hybrid.
Tumblr media Tumblr media

The Warrior of steel is AncientWisemon, who passed its abilities down to mutant Digimon. It is all-knowing due to having access to the Akhasic Records, a spiritual compendium of all knowledge found in Theosphy and new-age spiritualism. The human spirit of steel is Mercuremon (eng: Mercurymon), a genius tactician and philosopher. The beast spirit of steel is Sephirothmon (eng: Sakkakumon), a bizarre being that possess the power of all 10 elements. Sephirothmon is based on the Sefirot tree of Kabbalah, a school of Jewish mysticism that attempted to explore the relationship between the eternal, unchanging god Ein Sof and the finite mortal world. Kabbalah is an extremely complex subject that I can't do justice with the short amount of research I'm doing for this post. The Sefirot tree, which Sephirothmon takes the shape of, is a concept in Kabbalah intended to illustrate the 10 methods or emanations of God's work in the material world. Each emanation also may represent a metaphysical world that people can pass through as they try to understand God. While the 10 spheres of the Sefirot tree each represent one of the emanations and their relationship to each other, the 10 spheres of Sephirothmon's body each represent one of the 10 elements that make up the Digital World and presumable how they and their associated Warrior 10 member relate to each other. The Sefirot tree is also supposed to help one gain wisdom and they further understand God and AncientWisemon and the steel spirits are associated with knowledge and wisdom.
Tumblr media Tumblr media
When the power of all of the spirits come together, they become Susanoomon, a god who presides over destruction and regeneration. When the Digital World descends into chaos, Susanoomon will appear and destroy it so that a new one can take its place. Susanoomon carries a weapon called ZERO-ARMS: Orochi. Susanoo is the Shinto god of storms and wind that has been portrayed as both a hero that slays monsters and a wild and dangerous god of storms. This with with Susanoomon representing both destruction and regeneration. The most famous story involving Susanoo says that he was banished from the heavens after his bad behavior terrfied his sister, the sun goddess Amaterasu. Now on Earth, Susanoo encountered an old couple who told him of a mighty, eight-headed snake named Yamato-no-Orochi who had devoured seven of their daughters and would be coming back for the eighth and final one soon. Susanoo agreed to help them and transformed the final daughter into a comb to keep her hidden. He then brewed strong sake (an alcoholic beverage) and offered it to Orochi. After the snake got drunk and passed out, Susanoo killed it. In Orochi's tail, Susanoo found a sword that he gave to Amaterasu as a gift, leading to the two reconciling. ZERO-ARMS: Orochi is based on the sword found in Orochi's tail. There is an Orochimon, but it debuted before Susanoomon and the two are not connected.

[Spinoff] Transcendental Meditation – One of the modern meditation methods.
As a comparison and contrast to Vipassana meditation (Ref) as an alternative medicine, we would like to mention Transcendental Meditation of Hindu origin.
Transcendental Meditation (TM) is a form of silent mantra meditation technique derived from the Vedas, made known in the mid-1950s by Indian Maharishi Mahesh Yogi. Maharishi summarised and presented the Vedic teachings in a form that was understandable to Westerners, using scientific language.
Advocates of the Transcendental Meditation movement (TM) claim that the technique promotes a state of relaxed awareness, stress relief, and access to higher states of consciousness, as well as physiological benefits such as reducing the risk of heart disease and high blood pressure.
Transcendental Meditation is said to foster a higher consciousness and improve one's luck (described as receiving nature's support). When done in groups, it is said to promote very powerful attunement, creating harmony and positive influences in the environment (making the world a better place).
The connection between mantra and meditation is considered a "scientific technique" and is called the "science of creative intelligence. It is said to develop latent abilities, drawing out vitality, intelligence, and fulfillment, and even "transcending" thought. Maharishi states that "transcendence" is the transcendence of the mind over thought, the turning of the mind inward, beyond thought, beyond the conscious mind, to experience pure consciousness which being absolute bliss consciousness, totally unchanging and eternal. The "ultimate goal" of transcendental meditation is "God-realisation," the realisation of the value of "God" within oneself, and the attainment of God-consciousness.
Building on the teachings of his master Brahmananda Saraswati (known honorifically as Guru Dev), the Maharishi taught thousands of people during a series of world tours from 1958 to 1965, expressing his teachings in spiritual and religious terms.
Many celebrities and celebrities such as the Beatles studied Transcendental Meditation during this period, and its influence on the subculture was significant. It is known to have had a major influence on musicians during the Flower Movement, and among hippies in the 1960s, 'meditation' and 'zen' were seen as techniques that could provide similar psychedelic experiences without the use of drugs.
They were loved by hippies as a method for 'mental expansion' and so-called 'opening the doors of perception', with Transcendental Meditation being described in the rock media as the most 'effective' and known amongst young rock lovers.
Beginning in 1965, the Transcendental Meditation technique has been incorporated into selected schools, universities, corporations, and prison programs in the US, Latin America, Europe, and India. The technique has still been included in a number of educational and social programs around the world.

I have a small request for my mutuals and people i follow. I hope u will understand. I request u all to tag posts related to the new n*clear b*mb movie as *ab*
I am now going to tell u why . Before I say anything I want to say i think making and using that weapon of mass destruction is the most heinous crime against humanity and nature.
Couple of days back I was bored to oblivion and tried to look at the world news headlines. I found a post about the movie that said Hindus r upset over a certain scene. I read the details and immediately regretted. It was beyond shocking for someone who grew up in a home with The Holy Bible , The Vedas and The Koran in the same book shelf and a sub-continent with numerous religious communities, people of all shades of skin color and learned at home and school to respect them all while respecting the religion and culture I was born and brought up into.
I am sure C* topher N*lan and the writers/ whoever is responsible for putting that scene in the movie are some of of the most awful, ugly, filthiest minded creatures ever (like rotting sewerage ). HOW DARE they insult Hinduism and Religious Hindus like that ? HOW DARE THEY INSULT HINDUISM IN THE GROSSEST POSSIBLE WAY IMAGINABLE ? WOULD THEY DARE DOING THE SAME TO ANY OTHER MAJOR RELIGION IN THE WORLD ? NO ,THEY WONT . THEY WOULD BE TERRIFIED OF DOING THAT. THEN WHY HINDUISM ?
NO ONE , NO ONE HAS ANY RIGHT TO INSULT OTHER PEOPLE'S RELIGIOUS BELIEFS IN PUBLIC MEDIA. OR MISREPRESENTING THE RELIGION OR SPREADING MISINFORMATION ABOUT THEM .
CREATIVE LICENSE? SERIOUSLY?
Hollywood seems to have a free license to insult and make fun of Hindus and Hinduism in numerous movies and shows . The fashion industry did that too. Pictures of our deities and most sacred religious symbols everywhere on clothes including shorts and shoes . DO THEY EVEN KNOW THE FIRST THING ABOUT HINDUISM ,ITS SCRIPTURES, DEITIES ,THE GITA AND MONOTHEISM ( AS CLEARLY STATED IN THE GITA) ?
NO ,THEY DO NOT . THEY DON'T CARE HOW RELIGIOUS HINDUS FEEL BY THEIR ACTIONS . BECAUSE THEY THINK RELIGIOUS HINDUS ARE SILLY AND POSSIBLY UNEDUCATED AND TOTALLY UNCULTURED, UNABLE TO FOLLOW FASHION OR INTERNATIONAL MEDIA. AND THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE ANY OPINION OR VOICE ABOUT HOW THEIR RELIGION IS PORTRAYED IN MEDIA .
THEY R SO, SO BRAVE WHILE INSULTING AND MAKING DISPARAGING COMMENTS ABOUT HINDUS AND HINDUISM ON INTERNATIONAL MEDIA. BECAUSE ITS EASY AND WORRY FREE !!!!! SO CONVENIENT! LIKE WOW!
I have no problem with atheism . I understand it and I have nothing against people who are atheists. This is not about that . I want to make this clear.
I liked the actors in the movie before reading this news. They do not want/ respect/ care for religious Hindu fans . Okay . Understood. ( This my opinion only)
The Foreign version of the news also stated Indians watched and ' enjoyed' the movie . I have nothing against those people if that really happened. Maybe they are non religious and don't know anything or care about Hinduism or scriptures or Gita . In my extended family there r some people like that . But that is okay . Religion for me is not something that should be forced to learn or practice . As I know and understand there are different ways of practicing Hinduism .
My question is , how difficult is it for people to respect other people's religious beliefs? My family and plenty of people I know personally and millions I do not know are doing it with ease all their lives . Can tolerant Hindus living all over the world not expect this common civility and simple courtesy extended to them ?

Srila Prabhupada Messenger of the Bhagavat
It’s been another half eternity since I posted anything here. However, I currently put other priorities in my modest life than to maintain a virtual blog. Be it growing vegetables on our property, my powerlifting training or my path of Sanatana Dharma & Bhakti Yoga.
Nevertheless, there are still a few exciting projects in the works, which I will post here when the time comes and I find the time.
Today, however, I’d like to show another private work here that I’ve been working on off and on over the past few months. It’s certainly not perfect, but it’s still very close to my heart. It is based on one of my favorite photos of Srila Prabhupada aka A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, which has accompanied me for half an eternity.
Even though my spiritual path has evolved multifaceted over the past decades, Srila Prabhupada and his teachings undoubtedly have a place in my heart to this day and will accompany me to the end of this material life.
Accordingly, this work is also dedicated to him.
“nama om vishnu-padaya krishna-preshthaya bhu-tale srimate bhaktivedanta-svamin iti naminenamas te sarasvate deve gaura-vani-pracharine nirvishesha-shunyavadi-pashchatya-desha-tarine”
Take care and be blessed!

History of Chinese BL (danmei)
Excerpts from Forbidden love: incest, generational conflict, and the erotics of power in Chinese BL fiction by Yanrui Xu and Ling Yang.
[History of danmei]
Chinese BL fiction first appeared around 1998, under the influence of Japanese BL manga and BL fan culture.
Japanese BL media arrives in China
In the early 1990s, a large number of Japanese manga entered Chinese market, including titles with BL elements like RG Veda (1989–1996), Tokyo Babylon (1990–1993), and X (1992–2003) created by CLAMP, and more typical BL manga such as Zetsuai 1989 (Absolute Love 1989, 1989) by Minami Ozaki.
In the second half of 1990s, Japanese BL fiction, like Ai no Kusabi (Wedge in the Relationship, 1986–1987) written by Rieko Yoshihara, Hono no Miraju (Mirage of Blaze, 1990–2004) by Mizuna Kuwabara, and Fujimi Orchestra (1994–) by Akizuki Ko also gained popularity in China.
[Chinese Platforms]
In 1998, Sangsang Academy a prominent website for Chinese manga fans, began to offer a special section for BL works.
At first, most BL works posted there were either translations of Japanese works or more often than not, unauthorized repostings of works of Taiwanese writers. This practice soon provoked a unanimous protest from Taiwanese BL writers, which in turn motivated mainland BL fans to produce their own original BL works.
The following two years witnessed a substantial increase in the quality and quantity of BL fiction, an intense effort to cultivate unique individual styles, and a collective ambition to compete with foreign counterparts.
[Styles]
Some BL writers borrowed themes and plot devices from popular martial arts novels, a derivative of the traditional ‘chaptered novel’.
Chaptered novel (zhanghui xiaoshuo) is a type of novel written in the vernacular, with each chapter headed by a couplet giving the gist of its content. The novelist form became mature in the sixteenth century. Well-known classical novels of Chinese literature, such as Journey to the West (Xiyou Ji), The Plum in the Golden Vase (Jin Ping Mei), and Dream of the Red Chamber (Honglou Meng) are all written in this form.
Others, influenced by Japanese BL novels, honed their skills in nuanced psychological description and indirect expressions.
A few ‘European-style’ BL writers not only drew on European history for plot ideas but imitated the solemn diction of Chinese translation of European classics.
[Transnational differences]
[C]ontrary to Japanese manga’s tendency to portray foreign characters in exotic foreign settings
[E]arly Chinese BL stories are often set in ancient China, tapping into indigenous male homosexual tradition that ‘dates back to at least the Bronze Age’.
[Full Circle]
Since the turn of the new century, mainland writers have been confident enough to post their works on Taiwanese websites and release tankobon in Taiwan.
In 2011, Feng Yu Jiu Tian (Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven), a novel written by leading Chinese BL writer Feng Nong, was adapted into a manga series and published in Japan by Libre Publishing. The translated manga bears the new succinct title Outaishi wa Mujihi ni Ubawareru (The Crown Prince is Raped Pitilessly). Concurrently, an extra story of Phoenix in the Ninth Heaven named ‘Bath Dreams’ was also published in famous Japanese BL magazine BeBoy Gold.
[Commercialization]
One community that has made a significant contribution to the initial boom of BL in China is the Lucifer Club. Established in 1999, Lucifer is the first online forum dedicated solely to BL and remained for a long time the most influential BL website in China. Despite a rigorous membership registration and monitoring system, Lucifer quickly earned its reputation as the ‘holy land’ for BL fans and drew many well-known BL writers.
Unfortunately, in 2007, when a registered writer was accused of plagiarism, the club administrators mishandled the charge. As a result, almost two thirds of regular writers and readers left the club as a gesture of protest.
Since then, Lucifer’s popularity has suffered a remarkable decline.
In the meantime, commercial literature websites such as Jinjiang and My Fresh attracted a large number of BL writers and readers as a result of their steady growth and proper management.
[JJWXC]
Established in 2003, Jinjiang is now the largest women’s literature website in China.
Our calculation shows that, as of February 2012, about 199,100 BL stories have been published on Jinjiang, among which 145,600 are original; the rest are fan fiction.
‘Jinjiang’s easy access serves to effectively disseminate danmei to a broader fan base and helps to mainstream this previously marginal subculture.’
[Censorship and penalty]
In early 2011, the Zhengzhou police bureau busted a commercial BL website of 600,000 registered users and arrested a dozen young writers under the charge of spreading obscene articles.
Shen, C., and Y. Li. 2011. “Zhengzhou pohuo huangse xiaoshuo wangzhan qianyue zuozhe duoshi ershisui nühai.” [Zhengzhou Busted Pornographic Fiction Website Most of the Contracted Authors are 20-Year-Old Girls.] Accessed February 9, 2012. http://news.xinhuanet.com/legal/2011-03/21/c_121212463.htm
[Subgenres]
In the course of development, Chinese BL fiction has split into many subgenres, and each subgenre has its own stable readership.
In narrative style, there are ‘abuse fiction’ (nüe wen), ‘sweet fiction’ (tian wen) and ‘realistic fiction’ (xianshi xiang wen).
‘Abuse fiction’, as the name indicates, features physical and mental abuse, including rape, BDSM and imprisonment. It might be the equivalent of ‘darkfic’ in Western fanfic.
‘Sweet fiction’ is similar to ‘fluff’, generally set in an everyday domestic environment, emphasizing the tender love between the seme and the uke.
‘Realistic fiction’ is so named because the characters and plots in those stories are more realistic, often indistinguishable from gay literature.
In pairing and characterization, there is a variety of combination, such as strong seme × weak uke, strong seme × strong uke, weak seme × strong uke, weak seme × weak uke, or ‘reversible’.
According to their settings, BL stories can be divided into fantasy stories, classical stories [aka historical setting] and modern stories.
Since age discrepancy between the seme and uke is an important element, distinction is also made between ‘old seme fiction’ (nianshang wen), in which the seme is older than the uke, and ‘young seme fiction’ (nianxia wen), in which the age situation is reversed.
In addition, there are a number of BL subgenres that particularly test readers’ tolerance for taboo subjects, for example: mpreg, hermaphrodite protagonist and incest.

Despite what the song says, a kiss isn’t always just a kiss.
A kiss can be political, because it’s the first of its kind or because it’s between two heads of state.
A kiss can also become iconic when it’s captured on film, even if the kiss itself was invasive and unwanted.
With that in mind, here’s a list of some of the most memorable kisses in history.
Tumblr media
Scholars debate whether kissing began as a trend that spread around the globe, or sprung up organically in different regions.
Whatever the case, the earliest known written mentions of it are in Vedic Sanskrit scriptures circa 1500 B.C., according to research by Vaughn Bryant, an anthropology professor at Texas A&M University.
These scriptures, known as the Vedas, were foundational to the religion of Hinduism.
After that, kissing continued to appear in ancient Indian and Hindu literature.
The Mahabharata, a Sanskrit epic compiled by the 4th century A.D., has a line in which someone “set her mouth to my mouth and made a noise that produced pleasure in me.”
The Kama Sutra, an ancient Sanskrit text on eroticism and love, also has a chapter on kissing that identifies different methods of kissing and types of kisses.
Tumblr media
Kissing isn’t just a romantic act. It can also be a sign of friendship or betrayal.
In the Gospels of Matthew and Mark, written circa the 1st century, Judas betrays Jesus by identifying him with a kiss so that armed men can take him away and eventually kill him.
Judas’ kiss has since become a popular storytelling allusion.
It may have inspired the “kiss of death” that appears in mafia literature and film (but was probably never an actual mafia practice).
Perhaps the most famous example is in The Godfather Part II, when Al Pacino’s character gives his brother Fredo the kiss of death for betraying him.
Tumblr media
The first people to smooch on film were May Irwin and John C. Rice, who appeared in a short film known variously as May Irwin kiss, Kiss, or The Kiss.
In 1896, the two performers went to Thomas Edison’s studio in New Jersey and reenacted their final kiss scene from a play they were putting on in New York City.
On stage, no one thought the kiss was that sensational. But many felt the close-up footage of them kissing was too risqué.
Tumblr media
In 1898, black performers Saint Suttle and Gertie Brown starred in a short film titled ''Something Good-Negro Kiss,'' the first film to show Black Americans kissing.
In 2017, film historians rediscovered the footage, which was filmed by a white man named William Selig in Chicago.
“There’s a performance there because they’re dancing with one another, but their kissing has an unmistakable sense of naturalness, pleasure and amusement as well,” Allyson Nadia Field, a professor of cinema and media studies at the University of Chicago who helped identify the film, said in a university press release.
“It is really striking to me, as a historian who works on race and cinema, to think that this kind of artifact could have existed in 1898.”
Tumblr media
On the morning of 14 August 1945, patients burst into Greta Zimmer’s Manhattan office claiming the war in Japan was over.
The Austrian immigrant wasn’t sure what to think, so on her lunch break, she went to Times Square in her white dental assistant’s uniform to see what the news ticker said.
The atmosphere there was celebratory. The ticker confirmed that it was indeed V-J Day, and World War II was over.
As Zimmer looked away from the ticker, a Navy sailor named George Mendonsan — who’d started drinking early and mistook Zimmer for a nurse — ran up and aggressively kissed her, leaving his girlfriend behind.
Zimmer struggled to push the stranger off, and they parted ways.
But unbeknownst to both of them, photographers Alfred Eisenstaedt and Victor Jorgensen had each captured the moment, as recounted in The Kissing Sailor: The Mystery Behind The Photo That Ended World War II.
Eisenstaedt’s photo became one of the most iconic WWII images in U.S. history, in part because viewers mistook it for a picture of a Naval officer and nurse celebrating together.
The photo has also stirred controversy, as many people have claimed over the years to be the couple in the image, while others point out that it depicts a nonconsensual moment.
Zimmer said in an interview with the Library of Congress in 2005:
“It wasn’t my choice to be kissed...the guy just came over and kissed or grabbed!”
Tumblr media
When William Shatner and Nichelle Nichols kissed on a 1968 episode of Star Trek, it was not technically the first interracial kiss on U.S. television.
But it was the one that seemed to have the most cultural impact.
In the episode, titled “Plato’s Stepchildren,” Captain James Kirk and Officer Nyota Uhura encounter aliens who force them to kiss each other through telekinesis.
In Nichols’ book Beyond Uhura: Star Trek and Other Memories, she recalls that NBC was worried how white Americans would react to the scene, so they asked the actors to film two scenes: one with a kiss and one without a kiss.
However, Nichols and Shatner purposefully messed up all of the kissless takes in order to ensure that NBC aired the kissing scene.
Tumblr media
During the Cold War, leaders of communist states often greeted each other with what’s called the “socialist fraternal kiss.”
This could be on the cheek or the mouth, but the most famous example is French photographer Régis Bossu’s 1979 picture of the Soviet Union’s Leonid Brezhnev and East Germany’s Erich Honecker kissing on the mouth.
The kiss occurred when Brezhnev visited East Berlin to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the German Democratic Republic (i.e., East Germany).
When the Berlin Wall came down in 1989, the Soviet artist Dmitri Vrubel recreated the image in a mural on the wall’s east side.
He captioned it: “My God, Help Me to Survive This Deadly Love.”

question: is james still a practicing hindu
No.
He acts like he is for his family. But definitely not.
There’s a bunch of queer figures in the Vedas, I realise that, but if you’ve ever been to the Hindu Temple yk they aren’t… they literally don’t follow what the religion says :/ colonisation really fucked with the ideals
So it doesn’t really work for him. He’s not even out, in a way. Obviously his family sees pictures of him in the media but you know how parents love denial and he’s never outright told them anything
I’m using this fic to force myself to finally comer to terms with certain things through comedy, so you’ll def gonna see more of this subject. I’m sorry ahead of time Effie and Monty are not gonna be your perfect parents. They’re very…. mmmm traditional Hindus let’s say
